John Douglas McIntosh, age 87, of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. He was born on April 16, 1933, to Lawrence and Ada (Harmon) McIntosh in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;

On May 1, 1953, Johnny was united in marriage to Lavonne Owens in WaKeeney, days before his deployment to basic training for the Korean War. Johnny was very proud of his family, especially his three children. He loved his farm and often said he didn’t need to go or be anywhere else to be happy. He was quoted as saying “the best site I ever saw on a trip/vacation was the Voda exit on my return.” His passion was farming, and he helped feed the world for nearly 60 years, raising winter wheat and black angus cattle in Trego County. He also had an interest in firearms and acquired an extensive collection over the years that he loved to show to visitors.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lavonne; sons Terry McIntosh of Parker, CO, and Kevin (Wanda) McIntosh of Elizabeth, CO; daughter Janice McIntosh of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Tanner Buller, Erin Buller, Ben McIntosh, Kate McIntosh, Emily Fields, Whitney Gossard, Kristen Walters, Morgan McIntosh, and Sydney McIntosh; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Warren McIntosh, Larry McIntosh, and Allen McIntosh; and sisters Carol Crawford, Sheryl Blair, and Marilyn Ziegler.

Preceding Johnny in death are both parents; and sisters Marjorie Hancock, Mildred Clevett, and an infant sister.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, WaKeeney. It is recommended that masks be worn by those in attendance and observe social distancing guidelines.

Phillipsburg resident Evelyn M. DeBey passed away Dec. 6, 2020, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center at the age of 71.&nbsp; She was born Nov. 10, 1949, in Eugene, OR, the daughter of Herbert &amp; Geraldine (Jones) Knapp.

Jeanette Kay Sommer, 72, of Savannah, MO, died Thursday, December 3, 
2020.&nbsp; Jeanette was born August 6, 1948, in St. Joseph, to George 
Lawrence and Leone Alberta (Oppenlander) Sommer.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Oregon High School, Oregon, MO, and graduated 
with a Bachelor's of Education from the College of Emporia.&nbsp; She taught 
Elementary and High School Music in Downs&nbsp; KS, Bellville KS, Munson KS, 
and Plainville KS.&nbsp;

She married Calvin Hair on January 1, 1997, and he survives of the 
home.&nbsp; Also surviving are step-children Matthew William Hair and 
Christopher David Hair; sister-in-law, Alda Sommer; nephew, John D. 
Sommer (Velvet); nieces, Ellen Sommer; Kristin Gamache (Tim) 
great-niece, Krista Cravens (Kevin) ; great-nephews, Alec Gamache, 
Andrew Bottorff;&nbsp; and great-great-niece, Khloe Cravens.

Jeanette had a love for music and &nbsp;played the organ and piano &nbsp;for 
many different churches in the towns where she lived.&nbsp; She &nbsp;has a love 
for animals, especially horses.&nbsp; She enjoyed horseback riding.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Irwin Sommer.

Carol Ann (Carrico) Moritz passed away peacefully at her home in Salina, Kansas on Thursday, December 3, 2020, surrounded by her family.


Carol was born December 22, 1936, in Beloit the daughter of Melvin and
 Cecilia (Knaup) Carrico, the seventh of eight children. Because she was
 born so close to Christmas, her family named her Carol. At age five, 
Carol suffered a childhood illness that resulted in a significant 
hearing loss in both ears, eventually resulting in near total deafness. 
She wore a hearing aid throughout her life and learned to read lips to 
communicate. Despite her hearing loss, Carol loved music and learned to 
play the piano as a child. In her later years, she took great joy in in 
playing for her family-especially Christmas carols. Carol graduated from
 St. John's High School in Beloit, and attended Marymount College in 
Salina. During that time, she met and later married Louis Moritz of 
Tipton. They married November 10, 1956 at St. John's Church in Beloit, 
and made their home in Tipton. Between 1957 and 1963, Louie and Carol 
had six children.


