GREAT BEND - Hays High wrapped up Western Athletic Conference play with a single game at Great Bend Thursday. The game was moved up two hours with the threat of weather in the forecast.
The Great Bend offense was in high gear all afternoon as they beat Hays 11-2. The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead in the first, added six in the third and four more in the fifth. The Panthers had multiple base runners in five of the six innings they batted in. The Indians put just ten on the base paths.

Hays falls to 7-2 on the season and finishes WAC play at 6-2. Great Bend improves to 8-3, 5-2. The conference championship will come down to the upcoming result between the Panthers and Dodge City.
Hays is on the road Saturday to play DeSoto.
