The Tigers are the only team from the GAC/MIAA within the top 12 of the Super Region 3 rankings. University of Indianapolis tops the first set of Super Region 3 rankings, also as the No. 1 ranked team in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Greyhounds defeated FHSU in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament, which is the last time the NCAA held a soccer championship tournament for men's soccer. Fort Hays State is looking to make a ninth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and the Tigers own the longest active streak for consecutive years in the NCAA Division II National Tournament (8). The Tigers played tough competition outside of GAC/MIAA play, which is helping boost their strength of schedule formula for the super region rankings. FHSU played to a tie with Maryville, which checks in at No. 2 in the first set of rankings. FHSU defeated Colorado Mesa, which ranks No. 3 in Super Region 4. BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Fort Hays State men's golf closed out its fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the Tulsa Cup, hosted by Rogers State University. The tournament took place at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, a par-72 venue. The Tigers finished 18th&nbsp;as a team. Fort Hays State shot 298 as a team in the opening round, its lowest score of the three rounds. The Tigers went on to shoot 300 in the second round and 306 in the third round, finishing with a total of 904. Scoring conditions were superb as Rogers State won the tournament with a blistering team score of 17-under par over the three rounds (847). Central Missouri shot 14-under as a team (850) and Henderson State shot 10-under (854). The rest of the team field produced totals over par. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6451">Bryce Cowan</a>&nbsp;had the best round by a Tiger individual out of the gate, shooting a 3-under par 69 in the opening round. Trailing for the first time with 3:04 to go in the game, Fuller helped march the Tigers 75 yards down the field to score the winning touchdown with 26 seconds remaining. He threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6202">Hayden Wiltfong</a>&nbsp;to cap the drive. On the drive, he connected with&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6171">Josh Okechukwu</a>&nbsp;four consecutive times for 56 yards to get the Tigers down to the UCM 7. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Ryan Tannehill threw for 270 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for a score and the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/TEN/tennessee-titans/">Tennessee Titans</a>&nbsp;routed the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/KC/kansas-city-chiefs/">Kansas City Chiefs</a>&nbsp;27-3 Sunday for their fifth win in six games.

This also was the second victory in six days for the Titans (5-2) over teams that played for the AFC championship in January.

They edged Buffalo 34-31 on Monday night and followed that by simply dominating the two-time defending AFC champs as Tennessee jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead.

The Chiefs (3-4) have lost two of three and dropped to 1-4 in the AFC this season. They also were held to their fewest points since a 38-3 loss to Denver on Dec. 30, 2012.

This was the first time Patrick Mahomes had trailed by 27 at halftime and the third-largest halftime deficit for the Chiefs since 1991. It was the worst since the Chiefs trailed Pittsburgh 29-0 at the half on Oct. 2, 2016, and only the eighth time in franchise history that Kansas City had trailed by 27 or more at the half.

The Titans forced three turnovers - two by Mahomes - that they turned into 10 points. Denico Autry had two of the Titans' four sacks.

Mahomes was slow to get up after taking a knee to his head on the fourth sack by Autry. He went to the medical tent and didn't return with Chad Henne replacing him late. He finished with 206 yards passing and 35 yards rushing.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Mahomes cleared the concussion protocols and will play Nov. 1 against the Giants. But Reid chose not to put Mahomes back in for the Chiefs' final drive. Mahomes said he felt fine.

''You get hit pretty hard, sometimes you just want to lay there,'' Mahomes said. ''Plus it was fourth down. ... It was a disappointing day and disappointing way it ended.''

Kansas City won the toss and deferred. The Titans didn't look back despite three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan sitting out with a concussion.

The Titans went up-tempo with Tannehill spreading the ball around to 2020 Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown and seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones. Derrick Henry, the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl">NFL</a>'s rushing leader, finished the drive out of the wildcat, throwing a 5-yard pass to tight end MyCole Pruitt for the 7-0 lead.

Outside linebacker Bud Dupree, Tennessee's biggest free agent signee, got his first sack this season to end the Chiefs' opening drive.

Tannehill drove the Titans 97 yards on the ensuing drive, highlighted by a 46-yard throw to Brown initially ruled an incompletion. Titans coach Mike Vrabel won his challenge, and Tannehill finished the drive with a 24-yard TD pass to Brown, who had been dealing with food poisoning all week.

After linebacker Rashaan Evans' interception, Tannehill ran for a 2-yard TD and a 24-0 lead. Randy Bullock added his second field goal off Mahomes' fumble for the 27-0 lead.

Mahomes has been intercepted in six straight games, the longest stretch of his career. He had 11 interceptions combined over 2019 and 2020 and has nine this season. His fumble with 1:46 left in the first half was his second this season, giving him 11 turnovers for the season.

That's the most Mahomes has ever had in a single season even counting the playoffs. He had only nine in 17 games in 2019 and 10 in 18 games in 2020.