In 1967, Louis was diagnosed with Huntington's disease, a 
hereditary neurological disorder. When Louis was no longer able to work 
in 1973, Carol went to work as a secretary at Tipton High School. She 
made many lifelong friends during this time and enjoyed the energy of 
the academic environment, but she couldn't support her family. When 
Louis required hospitalization in 1975, Carol moved her family to 
Salina, where she found work as an editor at School Specialty Supply's 
headquarters. Her children will always remember her fierce determination
 to provide them with a loving and secure environment during this 
difficult time.


Although Carol endured many hardships in her life, including 
losing her husband, twin daughters and three grandchildren to 
Huntington's Disease, she didn't allow those difficulties to define the 
contours of her life. Her children, grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren will remember her strong will-a will offset by her 
wonderful sense of humor, quick laugh and warm hugs. But most of all, 
they will remember her deep and abiding love for her family. Her most 
treasured times were those she shared with family.


Carol was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her twin 
daughters, Jean West and Joan Beard, and three grandchildren, Michael 
West, Nichola Beard and Adam Beard. She was also preceded by three 
sisters-Albertine Konzem, Cecilia Ludwig and Virginia Lichtenberger-and 
two brothers, Joseph Carrico, and (infant) James Carrico. She is 
survived by her children Kathy Moritz, Salina; Nancy Moritz, Lawrence; 
Larry (Cecilia) Moritz, Salina; and John (Renee) Moritz, Hays; 
grandchildren, Ben Gasper, Jeff Gasper, Stefanie Adam, Chris West, 
Jennifer Boss, Kathleen Wade, Sarah Landis, Anna Davis, Samuel Moritz, 
Cara Moritz, Amber Rogers, Daniel Moritz and Steven Moritz; 17 
great-grandchildren and one on the way-Baby Wade in June, 2021. She is 
also survived by her dear sisters, Maxine Wicks, Bennet, Neb. and Janet 
(Dan) Sparks, Salina.

 private graveside service and will have a Memorial Mass celebrating

Larry Kinderknecht, 51, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at KU Medical Hospital in Kansas City, KS. Larry was born on August 8, 1969, in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Robert “Bob” and Virginia (Billinger) Kinderknecht. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1988, and attended Colby Community College. He worked at QuinStar Implement in Quinter, KS for many years before joining the team at Western Plains Energy in Campus, KS. He resided on a small farm outside of Quinter, KS. Larry always had a way to make any one who crossed his path feel like his friend. He loved his animals, including calves, goats, pigs and geese on his farm, along with plenty of dogs and cats; special sidekicks, Sid, the 3-legged cat and Clyde, his dog. Of course, his favorite hobbies were watching NASCAR and NFL, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and would usually talk his way to winning or saying that he won! Survivors include: his mother, Virginia, Park, KS; sister, Lisa and husband Larry Cox, Ellis, KS; brother, Donnie Kinderknecht, Seattle, WA; niece, Emily and husband Jordan Mattheyer; nephew, Ethan and wife Britny Cox, both of Ellis, KS; and great-nephew, Mason Mattheyer and great niece, Mallory Cox and many other relatives and friends. Larry Kinderknecht

Russell D. Allen, age 84, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 
the Delaware Highlands Assisted Living in Kansas City, Kansas. He was 
born on November 10, 1936 in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Robert Paul 
and Cordelia Farr Allen. A lifetime resident of Scott County, Kansas, he
 was a Construction Contractor and also worked for KN Energy until 
retirement.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas 
and was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. Russell loved being surrounded 
by his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On November 13, 1960 he married Margie L. Beeson in Scott City, 
Kansas. She passed away on October 8, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Survivors Include her One Son - Troy &amp; Christy Allen of Kansas 
City, Kansas, One Sister - Judy Erskin of Dighton, Kansas, One Sister In
 Law - Dee Allen of Weslaco, Texas, One Grandson - Jeff &amp; Marie

She was born April 27, 1933 in Jetmore, the daughter of Carl Lee and 
Mildred May Cole Bamberger.&nbsp; A lifetime area resident, she was a 
farmer/Stockman.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist 
Women, where she was the funeral dinner chairman for 50 years, American 
Cancer Society and Friendly Neighbors, all of Jetmore.

