HAYS – The top-ranked TMP-Marian baseball team remained undefeated after a pair of home wins over Hoisington Tuesday, 4-1 and 11-0. TMP improved to 16-0 overall.
The Monarchs will play rival Russell-Victoria Friday in Russell. The Broncos are 17-1 and ranked eighth in Class 3A.
Game 1: TMP-Marian 4, Hoisington 1
The Monarchs scored a run in the first, two in the fifth and one in the sixth
to build a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals got their lone run in the top of the
seventh.
The Monarchs were held to five singles with Grant Nehls and Logan Baalmann both driving in a run.
Baalmann earned the win allowing no runs on two hits over 4 1/3 innings with no walks and six strikeouts. Nehls gave up a run in the seventh and walked five over 2 1/3 innings. Isaac Purington came in to get the final out in the seventh.
Game 2: TMP-Marian 11, Hoisington 0

The Monarchs did all their scoring in the fourth inning and win despite having only
five hits.
Ty Schmeidler hit a solo home run to right field, Carson Liles and Ian Nehls both had two-run singles, Trevor Fabrizius, Caden Dinkel and Jacob Sieb each drew a bases-loaded walks, Fabrizius was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and another run scored on one of the Cardinals five errors.
Dinkel earned the win allowing only one hit over 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts and one walk. Ian Nehls came in to get the final out.
