Clarita Kollhoff, age 79, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2021, at Grisell Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, Ransom.

Clarita Kollhoff

Max E. Hicks, 93, died February 22, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, 
Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born January 21, 1928, in Chelsea, Oklahoma,
 the son of James R. and Lily Mae (Adamson) Hicks. Max graudauted from 
Delaware High School, Delaware, Oklahoma.&nbsp; He then served in the Army as
 a Private First Class.

On July 19, 1952, he married Betty L. Cook in Great Bend, Kansas.

A longtime Hoisington resident, Max retired from Petroluem Inc., 
Great Bend, where he worked as a roustabout and a pumper.&nbsp; He was a 
member of the First United Methodist Church, a former commander of the 
American Legion Post #286, and a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge 
#331, all of Hoisington. Max enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cards, 
and most of all he enjoyed his time with family especially his grand and
 great grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty L. Hicks of the home; 
two daughters, Rhonda Piland and husband Randy, and Becky Ritter and 
husband Keith, all of Hoisington; a brother, Alva Hicks and wife 
Virginia of Cape Carteret, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Jatim Wagner
 and husband Cory of Olmitz, and Justin Piland and wife Tanya of 
Hoisington; and three great grandchildren, Braydin Piland, Logan Wagner 
and Lane Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Eugene, 
Lyle, and Marvin Hicks; and five sisters, Edith Swalley, Sarah Dodd, 
Pauline Wilson, Opal Heape, and Maxine Hicks.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday.&nbsp; Family will greet 
friends Thursday,an hour prior to the service. Funeral service will 
begin at 2 p.m, Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral 
Home, with Ron Bailey presiding.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Hillcrest 
Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Army Honor 
Guard.&nbsp;

Max E. Hicks

Gene Martin, 67, of Wichita, KS, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 in Wichita. Memorial service 11:00 a.m.  Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. 

Gene was born in Hays, KS on September 22, 1953, to the late Mary Louise (Arnold) and Harold Dwight Martin. He graduated from Augusta High School and later worked as an inspector for Learjet. Gene enjoyed motorcycles, reading, and rock music, being a member of several local bands. 

He is survived by son, Jordan Martin; daughters, Leah Martin; and Cody Swaim and husband Chance all of Wichita; brothers, Mike Martin and wife Jyneen of Augusta; and Harold Dean Martin of Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Mason, Lydia, Colbie, John Jr., Trinity, Tanner and Kennedy.&nbsp;

Deloris Ann (Pratt) Zink, 85, Hays, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at her home.

She was born May 24, 1935, in Osborne County, Kansas, the daughter of Norman and Lucille (Dixon) Pratt.&nbsp;

In 1966, she and her husband settled&nbsp;in
 Leoti where they raised their children and operated a veterinary 
practice.&nbsp; She lived in Topeka from 1991 until 2016 before moving to 
Hays, where she spent the remainder of her life.&nbsp; Deloris was active in 
the community and a member of United Methodist Church in Leoti and 
Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church in Tecumseh.&nbsp; She was a fixture 
at her children’s band, vocal, drill team, sporting, and church events.&nbsp;
 Later in life, she was passionate about Washburn Ichabod basketball and
 found a new role in life working at the Combat Air Museum with “the 
guys."&nbsp; She will be missed by her family and her many friends from all 
the different parts of her life.&nbsp;

Survivors include her son: Greg Zink 
and wife Donna of Carthage, MO, two daughters: Shelley Zink Pitts and 
husband Lynn of Hays and Carol Zink and special friend Kathy Garcia of 
Corrales, NM, her brother: Norman Pratt, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, three 
grandchildren: Renee Butler and husband Will of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy 
Denham and husband BJ of Hays, and Cory Pitts and wife Kaisley of Derby,
 six great grandchildren: Lliam Butler, Levi Denham, Lila Denham, Phinn 
Butler, Linkon Denham, and Elliot Butler, her nephew: Randy Pratt, and 
her best friend: Clyde Hinkle.

She is preceded in death by her brother: Don Pratt and her sister-in-law: Judy Pratt. &nbsp;

Deloris Ann (Pratt) Zink

Wayne Lynn King, 59, passed away February 18, 2021, at his home.&nbsp; He 
was born December 8, 1961, in Hays, to Marvin L. and Barbara R. (Bittel)
 King.

