The Tigers (11-4, 6-0 MIAA) and Lions (10-5, 3-3 MIAA) will now play in a three-game set beginning Saturday (March 8) and concluding Monday (March 10) at Larks Park.

First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday, 2 p.m. on Sunday and 1 p.m. on Monday.

The Tigers have won seven in a row, the longest active winning streak in the MIAA. Fort Hays State is 20-49 all-time against Missouri Southern, including a win in the most recent meeting. ⚾ FHSU pushes back weekend slate with Lions

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball had three players recognized with MIAA postseason honors on Tuesday. Kaleb Hammeke&nbsp;became the only five-time All-MIAA selection in FHSU men's basketball program history, earning a first-team selection for the third-straight year. He was also named to the MIAA All-Defensive Team. Kyle Grill&nbsp;was an All-MIAA Honorable Mention pick, while Shaun Riley&nbsp;joined Hammeke as one of five players on the All-Defensive Team.

Hammeke continued to add to his storied career at FHSU. He became the fourth player in the program's history to receive all-conference first team honors for a third time in their careers, joining Elmer Johnson (1938, 1939, 1940), Mark Wilson (1978, 1979, 1981), and Raymond Lee (1984, 1985, 1986). He is the first three-time all-conference first team selection in the program's NCAA Division II history. Hammeke is the all-time leading scorer at FHSU, now with 2,008 points in his career. This season, he is averaging 16.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. He has scored in double figures in all but one game this year. Hammeke is one of only four active players at all NCAA levels to have 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists in their careers, joining Mark Sears of Alabama, Caleb Love of Arizona, and RJ Davis of North Carolina. Hammeke also received a selection to the All-Defensive Team for the first time in his career at FHSU.

Grill is enjoying a strong sophomore season for the Tigers. He ranks second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game, while adding 4.6 rebounds per game. He has scored in double figures 20 times this season with a season high of 25 points. He scored at least 20 in a game four times this season. Entering the MIAA Tournament, he leads the team in 3-point field goals made with 47.

Riley received a nod on the MIAA All-Defensive Team alongside Hammeke. He averaged a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game in the regular season, while leading the Tigers in blocked shots with 26. Not seen on a stat sheet, Riley consistently showed a suffocating display of defense throughout the season, especially in key moments when outcome of games were on the line.

This was the first time FHSU had multiple players named to the MIAA All-Defensive Team in a season. It is the fourth-straight season the Tigers had representation on the All-Defensive Team. The Tigers are the top defensive team in NCAA Division II, allowing just 59.8 points per game.

🏀 Hammeke, Grill, and Riley earn MIAA postseason honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Katie DeGarmo&nbsp;has been named MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year for a second-consecutive season while fellow Tiger Olivia Hollenbeck&nbsp;has earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2024-25, headlining Fort Hays State's haul in Tuesday's release of the MIAA postseason awards and All-MIAA teams.

Fort Hays State led the league with five All-MIAA performers, tied for the most in a single season in team history. DeGarmo and Hollenbeck were both first team selections, giving the Tigers a pair of first teamers for the sixth time in team history and the first time since 2020-21.

Kate Dilsaver, Brooke Loewe&nbsp;and Talexa Weeter&nbsp;all received honorable mention recognition, while Dilsaver and Hollenbeck were both on the All-Defensive Team. It is the second time FHSU has had multiple representatives on the All-Defensive Team and the first since 2014-15.

DeGarmo is the fifth player since 1980 to earn the conference's top honor in consecutive seasons and the first to do so since Washburn's Crystal Walker in 2001-02 and 2002-03. She is the third player in school history to earn first team honors three times, joining Annette Wiles and Kate Lehman. It is her fourth All-MIAA honor overall after also picking up second team status in 2021-22.

The Maize, Kan. native led the team with 16.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, ranking third in the league in each category. She was also third in assist/turnover ratio in the league (1.9) and ranked 12th in the conference with 1.6 steals per game. She is the program record holder with 1,199 career rebounds while ranking second with 2,198 points. DeGarmo is also fourth all-time in assists, fifth in steals and second in field goals at FHSU.

She also ranks third in field goals and needs 30 rebounds to crack the top 10 list in that category at FHSU.

She broke the single season school record with her 192 assists and already ranks ninth in program history with 347 assists in just three seasons.

HOUSTON (AP) — L.J. Cryer scored 22 points and No. 3 Houston won its ninth straight game with a 65-59 victory over Kansas on Monday night.

Emanuel Sharp added 12 points off the bench, including two free throws that pushed Houston's lead to 63-59 with 20 seconds left. The Cougars (26-4, 18-1 Big 12) went 4 of 4 from the foul line down the stretch.

Cryer had 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting in the first half as Houston took a 30-27 lead into the break.

