KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team placed 16 student-athletes on the 2021-22 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Thursday (June 1) by the conference headquarters.
In addition to collecting his third Academic Honor Roll recognition, Grant Schmidt also received his second-straight MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award. Others listed on the Academic Honor Roll for a third time included Zach Berg, Griffin Brunson, Jacob Callaway, Jake Campbell, Jacob Ensz, Dylan Hamilton, Tanner Lukowski, Jason Robertson, Ridge Stephens, Kade Wallace and Jaxson Webb. Dylan Hupfer, Dustin Menard, Ed Scott and Jaedyn Traut all received the distinction for the second time.
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. Transfers and true freshman are recognized at the conclusion of the school year, after they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