Wayne was a 1980 graduate of Ellis High School.&nbsp; On August 12, 1995, 
he married the love of his life, Sharon Kirchoff, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They 
shared over 25 years together, making memories and sharing adventures.&nbsp; 
He was a manager at Woodwork Manufacturing.&nbsp; Wayne was a member of 
Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

He enjoyed woodworking and could build just about anything, with 
crosses being one of his favorite projects.&nbsp; Wayne enjoyed running and 
working out, competing in multiple races, including the Chicago 
Marathon.&nbsp; He was a family man who never missed one of his children’s or
 grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp; Spending time with family was one of his 
favorite pastimes.&nbsp; Wayne was always up for any adventure or crazy idea 
that his family threw at him.&nbsp; He was a people person and never knew a 
stranger; once he met you, you were his friend for life. Wayne gave 
himself unselfishly to his family, work, church, and anyone else he 
could help.&nbsp; He enjoyed life-- coaching, traveling, fishing, eating ice 
cream, and telling a joke.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Sharon King of Hutchinson; children, 
Ashley (Scott) Briand of Ransom, Luke King of Hutchinson, and Kaleb King
 of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Chloe, Addison, and Evan Briand; parents,
 Marvin and Barbara King of Ellis; siblings, Wade (Leitha) King of 
Ellis, Wanda (Donnie) Younger of Ellis, and Wes (Kim) King of Andale; 
father-in-law, Don Kirchoff; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Larry) Claar, Karen 
(Mark) Percival, and Carol (Rick) Rupp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne Lynn King

Tina Lyndell Jones, 54, passed away February 21, 2021, at the 
University of Kansas Health System, Great Bend Campus. She was born 
December 30, 1966, at Coldwater, to Jerrold &amp; Sheryl (Suchy) Davis. 
She married John Jones November 16, 1985, at Great Bend.

Tina grew up in Great Bend. The family lived in multiple states due 
to military service and moved back to Great Bend 8 months ago. Tina 
enjoyed camping but especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include, her husband, John Jones of the home; three sons, 
Joshua Jones and wife Amanda of New Mexico, Jeremy Jones and wife Alexis
 of Horizon, Tex., and John Jones and wife Hanna of Fort Stewart, Ga.; 
four daughters, Misty Tapia and husband Robert of San Antonio, Tex., 
Megan Greco and husband Alex, Madelinn Jones and McKenzie Jones, all of 
Great Bend; her father, Jerrold Davis; a brother, J.D. Davis and wife 
Rachelle of Des Moines, Iowa; and eight grandchildren, Logan, Rosemary, 
William, Cecil, Gus, Stanley, London, and Evelyn. She was preceded in 
death by her mother, Sheryl Davis; a son, Jared Davis; and a brother, 
Troy Davis.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial 
service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2021, at Bryant 
Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher. Inurnment will be in Great 
Bend Cemetery North. Memorials have been designated to the American

George O. Martin Jr., 87, died February 20, 2021. He was born July 
27, 1933, in Buffalo, New York, the son of George O. Martin, Sr. and 
Helen Boothby Kitson Martin.

A resident of Ellinwood since 1991, he was a poet, a stone carver, a 
baker, a speaker and write of newspaper columns, “Steam Whistles”, 
“Boiling Stones” and “Always Searching, Sometimes Finding”. He was a 
retired Postmaster in Partridge and Hoisington, Kansas. He was also an 
ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Church and belonged to St. John’s 
Episcopal Church, Great Bend, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 
1952 to 1956, aboard USS Yorktown, and at the Naval Air Station, 
Hutchinson, Kansas.

Taking his life forward in love and joy are his wife, Karen 
Kline-Martin, and their children, Mary Tran, Caitlin Cross (Joel), Fiona
 Esfeld (Nolan) and Samuel Kline-Martin (Emmi). There are five other 
children from a previous marriage, Mary Christopher, Mark Martin, Micah 
Martin, Myna Anderson, and George Martin IV. Grandchildren, great 
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and so many considered just family will 
celebrate his life in the days and years to come in their service to 
others.

