Georgianna Marie "Georgia" Weber, 74, of Hutchinson, died October 14,
 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 23, 1945, in 
Norton, to Frank W. and Ruth J. (Bielser) Currier.

Georgia graduated from Hoxie High School in 1963 and from Northwest 
Kansas Technical College, as well as attended Fort Hays State 
University. She served on the kitchen staff in the Colby and St. Marys 
public schools. Georgia enjoyed camping and loved watching birds. She 
was a member of Hoxie Presbyterian Church.

On July 29, 1967, Georgia married Max E. Weber in Hoxie. They shared 53 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Ronda Hedrick (Aryn) of Nickerson, and
 Jenifer Lasky (Michael) of Wichita; grandchildren, Cayle, Lian, and 
Rayne Hedrick; sister, Wanita Smith (Tom) of Crestwell, OR; nephew, 
Scott Smith (Chris Brooks); great-nephew, Tanner Smith; great-nieces, 
Stephanie Mendoza (Luis), and Kimmie, Sol, Lily and Every Mendoza.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will
 be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the 
memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 
p.m. Monday thru Friday, October 23, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Clifford LaVerne “Red” Steckman, 84, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Red was born May 11, 1936, in Maywood, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was one of six children born to Doral C. and Mae Etta (Noah) Steckman.&nbsp; He grew up in California and Nebraska, graduating from Palisade, Nebraska in 1954. &nbsp;

Red served his country in the U.S. Air Force for eight and half years.&nbsp; He was a Crash Rescue and Fireman.

Red was united in marriage to Patricia Thayer on May 17, 1957, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, while he was in the military.&nbsp; This union was blessed with five children; Cliff, Leroy, LaResa, Charles and Tonnett.&nbsp; After his service, they lived in Macksville, Wichita, St. John, Johnson, Colby and Bunker Hill.

Red was an independent Truck Driver for many companies.&nbsp; He was the owner and operator of the Steckman Construction Company in the '70s.&nbsp; He was a Lineman for St. John and Johnson, Kansas; did road maintenance in Stafford County, ran a loader for Brown &amp; Brown and Venture Corp in Great Bend and retired from Venture.&nbsp; He was a member of the Russell American Legion Post #99.&nbsp; Red was an adventurous man who enjoyed being outside.&nbsp; He loved fishing, hunting coyotes and sharing his great sense of humor with family and friends.

Surviving family include his wife of 63 years, Patricia of the home; sons, Cliff Steckman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Leroy Steckman (Joetta) of Russell, Kansas, Charles Steckman (Deborah) of Houston, Texas; daughters, LaResa Likes (Eugene) of Great Bend, Kansas and Tonnett Rusch (Ruby) of Ellsworth, Kansas; sisters, Frances Moreland of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Lee Summers of Whitewater, Kansas and Mary McCune of Pratt, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, brother Doral Eugene Steckman, sister Claudine Butters and grandson Colton Leroy Cousins.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held.&nbsp; Military Rites will be conducted by the Russell V.F.W. Albert T. Walt, age 86, passed away at Cedar Village Long Term Care, Ness City, Kansas, on October 17, 2020.

Albert was born on Feburary 18, 1934 on the family farm near Collyer, Kansas, the son of Leocadia Kuntz and Antone Walt.

Albert attended Banner grade school, went on to graduate from St. 
Joseph's Military Academy (Thomas More Prep-Marian Jr./Sr. High School) 
Seminarian Class of 1952. Attended College at Ft. Hays State University.

Albert served in the US ARMY from March 1954 to March 1956

October 12, 1959, he married the love of his life Alberta A. Zimmerman who proceeded him in death on May 21, 2014.

Albert and Alberta made Utica, KS home from 1961 – 1996 where he worked at Utica Grain Inc.

In 1996 they made the move to Ness City Ks., Albert continued to work at Utica Grain Inc. until his retirement in 1998.

Albert was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus member.

Albert enjoyed going to polka dances with Alberta, fishing, hunting 
and never missed a chance to be at his children and grandchildren’s ball
 games. He spent countless nights on the porch listening to the Royals 
on the radio no matter how bad they were at the time. He was a caring 
and loving man and he will be missed greatly by the family and friends 
he has left behind.

Survivors include his sons, Tom Walt, Utica, KS, and Rodney (Traci)

Norma Jean Wagner, 85, passed away October 18, 2020, at her home in 
Great Bend. She was born July 27, 1935, in Bison, Kansas, to Jacob &amp; 
Rebecka (Brack) Hartman.

