KANSAS CITY - The Royals placed right-handed reliever Jesse Hahn on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder impingement syndrome, the club announced Monday ahead of its series opener against the Angels in Kansas City.

In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled right-hander Jake Newberry from the alternate training site.

Hahn, one of the Royals’ high-leverage relievers, felt soreness leading up to Sunday, but took advantage of the off-days last week to rest his arm. When he was warming up to enter the Royals’ 10-inning, 4-3 win over the White Sox on Sunday, Hahn felt more than soreness and was able to locate the point of pain when informing the Royals about it after pitching Sunday.

Hahn had a full examination done Monday morning in Kansas City, including X-rays that showed the impingement, but no muscle strain. He won’t throw for the next three days and will take medication to get rid of the inflammation before assessing later this week. There’s no timetable for Hahn's return, but Royals manager Mike Matheny said it will be “some time.”

CHICAGO (AP) — The Kansas City Royals could be headed for a hangover.

Michael A. Taylor scored when Garrett Crochet misplayed Andrew Benintendi’s bunt in the 10th inning, sending the Royals to a wild 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

“That’s the kind of win ... that you hope kind of have a hangover effect,” Matheny said. “You have some that can negatively have that hangover, and this is going to be one of those with the positive.”

Taylor opened the 10th on second base and advanced on Nicky Lopez’s sacrifice. After Whit Merrifield was walked intentionally, Benintendi bunted the ball right back to the mound.

It looked as if Crochet (0-1) had time to get Taylor at the plate, but he spiked his throw and catcher Zack Collins couldn’t come up with it. It was Chicago’s second error of the day and ninth overall in the first nine games.

“The bunt hopped up on him,” White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. “If it had stayed down, you practice underhanding it, but it came up, so he had to go over the top, so it was a tough play for him.”

Greg Holland (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win, and Kyle Zimmer worked a perfect 10th for his first career save.

The Royals celebrated Zimmer’s achievement by showering the right-hander with beer.

“It’s another box I get to check off on my personal career,” Zimmer said. “But the win and the team just definitely comes first.”

Chicago had won 17 straight games when its opponent started a left-handed pitcher, one shy of the major league record set by Atlanta from 2004-05. But it ended up on the losing end of a roller-coaster finish.

Kansas City grabbed a 2-1 lead on Benintendi’s RBI single in the eighth. But Chicago went back in front on Adam Eaton’s first career pinch-hit homer in the bottom half, a drive that hooked just inside the foul pole in right.

The Royals then tied it again when Carlos Santana led off the ninth with a drive to center off Liam Hendriks. It was Hendriks’ first blown save since he signed a $54 million, three-year deal with Chicago in free agency.

Merrifield also had a run-scoring single for Kansas City, which was shut out by Lance Lynn in a 6-0 loss in the series opener Thursday. Following a day off, Saturday’s matchup was rained out.

The Royals had dropped six in a row against the White Sox dating to last season.

“It’s just such a special clubhouse, so anytime we can pull out one against a division rival, it’s huge,” Zimmer said.

After wasting prime scoring opportunities in the second and third, Chicago jumped in front when Leury García’s liner got past leaping third baseman Hunter Dozier for a two-out RBI double in the fourth. Danny Mendick helped set up the run with a 10-pitch walk against Mike Minor.

