James Martin King

James Martin King, 67, passed away December 14, 2021, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born December 1, 1954, in Iola, KS. the son of Frederick Martin and Joyce M. Cornell King.  Moving from Garden City, he was a Jetmore resident for the past 17 years.

He was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and was a Boy Scout leader in Garden City.  Jim and Karen was the owner of the Hide Out Bar and Grill for 8 years where he really enjoyed visiting with people.  He also enjoyed playing pool, fishing and walking the dogs.  He loved his grandchildren and dogs, especially Scooty.

On June 1, 2004, he married Karen S. Reeves in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives.

Other survivors include: son, Theron James “TJ” King and partner Laura, Garden City; step son, Shawn (April) Spreier, Ness City; two step daughters, Sherry (Dan) Johnson, Larraine and Clesha Smith, Colorado Springs, CO.; two brothers, Mike (Ty) King and Tim King, both of Wichita; sister, Suzie (Ross) Hacker, Wichita; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
