Longtime Goodland, KS, resident Pamela M. Cullen, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at her home in Goodland.

She was born on May 26, 1934, in Columbia County, Oregon, the daughter of Fred J. and Gladys M (Lamb) Larsen.&nbsp; She attended school through the 8th grade.&nbsp;

On May 1, 1977, she married Maurice M. Cullen in Elko County, Nevada.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and loved to garden and work in her yard which won her yard of the month.&nbsp; She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, three half-sisters and one half-brother.

She is survived by her three children Kurt Childress and Mark Childress of Goodland, KS and David Childress of Florida.&nbsp; She is also survived by four step children, one brother Charles Larsen of Scappoose, Oregon, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM MT with a Parish Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 PM at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM MT at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland with Father Norbert Dlabal officiating.&nbsp; Private entombment will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2:30 PM MT at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Pamela May (Larsen) Cullen

Littleton, Colorado, resident Gary D. Isabell passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, NE at the age of 64.

Gary was born July 12, 1956 in Denver, CO the son of Roy and Florence (Sardini) Isabell.&nbsp; Gary graduated from Kennedy Senior High School in Denver, Colorado in 1974. &nbsp;He started his railroad career shortly after.&nbsp;

Gary married the love of his life, Deanna Lynn Ingram, on June 19, 1976, in Long Island, KS. He spent his life devoted&nbsp;to his wife. They spent an amazing 44 years together.

Gary had a love of fishing and hunting and spent many years going to&nbsp;the same locations with the same people instilling the love of hunting&nbsp;into his son and others as well. He would look forward to his annual hunting&nbsp;trip each year where he did all the grocery shopping and planned the meals.&nbsp;

Gary also took his family on many camping trips every year to many&nbsp;different locations across the United States. He planned the vacations around each&nbsp;family members interests and wishes. Vacations were special to Gary because he got to&nbsp;spend time with his family and experience many new things. He loved to find interesting and unique food items and bring them to his father in law to try.&nbsp;

He spent many days fishing with both of his children, his wife and eventually his grandchildren. After 42 years of service, Gary retired as an engineer in August of 2016.&nbsp; He spent most of his retirement summers in Kansas with his family where&nbsp;he loved the lake and the land.&nbsp;

Gary's grandchildren had a special place in his heart; from picking up his grandchildren from school in the "fast black car," placing his granddaughter’s picture in his work&nbsp;locker and telling everyone who it was and building her a garden bed; and to buying his grandson a small tractor to chase him&nbsp;in the yard while he mowed.&nbsp;

Gary loved his son in law as if he was his own son. He loved to sit and talk with his son in law about everything and nothing.&nbsp;


Gary had an enormous heart and was extremely generous. He would do anything&nbsp;for anyone who was in need. He spent this summer helping mow his father in laws yard and even the neighbor’s yard too. &nbsp;He was often known to visit lemonade stands of&nbsp;children in his neighborhood and give them $20 and not take the lemonade.

Gary had the habit of making a huge impact on the people around him. He would&nbsp;talk to everyone around him whether it was at the campground, work, or even at the store. He loved to sit and make conversation with anyone who happened to be&nbsp;around. Gary had a way of making that person feel important.

Gary is survived by his wife, Deanna and son Chris, both of Littleton, CO and daughter Teri Lingane and husband Justin of Denver, CO; two grandchildren Cody and Shelby; and a sister Kathy May of Rock Springs, WY.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in the Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, KS.

Gary D. Isabell

Marvin Lee Wright, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2020, at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on August 19, 1943, in Logan County, Kansas, the son of William Clifford and Margaret Idella Russell Wright. A lifetime resident of Scott County, Kansas, Marvin was a diesel mechanic at Long’s 96 Repair, feed yard maintenance worker at Fairleigh feed yard, and HRC Feed Yard. 

Marvin was a member of Turning Point Nazarene Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On November 5, 1966, Marvin married Vicki Cheryl Finkenbinder at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Scott City, Kansas, sons Terry &amp; Melissa Wright of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Jeff and Arnita Wright of Topeka, Kansas, one daughter, Kim and Don Dinkel of Ellis, Kansas, three sisters; Della Morgan of Healy, Kansas, Sue West of Scott City, Kansas, and Carolyn Hundertmark of Scott City, Kansas, and eight brothers; Dewey, Dan, Wilbur, Marion, Roy, Gary and Harold all of Scott City, Kansas and Galen Wright of Sublette, Kansas, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by His parents, Clifford and Idella Wright, four brothers; Harlan, Cleve, Milton, and Elvin; One sister; Velda Spencer.