Henry's TD pass made him the second NFL player in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl/">Super Bowl</a>&nbsp;era to run for at least 10 TDs and throw a TD pass in his team's first seven games. LaDainian Tomlinson was the first in 2005.

The running back's first career TD pass came in a divisional playoff win over Baltimore in January 2020.

Titans left guard Roger Saffold hurt a thigh muscle in the first half but returned. Kendall Lamm, who started in Lewan's place, hurt an ankle in the first half and didn't return. He was replaced by Bobby Hart, signed Wednesday off Buffalo's practice squad.

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored midway through the second half and held on for the win. The Tigers improved to 6-7-3 overall and 3-6 in the MIAA, while the RiverHawks fell to 7-6-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. The first half was quiet for both teams with only nine combined shots. After returning from halftime scoreless, the Tigers went to work. The lone Tiger score came from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6225">Amanda Rapaduski</a>&nbsp;as she created some space on the right side of the box and bent the ball nicely to the upper left corner of the net for her fifth goal of the season. The RiverHawks more than doubled the Tigers in shots, 12-5, but the Tigers put four of the five on target. The Tigers started fast with a 14-0 lead, only to see the Mules score 17 unanswered points in the second half to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Tigers started their final drive with 3:04 remaining and scored the game-winning touchdown with 26 seconds remaining. FHSU is now 4-4 on the season, while UCM drops to 2-6. After both teams punted on their first drives, Fort Hays State got its offense going with back-to-back touchdown drives. The Tigers' first score came on a 33-yard touchdown pass from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6197">Voshon Waiters</a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6130">Hunter Budke</a>. The Tigers could not stop the UCM momentum on their next drive and had to punt the ball away again. UCM then drove 69 yards on 10 plays to set up a 26-yard field goal by Chris Diddle, taking the lead 17-14 with 3:04 to play.

The FHSU wrestling team kicked off the 2021-22 season with the annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Saturday night (Oct. 23) with 19 matches. The scrimmage was constructed of two rounds, where the second round consisted of matchups between the winners and losers of the previous round and matches against pre-determined opponents. The Gold team held on to its lead from the very beginning, ending in a narrow one-point margin of 41-40. SYLVAN – The Victoria volleyball team is headed to the 1A
Division I State Tournament. The Knights went 2-0 Saturday to win the
Sylvan-Lucas Sub-State. After receiving a first round bye, the top-seeded
Knights defeated Lincoln 25-12, 25-16 in the semifinals then knocked off Ness City
25-19, 23-25, 25-10 in the finals.

Victoria improves to 29-5 on the season. They will begin
pool play at the 1A Division I State Tournament sometime Friday at Dodge City’s
United Wireless Arena.

GREAT BEND - The Hays High girls' cross country qualified for the 5A state meet Saturday after a third-place finish at the Great Bend regional.

The Indians were led by Arely Maldanado who finished 12th with a time of 20:52.

The Indian boys placed sixth and were led by Leo Hernandez to placed 22nd. Leo Hernandez placed 22nd but was the seventh place finisher among the non-qualifying teams to advance as an individual.

of Saturday’s 3A Russell Sub-State volleyball tournament but lost to Beloit, coming
up short in their effort to get to the state tournament.

The second-seeded Monarchs swept Russell 25-14, 25-14 in the
first round then defeated Phillipsburg 25-20, 25-11 in the semifinals. The
top-seeded Trojans, who defeated the Monarchs in the season opener for both
back in late August, won 25-13, 25-19.

The Monarchs end their season with a 28-11 record.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP)&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/KSTATE/kansas-state-wildcats/">Kansas State</a>&nbsp;didn't change much at halftime despite trailing&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/teams/TXTECH/texas-tech-red-raiders/">Texas Tech</a>&nbsp;by two touchdowns.

The outcome wasn't much different from recent seasons either - a sixth straight victory in the series for the Wildcats, who ended their longest Big 12 skid since joining the league in 1996.

Skylar Thompson passed for 296 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter and Kansas State came up with sacks on the final two plays by the Red Raiders in a 25-24 victory Saturday.

''We didn't change that many calls; we just played them better,'' said Kansas State's Chris Klieman, who is 3-0 against Matt Wells of Texas Tech in a matchup of coaches who joined the conference together in 2019.

''It was a very simple game plan. We told the guys we were going to keep the game plan really simple so they could play fast. In the first half we played fast and made mistakes ... and in the second half we kept it pretty simple, played faster and made plays.''

Thompson's 22-yard TD pass to Deuce Vaughn with just over six minutes left helped the Wildcats (4-3, 1-3 Big 12) rally from a 24-10 halftime deficit with a second-half shutout that stopped an eight-game conference losing streak going back to last year.

The Red Raiders (5-3, 2-3) reached K-State's 46-yard line with three minutes to go. But the Wildcats responded when Felix Anudike-Uzomah sacked Henry Colombi for a 6-yard loss and Nate Matlack dropped the Texas Tech quarterback from behind on fourth-and-16.

