Logan resident Janice K. Lohrmeyer passed away November 26, 2020, at
 the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE at the age of 77.&nbsp; She was 
born Aug. 15, 1943, in Phillips County, KS, the daughter of Gus &amp; 
Mary (Vogel) Forssberg.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Gale of the home in Logan; 2 sons, Mike
 &amp; David of Hays; her daughter, Gayla Binder of Hays; her brother, 
Gene Forssberg of Logan; 14 grandchildren &amp; 19 great grandchildren.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. Dec. 2 at
 10:30 a.m. in the St. John’s Catholic Church, Logan, with Father George
 Chalbhagam officiating.&nbsp; The service will be streamed live on the 
Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the 
Pleasant View Cemetery.

A public Rosary Service will be held Tues. Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Logan Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan Manor or the St. John’s Ladies Guild &amp; Choir.

Visitation will be from noon to 9:00 Monday &amp; Tuesday at the 
Logan Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00

Mary A. Juenemann

Mitchell “Mitch” James Eichman passed away on November 26, 2020, at his 
home in Plainville, KS, at the age of 44. He was born on July 31, 1976 
in Hays, KS to Jim and Cindy (Hrabe) Eichman. 
 Growing up in Plainville, Mitch graduated from Plainville High 
School with the Class of 1995. He attended the Diesel Technician Program
 at Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, KS. Mitch went on to
 work for Farm Implement, Tom’s Machine for 10 years, and Gore Oil 
Company the last 13 ½ years. 
 During his high school years, Mitch was strongly involved in the 
Plainville FFA Chapter and was a chapter officer all four years. He also
 held FFA District Officer positions his junior and senior years, and 
was class President his senior year. Never one to forget a joke, he was 
funny and often was told he could be a professional comedian. He loved 
visiting with friends and family and was a great storyteller. He was a 
collector and keeper of many things; never found to throw away a hunting
 magazine.
 Mitch was a good-hearted man who worked hard, enjoyed life and 
cherished his family and friends. Although he was taken from us far too 
soon, we know that those we enjoyed and loved, we can never lose, for 
all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. We can smile because he 
lived and left us with cherished memories that will live forever in our 
hearts. He will be remembered in love.
 Mitch is survived by his parents, Jim and Cindy of Plainville; 
brother, Mace Eichman of Plainville; and sister, Manda Weien and husband
 Ron of Plainville. 
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 
2020, at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. A 
Visitation will be held on Monday 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home
 in Plainville, and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM 
at the church.

Mitchell 'Mitch' James Eichman

Leonard Leroy Erway, 78, passed away November 26, 2020 at Leisure Homestead of St. John.

He was born November 20, 1942 in Wichita, the son of Marvin and Marie Wheatley Erway.

A Lifetime area resident, he was a powerplant operator for Larned State Hospital and was of the Nazarene faith.

On June 13, 1962 he married Barbara Greathouse in Larned; she preceded him in death on March 2, 2014.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Sumner, Lafayette, 
Indiana, Melissa and husband Randy Jacobs, Great Bend; a half-brother, 
George Welsch, Larned; four grandchildren, Kegan Sumner, Konner Sumner, 
Zackery Jacobs, Gabby Jacobs; three great grandchildren, Ayden Williams,
 Preston Sumner and Karoline Towery.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Erway and a half-brother, Max Welsch.

A private memorial graveside service will be held at the Larned 
Cemetery, Larned with Pastor John Thomas presiding.&nbsp; Visitation will be 
from 1:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary,

Walter W. Herrman, 86, La Crosse, Kansas, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.

Walter was born August 16, 1934, in Rush County, Kansas, the son of 
Frank and Florina (Sanders) Herrman.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of Rush
 County, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked for Flame Engineering Inc. from 1974 until 
his retirement in 1990.

On April 4, 1956, he married Virginia A. Penka at St. Joseph’s 
Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death May 1, 
2013.

Survivors include:&nbsp; his daughter, Carol Weis (John), Schoenchen, Kansas; and one grandson, Michael Scott Weis, Hays, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, 
Balthasar “Balser/Bill” Herrman, Lavin Herrman, and Walter Herrman (age 
2); and three sisters, Thelma Jacobs, Silverina Kreutzer, and Viola 
Kreutzer.

Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present 
time, this is a private, immediate family only, graveside service and 
interment, with no visitation.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in 
Galatia, Kansas. She graduated from Otis High School and also graduated 
after four years from Fort Hays State University. She married James DeWald 
on May 9, 1966. She worked and lived on a farm all her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, James DeWald; and two step 
daughters; Andrea Janzen from Buhler, Kansas, and Stephanie Hermes from 
West Des Moines, Iowa; six step grandchildren and four great 
grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Vernetta Rogers from 
Hutchinson, Kansas, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and
 many cousins.

Concordia KS to C.A. and Eloise (Fraser) Pfeifer.

grew up on the family farm near Aurora KS and attended school in 
Miltonvale KS.&nbsp; After an auto accident in 1979, he was unable to 
complete his high school education, but the school presented him with a 
diploma the same year his younger brother graduated.&nbsp; Patrick was 
blessed to have many wonderful caregivers and healthcare professionals 
who assisted him over the years in managing with his disabilities.

Patrick 
was preceded in death by his father.&nbsp; He is survived by his mother, 
Eloise of Minneapolis, his sisters Debbie (John) Herrman of Osborne, 
Angie (Norman) Vytlacil of Belleville, Yvonne (Thomas) Jefferson of Dry 
Fork, VA, Janet (Robert) Pahls of Salina and his brothers, Greg Pfeifer,
 Salina, Doug (Marlene) Pfeifer, Wichita and Charles Pfeifer,

Rev. Garner J. Berg, 92, Hays, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at HaysMed.

He was born July 15, 1928, the son of 
Joseph R. and Helen F. (Garner) Berg.&nbsp; On July 27, 1946, he was united in
 marriage to Harriet F. Rossow in McPherson, and they celebrated 62 
years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 25, 
2008.&nbsp; He later married Nancy (Wheatcroft) Stanka.&nbsp; Garner was a United 
Methodist minister, serving for 39 years in United Methodist churches in
 Kansas and Texas, retiring in 1995.&nbsp; In Salina, he served at the Church
 of the Cross.&nbsp; He enjoyed traveling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of 
Hays, two sons: Barry Berg of Indiana and Jon Berg of Kansas, and a 
daughter: Brenda-Berg Morrow of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on
 Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, 
Hays.&nbsp; Burial will be at 2:30 pm in McPherson City Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation
 will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 on Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel 
Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Wednesday at the church.

Reverend Garner Berg

Rebecca Avila, 80, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Wichita County health center in Leoti, Kansas. Rebecca was born on October 30, 1940 in Fronton, Texas , the daughter of Pantaleon and Genoveva Guerra. Rebecca had been a resident of Leoti since moving here from Texas in 1980. Rebecca was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas.

In 1958, Rebecca married Santiago Garcia in Leoti, Kansas. Santiago passed away in 1978. In 1987, she married Gustavo Orlando Avila in Leoti, Kansas.  

She was preceded in death by parents, her first husband, Santiago Garcia, her second husband Gustavo Avila, her four brothers; Ramiro Guerra, Romeo Guerra,Ruben Guerra, Pantaleon Jr. Guerra, and Jose Luis Guerra, and three of her sisters; Aurora Guerra, Amelia Salas, and Matilda Medina.  

