Margaret Lorene (McCormick) Williams Gargan, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021, at her home in Hays, Kansas.

She was born October 16, 1915, in 
Chapman, Kansas to William and Nellie B. (Miller) McCormick.&nbsp; She grew 
up at the farm south of Chapman and along with her siblings, she 
attended schools all 12 years in Chapman.&nbsp; She graduated from Dickinson 
Community High School in 1933.&nbsp; After graduation, Margaret began her 
career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Abilene and was transferred 
to the Hays office in 1936.&nbsp; She married Eugene L. Williams on June 6, 
1939 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Chapman.&nbsp; Gene and Margaret 
lived in Hays until 1946 when they moved to Evergreen, Colorado and 
raised their daughter, Barbara.&nbsp; Margaret transferred to the Mountain 
Bell Telephone office from which she retired in 1976.&nbsp; Gene preceded her
 in death in 1961.&nbsp; On January 6, 1968, Margaret married Justin Gargan 
at Christ the King Church in Evergreen, Colorado.&nbsp; Justin preceded her 
in death in 1979.

Margaret was active in community 
service as a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Telephone Pioneers, Chapman 
Area Preservation Society, and volunteered with the Red Cross, St. 
Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado and Hays Medical Center in Hays, 
Kansas.

Family has always been important to 
Margaret.&nbsp; She would fly out to the Northwest to visit her daughter 
Barb, son-in-law Mike, and grandchildren. She enjoyed phone calls from 
her grandchildren and pictures of her great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Being the 
oldest, Margaret became the matriarch of the family after her mother 
passed away.&nbsp; Her sister Bernardine lived with Margaret and Gene during 
her high school years.&nbsp; Margaret was the contact for her brothers during
 WW11.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, 
Barbara (Mike) Mahoney, Moscow, ID; step-daughters Kathleen Gargan and 
Ceil (Gargan) Martinez, and step-son William Gargan; grandchildren Kelly
 Isakson, Moscow ID; Mickey (Mary) Mahoney, Duffy (Leah) Mahoney, 
Sandpoint, ID; and Molly Mahoney, Boise, ID; seven great-grandchildren, 
Cody, Connor and Kendall Jo Isakson, Bailey, Piper, and Millie Mahoney, 
and Indiana Mahoney, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, Will and Nell McCormick, siblings and spouses, Bernardine 
(Leonard) Dinges, Thomas (Frieda), Ernest (Betty), William, Harold 
(Rita), Bernard, and Raymond (Laura) and a grandson-in-law, Pete 
Isakson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays,
 with Fr. Brian Lager officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be at 2:00 pm in St. 
Patrick's Cemetery, Chapman, with Fr. Fred Gatschet officiating.&nbsp; 
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Thursday at Hays Memorial 
Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am.&nbsp; The family 
requests that all in attendance wear masks.&nbsp; 

In lieu of flowers, 
memorials may be made payable to: St. Patrick's Cemetery or St. Joseph

Barbara Sue Lohrding, 81, passed away February 25, 2021, in Great 
Bend.&nbsp; She was born July 10, 1939, in Cambridge, to R.C. and Sue 
(Holman) Wadleigh.&nbsp;

Barbara, a Great Bend resident since 1970, coming from Coldwater, 
owned and operated Forever Country antique shop for many years.&nbsp; Antique
 collecting was her life's zeal, however, Barbara's heartfelt passion 
was showing kindness to others, doing her part to make the world a 
better place.&nbsp; She was especially proud of her grandchildren, staying in
 touch with them, even though they were separated by many miles.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Lohrding and wife Darby of 
Lecompton; one daughter, Linda Afzal and husband Tariq of Tampa, Fla.; 
one sister: Carol Kern and husband Jim of Jenks, Okla.; three 
grandchildren, Mariam Afzal, Aadam Afzal and Aziza Afzal; two nephews 
Greg Wadleigh and wife Tammy, and Brent Wadleigh and wife Sara; and two 
nieces, Missy Kern Hill and husband Randy, and Paula (Wadleigh) Hansen 
and husband Steve.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ron 
Wadleigh, Robert “Bob” Wadleigh and Richard “Dick” Wadleigh.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 
Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, with Rev. Marsha Granberry presiding.&nbsp;

