Jeannie Marie (Laevenstein) Hamrick of Plainville, Kansas passed away 
unexpectedly on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her mother’s home in 
Hoxie, Kansas. She was born into the family of Donald and Janet 
(Diederich) Laevenstein on February 12, 1974. She was joined by a baby 
sister Shelly, nine months later. Don and Janet loved and welcomed 
their daughters into their hearts. They made their home in Hoxie, 
Kansas. Jeannie attended Hoxie Grade School and Hoxie High School 
graduating with the class of 1992. After graduation, Jeannie attended 
Cloud County Community College. Jeannie earned an Associate’s Degree in
 Hospitatlity and Hotel Management. During her course of study, she 
went to several large cities including New York City which was a 
highlight in her life. Jeannie was baptized at the St. Frances Cabrini 
Catholic Church, Hoxie where she was confirmed and took her first 
communion.
 Jeannie worked at the Sheridan County Health Complex in the kitchen 
and housekeeping departments. Most of her life she spent as a 
homemaker. She loved her house plants and flowers. She had a green 
thumb and could grow most anything. Jeannie had many health conditions,
 but she was so caring, she worried more about other people and how they
 were doing. Jeannie’s family, including her puppy, Clyde was so 
important to her. 
 Jeannie is survived by her sister, Shelly Kuhn and husband Keith of 
Hoxie, Kansas; niece, Ashley Kuhn of Hoxie, Kansas ; nephew, Andrew Kuhn
 of Hoxie, Kansas; puppy, Clyde; and many relatives and friends.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Janet Laevenstein;
 grandparents, Gabe and Elizabeth Laevenstein, Julius and Mae Diederich.
 A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 2:00 
P.M., at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 
Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. at the 
funeral home with Family receiving friends from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. 
with a Rosary to be held at 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will be
 in the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery following the service.

Carlene Landis passed into her loving Savior’s arms on Wednesday, 
October 6th, 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her family and friends were blessed to have 
Carlene's love and support for 72 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Although heartbroken, her 
family rejoices in knowing she is at peace in her heavenly home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carlene&nbsp;&nbsp;was the beloved daughter of Leonard and Esther (Mai) 
Stettinger who&nbsp;preceded her in death, along with a precious infant 
daughter, Lori Landis.&nbsp;&nbsp;Carlene is&nbsp;survived by her husband Larry Landis 
of 54 years, her sons Chris (Missy) of Olathe, KS,&nbsp;Chad (Carolynn) of 
Severna Park, MD, and her 4 cherished grandchildren, Christine, 
Iain,&nbsp;Jeffrey, and Grace.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additionally, she is survived by her sister, 
Linda Dodson (Arnel) of&nbsp;Olathe, KS and her brother, John Stettinger 
(Sherry) of Great Bend, KS as well as many&nbsp;wonderful nieces and 
nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carlene's passions centered on family, faith, 
and treasured moments including time at&nbsp;the beach or traveling with her 
husband and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;She enjoyed volunteering at church on&nbsp;the praise 
&amp; worship team and the children's ministry.&nbsp;&nbsp;In her professional 
life, Carlene&nbsp;worked for over 20 years in the healthcare field serving 
others in the medical laboratory at&nbsp;Halstead Hospital and Lancaster 
General Hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carlene’s deep abiding faith sustained 
her during two battles with breast cancer (2000 &amp;&nbsp;2018).&nbsp;&nbsp;Both 
times, she was healed, God is good!!!&nbsp;&nbsp;Continuing the fight against 
cancer, the&nbsp;family plans on walking in their 22nd year of Relay For Life
 and driving cancer patients to&nbsp;their treatments (Road to Recovery).&nbsp;&nbsp;

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carlene's life at a 
memorial service on&nbsp;October 23rd, 2 PM at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral 
Home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her remains will be interred at the&nbsp;family plot in Hoisington 
Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Johnny Lee “John” Ireland, age 72 of Hays, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Hays Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1949, in Concordia, Kansas, to John A. and Marjorie F. (Beaushaw) Ireland. John graduated from Natoma High School in 1967. Played football at Butler County Community College, and later graduated from Fort Hays State. John worked for several companies in sales positions throughout his career. They included Baker Oilfield Tools, RayBestos, Standard Automotive, and Crawford Supply. John was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam Era and taught for the SERE program at Fairchild AFB. He enjoyed Golf and was a long-time member of Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays as well as an avid K-State football fan. John is survived by a son, Tanner Ireland of Ohio; a step daughter , Sara Sharpe of Hays; a step son, Scott Sharpe of Topeka, KS ; a brother, Gregg Ireland and wife Carol of Topeka; and two nieces, Jackie Ireland of Wichita and Jessie Ireland of Topeka. Sharlett Jill Webster, age 60, of Hanston, KS died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at HaysMed - Hays.&nbsp; She was born on March 18th, 1961 to Dewey and Lee Webster in Larned, KS.