Marvin Lee Wright

Flossie George, 79, died on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton.  She was born on September 11, 1941 at Eminence, 
Missouri the daughter of Ivan Lee &amp; Flossie (Hall) Phillips.  She 
married Jerry H. George on April 4, 1964 at Eminence, Missouri.


Flossie attended schools in Eminence and moved to St Louis to work in a 
factory.  After her marriage she moved to the family farm near 
Ellington, Missouri where she raised her family and later worked at the 
Paramount Cap Factory and a local diner.  In 1988 they moved to Salt 
Lake City, Utah for 5 years where she worked at the Flying J Truck Stop.
  They moved to Kearney, Nebraska for 23 years where she worked at the 
Buckle Store and moved to Gove 4 years ago.  She was a member of the 
First Baptist Church of Kearney, Nebraska and enjoyed cooking, 
crocheting, Elvis Presley music and attending her Grandchildren and 
Great-Grandchildren’s activities.


She is survived by her husband Jerry George, 3 Sons- Jeffrey W. (Elaine)
 George of Eureka, Missouri, John D. (Tricia) George of Ellington,

Elta Ileen (Detjen) Rall passed away September 13, 2020 at the age of 
87. She was born August 8, 1933 in Sheridan County Kansas to Albert and 
Ella (Hesterberg) Detjen. She married Elmer Rall April 9, 1961 at the 
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hoxie, Kansas. To this union three sons were 
born, Doug, David and Dennis.


Elta worked at many businesses in Hoxie including the Hoxie Grade 
School. She babysat for numerous children and also became an 
accomplished seamstress, patching jeans, making clothes for her children
 and sewing many quilts for her family members. Gardening was also a 
well-loved past time for her.


Elta is survived by sons Doug (Lisa), David (Sandy) and Dennis all 
of Hoxie; grandsons Clayton (Megan) of Tucson, Arizona and Taylor (Alex)
 of Hoxie; and two great granddaughters, Brandon of Tucson, Arizona and 
Crimsyn of Hoxie; sister Agnes Lewis of Colby and a host of nieces and 
nephews.


She was preceded in Death by her husband, Elmer Rall; parents, 
Albert and Ella; sister, Arleta Detjen; and brother-in-law, Larry Lewis.


Elta loved to be around her family especially her grandchildren and will be missed by all.

Elta (Hesterberg) Rall

Barbara Lynn Dyatt was born September 5, 1938, and died peacefully on July 31, 2020 after a long illness.

Known as “Lynn”, she was a treasured sister, aunt, cousin, colleague,
 friend, and Irish music enthusiast. Lynn was born and raised on a wheat
 farm just outside of Goodland, Kansas. The daughter of Hugh M. Dyatt 
and Gladys “Tot” Ward Dyatt, she loved nothing better than working 
side-by-side with her dad in those golden wheat fields and playing with a
 succession of dogs that were inevitably by her side.

She attended grade school and high school in Goodland and received 
her B.A. and M.A. from Fort Hays State University. Following graduation,
 Lynn and her sister Donna began a commitment to teaching elementary 
children in Salina, Kansas. They then moved to Colorado Springs where 
each pursued other careers in business.&nbsp; They were each other’s best 
friends and loyal companions until Donna’s death. Even after her 
retirement Lynn was deeply involved in adult education and numerous 
civic activities in Colorado Springs.

For many years Lynn was an enthusiastic member of the Crystal Park 
community where she relished the quiet, the views, and the wildlife of 
her home at the top of the mountain. In the last few years of her life, 
Lynn lived in the Kissing Camels Community in Colorado Springs and 
became an active friend and neighbor with a quick wit and zest for 
anything fun. Lynn was an accomplished photographer whose photographs 
leave a lasting legacy of her love for the world around her and her 
family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing her tin whistle which
 she mastered very late in life and which led her to Ireland several

 who were especially loving to Lynn during the last years. Lynn’s family
 is particularly grateful to the Reed family and Lynn’s many friends who