The decisive drive for Kansas State was kepth alive when Texas Tech's Devin Drew was flagged for a hands-to-the-face penalty that gave the Wildcats an automatic first down on third-and-34. Thompson responded with four consecutive completions, the last to Vaughn with 6:09 remaining.

''The thing that hurt us was late in the game when we got the untimely penalties,'' Wells said. ''The hands-to-the face - that's the one that really hurt.''

The Red Raiders were also flagged for holding infractions on each of their final two series.

Kansas State climbed back into the game with a third-quarter safety and touchdown following the free kick.

Anudike-Uzomah stuffed SaRodorick Thompson for a 4-yard loss in the end zone to close a two-touchdown halftime deficit to 24-12. Malik Knowles had a 31-yard return on the free kick and the Wildcats drove 69 yards to pull within 24-19 on Vaughn's second rushing TD, a 2-yard burst on fourth-and-1.

Tech Tech stunned the Wildcats early, scoring after just two offensive snaps - both running plays by receivers - and recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff.

Erik Ezukanma put the Red Raiders up when he took a jet sweep handoff and dashed 45 yards. Tyrique Matthews smothered Malik Knowles' fumble on the kickoff and Texas Tech took possession at the 23-yard-line.

Sticking mostly to the ground, the Red Raiders drove the short distance and made it 14-0 when Thompson ducked into the end zone on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard-line.

''We did what we wanted: Got right out of the gate and started fast,'' Wells said. ''We played good ball the rest of the half.''

Kansas State: Vaughn fell short of 100 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive game after hitting triple digits in each of the first three games. But his impact was significant. He had 120 scrimmage yards (52 rushing, 68 receiving) and three TDs.

Texas Tech: The Red Raiders led by 14 points three different times while trying to win consecutive Big 12 games for the first time under Wells. Now they're still a win shy of bowl eligibility, and there's a good chance at least three of their remaining four opponents will be ranked.

The Wildcats outgained Texas Tech 220-102 after halftime and didn't allow the Red Raiders to convert a third down. K-State's last three complete possessions covered 69 yards (TD), 71 yards (lost fumble) and 66 yards (TD).

''We sort of just settled in on defense, and that was important because you can't play defense frantically,'' Klieman said. ''We settled in and played good team defense, and that's what you have to do.''

Texas Tech: at No. 3 Oklahoma next Saturday. The Red Raiders have lost four in a row in Norman, the past three by an average score of 55-24.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Facing a far tougher test than expected against Kansas, Caleb Williams bailed out No. 3 Oklahoma with quick feet and quick thinking.

The freshman converted two crucial fourth downs in the fourth quarter, one with a 40-yard touchdown run, and Oklahoma rallied to avoid an enormous upset and beat Kansas 35-23 Saturday,

The Sooners (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) trailed by double figures on two occasions — including 10-0 at the half —- but outscored the Jayhawks 35-13 in the second half to win their 16th straight game.

“I’m excited for the win, but we played poor football in the first half,” Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said. “We couldn’t get Kansas off the field and missed several opportunities. I give our team credit for rising up. Kansas deserves a lot of credit, and they did a few things that gave us trouble.”

Jason Bean passed for 246 yards and a score for Kansas (1-6, 0-4), which led 17-7 late in the third quarter.

A 66-yard run by Trevon West sparked the Oklahoma offense, and two plays later Williams tossed a short TD pass to cut the lead to 17-14 in the third quarter.

Kansas was able to stay in the game because of the legs of Devin Neal, who ran for 100 and a pair of touchdowns. Kansas didn’t punt until the fourth quarter.

“I’m proud of our guys and the way the first half especially went,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. “We were able to mix some things together and keep their explosive offense off the field.”

In his second start, Williams threw for 178 yards and two scores and ran for 70 yards.

Williams used a sharp cut to avoid two tacklers on a fourth-and-3 and then raced the distance for a 40-yard score to make it 28-17 midway through the fourth quarter.

After KU cut it to 28-23, Oklahoma faced a fourth-and-1 near midfield. Kennedy Brooks looked as if he would be stopped short of the line to gain, but Williams took the ball from the back.

“I saw Caleb so I gave it to him,” Brooks said. “I knew it would be close if I was behind the line of scrimmage and I was happy Caleb ran for a first down.”

Williams scampered 5 yards to keep alive what turned out to be the sealing touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter.

“That was just a really smart play by both of those guys,” Riley said. “We talk about situations like that, but I can’t take credit because that’s all Caleb and Kennedy.”

“We can finish with the best of them, but we don’t play our best early in the game so we need to keep battling that,” Riley said. “It’s time for us to start closing the gaps and playing more consistently.”

Oklahoma has scored 30 or more points in 35 consecutive road games, the longest such streak since at least 1980.

Oklahoma: The Sooners were probably fortunate to be playing Kansas because this was their worst performance of the season.

boys race along with Tate Roland of Ellis who placed 21st but was 10th among
the runners from non-qualifying schools.

regional to qualify as a team. The Ness City girls placed third.
