Beulah Mae Gillespie, 94, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 
Gove County Long Term Care in Quinter, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born June 28th, 1926 in Orion, Kansas to Joseph Maddox and Myrtle Kreigh Maddox at the family farm.&nbsp;

Beulah graduated from Oakley High School in 1944.&nbsp; She then attended 
Fort Hays State University where she received her teaching certificate.&nbsp;
 She taught school at several different one room country schools in Gove
 County until she married William Dean Gillespie in January of 1951. To 
this union 7 children were born-Kim, Terry, Lyle, Kyle, Diane, Gail, and
 Mark Gillespie.&nbsp;

As a devoted farm wife and mother, she spent her life on the family 
farm.&nbsp; Beulah was very active in the Grainfield United Methodist Church 
all of her life.&nbsp; She was a member of the Grinnell Women’s VFW Auxiliary
 and Big Creek EHU.&nbsp; She was also a member of Eastern Star for many 
years.&nbsp; Beulah enjoyed cooking, gardening, and when she was able, she 
enjoyed traveling.&nbsp; Over the years, she had multiple hip replacements on
 the same hip that never seemed to keep her down, and gave Beulah her 
signature limp. &nbsp;Beulah’s long life enabled her to witness some of the 
most important events of the 20th century including the great
 depression and WWII.&nbsp; These events shaped her worldview and gave her a 
deep appreciation of the really important things in life.

She is survived by her sister, Lois Campbell; youngest son, Mark; 
daughter-in-law, Gloria Gillespie; grandsons Kevin and wife Melissa, and
 Corey and wife Alicia; step-grandsons, Jimmy Griffin and Matthew 
Stranghoner; and 3 great-grandsons, Parker, Canaan, Maxx, and soon to be
 Payton Gillespie.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Myrtle Maddox; 
brothers Raymond, Harold, Donald, and Clyde; and her children Kim, 
Terry, Kyle, Lyle, Diane, and Gail.&nbsp;

Memorial Service will 10:00 a.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter, 
Kansas, Friday, October 16, 2020.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Grainfield 
Cemetery.

There will be no visitation as cremation was chosen.&nbsp;

Beulah Mae Gillespie

Donis Claudene Mitchell 91, passed away on October 9, 2020, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  She was born on June 18, 1929, in Scott City, Kansas, and was the eldest daughter of Claude and Thelma Helfrick Hughes.

Donis grew up on the Hughes family farm west of Scott City.  She graduated from Scott Community High School in 1947 and from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1949.  While a senior in high school, Donis was introduced to Lewis (Mitch) Mitchell at the May Fete, and their courtship began and continued throughout college.  They were married on August 13, 1949, and moved to Lawrence where Mitch completed his final semester at KU and Donis worked at Weavers Department Store.  

Donis and Mitch returned to Scott City to farm and start their family.   They kept very busy with farming and supporting their children’s school and extracurricular activities.  Donis was a great cook but an even better baker.  She made the best pies and cookies, which she shared with her extended family and church community.  Her granddaughter Catie loved to make cakes and cookies with her, and now carries on in her grandmother’s tradition.  Donis always planted a garden and shared her produce with neighbors and friends before canning the rest.  She lived through the depression and learned frugality at a young age.

Donis was a founding and faithful member of the El Quartelejo Study Club, where she enjoyed participating in plays written by Ruby Rodenbeek.  She also was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women, her Circle group, and taught Sunday school for many years.  Donis and Mitch formed a monthly bible study group (“The Group”) with several couples with whom they made and deepened life long friendships.

Donis and Mitch were avid Jayhawk basketball fans.  Over the years they seldom missed watching a game and attended games in Lawrence, Kansas City, and California cheering on their team.  Donis continued to watch KU basketball games after she moved to Rhode Island much to the amusement of her caregivers.

Mitch passed away after 66 years of marriage, and Donis moved to Rhode Island to be near her daughter and son-in-law.  She enjoyed seeing the sites in New England and loved frequent visits from her California family to celebrate holidays and milestone birthdays.  Donis never lost touch with her community back home in Scott City thanks to the many cards and letters sent by her friends and family.  She would read them repeatedly, and always looked forward to the arrival of the Scott County Record and the Methodist church bulletins.

Donis is survived by her three daughters Meredith Mitchell of San Francisco, CA, Melanie, and her husband Stephen Key of Providence, RI, Marci, her husband John Duys of San Anselmo, CA, and her granddaughter Catherine Mitchell Duys of Berkeley, CA.  She is also survived by her sister Connie Posl and husband Charles; her brother Bob Hughes and wife Cheryl; her sisters-in-law Charlene Hughes and Betty Ann Hughes; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband Mitch, her son Marc, her sister Dee Hoeme and brother-in-law Albert Hoeme, and brothers Harold and Calvin (“Butch”)  Hughes.  

Donis will be laid to rest next to Mitch in a private graveside service in Scott County Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the United Methodist Church or Camp Lakeside.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at Price &amp; Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Kenneth E. Wasinger, age 69, passed away at Ascension Via Christi St.
 Francis Hospital, Wichita on October 12, 2020.&nbsp; He was born on April 
27, 1951 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Nicholas and Wilma (Munch) 
Wasinger, while his father was deployed in Korea.&nbsp; Kenny attended Sacred
 heart School and Ness City High School both in Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; Upon
 graduation Kenny served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the
 Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City American Legion Frank Stull Post 152 and the Ransom VFW Post 7972.

Upon his return from the military, Kenny attended K-State university 
where he played on the rugby team.&nbsp; Kenny was known by his friends and 
family as K-Dub.&nbsp; Kenny loved the outdoors and worked for local farmers 
during harvest.&nbsp; He spent many winters coyote hunting and was an avid 
sports fan.&nbsp; He worked at the Ness County courthouse as a 
janitor/maintenance man for many years until his retirement earlier this
 year.