Survivors include six children including Santiago &amp; Karen Garcia, Jr. of Leoti, Kansas, Samuel &amp; Hortensia Garcia of Hays, Kansas, Jose Ruben Garcia of LaJunta, Colorado, Rose Marie Garcia of Garden City, Kansas, Genoveva Garcia of Garden City, Kansas, and Juliana and Tomas Santos of Leoti, Kansas, three sisters; Maria L. Mankin of Ranger, Texas, Martha Vestal of Leoti, Kansas, and Yolanda Montoya of Mission Texas, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rebecca was born on October 30, 1940 in Fronton, Texas , the daughter of Pantaleon and Genoveva Guerra. Rebecca had been a resident of Leoti since moving here from Texas in 1980. Rebecca was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas.In 1958, Rebecca married Santiago Garcia in Leoti, Kansas. Santiago passed away in 1978. In 1987, she married Gustavo Orlando Avila in Leoti, Kansas. She was preceded in death by parents, her first husband, Santiago Garcia, her second husband Gustavo Avila, her four brothers; Ramiro Guerra, Romeo Guerra,Ruben Guerra, Pantaleon Jr. Guerra, and Jose Luis Guerra, and three of her sisters; Aurora Guerra, Amelia Salas, and Matilda Medina. Survivors include six children including Santiago &amp; Karen Garcia, Jr. of Leoti, Kansas, Samuel &amp; Hortensia Garcia of Hays, Kansas, Jose Ruben Garcia of LaJunta, Colorado, Rose Marie Garcia of Garden City, Kansas, Genoveva Garcia of Garden City, Kansas, and Juliana and Tomas Santos of Leoti, Kansas, three sisters; Maria L. Mankin of Ranger, Texas, Martha Vestal of Leoti, Kansas, and Yolanda Montoya of Mission Texas, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Robert Dean Dix passed away on November 26, 2020, at the Solomon Valley 
Manor in Stockton, KS, at the age of 91. He was born on August 27, 1929,&nbsp; in Rooks County, KS to Frank and Bessie (Fitch) Dix. Robert married 
Maxine Dibble on January 17, 1951, in Kensington, KS. They were blessed 
with four sons: Darwin, Mark, Johnny and Jeff.
 Robert attended country schools and graduated from Woodston High 
School with the Class of 1948. After he and Maxine married, they lived 
in the rural Woodston area where Robert farmed and ranched his entire 
life. He served on the local co-op and rural water district boards, and 
was a 60 year member of Masonic Blue Lodge. He was passionate about 
farming and enjoyed visiting with family and friends; Robert never knew a
 stranger.
 As a steward of the land and livestock, Robert took seriously the 
charge of God, to take care of the earth and all that is in it. With 
strong faith and abiding hope, he worked hard, loved greatly, and now 
rests from his labors. The legacy of his love, laughter, and joy will 
live in our hearts and memories forever.
 Left to survive Robert are his sons, Darwin (Lila) Dix of Stockton, 
Mark (Gina) Dix of Woodston, Johnny (Kati) Dix of Weatherford, TX, and

Robert D. Dix

Sandra M. Karst, 67, of Dorrance, passed away on Wednesday, November 25,
 2020 in Wichita, KS. She was born on May 7, 1953 in Russell, KS to 
Ernest and Bernadine (Bode) Pasek. Sandy graduated from Dorrance High 
School in 1971. She was united in marriage to Ronald Karst on August 19,
 1972 in Dorrance. They were blessed with two children: James and Shane.
 
 Sandy was a para and custodian at Wilson High School USD 112 until 
her retirement in 2018. She was a very hardworking woman and enjoyed 
flowers and craft projects, entering many of them in the Russell County 
Fair. She also enjoyed playing cards - especially poker, but what she 
enjoyed most was her family. She loved spending time with her kids and 
grandkids and attending all their activities.
 Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ron of the home; son, 
James Karst and wife Jamie of Halstead, KS; daughter, Shane Vondracek 
and husband Joe of Sedgwick, KS; brothers, Larry, Kenneth “Pete” and 
Mitchell Pasek, all of Dorrance; sisters, Anita Bassler of Dorrance, 
Joan Weinhold of Wilson, Sherry Sloan of Dorrance, and Connie Urban of 
Lucas; and six grandchildren, Ella Vondracek, Braiden Vondracek, Landon

Sandra M. Karst

Wilma “Billie” Lee (Luder) McAlexander, aged 93, died peacefully on 
November 26, 2020, in LaGrange, Georgia. Billie was born moments after 
her twin sister, Beth, on July 21, 1927 in Waldo, Kansas to parents 
Clemmer D. (Knapp) and Jacob “Pop” K. Luder. She married Harold “Herk” 
McAlexander on August 18, 1945 and travelled with him to Army posts 
around the U.S. and in Japan. They moved to Hoisington in early 1950. 
Two sons came along, K.C. in March 1950 and Dan in October 1953.