Sharlett moved with her parents and brothers as a toddler to Tucson, Arizona where she started school and graduated from Flowing Wells Schools. She attended the University of Arizona and had a career as a Real Estate Agent. Sharlett made friends with her best friends in School and the “Wild Bunch” have supported each other through thick and thin throughout their lives.

Sharlett moved back to her hometown with her 2 younger children and started a new life in her maternal grandparents’ marital home. Sharlett cared for many of the people in the Hanston area that knew or took care of Sharlett as a child. She provided much love and hospice caregiving for some of Hanston’s most treasured residents.

Sharlett endured many medical issues and setbacks in the later part of her life. In spite of these issues there became a great need for one of her relatives who needed a good home and family to grow up with, this is when cousin Jay Morgan came to live with Sharlett and Marc at the age of 6 and is 14 at this writing.

A small private family service was held in Jetmore on October 7th. In lieu of flowers or a public service, the family has requested donations be made to the Hanston State Bank in Hanston, KS where a fund has been setup for Jay to access when he comes of age. A service will be held for the rest of the family in Tucson upon the return of her ashes.

Sharlett is survived by her 4 children Chelsey Bishop of Tucson; Zach Bishop of Manhattan, KS; Jacey Bishop of Portland, Oregon and Jay Morgan of Hanston, KS. 1961, in Salina, to Everett and Wanda (Crook) Humphreys.

Roberta worked for the State of Kansas for many years, including the 
Kansas Neurological Institute. She was a believer and loved to testify 
and give praises to the Lord.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy Amon; nieces, Misty Tersiner and
 her daughter, Ashlyn, and Julie Bretado (Alfonso) and her children, 
Mariana and Elian; nephew, Zachariah Humphreys.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter; and nephew, Christopher Tersiner.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at
 Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A private burial will be in Heart Land Prairie 
Cemetery, Niles, Kan.

Patricia Barraza, 69, passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, in
 San Antonio, Texas.&nbsp; She was born on Nov. 21, 1951, in Scott City, the daughter of David and Virginia Cibulski Moffet.

A 
resident of Wichita, since 2013 moving from Garden City, 
she was a homemaker.

On Aug. 29, 1970, she married Antonio Barraza in Leoti. He passed away on Nov. 12, 2011, in Wichita.

Survivors include her two daughters - Ginny Barraza of Wichita, Stephanie Barraza of Harlan, Ky., one brother - Robert 
Moffet of Tucson, Ariz., one sister - Linda Moffet James of Watseka, 
Ill., two daughter-in-laws - Barbara Glenn of Wichita, Quinn
 Barraza of San Antonio, Texas, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son - Tony J. Barraza.

Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 ,

Randall “Randy” Lee Clark, 51, passed away on Oct. 10, 2021, at Denver Health, Denver. He was born on Feb. 18, 1970, to Don and Lucille (Philbern) Clark. Randy married Cynthia McIntosh on June 12, 2004, in Great Bend. She survives.

A life-time resident of Great Bend, Randy was the business owner of RC Computers. He was a member of Encounter Church. Randy enjoyed flying drones, camping, fishing, instrumental music and cryptocurrency.

Survivors include Cynthia Clark, of the home; his mother, Lucille Clark; son, Seth Burress and fiance Lydia Berger of Great Bend; a daughter, Sharon Burress and partner Daniel Rodriguez of Hoisington; sisters, Pam Thomas of Wichita, Kristi Clark of Great Bend; brothers, Scott (Lupe) Clark of Houston, Rick Clark of Pratt; and grandchildren, Leah Sullivan, Lance Sullivan, Lilly Sullivan. He is preceded in death by his father.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.

Betty L. (Schemm) McLaren, 87, of Hays, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born March 21, 1934, in WaKeeney, the daughter of Joseph and Eva (Schwien) Schemm.&nbsp; On Jan. 16, 1954, she married Merle R. McLaren in Wichita.bThey were together for 67 years, and were blessed with 10 wonderful children.