Norma was a waitress for many years and helped open up the Pizza Hut 
on Main street in Great Bend, waitressing there for 15 years. She was a 
member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Otis.

She met Harold Wagner, the love of her life, in December 1958 and 
married him on June 21, 1959. Norma and Harold looked forward to every 
October going to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the 8 day Hot Air Balloon 
Fiesta. She loved it. Norma and Harold were on a chase crew for 20 years
 and attended for 23 years. It was wonderful.

She was a proud mother of two girls, Deby (Wagner) Newsome, and Kim 
(Wagner) Roach, both of Great Bend; three grandchildren, Courtney James 
Wagner, Jayden Roach, and Jacob Roach; one sister in law, Arlene Maier 
of Colby; her beloved shih tzu, Abby; special friends, Paul and Karen 
Lambert, and Britt and Amy Guthrie; and her grandchildren in heart, 
Garett Guthrie, Gavin Guthrie, Dave Meyer, and Rachel Bennison. She was 
preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Rebecka Hartman; her 
husband, Harold Wagner; a brother, Marvin Hartman, and twin brother, 
Norman Hartman.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, 
October 21, 2020, with family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.,

Norma Jean Wagner

Robert Walker "R.W." Yeager, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2020, surrounded by family at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas. He was 89. 

R.W. was born on September 28, 1931, in Ashland, Kansas to William Raymond and Margaret (Piatt) Yeager. When he was young, his family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he attended Blessed Sacrament grade school through the 8th grade. He attended high school at St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, Kansas, graduating in 1949. R.W. received a degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1953. 

At K-State, he met the love of his life, Doris L. Schwab. On December 30, 1952, they were married at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita, and would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. At K-State, R.W. was a member of ROTC and the Phi Kappa Theta social fraternity. He and Doris made their home in Manhattan, Kansas, until R.W.'s graduation, when they moved to Ft. Benning, Georgia for R.W.'s basic officer training. For the remainder of his military service, he was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following his military service, R.W. and his family returned to Wichita, where he was a salesman for Triple S Steel Buildings. During this time, R.W. met Bill Sharp, and in 1957, he relocated his family to Norton to join Sharp Construction Company, which he eventually owned until his retirement. 

R.W. was a loyal friend and devoted community member. He was part of a group that was instrumental in Norton's growth, bringing the Pizza Hut and Sunflower Apartments to Norton. R.W. has been a longtime season ticket holder and supporter of K-State athletics and an Ahern Fund contributor. He was an avid golfer and card player at the Prairie Dog Golf Club. He enjoyed the art of creating stained glass and has many pieces displayed throughout Norton. R.W. was a staunch conservative and an active member in the Republican party. 

R.W.'s greatest joy and love in life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris, Norton; his children, Nancy (Jim) Lee, Lake Lotawana, Missouri; Sue (Greg) Gunther, Wichita; Robert "Bob" Yeager, Jr., Rio Rancho, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Carl Schwab; one sister-in-law, Catherine Yeager; other relatives and many friends. 

R.W. was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Guy Yeager, daughter-in-law, Denise Yeager, and three siblings, Marge, Bill and Nancy. 

There will be a private family Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of life at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Norton, Kansas; the Andbe Home, Norton, Kansas; Valley Hope, Norton, Kansas or to a charity of your choice.

Charlotte Sue Roberts, daughter of Earl and Mary (Shafer) Posson, was born April 21, 1939, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton on October 18, 2020, at the age of 81.

Charlotte grew up in Norton and attended the local schools.  She married Bobby Roberts in Norton, where they made their home and raised their family.  Charlotte was an LPN at the Andbe Home for many years.  Following her retirement and later due to health issues, she became a resident of the Andbe Home where she had spent her life caring for others. 

Charlotte was a member of the Norton Christian Church.

Survivors include:  one son, Steven "Bubba" Roberts, Norton; one daughter, Carolyn Foskuhl, Norton; two brothers, Bud Posson, Norton; Bill Posson, Stuttgart, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jerrod and Aaron Roberts, Jamie McCreery and Justin Wilhite; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew and Carsen Meitl, Kaitlyn McCreery, Natalie and Kylie Roberts, Andrew, Brenden, Cayden and Dylan Wilhite; other relatives and friends.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Randy, and one sister, Peggy Kindall.