Burial office will be read, and Eucharist celebrated at St. John’s 
Episcopal Church, Great Bend, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021
 with Mother Teresa Lahar presiding. We ask for no flowers as it is

George O. Martin Jr.

Linda Roesch, 72, rural Atwood, died Monday, February 22, 2021, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. 
Linda Lucille Weed was born December 24, 1948, in Colby, KS, the first 
daughter of Kenneth and Anna Christena “Chris” (Jensen) Weed. Linda 
spent her youth growing up in Levant and graduated from Brewster High 
School in 1966. After graduation, she attended Key Beauty School in 
Colorado Springs and graduated with her cosmetology license in 1967. On 
June 10, 1967 she was united in marriage with Richard Lee Roesch. Dick 
&amp; Linda spent the first year of their marriage in Goodland, KS where
 she worked as a licensed cosmetologist. In 1968 they moved to rural

Karen Ann, and Scott Charles. 
Linda was an active farm and ranch wife, often helping with cattle work,
 bringing meals to the field, cooking for cattle working crews and 
making many parts runs. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and most of all, 
cooking for her friends and family. Together, Dick &amp; Linda enjoyed 
traveling to attend antique and bit &amp; spur auctions. Linda was a 
renowned cook, especially known for her meringue pies, fried chicken and
 potato salad. Throughout the years, she was active in many 
organizations including serving as a Girl Scout leader, Theta Kappa, 
Hobby Club, and Master Gardeners. Linda was a member of Redeemer 
Lutheran Church after being confirmed into the Lutheran faith on August 
18th, 1991. She was an active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary 
League, serving on the funeral luncheon committee for many years. 
As her family grew, the role she loved the most was “Grandma”. She could
 always be counted on to host a “cousins sleepover” and rarely missed a 
birthday or holiday. She enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s 
activities. She was a familiar face in the stands for many years and was
 known as “Grandma Linda” to many. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother &amp; father-in-law, 
Fritz &amp; Frances Roesch; uncles, Jack Weed and Bobby Lee Schroeder 
and brother-in-law, Joe Heath. 
She is survived by her husband, Dick, of the home; children, Tracy

Linda Lucille Weed was born December 24, 1948, in Colby, KS, the first 
daughter of Kenneth and Anna Christena “Chris” (Jensen) Weed. Linda 
spent her youth growing up in Levant and graduated from Brewster High 
School in 1966. After graduation, she attended Key Beauty School in 
Colorado Springs and graduated with her cosmetology license in 1967. On 
June 10, 1967 she was united in marriage with Richard Lee Roesch. Dick 
&amp; Linda spent the first year of their marriage in Goodland, KS where
 she worked as a licensed cosmetologist. In 1968 they moved to rural 
Rawlins County where they spent the remainder of their lives farming and

William D. “Bill” Jacobs, 76, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

Bill was born April 16, 1944, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Casper and Mary (Schmidt) Jacobs.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.&nbsp; A 1963 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, he was employed by the Rush County Highway Department for 21 years before his retirement.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council 2970, both of La Crosse, Kansas.

On November 10, 1978, he married Jo Ann Hammerschmidt at St. Fidelis Church, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include:&nbsp; his wife, Jo Ann Jacobs, La Crosse, Kansas; three brothers, Ralph Jacobs, La Crosse, Kansas, Leroy Jacobs, La Crosse, Kansas, and Jerry Jacobs, Hays, Kansas; one sister, Mary Lou Warren, Wichita, Kansas; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Eugene Jacobs, Virgil Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, and Celestine “Celly” Jacobs; and five sisters, Leona Leiker, Albina Birney, Elenora Holzmeister, Louise Besperat, and Viola Dreher.

Jeannine C. Truan, 84, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson, Kansas.

Jeannine was born December 26, 1936, in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was one of five children born to Gilbert and Elizabeth (Kippes) Truan.&nbsp; She grew up a short time in Hays before her family moved to the family farm and she attended Hope Valley schools.&nbsp; She graduated from Gorham High School in the Class of 1954.&nbsp; Then after high school she moved to Russell.

