Ula Faye Olsen, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Faye was born on October 3, 1943, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Howard Sears and Talma Ula (Landis) Keyes.&nbsp; She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1961.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Robert John Olsen on June 01, 1961, in Russell.&nbsp; From this union Faye and Robert were blessed with 3 daughters Michelle, Mary and Molly.&nbsp; 

Faye worked full-time as a wife, mother and homemaker and took pride in raising her family.&nbsp; She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, playing mahjong, embroidery and baking.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Michelle Harrison of Russell, Kansas, significant other Jeff Wegele and Molly Friebus and husband Drew of Russell, Kansas; son in-law Jay Keeler of Russell, Kansas; 3 grandchildren Olivia, Jordan and Kalena (Donnie) and 5 great grandchildren Roman, Dominick, Reed, Aniya and Collin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert on May 17, 2019; and her daughter Mary Keeler on June 27, 2018.

A private graveside service will be held at the Fairport Cemetery in Fairport, Kansas.&nbsp; A public viewing will be held from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas, who is in charge of the funeral service arrangements. &nbsp;

Ruth Elder, 99, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas. &nbsp;

Ruth Schooling born to William Albert and Margaret&nbsp; Elizabeth (Kennedy) Schooling on May 14, 1921, in Hardin, Ray County, Missouri.&nbsp; She had older brother Sam and two younger brothers Paul and Bob.

She grew up in the Hardin and Lexington, MO areas. She had fond memories of Sunday afternoons with the extended Schooling family sharing meals and listening to her dad and uncles play instruments and sing.&nbsp; Her last two years of high school was in Kansas City, MO at Manual High.&nbsp; It was there she met Phillip Lopez and the two were married in 1939.&nbsp; To this union, was born son (William) Carlos and daughter Ramona.&nbsp; &nbsp;

During WWII Ruth and the children moved to Osborne County, north of Waldo, where they stayed with Ruth's parents while Phillip was serving in the Marine Corps. Following their divorce Ruth married Vern Elder and raised her children on the Elder farm.&nbsp; After Vern's death in 1979 she remained on the farm and spent some time working in Hays at the Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas.&nbsp; In addition she was quick to serve others providing people rides to doctors appointments, caring for shut-ins and pitching in where ever needed. &nbsp;

In addition to her family Ruth's interests included people, music, reading, quilting, crocheting, sign language, reading maps and watching the University of Kansas basketball.&nbsp;

Ruth is survived by her son Carlos Lopez and wife Barbara of Clarkesville, Georgia, grandson Marc Bauman and wife Lisa of Kirkland, WA , great grandchildren James Bauman of Bellevue, Washington and Emma Bauman of Tacoma, WA and several other Schooling and Kennedy relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vern Elder, daughter Ramona Hutchinson, all three brothers Sam, Paul and Bob Schooling. &nbsp;

Her family expresses their appreciation and gratitude for the care provided by the staff at Wheatland Nursing Center. &nbsp;

A private graveside service will be held by the family at Grand Center Cemetery in rural Waldo, Kansas.&nbsp; There will be no viewing or public service.&nbsp; Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Phillipsburg resident Kenneth Artz passed away November 16, 2020, at
 the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 73.&nbsp; He was 
born July 21, 1947, in Phillips County, the son of Orville &amp; Iva 
(Coffin) Artz.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Phillipsburg &amp; numerous nieces &amp; nephews.

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 4
 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with 
Dan Klinger officiating. The services will be streamed live on the

Jane Porter, age 74, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, November 27, 2020,
 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas, after a courageous 
battle with cancer. She was born November 26, 1946, in Russell, Kansas,
 the daughter of Joe and Barbara (Shoaff) Majernik. 
Jane grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School. She 
continued her education at Fort Hays State University. Jane married 
Steven Porter on September 4, 1970, in Russell. She was a 
Para-professional at Sullivan Elementary School for many years. She 
treasured family gathering for the holidays, reading to her kids, and 
loved to watch her grandkids and share in their accomplishments. Jane 
enjoyed watching KU Basketball, reading, decorating, and traveling. 
Jane is survived by her husband, Steven of the home; daughters, Julie 
Hickman of Ulysses, and Stephanie Shivers and husband Tyler of Winfield;
 mother, Barbara Majernik of Ulysses; brother, John Majernik and wife 
Kathi of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother-in-law, Gary Porter and 
wife Jane of Hugoton; sister-in-law, Janice Porter of Hugoton; and three
 grandchildren whom she adored, Joshua Hickman, Jackson and Jaylin 
Shivers.

