Bertha M. 'Bertie' Lang

Bertha M. “Bertie” Lang, 92, Hays, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 26, 1928, in Catharine, the daughter of Justus P. and Bertha (Staab) Walters.  On May 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ralph J. Lang in Catharine, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 21, 2013.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella Circle #254.  Bertie loved babies and enjoyed baking for her family.

Survivors include her four sons:  Robert Lang and wife Mary of Manhattan, Steve Lang of Lawrence, Tim Lang and wife Lisa, and Brian Lang and wife Anne all of Hays, two sisters: Dorothy Lang and Shirley Weigel, both of Hays, 12 grandchildren: Chad Lang and wife Kelly, Clint Lang, Carson Lang and wife Shelby, Brent Lang, Chris Lang, Devin Lang and wife Ashley, Colin Lang and wife Mary, Emily Thomasson and husband Scott, Beth Aldridge and husband Nathan, Crystal Cummins, Lauren Westfall and husband Adam, and Grace Lang, 17 great grandchildren: Kyle, Bobby, Casey, Kyra, Austin, Daimon, Mason, Brianna, Charlotte, Allie, Jace, Camden, Marabelle, Nolan, Dylan, Dustin, and Derek, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, nine brothers: Alfred “Fritz”, Florence, Paul, Rudolf, Rupert, Rudolf, Romauld, Francis, and Alexius Walters, and three sisters: Emelia Cole, Helen Stecklein, and Adelaide Dinkel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Nick Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30 pm all on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Condolences and memories of Bertie may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