For almost 60 years, she was Hoisington’s all-round organist and 
piano teacher. She played for thousands of services—church, weddings, 
funerals, and high school commencements. She taught hundreds of kids 
piano, bringing music alive with her upbeat spirit. She taught a young 
adult Sunday School class called “Pairs and Spares.” She loved movies 
and dogs and was an inveterate walker.&nbsp;

In 2006, Herk died, and in 2013 she moved into assisted living in LaGrange, Georgia.

She is survived by; her two sons, K.C. (Suzanne) of Huntingtown, 
Maryland and Dan (Celeste Myall) of LaGrange, Georgia; her sister, Donna
 Beth Whitman of Paradise, Kansas; her five grandchildren, Caitrin 
McAlexander Huntzinger (John) of Ashton, Maryland, Noel Tarlton 
McAlexander (Stacey) of Austin, Texas, Ian Tarlton McAlexander (Joanna) 
of Elkton, Virginia, Anne Myall McAlexander (Carson Cerney) of Lincoln, 
Nebraska, and Alice Myall McAlexander (Warren Flood) of Detroit, 
Michigan; her five great grandchildren, Cormac Olson McAlexander, John 
Edward Huntzinger IV, Mary Blythe Huntzinger, Malcolm Lewis 
McAlexander-Flood, and Lorelei Anne McAlexander-Flood; and many 
wonderful nieces, nephews, and their children. Billie was preceded in 
death by her parents, her husband, her infant brother Noel, and her 
younger brother, James Kirk Luder.

Owing to the pandemic, a private burial for immediate family will be 
held graveside at Hoisington Cemetery. A memorial service will be 
planned at a later date to celebrate her life.

Dalton.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Hays High School and worked as a 
professional nanny for 20 years before becoming a massage therapist.&nbsp; 
Lynnly was passionate about animals, in particular her beloved golden 
retriever, Loxy, and was a proud and loving aunt to her nieces, nephew, 
and great nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was a political and American history 
buff and loved museums and reading.

Survivors include her father of Hays, a
 sister: Danna (Randy) Kaiser of Hays, a brother: Thomas Dalton of New 
Orleans, LA, three nieces: Jordyn (Jake) Sanders of Birmingham, AL, 
Kallyn (Daniel) Givan of Katy TX, and Reagan Kaiser of Vestavia Hills, 
AL, a nephew: Dallas Kaiser of Alexandria, VA, and nine great nieces and
 nephews: Sophia Jeannine, Emmett, Bridget, Genevieve, Gianna, and

Buehler Oct. 17, 1986, in Great Bend.&nbsp;

Brian, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, had owned and operated 
Pro-Green Total Lawn Care, Inc., starting the business in 1995.&nbsp; Brian 
was a member of Grace Community Church, Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, 
and enjoyed anything motor related; demolition derbies, mud runs and any
 type of car racing.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed time with his family and 
friends at the sand dunes.

Survivors include wife; Julie Mitchell, of the home; one son, Dillon 
Mitchell and wife Ashley, of Great Bend; one grandchild expected in 
June; father, Stan Mitchell of Garden City; and two brothers, Dr. Darin 
Mitchell and wife Lisa of Houston and Dr. Alan Mitchell and wife Sherri 
of Houston.&nbsp; He was preceded in passing by his mother, Sharon.

Brian Thomas Mitchell

Robert "Bob" L. Zubeck, a first-generation American who farmed in the 
Deerfield area for many years, died Nov. 22, 2020, at High Plains 
Retirement Village. He was 94. 
Born June 5, 1926, in Deerfield, to Joseph and Josephine Zubeck, who 
immigrated to the United States separately in the early 1900s and 
married in the eastern U.S., he attended Deerfield High School. He 
married Doris Rector on June 15, 1947, in Deerfield. She died on Nov. 9,
 2016. 
He grew sugar beets, wheat, milo, corn and soybeans and raised chickens,
 cattle, pigs, and sheep on farms south and north of Deerfield. 
He lived his entire life in Kearny County, Kansas, except for one year 
when his family moved to Ohio during the Great Depression. Besides 
farming with his brothers, most notably Tom Zubeck, he ran Deerfield 
Recreation for several years and worked at Central Power and other 
implement dealers in Garden City. 
He loved to play bridge, pitch and cribbage, work crossword puzzles and 
read three newspapers and many magazines regularly. He relished telling 
stories of his youth when he sold eggs from his flock of chickens for 10
 cents a dozen, and of his many experiences being part of the Deerfield