Theresa Ann Obholz, 95, Hays, died Sunday, November 29, 2020, at her home.

She was born May 31, 1925, in Hays, the 
daughter of Anton and Rosa (Maska) Arnhold. &nbsp;On July 28, 1946, she was 
united in marriage to Hilary “Larry” Obholz in Hays. &nbsp;He preceded her in
 death on February 5, 1993. Theresa was a homemaker, she enjoyed being 
with her family, babysitting her grandchildren, sewing, embroidery, 
latch hook, quilting, reading, and walking. She was a member of St. 
Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenny 
Borgmann and husband Lonnie of Green Valley, AZ, and Kristy Hinzman and 
husband David of Hays, a son, John Obholz of Hays, a daughter-in-law, 
Barbara Obholz of Hays, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, a son, Joe Obholz, a daughter-in-law, Jody Obholz, a 
grandson-in-law, Mike Garrison, five brothers: Rich, Edgar, Wendelin, 
Lawrence, and Richard, and five sisters: Virginia, Eleanor, Pauline, 
Clara, and Catherine.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm

Theresa Ann Obholz

Jo Ann (Kitts) Unrein, 66, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Jo Ann was born November 17, 1954 in Concordia, Kansas.  She was one of three children born to Billie O. and Doris (Johnson) Kitts.  She grew up on a farm near Mankato, Kansas and graduated from Mankato High School.  She then attended and graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Elementary Education.

Jo Ann was united in marriage to Arlyn Unrein on October 9, 1976 in Hays, Kansas.  This union was blessed with twins, Andrew and Angela.  They made their home in Hays for a couple of years before moving to Russell. 

Jo Ann was a Trainer for Department of Children and Families for over 34 years before her retirement last year.  In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, doing crafts, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren.

Jo Ann’s surviving family include her husband of 44 years, Arlyn of the home; daughter, Angela Bowers (Jason) of Lenexa, Kansas; son, Andrew Unrein (Jen) of Grain Valley, Missouri; brother, Mel Kitts (Synda) of Goddard, Kansas; sister-in-law, Beth Kitts of Crown Point, Indiana; and eight grandchildren.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Kitts.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial has been established as an Education Fund for the Grandchildren.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.

Diversicare of Hutchison. She was born on June 18, 1934, in Batesville, 
Miss. She was married twice. To the first union two sons were born, 
Lewis and Danny Joe Smith. She has five grandchildren, Steven, Travis, 
David, Jaclyn, and Kevin; and three great grandchildren, Nolani, Niko, 
and Kalen.

She was a med aide for many years. She dedicated her life to Jehovah 
on June 6, 1955. She loved playing card games and marbles. She enjoyed 
cooking for family and friends, crocheting, making homemade ice cream 
and fishing. Her greatest passion was participating in her Bible 
ministry work, serving as a regular pioneer for 48 years.

A private family burial will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery. Those

Evelyn Mahan

Goodland resident Vicente Ray Garza died unexpectedly November 25, 2020 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver CO. He was born Nov 5, 1976 in Colby, KS, the son of Raymundo Soto-Garza and Mary K Yañez and step son of Juan Yañez.

Vicente was lovingly called Vince by all who knew him.

Vince received his GED then he attended NWKTC for mechanics after GED. Then after he worked various jobs, Vince was very knowledgeable in electrical work carpentry and just about anything. He set up mobile homes with his uncles and stepdad for Nationwide, he was a cook/dishwasher at the bricks café, he was also a cashier at Conoco, a job in which he loved dearly. He loved his customers and always made sure to say hello and made it his personal goal to make sure they left the store with a smile.

Throughout Vince's life he had 3 great loves, (Patricia Murphy, Jennifer Smith, and Nancy Latimer) Each the mother of his three children of whom he was very proud of (Chestin, Heather, and Dora).

Vicente was never married though he was currently engaged to marry Nancy Latimer. His death cut his plan short but Vicente tried.