Jeannine started out working for Kessler Cleaners for six years before helping take care of patients at the Russell Hospital and in home patients.&nbsp; She worked as a waitress at the Tower Restaurant before working over 12 years at Martha’s Cafe and working for Red’s Chicken House.&nbsp; In 1982, she started working for Klema’s in the Bakery and Deli, retiring in 2000.

Jeannine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell and was an active member of the St. Mary’s Guild.&nbsp; She enjoyed collecting Salt &amp; Pepper Shakers, cheering on her Kansas City Royals, listening to country music and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Jeannine’s surviving family includes her sisters, Janice Stoppel (Melvin) of Russell, Kansas, and Norma Savage of Russell, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Delbert Truan and Raymond Truan, and sister Betty Wallace.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.&nbsp;

Mary C. Armstrong, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 
February 17, 2021, at Legend Senior Living in Topeka, Kansas. She was 
born on March 5, 1925, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and 
Zelda Wilson Ruth. Mary was a resident of Scott City, Kansas most of her
 life before moving to Topeka in 2011 Hutchinson, Kansas. Mary was a 
homemaker and a wife.

Mary was a member of the First Christian Church and a member of the Scott County Historical Society.

On August 15, 1945, Mary wed Robert Armstrong in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away on October 14, 2013, in Topeka, Kansas.

Survivors include her Two Sons - James &amp; Debbi Armstrong of 
Edmond, Oklahoma, Dan Armstrong of Topeka, Kansas, Two Daughters - 
Elizabeth &amp; David Rider of Houston, Texas, Jane &amp; Louis

Marilynn Esther Seibel of Hays, Kansas,
 passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, February 
20, 2021, at Hays Medical Center after a recent stroke. 

Marilynn was born December 3, 1933, in 
Hays to Bernard and Ida (Toepfer) Weigel. She graduated Ellis High 
School in the class of 1951 and attended Fort Hays State University. On 
August 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Darrell G. Seibel in 
Ellis, Kansas, and resided in Hays all her married life. Darrell and 
Marilynn recently celebrated 66 years of love and marriage. 

Marilynn dedicated her life to a loving
 home and raising her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing 
wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an incredible 
artist and seamstress who thoroughly enjoyed her family, cooking, 
traveling, gardening, and caring for her pets. Marilynn was an active 
member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and lived her life dedicated to the
 Word of God. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Her 
kind heart touched all those who had the privilege of knowing her. 

She is survived by her husband Darrell,
 five sons: Greg (Donna) Seibel, Jeff (Stacey) Seibel, Brad (Judy) 
Seibel, Brent (Kitty) Seibel, Michael (Angela) Seibel, two daughters: 
Marcie (Rodger) Steffen and Linda Seibel, 15 grandchildren, and 10 
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, two brothers: Bernard Weigel and Victor Weigel, and three 
sisters: Irene Younie, Eleanor Beilman, and Edith Bittel.

Phillipsburg resident Janna Constable passed away Feb. 14, 2021, at her home in Phillipsburg at the age of 43.&nbsp; She was born July 22, 1977, in Wichita, the daughter of Ron &amp; Glenda (Miller) Powers.

Janna Constable

Edward J. Brummer passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the 
Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 88. He was born 
to John and Katherine (Simeon) Brummer on January 7, 1933, in Osborne 
County, Kansas. Edward married Bertha Hays on October 26, 1963, in 
Osborne, Kansas, and they were blessed with six children: Jill, Edward 
“Eddie”, Jennifer, Connie, Jeanette, and Elizabeth.
 Edward grew up in rural Osborne where he attended school until 8th 
grade. He then went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad before he was 
drafted into the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge 
from the service he returned home and worked as a mechanic at his own 
shop from 1965 until 2017 when he retired. 
 A true “car guy”, Edward loved everything about cars. Fixing them, 
driving them, collecting them, and teaching others to do the same. He 
not only loved working on his own cars, but also on cars for other 
people and visiting with his customers. He taught all his kids how to 
change the oil and a flat tire at the very least before they left home. 
So many memories were built around cars; they were like friends to him 
as he kept every single one of them. Interestingly enough, he stopped 
buying them in the 70’s as he would say, “plastic had no place on a 
car!” Although his 1960 Corvette was arguably his most prized 
possession, it didn’t hold a candle to his family, especially his 
grandkids. Edward made sure that he took vacation time with his family 
every year and taught one of his grandsons, Dalton, to play the guitar. 
 A hard-working, loving and dedicated family man of God, Edward loved
 the simple life, recognized his blessings, and didn’t take time for 
granted. Although he will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his 
love and invaluable influence will remain in the hearts and lives of his
 family and friends. May his legacy inspire each of us to encourage one 
another, cherish the ties that bind, and live to serve God, Home, and 
Country everyday of our lives.

