Robert Russell “Russ” Clark, 96, Hays, died Monday, December 14, 2020, at HaysMed.

He was born June 17, 1924, in Ness City,
 the son of John Kelly and Blanche (McClure) Clark.&nbsp; Russ was raised on a
 farm in Ness County and as a young man, about 12 years old, delivered 
newspapers on his pony Spunky.&nbsp; During high school he worked at Baer and
 Kohl Pharmacy and Stevenson’s Menswear.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Ness City
 High School in 1943 and later attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; During
 WWII, he served in the United States Navy on the destroyer escort USS 
Farquhar in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.&nbsp; 

On July 22, 1950, he 
was united in marriage to Dora Lou Lamer at St. Michael’s Episcopal 
Church in Hays with her brother, Rev. H.B. Lamer, Jr. officiating.&nbsp; They
 celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage before she preceded him in death
 on June 23, 2018.&nbsp; From 1950 until 1962 he worked at the Lamer Hotel 
and beginning in 1963 was co-owner of The Village Shop, where he worked 
until his retirement in 1990.&nbsp; His memberships included St. Michael’s 
Episcopal Church, Hays American Legion Post #173, Hays VFW Post #9076, 
ISIS Temple in Salina, Sigma Phi Epsilon at Kansas State University, and
 a charter member of Smoky Hill Country Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include three sons: Steven 
Clark of Brooklyn, NY, Patrick Clark of Overland Park, KS and Robert 
Clark and wife LaiLing of Brooklyn, NY, three daughters: Lynn Burke and 
husband Michael of Galveston, TX, Cindy Maddux of Randolph, KS and Sara 
Clark of Port Orford, OR, and five grandchildren: Russell Maddux, Dora 
Leigh Maddux, Ava Clark, Meredith Clark, and Lola Clark.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife Dora Lou, three brothers: Pat, Franklin, and Charles 
Clark and four sisters: Cleo Vogel, Cloyd Clark, Lydia Funk, and Jeanne 
Cardon.

A private family funeral service and 
inurnment will be on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Kansas Veterans’ 
Cemetery in WaKeeney.&nbsp;

Episcopal Church or to Shriners Hospitals for Children for the Pediatric

Curtis Gene Stephens, third child of Joe A. and Darline (Wagy) Stephens,
 was born at Oakley, KS, on September 17, 1959. After graduating from 
Oakley High School he attended Northwest KS Vo-Tech, earning a degree in
 Farm and Diesel Mechanics. Curtis returned to live his life in the 
Monument, KS community. Curtis’s life career and passion was as a Farmer
 of the land. On December 14, 2020, at the age of 61, Curtis passed away
 of natural causes, at his home. 
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents. 
He is survived by his brother Dan (Rita) Stephens, St. Francis, KS; 
sister Jolene (Brendan) Carlin, Downs, KS; nieces and nephews, Erin

Curtis Gene Stephens

Jenny Lynn Allford, 87, passed away December 14, 2020, at Brookdale 
Senior Living, Great Bend, Kan.&nbsp; She was born June 21, 1933, at Thrifty,
 Texas, to Raymond and Lynna Jo (Pearson) Rucker. &nbsp;Jenny married Robert 
L. Allford June 3, 1955, at Kermit, Texas.&nbsp; He died Nov. 28, 2016.

Jenny graduated from Kermit High School, Kermit, Texas, in 1949. She 
attended East Texas State University from 1949-1951, and transferred to 
Texas Technological University where she received her Bachelor of Music 
Education degree in 1953.

Jenny, a resident of Great Bend since 1969, was a long time vocal 
music instructor for USD 428 and area musician.&nbsp; She began her teaching 
career in 1953 in Plainview, Texas, as a junior high choral music 
instructor. She moved to the high school the following year and 
continued teaching in Texas until 1969. In 1969, Jenny accepted the 
vocal music position at Roosevelt Junior High School in Great Bend. She 
taught at Roosevelt until 1978, and then moved to Great Bend High 
School, where she continued to teach vocal music for 16 years, until her
 retirement in 1994.&nbsp;

Jenny was a current member of First Christian Church, previously 
holding membership at First United Methodist Church, serving as Director
 of the Chancel Choir and Chancel Choir accompanist. She had also been 
the accompanist for the Barton County Choral Society, Lyric Singers 
Community Chorus, Great Bend Community Theater and Barton County 
Community Choir.&nbsp; Professionally, Jenny was a member of KMEA, NEA, MENC,
 American Choral Directors Association, former board member of Barton 
County Young Men’s Association, 2010 Class of GBHS Hall of Fame., KMEA 
District 5 Chairman and State Choral Chairman and former officer of 
Texas MEA.

