Mary Ellen Bell, 93, originally from WaKeeney, KS, died May 3, 2021, at Holiday Resort Health and Rehabilitation in Salina, KS, where she had been a resident since September 2017.
Miss Bell was born October 13, 1927, in WaKeeney, KS, to William Otis and Alma Flora (Harger) Bell. A 1947 graduate of WaKeeney High School, she served as a caregiver for her mother for 30 years.
Survivors include her sister, Lois Baalmann of Salina, KS; nieces Linda (Baalmann) Jones (Dan) of Salina, KS, Carol Baalmann of Shawnee, KS, Beverly (Baalmann) Rodriguez (James) of Fayetteville, NC, Kristi (Waldron) Rohr of Mesa, AZ, and Alice (Rohr) Sorenson (Steve) of Lincoln, NE; nephew Jerry Rohr (Connie) of Holiday, FL; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Irene Bell and Wilma Jean (Bell) Rohr (Aloysius); and nephews Allen Rohr (Kristi) and Mark Rohr (Karen).
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am before the service. Interment will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery following the service.