2021 at 10:30 AM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 2PM until 8PM with a Vigil 
starting at 7PM at the funeral home.

Tillie L. Smith, age 76, of Goodland passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Topside Manor.&nbsp;

Tillie was born March 25, 1944, to Homer Franklin and Gloria (Pixler) 
Kibel in Goodland.&nbsp;&nbsp; She grew up and attended school in Deer Creek, 
Colorado.&nbsp; On October 15, 1961, she married F. Dean Smith.&nbsp; Tillie was a 
custodian and cook at USD 352 for many years.&nbsp;

She was a member of Genesis. &nbsp;Tillie enjoyed painting statues, 
crafting and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; husband, Dean; brother, Ronald Kibel; and sister, Lillian Mather.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Carson of Goodland; son, 
Terry Smith of Kiowa, CO; son, Homer Smith of Leesville, LA; son, Norman
 Smith of Irvington, KY; daughter, Shirley Lamb of Goodland, KS;

She was born August 31, 1932, at Bird City, Kansas the daughter of 
George Henry and Mayme Gertrude (Amack) Theye. A Hanston resident for 
over 25 years, formerly of Dodge City and Colby, she was a homemaker and
 also worked in the laundry department in nursing homes. She enjoyed 
crossword puzzles and word searches.

On August 30, 1952, she married John L. Headley at McDonald, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 26, 2010.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Leroy Headley, Hanston, Kansas, and Roger 
Headley, Bentonville, Arkansas; 4 daughters, Helen Hoover and husband 
Ronnie, La Crosse, Kansas, Karen Keazer, Marshall, Minnesota, Joyce 
Towey, Colby, Kansas and Sharon McCormick and husband Marvin, Mankato, 
Kansas; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous 
great-great grandchildren and her dog, Little Bit.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandsons, 5 
brothers, Louis, Ralph, Calvin, Walter, and George Theye, 6 sisters, 
Viola Pyle, Bertha Culipher, Gertrude Zamey, Geraldine Espinoza, Marie 
Hicks, and Louise Johnson.

He was a lifetime resident of Leoti, Kansas and worked as a farmer. 
He was a member of the Baptist faith. He loved to show compassion to the
 local animals.

Survivors include his brothers; Charles Harkness of Oak Grove, 
Missouri, Jerry Harkness (Glenda) of Leoti, Kansas, Tony Harkness 
(Darlene) of Leoti, Kansas, his sister Rita Perry (Don) of Leoti, 
Kansas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lula Geyer Holland one great niece Kristina White.

Eugene Leon 'Bear' Harkness

Anthony “Lyle” Toepfer, 92, Hays, died Friday, February 19, 2021, at Hays Good Samaritan Society.

He was born November 5, 1928, in Hays, 
the son of William A. and Celestine F. (Kuhn) Toepfer.&nbsp; In 1946, he 
graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy.&nbsp; On June 16, 1948, he was 
united in marriage to Mary Alice Clark at St. Joseph Catholic Church in 
Hays, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before she preceded him 
in death on August 9, 2013.&nbsp; He was an accountant and IT specialist at 
Midwest Energy for many years.&nbsp; Lyle was a longtime member of St. Joseph
 Catholic Church and a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 
Hays Area Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, Hays High Plains Barbershop, 
SPEBSQSA, and sang in the St. Joseph Church choir for 40 years.&nbsp; He was 
an avid bowler, became an avid golfer after his retirement, and loved 
spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons: Bill 
Toepfer and wife Mary of Shawnee, Philip Toepfer and wife Laurie of 
Hays, Fr. John Toepfer, OFM Cap. of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Toepfer 
and wife Sandy of Columbia, IL, and Patrick Toepfer and wife Stacy of 
Hays, a daughter-in-law: Mary M. Toepfer of Hays, 20 grandchildren, 22 
great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife Mary Alice, a son: Tom Toepfer, a daughter: Kathleen

Rodney R. Gibbs, 61, passed away February 18, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, KS.