Dolores Ann Haselhorst, age 86, of Antonino, Kansas, passed away Friday February 26, 2021, at Via Christi Village Hays. She was born July 19, 1934, in Ellis County Kansas to Felix T. and Anna (Klaus) Werth. She married Orville Haselhorst nearly 69 years ago in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Antonino on May 5, 1952. Dolores was a homemaker and had worked at Fort Hays State University in McMindes Hall. She was an involved member of Our Lady Help of Christians parish and Christian Mothers. Dolores enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, playing piano and precious time with her family that she held so dear to her heart. Steeped in Faith, Dolores met each day with a firm resolve to serve the Lord and to help others. She is survived by her husband Orville of Antonino, three sons, Art Haselhorst and wife Shirley (Legleiter), Allen Haselhorst, and Wayne Haselhorst all of Antonino; daughter Ann Cook and husband Ron of Manhattan, Kansas; &nbsp;brother, Harvey Werth (wife Dorothy) of Hays; five grandchildren, Travis Haselhorst, Tyler and wife (Jobeth) Haselhorst, Trey and wife (Laura) Haselhorst, Danielle Cook, Brandon Cook and fiancé Alissa, as well as three great grandchildren, Tanner Haselhorst, Jillyan Sheldon, and Oliver Haselhorst.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville’s parents, two brothers Harold (wife Betty) and Charles Werth, daughter-in-law Brenda (Arnold) Haselhorst, granddaughter Lisa Pfannenstiel and Orville’s brothers Walter (wife Agedia), Evarist (wife Alice), Merlin and Dennis. Michael “Mike” J. Keiley, 84, passed away February 24, 2021, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born December 27, 1936, at Hillsdale, MI, the son of Seth 
William and Ila Almina Deuel Keiley and raised by George “Frank” Trine.

A longtime area resident, he was of the Episcopalian faith and was a 
high school math teacher at Boys Tech in Milwaukee, WI.&nbsp; He also taught 
photography and took the boys to state many times as their Cross Country
 Coach.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Legion and served in the United
 States Air Force.

On August 20, 1966, he married Mary E. Burns in Jetmore.&nbsp; She passed away June 18, 2003.

Survivors include: his best friend, Pete; two daughters, Colette 
(Darrell) Prellwitz, Port Washington, WI, Colleen (Brad) Bergmann, 
Florissant, CO; son, Michael Keiley, Oak Creek, WI; sister, Edith (Tom) 
Bletcher, Ann Arbor, MI; three grandchildren, Brynna, Kiley and Addison;
 brother-in-law, Harry Burns, Jetmore; sister-in-law, Betty Romero, 
Spirit Lake, IA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Keiley; sister, Julie Murphy and a grandson, Spencer Joseph Bergmann.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 2 p.m.

Florina M. “Flo” Beilman, 90, Hays, died Thursday, February 25, 2021, at HaysMed.

She was born November 9, 1930, in 
Pfeifer, the daughter of John and Paulina (Roth) Jacobs. &nbsp;&nbsp;In 1949, she 
graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Salina. &nbsp;On April 9, 1952, she
 was united in marriage to Robert Peter Beilman in Pfeifer, and they 
celebrated 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on 
February 22, 2003.&nbsp; For 25 years she raised her family and was a 
homemaker, and then for 18 years was a Certified Nursing Assistant at 
Hadley Hospital and Hays Medical Center.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Joseph
 Catholic Church and volunteered with Hospice and Birthright.&nbsp; Flo loved
 her sports, especially the KC Royals and the KC Chiefs. &nbsp;Family was 
number one, and she loved gardening and watching her birds. &nbsp;The rosary 
was her saving grace, and she prayed for her family and friends daily.&nbsp;&nbsp;
 She touched many lives with her wit and humor and nobody was a 
stranger.&nbsp; Flo was loved by so many and we will miss her dearly.