On December 9, 1951, she married Earl Ray Schaffer in Jetmore.&nbsp; He died July 28, 2016.

Survivors include: three daughters, Cindy (Darrell) Schneider and 
Peggy (Jess) Pitts, both of Jetmore, Sandra (Dale) Hines, Spearville; 
brother, Norman Bamberger, Jetmore; sister, Karla Dansel, Jetmore;

Leland Francis Paul “Lee” Schaffer, 69, Liebenthal, Kansas, passed 
away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at The University Of Kansas Hospital, 
Kansas City, Kansas, from health related issues.

Lee was born February 24, 1951, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Michael 
C. and Juanita A. (Urban) Schaffer.&nbsp; After attending La Crosse High 
School, La Crosse, Kansas, he moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and then
 Dallas, Texas, and worked in construction. He met and wed his kids' 
mother, DeNiece Fallwell, and had Johnathan Schaffer and Amy Schaffer.

In 1975, Lee returned to Kansas, and after working at the La Crosse 
Furniture Factory in La Crosse, Kansas, began his career as a journeyman
 lineman for Midwest Energy moving to Hanston, Kansas, in 1980.&nbsp; In 
1992, Lee met Jan Campbell, the art teacher in Jetmore, Kansas. Jan and 
Lee married on horseback in Westmoreland, Kansas, Jan's hometown, on 
October 26th, 1993.&nbsp; Lee left Midwest Energy in 1995 to start Schaffer 
Trucking as owner/operator for several years. His next adventure and 
true love was taking over the Schaffer family farm, enjoying many 
successful years.

After retiring in 2017, Lee spent his time supporting the farm and passing on the tradition to Gregory Schaffer, his nephew.

Survivors include:&nbsp; his wife, Jan Schaffer; one son, John Schaffer; 
one daughter, Amy Schaffer-Wilson (Wade); three grandchildren, Madeline 
Schaffer, Jackson Schaffer, and Levi Schaffer, one brother, Harvey 
Schaffer (Laurie); and one sister, Donna Herrman (James); and many 
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Roy Michael Schaffer.

Church visitation will be Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 9:00 A.M.
 to 9:50 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.

in Great Bend. He was born September 4, 1938, in Ellis the son of Walt 
and Grace Crist. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Norma (Fuhr). 
John was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

John was a lifetime resident of Kansas. He was a truck driver for 
many years after working in the oilfields. He enjoyed fishing, and 
traveling especially to Branson, Mo. John loved being with his family 
and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Clara Jean (Pruitt), his 
parents, brother Jack Carr, sister Sandy Newkirk and two grandsons.

Other survivors include his five children; Tammy (Billy) Lindsay of 
North Carolina, Candi (Dion) Vasquez of Hoisington, Joni (Eugene) Carr 
of Russell, Ray (Carrie) Larson of Great Bend and Jeffrey (Sandi) Carr 
of Colorado. He has four sisters, Jan Flint of Great Bend, Gloria 
(Scott) Calloway of Pratt, Tonya Appel of Larned and Kay Gilkey of 
Hutchinson; one brother Eddie (Rayetta) Crist of Great Bend; fourteen 
grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Graveside 
services will 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 9, 2020 at St. Paul’s 
Cemetery in Holyrood with pastor Debby Rains presiding.

Medical Center, Ellsworth.&nbsp; He was born May 19, 1929, in Bushton, to 
Anton and Lena (Feist) Oberle.&nbsp; Victor married Mary Rose Wondra April 
14, 1953, in Odin.&nbsp; She survives.