Milos Uzan finished with 10 points for the Cougars, who had already clinched their second consecutive outright Big 12 regular-season title. Mylik Wilson had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Houston shot 35% from the field and was 7 of 20 on 3-pointers.

Hunter Dickinson had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the scuffling Jayhawks (19-11, 10-9), who shot 45%. KJ Adams Jr. added 15 points and David Coit had 14 off the bench.

Kansas: The Jayhawks fell to 3-3 against top-10 teams and 4-3 versus AP Top 25 teams this season.

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Fort Hays State track and field teams capped off the final day of the MIAA Indoor Championships with several strong performances, highlighted by a record-breaking run from Emily Dierks&nbsp;in the women's 3,000-meter race. Both the men's and women's teams secured seventh-place finishes, with the men totaling 36 points and the women earning 35.

Diercks delivered the highlight of the day, rewriting her own school record in the 3,000m with a blistering time of 9:49.27. Her third-place finish secured All-MIAA honors and marked her second All-MIAA performance of the weekend. In addition to setting a new program best, Diercks hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, further solidifying her place among the top distance runners in the conference.

In the men's pole vault, Jacob Clark&nbsp;continued his dominance in the event, clearing 17-0.00 to place second and secure All-MIAA recognition. His performance also met the NCAA national qualifying standard. Teammate Josiah Ball&nbsp;added to the team's point total, finishing seventh after clearing 15-6.25.

On the track, Hayden Albright&nbsp;delivered a pair of scoring performances in the sprints. He placed sixth in the 200m finals with a time of 21.71 and finished eighth in the 400m, clocking in at 47.95, an NCAA qualifying mark.

In the women's triple jump,&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-track-and-field/roster/jayme-hagerman/8396">Jayme Hagerman</a>&nbsp;earned a seventh-place finish with a mark of 37-8.50, earning a pair of points to the women's total. Both the men's and women's teams secured seventh-place finishes, with the men totaling 36 points and the women earning 35.Diercks delivered the highlight of the day, rewriting her own school record in the 3,000m with a blistering time of 9:49.27. Her third-place finish secured All-MIAA honors and marked her second All-MIAA performance of the weekend. In addition to setting a new program best, Diercks hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, further solidifying her place among the top distance runners in the conference.In the men's pole vault, Jacob Clark&nbsp;continued his dominance in the event, clearing 17-0.00 to place second and secure All-MIAA recognition. His performance also met the NCAA national qualifying standard. Teammate Josiah Ball&nbsp;added to the team's point total, finishing seventh after clearing 15-6.25.On the track, Hayden Albright&nbsp;delivered a pair of scoring performances in the sprints. 🏃‍♀️ Diercks sets school record as Tigers finish up MIAA Indoor Championships

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — David N’Guessan had 21 points and eight rebounds and Kansas State defeated Colorado 65-56 on Sunday to snap a four-game losing streak.

Kansas State led by 11 points at halftime, then N'Guessan had five points in a 7-0 run that gave the Wildcats a 46-29 lead with 14 minutes remaining in the game. The Wildcats led by double digits for most of the remainder. Colorado got within eight points once and later the score was 63-54 after Sebastian Rancik hit two free throws for the Buffaloes with a minute to go.

Macaleab Rich made two free throws for K-State with 48 seconds left and Rancik's dunk with six seconds remaining finished off the scoring.

There was one tie, no lead changes, and Kansas State led for 38 1/2 minutes.

Brendan Hausen scored 11 points and Dug McDaniel had 10 points and seven assists for Kansas State (14-15, 8-10 Big 12).

Colorado (11-18, 2-16 Big 12) got 11 points from RJ Smith and 10 each from Rancik and Bangot Dak.

The Wildcats took an early 12-2 lead, thanks to a 10-0 run in which Colorado committed three shooting fouls, good for five made K-State free throws. The Wildcats built a 33-17 lead with two minutes left in the half before Colorado scored the last five to trail 33-22 at the break.

It was the first meeting between the two teams since Colorado left the Big 12 after the 2001 season.

With two games left in the regular season, Kansas State is tied for ninth place and Colorado is last.

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State baseball team extended its winning streak to seven with a walk-off win over Missouri Western on Sunday, winning 3-2 for the second day in a row. The Tigers (11-4, 6-0) swept their second-straight conference series in the process, doing so for the first time since 2016.

Paul Panduro&nbsp;got the start for the Tigers and gave FHSU seven solid innings, scattering three hits over those frames while allowing just one unearned run to score.

The Tigers struck first in the bottom of the second when Trey DeGarmo&nbsp;led off with a double to center. Luis Ayala&nbsp;followed and reached on an error before DeGarmo came in to score on an RBI groundout from Cooper Howell. Zane Knox&nbsp;kept things rolling with an RBI single up the middle, putting the home team in front 2-0.