Celebration of life will be Friday, October 30, 2020, at Norton Christian Church with inurnment in the Norton Cemetery.  A memorial has been established to Charlotte Roberts Memorial Fund.  Arrangements are with Enfield Funeral Home in Norton, and condolences may be sent to www.enfieldfh.com

Florence Jane “Janie” France, 93, Hays, died Friday, October 16, 2020, at Russell Regional Hospital.

She was born November 28, 1926, in 
Forestburg, Texas, the daughter of Noah Clifford and Zelma Bernice 
(Kuykendall) Gilley. She was a 1944 graduate of Whitharral High School 
in Whitharral, Texas. &nbsp;Janie’s first marriage was to William A. DeBusk 
on July 9, 1946, in Sudan, Texas. &nbsp;They divorced in 1970. &nbsp;Janie later 
married Jack B. France on November 5, 1976 in Denton, Texas. &nbsp;He 
preceded her in death on February 19, 1982. &nbsp;She was a telephone 
operator for General Telephone and a former member of the Church of 
Christ in Littlefield, Texas.&nbsp; She loved bowling, sewing and embroidery,
 jigsaw puzzles, visiting with family and friends, traveling and 
sightseeing, the color purple, and her precious dog Jenny.

Survivors include her son: Wayne A. 
DeBusk and wife Dolly of Hays, two granddaughters: Kristin Stone and 
husband Nathan of Little Elm, TX and Elizabeth Jorgenson and husband 
Ande of Omaha, NE, and four great grandchildren: Rebekah, Joshua, 
Tucker, and Truett.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, and two brothers: Elwin and Weldon Gilley.

Longtime Goodland, KS resident Irma Lee Osborn, 92, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at the Topside Manor in Goodland.

Irma was born on March 31, 1928, in White City, Kansas to Irvin and LaVella Simonton.&nbsp; When she was in elementary school, the family moved to Manhattan, KS where she graduated from Manhattan High School in 1946.

After high school, she moved to Dallas, TX to pursue her dream of being and Airline Stewardess, but because she didn’t meet the height requirement, she worked in the office of Delta Airlines.&nbsp; After a year, she was homesick and moved back to Manhattan.&nbsp; She attended Kansas State University, where she met the man of her dreams.&nbsp; Edgar (Ozzie) and Irma were married in Manhattan on June 7, 1953, at the Methodist Church.

Irma spent all of her married life in Goodland, KS.&nbsp; Her passion was music.&nbsp; She owned Osborn Music Studio for 20 years where she taught many students piano, organ and guitar lessons. She was the pianist and organist for the Goodland United Methodist Church for many years.&nbsp; She was also the junior choir director for many years.&nbsp; Irma played for many wedding over the years as well.

Irma and Ozzie were avid K-State fans.&nbsp; They were season ticket holders to football and basketball at KSU for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on January 3, 2013, and a brother-in-law Cliff Hoskinson.

She is survived by her children Chuck Osborn of Grants, New Mexico, Loretta (Michael) Borgmann of Goodland, KS, and Melinda Strickland of Denver, CO; her grandchildren Blake (Anais) Osborn, Jessica Osborn and Devinee Borgmann.&nbsp; She is also survived by one sister Barbara Hoskinson of Parker, CO And a brother Calvin (Dorothy) Simonton of Kirkland, WA.

Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the Goodland Cemetery.

On Friday, October 16th, 2020, Helen Rhea, loving wife and mother of six children, passed away at the age of 74. 
 Helen Elaine (Hatfield) Rhea was born on March 27, 1946 in Brainerd 
Minnesota to Benjamin and Sophia (Schuler) Hatfield. In 1973 she married
 the love of her life, Randal Rhea Sr.&nbsp; They had six children, Ricky, 
Steven, Beverly, Sandra, Randal Jr. and Nicole. Helen spent most of her 
days, until her passing, with her husband running their business, Rhea’s
 Tree Service. She is remembered by her family for her kind spirit and 
willingness to lend a helping hand. Helen was there for those who needed
 it, and always answered her phone for family members far away who 
wanted to talk. Helen was preceded in death by her father, 
Benjamin Hatfield, her mother, Sophia Hatfield, her son, Ricky Nelson, 
and 6 of her siblings: Alfred Hatfield, Deloris Jones, Marjori Hatfield,