Survivors include her two sons, Allan Allford and wife Debbie of 
Scottsdale, Ariz. And Evan Allford and wife Karla of Edmond, Okla.; 
three grandchildren, Ben Allford, Josh Allford and his wife Lauren, and 
Abby Holley and husband Rob; and one great grandchild, Molly Allford.&nbsp; 
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Bob, and one brother, Joe 
Rucker.

Public visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, 
Dec. 16, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. Private family graveside 
services, with Rev. Joshua Leu presiding, will be held at Great Bend

LeRoy P. Werth, age 79, of Hays, Kansas passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1940, in rural Ellis County, Kansas to Wendelin William and Brigitta (Dinges) Werth. He graduated from Schoenchen High School in 1958. On May 25, 1962, he married Christina Franz in Germany. LeRoy was a lifelong farmer in Ellis County. He was a very active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen. He served on the church committee, choir, and a eucharistic minister. He was also a 3rd degree Schoenchen Council Knights of Columbus member. He enjoyed fishing and taking walks with his grandchildren. LeRoy was a US Army veteran as well. He is survived by his wife, Christina of the home; two sons, LeRoy Werth (Joann) of Hays and Eric Werth of Schoenchen; two daughters, Sonya Peters of Lincoln, Nebraska and Michaela Werth of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Linus Werth of Victoria and Paul Werth of Great Bend; three sisters, Laura Klaus of Hays, Clarice Stoecklein of Ness City and Dorothy Moeder of Hays; 10 grandchildren, Ericka, Ashley, Peyton, Gavin, Michael, Seth, Spencer, Sierra, Jessica and Nathaniel, 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. LeRoy P. Werth

Yvonne Irene (Meis) Rodriguez, 77, Hays, died Saturday, December 12, 2020, at HaysMed.

She was born September 12, 1943, in 
Russell, the daughter of Servillian “Bill” and Irene (Weigel) Meis. In 
1961, Yvonne graduated from Girls Catholic High School, while also 
working at the Lamer Hotel as an elevator operator, then later moved to 
Chicago and worked for Time Warner Inc. Yvonne married Raul “Rudy” 
Rodriguez, and they later divorced. After moving back to Hays, she 
worked for KAYS and Eagle Communications for 43 years. Her memberships 
included St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Fidelis Daughters of 
Isabella Circle #364. 

She had a loving and generous spirit and an 
unforgettable laugh that everyone adored. Yvonne loved dancing, oldies 
music from the 50s and 60s, and Elvis songs.

Survivors include her son Peter 
Rodriguez of Hays, two brothers: Fr. Peter Meis, O.F.M. Cap. of Papua 
New Guinea and Mike Meis of Catharine, five sisters: Sr. Mary Rose Meis,
 C.S.A. of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Sr. Marise Meis, C.S.A. of Nicaragua,
 Gerri Henning and husband Richard of Pratt, Kathy Plank and husband 
Jeff of Shelby Township, MI, and Christine Hadley of Hays, and numerous 
nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law Angela Rodriguez.

Cremation has taken place. Because of 
the challenges the world is facing at the present time, a memorial 
service and inurnment in St. Catherine Cemetery will be held in the 
future and announced at a later date.

Yvonne Irene (Meis) Rodriguez

Karlene
 Jo Konovalsky was born on July 2, 1950, the 4th daughter of Alfred and 
Elvie (Monson) Konovalsky.&nbsp; Karlene could never imagine growing up 
somewhere other than “the farm.”&nbsp; She loved working in the fields and 
caring for livestock on the farm.&nbsp; It provided her with great memories.

She
 graduated from Courtland High School, Courtland, KS in 1968 and from 
Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS in 1972.&nbsp; Her first job after college was
 at the Sheridan County Hospital, Hoxie, KS.&nbsp; It was in Hoxie that she 
met Charles (Chuck) Buechman and they were married on May 31, 1975.&nbsp; 
They had two sons, Andy and Randy.&nbsp; They moved to Larned, KS in 1992 and
 she worked at the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility for the 
next 23+ years, retiring in 2015.&nbsp; After her retirement they moved to 
Schowalter Villa, Hesston, KS.

Two
 organizations she felt passionate about were donating blood to the 
American Red Cross and supporting KETCH (Kansas Elks Training Center for
 the Handicapped).&nbsp; Her blood donations were in excess of 20-gallons.&nbsp; 
She would be first in line to support activities sponsored by KETCH.