Victor, a long-time resident of northern Barton County, owned Oberle 
Sand and Gravel Co., which he operated from 1977 until his retirement in
 1991.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 
Claflin, and American Legion Argonne Post 180, Great Bend.&nbsp; He served 
his country, during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Army 216th Chemical
 Division, from 1950 to 1952.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing pitch, solitaire, and 
checkers and was an avid bike rider.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose of the home; one son, Ray 
Oberle and wife Sandi of Claflin; two daughters, Patricia Schmidt and 
husband David of Claflin and Christine Robl and husband Quentin of 
Salina; 11 grandchildren, Tami Tully, Eric Schmidt, Travis Schmidt, 
Emily Perterson, Nicole Ball, Rebecca Brown, Kaylyn Price, Jacob Oberle,

Elmarie Nelson, lifelong resident of Goodland, Kansas, passed away on December 4, 2020.&nbsp;

Elmarie Lasley was born on January 19, 1933, to Wilmer and Francis Lasley in Goodland, Kansas.&nbsp; She was raised by her grandmother.&nbsp; She attended schools in Goodland and graduated from Sherman County Community High School.&nbsp; On November 11, 1951, Elmarie married Carl Nelson.&nbsp; They had 2 daughters, Carla and Aline.

Elmarie helped her husband with farming, and worked at Montgomery Wards, Sears, Great Western Sugar Factory, Sherman County Extension Office, and Northwest Kansas Medical Center. &nbsp;

The Nelsons supported the Sherman county 4-H programs when their daughters and nephews were members.&nbsp; They continued their support for over 50 years.

Elmarie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting.&nbsp; She loved music and sang in the church choir and Sweet Adeline’s Barbershop Chorus.&nbsp; She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and EHU.&nbsp; Fortunately, Elmarie and her husband were able to travel abroad and throughout the United States during their senior years.

Mary Ann Pool, 93, Otis, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, at her home.

Mary Ann was born October 6, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter 
of Charles B. and Maryann Melinda “Millie” (Armstrong) Jenkins.&nbsp; She was
 a resident of Rush County, Kansas, for 65+ years, moving from 
Phillipsburg, Kansas.&nbsp; A 1945 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, 
Phillipsburg, Kansas, she worked for Case Implement, Ochs Inc., and the 
Otis State Bank, all of Otis, Kansas, before her retirement.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist 
Women, Otis Community Library, Otis City Council, Lions Club, all of 
Otis, Kansas.&nbsp; Mary Ann was also a Girl Scout leader, Den Mother for the
 Cub Scouts, and active in numerous community services.

Mary Ann enjoyed socializing and playing cards with friends.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed being in her back yard, “Her Happy Place”, and took great pride 
in her family and community.&nbsp; She also loved watching her KU Jayhawks 
basketball team.

On June 8, 1952, she married Vayne E. Pool at Phillipsburg, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death April 25, 1967.

Survivors include:&nbsp; one son, Jim Charles Pool (Shelley), Omaha, 
Nebraska; two daughters, Janece L. Pool, Sellersburg, Indiana, and 
Jolene K. Welch (Mike), Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren, 
Jennifer Renner (Rich), Wichita Falls, Texas, Jason Newhall (Renee), 
Little Elm, Texas, Jamie Wilson (Chip), Austin, Texas, Weston Pool 
(Jamie), Omaha, Nebraska, and Aaron Pool, Omaha, Nebraska; and six great
 grandchildren, Addison and Grant Renner, Riley and Kendall Newhall, and
 Kaylee and Mia Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Eddie 
Jenkins, Boyd Jenkins, Paul Jenkins, and Robert Jenkins; and one sister,
 Alice McBroom.

The family is hosting a come and go celebration of Mary Ann’s life 
Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at her home in 
Otis, Kansas.

A private family inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Kansas.

The family is requesting all Celebration of Life attendees wear masks.

Betty Ann Bremenkamp, age 71, passed away at the Kearney Regional 
Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska on Thursday, December 3, 2020.&nbsp; She 
was born on January 1, 1949 in Scott City, Kansas the daughter of Doug 
&amp; Willma Wells Baker.&nbsp; A resident of Scott City, Kansas since1996 
moving from Colby, Kansas, she was an Accountant, Florist, Scale Clerk 
and Homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On August 10, 1968 she married Raymond Bremenkamp Jr. in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away on March 23, 1999 in Colby, Kansas.