Rodric D. “Rod” Nyp passed away on October 15, 2020, at the HCA Houston 
Healthcare Center in Tomball, Texas, at the age of 72. He was born in 
Hays, Kansas to Paul Nyp and Delora (Stull) Teasley on June 6, 1948. He
 was blessed with two daughters: Kristen and Cara.
 Rod grew up in Kansas and attended High School at Palco High where 
he graduated with the class of 1966. Following graduation, he attended 
Kansas Wesleyan University, where he studied Biology and competed for 
the Track team for 3 years before enlisting in the United States Army in
 1970. He served for 3 years with the Big Red 1 Infantry in Germany 
before being honorably discharged in 1973. Rod had a successful career 
in the Oilfield Pump business. Rod later moved to Magnolia, Texas where 
he made his home and worked for Knighten Industries as an Application 
Engineer. 
 Rod enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 
granddaughters. He also enjoyed watching sporting events like NASCAR, 
Horse Racing, College Football, and Baseball. If there wasn’t a sporting
 event on, he would be watching the farm channel or a history 
documentary on the military. And if he wasn’t with his family, he was 
listening to music, or you could catch him working outside in his yard. 
Rod was a member of the VFW and NRA.
 Rod is survived by his mother Delora Teasley; children, Kristen 
(Stewart) Husband of Tomball, and Cara (Jeff) Rasberry of Tomball; 
siblings, Roland (Irene) Nyp of Stockton, KS and Pam (Rob) Eledge of 
Omaha, NE; and three grandchildren.
 He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Nyp.
 A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 
the Pleasantview Cemetery in Palco, KS at 11 AM. Visitation will be held

Robin Marie Misegadis, 62, Rush Center, Kansas, died Friday, October 16, 2020, at her home.

Robin was born August 9, 1958, in La Crosse, Kansas, the daughter of 
Loren and Phyllis (Seltmann) Wright. She was a lifelong resident of Rush
 County, Kansas. A 1976 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, 
Kansas, she graduated from National College with a Bachelor’s Degree in 
Business Finance. On July 31, 1977, she married Todd Misegadis at the 
United Methodist Church, Alexander, Kansas.

Robin was a member of the United Methodist Church, La Crosse, Kansas,
 where she was the church secretary for several years. She was employed 
by Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas, for many years and
 later for Dechant &amp; Taylor, La Crosse, Kansas.

Robin loved spending time with and sewing for her three 
granddaughters. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. She was known
 for her big servings and big heart.

Survivors include: her husband, Todd Misegadis, Rush Center, Kansas; 
one son, Jason Misegadis (Danielle), Wichita, Kansas; three 
granddaughters, Chellsea, Hailey, and Emilia Misegadis; her father and

Dorothy J. Evans, age 85, of Oakley, passed away on Thursday, October
 15, 2020 at the Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, KS.&nbsp; She was 
born on September 27, 1935 in rural Scott City, Scott County to Roy and 
Iva (Crane) Rose.&nbsp; She married Leland Frank Evans on May 23, 1954 in 
Oakley, and was a farmer's wife and a long time area resident.

Dorothy enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with 
friends.&nbsp; She was involved in bible studies, teaching bible school, and 
Sunday school.&nbsp; She liked flying with her husband, Leland, and going on 
fly-ins to meet up with friends, and taking family to go to other fun 
places.&nbsp; She also enjoyed going to horse shows to watch her youngest 
daughter participate and then later on, watching her grandchildren play 
sports.&nbsp; Dorothy was a member of the Country Chapel and the Gove 
Community Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her 
parents:&nbsp; Roy R. Rose and Iva M. (Crane) Rose, husband Leland (1987),

Dorothy J. Evans

Selma Faye Webb, 87, died October 16, 2020, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born August 10, 1933, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ottis Clinton and Mable (Hefley) Flippin.

On August 26, 1952, she married Harold Harvey Webb in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2002.

A resident of Hoisington since 1964, Selma was a homemaker and had 
worked at Clara Barton Hospital as a dietary aide and in housekeeping. 
She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church of Hoisington.

Selma was always very involved in her community. When her children 
were young, she was a Boy Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader, led 
fundraisers for sports teams and other organizations, and was a 
co-founder of the Hoisington Youth Wrestling Club. Later she was active 
with the Heritage Club, RSVP Thrift Store, volunteering for the Blood 
Mobile, and as a Pink Lady at Clara Barton Hospital. When not 
volunteering she loved to travel. She was blessed to get to take 
multiple trips both domestic and abroad, visiting several different 
countries. She enjoyed group bus tours and mission trips. She was a 
voracious reader, and her trips were often inspired by reading about a 
place and convincing Harold, or later her close companion Garry, that 
they needed to go check it out.