Survivors include six sons: Rob Beilman
 (Joyce) of Derby, Chuck Beilman (Pam) of Arvada, CO, John Beilman (Andi
 Miller) of New Bern, NC, Wes Beilman (Keri) of Wichita, Ron Beilman 
(Kori) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jason Beilman (Stacey) of Ozawkie, 
four daughters: Peg Prockish (Dan) of Olathe, Paula Schlitter (Fred 
Bouse) of Hays, Marissa Lang of Wichita, and Jan Klaus (Brad) of Hays, 
one sister: Rosie Ziegler of Hays, 22 grandchildren, 23 great 
grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, five brothers: Lee, Gene, Marcy, Adolph, and Florian Jacobs and
 three sisters: Armella Schulte, Erma Chrnalager, and Marietta 
Hillenkamp.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with
 Fr. Brian Lager officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph 
Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on

graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Salina. &nbsp;On April 9, 1952, she
 was united in marriage to Robert Peter Beilman in Pfeifer, and they 
celebrated 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on 
February 22, 2003.&nbsp; For 25 years she raised her family and was a 
homemaker, and then for 18 years was a Certified Nursing Assistant at 
Hadley Hospital and Hays Medical Center.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Joseph
 Catholic Church and volunteered with Hospice and Birthright.&nbsp; Flo loved
 her sports, especially the KC Royals and the KC Chiefs. &nbsp;Family was 
number one, and she loved gardening and watching her birds. &nbsp;The rosary 
was her saving grace, and she prayed for her family and friends daily.&nbsp;&nbsp;
 She touched many lives with her wit and humor and nobody was a 
stranger.&nbsp; Flo was loved by so many and we will miss her dearly.Survivors include six sons: Rob Beilman
 (Joyce) of Derby, Chuck Beilman (Pam) of Arvada, CO, John Beilman (Andi
 Miller) of New Bern, NC, Wes Beilman (Keri) of Wichita, Ron Beilman 
(Kori) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jason Beilman (Stacey) of Ozawkie, 
four daughters: Peg Prockish (Dan) of Olathe, Paula Schlitter (Fred 
Bouse) of Hays, Marissa Lang of Wichita, and Jan Klaus (Brad) of Hays, 
one sister: Rosie Ziegler of Hays, 22 grandchildren, 23 great 
grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her 
parents, five brothers: Lee, Gene, Marcy, Adolph, and Florian Jacobs and
 three sisters: Armella Schulte, Erma Chrnalager, and Marietta

Donald E. “Don” Hageman, 74, Hays, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at HaysMed.

He was born January 8, 1947, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Russell and Lillian (Lowe) Hageman.&nbsp; In 1965, he graduated from LaHarpe High School.&nbsp; He graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.&nbsp; On December 23, 1972, he was united in marriage to Janice L. Green in LaHarpe, and they celebrated 48 years of marriage.&nbsp; Don dedicated 48 years of his life to teaching social studies and coaching football, basketball, track, soccer, and scholar’s bowl.&nbsp; He began his career in Norcatur, taught at Hoxie Junior High School, and retired from Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in 2017.&nbsp; After retirement, he transported foster children for KVC and St. Francis Ministries.&nbsp; He was a Boy Scout Troop Committee Chairman and active with the Boy Scouts with his sons as they were becoming Eagle Scouts.&nbsp; Don was friendly and quick with a smile and a joke.

Survivors include his wife Janice of Hays, two sons: Bryan Hageman of Phoenix, AZ and David Hageman of Lawrence, a brother: Gary Hageman and wife Artheia of Topeka, and a grandson: Liam Hageman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Urla J. Hopkins, age 88, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at
 the Ranch House Assisted Living in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born 
on May 6, 1932, in Ransom, Kansas, the daughter of Fred W. and Blanche 
Horchem Rufenacht.

In August of 1932, she moved with&nbsp;the family to Scott County and 
attended school in Ness County, then attended Mount Hope School in Scott
 County and graduated from Scott Community High School in 1950.&nbsp; She was
 a telephone operator for 14 years and an employee of USD 466 for 4 
years.

She was a member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church, Busy Bee 4-H 
Club, Wilby Workers EHU, Prairie Kitchen, Christian Motorcycle 
Association, Scott County Senior Center, Helping Hands Ministry all of 
Scott City, Kansas.

On September 22, 1951, she married John R. Hopkins in Scott City, 
Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away on October 19, 1998, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Two Sons - Dan Hopkins of Jetmore, Kansas, 
Dewane Hopkins of Larned, Kansas, One Daughter - Denece Dowden of Mount 
Pleasant, South Carolina, One Brother - George &amp; Val Rufenacht of 
Scott City, Kansas, Two Sisters - Ila Thearl of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 
Freda Stafford of Perryton, Texas, Seven Grandchildren and Nine Great 
Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Brother - Vernon Rufenacht, and One Grandson.