 </figure>Barbara Lynn Dyatt was born September 5, 1938, and died peacefully on July 31, 2020 after a long illness.Known as “Lynn”, she was a treasured sister, aunt, cousin, colleague,
 friend, and Irish music enthusiast. Lynn was born and raised on a wheat
 farm just outside of Goodland, Kansas. The daughter of Hugh M. Dyatt 
and Gladys “Tot” Ward Dyatt, she loved nothing better than working 
side-by-side with her dad in those golden wheat fields and playing with a
 succession of dogs that were inevitably by her side.She attended grade school and high school in Goodland and received 
her B.A. and M.A. from Fort Hays State University. Following graduation,
 Lynn and her sister Donna began a commitment to teaching elementary 
children in Salina, Kansas. They then moved to Colorado Springs where 
each pursued other careers in business.&nbsp; They were each other’s best 
friends and loyal companions until Donna’s death. Even after her 
retirement Lynn was deeply involved in adult education and numerous 
civic activities in Colorado Springs.For many years Lynn was an enthusiastic member of the Crystal Park 
community where she relished the quiet, the views, and the wildlife of 
her home at the top of the mountain. In the last few years of her life, 
Lynn lived in the Kissing Camels Community in Colorado Springs and 
became an active friend and neighbor with a quick wit and zest for 
anything fun. Lynn was an accomplished photographer whose photographs 
leave a lasting legacy of her love for the world around her and her 
family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing her tin whistle which
 she mastered very late in life and which led her to Ireland several 
times and to participate with several Irish music groups and

Joyce was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, 
Kanss.&nbsp; She loved God and loved telling her grandkids Bible stories.&nbsp; 
She enjoyed teaching preschool Sunday school classes, serving in the 
church nursery, traveling to see family, reading and dearly loved 
spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death are her parents, grandparents and sister, Loretta Dunnam.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Larry) Ostrander of Hastings,

Joyce (Bohl) French

Patricia May (O’Toole) Nichol of Utica, KS passed away 12 days before her 91st birthday on September 12, 2020, at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, KS.

Patricia was born on September 24, 1929, to Albert O’Toole and Bessie 
(Larrabee) O’Toole at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays, KS. An only child, 
she grew up on the family farm in Southern Trego County and graduated 
from WaKeeney / Trego Community High School in 1947. From there, life 
took Patricia to Fort Hays Kansas State College where she was the second
 of four generations to earn a degree from there. While there, she was a
 member of the Tri-Sigma Sorority, was the Panhellenic Council 
President, and was chosen the 1951 Reveille Yearbook Queen by Bing 
Crosby.&nbsp; In addition to earning her Bachelor of Science in Education, 
she met a tall, handsome gentleman from Palco, KS. It was said that many
 young Fort Hays gentlemen had hopes of winning Patricia’s heart, but 
when Donald Lee Nichol came into the room, everyone knew that they no 
longer had a shot, because she only had eyes for him.

After graduation, Donald left for Korea and Patricia began her 
teaching career at Osborne High School. A student from that time 
recalls, that while standing on the stage as a new teacher, Miss 
O’Toole’s introduction to students drew whistles from the high school 
boys.&nbsp;

After teaching in Osborne for a year, Patricia moved to Ness City 
where she taught and was later joined by her future husband, Donald.

On June 5, 1954, Donald and Patricia were married at the WaKeeney 
Presbyterian Church. In 1960, Albert Lee was born and Lynette Ann 
followed in 1964.

Together they made their home, living on the same family farm in 
which Patricia had grown-up, living near her parents and her uncles’ 
families. They experienced ups and downs as all couples do, but Patricia
 continued her career, teaching English, directing plays, and acting as a
 librarian. She will be long remembered for making her students brownies
 and the many other ways she went above and beyond for her students. In 
addition to being a full-time teacher and mom, Patricia was also a 
pillar of the communities that she loved.

She was a faithful member of the Arnold United Methodist Church, 
United Methodist Women, and the Fort Hays State University Alumni 
Association. She loved to research her family genealogy and especially 
enjoyed the annual summer gathering when everyone came together to enjoy
 ice cream and share new information. She made two trips to Ireland, one
 of which she met her cousins and visited the original O’Toole family 
farm. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved Fort Hays State 
football and basketball, Kansas State football, Kansas basketball, the 
Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Patricia’s pride and joy were her entire family, but especially her children and grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by a son, Albert Lee Nichol and his wife 
Caroline. Their children: Jeremiah, Jessica, Jacob, Caleb, Joshua, and 
Hannah.

A daughter, Lynette and her children, Madeline and AnnaBelle and many other cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald.

Celebrating a Life Well Lived, Patricia’s service will be held, 
Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Ransom / Western Plains High School 
gymnasium in Ransom, KS at 10:00 a.m. Services will be livestreamed 
online on Fitzgerald Funeral Home Facebook page. Viewing will be on 
Friday, September 18, 2020, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. – 
9:00 p.m. Those attending are asked to respect masking and social 
distancing guidelines. Burial will follow at the WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Patricia May (O’Toole) Nichol

Retha Roena Ray Hubbs, 96, died September 12, 2020, of natural causes 
at the High Plains Retirement Village in the Alzheimer’s Care Unit.