Being described as “just being a cool guy” Vince always had a smile on his face. He had a way making people feel comfortable and liked to be the host.&nbsp; He enjoyed throwing “backyard boogies” consisting of good music, lots of laughs, and BBQ! He loved to barbecue and would do it every day if he could. He collected Homies figures, was a talented drawer, and like Lowrider cars and loud car systems he liked to set the car systems up and tent car windows. He especially loved the Oakland Raiders, but more than those things he loved his mama. He had his ups and downs and was in and out of the system but later turned his life around. He enjoyed volunteering at the local Genesis Food Bank and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the holidays. He took a lot of pride in decorating the Christmas tree at the courthouse every year. He reached his goal of getting off of probation this year which was a huge accomplishment for him; he would spend time scratching lottery tickets, hanging out at home and jamming out to some good music with his beloved pet Bruno and Chiquita and his fiancé Nancy. He also enjoyed throwing the football around with his nephews. He was a loyal friend, loving brother, proud father and son.

Vicente is preceded in death by his father, Raymundo; his grandparents Ramon and Thelma; and his uncle James and David and his cat Bruno.

Vicente is survived by his children Chestin Murphy of Otis, Kansas; Heather Smith of Alabama; and Dora Dominguez of New Mexico as well as his fiancée Nancy Latimer, and his dog Chiquita. He is also survived by his mother, Mary (Juan) Yañez of Goodland Kansas; his brother Juan D Yañez, and his sisters, Maria (Paco) Garza, Jeannie (Derek) Baxter, and Elizabeth (Anthony) Yañez all of Goodland, Kansas; Gabriel Salazar of Emporia, Kansas; as well as many beloved and 13 nieces and nephews, 2 great nieces and hopefully and great nephew on the way and cousins, aunts and uncles.

Vince has chosen to be cremated with his ashes being placed in a personally chosen memorial spot.

A celebration of life will be held December 12, 2020, at a location still to be determined.&nbsp;

He was born Nov 5, 1976 in Colby, KS, the son of Raymundo Soto-Garza and Mary K Yañez and step son of Juan Yañez.Vicente was lovingly called Vince by all who knew him.Vince received his GED then he attended NWKTC for mechanics after GED. Then after he worked various jobs, Vince was very knowledgeable in electrical work carpentry and just about anything. He set up mobile homes with his uncles and stepdad for Nationwide, he was a cook/dishwasher at the bricks café, he was also a cashier at Conoco, a job in which he loved dearly. He loved his customers and always made sure to say hello and made it his personal goal to make sure they left the store with a smile.Throughout Vince's life he had 3 great loves, (Patricia Murphy, Jennifer Smith, and Nancy Latimer) Each the mother of his three children of whom he was very proud of (Chestin, Heather, and Dora).Vicente was never married though he was currently engaged to marry Nancy Latimer. His death cut his plan short but Vicente tried.Being described as “just being a cool guy” Vince always had a smile on his face. He had a way making people feel comfortable and liked to be the host.&nbsp; He enjoyed throwing “backyard boogies” consisting of good music, lots of laughs, and BBQ! He loved to barbecue and would do it every day if he could. He collected Homies figures, was a talented drawer, and like Lowrider cars and loud car systems he liked to set the car systems up and tent car windows. He especially loved the Oakland Raiders, but more than those things he loved his mama. He had his ups and downs and was in and out of the system but later turned his life around. He enjoyed volunteering at the local Genesis Food Bank and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the holidays. He took a lot of pride in decorating the Christmas tree at the courthouse every year. He reached his goal of getting off of probation this year which was a huge accomplishment for him; he would spend time scratching lottery tickets, hanging out at home and jamming out to some good music with his beloved pet Bruno and Chiquita and his fiancé Nancy. He also enjoyed throwing the football around with his nephews. Vicente 'Vince' Ray Garza

Gale Ray “The Captain” Wood, 72, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Gale was born February 11, 1948, in Grant County, Kansas.&nbsp; He was the son of Andrew and Jessie (Neill) Wood.&nbsp; He grew up on a farm in Grant County and graduated from Satanta High School.&nbsp; He then attended Fort Hays State University.

Gale was united in marriage to Carol Jean Johnson on June 3, 1967, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children; Kelly and Cindy.&nbsp; They made their home in Salina for a short time before moving to Ulysses, Kansas.&nbsp; After 18 years, they moved to Lakin, Kansas and then in 2000 they moved to Russell.

