Keith Alden Van Pelt

Keith Alden Van Pelt was born July 1, 1947 in Delta, CO to LeRoy "Jack" Van Pelt and Katie Maude (Smith) Van Pelt. He passed away Saturday, Sept 26, 2020 at the Great Plains Hospital in North Platte, NE at the age of 73.

Keith was raised in Dresden, KS where he attended grade school and graduated from Jennings High School in Jennings, KS in 1965. Keith was drafted into the Army in July of 1966 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in June of 1968.

Keith married Elaine Wagoner on November 5, 1966 and to this union they had 3 children, Curt, Leah, and Jason.

Keith married his 2nd wife Maritta Louise (Foight) on April 7, 1973. Over the years, the family made their home in McCook and Indianola, NE and Oberlin, KS. Keith worked for Murfin Drilling Company for over 40 years before he retired in January 2015. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities along with his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews activities.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Shannon Van Pelt of Winfield, KS and Jason and Lorna Van Pelt of Clayton, NC; one daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Steve Sewell of Dresden, KS; one sister-in-law, Jannelle Van Pelt of Indianola, NE, and two brothers-in-law, Glendon Foight of Grand Island, NE and Ron Foight of Beaver City, NE. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Dan Sewell, Thomas Sewell, Alexis Ruetti, Kayla DelaVega, Kyle Van Pelt, Kaden Van Pelt, Gina Westerman, Spencer Van Pelt and Ariana Van Pelt; 8 great-grandchildren: Vichtor DeleVega, Trinity Sewell, Wally Sewell, RJ Ruetti, Lyndee Ruetti, Jay Van Pelt, Dexter and Zephren Westerman; in addition to nephews and nieces and other family members and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Maritta (Foight) Van Pelt; parents LeRoy and Katie; one infant brother and one infant sister; brothers Roy Van Pelt and Charlie Van Pelt, and one sister-in-law Dona Van Pelt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Burial with military honors will follow at Oberlin Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-7:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2020 at Pauls Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at www.paulsfh.com