Survivors Include her One Son - Jerry and Michelle Bremenkamp of 
Liberal, Kansas, One Daughter - Anita and Clenton Rose of Scott City, 
Kansas, One Granddaughter - Chelsie Rose of Scott City, Kansas, One

On February 26, 1950, she married Duane E. Williams in Garden City,

John Francis Yanda, 67, passed away December 5, 2020, at Select 
Specialty Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.&nbsp; He was born January 29, 1953, in 
Quinter, to Theodore and Lugarda (Ziegler) Yanda.&nbsp; John married Elaine 
Marie Wondra June 3, 1972, in Odin.&nbsp; Elaine survives.&nbsp;

A long-time resident of Hoisington, John most recently worked at 
Walmart, retiring in 2015, previously working at Town and Country 
Supermarket and Suburban Laundry.&nbsp; He was a past member of the 
Hoisington City Council, member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic 
Church and was a Third and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of 
Columbus, Council 1521, serving as past financial secretary and past and
 current Grand Knight.&nbsp; John enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles, 
traveling, especially cruising; and above all spending time with his 
family and supporting every grandchild’s event.&nbsp; His volunteerism was 
displayed through his donation of time to the Red Cross Blood Drives and
 Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of the home; two daughters, 
Jennifer Michaelis and husband Marty of Hoisington and Melissa Davis and
 husband Mike of Hoisington; six grandchildren, Owen Michaelis, Evan 
Michaelis, Cameron Yanda, Aaron Yanda, Daegan Davis and Danielle Davis; 
one brother, Joseph Yanda and wife Jeannie of Ellis; and one sister, 
Leatte Bandy and husband Bruce of Colby.&nbsp; John was preceded in passing

John Francis Yanda

Doralyn Ann (Gasper) Dubbert, 95, 
Cawker City, Kansas, died December 4, 2020, while under the care of the 
staff at the Hays Med-The University of Kansas Health Center, Hays, KS. 
Doralyn was born November 25, 1925, in Tipton, Kansas, the 12th child of
 Frank and Mary Gasper.&nbsp;

Doralyn received her education at the 
Holy Corner Catholic School, Tipton, KS. Upon entry, it was necessary 
for her to learn English since only German was spoken at home. She was a
 very bright and articulate individual, with an amazing memory unto her 
death. As a young woman, she worked for several family members after her
 graduation, honing her cooking and homemaking skills. Doralyn met her 
lifelong mate, Gerald C. Dubbert, in Tipton, KS. After two years of 
dating, they married on June 17, 1947. Together she and Gerald undertook
 a farming, cattle, and hog operation along Oak Creek in Mitchell 
Country, KS, and years later, in 1967, they moved to her current 
residence in rural Downs, KS, because of their displacement due to the 
construction of Waconda Lake Reservoir. Gerald and Doralyn celebrated 52
 years of marriage together prior to Gerald’s passing in May 2000.

Doralyn’s focus was always her beloved 
family. She was a devoted wife and mother. As a homemaker/farm wife, she
 was an excellent cook and seamstress. While she enjoyed baking and 
gardening, her loves were dancing, sewing, flower gardening, and 
embroidery work. She never had an idol hand. Travel became a highlight 
later in life with Gerald as they journeyed to various Navy reunions 
across the country. Bringing her family together for gatherings was 
always her greatest priority!

Doralyn was a member of the St. Mary’s 
Catholic Church, Downs, KS. Her faith and belief in God was the founding
 premise for how she lived life. She was involved in a variety of 
volunteer work activities, including assistance to the St. Mary’s Altar 
Society, the Cancer Society, and the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit, KS. She 
was often called upon to bake her famous pies for local funerals and 
civic meetings.

Doralyn was truly a beautiful woman 
inside and out. Her kind and caring heart was evident to all that she 
met. Friends often commented on her sweet and gentle spirit; and 
likewise, complimented her on her meticulous appearance and sense of 
style and grace. She was truly a great listener while quietly 
maintaining a fun sense of humor!