the Deerfield Fire Department and helped with the Deerfield Methodist 
Brotherhood groundhog supper for decades, refining the art of cooking 
sausage. He also kept the scorebook for Deerfield High School boys 
basketball games for many years and ran the chain for high school 
football games. 
Always good with his hands, he enjoyed carpentry and built book shelves 
for his home as well as for his children’s homes, and crafted a lighted 
“Merry Christmas” sign that blazed from the Zubeck roof during the 
holidays. He also was instrumental in his kids’ participation in 4-H 
animal projects. 
He moved to High Plains Retirement Village in 2013 where he made friends
 with all the staff members. His trademark was handing out chocolate 
candies to the staff and residents while tooling around the hallways on 
his scooter. His signature activity was growing tomatoes, peppers and 
zinnias in the planter boxes there. 
He survived COVID-19 but suffered a broken hip as he was about to return to his regular room on Oct. 25. 
He was the last surviving member of the American Zubeck family and was 
preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Tom, Jim, Frank, 
John and Joe, and George, two infant sisters, Bessie and Mary, and an 
infant brother buried in the eastern U.S.; sisters- and brothers-in-law 
Juanita and Don Peterson, and Barbara and Les Cline; nieces Norma 
Sanchez and Kathleen Smith, and son-in-law Tony Cunningham. 
He is survived by his son, Jan (Gloria) Zubeck of El Paso, Texas; 
daughters, Pam Cunningham, and Ann (Dan) Brink of Colorado Springs; step
 sister Fern Moore of Wichita; nieces, Ginger Sonderegger of Leoti,

 </figure>Robert "Bob" L. Zubeck, a first-generation American who farmed in the 
Deerfield area for many years, died Nov. 22, 2020, at High Plains 
Retirement Village. He was 94. 
Born June 5, 1926, in Deerfield, to Joseph and Josephine Zubeck, who 
immigrated to the United States separately in the early 1900s and 
married in the eastern U.S., he attended Deerfield High School. He 
married Doris Rector on June 15, 1947, in Deerfield. She died on Nov. 9,
 2016. 
He grew sugar beets, wheat, milo, corn and soybeans and raised chickens,
 cattle, pigs, and sheep on farms south and north of Deerfield. 
He lived his entire life in Kearny County, Kansas, except for one year 
when his family moved to Ohio during the Great Depression. Besides 
farming with his brothers, most notably Tom Zubeck, he ran Deerfield 
Recreation for several years and worked at Central Power and other 
implement dealers in Garden City. 
He loved to play bridge, pitch and cribbage, work crossword puzzles and 
read three newspapers and many magazines regularly. He relished telling 
stories of his youth when he sold eggs from his flock of chickens for 10
 cents a dozen, and of his many experiences being part of the Deerfield

Iona “Betty” B. Lauber, 87, passed away November 24, 2020 at Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born April 10, 1933 in Dodge City, the daughter of Francis and Virginia Thorton Norris.

Moving from Hollister, Missouri, she was an area resident since 2011.
 She worked in the kitchen at Medicalodge of Kinsley and enjoyed 
fishing, reading, and doing dot-to-dot puzzles.

On May 20, 1948 she married Clinton Harold Lauber; he preceded her in death on January 24, 1997.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pammie (Jan) Shank, Larned, Tammie 
(Jimmy) McClaren, Kinsley; a son, David (Martha) Lauber, Cheney; eight 
grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton; a 
daughter, Sandra Davis, and two sons, Robert Lauber and Terry Lauber.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

She was born February 14, 1930, at Vincent, Kansas to&nbsp; Ludwig “Louis” and Lidwina (Mermis) Leiker.&nbsp; She married George Kuhn on June 14, 1956, at Vincent, Kansas and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1990.&nbsp; She married Richard Wallace on September 6, 2003, at Wichita, Kansas and he preceded her in death on August 31, 2012.

She was a hair dresser for 65 years having a beauty shop in her home for 53 years, at one point with 75 standing weekly appointments.&nbsp; After her career as a hair dresser she started working at Dillon’s grocery part time in Wichita.&nbsp; She worked as a cashier and in the floral department.&nbsp; She retired in October of 2020 from Dillon’s.