Kenny is survived by his mother, Wilma Drake, Ness City; brothers, 
Layne and Alan Wasinger, Ness City; Sisters, Linda Cox (Bob Denning), 
Hanston, Lavonne Mishler (Tom Coker), Hays and Luciann Ogden (John), 
Canon City, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He was preceded in 
death by his father, Nick Wasinger; brothers, Jim and Verlyn Wasinger; 
nephews, Justin Cox and Tanner Mishler; and great niece, Courie Cox.

Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Wednesday, October 14 from 2:30 until 9:00 p.m.

Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Parish Vigil at 7:00.

Kenneth E. Wasinger

Gilbert Phlieger, 86, died on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Kearny 
County Hospital in Lakin. He was born on September 1, 1934, at Quinter 
the son of Mike &amp; Rosina (Waldman) Phlieger. He married Joan J. 
Loevenstein on September 2, 1961, at Collyer. She died on July 24, 1983.
 He later married Margaret “Peg” Thayer on May 24, 1986, at Garden City.
 She died on January 24, 2015. 
Gilbert grew up on the family farm near Quinter and graduated from 
Quinter High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army as a 
Medic stationed in Germany from 1958 to 1960 and in the Army Reserves 
from 1960 to 1964. After his discharge he worked for Quinter Co-op 
before going to work as a Salesman for White Farm Equipment in Sedalia, 
Missouri. In 1983 he moved to Versatile Farm Equipment and in 1988 he 
went to Krause Plow and retired from there in 2000. He moved to Garden 
City in 1986 and to Lakin in 2008 while also enjoying spending time at 
his homes in Harlingen, Texas and Cole Camp, Missouri on the Lake of the
 Ozarks. He was a very kind person and enjoyed collecting die cast 
scale tractors as well as watching all types of sports. Gilbert was a 
lifelong Catholic and belonged to St Michael Catholic Church in Collyer 
until 1985, St Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City from 1985 until 
2008 and St Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin after moving there. 
Survivors include his 2 Step-Sons- Mike Thayer of Lakin and Sean Thayer 
of Garden City, Step-Daughter- Nan Thayer Kartsonis of Tucson, Arizona, 2
 Sisters- Annetta Phlieger and Loretta Turner both of Quinter, 6 
Step-Grandchildren- Jeffrey Thayer, Andy Thayer, Gilbert Thayer, Allison
 Thayer Scherrer, Mackenzie Thayer and Cooper Thayer and 7 
Step-Great-Grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his Parents, both Wives, 2 Sisters- Renilda
 Fitzpatrick and Armella Phlieger and 2 Brothers- Norbert Phlieger and 
Alvin Phlieger. 
Private Funeral Mass will be at St Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin with

Gilbert Phlieger

Raymond Curtis Lofland, 57, of Atwood, died October 7th, 2020, at Swedish
 Medical Center, Englewood, CO. He was born November 7th, 1962, in 
Syracuse, KS to Roy &amp; Betty Lofland. 
Ray graduated from Atwood High School Class of 1981. Throughout his high
 school days he was involved in Pep Club, Band, Drum Trio, Boy’s Glee, 
Choir, Consort “Royal Burgundian” Choir, Pep Band, Marching Band, 
Dixieland Band, Stage Band, Musicals and Kansas Lions Band. He loved the
 drums and had an amazing voice. His senior quote, “Yea though I walk 
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, because I
 am still trying to figure out what happened the last four years." 
After High School he attended Truck Driving School in Dodge City, KS. He
 drove for various companies through the years including Penske where he
 later became their IT specialist. He taught at a Truck Driving School 
in Denver for a few years. Ray was a Self-Taught Mechanic and a 
Self-Taught IT Specialist. Ray was an Information Sponge! He could learn
 how to do anything just by reading about it. 
Ray returned to Atwood full time in 2002. Upon his return, he started 
his own IT Service, “Barely Wired”. He quickly became the “Go to Guy” 
for all things Technology. 
In 2008, he set up his own system to do the “Bluing” process on choke 
tubes &amp; contracted with Carlson’s to provide them that service. In 
2011 Carlson’s built a building specifically for the Bluing Process and 
Ray moved the equipment over and continued to do the bluing until 2017. 
From 2008-2012, Ray Contracted, as Barely Wired, with Rawlins County USD 
105, as their IT Specialist. After a 4 year leave he returned to the 
school district, as their IT Specialist in 2017 &amp; was still employed
 there when he passed away. 
Ray was very active in the community. He was a member of Lion’s Club 
International from September 2003 – October 2015. He was Club President 
from July 2005-July 2010 and Zone Chairperson from July 2011-July, 2012.
 He received several awards during his time as a member including: 
Membership Key, Membership Advancement Key, Builder Key, Sr. Builder 
Key, 10 Year Monarch Chevron, Master Key &amp; extension Award 1. Ray 
helped Charter the “Hoxie Hottrodders Lion’s Club” in 2012. He was also 
the spearhead for the “Final Fling” Drag Races that are held the 1st 
weekend in October. Ray was an Atwood Ambassador Member for 10 years. He
 was head of Rod Run Registration for the majority of those years he 
spent as an Ambassador. 
He enjoyed working on, rebuilding and riding Motorcycles. He also loved 
to cook, especially Grilling. He had just recently completed his “Cooker
 Trailer”, equipped with 3 smokers, one of which was for Ribs Only. He 
could make a mean brisket and rack of ribs, just ask the teachers! He 
was an amazing person and a great friend. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; Roy &amp; Betty Lofland. 
He is survived by his brother; Ed Lofland (Joyce) of North Dakota; 
nephews, Heath Lofland, of Atwood, Tysen Lofland, of New Mexico, Cody 
Lofland, of Idaho and Larry Lofland (Julie, sons Benjamin &amp; Isaac), 
of Tennessee and many friends. 
Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be Monday October 19th at 
4:00 PM at Baalmann Mortuary in Atwood. There will be a Celebration of 
Life at Atwood Country Club following the Memorial Service. Family will 
receive friends at the Celebration of Life. Memorials are suggested to:

