
Ann Elaine Currie, age 92 of Stockton, passed away on Monday, March 16,
2020 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. Ann was born on
May 25, 1927 in Concordia, Kansas, grew up in Washington and Manhattan,
KS and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1945. Following high
school, she attended Kansas State University and earned a bachelor’s
degree in Home Economics Education in 1949 and taught went on to teach
Home Economics at WaKeeney High School. Ann was united in marriage to
Kenneth Clifford Currie on December 21, 1952. They moved to Stockton in
1957.
Ann worked a number of years at the Stockton Public Library
particularly enjoying the Children’s Story Hour and Crafts. She was a
60+ year member of the United Methodist Church in Stockton teaching
Sunday school, serving dinners and receptions and participating in the
Women’s Society. An avid follower of Stockton High School, she attended
activities until just a few years ago. Ann belonged to many service
organizations and was particularly active in P.E.O. Flower gardening
and sewing/quilting were lifelong interests. There was a no more
passionate K-state fan and she was especially proud that her
granddaughter was a 4th generation Wildcat.
Ann was a devoted mother and is survived by her children, Randall
(Lisa) Currie of Garden City, KS and Marty Currie (Doug Degler) of
Hayward, WI; brothers Bill (Helen) Neff, Portage, MI and John (Lorraine)
Neff, Farmington, CT; sister, Ruth Smethers Olathe, KS; and 1 special
granddaughter, Amanda Currie of Garden City, KS.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband and life partner, Ken and parents, Leonard and Margaret (Ferguson) Neff.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 20,
2021 at Stockton Cemterty. Memorials are suggested to the Kenneth C.
Currie Agricultural and the Ann E. Currie Home Economics scholarships
which have benefited Rooks County students studying in these fields at