Selma is survived by; sons, Phillip Webb and wife Celia of 
Hoisington, and John Webb and wife Courtney of Noble, Oklahoma; a 
daughter, Martha Jones and husband Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 
daughters-in-law, Julie Webb of St. Louis, Missouri, and Marcia Webb of 
Carl Junction, Missouri; longtime companion, Garry Dassow of Hoisington;
 sisters, Nina Hulsey of Grove, Oklahoma, and Jayne Mitchell of Tulsa, 
Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, Corey Webb, Scott Webb, Samuel Webb, Nathan 
Webb, Joseph Webb, Dacon Parks, Rachel Jones, Ethan Jones, Ryan Webb, 
and Grant Webb; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sons, Alan, Paul, and Mark Webb.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke 
Funeral Home, with family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 
p.m. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Elmwood 
Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Joel Carlton Graham, age 63, of Quinter, “fell asleep in Christ” (1 
Cor. 15:12-20) Tuesday morning, October 13, 2020 at Gove County Medical 
Center in Quinter.&nbsp;

He was born on January 23, 1957 in Quinter, Kansas to Chester Edward and Carlene Edith (McWilliams) Graham.&nbsp;

“Joey,” as he was known by family and friends, made his way through 
the Quinter school system, graduating from QHS in 1975. He enjoyed and 
excelled in bookkeeping and business machine courses. During High School
 and for several years following Joey worked for his Uncle Jimmie Graham
 at the Q-Inn Restaurant eventually as a head cook. He later worked at 
Flex King Industries as an Accounting Assistant.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He lived in Denver, Colorado from 1985-1995, working for Hamilton Oil
 Company Inc., a Subsidiary of BHP Petroleum. &nbsp;He thoroughly enjoyed 
this life calling and attained to “Senior Assistant Office Services.” He
 moved back to Quinter in 1995 and spent the remainder of his days there
 in this earthly journey heavenward.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was spiritually nurtured and led to saving faith by his parents 
and regularly attended Church throughout his entire life. Joey delighted
 in and maintained cordial relations with many fellow believers across 
denominational lines.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Joel is survived by his brother, Ron and wife Gay Graham, of Colorado
 Springs, Colorado and his sister, Marianne and husband Chris Pleich, of
 Lincoln, California and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Due to the current pandemic a private, informal burial will be 
observed by family and friends at the Baker Township Cemetery, East of 
Quinter.&nbsp;

Joel 'Joey' C. Graham

William “Bill” Weeks, long time resident of Hoxie, passed away on 
Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the Sheridan County Health Complex.  

Bill 
was born on May 23, 1931 on the family farm in rural Sheridan County. 
He was one of seven children born to Clarence and Pearl (Godrey) Weeks. 
He attended country school and graduated from Hoxie High School in 
1949. In 1951, Bill joined the United States Army and was shipped to 
Korea and worked in communications. After serving his country, Bill 
returned home and married Lulu Bethany “Beth” Potterf December 2, 1954, 
in Winona, Kansas. Bill worked for a short while for Beth’s parents in 
Russell Springs, Kansas. When Bill’s father passed away in 1956, Bill, 
being the eldest son, took over the family farm. Bill and Beth were 
blessed with four sons, Larry, Darrell, Dale, and Richard. Beth became 
ill and passed away on September 6, 1991. On August 15, 1997, Bill 
married Edis “Pat” Marcotte. She passed away on September 28, 2017. 
Bill continued to live on the farm until the time of his passing.
 Bill spent his life working as a farmer and rancher. One of his 
favorite times on the farm, was calving time. He so enjoyed seeing the 
newborn calves. He retired from farming in 2001; however, he was always
 a farmer at heart. There was one winter he worked for Foster Lumber 
Company, and he did drive a school bus for USD 412. Bill was always 
tinkering and thinking about things trying to improve them and being a 
welder, welding things. When Bill was not working or “tinkering”, he 
loved to fish and camp. He recently spent a week camping and fishing at
 Sheridan Lake. A highlight during that time was when his son, Dale, 
came to spend the day with him on the lake fishing. Bill was the kind 
of person who made you feel good when you talked with him. He might get
 upset, but he never held a grudge. Bill was a good mentor to his sons 
by demonstrating hard work, being fair, honest and a good man. Bill was
 caring and loving. His family was so important to him, and he loved 
them very much. Bill could be described as caring and loving. He was a
 member of the Hoxie United Methodist Church and believed in the Lord. 
 Bill is survived by his sons, Larry Weeks (Barb) of Victoria, Texas,
 Darrell Weeks of Garden City, Kansas, Dale WeeksSherry of Saint 
Francis, Kansas , and Richard Weeks, Garden City, Kansas; brother, Murl
 Weeks (Anita) of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Judy Weeks of Hoxie, Kansas; 
 grand- children; numerous great-grand children; three step-sons; four
 step-daughters; and nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his wives, Beth Weeks and Pat Weeks; 
parents, Clarence and Pearl Weeks; brother, Al Weeks; and sisters, 
Violet Rogers, Marg Thaden, Alice Pratt, and, infant sister, Nellie 
Weeks. 
 A Funeral Service is planned for Friday, October 16, 2020, 11:00 
A.M., at the Hoxie United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the