 </figure>Raymond Curtis Lofland, 57, of Atwood, died October 7th, 2020, at Swedish
 Medical Center, Englewood, CO. He was born November 7th, 1962, in 
Syracuse, KS to Roy &amp; Betty Lofland. 
Ray graduated from Atwood High School Class of 1981. Throughout his high
 school days he was involved in Pep Club, Band, Drum Trio, Boy’s Glee, 
Choir, Consort “Royal Burgundian” Choir, Pep Band, Marching Band, 
Dixieland Band, Stage Band, Musicals and Kansas Lions Band. He loved the
 drums and had an amazing voice. His senior quote, “Yea though I walk 
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, because I
 am still trying to figure out what happened the last four years." 
After High School he attended Truck Driving School in Dodge City, KS. He
 drove for various companies through the years including Penske where he
 later became their IT specialist. He taught at a Truck Driving School 
in Denver for a few years. Ray was a Self-Taught Mechanic and a 
Self-Taught IT Specialist. Ray was an Information Sponge! He could learn
 how to do anything just by reading about it. 
Ray returned to Atwood full time in 2002. Upon his return, he started 
his own IT Service, “Barely Wired”. He quickly became the “Go to Guy” 
for all things Technology. 
In 2008, he set up his own system to do the “Bluing” process on choke 
tubes &amp; contracted with Carlson’s to provide them that service. In 
2011 Carlson’s built a building specifically for the Bluing Process and 
Ray moved the equipment over and continued to do the bluing until 2017. 
From 2008-2012, Ray Contracted, as Barely Wired, with Rawlins County USD 
105, as their IT Specialist. After a 4 year leave he returned to the 
school district, as their IT Specialist in 2017 &amp; was still employed
 there when he passed away. 
Ray was very active in the community. He was a member of Lion’s Club 
International from September 2003 – October 2015. He was Club President 
from July 2005-July 2010 and Zone Chairperson from July 2011-July, 2012.
 He received several awards during his time as a member including: 
Membership Key, Membership Advancement Key, Builder Key, Sr. Builder 
Key, 10 Year Monarch Chevron, Master Key &amp; extension Award 1. Ray 
helped Charter the “Hoxie Hottrodders Lion’s Club” in 2012. He was also 
the spearhead for the “Final Fling” Drag Races that are held the 1st 
weekend in October. Ray was an Atwood Ambassador Member for 10 years. He
 was head of Rod Run Registration for the majority of those years he 
spent as an Ambassador. 
He enjoyed working on, rebuilding and riding Motorcycles. He also loved 
to cook, especially Grilling. He had just recently completed his “Cooker
 Trailer”, equipped with 3 smokers, one of which was for Ribs Only. He 
could make a mean brisket and rack of ribs, just ask the teachers! He 
was an amazing person and a great friend. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; Roy &amp; Betty Lofland. 
He is survived by his brother; Ed Lofland (Joyce) of North Dakota; 
nephews, Heath Lofland, of Atwood, Tysen Lofland, of New Mexico, Cody 
Lofland, of Idaho and Larry Lofland (Julie, sons Benjamin &amp; Isaac), 
of Tennessee and many friends. 
Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be Monday October 19th at 
4:00 PM at Baalmann Mortuary in Atwood. There will be a Celebration of 
Life at Atwood Country Club following the Memorial Service. Family will

Raymond Curtis Lofland

Lucretia J. Walton, 78, of O’Fallon, IL, born March 16, 1942, in Lawton,
 Oklahoma, died Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, 
St. Louis, MO.

Lucretia retired after working 25 years for Fort Hays State 
University, Hays, KS.&nbsp; She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church,
 Shiloh, IL, and loved to bowl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leonard Mize, Sr. 
and Betty June, nee McFall, Mize; and a brother, William Leonard Mize, 
Jr.

She is survived by her son, Larry Jr. (Pattie) Walton of Shiloh, IL; 
her grandchildren, Rachel (Hunter) Smith, Nathan Walton, and Sarah Walton; a great-granddaughter on the way; her former husband, Larry Walton Sr.; a nephew, Len III (Krista) Mize; a niece, Machele (Greg) Dunagan; and her beloved dog, Tiffany.

Lucretia J. Walton

Constance Kay “Connie” (Schatz) Kilian, 73, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Connie was born August 13, 1947 in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of Joseph and Nora (Steinert) Schatz.&nbsp; As an infant, Connie and her family moved to Russell where she grew up and attended school.

Connie was united in marriage to Frank Kilian in Miami, Oklahoma.&nbsp; This union was blessed with a daughter, Michelle.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell.

Connie was a Manager of Dollar General in Hill City, Kansas for many years before becoming the Manager of the down town Dollar General Store in Russell.&nbsp; Later she worked many years at Lana’s Floral.&nbsp; She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She enjoyed watching movies at the theater, reading, watching FOX News, following politics, walking and spending time with her dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

Connie’s surviving family include her daughter, Michelle Searles of Russell, Kansas; sister, Bonnie Schatz of Russell, Kansas; granddaughter, Alyssa Searles of Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her mother Nora, husband Frank, and son-in-law Jeff Searles.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held.&nbsp; A Memorial has been established with the Russell Dream Theater.&nbsp; Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.

Constance Kay 'Connie' (Schatz) Kilian

Daniel Albert, “D.A.” Crist II died on October 12, 2020, at the Gove County Long Term Care Facility, Quinter, KS, following a diagnosis of COVID-19, at the age of 90. He was born on July 20, 1930.

He was the youngest of three children born to Rev. D. (Daniel) Floyd and Nellie Mae (Jamison) Crist in rural Quinter, KS. Siblings were Rev. B. (Burton) Wayne and Eulalia Mae (Crist) Sanger. All preceded him in death.

D.A. attended grade school and high school in Quinter and graduated from McPherson College in 1952. He married Carole Huffman following graduation and together they served two years in Brethren Volunteer Service in Goshen, IN taking care of 20 homeless boys. This was an experience D.A. often talked about. He also enjoyed flying, first a Stearman biplane, then several other single wing planes before receiving his pilot’s license. In 1954 they moved back to Quinter where he joined his father in farming and raising cattle, until his retirement when he devoted more time to his and Dan’s hobby of restoring antique tractors.