Gale was the owner and operator of the Irrigation Repair Service in Ulysses, before that he worked in repairs for the John Deere Implement Company.&nbsp; Later in life he was a truck driver for Deitz Construction for 20 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, watching Nascar Racing, collecting guns and coins and driving his truck.

Gale’s surviving family include his wife of 53 years, Carol of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Cindy Jury (Rod) of Russell, Kansas; brother, Ben Wood of Ulysses, Kansas; granddaughter, Sadie Wood of Hays, Kansas; and two great grandchildren, Ronan Elliott and Hayden Ruiz.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents and son Kelly Ray Wood.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; No visitation will be held, cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A private burial of ashes will follow at a later date.&nbsp;

Letha L. Lowdon, 98, a long time resident of Downs, KS passed away on
 November 26, 2020 in Akron, OH. &nbsp;She was born on October 22, 1922 on 
the family farm in Jewell, KS to Joseph &amp; Gladys (Blacker) McDill. 
&nbsp;Letha was one of several children.

Letha attended the North Star School, a one room grammar school in 
Jewell. After she&nbsp;graduated from Jewell High School, she&nbsp;attended&nbsp;Kansas
 State University. &nbsp;She graduated in 1944 from KSU with a Bachelor of 
Science degree in Home Economics and received a lifetime teaching 
certificate. &nbsp;Letha taught in the Russell and Downs schools, as well as 
at the Girls Industiral School in Beloit, KS.

On September 4, 1947, Letha married Burnell Lowdon. &nbsp;To this union 
three children were born. &nbsp;Letha and Burnell celebrated 62 years 
together before Burnell passed away.

Letha loved gardening. &nbsp;She was active with the local 4-H unit while 
her children were growing up. &nbsp;Letha enjoyed going salmon fishing with 
Burnell in Washington &amp; Alaska. &nbsp;She was also very involved in their
 farm work&nbsp;and loved it very much.

Letha was preceded in death by her husband, Burnell, daughter-in-law Mary (Culver) Lowdon, and a sister Twila (McDill) Schafer.

Letha &nbsp;is survived by three children: Corey (Judith) Lowdon of 
Independence, KS; Jane (Mark) Cironi of Fairlawn, OH; Kelly (Pamela) 
Lowdon of Lakewood, CO; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 
sister: Alma McDill.

Jerry Roger Meyer, 84, passed away November 27, 2020 at Country Living of Larned.

He was born February 2, 1936 in Larned, the son of Paul Bernard Sr. and Christine Mary Gales Meyer.

A lifetime area resident, he was a retired farmer and stockman. He 
was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, and the Knights 
of Columbus. He was a 1954 Belpre high school graduate. He was a welder 
and made yard art, enjoyed the company of his pets, watching high school
 sports, and was a K-State Fan.

On June 4, 1960, he married Lahoma Hancock in Wichita. On December 
19, 1990 he married Bonita Curtis at Dodge City; she survives.

Other survivors include: his children and their spouses, Janell and 
Al Troyer, Tonganoxie; DeAnn and John Back, Kansas City, Mo.; and Angela
 and Jeff Scheck, Macksville; his stepchildren, Jeri and John 
Golightley, Topeka; Joey and Bev Curtis, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and James and 
Jonita Curtis, Wichita; sister, Mary Jean Hirsh, Kinsley; Brother, 
Michael Meyer, Breckenridge, CO He has six grandchildren, eight 
step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three 
step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul B. Meyer Jr, and infant Larry Meyer.

Adeline L. Day was born July 9, 1930 to Louis and Anna (Sula) Krahl. 
&nbsp;She departed this life on November 26, 2020 at the age of 90 at 
Osborne, KS.

Adeline attended Gaylord schools until her senior year in which she 
attended and graduated from Alton High School in 1947. &nbsp;On July 4, 1949 
Adeline married Dale R Day at Smith Cnter, KS. The couple had three 
children, Marjorie, Jeanne &amp; Edwin.

Adeline was a homemaker and in later years, operated an upholstery 
business and operated a Kennel. &nbsp;Dale and Adeline enjoyed traveling to 
family reunions as their health allowed over the years. &nbsp;She also 
enjoyed attending the many school activities of her kids, grandkids and 
great-grandchildren.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 2006, daughter Marjorie in 2014 and son-in-law Donnie Becker in 2016.