She
 attended the Hesston United Methodist Church.&nbsp; She was a 50-year member
 of the Order of the Eastern Star holding many offices and gaining many 
friends during those years.&nbsp; She was a willing worker alongside Chuck in
 his work with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.&nbsp; The Kansas 
Elks Training Center for the Handicapped (KETCH) held a special place in
 her heart.&nbsp; They have been willing volunteers with the Elks Hoop Shoot 
(Free Throw Contest) Program, even having the opportunity to assist with

following them in their activities, mostly football, wrestling and

learned to drive stick shift at an early age!

Grandchildren are the best!&nbsp; Memories of their activities and antics were priceless.&nbsp; She loved them all so much.

just northwest of Kackley, KS on Monday, December 21, 2020,&nbsp;at 11:00 am.
 A short public graveside service will be held, persons attending the 
service are requested to wear masks or other facial coverings, and to 
practice social distancing.&nbsp;

 lieu of flowers, Karlene requested memorials to the Kansas Elks 
Training Center for the Handicapped or to the Hesston United Methodist

 Jo Konovalsky was born on July 2, 1950, the 4th daughter of Alfred and 
Elvie (Monson) Konovalsky.&nbsp; Karlene could never imagine growing up 
somewhere other than “the farm.”&nbsp; She loved working in the fields and 
caring for livestock on the farm.&nbsp; It provided her with great memories.She
 graduated from Courtland High School, Courtland, KS in 1968 and from 
Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS in 1972.&nbsp; Her first job after college was
 at the Sheridan County Hospital, Hoxie, KS.&nbsp; It was in Hoxie that she 
met Charles (Chuck) Buechman and they were married on May 31, 1975.&nbsp; 
They had two sons, Andy and Randy.&nbsp; They moved to Larned, KS in 1992 and
 she worked at the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility for the 
next 23+ years, retiring in 2015.&nbsp; After her retirement they moved to 
Schowalter Villa, Hesston, KS.Two
 organizations she felt passionate about were donating blood to the 
American Red Cross and supporting KETCH (Kansas Elks Training Center for
 the Handicapped).&nbsp; Her blood donations were in excess of 20-gallons.&nbsp; 
She would be first in line to support activities sponsored by KETCH.She
 attended the Hesston United Methodist Church.&nbsp; She was a 50-year member
 of the Order of the Eastern Star holding many offices and gaining many 
friends during those years.&nbsp; She was a willing worker alongside Chuck in
 his work with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.&nbsp; The Kansas 
Elks Training Center for the Handicapped (KETCH) held a special place in
 her heart.&nbsp; They have been willing volunteers with the Elks Hoop Shoot 
(Free Throw Contest) Program, even having the opportunity to assist with
 the 4-State Regional Program for 20 years.Andy

Robert L. 'Bob' Dinkel

Owen Harold Dixon, 76, passed away December 13, 2020, at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born June 17, 1944, in Hoisington, the sone of Owen Henry and Rilla Sawyer Dixon.

A longtime area resident he was of the Christian faith. He was a 
psychologist and worked for Larned State Hospital for 34 years and 
Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility for 10 years. He was a past 
member and president of USD 495 school board, member of the Sunrise 
board, a member and past president of Larned Country Club, and loved 
traveling, gambling and golfing.

On March 2, 1968 he married Janet Adams at Lewis; she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Mike Dixon, Dallas, Texas; a 
daughter, Stacee Odom, St. Clair, Missouri; a sister, Verna Dixon, 
Portland, Oregon; and two brothers, David Dixon, Ellinwood, and Jim 
Dixon, Pittsburg, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ona Barnes.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2020, at 
Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor Bill Stapleton presiding.

Patricia Ann McMillan, 71, passed away December 13, 2020 at her home in Larned.

She was born May 8, 1949 in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Harold and Margaret Dodge Hogan.

Moving from Massachusetts, she was an area resident for a year and a 
half. She was an LPN and was of the Episcopal faith. She was a past 
president of the Eagles Auxiliary in Puyallup, Washington, loved 
history, reading, site seeing, road trips, gardening, her kids, and her 
grandkids.

She married James McMillan in Michigan; he preceded her in death on March 29, 2015.