She was born September 6, 1924, at Haviland, KS the daughter of Willie
 C Ray and Lulanell Elizabeth Dealey Ray.&nbsp; Living on a farm outside of 
Tribune, Retha attended the country school of “Cactus." One season, her
 grade school competed against another country school, Mt Olive, and two
 town schools, Tribune and Horace in a competition which we would 
consider a track event now. The small country school of “Cactus” took 1st
 place with every child competing in homemade uniforms of “Black and 
Orange” made by their mothers including Retha’s mother, Lulanell.&nbsp; Retha
 was one of the star runners at this competition placing 1st in her events and her younger sister Lorene came in third to help with the trophy win. Mt. Olive Placed 2nd making the little country schools the victors!

Retha went to high school in Tribune KS, pursuing home economics and 
as a drum majorette, she was adept in twirling 2 batons simultaneously!!
 &nbsp;(Her prize for that was a broken nose.)

After high school, it wasn’t long until she traveled to CA to visit 
family and reconnected with her future husband Dale L. Hubbs who was 
attending Naval Boot Camp.&nbsp; Dale began courting Retha soon after. &nbsp;He 
transferred to Corpus Christi, TX for Naval Air training and he ask 
Retha to come to TX and marry him and she agreed.&nbsp; They were married 
December 14, 1944.&nbsp; Soon they traveled to Florida for more 
flight training.&nbsp; After the war ended, they moved to Boulder CO where 
they established their home and grew their family, while Dale attended 
pharmacy school.

When Dale graduated, life found them in Tribune, KS to become owner –
 operators of T.K. Drug.&nbsp; In 1955, it was off to Lovell, WY and the 
purchased the Busy Corner Pharmacy. &nbsp;In 1973, came a career change and a 
move to Saratoga, WY to co-own and operate the Reverse L Diamond Ranch. 
&nbsp;In 1980, with their parent’s health failing they again moved to Sharon 
Springs KS.&nbsp; One of Retha’s joys while living in Sharon Springs was to 
drive a school bus and make cookies for the children who rode with her.&nbsp;
 Dale and Retha made a few more moves and as you can imagine that in all
 these moves Retha became very proficient in packing and unpacking!!!

Throughout her life, she owned a milk cow and made butter and cottage 
cheese for her family to enjoy and to sell.&nbsp; She also made a famous sour
 cream chocolate cake that was to die for, passing down the recipe to 
her oldest granddaughter. &nbsp;

Retha worked side by side with her husband Dale in laying a 
foundation of love, responsibility, commitment and continual example of a
 solid work ethic for their children, and for an understanding of life 
in hard and abundant times.

She was a devoted wife and mother. &nbsp;We celebrate Retha’s life and 
because of our faith we rejoice that she has now joined our father, “the
 love of her life."

Retha is survived by 2 sons, Dennis Hubbs, Saratoga, WY, &nbsp;Kim Hubbs, 
Templeton, CA; &nbsp;3 daughters,&nbsp; Iris Harnagel, Casper WY, &nbsp;Penny Twomey, 
Wright WY, &nbsp;Kody Rogers, Scott City KS, numerous grandchildren, and 
great grandchildren, and sister, Carolyn Ray, Scott City KS.

Retha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale (2009), one daughter Jonell and one sister Lorene Giesick.

There will be a private family memorial in Wyoming at a later date.

James P. “Jim” Dinkel, 71, Hays, died Sunday, September 13, 2020 at HaysMed.

He was born October 26, 1948 in Hays, 
the son of Joe S. and Pauline (Karlin) Dinkel.&nbsp; In 1966 Jim graduated 
from Victoria High School.&nbsp; From 1968 until 1970 he was a Military 
Policeman in the United States Army, stationed in Korea.&nbsp; On November 
25, 1968 he was united in marriage to Peggy A. Leiker at Immaculate 
Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and they celebrated 51 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; For many years he delivered milk for LK Dairy, and then was 
the maintenance director at The Mall.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate 
Heart of Mary Catholic Church, he sang Taps with the VFW Post #9076 
Honor Guard for many years, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 
#9076.&nbsp; He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and was an avid Kansas City 
Chiefs fan.&nbsp; Most of all, he loved his family and attending his 
children’s and grandchildren’s events.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Peggy, of 
the home in Hays, a son; Danny Dinkel and wife Jill of Hays, three 
daughters; Lori Post and husband Shad of Hays, Amy Ames and husband Eric
 of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Sarah Koelling and husband Jeffrey of Overland
 Park, Kansas, three brothers; Melvin Dinkel and wife Clarita of Hays, 
Delmar Dinkel of Hays, and Kenny Dinkel and wife Marjorie of Plainville,
 three sisters; Dorothy Jacobs of Hays, Lucy Brown of Victoria, and 
Donna Deckman and husband Joe of Hays, 11 grandchildren; Josh Post and 
wife Sarah, Alyssa Moeder and husband Trey, Ryan Post and fiancé Shay, 
Sophie and Connor Ames, Emma, Caden, Colin, and Haven Dinkel, and