Tracy Leann Lowe

Clayton E. Karst, 95, died February 26, 2021, at Country Place Senior
 Living, Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was born March 9, 1925, in Galatia, 
Kansas, the son of Edd and Charlotte (Dumler) Karst.&nbsp; Clayton was a 1943
 graduate of Hoisington High School. A WWII veteran, Clayton served in 
the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal, and was stationed in 
Hawaii from 1943 to 1946.

Clayton worked for the family business, Karst Motor Company for 16 
years and later as a counterman for Big A Auto Parts retiring in 1987. 
He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on
 the council and helped in the maintance of the church in many aspects.&nbsp;
 He was a former commander of &nbsp;the Hoisington American Legion Post #286 
and a lifetime member of the Russell V.F.W. #6240, participating in the 
honor guard for many years.

On June 2, 1946, he married Hilda E. Herbel in Hoisington.&nbsp; She 
preceded him in death on July 19, 1993.&nbsp; He then married Helen E. Miller
 on September 28, 1996, in Hoisington.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on 
December 21, 2009.

He is survived by two daughters; Janice Terry and husband David of 
Overland Park, and Susan LaFaver of Greeley, Colorado; sister, Pauline 
Ray of Junction City; and two grandchildren, Amy La Faver of Venice, 
Florida and Angela Walts of Odessa, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives; brother, Paul Karst, and a sister, Isabelle Dumler.

Visitation will be Sunday 1 to 6 p.m., and Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran 
Church, Hoisington, with Reverend Wayne Baldyga presiding. Burial will 
follow at Hoisington Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the 
United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Emmanuel

Eleanor Ann Dailey, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 
Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born September 4, 1940, in Great 
Bend, the daughter of John and Edith Ann (Kummer) Dailey.

Eleanor has been a lifelong resident of Great Bend. She graduated 
Great Bend High School with the Class of 1958. She was a beautician for 
thirty five years and a PBX clerk for CKMC for forty years. Eleanor was a
 member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the
 altar society.

Survivors include a brother, Richard “Dick” Dailey of Great Bend; a 
sister, Janiece Burke of Denver, Colo.; nineteen nieces and nephews; and
 many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 
parents; five brothers, James Dailey, Jerry Dailey, William Dailey, Jack
 Dailey, Jr., and Donald “Dee” Dailey; four sisters, Dorthea Hershey, 
Peggy Dailey, Patricia Dillard and Gwen Bible; and a nephew, John 
Dailey.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place and 
Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date.

Janice Rae (Stewart) Marshall, 82, of Russell, Kansas passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25th, 2021 at the Russell Regional Hospital, Russell, KS.

Janice was born on May 1, 1938 in Hays, KS to Margaret (Boxberger) and Louis Kenneth Stewart. Janice lived her entire life in Russell and graduated from Russell High School with the class of 1956.

She married the love of her life, Malcolm Marshall on September 7, 1958 and they recently celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary.&nbsp; Through this marriage, they were blessed with three children; LaRissa Morse, Aaron Marshall and Eric Marshall.

Janice held many accounting positions in the Russell area for years including Bennett &amp; Roberts, &nbsp;Red Shaw Oil, Rudy Herman Oil Operations and &nbsp;Elmer Fox &amp; Company.&nbsp;&nbsp; On May 1, 1971, Janice and Malcolm purchased the Lewis Jewelry Store from Harold and Juanita Lewis at 710 Main St and renamed it Marshall’s Jewelry &amp; Gifts. &nbsp;A few years later, they moved the store to 708 Main St. where they incorporated a fresh and silk flower shop to the back; hence Marshall’s Flowers. Janice graduated from Floral Design School in Lawrence, Kansas and was able to use her skills in developing and designing the flower shop. This business was built and continued for nearly 30 years before she retired in May 1999.