Betty was a homemaker, and a selfless mother. Her primary concern in life was always the welfare of her family. She loved people in general, and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Trego High School, WaKeeney. Her husband Merle was a career member of the USAF, and together with their growing family traveled to many areas of the free world.

Leon was a farmer, he also ran cattle and 
enjoyed running the combine. He was a member of Masons, Isis Shrine, 
Sons of the American Legion, and the Elks. Leon enjoyed attending as 
many Brewster sports as he could and traveling with the Brewster High 
School seniors, as a sponsor, to Mexico for senior trips. In his spare 
time, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and gambling. 
Leon was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Rasmus and Sarah
 Jensen and Leon and Protus Schroeder; aunts and uncles, Ken and Chris
 Weed, Marvin and Mary Garrett, John Schroeder and Keith Frodin; and 
cousins, Rick Schroeder, Bill Frodin, Gloria Ribordy and Linda Roesch.

Leon Wesley Schroeder

Robert Charles Metzker, 57, passed away on Oct. 13, 2021, at his home in Ness City, surrounded by his wife, mother, and children, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rob was born on Dec. 23, 1963, in Boulder, Colo., the son of Robert F. and Helen (Prose) Metzker.

He went to grade school and high school in Boulder and graduated a year early from Fairview High School in 1982, due to the school allowing night classes. Rob moved to a farm south of Beeler, Kan., to help his grandmother with farming, as his grandfather had passed away the prior year.

Rob enjoyed living in the quiet community so much that he decided to stay and make a living by farming, raising cattle, building fences, and helping other farmers in the community. Rob met Donna (Koerner) Hembree in 1984 in Ness City and began their life together and raised her three children. They were married on July 24, 1999.

Robert could do anything and there were no challenges that he wouldn’t take on. He incorporated his father’s love of math and science and his grandparent’s ability for invention, to direct his path. He bought and sold antiques, and he built and remodeled houses. These projects led him on to rebuilding old historic architectural buildings and some historical projects for the State of Kansas at Fort Riley and the Swedish Pavilion in Lindsborg. He also worked on many churches of all denominations, rebuilding the stained-glass windows and steeples. He was well known for his knowledge and expertise in window restoration.

As times changed and church finances changed, Rob had to change as well. He decided to follow a lifelong dream of drilling water wells for farmers to help them find water. Rob was a professional water witcher and a certified water well driller for the State of Kansas. Rob continued with his profession until his health started to decline with a rare and aggressive type of cancer. His passion and desire was to never give up, however, after a long battle with various chemotherapy treatments and surgery, he succumbed to this cancer.

Robert is survived by his wife, Donna of 22 years; his mother, Helen Hanks of Dighton; two sons, Derek Hembree of Long Beach, Calif., and Ryan Hembree and his wife, Andrea, of Blanchard, Okla.; one daughter, Jennifer Howard and her husband, Nathan, of Ellis; four grandchildren, Evan, Abbygail, and Isabella Hembree and Bennett Howard; and one sister, Rebecca Hansen and her husband, Brian, of Boulder, Colo.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Metzker and stepfather, Elmer Joe Hanks.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. The Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, also at the church, followed by the parish vigil at 7 p.m. Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Robert W. “Bob” Cassity, 78, died October 12, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born April 16, 1943, in Garnett, the son of Wilmer R. “Buck” and Esther D. (Burlingham) Cassity.&nbsp; Bob graduated from Garnett High School in 1961 and attended Fort Hays State College.&nbsp;

On Dec. 13, 1967, he married Margie Bennett in Miami, Okla.

Bob and Margie moved from Garnett to Hoisington in 1975, where they owned and operated Central Kansas Cheese Plant for many years. A jack of all trades, Bob also worked in plumbing, heating and air for A&amp;F Enterprises Inc. Most recently he was known for the Cassity Bait Shop and was a local favorite on the trade radio known as Catfish Bob.

He served for six years in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #48 of Garnett. He was president of the Hoisington Little League where he also coached his boy’s teams for several years.

Bob was an animal lover, who never turned an animal away, and will be missed by his many fur babies. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and outdoorsman. Most especially he loved his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, taking them fishing and camping, gathering nightcrawlers and telling them stories.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Margie Cassity of the home; three sons, Kevin Cassity of Hoisington, Craig Cassity and wife Julie, and Brandon Cassity, all of Wichita; sisters, Vera Storer of Hays, and Helen Miller of Garnett; and his forever cherished grandchildren who called him “Papa," Tyler, Tanner and wife Allie, Hannah, Cailyn and Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Herman “Bud” Cassity, sisters, Jeanne Lankard and Marjorie “Tootie” Akers, and an infant sister, Nina Ruth Cassity.

