Iona Katherine (Brin) Knipp, 85, died January 3, 2021, in Hill City, Kansas. Iona was born November 2, 1935, in Damar, Kansas, to Oliver and Mary (Morin) Brin. She grew up surrounded by her 10 siblings and attended school in Damar.

During her senior year, she met Wilbert Knipp. They soon married May 31, 1954. This union was blessed with seven children: five girls and two boys.

After the sudden passing of Wilbert in 1967, Iona met and married Dale Meier in July of 1969. Together they had one daughter.

Throughout the years, she worked at the Elks Lodge and provided home health care. However, her family was her livelihood.

Iona thoroughly enjoyed writing poems, coloring, playing cards, watching game shows, and tending to her flowers and house plants. She was an avid baseball fan whether the games involved her family or any team on television.

She never turned down an opportunity to spend as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. Every summer Iona would have her grandkids spend their vacation with her. They enjoyed those times with Grandma, swimming, riding bikes, walking to the dime store, and many other activities. Iona so loved taking many trips to see her children!

Iona was preceded in death by her parents: Oliver and Mary Brin; her husbands: Wilbert Knipp and Dale Meier; a grandson, Allen Michael Knipp; brothers: Clarence, Levi, Frank and Omer; sisters: Barbara, Rita, Patricia and Marida.

Survivors include her sons: Eddie Knipp, Hill City, and Wayne Knipp, Wichita; daughters: Vivian Messer, Santa Rosa, California; Jeanie Stakes, Arlington, Texas; Charlotte (Mark) Pfeifer, Hays, Deanna (Mark) Zeman, Wakeeney, Laurie Knipp, Hill City, Marcia (Gerald) Pfeifer, Hays; sisters: Annette (Richard) Benoit, Damar, Sister Diane Brin, Concordia; 20 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

On Sunday, January 3, 2021, Iona was reunited eternally with her beloved Wilbert. She left behind an abundance of amazing memories of a strong beautiful woman that family and friends alike will cherish dearly for years to come.