James P. 'Jim' Dinkel

Norman Gene Pletcher was born to Marvin George Pletcher and Mona Evelyn 
Allen on April 21, 1934. He passed away on September 12 2020, at the age 
of 86 years, 4 months and 22 days. 


He was born and raised near Lebanon, Kansas. He married Charlotte 
Louise Figgins on April 17, 1955. In the Military they were stationed in
 California, Washington, and then back to Kansas. He was stationed in 
Alaska for 9 months in the Army. He was in the Army for 2 years. After 
returning to Kansas, he reunited with his wife, and also managed a Dairy
 bar Restaurant in Osborne, Kansas. They managed the restaurant for six 
months. Finally, they settled down on a farm south of Lebanon for 
several years.


They moved to Mankato, Kansas in 1962 where he had several 
occupations. He worked for the REA, Dubuque packing plant, saw mill and 
Merl Blew¹s welding shop. Norman was well-known as ³Stormin Norman² for 
his tree-trimming and removal business. Stormin Norman was a nickname 
from his National Guard colleagues. He was also in the Army National 
Guard for 18 years. In the National Guard he was deployed in Panama to 
work on the Panama Canal. In 1992, Norman and Charlotte moved back to 
Lebanon, Kansas to take care of his parents. Also, where Norman 
continued his tree-trimming and removal business.


Norman and Charlotte Pletcher moved to the Sun Porch Assisted Living in Smith Center, Kansas on June 15, 2020.


He had many hobbies throughout his life, making cement blocks, bee 
keeping, raising rabbits and chinchillas and his biodiesel manufacturing
 and raising large gardens. He would generously give away grown produce 
to the local neighborhood.


Those that celebrate his life are his wife, Charlotte Pletcher, 
Sister, Neta Joy Pletcher; children, Cheryl Jensen and husband (David 
Jensen); Colleen Girard and husband (Bob Girard); Lester Pletcher, Betty
 Corona and husband (Jose Corona). He has a total of eight 
grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many other relatives.

On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Evan John Charles — son, grandson, brother and friend — passed on from this world.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Evan was born on March 8, 1990, in Salina, KS, to John and Mandy Charles. He was a 2008 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University, majoring in Media Studies.&nbsp;

Evan had many passions and loved his family and friends above all else. He enjoyed disc golf, playing basketball, road trips with dad, listening to music, watching sports (especially KSU football) and spending time with those he cared about.&nbsp;

Evan John Charles

Goodland, Kansas resident, Richard “Rastus” Wade Simon, 61, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.

Rich was born on August 6, 1959, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Ray Melvin and Marilyn Ann Simon.&nbsp; He was one of three children.&nbsp; He became a child of God through baptism and confirmation at the St. John Lutheran Church in Alma Kansas. He attended Wabaunsee High School and graduated in 1977.&nbsp; He then went on and attended Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School.

He worked at McClure Plumbing for several years before going to work for the City of Goodland in 1989 where he worked for 30 years.&nbsp; He was promoted twice and was the Public Works Superintendent, and was scheduled to retire on September 11, 2020. &nbsp;

On September 22, 1998, he married Kody in Las Vegas.&nbsp; Over the years, they opened their home up to several foster kids and enjoyed fishing, hunting, football, collecting guns, and flying his powered parachute. He was very active member, and felt it was an honor to be a member of the local Kiwanis Club for many years.&nbsp; In March of 2018, he received the Kansas Rural Works Municipal Operator of the Year award.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Kody Simon, father Ray, brother Kurt Simon.&nbsp;

He was survived by his mother, Marilyn Simon, sister, Linda Conner, niece Emily Conner, great-niece Michalah Piotraschke and step-son Quennton and his wife Lyssa. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews and many close friends. &nbsp;

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland.&nbsp; Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 10:30 AM MT at the Goodland United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Grimm officiating.