Robert W. “Bob” Cassity

Helen Peach, 88, La Crosse, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Hays Med, Hays.

Born July 28, 1933 in La Crosse, Kansas, she was the daughter of Frank and Helen (Hamrdla) Spicka of Timken. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County.

After graduation from La Crosse Rural High School in 1951, Helen worked at several jobs in La Crosse until she married Donald Peach of La Crosse, shortly after his release from the U.S. Army and his service in Korea.

Helen and Don married on April 14, 1953, in La Crosse. They lived their entire 66 years of marriage together in La Crosse until Don’s death on Jan. 31, 2020. Helen and Don enjoyed camping, traveling, and time with their family. Don and Helen built and opened Peach Body Shop in 1960. Helen was the bookkeeper for Peach Body Shop, Peach Auto Salvage, and later for Mike’s Auto Glass.

Helen was active raising their children, attending sporting/music events, and their school activities. For many years, Helen was active with the Band Mothers for grade school and high school. She was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothing for herself, children and grandchildren. After her children graduated from high school, she continued to alter band uniforms for the La Crosse High School and grade schools’ bands. In later years, she was on the staff of Friendship Meals of Rush County. Through the years, Helen also provided childcare for her grandchildren and a few children of friends.

Helen was a selfless caregiver. When her son, Ron, was injured in an explosion, Helen and Don cared for Ron in their home during his six-month recovery. Later, when her daughter-in-law, Susan, was injured in a bicycle accident, Helen and Don helped to provide care for their 14-month old twin grandsons and Susan. In her later years, Helen was devoted to caring for her husband in his last years of life.

Survivors include one daughter, Helen Petrik, and her husband, Charles Petrik, Manhattan, Kan.; three sons, Don Peach, and his wife, Susan Collins Peach, Elbert, Colo., Ron Peach, Manhattan, Kan., and Mike Peach, and his wife, Mary Beth Peach, La Crosse; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Neoma Kreutzer (Jerry), La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents.

A private family service will be held at La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse. Memorials are suggested to Hays Med Progressive Care Unit or Hays Med Hospice.

 </figure>Helen Peach, 88, La Crosse, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Hays Med, Hays.Born July 28, 1933 in La Crosse, Kansas, she was the daughter of Frank and Helen (Hamrdla) Spicka of Timken. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County.After graduation from La Crosse Rural High School in 1951, Helen worked at several jobs in La Crosse until she married Donald Peach of La Crosse, shortly after his release from the U.S. Army and his service in Korea.Helen and Don married on April 14, 1953, in La Crosse. They lived their entire 66 years of marriage together in La Crosse until Don’s death on Jan. 31, 2020. Helen and Don enjoyed camping, traveling, and time with their family. Don and Helen built and opened Peach Body Shop in 1960. Helen was the bookkeeper for Peach Body Shop, Peach Auto Salvage, and later for Mike’s Auto Glass.Helen was active raising their children, attending sporting/music events, and their school activities. For many years, Helen was active with the Band Mothers for grade school and high school. She was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothing for herself, children and grandchildren. After her children graduated from high school, she continued to alter band uniforms for the La Crosse High School and grade schools’ bands. In later years, she was on the staff of Friendship Meals of Rush County. Through the years, Helen also provided childcare for her grandchildren and a few children of friends.Helen was a selfless caregiver. When her son, Ron, was injured in an explosion, Helen and Don cared for Ron in their home during his six-month recovery. Later, when her daughter-in-law, Susan, was injured in a bicycle accident, Helen and Don helped to provide care for their 14-month old twin grandsons and Susan. In her later years, Helen was devoted to caring for her husband in his last years of life.Survivors include one daughter, Helen Petrik, and her husband, Charles Petrik, Manhattan, Kan.; three sons, Don Peach, and his wife, Susan Collins Peach, Elbert, Colo., Ron Peach, Manhattan, Kan., and Mike Peach, and his wife, Mary Beth Peach, La Crosse; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Neoma Kreutzer (Jerry), La Crosse.She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents.There will be no visitation.A private family service will be held at La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse.      Carol Billinger, 74, of Victoria, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at her home.  She was born Jan. 10, 1947, at Hays to Leo and Hubertine (Urban) Stramel.  She married Gilbert Billinger Jr. on April 22, 1967, at Pfeifer.