Survivors include: two daughters, Heather Jamieson, Larned, Jessica 
(Ray) Shirley, Spring Hill, Florida; four sons, James (Lisa) McMillan, 
Brady, Texas, Sean McMillan, Tennessee, Harold (Bella) McMillan, Larned,
 David (Mila) McMillan, Philippines; eight grandchildren, Megan 
Jamieson, Loren Jamieson, Brayden McMillan, CJ Violango, Harold McMillan
 Jr., Michela Shirley, Avery McMillan, and Aiden McMillan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

Phillipsburg resident Wanda S. Smith passed away December 8, 2020, at the Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina, KS at the age of 78.

She was born December 25, 1941, in Phillipsburg, KS the daughter of Robert D. and Marie (Knox) Wise.&nbsp; Wanda graduated from 8th Grade in Phillipsburg, KS then stayed home to take care of her dying mother.

Wanda met and married Johnny Smith on June 14, 1956, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.&nbsp; To this union three daughters were born:&nbsp; Sheila, Teresa, and Robin.

She worked various jobs throughout her life time.&nbsp; She worked many years at Martha's Cafe and talked kindly of her job there and the people she worked with until her later years in life.&nbsp; She also worked as a CNA at the Phillips County Long Term Care for many years. &nbsp;She loved her residents, especially one, her Daddy and her co workers. She was asked several times by family members to fix their loved ones hair, etc. after they had passed as they always liked how she did it.&nbsp; She retired as cook for the Phillips County Hospital in 2006. &nbsp;She was a great cook and was asked by many for a pan of her famous bierocks or cinnamon rolls.

Wanda was a genuinely compassionate person.&nbsp; She loved her family with all that she was.&nbsp; There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for anyone.&nbsp; Her grandkids were her pride and joy.&nbsp; She loved each and every one of them. They were all very special to her.&nbsp; She loved animals especially her dogs.&nbsp; They were her baby and very spoiled to say the least. She loved people and always enjoyed joking around with them. She loved to plant flowers in the spring and enjoyed her beautiful yard and took pride in the care of her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert &amp; Marie Wise, her in laws Lonnie &amp; Beryl Smith, brothers Buck, Norman, Bill, and Bobby Wise; sisters Maxine Wise and Linda Nuttycomb, nephew Ronnie Wise, granddaughter Chassidy Widener, and son in law Larri Lewis.&nbsp; Wanda was followed home closely that day by her daughter Sheila Widener.

Terril Dee McBride, 75, went to meet his Lord and Savior, December 12, 2020, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was Born February 10, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas, and grew up in 
an old farm house between Fellsburg and Centerview, Kansas. He was the 
son of M. Earl McBride and Fern (Myers) McBride. He was a Medical 
Administrator for a group of Doctors for Medical Radiology in Chickasha,
 Ok and surrounding cities.

Terril graduated from Lewis high school in 1963. He had a 
Southwestern College Scholarship to play football in Winfield, Kansas. 
While in College he was All Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Half 
Back in Football. He received his Masters Degree from Kansas State 
University and continued his doctorate studies at Oklahoma University, 
Go Sooners! Terril married his high school sweetheart Christina McLean 
on February 11, 1967 in Lewis, Kansas and they had been married for 53 
years. He served in the Army medical field San Antonio hospital second 
lieutenant and later made Captain in the Army Reserve. He a was member 
of Masonic Chickasha Lodge #94, A.F.&amp;A.M.&nbsp; he also was a Thirty 
Second degree Scottish Rite Mason of Guthrie Consistory. He spent a year
 as the National President of Radiologist Business Managers Association.
 He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Terril 
was instrumental in organizing, fundraising and helping to facilitate AU
 tournaments for baseball all throughout Chickasha and the surrounding 
cities. His biggest accomplishment was the L.J. Powell Baseball Complex 
at the Chickasha High School. In retirement you would often find Terril 
taking trips to the post office, golfing, hunting, traveling to visit 
his children, grandchildren, friends and he loved coming back home to 
Kansas and was always ready to help with harvest every year. He enjoyed 
his winters in Mesa Arizona where he spent time as Mayor of S street. He
 was a devoted husband and brother, a very dedicated and present father 
who doted on his grandchildren and daughters in law. There was not one 
thing you could ask of him that he wouldn’t do for his family. He was a 
great friend, a beloved son-in-law, son and brother. He will be 
remembered for his laughter, smiles, kindness, intelligence, and 
friendship. His daily calls to his sons will be missed immeasurably. He 
was their best friend, their guide, their compass. He was the biggest 
champion to all that knew him. He was the Best Papa in the whole world! 
He loved his family fiercely!