He was a lifelong member of the Quinter Church of the Brethren, where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School.

He is survived by his children: Daniel Albert III “Dan” (Janice) of Quinter, KS; Kevin (Mary) of McPherson, KS; grandchildren Rachel (David Griffen) of Lawrence, KS; Mark (Karen) of Parker, CO; Alyese of Auburn, NY; and great-grandson Calvin of Parker, CO.

D.A. Crist

Mary Louise (Johnson) Schultz, age 82, of Grainfield, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020. She was laid to rest in the Grainfield City Cemetery with immediate family on September 29, 2020. Louise was born August 12, 1938, in Denver, CO to Alice (Teeter) and Harry Johnson. She had three siblings: JoAnn, Barbara, and John.

Louise graduated from Shattuck- St. Mary’s High School of Faribault, Minnesota in 1956 and chose to attend Fort Hays State University to pursue nursing. During Louise’s time at Fort Hays, she met Donald Lane Schultz while he was working as a busboy in the dorms.&nbsp;

On June 2, 1959, they were united in marriage at the Christian Church in Oakley. After marriage, Don and Louise moved to Selden, KS. In Selden, they both taught at Selden High School where Louise taught music. While in Selden, the first son; Darren L. was also born. After Selden, Louise and Don moved to Sharon Springs where they worked for an area farmer. Following their time in the Sharon Springs area, Louise and Don moved to a farm northwest of Grainfield. Douglas L. and Daniel L. were later born.&nbsp;

After moving to the Grainfield area, Don began farming while Louise was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. During the year, Don would ask Louise to drive grain cart, tractor, help move equipment and many other things. Louise became active in the Grainfield United Methodist Church where she helped with the choir, youth programs, and was a member of United Methodist Women’s (UMW) organization. Louise cherished her family, friends and her grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed fixing meals, going to school and community events, gardening, and working with her flowers. Louise also enjoyed traveling, as her and Don were able to do so with the Western Cooperative Electric board that Don served on. Louise knew no stranger and enjoyed putting a smile on every person’s face she met.&nbsp;

Survivors of Louise include; three sons, Darren Schultz and Gwen Urban of Grainfield, Doug (Ronna) Schultz of Grainfield, Daniel (Joan) Schultz of Grainfield; five grandchildren Cas (Ashley) Schultz, Ty Schultz, Zoe Schultz, Livia Schultz and Tyra Schultz of Grainfield, one great-grandchild Emmett Schultz; and one sister, Barbara Ward of Fort Collins Colorado.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and her two siblings; John Johnson, JoAnn Rodie; and Grandson Dal Schultz. &nbsp;

A celebration of Louise’s life is being planned and will be held at a later date.&nbsp;

Memorial contributions may be given to Grainfield United Methodist Church.

Ethel Mabel Ziegler,&nbsp;86, of&nbsp;Hays, Kansas, passed away on&nbsp;October 7, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center.&nbsp; Ethel was born in&nbsp;Angelus, KS on&nbsp;December 24,1933, to Everet and Louise (Schwarz) Schroeder.&nbsp;She was a graduate of&nbsp;Grinnell High School.

Ethel&nbsp;was united in marriage to&nbsp;Leo Ziegler in Angelus, KS,&nbsp;on&nbsp;August 10, 1954; they were married for 48 years until his death in 2002.&nbsp; She was a lifelong farmer and devout Catholic residing at the family farm near Collyer, KS.&nbsp; She was an accomplished seamstress during her life, sewing and knitting clothing for her fellow residents at Ascension Living till the very end.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed card games, golf, puzzles and working the family farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was also actively involved in&nbsp;volunteer work.

Ethel&nbsp;is survived by her sons Allen Ziegler and wife Lesly of Littleton, CO, Kevin Ziegler and wife Jennifer of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Dustin Benisch of Lee Summit, MO, Courtney Benisch of Chicago, IL, Katie Kellett of Corpus Christi, TX, Paige Michalik of Colorado Springs.&nbsp; Eric Ziegler of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacob and Genessa Ziegler of Littleton, CO; brothers Ray and Don Schroeder of Angelus, KS; and sister Carol Maurath of Reno, NV.

Ethel was preceded in death by&nbsp;both parents, her husband Leo, daughter Sandra, brothers James and Kenney Schroeder and sisters Doris and Betty.

Funeral service will be held at&nbsp;10:30 am, Saturday, October 17, 2020, at&nbsp;St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer, KS.&nbsp;Fr. Charles Steier will be officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ethel Mabel Ziegler

Longtime Goodland, KS resident, Mary Lou Peter Tracy, 83, passed away on October 9, 2020, at the Topside Manor in Goodland.

She was born on August 20, 1937, to Edwin M. Peter and Jean (Hamlin) 
Peter in Goodland, KS.&nbsp; She graduated from Goodland High School in 1955 
and moved to a trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue a career
 as a lab and radiology technician.

She was first married in February of 1957.&nbsp; To this marriage, there 
were two children born; Terry Lee and Stacey.&nbsp; They all lived in 
Wellington, KS where she worked in her lab and radiology technician 
profession for many years.

In July of 1973, Mary Lou was remarried to Bobby Tracy for 26 years.&nbsp;
 After living in southeastern Kansas, they moved back to her hometown of
 Goodland, KS to be near her daughter Terry and family, and closer to 
her son Stacey and his family who live in Colorado.&nbsp; In April of 1999, 
her husband Bobby lost his life to lung cancer.

Mary Lou was involved in the Moose Lodge for many years.&nbsp; She enjoyed
 playing 4 point pitch, and was on a dart team.&nbsp; Many friends young and 
old remember her from this.&nbsp; She also enjoyed as she called it, Country 
and Western music, along with the oldies from the 50’s music.&nbsp; She 
especially liked to dance to the slow Country Western music.&nbsp; She was 
also very active as a great grandmother, and even helped with daycare of
 the 2 oldest.