     Carol was postmaster at Pfeifer for 29 years and a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, her family, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Carol was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis, St. Fidelis Daughters of Isabella, St. Fidelis Christian Mothers, Holy Cross Charities Inc. Board member, and a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She and her husband, Gilbert have spent many years over seeing the Holy Cross Catholic Church and grounds.

Myrna Marie (Sis) Lawrence, 60, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on June 5, 1961, in Wichita to Ivan Wasko and Mary Ann (Bieker) Wasko.

Myrna was a graduate of Hays High School. Throughout her career Myrna supported and cared for hundreds of students as a school secretary and as a special education paraprofessional in Great Bend, Ellsworth and Topeka.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most recently, she was employed by Petro Deli in Topeka.

Survivors include her son, Kirk; father, Ivan Wasko (Hays); siblings, Myron Wasko and wife Stephanie (Rose Hill), Myrle Wasko and wife Dawn McCusker (Moscow, Idaho), Myrlin Wasko and wife Renee (Lee’s Summit, Mo.); and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly known as “Aunt Sis." Myrna also leaves behind countless friends and co-workers to cherish her memory.

Myrna will be remembered as a kind and caring soul that rarely knew a stranger, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 20, 2021, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,&nbsp;215 W. 13th&nbsp;St., Hays, KS.

Belinda Kay Munoz, 69, of South Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, July 1.  A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Hays, followed by a burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Belinda was born on Oct. 13, 1951 in Hays to Harold and Henrietta (Herrman) Haselhorst. On Nov. 16, 1972, she married Francisco Munoz in Garden City. Belinda grew up and completed school in Kansas, and from there she and Francisco lived all across the Midwest before settling in South Sioux City in 1988.

She was a material maintenance manager with Tyson Foods for 33 years before retiring in October 2020.

In her spare time, Belinda enjoyed playing various games, especially Scrabbles and Spades, and she really loved to win.

Bradley Wayne Barnhart, 55, of St. Francis, Kan., was granted his angel wings on Oct. 2, 2021 in Rock Springs, Wyo., at the Memorial Hospital from complications of Covid-19.

He was born in Goodland on Nov. 24,1965, to Maurice and Shirley (Blue) Barnhart. He attended Goodland High School and was a graduate of Northwest Kansas Vo-Tech Diesel Mechanics and graduated with his class of 1984. He became an over-the-road truck driver and worked in the agricultural field. At the time of his death, he was on the road. &nbsp;

On June 19th, 1990, Brad married Mary Hahn in Goodland, and they made their home in St. Francis. He was a self-taught woodworker and had a love of dogs, especially German Shepards. &nbsp;

Brad adored spending time with his 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching baseball and westerns; John Wayne movies were his favorite. His fun-loving laugh brought joy to those around him. He was a big teddy bear to those who knew him. &nbsp;

Bradley was preceded in death by his father and mother Maurice and Shirley Barnhart; paternal and maternal grandparents, Ed and Nina Brewer, Purl Lydia Blue; Uncle Floyd and Aunt Faye Blue; nephew, Nathan Barnhart; daughter, Bonnie Easterling.

Bradley Wayne Barnhart

Clara Louise (Cousins) Dougherty, 94, of Colby, died Monday, Oct. 11,
 2021, at Citizens Medical Center. She was born Feb. 20, 1927, on a 
farm in Sheridan County. She was the daughter of Jess and Fanny 
(Hammontree) Cousins. Louise grew up in the Colby-Menlo area, graduating
 from Menlo High School in May of 1945. After graduation, she worked for
 Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator. 
Louise married William “Bill” Dougherty on Feb. 18, 1947, at Sacred 
Heart Church in Colby. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1997. 
Bill preceded her in death in June 2000. They were proud to be the 
parents of three children, Janice Ann, James William, and John Bernard. 
Louise was a homemaker and worked for 35 years as a bookkeeper at 
Dougherty Implement. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting in her
 spare time and watching the grandchildren grow into caring and 
responsible adults. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, D of I, 
Queen Mary Circle, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Golden Buckle Square Dance Club, 
and RSVP. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; brothers, Harold