White Sox: SS Tim Anderson (strained left hamstring) remains on track to return this week, general manager Rick Hahn said. Anderson is eligible to come off the 10-day injured list on Thursday. ... The game was scoreless until the 79th&nbsp;minute of the game. Missouri Western's Ashley Mathis broke free behind the Tiger defense and was set up by a nice through pass from Lauren Street. Mathis rifled a ball into the upper left corner of the net.  </figure>WICHITA, Kan. - The Fort Hays State women's track and field team saw one school record go down alongside five provisional performances Saturday (April 10) at the Wichita State Open. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5964">Laurel Haley</a>&nbsp;surpassed the program record in the hammer throw with a heave of 182-8 on her sixth and final toss of the afternoon, breaking the 10-year-old record by three feet. The sophomore placed fifth in the event with her NCAA DII provisional mark. She also placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 128-0. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5987">Rhyann Brown</a>&nbsp;placed third in the javelin throw with a top mark of 144-9, eclipsing the provisional threshold for the second time this season. The freshman was the top Division II finisher in the event, finishing behind a Division I&nbsp;athlete and a junior college thrower. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5986">Addie Berens</a>&nbsp;also posted a provisional mark in the javelin throw, placing fifth with a toss of 137-10. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5994">Alexandra Hart</a>&nbsp;continued her perfect season in the high jump, winning yet again with another provisional mark. of relay teams and the boys had five individuals and two relay teams qualify
for the state track meet.

Among those returning state qualifiers are Kassidi Yost who
placed fourth in high jump as a freshman. Abby Rueschhoff qualified for state
in the triple jump and Sasha Wasinger qualified in shotput.

The Tigers fought back to tie things up at 2-2 in the fifth before erupting for 10 runs over the final two innings to seal the victory. Fort Hays State is now 5-20 on the season and 5-16 in MIAA play, while the Griffons dip to 8-19 overall and 6-15 in league action. After starter&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6037">Hunter Parker</a>&nbsp;worked around a pair of hits in the bottom of the first, the Tigers jumped in front after opening the second with three-consecutive hits.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6043">Grant Schmidt</a>&nbsp;led off with a double before&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6047">Garrett Stephens</a>&nbsp;moved him up with a single to right.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6039">Jacob Pryor</a>&nbsp;followed with a single through the hole at second, driving in the first run of the game. Parker made quick work of the Griffons the rest of the way, retiring the side in order in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings. The redshirt-junior retired the final 13 batters he faced, giving the Tiger offense a great opportunity to make something happen. After leaving two runners on in the seventh, the bats came through in the eighth with a big fly from&nbsp;Schmidt. The outfielder crushed his team-leading sixth home run sailing over the fence in center, driving in&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6022">Jacob Bouzide</a>&nbsp;and giving the Tigers a 4-2 advantage. The offense was not done yet, however, as the Tigers blew the game wide open with a huge two-out rally that yielded eight runs on seven hits.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6054">Traelon Yarbrough</a>&nbsp;led off the ninth with a single before Scott laid down a sacrifice bunt. A strikeout created the second out of the inning before Angeron drew an intentional walk. Bouzide was hit by a pitch in the ensuing plate appearance, loading the bases for&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6051">Kade Wallace</a>. The first baseman came through with a single to center, plating a pair and doubling the Tiger lead. Schmidt and Stephens kept things rolling with back-to-back RBI doubles before Pryor drove one in with a single to center. Yarbrough followed with his second hit of the inning before Scott sent a double to left center, driving in a pair and stretching the Tiger lead to double figures, 12-2. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6028">Jacob Ensz</a>&nbsp;came on to pitch the ninth inning, giving up one hit while striking out one batter to seal the victory. Parker (1-2) tossed 8.0 innings, giving up just two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters. Schmidt was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs, while Stephens finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. All nine Tigers in the starting lineup collected at least one hit, with five individuals collecting multiple base knocks in the win. Fort Hays State will return to Larks Park for a pair of home series over the next two weeks, starting with a three-game set against Northwest Missouri State April 16-17. The Tigers and Bearcats will battle in a single game Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. before facing off in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

🏐 Tigers come up short against No. 18 Griffons

GARDEN CITY — Twice the Hays High baseball team was three outs away from a run-rule victory in game two of their doubleheader with Garden City Friday night. The Buffs rallied both times to extend the game then scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Indians 23-22.

Hays won the first game 16-6 in five innings and is 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Garden City is 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the WAC.

Game 1: Hays 16, Garden City 6 (5 innings) The Indians scored seven runs in the top of the first and led 8-0 after an inning and a half.