In 2010, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and put up a good fight 
to the end.&nbsp; Ultimately, Covid-19 took her to be with her family and 
friends in Heaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents Edwin and Jean Peter, her 
husband Bobby Tracy, a sister Judy Peter Berringer and a brother-in-law 
William Berringer.

She is survived by her children; daughter Terry Lee Twombly (William)
 of Goodland, KS and son Stacey Harding of Highlands Ranch, CO.&nbsp; Five 
grandchildren, Michelle Wear, Sabrina Thompson (Aaron) of Goodland, KS, 
Ashley, Megan and Grant Harding, all of Denver, CO; seven great 
grandchildren, Aaron Twombly, Alyssa Wear, Ashton Erhart and Olivia 
Erhart, all of Goodland, KS, Kaitlin Thompson of Hays, KS, Kameron 
Snyder of Twin Falls, ID and Danielle Snyder of San Diego, CA, as well

Mary Lou (Peter) Tracy

Betty Charlene Hestermann passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, 
Atwood, Kansas on October 11, 2020 at the age of 91. Betty was born 
August 31, 1929, to Henry and Sophie (Holthus) Wicke, on a farm north of
 Ludell, Kansas. She was baptized on September 15, 1929 and confirmed on
 April 18, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church. After graduating from 
Atwood High School, Betty began her banking career, which spanned almost
 40 years. She worked in the bank at Ludell for three years before 
moving to Denver and working in a bank there for four years. After 
moving back to Ludell in 1954 she worked at Farmers State Bank until she
 retired in 1988. 
On November 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Loris “Bud” 
Hestermann, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They would have celebrated their
 65Th wedding anniversary in November. 
Four sons were born to their union, Thomas, Richard, John and James. 
Betty was an active member of Trinity, Immanuel and Redeemer Lutheran 
churches in Ludell and Atwood. She enjoyed singing and participated in 
the choir for over 60 years. Betty also cherished family and friends. 
She participated in a Tuesday night bowling league in Atwood for many 
years. Betty played women’s fast pitch softball in Ludell and liked to 
recount her memories catching for the team. 
Preceding her in death were her parents; son John (1996); infant brother
 Victor; brothers, Clarence, Floyd, Edwin, and John and sisters Lelia 
Focke and Henrietta “Toots” Frick.

Betty Charlene Hestermann

Floyd Thomas McKie Jr., 81, passed away on October 9, 2020, at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas. 

Floyd was born on January 19, 1939, to Floyd McKie, Sr. and Beula Mae (Shinn) McKie at their family farmhouse outside Edmond, Kansas. Floyd graduated from Edmond High School in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Broomfield, on February 15, 1958, at the Edmond Christian Church.  They moved to Norton where Floyd worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 43 years.  He worked on the Road Crew, Bridge Crew, and retired in 2000, as the KDOT District Superintendent.

Over the years Floyd enjoyed playing pool, snooker, golf and cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed travel, taking his family boating, camping, snow &amp; water skiing, and attending his kids' sporting events, including helping coach both of his sons' little league baseball teams. Woodworking was one of Floyd's hobbies. He would tinker in his garage making special creations such as quilt racks, shelves, and even a baby cradle that has been used by his grandkids and great grandkids! Floyd was a member of Norton First Christian Church and also an active member of the Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie #3288. He served as the Treasurer as well as helping organize and work Sunday night Bingo for many years. 

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Maxine Nelson, Ila Jean Schooler, and Thelma Armstrong. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; their children, Sheree Milnes, Randall McKie (Lisa,) Jeffrey McKie (Nanet,) Angela Bott (Joe;) six grandchildren, Adam McKie (Nicole,) Tanner Bott (Molly,) Austin McKie, Morgan Witte (Michael,) Hailee McKie and James McKie; four great-grandchildren, Owen Witte, Eden Witte, Noah McKie, and Olivia Witte, one sister, Nelda Laskey (Chuck) and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle whose fun-loving spirit will live on in each of us!

Donald Hess Damon, 81, passed away October 10, 2020, at Wesley 
Medical Center. He was born on September 16, 1939, at Great Bend to 
Ansel &amp; Margaret (Hess) Damon. He married Kathleen Bittner on March 
7, 1963, at Denver, Colo. She survives.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Donald was a truck driver for 
Orschlen's for 26 years. He was a member of the First Congregational 
Church in Great Bend. He enjoyed classic cars, racing and sports. He 
especially loved to spend time with his family.

Survivors include, his wife, Kathleen Damon of the home; a daughter, 
Karen Loder and husband Bret of Otis; a brother, Kenneth Damon and wife 
Trudy of Great Bend; a sister in law, Kathleen Bittner of Hays; one 
grandson, Brenden Damon and wife Mallory; two great grandchildren, 
Brantley Damon and Myah Damon; and several nieces and nephews. He was 
preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 
14, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m.,

LeRoy E. Dringmann, 90, passed away October 10, 2020, at Chisholm 
Place Assisted Living, Wichita.&nbsp; He was born October 16, 1929, in 
Sutherland, Neb., to Fred and Marie (Frohlich) Dringmann.&nbsp; LeRoy married
 Jean Truex Aug. 6, 1950, in Great Bend.&nbsp; She survives.

LeRoy, a Great Bend resident since 1935 moving from Sutherland, Neb.,
 was an electrical contractor owning and operating Amerine Electric.&nbsp; He
 was a member of First Presbyterian Church, IES (Illuminating 
Engineering Society), honorary life member of KCCI (Kansas Chamber of 
Commerce and Industry), NECA (National Electrical Contractors 
Association), and was influential with the Kansas Oil and Gas Museum.&nbsp; 
Civically, LeRoy was also known for his holiday spirit, volunteering 
many hours decorating Great Bend with Christmas lights. He was the 
second person to receive Great Bend Chamber Citizen of the year award.

