Phillis Rose Brown

Phillis Rose Brown, age 98, formerly of Cambridge, Neb., passed away at the Holdrege Memorial Homes on January 4, 2021.  She was a twin, born at home near Norman, Nebraska on January 19, 1922, to Christian and Agnes (Larsen) Sorensen.  Phillis attended country school and later graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940. 

On February 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Joseph Robert “Bob” Brown.  The couple made their home southeast of Cambridge.  Phillis was a dedicated farm wife, raising 3 children and working beside Bob.  He preceded her in death on May 11, 2005.   

Phillis was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Alter Society.  She enjoyed oil painting, making many wedding cakes throughout the valley and drop of the hat snacks/cakes for her kids at school.  She was the gopher for parts and other needs of the farm. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: Christian and Agnes; husband: Bob; brother: Arnold (Romaine) Sorensen Hamel; sister: Vera (Clarence) Hansen; brother-in-law: Willard Williams. 

Phillis is survived by her daughter: Jeanie husband Kevin Allen of Aurora, NE; 2 sons: Joe (Janet Morin) of Hays, KS; Jerry and wife Nancy of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; twin sister: Pauline Williams of Coal Hill, AR. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 10:00 AM till 7:00 PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.  Rosary will be recited prior to Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM, with Father Ken Wehr officiating.  Interment will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery of Cambridge.