Survivors include his loving wife, Christina, two sons, Kip (Noelle) 
McBride, Reading Pennsylvania, Kyle (Nicole) McBride, San Diego, 
California; Five Grandchildren, Weston McBride, Autumn McBride, Logan 
McBride, Hunter McBride and Tristan Barnett; One best friend and sister,
 Bonita McBride, Larned, Kansas; two cousins, Paula K. Peppard and Jay 
O’Conner; lastly his adored niece, nephews and great nieces and nephew.

Predeceased by his parents M. Earl McBride and Fern McBride.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, at
 the United Methodist Church, Lewis, Kansas with Rev. Melissa Naylor 
presiding.&nbsp; Service will be viewable via facebook live at

 </figure>Terril Dee McBride, 75, went to meet his Lord and Savior, December 12, 2020, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.He was Born February 10, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas, and grew up in 
an old farm house between Fellsburg and Centerview, Kansas. He was the 
son of M. Earl McBride and Fern (Myers) McBride. He was a Medical 
Administrator for a group of Doctors for Medical Radiology in Chickasha,
 Ok and surrounding cities.Terril graduated from Lewis high school in 1963. He had a 
Southwestern College Scholarship to play football in Winfield, Kansas. 
While in College he was All Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Half 
Back in Football. He received his Masters Degree from Kansas State 
University and continued his doctorate studies at Oklahoma University, 
Go Sooners! Terril married his high school sweetheart Christina McLean 
on February 11, 1967 in Lewis, Kansas and they had been married for 53 
years. He served in the Army medical field San Antonio hospital second 
lieutenant and later made Captain in the Army Reserve. He a was member 
of Masonic Chickasha Lodge #94, A.F.&amp;A.M.&nbsp; he also was a Thirty 
Second degree Scottish Rite Mason of Guthrie Consistory. He spent a year
 as the National President of Radiologist Business Managers Association.
 He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Terril 
was instrumental in organizing, fundraising and helping to facilitate AU
 tournaments for baseball all throughout Chickasha and the surrounding 
cities. His biggest accomplishment was the L.J. Powell Baseball Complex 
at the Chickasha High School. In retirement you would often find Terril 
taking trips to the post office, golfing, hunting, traveling to visit 
his children, grandchildren, friends and he loved coming back home to 
Kansas and was always ready to help with harvest every year. He enjoyed

Terril Dee McBride

Merna Loraine Hays, 91, of 
Abilene, died December 10, 2020, in Abilene, KS. Mrs.Hays was born April 
12, 1929, in Osborne, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Lena (William) 
Roach. She married Willis Hays in July 1947 and focused on raising a 
family. Merna worked as head operator and bookkeeper at the Farmers 
Mutual Telephone Company in Gaylord. She then worked at Anderson Grain 
in Harlan. She completed her work career after 22 years with the 
Kirwin-Webster Irrigation District Office in Gaylord, retiring in 1994.


Merna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willis, and 
two grandchildren, Jon Louis Bigler and Carl Dean Ruhnke. Survivors 
include one son, Kevin Hays; two daughters, Katherine and Louis Bigler, 
Susan and Jim Ruhnke; seven grandchildren, Moriah and Keith Graff, Jamie
 Bigler, Jessie and Jake Lanahan, Sean and Brandee Bigler, and Cade, 
Keegan and Konon Hays; and five greatgrandchildren, Kaitlynn and Kylie 
Bigler, Joshua Lanahan, Chloe Ruhnke, and Alisha Graff.


Merna believed in Jesus under the preaching of Thomas Easterly at
 the Mayflower E.U.B. Church, rural Portis, where she became a member. 
She is presently a member of the Gaylord Nazarene Church. She graduated 
from Gaylord High School Class and was Valedictorian of the Class of 
1947. In 1978 she studied and received her Geriatric Aide Certification 
from North Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical School.


Merna and Willie enjoyed vacationing in the Ozarks and were even 
featured as Season Pass Holders in a Silver Dollar City Brochure. She 
also enjoyed researching genealogy and the recipe for "faustnuts" a 
Pennsylvania Dutch doughnut tradition on Shrove Tuesday was published in
 the Heartland Herald-Echo. She kept this tradition until she was no 
longer able to make them. She was an excellent seamstress, making many 
matching outfits for her family and also sewing for others. She became a
 master at crocheting, a proficient photographer, gardening and food 
preservation, and playing the dulcimer.


Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 1:00 pm 
Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in the Gaylord Cemetery, Gaylord, Ks. 
Visitation will be at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina where friends may call 
from 4 until 8 pm Tuesday.