Survivors include wife, Jean of the home; two daughters Judi Sharp 
and husband Jim of Derby and Janet Siebert and husband Alan of 
Parkerfield; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.&nbsp; LeRoy was 
preceded in passing by one daughter, Jane Koelsch; and by two sisters, 
Velma Jean Clark and Ruth Basgall.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at First 
Presbyterian Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Kathleen Luke.&nbsp; Interment 
will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.&nbsp; The family requests those in

LeRoy E. Dringmann

Leta (Maxine) Yeager, 90, passed away October 11, 2020 at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born April 5, 1930 in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Albert 
B. and Leta Ross Clawson.&nbsp; A longtime area resident, she was a 
homemaker, loved going metal detecting with her kids and she devoted her
 whole life to her family, husband, children, grandchildren and loved 
them all very much.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, enjoyed crocheting, working 
with flowers in her yard, feeding all animals, including the squirrels 
and birds, reading, walking her dog in the park and was always up for a 
trip.

On October 12, 1948, she married Lyndon “Shorty” Yeager in Larned, KS. He died March 26, 2003.

Survivors include: Daughter, Linda (Larry) Cavanaugh, Machesney Park,
 IL; three sons, Stanley (Vicki) Yeager, Columbia, SC, Denys (Julie) 
Yeager, Gates, TN, Galyn (Stacy) Yeager, Winfield, KS; nine 
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Joe, Ben, 
A.B. Jr., Earl, Virgil and Edward Clawson and two sisters, Marion (Ruth)
 Dick and Caroline Fairchild.

Cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, KS.

 </figure>Leta (Maxine) Yeager, 90, passed away October 11, 2020 at Diversicare of Larned.She was born April 5, 1930 in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Albert 
B. and Leta Ross Clawson.&nbsp; A longtime area resident, she was a 
homemaker, loved going metal detecting with her kids and she devoted her
 whole life to her family, husband, children, grandchildren and loved 
them all very much.She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, enjoyed crocheting, working 
with flowers in her yard, feeding all animals, including the squirrels 
and birds, reading, walking her dog in the park and was always up for a 
trip.On October 12, 1948, she married Lyndon “Shorty” Yeager in Larned, KS. He died March 26, 2003.Survivors include: Daughter, Linda (Larry) Cavanaugh, Machesney Park,
 IL; three sons, Stanley (Vicki) Yeager, Columbia, SC, Denys (Julie) 
Yeager, Gates, TN, Galyn (Stacy) Yeager, Winfield, KS; nine 
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Joe, Ben, 
A.B. Jr., Earl, Virgil and Edward Clawson and two sisters, Marion (Ruth)
 Dick and Caroline Fairchild.Cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, KS.In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Pawnee County

Leta (Maxine) Yeager

John David Fixsen was born January 20, 1958, to Merle and Louise (Tagtmeyer) Fixsen of Goodland, Kansas. He left this world on October 8, 2020, at home, with his wife Wanda by his side, after a 10-month battle with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer.

Growing up John was a smart kid who prided himself on getting good grades but always found ways to be ornery in the process. From getting a whole extra hour of sleep his entire senior year by sneaking into band because he knew his teacher took roll as students LEFT class to writing all of his notes backwards. John also had a love for animals starting at a young age, especially dogs, he was partial to beagles and basset hounds. The love of camping and fishing was instilled in young John as well since his parents spent their summer vacations taking him camping and fishing in many lovely places in the U.S. He was introduced to bowling at an early age by his mother, who also enjoyed the sport. He did some bouts in vocational schools at Garden City JUCO and Goodland NW Kansas Vo-Tech before working at his cousin’s shop, Fixsen TV and Appliance repair shop, also in Goodland.&nbsp;

John had perfected the art of sarcasm, almost to a fault. When he first met his wife, Wanda, he convinced her he had a condition called “striped-belly disease”, (which was later determined to be a striped tank top under the sweater he was wearing). He may have gotten that first date out of pity, but he must have done something right. These jokes and pranks continued all throughout their marriage of 41 years, much to the expense of Wanda’s nerves, but they were always able to laugh at his jokes together, which lead to his coined self-description of being 16 going on 60. John and Wanda were wed on December 2, 1978 and made their first home in Goodland, Kansas. In 1982, when Wanda was pregnant with their first child, the couple moved back to Wanda’s hometown of Sharon Springs to take over her parent’s farm.&nbsp;

John spent his adult life being a husband and father, while running the farm and ranch. He never knew the definition of sitting still, if he got a break from farming you could find him doing odd jobs like helping Floyd’s Refrigeration &amp; A/C install and/or fix furnaces and air conditioning units, or processing grain samples or beans as a Kansas Feed and Grain Inspector. For entertainment, John loved bowling and getting away to do some fly fishing in the mountains of Colorado.&nbsp;As if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, John opened his own Gun and Ammunition shop, Rose Creek Arms in 2013.

John was also an avid reader, had a wonderful singing voice and even had some artistic talents (his children can attest that his Mickey Mouse pancakes tasted better than any other pancakes in the world).&nbsp;

John joins his parents, Merle and Louise, in the glorious afterlife. His memory will be carried forth by his dearest loved ones, including his wife of 41 years, Wanda Fixsen, their three daughters, Sarah Fixsen-Ziegler (Kem Matthews), Lindsay Hartman (Jarrod Hartman) and Ellen Fixsen, six grandchildren, Marissa, Ethan and Sophie Ziegler and Nicholas, Oliver and Bristol Hartman and his sister Delores (Alvin) Depe along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;

John didn’t know a stranger, he was funny, smart and could talk to anyone about anything. We know he touched so many individual’s lives and he will be missed so deeply by more people than anyone could ever count. His family is grateful for all of the love and support during his diagnosis and battle with cancer, especially from the community they have called home, Sharon Springs, Kansas. We have appreciated the strength and grace others have lent to us when our own has faltered. In memory of John we hope you all crack open and enjoy a nice frosty Shiner Bock or other (adult) beverage of your choice.

Memorial services for John will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 10:30 AM MT at the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs with Pastor Phil Know, SAM officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.

John David Fixsen


Terry was born March 15, 1945, in Great Bend, KS. He was the son of 
Elbert Paul and June Nadine (Clark) Minson. Terry graduated from 
Hoisington High School in 1963. He joined the United States Navy and 
served his country from 1963-1969 — fighting for our country in Vietnam.