 </figure>Clara Louise (Cousins) Dougherty, 94, of Colby, died Monday, Oct. 11,
 2021, at Citizens Medical Center. She was born Feb. 20, 1927, on a 
farm in Sheridan County. She was the daughter of Jess and Fanny 
(Hammontree) Cousins. Louise grew up in the Colby-Menlo area, graduating
 from Menlo High School in May of 1945. After graduation, she worked for
 Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator. 
Louise married William “Bill” Dougherty on Feb. 18, 1947, at Sacred 
Heart Church in Colby. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1997. 
Bill preceded her in death in June 2000. They were proud to be the 
parents of three children, Janice Ann, James William, and John Bernard. 
Louise was a homemaker and worked for 35 years as a bookkeeper at 
Dougherty Implement. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting in her
 spare time and watching the grandchildren grow into caring and 
responsible adults. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, D of I, 
Queen Mary Circle, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Golden Buckle Square Dance Club, 
and RSVP. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; brothers, Harold
 and Floyd Cousins; sister-in-law Mary Ann Cousins and brother-in-law 
Robert Feldt.

Brian Jon Solt was born July 7, 1981, in Manhattan, Kan., to Janet Solt of Manhattan, and Ronald B. Solt of Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Brian attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary and Manhattan Middle School before moving to Hays for his high school years. He graduated from Thomas More Prep-Marian in 1999, and then attended Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and international business. He later completed his MBA through Baker University while working in the Kansas City area. His current residence was in Coppell, Texas, where he was delighted to miss Kansas winters.

Brian was an amazing friend to many, a talented basketball player, and loved the game of golf. He cherished time with family, especially his brother, his cousins whom he loved dearly, and his forever friends that he met throughout his life.

Brian defeated cancer during college, countless surgeries, and fought a hard fight with the never ending battle as a Type 1 diabetic for 27 long years. And then God called him home.

Brian is survived by his mother, father; brother Brandon Solt (Kristi),Houston, and his beautiful niece Madison Reese. His extended family Gretta and Don Hoffman, Hays, Lynn Deines, Garden City, Elden and Karen Solt, Wamego, Rosella Solt, Belvue, and Randy and Cindy Treece, Hockley, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bonnie and Reinholdt Deines, and paternal grandparents Isla and Lloyd Solt, and step-grandfather, Abe Shortt.

Jeneice Rohr, 81, of Walker, passed away Oct. 10, 2021, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell. She was born June 15, 1940, to Severin and Isabelle (Dechant) Scheck. She married Gilbert F. Rohr on Feb. 8, 1958, in Walker. He preceded her in death June 7, 2015. &nbsp;Jeneice was a homemaker and a lifelong Walker resident. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers, both of Walker. Survivors include a son, Leland Rohr, Walker; three daughters, Catherine Tidball (Charles), WaKeeney, Cindy Weigel (Duane), Hays, and Pam Bieker, Ellis; sisters Carol McAdoo (Bill) of Russell and Sharon Schoendaller (Wendelin Jr.) of Walker; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, Gerald, Joseph and Severin, an infant sister, Cindy; son-in-law Allen Garner, and a daughter in law, Shara Rohr. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Walker. Burial will follow in the St. Ann’s Cemetery. Jeneice Rohr

Thomas F. Richardson, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at his home in 
Garden City. He was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Hutchinson,
 the son of Robert E. and Bette Jean Richardson. 
 Tom lived in various places throughout the state of Kansas and has 
been a resident of Garden City since 1995. After high school, Tom 
attended and graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield and
 from the University of Washburn Law School.

He began his working 
career in private practice as an attorney. He later became a municipal judge, an administrative law judge, a district court judge, and most 
recently as a special administrative law judge. Tom was a member of the
 Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Golf Association in which he 
served on the board of directors, rated golf courses, and officiated 
countless golf tournaments. He loved to spend his time playing golf and
 was an avid reader. 
 On Dec. 26, 1997, he married Mary Wehkamp in Scott City. She survives. Other survivors include two sons Robert Austin 
Richardson of Avon, Colo., and Benjamin Thomas and wife Erika 
Richardson of Augusta; a sister Jody Carner of Decatur, Ga.;
 three grandchildren Olivia, Emma and Elise Richardson; and two nieces
 Rebecca and Rachael. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and an 
Aunt Maralee Brackelsberg. 
 A private family service will be at a later date. There will 
be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to Friends of 
Buffalo Dunes Foundation or to the Finney County Humane Society, both in
 care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