Memorials may be made to the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene or the charity of the donor's choice in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Donald W. "Donny" Green, age 69, passed away on Friday, December 11, 
2020, at Scott County Hospital.&nbsp; He was born on September 29, 1951, in 
Jacksonville, NC, he was the son of Marvin and Royann (Yount) Green.

Donny lived most of his life in Garden City. Then moved to Scott City
 in 2012 to be close to his mother and brother. He graduated from Garden
 City High School.

Donny loved to fish, play pool and card games and listen to music. 
But his favorite pastime was spending time laughing, joking, and being 
with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Royann Green, of Scott City, KS; a 
sister, Loretta Alfrey of Denver, CO; a brother, Everett (Kristi) Green 
of Scott City, KS, three nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death 
by his father.

There will be no calling times. Private burial services will be held 
at Scott County Cemetery. A Celebration of Donny’s Life for family and 
friends will be scheduled for a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Donald Green Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home.

Cole was born on October 18, 2001, in Topeka, KS.&nbsp; At age 3, he moved to Phillipsburg where he graduated from high school this past May.&nbsp; He then attended Kansas State University and was majoring in Computer Science.&nbsp; Cole’s passions included drawing, playing the tuba in the high school band and computer coding.&nbsp;

Cole is survived by his loving parents Robert L. Wenzl and wife Tina of Manhattan, KS and Stacie A. Ricker and husband Rus of Phillipsburg, KS along with his sisters Cara and Ella Wenzl of Phillipsburg; step brothers Gunnison Ricker of Hays and Greyson Tanner of Wichita; step sisters, August Ricker of Plainville and Shelby Tanner of Kearney, NE; and grandmother Betty Wenzl of Seneca, KS, grandparents Karen and Gene Matia of Littleton, CO, step grandmother Sharon Ricker of Beulah, CO and grandfather Duane Nokes of Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Huck Boyd Community Center, Phillipsburg. Nicolas 'Cole' Wenzl 

Carolyn Annette (Beckwith) Murphy, 83, passed away December 5, 2020, in Rockwall, Texas. She was born March 24, 1937, the daughter of Carrol K. and Hazel C. Smith Beckwith.

Carolyn never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. 
Twice she somehow came home with an infant to babysit after meeting the 
parents for only a few minutes. Carolyn always looked after strays, both
 2-legged and 4-legged. She cared for others, even though her life was 
had many challenges. She had cancer for over 40 years, and each time
 it cropped back up, she fought back with determination and grace. She 
was a very strong woman with a heart for others. She raised 4 teenagers 
of her own and “mom” to dozens of others. She insisted her 10 grandkids 
call her “Granny M.” Which meant the kids of all her adopted children 
did too. Granny M spoiled all those who recognized her title. Her love 
lives on through the hearts of all the people she touched in her life. 
At the end of her life, she suffered from dementia. At different times, 
she saw her son as her pappa, husband, brother, and son. Whomever, she 
was speaking to at the time, she would grasp his hand, pull him close 
and whisper, “get me out of here; I want to go home.” Well, she is 
certainly home now. Her family is thankful she is out of pain and giving
 all of those family members who proceeded her a loving hug and any help
 they need.

A longtime Wichita resident, she operated a business as a driving 
instructor. She was a member of Central Christian Church and the 
American Medical Association Women’s Division. She was a grassroots 
member of AYSO, a youth soccer coach and referee, campfire girl’s 
leader, church youth director, and PTA member. Her grandchildren 
attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School in Wichita. Even though 
she wasn’t a member, she was there each Sunday helping with Sunday 
School.

She is survived by her children: Jodee (Scott) Pike, Tim (Shari) 
Murphy, Cheryl Murphy, Karen (Mark) McCubbin; her siblings: J. Keith 
(Oleta) Beckwith, Kim (Cheryl) Beckwith, Kevin (Suzanne) Beckwith, Kathy
 Jo (Keith) Johnson; her grandchildren: Jonathan Pike, Matthew (Jordyn) 
Pike, Daniel Pike, Deborah Murphy, Andrew (Lynsi) Murphy, Jake (Caitlin)
 Murphy, Taylor Allen, Jordan Allen, Zack McCubbin, Ian McCubbin; and

Carolyn Annette (Beckwith) Murphy

Lifelong Goodland, KS resident, Joe Wellington Armstrong, 73, passed 
away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Goodland Medical Center in 
Goodland.