From Terry’s first marriage were born two sons, Terry Minson II and 
Douglas Minson. While in Kinsley, he married Marilyn (Regnier) Welsch 
June 5, 1975. Marilyn brought three boys to this union — Troy Welsch, 
Mark Welsch and Brian Welsch.

Terry had careers at Wilbert Vault Co, the Dyne-Quik Restaurant, 
insurance sales, and eventually began a career in the U.S. Postal 
System. Working between the towns of Dodge City, Hutchison, Kinsley, and
 Cimarron, he eventually held Postmaster at Larned and Great Bend, 
retiring in 2005. At that time, Terry and Marilyn moved to Table Rock 
Lake in Kimberling City, MO, meeting new lifelong friends and making 
many great memories, including lots of family visiting often.

Terry’s health became a priority and that led them back to Kansas in 
2013, moving to Galva. Terry was adamant that all of his kids work hard 
and often — which led to him buying the Kinsley Ice Company, a radiator 
shop, and the kids mowing many yards. Terry was a member of many clubs 
and organizations including the Kinsley Fire Dept, the VFW, Knights of 
Columbus and was also a past Mayor of Kinsley.&nbsp;

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Paulette Minson 
and Janelle Lefler, brothers Kent, Jim, Paul, and Craig, and a 
stepson Brian Welsch.&nbsp;

Survivors include wife Marilyn of Galva KS, Troy (Amy) Welsch of 
Larned, Mark Welsch of Trousdale, Terry Minson (Tracy) of Galva, and 
Doug Minson of WaKeeney. Surviving siblings include sisters Andrea 
(Duane) Sitton of Independence, KS and Rhonda (Bob) Shockey of Tulsa, 
OK. Brothers--Randy of Dartmouth, MA, Clark of Westport, MA, and Aaron 
(Liz) of Debary, FL. He is also survived by special brothers-in-law 
Kenneth Regnier of Offerle KS, Bud Lefler of Morrilton, AR, and sister- 
in-law Jane Minson of N. Kingstown, RI. Terry is survived by 10 
grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud 
of and always had words of wisdom for.

Viewing and visitation at McKillip Funeral Home 
in Kinsley from 5-7pm Tuesday October 13th and Rosary at 7pm. Memorial 
Service will be held at McKillips on Wedneday October 14th at 10am, with
 interment at WaKeeney Veteran’s Cemetery in WaKeeney, KS. at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Edwards County 
Golf Course in Kinsley where many family memories were created and 
shared, and also to the Bethany Village in Lindsborg, where Terry 
received great care in the last months of his life.

Terrance ‘Terry’ L. Minson Sr.

Eli John Leo Boucher, 99, Olathe, passed away peacefully Thursday, 
October 8, 2020, at Silvercrest Independent Living Community, Lenexa, KS. He was born May 16, 1921, to Edward and Blanche Boucher, in Zurich, Kansas, the 8th child born into a family of 9 children. 
 Eli grew up on the family farm during the 1920’s and 1930’s. He 
shared many memories of family life and the hardships of farming, 
especially during the ‘dust bowl” years. He graduated from Palco
 High School, Palco, KS in 1939. In the fall he moved to Hays, KS to 
attend Fort Hays State University. He graduated from FHSU in 1943 with 
BA degree in Math and Physics. During his college years he met a
 beautiful young nurse named Irene Imelda Linenberger from La Crosse, KS.
 They married November 25, 1942 in St. Michael Catholic Church in 
La Crosse. Wherever they lived over the years, they were active members 
of the Catholic parish in that city. They remained devoted to each other
 until Irene’s passing in 2006. Eli was called to active duty 
during WWII in January 1944. He served in the Army Air Corp until the 
end of the war in 1945. He then began a career in education as a 
classroom teacher in Lincoln, KS. He received a MA in Education 
Administration from the University of Kansas in the spring of 1950. His 
first administrative position was as high school principal in 
Minneapolis, KS. Later he became the Superintendent of Schools in 
Glasco, KS, and finally the district superintendent for USD 395 in 
La Crosse, KS and USD 401 for Chase-Raymond, KS. For many years after 
retiring from education, Eli was the coordinator of the Western KS Tax 
Volunteers. After retiring from his community tax service duties and 
Irene’s retirement from nursing, They moved to Olathe, KS in 2004 to be 
near family. Survivors include three sons, Greg and wife Linda, 
Bogart, GA; Brian and wife Margaret, Alma, KS; and Dana and wife 
Jeanette, Fairway, KS; two daughters Cheryl Wunder and husband Rich, 
Olathe, KS, and Michele Heidrick and husband Max, Beloit, KS; 11&nbsp; grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded 
in death by his wife Irene, parents, Edward and Blanch, brothers Adlore,
 Paul, Hector, and Edmond, and sisters Jeanette, Theresa, Alma, and 
Mary. A visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00PM Monday. October 
12th at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel, where the Prayers of the Rosary 
will be offered at 6:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at

Eli John Leo Boucher

Anna Lee (Thill) Habiger, 97, passed away peacefully October 10, 
2020, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born at Dubuque on 
October 20, 1922, to Frank and Mary (Weber) Thill. Both her parents died
 before she was seven years old, and she was raised by her uncle and 
aunt, Nick J. and Mary Weber. She married Jerome Habiger of Bushton on 
March 30, 1948, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. 
Jerome passed away in 2004.

Anna Lee was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Bushton, the Holy
 Name Altar Society, and the former Mutual Improvement Club of Bushton. 
She loved praying the Rosary, feeding the orioles, going fishing, 
traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family, relatives and
 friends.