Janice enjoyed bowling, playing bridge as she spearheaded Bridge-O-Rama for her sorority, The Delta Kappa Gamma of Beta Sigma Phi, traveling to see her children and grandchildren; always stopping off at the Casinos along the way! &nbsp;You could always find her at the draw poker machines! &nbsp;She was a faithful servant of God and member of St. John Lutheran Church, Russell, Kansas; serving the parish as a lecturer, greeter and organist for over 40 years.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Malcolm of the home; daughter LaRissa Morse of Shawnee, Kansas; sons, Aaron Marshall (Paula)of Omaha, Nebraska and Eric Marshall (Linda)of Kearney, Missouri. She has one sister, Linda Sue Motzner (Bill) of Lexington, Nebraska. &nbsp;She has six grandchildren, Kayla Owens (Blake) and Chloe Morse, Matthew and Caroline Marshall and Miranda and Marleigh Marshall along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. &nbsp;Janice was preceded in death are her parents and son-in-law, Gary Morse.

Celebration of Janice’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, 5th and Main St. in Russell, Kansas. &nbsp;Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 1pm-8pm, Sunday, February, 28, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6-7pm.

Thomas Jacob Foran passed away at the Hays Medical Center on Wednesday, 
February 24, 2021 at the age of 74. Tom was born on April 29, 1946 to

 Tom was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County. He was a stand-out 
athlete for Wilson High School; he was All-State for football and 
basketball and also played baseball. He graduated in 1964 and was 
recruited by Bethany College to play football. After two years at 
Bethany he furthered his education and continued to play college 
football at Fort Hays State. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1968. He 
then returned to farming in Wilson. 
 Tom’s favorite past time was playing poker with his “poker buddies”.
 He played poker seriously with his friends, and we aren’t talking 
pennies and dimes type of poker. He was serious about his cards and did 
not fiddle with playing against anyone who didn’t understand the game or
 couldn’t play to his level, including his nieces. You could say farming
 and poker were his life, but he made sure that there was time to take 
the best care of his parents. A gentle giant that was a kind and genuine
 man, Tom was loved by all and a friend to everyone. He never knew a 
stranger and didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone. His intellect 
was admired by all who knew him, and his friendship was cherished by 
those who became close with him. His loss will leave a place in the 
hearts and lives of family and friends no one else can fill; however, he
 leaves a collection of memories and precious times we shared, true 
keepsakes of our hearts that will remain forever.
 Tom is survived by his siblings, Michael Dennis Foran of Wichita and
 Mary Alice Foran-Bush of Elizabeth Town, KY; twelve nieces and nephews;
 and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews. 
 He joins in heaven his parents, William and Mary Foran; brother, 
Kevin (Dorothy) Foran; sister, Carolyn (Leonard) Galliart; 
brother-in-law, Elmer “Sunny” Bush; two nephews, William Bush and 
Timothy Galliart; and a niece, Patricia Galliart.
 A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at The
 Iron Lion/Old Rec Center from 2PM until 6PM. A book signing will be 
held on Friday at the funeral home in Wilson from 4PM until 8PM.

February 24, 2021 at the age of 74. Tom was born on April 29, 1946 to

Michael Allen Symns, 41, of Saratoga, Wyoming, died February 22, 2021,
 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born November 14, 1979, 
in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Robert Allen and Regina L. (Cade) 
Symns.

Michael lived in Goddard and Hays, Kansas as a child and attended 
Hays High School.&nbsp; He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 800 of 
Bar Nunn, Wyoming and enjoyed operating heavy equipment as a career.&nbsp; He
 recently worked on the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy project
 located near Sinclair and Rawlins in Carbon County, Wyoming.&nbsp; He was an
 avid hunter and fisherman and was most at home in the great outdoors of
 both Kansas and Wyoming.&nbsp;

He is survived by: his daughter, Sage Marie Symns of Texas; mother, 
Regina Cade (Bradley Stiggins), Partridge, Kansas; his father, Robert 
(Sabrina) Symns, Saratoga, Wyoming; brother,&nbsp; Lloyd Symns, Partridge, 
Kansas; grandmother,&nbsp; Marilyn Cade, Abbyville, Kansas; along with 
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs J.C. Symns and George William (Bill) Cade.

Celebration of Life Services are planned for later this year in both 
Wyoming and Kansas.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to

Michael Allen Symns

Windell Grant Clark, son of the late Loyal Clark and Mary Carter Clark was born January 27, 1956, in Hill City, Kansas.

He passed away at his residence in Colorado Springs on February 2, 
2021. He attended Hoxie High School and after enlisting in the Army in 
1975, he graduated from Frankfurt American High School, Frankfurt 
Germany in 1976. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1978.