William 'Bill' Weeks

Eulalia Ochs was born December 14, 1931 to Ray and Clementina 
(Depperschmidt) Goetz. She passed away October 13, 2020 at the Gove 
County Long Term Care Facility, Quinter, KS at the age of 88.
 She married Leo Ochs on April 11, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Church in Park. 
 Rooted in her Catholic faith, “Lalia” raised her family of eight 
children - alongside her loving husband - on the family farm near Park, 
Kansas. Her love of God, family, and friends was sewn into each of her 
children as she guided them into their individual lives. She was not 
only a teacher of love and kindness but was also a great role model of 
this for her family. She will always be cherished as a patient teacher 
and sage confidante. 
 Eulalia will be remembered by all for her bright, loving eyes and 
welcoming smile. She loved welcoming visitors into her home, and would 
most often be found either whipping up a delicious meal or snuggled with
 one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren in the rocking chair. 
She had many talents and hobbies including being a talented seamstress 
and quilter, a wonderful cook and baker. She loved to travel and 
thoroughly enjoyed the trips that she and Leo were able to take. 
 She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her quiet way of giving and supporting unselfishly will live on in our memories.

(Depperschmidt) Goetz. She passed away October 13, 2020 at the Gove 
County Long Term Care Facility, Quinter, KS at the age of 88.
 She married Leo Ochs on April 11, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Church in Park. 
 Rooted in her Catholic faith, “Lalia” raised her family of eight 
children - alongside her loving husband - on the family farm near Park, 
Kansas. Her love of God, family, and friends was sewn into each of her 
children as she guided them into their individual lives. She was not 
only a teacher of love and kindness but was also a great role model of 
this for her family. She will always be cherished as a patient teacher 
and sage confidante. 
 Eulalia will be remembered by all for her bright, loving eyes and 
welcoming smile. She loved welcoming visitors into her home, and would 
most often be found either whipping up a delicious meal or snuggled with
 one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren in the rocking chair. 
She had many talents and hobbies including being a talented seamstress 
and quilter, a wonderful cook and baker. She loved to travel and 
thoroughly enjoyed the trips that she and Leo were able to take. 
 She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her quiet way of giving and supporting unselfishly will live on in our memories.

John H. Luerman Sr., 88, passed away October 16, 2020, at his home 
in Hoisington, Kansas. He was born March 1, 1932, on the family farm 
north of Susank, the son of Herman C. and Mathilda A. (Meyeres) Luerman.
 John graduated from Hoisington High School in 1950. He later enlisted 
in the United States Air Force serving from 1952 to 1955.

On December 29, 1962, he married Phyllis N. Neal in Hoisington. She preceded him in death just 8 days ago, on October 8, 2020.

A lifetime Hoisington area resident, John was a farmer and also spent
 time working in the oil field. He was a member of the American Legion 
Post #286. John enjoyed bowling and playing cards, and time spent with 
family and friends.

Survivors include three sons; John Luerman and wife Amy of rural 
Susank, Andy Luerman and wife Becky of Ashland, and Billy Luerman of 
Susank; six grandchildren, Shyla Goodnight (Aaron), Anthony Luerman, Jay
 Luerman (Joanna), Shelby Luerman, Damon Luerman (Peanut) and J.J. 
Luerman; two great grandchildren, Lane Luerman and Tucker Goodnight; a 
sister-in-law, Sallie Hager of Claflin; and two brothers-in-law; Cecil 
Neal of Oregon, Wis. and Willis Neal of Overland Park.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020, at 
Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Fisher. Interment with 
military honors will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. 
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18th, 2020.

John H. Luerman Sr.

