Lawrence Alexander Munsch

Lawrence Alexander Munsch, 93, passed away with his family by his side on September 15, 2020, at Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells, CO. He was born in Bazine, Kansas, on February 21, 1927, the son of Henry and Catherine (Depperschmidt) Munsch. Lawrence was born and raised on a farm. He moved to Colorado in 1954 to farm with his wife and children. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1959 and was active in the Catholic Church. 

He is survived by Bonnie Bogenhagen (Gary), KayAnn Sexson (Richard), Dusty Tallman (Charlotte), Peggy Moberly (Rod), Cindy Hoffman (Dan), grand children and great grand children, as well as one brother, Robert Munsch, of Lawrence, Kansas, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews and extended family. 

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Catherine and Henry Munsch, his wife Edna, two daughters, Connie and Linda, granddaughter, Sonia, and grandson, John Henry, six brothers; Joe, Edwin, Ralph, Harry, Jerry and LeRoy Munsch, and three sisters; Velma Boltz, Arlene Hanan and Wanita Reinert.

Lawrence was a farmer and rancher that truly loved what he did. He was a member of the ASC Board for many years. He served on the Chivington Grazing Association Board as well. He played accordion in a band with his brothers and dad in a community band "Four on the Floor and Fifth under the seat" for many years. In his younger years, he played softball and bowled. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed talking to family and friends. He also enjoyed playing pitch, pinochle, nickel poker or finding a good slot machine to hit a jackpot.

A Funeral Mass of Resurrection was held on Monday, September 21, 2020 with Fr. Dan Ayers and Fr. Terry Klein as co-Celebrants.  Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells.  Memorials in Lawrence’s name may be made to Keefe Memorial Hospital, or the Knights of Columbus 3252 in care of Eastern Colorado Bank of Cheyenne Wells, P.O. Box 888, Cheyenne Wells, CO 80810.
