Douglas Curtis Rich

Douglas Curtis Rich, 67, Hays, died Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Hays Good Samaritan Society.

He was born March 30, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of William E. and Janet (Stubby) Rich.  Douglas earned a B.A. Degree from Fort Hays State University and served in the U.S. Army.  He was a truck driver and an ASE certified mechanic.  From 1987 until 2018, Douglas was married to Adele I. (Kuchar) Rich, and she survives.  Douglas was an avid Chiefs fan, loved his pets, and enjoyed camping.  Most important to him was his family and faith.  He was active in the St. Joseph and St. Nicholas of Myra parishes as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, usher, and served on the Family Life Commission.  He was a Perpetual Adoration Adorer and an active participant in the Pro-Life Chain. 

Survivors include his son: Derek Rich, three daughters: Damien Buffalohead, Nicole Legleiter and husband Brandon, and Jessica Diaz and husband Mario, stepfather: Keith Hubbard, and seven grandchildren: Mason, Elliott, Temperance, Julius, Ben, Aspen, and Brecklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Curtis Rich, and two brothers: David and Monty Rich.

Funeral services were Monday, December 13, 2021, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.