He was born February 20, 1959 in Dodge City, the son of Frank R. and 
Opal J. Corey Gibbs.&nbsp; A lifetime area resident, he worked for David 
Berger, was a truck driver and had a lawn mowing business.

He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the American Legion, Jetmore.

Survivors include: father, Frank R. Gibbs, Jetmore and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal J. Gibbs; brother, Larry Law; niece, Kristi Hatfield and a&nbsp; nephew, Monty Law.

Marion F. Roadhouse, 79, peacefully departed this life on February 
16th at Osborne County Memorial Hospital. &nbsp;He was born to Margueritte 
(Roenne)&nbsp;&amp; Charles E. Roadhouse on April 4th, 1941 in rural 
Bloomington, KS. &nbsp;He completed grade school at the Bloomington rural 
elementary school. He graduated from Osborne High School in 1959. &nbsp;In 
1960, he married Dianne Griffing in rural Smith County. &nbsp;He spent a 
summer traveling with a harvest crew and was hired by a construction 
company and moved to Johnson, KS for 5 months working on a building 
project. &nbsp;The couple moved back to Osborne and he worked for Midway Coop
 for 16 years. &nbsp;In 1978, he started his own consruction company, 
Roadhouse Construction, and continued working until he suffered a stroke
 in February 2014 and was unable to work. &nbsp;Since his stroke, Marion was 
able to live in the comfort of his home with his loving wife for the 
last 7 years.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church of Osborne, 
KS. &nbsp;Marion devoted his life to his family and work. &nbsp;Marion took a lot 
of pride in the quality of his work, making sure everything was done to 
perfecton. &nbsp;He was always the first to step up and help when his family 
was in need. &nbsp;He enjoyed being able to spend time with his 
grandchildren, who called him "Papa", loved to laugh and talk 
construction. &nbsp;He could rarely be found sitting still as he always had a
 list of projects to do. &nbsp;Even after the stroke took his ability to 
speak, Marion developed his own way of communicating to make sure things
 were done right. &nbsp;Marion loved his dog, Chewie, who was always by his 
side.

Marion is survived by his wife of 60 years, of the home; children 
Brad Roadhouse and wife Suzanne of Osborne, KS, Kim Adams of Osborne, 
Karalee Nichols and Chris, and Kraig Roadhouse and Crystal; sisters 
Phyllis Arnold of Alton, Ks. and Violent Junk of Osborne; 10 
grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;He
 was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Roadhouse, two 
brother-in-laws, and one great grandchild.

Mary Louise Moyers, 98, longtime resident of Hays, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Main Street Manor in Russell.

She was born August 5, 1922, in 
Pennsboro, West Virginia, the daughter of John A. and Macy M. Farley.&nbsp; 
She attended and graduated from the Pennsboro public schools.&nbsp; Louise 
graduated from the DeSalle School of Nursing of St. Mary’s Hospital in 
Clarksburg, West Virginia.&nbsp; After graduation, she served as surgical 
nurse, emergency nurse, and later as Night Supervisor.&nbsp; On August 25, 
1948, she was united in marriage to Edwin Moyers in Clarksburg, West 
Virginia, and they celebrated nearly 53 years of marriage before he 
preceded her in death on August 20, 2001.&nbsp; They started their life 
together in Fayette, Missouri where she worked as a nurse in the area 
hospital.&nbsp; After moving to Kingsville, Texas, she worked as a nurse in 
the Kleberg Hospital in Kingsville, and later as a school nurse and 
county school nurse on the King Ranch.&nbsp; When they moved to Hays in 1959,
 she worked at Hadley Hospital, serving the last twenty years prior to 
retirement as Head of the Psychological Floor.&nbsp; Her memberships included
 Hays First United Methodist Church, the Century Club, Hays Lioness 
Club, and the Hadley Nurse’s Club.&nbsp; She loved her work as a nurse, 
listening to her husband play music as a professor of music and symphony
 member at FHSU, attending Tiger football and basketball games, overseas
 travel, her grandchildren, and her pet poodles.