The Buffs scored four in the second but the Indians quickly answered with three in the third, a run in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Dylan Dreiling, Garrett Wellbrock and Dalton Dale each had three of the Indians 15 hits. Wellbrock drove in three runs while Dale, Dalyn Schwarz and Jack Fields knocked in two.

The Indians had five extra base hits including a home run from Dreiling, triples from Dale and Dominic Bainter and a double from Wellbrock. HHS also had five stolen bases.

Starter Garrett Wellbrock allowed all six runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks over four innings and picked up the win.

Game 2: Garden City 23, Hays 22 Garden City scored 16 runs in the final three innings to rally from a 17-7 deficit.

The Indians had control early after scoring seven runs in the second, six in the fourth and four in the top of the fifth. They led 17-7 entering the bottom of the fifth and were three outs away from the run-rule victory but reliever Dalton Dale hit the leadoff batter who would later score on a fielders choice to short stop to extend the game.

Hays again pushed their lead to 10 on Dalton Dale's two-out double to center which scored Dylan Dreiling in the top of the sixth.

Garden City took advantage of two errors, a hit batter and two walks to score 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game 18-18.

The Indians scored four in the top of the seventh. Garrett Wellbrock drew a walk after Dylan Dreiilng was intentianally walked to load the bases. Remington Cox singled to left scoring Jack Fields and Dreiling. Dale singled to load the bases again. Dalyn Schwarz sac fly to center scored Wellbrock to give the Indians a 22-18 lead.

A leadoff walk followed by back-to-back doubles and another walk opened the door for the Garden City rally in the bottom of the seventh. Following a strikeout for the first out, Dawson VonFeldt hit a batter with the bases loaded which pulled the Buffs within a run. A single from&nbsp; Jesse Baltazar drove in two for the game winner.

VonFeldt, the Indians fifth pitcher in the game, allowed five runs on four hits with two walks and a strikeouts and takes the loss. Sophomore Carson Spray&nbsp; made his varsity debut on the mound and allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 2 2/3 innings.

The Indians had 20 hits in the game, 10 of them went for extra bases including Spray's first career home run. Dale and Bainter both tripled, Dale and Remington Cox both added a pair of doubles along with VonFeldt, Wellbrock and Spray.

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Fort Hays State volleyball team fell in three set against No. 18 Northwest Missouri State Friday evening (April 9), 3-0. The Tigers are now 3-8 this spring, while the Bearcats move to 11-2 in 2021. The Tigers led early in a back-and-forth first set that featured five ties and four lead changes before Northwest pulled away to win 25-16. The Bearcats added a 25-15 win in set two before capping off the night with a 25-20 win in set three. The Hornets snapped FHSU's three-game winning streak and remained undefeated at 6-0 in spring play. FHSU moved to 3-2-1 for the spring.&nbsp; Both teams were deadlocked until Emporia State broke through&nbsp;in the 27th minute. ESU's Ashlynn Lakin&nbsp;netted a header off a corner kick to give the Hornets the early 1-0 lead. Emporia State doubled its lead late in the second half with an insurance goal from MacKenzie Dimarco&nbsp;with less than 15 mintues remaining. The Tigers were unable to get much offense going throughout the evening as they have gone scoreless in their tie and two losses this spring. However, they have averaged three goals per match in their three wins. Fort Hays State looks to get back on track with a Sunday afternoon (Apr. 11) match against Missouri Western on April 11. ⚽ Tiger women fall at home to Hornets

CHICAGO (AP) — There wasn’t much doubt Lance Lynn would go back out to finish this one. Manager Tony La Russa turned to him and asked how he was feeling.

“He looked at me and said, ‘Are you good?’” Lynn said. “I said, ‘I’m gonna finish it. Does that sound good?’ He goes, ‘Sounds good.’ And that was pretty much it.”

Lynn pitched a five-hitter for the first complete game and shutout in the major leagues this season, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 6-0 on a rainy Thursday.