Fort Hays State had chances to add to its lead, collecting 11 hits in the game and managing baserunners in each inning, but the Griffon staff was able to get out of multiple jams to keep things close.

The Griffons eventually tied the game with a pair of unearned runs, one in the sixth and one in the top of the ninth. Fort Hays State answered right back, scoring in the bottom of the ninth after Isaiah Ural&nbsp;led off with a double down the right-field line. A pair of intentional walks later loaded the bases with one out for Ayala. The catcher sent a grounder to the third baseman who threw home for the force out to keep things tied. The Griffon catcher then tried to throw Ayala out at first, but the throw got away from the first baseman and allowed Elliott Herrmann&nbsp;to score from second base to end the game.

Kaleb Carpenter&nbsp;came on with one man on in the eighth inning to record three consecutive outs, including a pickoff to wipe out the baserunner. Brandon Chavez&nbsp;(2-0) earned the win after giving up one unearned run on one walk in the ninth inning while striking out one batter.

Cesar Saavedra&nbsp;and Zane Knox&nbsp;each had three hits in the game, while Ural added a pair of base knocks.

The Tigers will continue a nine-game homestand next weekend (March 7-9) when they host No. 13 Missouri Southern, with first pitch again set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Indians claimed their fifth straight team championship at the 3-2-1A state tournament
in Hays Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

The Norton girls also claimed their first title in program
history in the first year that 3-2-1A was separated from the largest
classifications. 

The Indians had eight medal winners and four individual
champions while racking up 192 team points. Norton was second (146 points)
followed by Phillipsburg (106), Atchinson County (91) and Russell (82).

Norton and Southeast of Saline each finished with two individual
champions, and Russell, Oakley, Beloit, Phillipsburg, West Franklin, and
Douglass each had one champion.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State will be the No. 2 seed in next week's MIAA Basketball Championship presented by Southern Bank, announced Saturday by the conference office. The tournament will be held inside historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Mo. March 5-9.

The Tigers received the No. 2 seed after finishing second in the final MIAA KPI standings. Even though they finished fourth in the standings by record, the value of FHSU's body of work throughout regular season conference play pushed it past Rogers State and Pittsburg State for the No. 2 seed. FHSU was 12-7 in MIAA play, while RSU and PSU were 13-6. FHSU defeated both RSU and PSU in head-to-head meetings during the regular season. The Tigers went 19-9 overall in the regular season.

As the No. 2 seed, the Tigers will take on the winner of No. 7 Central Missouri and No. 10 Northeastern State in the quarterfinals on Thursday (March 6) beginning at 2:15 p.m.

🏀 Tigers women draw No. 2 seed in 2025 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship

GUNNISON, Colo. - The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team will send two competitors to the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships after the Tigers had three placers at the Super Region VI Championships Saturday. Fort Hays State placed ninth as a team, picking up 42.5 team points.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/tereus-henry/8295">Tereus Henry</a>, who finished second at 197 pounds,&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/matthew-rodriguez/8306">Matthew Rodriguez</a>, who placed third at 184 pounds,&nbsp;will both represent FHSU at the national meet after placing in the top three on Saturday, while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/drew-bell/8290">Drew Bell</a>&nbsp;also reached the podium with a fifth-place finish at 149.

Henry, the 10th-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds, did not compete until the quarterfinals where he pinned his first opponent. He then defeated eighth-ranked Gabe Carranza of Colorado Mesa in the semifinals with a 2-1 decision, beating Carranza in the regional semis for the second year in a row. Both wrestlers picked up an escape point, but Henry racked up enough riding time to earn a bonus point and advance to the finals.

Henry then faced off with fifth-ranked Jackson Kinsella of Nebraska-Kearney for the second time in two weeks and the eighth time in their career. Kinsella came out on top with a 4-1 decision thanks to a takedown with less than 10 seconds remaining, ending Henry's bid for a regional three-peat. A former All-American, Henry will be making his fourth appearance at the national meet and has now placed in the top three at regionals five times.

Rodriguez advanced to nationals the hard way after falling in his first bout of the day to the eventual runner up. The sophomore then rattled off four consecutive wins on the backside of the bracket, including three straight pins to reach the third-place bout. A takedown and two nearfall points late in the second period were enough to propel the Salina, Kan. native to a 7-5 decision and punch his ticket to the national meet.

Bell finished the day 3-2 to reach the podium at regionals for the first time in his career. After opening the day with a loss via decision, Bell earned back-to-back wins in the consolation bracket to reach the consolation semifinals. The Hoxie, Kan. native first won with an 8-2 decision before recording a first-period pin to secure a spot on the podium. He then fell to the third-ranked wrestler in the country in Western Colorado's Dean Noble before winning the fifth place match via medical forfeit.

Henry and Rodriguez will next head to Indianapolis for the National Championships March 14-15, which are being held as a part of the 2025 NCAA Division II Winter Festival.