Private family inurnment will be held in Goodland and Alma cemeteries in Goodland and Alma, Kansas at a later date.&nbsp;

Richard 'Rastus' Wade Simon

Mary A. LeRoy passed away September 11, 2020.&nbsp; She was born July 8, 
1932, in rural Butler County near Towanda, Kansas, the daughter of 
Benoni and DeVesta (Kennedy) Smith.&nbsp; She married Louis A. LeRoy on 
November 26, 1950.

Mary was a homemaker, church secretary, and bookkeeper.&nbsp; She was a 
member of First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend, where she served 
terms as Deacon, Elder, and Clerk of Session; was active in the 
Presbyterian Women’s organization, serving as secretary; and was 
chairperson for the Prayer Tower.

She is survived by two sons: Jeffrey LeRoy, and Mark LeRoy (Lea Ann),
 both of Great Bend; one daughter: Shari Blase (Robert), of rural 
Hoisington; four grandchildren: Jacob Blase (Kaylee), Shannon (Blase) 
Elliott (Jeff), Douglas Blase (Lindsey), all of the Kansas City area, 
and Kyle LeRoy (Chelsy), of Larned; and eight great-grandchildren: 
Juliet and Natalie Blase; Samantha, Saoirse, and Arthur Elliott; Atlas 
Blase; and Calvin and Alyxandra LeRoy. She is also survived by her 
in-laws, Duane and JoAnn (LeRoy) Stoskopf, of Overland Park; and by many
 nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson 
Garrett Blase; three sisters: Thelma Smith, Hazel Ratts, and Evelyn 
Morris; and four brothers: Boyd Smith, Bruce Smith, Frank Smith, and Ben
 Smith.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will be 
held at a later date.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery.

Ray Schreiner, age 88, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Trego CountyLemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. He was born January 13, 1932 to John and Beata (Knoll)Schreiner in St. Peter, KS. 

As a farmer and rancher, Ray loved his Charolais cattle. He enjoyed fishing and visiting with his friendsand family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong Catholic. Ray was a beloveduncle to his many nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed.

Ray is survived by his brother Walter (Genevieve) Schreiner of Topeka, KS; nephews Richard A.Schreiner, John Webb, John Schreiner, Alvin Schreiner, Walt M. Schreiner, and Don Schreiner; niecesDeanne Level, Terri Budzyna, Nanette Woodall, Patricia Albin, Cindy Werth, and Carol Luetters.

Clayton H. Campbell, 90, died at his home in Hill City, Kansas, Monday, 
September 7, 2020. He was born March 14, 1930 in Minneapolis, Kansas to 
Leo Morton and Mary Lou (Constable) Campbell. He was raised in   
Minneapolis, attending grade and high school there. Following high 
school graduation, Clayton went to Bethany College in Lindsborg where he
 played football. When he was no longer able to play football because of
 an injury, he quit college and worked for a Lindsborg area farmer. In 
1951 he joined the United States Army, was stationed in Korea, and 
earned the Korean Service Medal.


After the war Clayton worked as a concrete truck driver for a 
construction company. He soon moved to Hill City where he helped with 
the building of Dawson Place. Clayton met Betty Scott and they were 
married December 24, 1962, in Hill City. A change in jobs found him 
employed by Pfeifer Well Service until they closed their operation. He 
finished his work years with Murfin Well Service retiring in 2000 at the
 age of 70. 


Through the years Clayton and Betty kept busy working and raising 
their family. When he found spare time on his hands, he enjoyed fishing.
 However, most of all, he loved spending time with his family, 
especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 


Preceding Clayton in death were his parents, his wife Betty 
(September 3, 2012) and two brothers-in-law:  Leo and Jerry.  Survivors 
left to cherish his memory are his sons:  Bobby Nix, Jr., Hays and 
Curtis Campbell and his wife Suzanne, Derby; his daughter Tammy 
Richmeier, Hill City; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 
seven great grandchildren. Clayton will be greatly missed and lovingly 
remembered.

Clayton H. Campbell

Gerald F. “Jerry” Ruder was called to his heavenly home on Friday, 
September 11, 2020, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, at 
the age of 83. 

Jerry was born to Leo and Bridget (Bieker) Ruder on 
December 6, 1936, in rural Rooks County. He was united in marriage to 
Sonja (Grieve) Ruder on December 28, 1960, and was blessed with two 
daughters: Jacqueline and Bridget.