Yermín Mercedes kept up his scorching start with a 485-foot&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/1380293851416518660" target="_blank">homer</a>. Yoán Moncada&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/1380289615911907333" target="_blank">went deep</a>, and the White Sox gave manager Tony La Russa the win in his first home game on the South Side in 35 years.

Lynn (1-0) struck out 11 and walked none in his second shutout in 238 career starts, his first since a five-hitter against the New York Yankees on May 27, 2014.

Acquired from Texas in the offseason, Lynn threw 79 of 111 pitches for strikes in his fourth career complete game. The 33-year-old right-hander struck out the first three batters and did not allow a runner until Salvador Pérez led off the fifth with an infield single.

La Russa saw Lynn’s potential when he managed him in 2011 as a rookie with St. Louis. Lynn went on to become an innings-eating workhorse who can keep hitters off balance with a variety of pitches.

“He was really competitive,” La Russa said. “Now, what he’s added is experience. Ball does different things. He has three different fastballs. He has a nice breaking ball. He’s really just become a veteran pitcher who understands, keeps adding here, adding there so the hitters have to see different things. It’s really impressive.”

Moncada hit a two-run homer in the first, and Mercedes followed with a long shot to left-center against Brad Keller to make it 3-0. The 28-year-old rookie went 2 for 4, giving him a major league-leading 15 hits in 27 at-bats. And the White Sox came away with an easy win in a game delayed more than two hours at the start.

La Russa had not managed a home game on the South Side since a loss to the California Angels on June 11, 1986. Chicago fired him soon in a move chairman Jerry Reinsdorf regretted allowing, and the White Sox brought back the Hall of Famer in October to replace Rick Renteria, hoping he can push them to a championship.

“I could feel the excitement,” La Russa said. “The fans are looking forward to watching this club.”

Keller (0-1), coming off the shortest opening-day start in franchise history, got tagged for four runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings after getting just four outs against Texas last week.

Lynn, meanwhile, established his fastball and overpowered Kansas City.

“It was hard sinker, hard cut, trust movement,” Royals manager Mike Matheny said. “I think that’s probably a lot like the conversation that we’ve already had with Brad. He’s got the ability to predominantly use that pitch — and use the other pitches off of it. He’s just got to trust it a little bit more like we saw the guy on the other side. He trusted it more today.”

White Sox: GM Rick Hahn said the White Sox expect star SS Tim Anderson (strained left hamstring) to return once he’s eligible to be activated from the 10-day injured list on April 15. ... The White Sox placed OF Billy Hamilton (strained left hamstring) on the 10-day injured list and selected the contract of OF Nick Williams from their training facility in Schaumburg. ⚾ Royals drop series opener to White Sox

HOLCOMB – The Thomas
More Prep-Marian baseball team picked up a couple of run-rule wins over Holcomb
Thursday. The Monarchs pull away late in a 16-0 win in the opener then strike
early in their 14-1 game two victory. The Monarchs improve to 4-0 with all four
games decided by run-rule.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 16, Holcomb 0 (6 innings) 
The Monarchs led 4-0 after three innings then put the game away with
a three-run fifth and nine-run sixth inning.

Mark Rack had
three of the Monarchs 10 hits and drove in three runs, two of them on a triple
in the sixth inning.

Jace Wentling
went 2-for-2 with two walks and scored three runs. 

Caden Morgan
drove in two runs. He also struck out 10 with one walk over five innings on the
mound for the victory.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 14, Holcomb 0 (5 innings) 
The Monarchs took control early, scoring five runs in the top of the first
inning then added two in the second, three in the third and fourth then capped
the scoring with a run in the fifth.

Jace Wentling
opened the game with a solo homer to right field. Mark Rack, Caden Morgan,
Nicholas Herrman and Bryce Conner strung together four straight hits. Morgan’s
single drove in Nick Helget who reached on a base hit earlier in the frame.
Herrman’s single knocked in Rack and Conner single scored Morgan and Herrman.