Rose Marie (Beckman) Hartman, 81, passed away from complications of 
COVID-19 on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Long Term Care in Quinter, 
KS. She was born on the family farm near Menlo, KS on February 12, 1939,
 the last of nine children of William and Anna (Robben) Beckman. She 
graduated from Menlo High School in 1957 and then ventured off to 
Denver, CO to begin her secretarial career. While on a visit home to see
 her parents, she met Doug Hartman of Grainfield, KS on a blind date set
 up by her brother Dennis. On September 24, 1966, Rose Marie and Doug 
married at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Seguin, KS.

Rose Marie and Doug made their first home on a farm west of Park, KS.
 Over the years they and their growing family lived in Saint Francis, 
KS; Lincoln, NE; Dodge City, KS; Hutchinson, KS; Amarillo, TX; and West 
Des Moines, IA. Rose Marie was a fiercely devoted and supportive mother 
to her sons Christopher, born in 1968, and Gregory, who arrived in 1973.

Following her husband’s death in West Des Moines in 1983, Rose Marie 
joined Widowed Persons’ Service, a program sponsored by AARP, and later 
became a facilitator for the group. In 1985 she helped found a social 
group for widowed people in Iowa and published a monthly newsletter 
which she prepared in her home for over 200 subscribers.

In 2000 Rose Marie moved from West Des Moines to Colorado Springs, CO
 and then returned to Grainfield in 2002 to enjoy her retirement. She 
purchased her home in Grainfield from the estate of her parents-in-law, 
Lawrence and Jennie Hartman.

Rose Marie was employed at various office jobs throughout her working
 years, most recently at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and
 Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

From a young age, Rose Marie was blessed with musical ability and 
started playing the piano by ear at the age of three. In addition to 
piano, she played the accordion and keyboard and enjoyed providing 
musical entertainment for hospitals, rest homes, retirement homes, and 
private parties. She was a church organist at Sacred Heart Cathedral in 
Dodge City and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Rose Marie was a
 parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield.

Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband Douglas; her parents;
 brothers Charles, William, James, Francis, and Robert; parents-in-law 
Lawrence and Jennie Hartman; brothers-in-law Ben Ostmeyer, Kay Driver, 
and Ralph, Delmar, Frank, and Albert Hartman; and sisters-in-law 
Geraldine (Betty) Beckman, Lorraine Hartman and Carol (Shafer) Hartman.

She is survived by her sons Chris, of Grainfield, and Greg (Maria), 
of Del Norte, CO; a brother, Dennis, of Colorado Springs; sisters Anna 
Bell Ostmeyer of Hoxie, KS and Bea Driver of Goodland, KS; 
brothers-in-law Elmer (Laverna) Hartman of Lakewood, CO; James Hartman, 
of Park, and Robert (Kathy) Hartman of Grainfield; sister-in-law Rita 
(Lindeman) Beckman of Hoxie; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

At this time, only private family services will be taking place.

Hunt, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 20, 1935 in Macon, Illinois, the daughter of Charlie Lear and Gertrude Inez Keen Sadler.&nbsp; A resident of WIchita County, Kansas since 1955 moving from Dighton, Kansas, she was a farm wife. She was a member of the Lydia Methodist Church in Lydia, Kansas, and was past board member of the Wichita County Hospital, Wichita County Extension and the Wichita County FSA Office. On November 7, 1953 she married Bertys Hunt in Nottoway County, Virginia.&nbsp; He passed away on November 27, 2018 in Garden City, Kansas. He was born September 16, 1935, in Munjor, Kansas, to Fidelis Sr and Adeline (Befort) Engel. Fidelis was a lifetime farmer in the Munjor, Kansas, area who dedicated his life to the land. His favorite past-time was reading, especially the Farm Journal, which he read from cover to cover.&nbsp; He is survived by three sons, Fidelis “Dale” Engel III (Jody) of Bloomington, Ill., Bruce K. Engel (Marilyn) of Hays, Darin J. Fidelis Engel Jr.