Jerry grew up in Rooks County where he attended Plainville High 
School and graduated with the class of 1954. Following high school he 
attended Seminary School briefly before he returned home in 1958 to tend
 to his family’s farm after his father suffered a heart attack. His 
father Leo was a man of many talents and some could say Jerry molded to a
 figure much like him. Jerry was well known for his expertise in wheat 
farming, his ambitious drive, working to the best of his abilities, 
humble intelligence, and firm faith in the Lord. Jerry was very active 
in the church for many years. He also spent many years farming and 
working at grain elevators for the Co-op and later Midland Marketing 
until he was forced to retire due to declining health. Even in 
retirement his will to keep pushing through the days with grace was 
evident to the people he was around. Jerry kept going and loved to 
travel. Weekends were for small trips around Kansas, whether it was to 
shop, explore wildlife, or enjoy the back roads; it was for getting out 
of the house and spending time with family and ending a good Saturday by
 dressing up in his church attire to attend mass to praise Jesus. After 
harvest he would take his family on a vacation, many of those trips to 
Colorado, to get away and unwind after all the long days spent working 
the grain elevator, helping others to bring in the fruits of their 
labor.


If Jerry wasn’t busy working on grain elevators, tending the land, 
playing pitch, traveling somewhere to eat, or eating - you could find 
him kicked back in a recliner with a cat, watching some sort of sporting
 event. He loved all sports, didn’t matter what it was, if he was 
watching TV, there was sports on. His favorite teams were the Kansas 
City Chiefs, Royals, and K-State. He had a competitive nature and a work
 ethic to back it. In high school Jerry may not have been the biggest 
guy on the football field, but that perseverance to be better earned him
 several varsity letterings and praise from his peers. That competitive 
drive was carried beyond high school to all facets of his life, 
including eating! He loved to eat, find new places to eat, and have 
competitions of who could eat the most between family members.


A few paragraphs could never fully justify the life of a holy, 
hardworking, kind-hearted, family man. The memories and stories that 
will be told will keep that tender and kindred spirit alive and be a 
testament to a life centered around faith, family, and love.


Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Bridget Ruder; and brothers, Alfred, Walter, and Melvin Ruder.


Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sonja Ruder of Hays, KS;

Gerald F. 'Jerry' Ruder

Patricia “Pat” Louise (Blass) Weidenhaft, 66, passed away on September 
12, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS, from a courageous 
battle with cancer. Pat was born on September 26, 1953 in Beloit, KS, 
the daughter of James Donald and Lois Ann (Claycamp) Blass. She grew up 
in the Beloit area and attended school in Beloit where she graduated in 
1971 from Beloit High School. Pat married the love of her life, Joe 
Weidenhaft, on July 24, 1971, at the tender age of 17 in Beloit.  They 
were blessed with three children: Brandon, Jana, and Kelli.


Pat had a 27-year career working for the United States Postal 
Service and retired as the Postmaster of the Agra, KS post office after 
spending many years at the post office in Plainville, KS. She enjoyed 
reading, camping, and spending time with her family. Pat attended ALL 
her kids’ and grandkids’ activities. Being a life-long coach’s wife, she
 wasn’t afraid to let an official know when they missed a traveling 
call. She became even more spirited when attending her grandkids’ 
activities!


Pat is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joe Weidenhaft of 
Stockton; mother, Lois Blass of Beloit; son, Brandon Weidenhaft and wife
 Julie of Hays; daughters, Jana Griffin and husband Ryan and Kelli 
Cockrell and husband Brian, all of Stockton; six grandchildren, Taylor 
Weidenhaft, Shaelyn and Noah Griffin, and Joseph, Judsten, and Jake 
Cockrell; sisters, Terry (Dan) Mulder of Rural Phillipsburg, KS, Brenda 
(Jim) Tietjens of Glen Elder, KS, Barb (Bob) Broughton of Las Vegas; and
 brothers, Mike (Chris) Blass of Beloit, Joe and Von Blass of Santee CA,
 and George Blass of Beloit; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” Blass and in-laws Bill and Phyllis Weidenhaft.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Celebration 
Community Church in Hays on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.

Terry Lee Schissler, 73, of Atwood, Kansas, passed away on Monday 
September 7th 2020 in Seffner, Florida. Terry was born in Oberlin, 
Kansas to Clifford Schissler and Blanche Schissler (Simpson) on March 
26th, 1947.


He went to school in Atwood Kansas prior to entering the military. He 
was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Navy primarily on River 
Patrol Boats (PBR 104). He was awarded Combat action ribbon, National 
defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal with device, 
Vietnam service medal with one bronze star, and Navy unit commendation 
with combat V.