Adeline is survivied by daughter, Jeanne Becker and son Edwin Day, of
 Osborne. &nbsp;Grandchildren, Raegan (LeRoy) Likes, of Haysville; Lindsey

Richard Glen Adee, 96, passed away Nov. 26, 2020, at the Good 
Samaritan Center, Ellsworth, Kan.&nbsp; He was born July 11, 1924, in Lamar, 
Kan., to Richard Glendinning and Maude Olive (Baker) Adee.&nbsp; Richard 
married Betty (Krueger) June 4, 1944, in Salina, Kan. &nbsp;After marriage, 
they moved to Clay Center, Kan., then moved to Great Bend, Kan., in 
1950.&nbsp; Betty passed away Oct. 15, 2017.

Richard, a long-time resident of Great Bend, Kan., was retired from 
Hydro-Chem, previously working at Thies Packing as a meat cutter.&nbsp; He 
was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Great Bend Woodcarvers and a
 charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.&nbsp; Richard proudly served his
 country during WW II, in the 41st Infantry, United States Army, 
obtaining the rank of Tech. Sgt.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Marie Adee of Manhattan, 
Julia Ann Jilek of Manhattan, Kan., Lynne Weiser and husband Don of 
Salina, Kan.; four grandchildren, Melissa Ivey, Jalen Byford, Laura 
Weiser and Drew Byford; four great grandchildren, Jadrian Henan, Joshua 
Weiser, Cooper Ivey and Cayson Ivey.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his 
parents; one brother, J.B. Adee; and three sisters, Glenys LaQuay, 
Bernys McCoy and Ferne Johnson.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Bryant 
Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends prior to the service. 
Rev. Adam Wutka will preside.&nbsp; Masks and social distancing are required.
 &nbsp;Interment will follow at Rose Meron Cemetery, Longford, Kan., at 2:00 
p.m., with military rites conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.&nbsp;

Tamela G. Turley, age 63, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas.  She was born on November 5, 1957, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Gale &amp; Sharon Sue Thomas Heinrich.  A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a nanny and homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Celebrate Recovery both of Scott City, Kansas.  In 1975 she graduated from Scott Community High School in Scott City, Kansas.

On October 5, 1974, she married Steve Turley in Scott City, Kansas.  He survives.

Survivors include her Husband - Steve Turley of Scott City, Kansas, One Son - Stevie Turley II of Scott City, Kansas, Two Brothers - Mike Heinrich of Scott City, Kansas, David Heinrich of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sisters - Julie &amp; DeWayne Ferrell of Scott City, Kansas, Lisa &amp; Jeff Buffington of Scott City, Kansas, and Mother In Law - Vada Turley of Scott City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, One Son - Tony Turley, and One Brother - Alan Heinrich.

Karen Gayle Eskew was born August 25, 1960, in Atwood, Kansas, to Gerherdt
 and Mildred (Wilkening) Waterman. She passed away on November 26, 2020,&nbsp; at Hays Medical Center at the age of 60.
 Karen grew up in rural Decatur County and was a 1979 graduate 
Decatur Community High School. She went on to receive her Bachelors 
degree from Concordia University in Seward, NE. Karen married David 
Eskew on March 27, 2003, in Oberlin, Kansas. She worked for Decatur COOP 
(Ampride) as a cashier and was an EMT for over 20 years.

Karen was a 
member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oberlin, Lutheran Women’s 
Ministry League and was the secretary for the church. In her spare time,
 she enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, and reading. Most of all she 
loved her family and was known as the organizer in the family. 
 Karen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David 
Waterman.

She is survived by her husband, David of the home; siblings: 
Ed (Kathy) Waterman, Elmer (Margaret) Waterman, and Melvin Waterman; 
cat, Oreo; dogs, Panda and Kallie and extended family and friends.