Those most appreciative of her life of 
strength and sacrifice were her children, grandchildren and great 
grandchildren. She is survived by: Steve Dubbert, Cawker City, Rodney 
Dubbert (Renee), Johnstown, CO, Debby Loy (Wally), Barnard, Darla&nbsp; J. 
Fuertges (Don-deceased), Hays, Carolyn McDaneld (Kenny), Wellington; 
seven grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Gerald; her parents; seven brothers; and four sisters; a great 
grandchild, Colten Christopher Dubbert, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be 
announced on a later date, but tentative arrangements are scheduled for 
May 29, 2021, at 10 am at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Tipton, KS, 
along with the inurnment at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Vita Evelyn (Chinn) Stegman, age 91, of Hays, Kansas passed away on December 3, 2020, at her home.&nbsp; She was born on the family farm on March 10, 1929, to Maple and Cecil (Bobbit) Chinn. She was one of 12 born and raised on the Chinn family farm in Coats, Kansas.&nbsp; She married Tony Stegman from Pratt Kansas on January 6, 1948.&nbsp; Together, they raised seven children. Vita treasured her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; She loved to work in the yard and going to garage sales.&nbsp; She was faithful in reading the bible and trusting in God.&nbsp; She believed that there was good in everyone. She is survived by her sisters Jean and Lila; her sons Joe Stegman (Bert); John Stegman (partner Margie); Anthony Stegman (Juanita); Steve Stegman; Mark Stegman (Sandy), and a daughter Judy Stegman; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Fay Laverne (Gregory) Pejsha, age 87, died on December 1, 2020, at her 
home in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Fay was born on January 24, 1933, in 
Ellsworth, Kansas to the late Wilmer A. and Olga (Schwartzel) Gregory.

She was a 1950 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Kansas.
 Fay married Laudie C. Pejsha in Ellsworth, Kansas on October 29, 1955. 
They moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1958 where Laudie joined the Air
 Force and was stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base in 
Jacksonville, Arkansas. Fay worked in the retail grocery business as a 
meat wrapper for 59 years. She also worked at Chambers Drug Store.
 Fay loved being outdoors working in her vegetable garden and tending to her flowers.
 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
husband, Laudie (P.J.) Pejsha on June 10, 1996; sisters, Judy Gregory of
 Ellsworth, Dorothy Ptacek of Wilson, Ona Dupes of Gypsum, and Ester 
Snowball of Salina; and brother, Larry Gregory of Ellsworth. 
 Survivors include brother, George (Janice) Gregory of Clay Center; 
20 nieces and nephews, Dan Besthorn, Alma (Mattas) Deutsch, Anita 
(Dupes) Preston, Greg Dupes, Judy (Dupes) Kobetich, Ona (Dupes) Hough,

George F. Dinkel, age 94, died Thursday, December 3, 2020, at his home south of Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born February 17, 1926, on the family farm south of&nbsp; Victoria, Kansas to Frank M. and Rosa (Hertel) Dinkel.&nbsp; He married Mary Ann (Hertel) on May 11, 1964 in Victoria, Kansas. &nbsp;

He was a farmer, a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Treasurer for the Victoria Township Board, Victoria V.F.W. Post No. 1751, and a Past Commander.&nbsp; George served on the St. Fidelis Parish Council, was active in the Victoria Boys Scouts, and received Ellis County Conservation Awards.&nbsp; He grew up south of Victoria, attended school in Victoria, was an expert welder, and was very devoted to his woodworking.&nbsp; Many of his projects were children’s furniture, cars, trucks, and other toys constructed out of oak.&nbsp; Every year he donated several woodworking projects for the parish auction.&nbsp; George was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served from 1950 to 1952 and was stationed in Japan.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Dinkel, of the home; one son, Mark Dinkel and wife, Cindy, Hays, KS; one daughter, Cheryl Downes and husband, Charles, Council Grove, KS; one brother, Father Harvey Dinkel O.F.M. Cap., Victoria, KS; two sisters,&nbsp; Mary Younker, Antonino, KS; Viola Richmeier, Grinnell, KS; six grandchildren, Megan Schroeder (Josh), Michael Dinkel, Ashleigh Dooley (Steven), Rhiannon Downes and fiancé, Bryan Chestnut, Makenzie Downes, Lakoddah Downes; five great grandchildren, Angelina, Riley, Elaina, Scarlet Schroeder; and Paysleigh Dooley.