Survivors include her two sons: Michael
 Moyers of Shanghai, China and Randal Moyers and wife Lorrie of Great 
Bend, KS, and five grandchildren: Justin, Alexander, Nicholas, Macy, and
 Abbie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin, and her sister Bernice.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on
 Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with 
Rev. Mike Rose officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Mt. Allen Cemetery.&nbsp; 
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 on Wednesday

Phillipsburg resident Phylis F. Reeves passed away Tuesday, February 
16, 2021, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 
98.

She was born November 6, 1922, in Smith Center, Kansas, the daughter of Vern V. and Nettie F. (Churchill) Albrecht.

She was united in marriage to Dale I. Reeves on November 10, 1944, in 
Smith Center, KS.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 11, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Katie and Nita; and a daughter Barbara Whittaker.

Survivors include her daughter Connie Price of Phillipsburg; a 
grandson Jerry Whittaker and wife Marjorie of Falls Church, VA; a great 
grandson Jackson “Jack” Whittaker; a sister Mary Swander of Salina, KS; 
and nieces and nephews.

Cremation was planned and a memorial services will be held at a later date.

Michael G. Cavenee, 67, of Atwood, died Thursday, February 11, 2021. He 
was born November 9, 1953, in Scott City, KS, to Gordon and Sandra 
(Notestine) Cavenee. Michael graduated from Greeley County High School 
in 1971 and attended Goodland Vo-Tech. He served in the United States 
Army for two years and then worked as a licensed electrician for a 
couple of years after. Michael then managed the Goodland Airport and 
worked at Air Midwest in Evansville, Indiana. The remainder of his 
professional career was carried out as a Train Engineer (His true 
passion), finishing up as an Amtrack Engineer the last 5 years of his 
career. On May 5, 1979, Michael married Kim Fritsch and to this union 
two children were born. In his younger years Michael enjoyed water 
skiing and snow skiing. He also enjoyed working on cars and machinery. 
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten 
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have 
everlasting life.” 
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, sister Meredith Johnson and brother-in-law Steve Graber. 
He is survived by his children, Amber (Jonathan) Timm, of Atwood and 
Brandon (Tasha) Cavenee, of Atwood; wife Katherine Woodward; brother 
Mark (Nancy) Cavenee, of Tribune; sisters, Michelle (Tom) Ballah, of

Michael G. Cavenee

Paul Deines passed away on February 17, 2021, at Trego County-Lemke 
Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas, at the age of 98. He was born on 
February 12, 1923, to David and Elizabeth (Dietz) Deines on the family 
homestead in rural Barton County near Galatia, Kansas. 
 Paul attended school in Galatia until his family moved to Trego 
County in 1939. He graduated from Trego Community High School with the 
Class of 1940. He then attended Barton County Community College where he
 took business classes for one year before returning to work on the 
family farm. Paul married Helen Fabrizius on January 21, 1945 at Zion 
Lutheran Church, Trego Center. They were blessed with two children, 
Elizabeth Ann and Mark David.
 Paul spent his working years farming and ranching. He was a member 
of Zion Lutheran Church where he was the financial secretary and served 
on the church council for many years. He was a lifetime member of the 
American Historical Society of Germans from Russia International, and a 
charter member of the Sunflower Chapter of Hays.
 Left to cherish Paul’s memories are his daughter, Elizabeth and 
husband Richard Deines of Trego County; two grandchildren, Emily Deines 
of Overland Park, Kansas and Brent Deines of WaKeeney; two 
great-grandchildren, Emma Deines and Aaliyah Deines; and many nieces and
 nephews.
 Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Mark David 
Deines; and siblings, Marie Wilhelm, Tabea Fabrizius, Louis Deines, 
Herbert Deines, Racheal Fabrizius, Ella Fabrizius, and Emil Deines.
 A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church at Trego 
Center on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at 
the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at 
Zion.
