Rowan Edward Camp

Rowan Edward Camp, 81, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.

Rowan was born May 5, 1939 in Natoma, Kansas.  He was one of three children born to Elmer Martin and Maggie Gladys (Rubble) Camp.  He grew up in Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in the Class of 1957.  He attended Emporia State University.

Rowan was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Waudby on November 26, 1960 in Gorham, Kansas.  This union was blessed with three daughters; Sandra, Sheila and Stacie.  They made their home in the Russell area.

Rowan was a Farmer and Rancher. He worked many years at Mahoney Imp. in Russell  ,He was a member of St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  He also was a member of the Russell Elks Lodge.  Rowan enjoyed fishing, playing music with different bands thru out the years, riding his John Deere Equipment and having coffee with the Bunker Hill Gang.

Rowan’s surviving family include his wife of 60 years, Patricia of the home; daughters, Sheila A. Kuntzsch (Alan) of  Bunker Hill, Kansas and Stacie E. Mendenhall of Emporia, Kansas; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Rowan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Curtis Camp, and sister Zetta Hillman.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell Kansas.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell.  A vigil and rosary service will be held at 7 P.M. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the church.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Thursday, March 11th at the mortuary.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be given to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and sent in care of the mortuary.   Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of these arrangements.