Suvivors include daughters, Diane Ingels of Topeka, Jane Habiger of 
Bushton and Mary Beth (Lee) Bonnewell of Andover; sons Norman (Myra) 
Habiger and Wayne (Karen) Habiger all of Bushton; grandchildren Joshua

 before she was seven years old, and she was raised by her uncle and 
aunt, Nick J. and Mary Weber. She married Jerome Habiger of Bushton on 
March 30, 1948, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. 
Jerome passed away in 2004.Anna Lee was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Bushton, the Holy
 Name Altar Society, and the former Mutual Improvement Club of Bushton. 
She loved praying the Rosary, feeding the orioles, going fishing, 
traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family, relatives and
 friends.Suvivors include daughters, Diane Ingels of Topeka, Jane Habiger of 
Bushton and Mary Beth (Lee) Bonnewell of Andover; sons Norman (Myra) 
Habiger and Wayne (Karen) Habiger all of Bushton; grandchildren Joshua

Anna Lee (Thill) Habiger

Helen E. Klein, 84, passed away October 10, 2020, at her home in 
Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born August 25, 1936, in Hoisington, to Joseph and 
Mary (Demel) Courange.&nbsp; Helen married Larry Eugene Klein Aug. 17, 1953, 
in Russell.&nbsp; He died Aug. 10, 2001.

Helen, a life time resident of Barton County, was a homemaker and enjoyed playing BINGO.

Survivors include three sons, Curtis Klein and wife Betty of 
Canadian, Texas, Mike Klein and wife Terri of Great Bend and Robert 
Klein of Great Bend; two daughters, Karen Barrow and husband Ron of 
Great Bend and Tammy Cushenbery and husband Daryl of Fort Worth, Texas; 
one brother, Jim Courange of Great Bend; three sisters, Joann Torrez of 
Hoisington, Theresa Hall of Great Bend and Norma Seyfert of Hoisington; 
19 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Klein and Todd Klein; 
six brothers, Gene Courange, Clarence Courange, Irvin Courange, Victor 
Courange, Joe Courange and Paul Courange; and five sisters, Marge 
Courange, Maryanne Ash, Victoria Hubbard, Irene Green and Virginia

Helen E. Klein

Ethel Mabel Ziegler,&nbsp;86, of&nbsp;Hays, Kansas, passed away on&nbsp;October 7, 
2020, at the Hays Medical Center.&nbsp; Ethel was born in&nbsp;Angelus, KS 
on&nbsp;December 24,1933, to Everet and Louise (Schwarz) Schroeder.&nbsp;She was a 
graduate of&nbsp;Grinnell High School.

Ethel&nbsp;was united in marriage to&nbsp;Leo Ziegler in Angelus, KS,&nbsp;on&nbsp;August
 10, 1954. They were married for 48 years until his death in 2002.&nbsp; She 
was a lifelong farmer and devout Catholic residing at the family farm 
near Collyer, KS.&nbsp; She was an accomplished seamstress during her life, 
sewing and knitting clothing for her fellow residents at Ascension 
Living till the very end.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed card 
games, golf, puzzles and working the family farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was also actively
 involved in&nbsp;volunteer work.

Ethel&nbsp;is survived by her sons Allen Ziegler and wife Lesly of 
Littleton, CO, Kevin Ziegler and wife Jennifer of Colorado Springs, CO; 
grandchildren Dustin Benisch of Lee Summit, MO, Courtney Benisch of 
Chicago, IL, Katie Kellett of Corpus Christi, TX, Paige Michalik of 
Colorado Springs.&nbsp; Eric Ziegler of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacob and 
Genessa Ziegler of Littleton, CO; brothers Ray and Don Schroeder of 
Angelus, KS; and sister Carol Maurath of Reno, NV.

Ethel was preceded in death by&nbsp;both parents, her husband Leo, 
daughter Sandra, brothers James and Kenney Schroeder and sisters Doris 
and Betty.

Funeral service will be held at&nbsp;10:30 am, Saturday, Oct. 17,

Ethel M. Ziegler

Alice Mildred (Foster) Kolsky, 92, a resident of Sunporch Nursing 
Home of Dodge City, shortly before 9:00 am October 7, 2020 slipped 
peacefully into the Loving Arms of her Savior. 

She was born November 2, 1927, in 
Dresden KS, the youngest of seven children of Elfred and Bessie 
(Boardman) Foster. Alice was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. 
She attended school in Dresden KS until the school closed, graduating 
from high school at nearby Jennings KS in 1946 in August of the same 
year she was married. She lived and worked in Oberlin KS for several 
years. Alice moved to Dodge City with her children in 1965. There she 
started to work at High Plains Journal and remained there for the next 
25 years until her retirement.

She loved to dance the “Jitter Bug” of which she was quite 
proficient. She enjoyed years of bowling and horseshoes and has many 
trophies to show for it! She was always keeping busy, participated in 
many activities at the Senior Center such as line dancing and wood 
carving.

Survivors are daughter Paula Herd of St. George Utah, son Charles and
 (Jean) Kolsky of Dodge City KS, son Robert Kolsky of Dodge City KS, 
four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great-great 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and three sisters and a great granddaughter.

Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 1:00 
pm at the Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Kansas where she will be jointed 
with her past loved ones. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 pm to 5:00
 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

Donald P. “Don” Helwig, 79, Hays, died Monday, October 5, 2020, at his home.

He was born August 26, 1941, in Webster,
 South Dakota, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Block) Helwig. He was a 
1959 graduate of Waubay High School in Waubay, South Dakota. Don worked 
in the oil field, on the railroad, and in mining in South Dakota. He 
loved fishing, sports, music, being outside, and was an amazing 
entertainer. Don was known as “Donny Cash," for his ability to sing 
Johnny Cash songs. If anyone needed anything, Don was always there for 
them.&nbsp; He had an ability to make people laugh and lived a very full 
life.

Survivors include two daughters: Ronda 
Releford of Surprise, AZ and Roxanna Fullerton of Elkhart, KS, three 
sisters: Gladys Grubbs of Scottsdale, AZ, Esther Loterbauer of South 
Dakota, and his twin sister Diana Gaona of Russell, six grandchildren, 
six great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, 
Jason Cambell, his parents, one brother: Clarence Helwig, and three 
sisters: Evelyn Hamman, Violet Maxwell, and Deloris Wieger.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm 
on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays, with Father
 Damian Richards officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family,