After the military he went home to Atwood to help work in Schissler’s 
Body Shop that his father owned. Later moved to Davenport, Iowa to go to
 Chiropractic School. He worked as a machinist at Case then also worked 
as a well-rounded carpenter in several construction projects. In the 
early 80’s he moved to Florida selling insurance. He spent the rest of 
his career as a Kitchen Designer at Home Depot. While at Home Depot he 
was one of a handful selected to go to the Olympics while working there.
 He invited his brother Lee to join him for this historic event.


He loved riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. He spent the majority
 of his early years hunting and fishing. He regularly told stories of 
how he used to go out as a kid to hunt and fish to bring food back home.
 Terry had ordered his first shotgun on his own, without his parents 
knowledge when he was 12. Wow, times have changed.


Upon moving to Florida, he took up his hobby of surf fishing that he 
continued to do up until he was unable to. He struggled at first, as the
 regulars would never let him know what they were using for bait. He 
continued to follow his passion and became a master surf fisherman. Most
 people would always remember the fish fry’s he used to throw. Whether 
he was actually feeding you delicious pompano or messing with you and 
feeding you catfish, most couldn’t tell. If you ever told him you would 
never eat something; he would sneak it in just to get one over on you.


Terry has always had motorcycles through the years, but it wasn’t till 
the last 20 years it became a way of life for him. From getting his 
sportster in early 2000, to getting that beautiful blue Softail Deuce in
 ’02. Everyone knew him by his one of a kind Harleys. Terry, Craig, and 
Billy (The Three Amigos) rode all over Florida going to bike nights, 
rallies, and basically raising hell. The party never started till they 
showed up. Terry loved spending time with his children and making people
 smile and laugh by telling his jokes and stories. For anyone that spent
 any length of time around him, you probably walked right into at least 
one of his jokes.


Terry had battled cancer later in life and was able to enjoy many years 
of retirement. Near the end, he battled with other medical conditions 
relating to his military service, but rarely let that get his spirit 
down. He remained a prankster and joker till his peaceful end. Terry is 
preceded in death by Clifford Schissler (father), Blanche Schissler 
(mother), and Janice Kogl Schissler (Sister).  Terry is survived by Son,
 Kyle Schissler (April). Son, Daniel Schissler (Ashley), Son, Matthew 
Schissler (Alana), Daughter, Kara Imbriani, Brother, Lee Schissler 
(Jackie), and 5 grandchildren. Austin Schissler, Mya Schissler, Masen 
Schissler, L.J. Collins, &amp; Jamison Collins.


Terry will be laid to rest next to his parents in his hometown of 
Atwood, Kansas, at a later date. The family of Terry Schissler wishes to
 extend our sincere thanks to everyone that kept in touch with him over 
the years. He was great at starting a conversation with strangers and 
immediately making a memorable impression. He was a talker and loved to 
visit with people.

continued to follow his passion and became a master surf fisherman. Most
 people would always remember the fish fry’s he used to throw. Whether 
he was actually feeding you delicious pompano or messing with you and 
feeding you catfish, most couldn’t tell. If you ever told him you would 
never eat something; he would sneak it in just to get one over on you.
Terry has always had motorcycles through the years, but it wasn’t till 
the last 20 years it became a way of life for him. From getting his 
sportster in early 2000, to getting that beautiful blue Softail Deuce in
 ’02. Everyone knew him by his one of a kind Harleys. Terry, Craig, and 
Billy (The Three Amigos) rode all over Florida going to bike nights, 
rallies, and basically raising hell. The party never started till they 
showed up. Terry loved spending time with his children and making people
 smile and laugh by telling his jokes and stories. For anyone that spent
 any length of time around him, you probably walked right into at least 
one of his jokes.
Terry had battled cancer later in life and was able to enjoy many years 
of retirement. Near the end, he battled with other medical conditions 
relating to his military service, but rarely let that get his spirit 
down. He remained a prankster and joker till his peaceful end. Terry is 
preceded in death by Clifford Schissler (father), Blanche Schissler 
(mother), and Janice Kogl Schissler (Sister). Terry is survived by Son,
 Kyle Schissler (April). Son, Daniel Schissler (Ashley), Son, Matthew 
Schissler (Alana), Daughter, Kara Imbriani, Brother, Lee Schissler 
(Jackie), and 5 grandchildren. Austin Schissler, Mya Schissler, Masen 
Schissler, L.J. Collins, &amp; Jamison Collins.
Terry will be laid to rest next to his parents in his hometown of 
Atwood, Kansas, at a later date. The family of Terry Schissler wishes to
 extend our sincere thanks to everyone that kept in touch with him over 
the years. He was great at starting a conversation with strangers and 
immediately making a memorable impression. He was a talker and loved to 
visit with people.