Wentling
finished with three hits, a walk, two RBIs and four runs scored. Conner
finished 3-for-3 with three RBI. Morgan drove in three runs and Chet Irvin
knocked in two.

Mark Rack
picked up the win on the mound. He allowed one run on four hits with four
strikeouts and two walks over four innings. Nicholas Herrman struck out three
to close out the game in the fifth.

finished with three hits, a walk, two RBIs and four runs scored. Conner
finished 3-for-3 with three RBI. Morgan drove in three runs and Chet Irvin

⚾ Monarchs sweep Holcomb to move to 4-0

Hays High softball held their home opener Thursday at Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex by hosting Dodge City. The Red Demons beat the Indians 6-1 in a single game in Dodge City on Tuesday.

Ramie Lopp threw a no-hitter on just 80 pitches in game one for a 7-0 victory for the Red Demons. Hays never moved any of their three base runners past first. The Indians walked once and were hit by two pitches.

Four of the Red Demons runs were unearned due to three Hays High errors. Dodge City scored one in the first, four in the third and two more in the fifth. The first five runs of the game came with two outs.

Hays led by four runs twice in game two but could not hold on for the victory. The Indians scored four in the first inning and two more in the second for a 6-2 advantage. Dodge City switched pitchers for the third inning trailing 6-3 and Ramie Lopp threw five more innings of scoreless ball.&nbsp;

HAYS – The TMP-Marian
softball team split their home doubleheader with Holcomb Thursday at the TMP
Field. The Monarchs lost 12-2 in game one but bounced back with a 12-6 win in
game two.

Game 1: Holcomb 12, TMP-Marian 2 (6 innings) 
Holcomb scored four runs in the top of the first then put the game away with
six runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Longhorns
took advantage of three errors and a walk and added a double and a triple in
the first inning.

TMP scored
their two runs in the fourth. Kyleigh Allen started the rally with a two-out
single. Hannah Garcia followed with a double to right field scoring Allen.
Emilee Augustine then tripled to left field scoring Garcia.

The Monarchs

Allen took
the loss in the circle allowing 12 runs (eight earned) on eight hits with seven

The Monarchs overcame a 2-0 first inning deficit by scoring two in the third
then four in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Augustine drove in Kyleigh Allen with a one-out single to center field to get
the Monarchs on the board in the third inning. She later scored on a passed
ball to tie the game 2-2.

The Monarchs
took advantage of leadoff error to start their four-run fourth inning. Alexa Ryersee followed with a double which scored Hannah Garcia. With one out, Halle
Dreiling reached on an infield single scoring Ryersee to put the Monarchs up
4-2. Kyliegh Allen’s bunt single advancing Dreiling to third who scored on Jessica Herrman’s ground out to second. Emilee Augustine singled in her second at-bat
of the inning scoring Allen from first.

Allen and Augustine both finished 4-for-4 at the plate. Augustine drove in four
runs and Allen scored three times. Jaci VonLintel had three hits and Dreiling
drove in runs.

Hays High boys golf team finished in fourth place at the McPherson Invitational

strokes over Great Bend with a 319.

Krannawitter and sophomore Braden Hoskins both shot an 8-over-par 78 and tied

⚽ Indians, Monarchs both pick up road wins

CLEVELAND (AP) — When José Ramírez’s shot to deep right field narrowly missed being a home run, Shane Bieber knew what was coming next.

“Foul ball, homer, foul ball, homer,” the Cy Young Award winner said. “You know he’s on it and he’s going straighten it out. Sure enough, he did.”

Ramírez’s second two-run homer of the game snapped a tie in the eighth inning and sent the Cleveland Indians to a 4-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday after Bieber struck out 12 for the second straight game.

Ramírez’s one-out shot in the eighth off Greg Holland (0-1) gave the Indians their first home win in 2021 after they were shut out 3-0 on Monday.

In the sixth, Ramirez, who was fooled by a pitch and struck out in his first at-bat, hit a long foul to right before connecting for a two-run homer to bring in Cleveland’s first runs at Progressive Field this season.