Windell resided for many years in WaKeeney, Kansas, where he was known for his crafty skills and his garage hospitality.

Windell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Clark.

Windell will be remembered by his children: Adam (Kodi) Clark of 
Loveland, CO, Michael (Lyn) Clark of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nicole

Margaret Teten Cauthon.&nbsp; Gertrude was a resident of Scott City, Kansas 
since 1932, moving from Albert, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On July 31, 1937, she married Lee L. Brown in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away on October 4, 2002, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her One Son - Larry L. &amp; Susan Brown of Scott 
City, Kansas, One Daughter - Delores J. Hughes of Excelsior Springs, 
Missouri, One Sister - Bonnie Dice of Napa, Idaho, Two Granddaughters - 
Cherie &amp; Tony Kardelis of Lakewood, Colorado, Kori &amp; Sage Davis 
of Scott City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her Parent, Husband, Three Brothers -

parents of the late Grace (Martens) and Lloyd Coop.

She lived all her life in the Osborne County area. &nbsp;She graduated from the Osborne High School in 1954. &nbsp;

Millie married Duane Spears and to this union 4 sons were born. &nbsp;She was a farmwife/homemaker.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis in 2015.

Carol Lynn Albertson was born July 29, 1932, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Hays, Kansas, to Henry and Amelia Albertson. 
 Carol had a close, affectionate relationship with her parents. She 
was very proud that Henry served in World War I under Captain Harry S. 
Truman and that he was the Graham County Magistrate Judge for 20 years. 
Amelia (Millie) was a loving mother who also served as Carol’s teacher 
at Glendale, a one-room schoolhouse near Hill City. Carol was very 
dedicated to taking care of Amelia as she aged, visiting her daily while
 she resided at Dawson Place. 
 As Carol was growing up, Curtis, her older brother by four years, 
loved looking out for her. They formed a great bond. Through the years 
she enjoyed visiting him in Tucson. At the age of 14, Carol met Allen 
Trexler while making sodas at the local drugstore. He began walking her 
home and they dated off and on for the next five years. They became 
engaged while attending Fort Hays State College. Carol and Curtis lived 
with their aunt and uncle, Fred and Ruby Albertson, while they attended 
college. Fred was a professor at Fort Hays and the Albertson Hall on 
campus was named in honor of him. 
 Allen and Carol were married February 17, 1952, in Hill City. With 
the help of Allen’s grandfather, they built a home four miles north of 
town later that year. Allen had begun farming with his dad and grandad. 
He was also working at the local grocery store owned by his parents, the
 Trexler Store. Carol worked for F&amp;M Bank, Kansas-Nebraska Gas 
Company and was a loan clerk for USDA. 
 In 1954, their first child Bradley Allen was born. Their daughter, 
Alynn Renee, arrived in 1958 to complete the family. Carol was active in
 the United Methodist Church, where she and her friend Loree began the 
tradition of the church bazaar. Carol liked helping her children with 
4-H projects, cooking, baking, listening to Lynn sing and watching 
Brad’s sports activities. 
 She especially enjoyed attending Lynn’s band gigs and listening to 
Brad speak while he served as the Kansas State FFA President. Carol also
 enjoyed working part-time at the Fashion Center and at a local floral 
shop. 
 In 1976, Carol was chosen as the most beautiful, naturally 
gray-haired woman in a nationwide search. She was flown to Chicago and 
photographed there. The portrait on this program was hung in beauty 
shops all over the world. Allen remembers seeing her photo in a mall in 
Montreal when they traveled to New England and Canada in the fall of 
that same year. 
 One of Carol’s greatest joys was being a grandmother to Meredith, 
Brittney, Gabe, and Keali. She always had a collection of bears ready 
for tea parties and loved baking with her granddaughters. Her signature 
dessert was her famous homemade apple pie. Her home was always open for 
sleepovers and she also had great memories of hosting many family 
holidays. She and Allen loved attending horse shows as Meredith and 
Brittney grew up. One summer they followed Brad, Kim, and the girls to 
32 locations, never missing a moment! 
 Over the last few years, Carol enjoyed spending time with her 
great-grandchildren: Blakeli, Briggs, Myles, and Marli. She also looked 
forward to family dinners at Kim’s house on the farm and on Jeff and 
Meredith’s deck. She and Allen made short road trips to Norton to share 
meals with Ty and Lynn as well. 
 February 17, 2021, Carol and Allen celebrated their 69th wedding 
anniversary. Four days later, February 22, 2021, she departed this earth
 in Hill City. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Henry and 
Amelia Albertson; her brother, Curtis Albertson; and her son, Bradley 
Trexler. Carol is survived by her husband, Allen Trexler, Hill City; 
daughter, Alynn (Ty) Bruton, Norton; daughter-in-law, Kim Trexler, Hill 
City; grandchildren: Meredith (Jeff) Drees, Hill City, Brittney (Jerad) 
Johnson, Colby, Gabe Bruton, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Keali Bruton, 
Norton; and eight great-grandchildren.

