Nicolas 'Cole' Wenzl

It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Nicolas “Cole” Wenzl on Friday, December 11, 2020, in Ellis County, KS at the age of 19 years young.

Cole was born on October 18, 2001, in Topeka, KS.  At age 3, he moved to Phillipsburg where he graduated from high school this past May.  He then attended Kansas State University and was majoring in Computer Science.  Cole’s passions included drawing, playing the tuba in the high school band and computer coding. 

Cole is survived by his loving parents Robert L. Wenzl and wife Tina of Manhattan, KS and Stacie A. Ricker and husband Rus of Phillipsburg, KS along with his sisters Cara and Ella Wenzl of Phillipsburg; step brothers Gunnison Ricker of Hays and Greyson Tanner of Wichita; step sisters, August Ricker of Plainville and Shelby Tanner of Kearney, NE; and grandmother Betty Wenzl of Seneca, KS, grandparents Karen and Gene Matia of Littleton, CO, step grandmother Sharon Ricker of Beulah, CO and grandfather Duane Nokes of Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Huck Boyd Community Center, Phillipsburg. Social distancing and mask are encouraged.  The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Friends may sign the book from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, P. O. Box 563, Phillipsburg, KS  67661.  The casket will remain closed.

Memorial contributions may be made out to the Cole Wenzl Scholarship Fund.