“This just in,” Indians manager Terry Francona said. “Josey’s pretty good.

It was the kind of performance the Indians have come to expect from their All-Star third baseman, who finished second in the MVP voting last season and third in 2017 and 2018.

“He’s a gamer, man,” Bieber said. “It never turns off. Whether it’s going good or it’s not, he’s the same guy and he brings that same energy and that’s why we rely on him so much. Not just physically, but as a leader in the clubhouse, the way he goes about everything.

“Really can’t say enough about the guy. He comes up in big moments like he did today and that’s why he’s our guy.”

Emmanuel Clase (1-0) pitched the eighth — all nine of his fastballs were over 100 mph — and Nick Wittgren worked the ninth for his first save since Sept. 4, 2019.

Bieber had his second strong start of the season, fanning 12 and allowing just two runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. But the right-hander remains winless as the Indians continue to struggle at the plate through the season’s first week.

The right-hander extended his streak of striking out at least eight to 14 games, tying Corey Kluber’s club record.

Hall of Famer Randy Johnson holds the major league mark with 17 in a row.

The Indians only got three hits Monday, and they didn’t get a runner to second through the first five innings against Kansas City starter Jakob Junis, who was only slated to pitch a few innings in what was supposed to be a bullpen game.

“I thought I was going two innings,” said Junis, who gave up one hit in five innings. “I didn’t think in a million years I’d go five innings.”

It was 73 degrees and sunny when Bieber threw his first pitch, a 41-degree jump from opening day last week in Detroit, where he pitched in swirling snow over the first few innings.

Pérez ripped Bieber’s first pitch of the fourth into the trees beyond the center-field wall to put the Royals ahead 1-0.

With an early-season off day, half of Cleveland’s roster received COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday. Francona said the Cleveland Clinic administered the shots at Progressive Field.

Francona understands there may be players who don’t want to get vaccinated — for a variety of reasons.

“That’s everybody’s personal choice,” he said. “You can’t make somebody do that. That wouldn’t be right. I hope we get to a certain amount though, where we are able as a team to relax some of the restrictions. That would be helpful.”

Kansas City’s Carlos Santana received a warm ovation before his first at-bat in Monday’s opener as Cleveland fans thanked the popular first baseman for 10 seasons with the club.

“Respect,” Santana said when asked about the cheers. “Respect the fans, respect the team. Respect the city. Respect the organization that gave me the opportunity for 10 years.”

The Royals are opening the season with eight straight day games, the club’s longest run of afternoon baseball since 1979. Kansas City is scheduled to play 62 days games in 2021, which would match the 1971 Royals for the most in team history.

Morgan Brasser led the Tigers with a two-round total of 13-over 157, including an opening round 82 and a 3-over 75 in round two to finish in a tie for 14th. The freshman tied for 10th in the 70-player field with 20 pars on the week and 10th with four birdies. She had the fifth-best scoring average on the par 5s at 1-over, averaging 5.13 for the week. Brasser played her last nine holes in 2-under, helping her to a second-round 75, which was tied for the 10th best round of the week, helping her climb nine spots from the end of round one to the end of round two.

Kira Mestl improved by two strokes from round one to round two, following up an opening-day 85 with an 83 on Wednesday. She finished in a tie for 41st. The redshirt-sophomore played the par-3s in 3-over for the week, posting a team-low stroke average of 3.38 while tying for 15th in the field with 19 pars.

Kerrigan Rudolph finished in a tie for 57th after scores of 88 and 87 on the week. She ranked second on the team with two birdies on the week, including one in round one and one in round two.

Rogers State won the team title by two strokes after moving up four spots on day two, while Southwestern Oklahoma State's Megan Brown finished first individually with a two-round total of 3-over 147.

The Tigers are scheduled to wrap up the regular season at the Central Region Spring Preview next week (April 12-13) in Springfield, Mo. before heading to the MIAA Championships later this month (April 22-23).