Mitchell “Mitch” James Eichman passed away on November 26, 2020, at his 
home in Plainville, KS, at the age of 44. He was born on July 31, 1976 
in Hays, KS to Jim and Cindy (Hrabe) Eichman. 
 Growing up in Plainville, Mitch graduated from Plainville High 
School with the Class of 1995. He attended the Diesel Technician Program
 at Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, KS. Mitch went on to
 work for Farm Implement, Tom’s Machine for 10 years, and Gore Oil 
Company the last 13 ½ years. 
 During his high school years, Mitch was strongly involved in the 
Plainville FFA Chapter and was a chapter officer all four years. He also
 held FFA District Officer positions his junior and senior years, and 
was class President his senior year. Never one to forget a joke, he was 
funny and often was told he could be a professional comedian. He loved 
visiting with friends and family and was a great storyteller. He was a 
collector and keeper of many things; never found to throw away a hunting
 magazine.
 Mitch was a good-hearted man who worked hard, enjoyed life and 
cherished his family and friends. Although he was taken from us far too 
soon, we know that those we enjoyed and loved, we can never lose, for 
all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. We can smile because he 
lived and left us with cherished memories that will live forever in our 
hearts. He will be remembered in love.
 Mitch is survived by his parents, Jim and Cindy of Plainville; 
brother, Mace Eichman of Plainville; and sister, Manda Weien and husband
 Ron of Plainville. 
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 
2020, at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. A 
Visitation will be held on Monday 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home

Leonard Leroy Erway, 78, passed away November 26, 2020 at Leisure Homestead of St. John.

He was born November 20, 1942 in Wichita, the son of Marvin and Marie Wheatley Erway.

A Lifetime area resident, he was a powerplant operator for Larned State Hospital and was of the Nazarene faith.

On June 13, 1962 he married Barbara Greathouse in Larned; she preceded him in death on March 2, 2014.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Sumner, Lafayette, 
Indiana, Melissa and husband Randy Jacobs, Great Bend; a half-brother, 
George Welsch, Larned; four grandchildren, Kegan Sumner, Konner Sumner, 
Zackery Jacobs, Gabby Jacobs; three great grandchildren, Ayden Williams,
 Preston Sumner and Karoline Towery.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Erway and a half-brother, Max Welsch.

Walter was born August 16, 1934, in Rush County, Kansas, the son of 
Frank and Florina (Sanders) Herrman.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of Rush
 County, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked for Flame Engineering Inc. from 1974 until 
his retirement in 1990.

On April 4, 1956, he married Virginia A. Penka at St. Joseph’s 
Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death May 1, 
2013.

Survivors include:&nbsp; his daughter, Carol Weis (John), Schoenchen, Kansas; and one grandson, Michael Scott Weis, Hays, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, 
Balthasar “Balser/Bill” Herrman, Lavin Herrman, and Walter Herrman (age 
2); and three sisters, Thelma Jacobs, Silverina Kreutzer, and Viola

Concordia KS to C.A. and Eloise (Fraser) Pfeifer.

Patrick 
grew up on the family farm near Aurora KS and attended school in 
Miltonvale KS.&nbsp; After an auto accident in 1979, he was unable to 
complete his high school education, but the school presented him with a 
diploma the same year his younger brother graduated.&nbsp; Patrick was 
blessed to have many wonderful caregivers and healthcare professionals 
who assisted him over the years in managing with his disabilities.

Patrick 
was preceded in death by his father.&nbsp; He is survived by his mother, 
Eloise of Minneapolis, his sisters Debbie (John) Herrman of Osborne, 
Angie (Norman) Vytlacil of Belleville, Yvonne (Thomas) Jefferson of Dry 
Fork, VA, Janet (Robert) Pahls of Salina and his brothers, Greg Pfeifer,
 Salina, Doug (Marlene) Pfeifer, Wichita and Charles Pfeifer, 
Minneapolis as well as 42 nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Patrick 
was cremated and a funeral mass will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Memorials
 may be made to OCCK or Pinnacle Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center 
and may be mailed to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166,

Patrick Joseph Pfeifer

Rev. Garner J. Berg, 92, Hays, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at HaysMed.

He was born July 15, 1928, the son of 
Joseph R. and Helen F. (Garner) Berg.&nbsp; On July 27, 1946, he was united in
 marriage to Harriet F. Rossow in McPherson, and they celebrated 62 
years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 25, 
2008.&nbsp; He later married Nancy (Wheatcroft) Stanka.&nbsp; Garner was a United 
Methodist minister, serving for 39 years in United Methodist churches in
 Kansas and Texas, retiring in 1995.&nbsp; In Salina, he served at the Church
 of the Cross.&nbsp; He enjoyed traveling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of 
Hays, two sons: Barry Berg of Indiana and Jon Berg of Kansas, and a 
daughter: Brenda-Berg Morrow of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on
 Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, 
Hays.&nbsp; Burial will be at 2:30 pm in McPherson City Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation
 will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 on Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel 
Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Wednesday at the church.