She was a member of The Church of the Magdalen until later when they joined St. Anthony parish both of Wichita.&nbsp; A member of the Arthritis Water Exercise Club and served as the President then Treasurer and worked many nights raising money at the Bingo Casino.&nbsp; It was while working bingo that she met Richard Wallace 7 years after George passed away.&nbsp; Anyone that knew Lydia would know her extreme love for her dogs and her flowers.&nbsp; Friends and family and even people just walking by would comment about her beautiful flower gardens around her home.&nbsp; She loved the KC Royals and Wichita State Shockers.&nbsp; She loved attending WSU basketball games and watching her grandkids play sports.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl New and husband, Jerry; her son, Bryan Kuhn and wife, Shelley; six grandchildren: Dustin Kuhn, Katie New, Marshall New, Dylan Kuhn, Kelsey Kuhn and Adrian New; two brothers, Verlin Leiker and Katie; Joe Leiker and wife, Erlene; one sister-in-law, Sheila Leiker-Page; and many nieces and nephews.

Former Logan, KS resident “Sonny” Lawrence F. Ruff of Holyoke, CO passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at the Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke at the age of 84.

He was born March 5, 1936, in Logan, KS the son of Herman “Richard” and Jenny M. (Gottbredt) Ruff.&nbsp; He was an US Army Veteran, a Firefighter and a Blacksmith.

Sonny was united in marriage to Ruby I. Shockley on November 2, 1956, at Logan, KS.&nbsp; She preceded him in death in 2013.

Survivors include a son Richard Ruff of Logan; a daughter Sheila Gift of Holyoke, CO; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

2020, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, KS. He was

 He was a farmer and a US Army World War II veteran.

Allen L. Salo, 57, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at his home
 in Easton, Maine.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on January 27, 1963 in Minot, North Dakota, the
 son of Raymond and Sonja (Kangas) (Salo) Aalto.&nbsp;
 Allen was a very kind, loving, and sweet man who will be greatly 
missed by all who knew him. He did not have a mean bone in his body and 
tried to always look at things in a positive light. The twinkle in his 
eyes that appeared when he was excited about something was and will be 
difficult to miss. Allen grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan 
where he developed a great love for nature and animals. Allen earned a 
Bachelor’s degree at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, a 
Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and a PhD in 
psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He began his 
teaching career at Fort Hays State University in Hayes, Kansas, and then
 for over 21 years at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Allen 
greatly enjoyed teaching his students and took tremendous pleasure in 
seeing them succeed.&nbsp;
 Allen is survived by his wife, Christina Salo and two step-sons 
Nathan and Justin Quint of Easton; his mother, Sonja (Salo) Aalto and 
his step-father Howard Alto of Rock, MI; his brother Mark Salo and his 
wife Laurie of Bozeman, MT; his two nieces Jordan Salo and Whitney 
Jelinek; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all over 
the country.&nbsp;

 </figure>Allen L. Salo, 57, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at his home
 in Easton, Maine.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on January 27, 1963 in Minot, North Dakota, the
 son of Raymond and Sonja (Kangas) (Salo) Aalto.&nbsp;
 Allen was a very kind, loving, and sweet man who will be greatly 
missed by all who knew him. He did not have a mean bone in his body and 
tried to always look at things in a positive light. The twinkle in his 
eyes that appeared when he was excited about something was and will be 
difficult to miss. Allen grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan 
where he developed a great love for nature and animals. Allen earned a 
Bachelor’s degree at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, a 
Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and a PhD in 
psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He began his 
teaching career at Fort Hays State University in Hayes, Kansas, and then
 for over 21 years at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Allen 
greatly enjoyed teaching his students and took tremendous pleasure in 
seeing them succeed.&nbsp;
 Allen is survived by his wife, Christina Salo and two step-sons 
Nathan and Justin Quint of Easton; his mother, Sonja (Salo) Aalto and 
his step-father Howard Alto of Rock, MI; his brother Mark Salo and his 
wife Laurie of Bozeman, MT; his two nieces Jordan Salo and Whitney 
Jelinek; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all over 
the country.&nbsp;