Joe was born on December 30, 1946 in Goodland, KS to Kenneth R. and 
Helen (Jones) Armstrong.&nbsp; He was one of two children.&nbsp; Joe attended 
public school in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 
1965.&nbsp; He then went on to attend Fort Hays State University for a year 
and a half.

On August 3, 1968, Joe married Threse Kashka at Our Lady of Perpetual
 Help Catholic Church in Goodland.&nbsp; To this union, two children Andy and
 Jeremy were born.

Joe was a quintessential farmer.&nbsp; During his farming days, he grew 
sugar beets, sunflowers, wheat, milo, alfalfa, and corn.&nbsp; He also raised
 hogs, beef and dairy cattle.&nbsp; Joe was a member of the Knights of 
Columbus, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was a 50-year 
member of the Goodland Elks Lodge.&nbsp; He was also an excellent welder and 
made many of the trailers used around the farm.

After his farming days, Joe enjoyed creating wooden flower boxes and 
garden benches.&nbsp; He became a Master Gardener and sold his produce at the
 local farmer’s market.

Preceding Joe in death were his parents, a sister Tonya Cook and a granddaughter Kara Fishman-Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife Threse of the home, two sons Andy (Susie) 
Armstrong of Norman, OK and Jeremy (Tish) Armstrong of Youngtown, AZ.&nbsp; 
He is also survived by three grandchildren; Andrea Armstrong of Norman, 
OK, Brandy Morales of Douglasville, GA, and Amelia Armstrong of 
Youngtown, AZ.

 </figure>Lifelong Goodland, KS resident, Joe Wellington Armstrong, 73, passed 
away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Goodland Medical Center in 
Goodland.Joe was born on December 30, 1946 in Goodland, KS to Kenneth R. and 
Helen (Jones) Armstrong.&nbsp; He was one of two children.&nbsp; Joe attended 
public school in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 
1965.&nbsp; He then went on to attend Fort Hays State University for a year 
and a half.On August 3, 1968, Joe married Threse Kashka at Our Lady of Perpetual
 Help Catholic Church in Goodland.&nbsp; To this union, two children Andy and
 Jeremy were born.Joe was a quintessential farmer.&nbsp; During his farming days, he grew 
sugar beets, sunflowers, wheat, milo, alfalfa, and corn.&nbsp; He also raised
 hogs, beef and dairy cattle.&nbsp; Joe was a member of the Knights of 
Columbus, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was a 50-year 
member of the Goodland Elks Lodge.&nbsp; He was also an excellent welder and 
made many of the trailers used around the farm.After his farming days, Joe enjoyed creating wooden flower boxes and 
garden benches.&nbsp; He became a Master Gardener and sold his produce at the
 local farmer’s market.Preceding Joe in death were his parents, a sister Tonya Cook and a granddaughter Kara Fishman-Armstrong.He is survived by his wife Threse of the home, two sons Andy (Susie) 
Armstrong of Norman, OK and Jeremy (Tish) Armstrong of Youngtown, AZ.&nbsp; 
He is also survived by three grandchildren; Andrea Armstrong of Norman, 
OK, Brandy Morales of Douglasville, GA, and Amelia Armstrong of

Protection, Kansas, formerly of Ellis passed, away Thursday, December 10, 
2020, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, Kansas. She was born 
December 10, 1954, in Hays, Kansas, to Fred and Theresa (Hoog) Weimer. 

Mick&nbsp;graduated from Ellis High School in 1972. She enjoyed playing guitar and had played in a rock band.&nbsp;

She is survived by four brothers, Don 
Weimer (Norma) of Hays, Eugene "Woody" Weimer (Elizabeth) of McKinney, 
Texas, Linus "Chub" Weimer (Wanda) of Andover, Kansas and Martin Weimer 
(Karla) of Ellis; three sisters, Donna Hays (Alan) of Ellis, Linda 
Vanderwood of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Paulette Deutscher (Gary 
Blessing) of Great Bend, Kansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Susan Weber.

Mary Ellen Hall, age 79, died on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at her 
home in Tribune, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on January 16, 1941, in Horace, 
Kansas, the daughter of Pete and Mary E. Hanziker Schulz.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tribune, Kansas and 
worked as a dispatcher for the Greeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include:&nbsp;Four Sons - Charles “Bill” Hall of Cheyenne, 
Wyoming,&nbsp;Jimmy Hall of Tribune, Kansas,Tod Hall of Tribune, Kansas,&nbsp;Wes 
Hall of Tribune, Kansas,&nbsp;One Daughter - Judy Fahrenholtz of Denver, 
Colorado,&nbsp;One Sister - Arlene Desbien of Riverside, California,&nbsp;One 
Brother - Jack Schulz of Allentown, Pennsylvania,&nbsp;Nine grandchildren, 
eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Tawni Hall;

Steven Dale Zink, 62, passed away December 12, 2020, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS.