Clifton “Cliff” Paul Wiggins, 71, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, November 30, 2020, at his home in Russell, Kansas.

Cliff was born on May 21, 1949, in Winfield, Kansas, the son of Paul Floyd and Evelyn Irene (Swaney) Wiggins.&nbsp; He grew up in Pratt, Kansas, and graduated from Pratt High School.&nbsp; After high school he received an associate’s degree from Pratt Community College and also attended Ft. Hays State University.&nbsp; He moved to Russell, Kansas in 1974.&nbsp; He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Jane Younger on September 18, 1976, in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; From this union Cliff and Jane were blessed with 3 children Stacie, Ryan and Chase. He worked for 44 years as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician with Plains Pipeline before retiring on December 30, 2017.&nbsp; He enjoyed boating, RVing, gambling, car shows, hunting and watching sports.&nbsp; Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving family include his wife Jane of the home, daughter Stacie Wasinger of Victoria, Kansas; sons Ryan Wiggins and wife Nicole and Chase Wiggins all of Russell; sister Sherrie Heiman of Ft. Collins, Colorado and 5 grandchildren Aidyn, Gannon and Dillyn Wiggins, Sadie and Rhett Wasinger.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Clifton 'Cliff' Paul Wiggins

Eleanor H. Ramsey, 90, of Jenera, Ohio, and formerly of Great Bend, died on Friday, November 13, 2020.

She was born on June 20, 1930, in Danville, Illinois to Walter and 
Anne (Bauer) Siewert. She married her husband Wendell in Watsonville, 
California on August 6, 1961, and they enjoyed 35 years of marriage 
together until his death on April 4, 1997.

Eleanor is survived by her sons Steve (Mary) Ramsey of Jenera, Ohio, 
and Craig Ramsey of Rock Island, Illinois. She is survived as well by 
six grandchildren including Craig’s children Dustin, Jason and Jamie; 
and Steve’s sons Jacob (Amber), Aaron (Alyssa) and David (Gina). Eleanor
 is survived as well by two great-grandchildren, Harper and Silas.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Patricia.

A graduate of Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, Eleanor was a
 music teacher and homemaker and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran 
Church, Great Bend. She is best remembered as a violinist, who played 
many years in the Barton County Community College orchestra, for local 
high school musicals, and for Sunday morning worship services; and she 
loved every minute of it.&nbsp; Eleanor was also active in the Etudian Study 
Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, at 
Bryant Funeral Home.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at the Great Bend Cemetery. 
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Great Bend.

She was a CNA at St. John’s Nursing Home in Victoria, and at the Hadley Hospital in Hays for many years.&nbsp; She was a volunteer for the Senior Companion Program in Hays for many years and was recognized as Senior Companion of the Year.&nbsp; Anita grew up in Catharine, and attended the Catharine Grade School.&nbsp; Her faith was her foundation of her life.&nbsp; She lived in Victoria until moving to Hays in 1975, then moved to Great Bend in 2000, and then to the Ellsworth Village in 2015.&nbsp; Anita was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Great Bend, the Victoria Daughters of Isabella, the Victoria V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a Past President. &nbsp;

Survivors include one son, Dr. Patrick Stang and wife, Cathy, Great Bend, KS; two daughters, Marilyn Pflughoeft and husband, Roger, Wichita, KS; Ruth Brunts and husband, Richard, Alamogordo, NM; one daughter-in-law, Ruann Stang, Ellsworth, KS; three grandchildren, Dylan Stang (Kristel); Elizabeth Stang and Alex Richards; John Stang; four great grandchildren, Asher, Avery and Abram Stang; and Viviann Richards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Thom Stang; three brothers,&nbsp; Alois “Al” Schmidt, James Schmidt, and Harold Schmidt; six sisters,&nbsp; Leopoldina “Tina” Mathes, Helen Brodecker, Ernestine Anderson, Frieda Boies, Lydia Brull, Dora Lee Robertston. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp;

A Daughters of Isabella rosary and a V.F.W. Auxiliary memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, at the church.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Dechant Foundation for Priests/Seminarians of Dodge City Diocese or the Victoria Daughters of Isabella.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