February 24, 1935 - October 11, 2020, age 85

Gene 
was born to Faye and Margaret Mercer in Fort Scott, Kansas, where he 
went to elementary, middle and high school and JUCO of Fort Scott. 
Afterwards, he attended the Winona School of Photography in Indiana. He 
was hired by Kansas Gas and Electric of Wichita as their industrial 
photographer.&nbsp; It was there he met Karol Ziegler, formally of Collyer, 
Kansas, daughter of Frank and Lucille Ziegler. &nbsp;Karol and Gene married 
in 1960 and had 4 children. During this time, he served in the Army 
National Reserve for 4 years.&nbsp; In 1969, he moved his family to Colorado 
and became a Hotsy Distributor covering a 3 state area.&nbsp; He later had a 
long career as an underground fault finder, based out of Centennial 
Colorado, where the children grew up. He retired in 2012. &nbsp;In February 
of 2020, he and Karol moved to Arlington, Texas and lived there until 
his death.&nbsp;

Gene loved building model airplanes, woodworking, archery, fishing, 
camping and especially motorcycling. For quite a few years, he enjoyed 
piloting his own Cessna plane, and was also an accomplished gunsmith. &nbsp;

Surviving him are his wife, Karol Mercer, two daughters: Jean Ann 
Mercer {Jerry Fetterman} of Yellow Jacket, Colorado, and Barbara {Steve}
 Gray of San Antonio, Texas; and one son Mathew {Tracie} Mercer of 
Arlington Texas. One son-in-law, Les Wenger of Scottsdale, Arizona.&nbsp; He 
leaves behind 5 beloved grandchildren: Karoline Gray and Sam Gray, both 
students at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama;&nbsp;Logan, Madeline, and 
Dylan Mercer, living with their parents, Mathew and Tracie. Surviving 
in-laws include: &nbsp;Phillip {Jerry} Ziegler of Pratt, Kansas; Diane 
{James} Swisher of Houston Texas; Annette {Jerry} William of Hays, 
Kansas; Ronald {Rhoda} Ziegler of Collyer, Kansas; Jane Flagler of 
Overland Park, Kansas; Susan {Mike} Morgenstern of Lone Tree, Colorado. 
He is also survived by 1 cousin, Betsy Hamm of Topeka, Kansas, and many 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Susan 
Mercer-Wenger, who died in 2017.&nbsp;

Final arrangements will be in Fort Scott, Kansas, at a later date to 
be announced. &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, memorials of Gene may be sent to:

February 24, 1935 - October 11, 2020, age 85Gene 
was born to Faye and Margaret Mercer in Fort Scott, Kansas, where he 
went to elementary, middle and high school and JUCO of Fort Scott. 
Afterwards, he attended the Winona School of Photography in Indiana. He 
was hired by Kansas Gas and Electric of Wichita as their industrial 
photographer.&nbsp; It was there he met Karol Ziegler, formally of Collyer, 
Kansas, daughter of Frank and Lucille Ziegler. &nbsp;Karol and Gene married 
in 1960 and had 4 children. During this time, he served in the Army 
National Reserve for 4 years.&nbsp; In 1969, he moved his family to Colorado 
and became a Hotsy Distributor covering a 3 state area.&nbsp; He later had a 
long career as an underground fault finder, based out of Centennial 
Colorado, where the children grew up. He retired in 2012. &nbsp;In February 
of 2020, he and Karol moved to Arlington, Texas and lived there until 
his death.&nbsp;Gene loved building model airplanes, woodworking, archery, fishing, 
camping and especially motorcycling. For quite a few years, he enjoyed 
piloting his own Cessna plane, and was also an accomplished gunsmith. &nbsp;Surviving him are his wife, Karol Mercer, two daughters: Jean Ann 
Mercer {Jerry Fetterman} of Yellow Jacket, Colorado, and Barbara {Steve}
 Gray of San Antonio, Texas; and one son Mathew {Tracie} Mercer of 
Arlington Texas. One son-in-law, Les Wenger of Scottsdale, Arizona.&nbsp; He 
leaves behind 5 beloved grandchildren: Karoline Gray and Sam Gray, both 
students at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama;&nbsp;Logan, Madeline, and 
Dylan Mercer, living with their parents, Mathew and Tracie. Surviving 
in-laws include: &nbsp;Phillip {Jerry} Ziegler of Pratt, Kansas; Diane 
{James} Swisher of Houston Texas; Annette {Jerry} William of Hays, 
Kansas; Ronald {Rhoda} Ziegler of Collyer, Kansas; Jane Flagler of 
Overland Park, Kansas; Susan {Mike} Morgenstern of Lone Tree, Colorado. 
He is also survived by 1 cousin, Betsy Hamm of Topeka, Kansas, and many 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Susan 
Mercer-Wenger, who died in 2017.&nbsp;Final arrangements will be in Fort Scott, Kansas, at a later date to