He was born April 15, 1958, in Larned, the son of Clarence Lee and 
Venita May Clayton Zink.&nbsp; A lifetime area resident, he was a machinist 
and enjoyed tinkering with things and researching.

Survivors include: three sons, Caleb Zink, Harney County, OR., Jesse 
Zink, Wichita, Jerad (Bonnie) Zink, Larned; two sisters, Pam (Chuck) 
Twitchell, Goessel, Kim (Todd) Teegerstrom, Newton; sister-in-law, Cindy
 Zink, Larned and eight grandchildren, Tristen Harding, Willim Huebler, 
Treyton Harding, Alex Zink, Kaydence Rudy, William Zink, Aldon Parker 
and Asa Zink-Harding.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Zink and a sister, Teresa Shoup.

Cremation has taken place and no service is planned at this time.

Petra Santoyo-Saucedo, 83, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020, 
at University of Kansas Health System- Great Bend Campus.&nbsp; She was born 
June 28, 1937, in Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Federico and Santos 
(Saucedo) Santoyo. She married Julio Palacios in 1989, he preceded her 
in death.

Petra has been a resident of Great Bend since 1998. She is a member 
of Prince of Peace Parish St. Rose Catholic Church. She enjoyed 
crocheting, gardening and flowers. She loved spending time with her 
family and friends.

Survivors include three sons Manuel Santoyo of Garden City, Julio 
Palacios of Great Bend, and Luis Palacios of Juarez Chihuha, Mexico; 
four daughters Norma Martinez of Garden City, Olivia Briones of Austin, 
TX, Angelica Escobedo of Great Bend, and Maria Garcia of Grand Island, 
NE; one sister Maria Enedina Santoyo of Gomez Palacio Mexico; twelve 
grandsons and thirteen granddaughters and many great grandchildren. She 
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Eleazar Palacios, and
 a brother Isidro Santoyo-Saucedo.

Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020, 
funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, and both 
at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Don Bedore presiding, burial will 
follow at Great Bend North Cemetery.

Ronald Ray Pfenninger, 71, passed away December 11, 2020, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born July 18, 1949, in Great Bend; the son of Chester H. and 
Ella M. Crosson Pfenninger. A lifetime area resident; he was a 
farmer/stockman.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rozel, where he held 
many offices, the Pawnee Watershed, the State Association of Kansas 
Watershed, Walnut City Lodge #215, Fort Hays Shrine Club and the Lincoln
 Township board.

On May 23, 1971, he married Linda Benda in Gem, KS.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Becky Rae Pfenninger, Liberal and 
Scott Douglas (Amanda) Pfenninger, Derby and two grandchildren, Liam and
 Owen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rodney Gay Pfenninger.

Private family service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 
at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Tom Beckwith presiding.&nbsp; Service will

Bertha M. “Bertie” Lang, 92, Hays, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 26, 1928, in 
Catharine, the daughter of Justus P. and Bertha (Staab) Walters.&nbsp; On May
 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ralph J. Lang in Catharine, and 
they celebrated 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on 
May 21, 2013.&nbsp; She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic 
Church and the Daughters of Isabella Circle #254.&nbsp; Bertie loved babies 
and enjoyed baking for her family.

Survivors include her four sons:&nbsp; 
Robert Lang and wife Mary of Manhattan, Steve Lang of Lawrence, Tim Lang
 and wife Lisa, and Brian Lang and wife Anne all of Hays, two sisters: 
Dorothy Lang and Shirley Weigel, both of Hays, 12 grandchildren: Chad 
Lang and wife Kelly, Clint Lang, Carson Lang and wife Shelby, Brent 
Lang, Chris Lang, Devin Lang and wife Ashley, Colin Lang and wife Mary, 
Emily Thomasson and husband Scott, Beth Aldridge and husband Nathan, 
Crystal Cummins, Lauren Westfall and husband Adam, and Grace Lang, 17 
great grandchildren: Kyle, Bobby, Casey, Kyra, Austin, Daimon, Mason,

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, her husband Ralph, nine brothers: Alfred “Fritz”, Florence, 
Paul, Rudolf, Rupert, Rudolf, Romauld, Francis, and Alexius Walters, and
 three sisters: Emelia Cole, Helen Stecklein, and Adelaide Dinkel.
