HAYS – Playing for the first time in nine days, the TMP-Marian softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep Thursday over Dodge City, 7-2 and 9-5 at TMP. The Monarchs improve to 6-4 on the season. They are scheduled to host Sacred Heart and Hays High on Thursday, April 28.
Game 1: TMP-Marian 7, Dodge City 2
The Monarchs
broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the third then scored four in
the fourth.
Alexa Ryersee doubled which scored Brooke Koeningsman with the go-ahead run in the third. Julianna Baalman followed with an RBI single which scored Baalman to give the Monarchs a 3-1 lead.
Jaci VonLintel drove in a run with a single in the fourth, Pinch-hitter Karli Komarek followed with a two-run double which scored Hannah Garcia and VonLintel. Komarek later scored on an error to push the TMP lead to 7-1.
Jaci VonLintel finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Karli Komarek drove in two.
Madison Augustine (5-4) picked up the complete game victory in the circle, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Game 2: TMP-Marian 9, Dodge City 5
Jaci VonLintel
went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs. Halle Dreiling homered and drove in two
as the Monarchs overcame an early two run deficit and built a 9-2 lead after five.
The Red Demons scored three in the top of the sixth but Madison Augustine (6-4) was able to end the comeback bid and picked up the complete game win.
Four of the Monarchs 11 hits went for extra bases. Hannah Garcia and Jaci VonLintel both had doubles, Brooke Koeningsman added a triple and Dreiling’s three-homer broke the 2-2 tie in the second.
