Coletta Brungardt, 88 years of age, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Wakeeney, Kansas.

Coletta was born March 30, 1933, on a farm south of Park, Kansas to Kasper and Elizabeth (Waldman) Ochs. She was one of six children; two preceded her in death.

Coletta married the late John Brungardt on May 5, 1953, and a son and two daughters were born of their union. The Brungardt’s farmed northwest of St. Peter all 49 years of their married life. They attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at St. Peter, where Coletta was an active member of the Christian Mothers, until it closed in 1999 when they transferred to Christ the King parish in Wakeeney. The Brungardt’s moved to Wakeeney in December 2001.

Coletta was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, spending time with her family, cooking and baking, working on the farm and especially caring for the baby calves. She was very artistic which was evident in the hand-painted cookies she made and the way she decorated her home.

Coletta leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Diann (Greg) Heroneme of Independence, Missouri, Loretta Pyle of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Donald (Lisa) Brungardt of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; four grandchildren: Cara Casey, Damian Aghedo, Jarod and Kenda Pyle and two step-grandchildren: Jake and Shawn Flick.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Wakeeney with Father Charlie Steier as celebrant, with visitation at the parish hall one hour before funeral services. A private burial will follow in the Catholic cemetery in Wakeeney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Wakeeney or Hospice and Palliative Care of NW Kansas in Phillipsburg.