Alberto Garcia, age 49, of North Lauderdale, Florida, died from injuries sustained in an accident on February 23, 2021 in Thomas County, Kansas.

Kenneth L. “Ken” Kraus, 96, Omaha, Nebraska, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in Omaha.

He was born February 8, 1925, in Hays, 
Kansas, to his proud parents, Carl and Sadie (Wilson) Kraus on a farm 
South of Hays. He graduated from Hays High School in 1943.&nbsp; On June 1, 
1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy “Dottie” Harris in Hays, and 
they celebrated 73 years of marriage. He was a farmer and dairymen for 
most of his life.

He was a Lifetime member of the First 
United Methodist Church and served on many committees. He belonged to 
the Hays Lion’s Club and served as their Vice President and President. 
Ken served on the board of the Hays Farmers Co-op and was Chairmen of 
Epworth Towers a senior living apartment. He also served on the board of
 the Hays Plaza Apartments serving low-income families.

Ken has received many recognitions for a
 lifetime farming career. He was Chairman of the Ellis County Dairy 
Board and on the board of the Ellis County Dairy Herd Improvement. Ken 
was director of Southern Region Association Milk Producers, was elected 
to United Dairy Industry board of directors, and named to the Dairy 
Research Inc. Project Security Committee.&nbsp;

Award’s received during his lifetime as
 a dairyman were, the Balance Farming and Family for county and state, 
Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Farmer award, and Ellis County 
Conversation award in addition to the Distinguished Dairyman award. In 
1982, he was awarded the Kansas Master Farmer award. This same 
achievement was also given to his father, Carl, in 1928.

Survivors include his wife Dottie of 
Omaha, NE, a daughter: Pam (Gordon) Henrickson of Omaha, NE, a son: 
Steve (Pattie) Kraus of Atlanta, GA, two grandchildren: Aaron (Ruthie) 
Henrickson and Emily Kraus, a great grandchild: Nate Jarrow, and 
numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Eldon, John, Warren, and Harold, and his sister: Dorothy Bemis.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be at 
10:00 am on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Hays First United Methodist Church,
 with Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Fort Hays
 Memorial Gardens Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:00
 on Monday at the church.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made 
payable to: Hays First United Methodist Church for the children’s or 
youth ministry, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Geraldine Marie Meyer, 82 years, of Prescott, Arizona. Born in Russell, 
Kansas, on January 15, 1939 to Albert and Mary Hlad, and passed away on 
February 14, 2021 in Prescott, Arizona.
 Geraldine graduated as Valedictorian from Sylvan Grove High School, 
attended Faith Baptist Bible College and Commercial Extension School of 
Commerce. Throughout her career, she was a secretary for Mutual of Omaha, Eastman Kodak, Nebraska State 
College-Kearney, and Proctor and Gamble, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed, 
reading, singing and playing organ and piano.
 She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Hlad, and 
brother Ed Hlad. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Meyer, her 
sons Dr. David Meyer and Roger Meyer, her daughter, Karen Kelly,
 her grandchildren John Paul Kelly, Jessica Fadel, James Kelly, Grant
 Meyer, Gabby Meyer, Gavin Meyer and Garin Meyer, her 
great-grandchildren Isaiah and Keegan Kelly, her brother Ron Hlad, and 
sister
 Alene Thompson. 
 Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10AM at
 the First Baptist Church in Wilson. The family requests donations to 
United Indian Mission 6429 West Maryland Ave., Glendale, Arizona 85301.
