Alfred J. “Al” Leiker, Jr., 84, Catharine, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home.

He was born September 25, 1940 in Hays, the son of Alfred J. “A.J.” and Ottilia “Tillie” (Staab) Leiker. Al graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City in 1958. In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in active duty until 1964, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a data processing manager at Koch Industries and retired as a data warehouse manager at Fort Hays State University. Al was very witty, could build almost anything, always kept a large garden, loved dancing and cooking, making the best popcorn and bacon, and was a great baseball and basketball coach.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Manning of Wichita and Lisa Westmoreland and husband J.B. of Tulsa, OK, a son, Nick Leiker and wife Dianne of Valley Center, a brother, Derald Leiker and wife Carol, two sisters, Joyce Crane and Patricia Vandenberg and husband Harold, seven grandchildren, Mikayla and Isaiah Lewis, Zachariah Westmoreland and wife Brandy, Karis Manning, Kennady Westmoreland, and Randi and Braden Leiker, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alfred J. “Joe” Leiker III, and a brother-in-law, Robert Crane.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastor Chad Pritchett officiating. Burial with military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard will follow in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at WaKeeney. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Toys for Tots. (Allen) Poyser, age 90, of Alma, Nebraska, formerly of Orleans, passed away

Alma.&nbsp; Dolores was born April 24, 1934 in

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On December 28,
1952, she was united in marriage to Keith Poyser at the First Christian Church,
Philipsburg, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Keanna, Debra, and
Craig. Dolores worked in the Norton County Hospital and the Phillips County
Hospital until 1955. In 1956, after Keith’s discharge from the service, Dolores
and Keith moved to the Poyser family farm located south of Orleans, Nebraska.
She enjoyed working alongside Keith on the farm. In 1970, they moved to Orleans
and she worked at the Harlan County Hospital. Then in 1974, she started working
at Becton Dickson and Company, retiring after 20 years of service.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After retirement,
Dolores and Keith ran their own lawn care service. Dolores was an active member
of the Orleans United Presbyterian Church helping with many funerals. She was a
member of the Harold Morin American Legion Post #184 Auxiliary and a very active
member of Al-Anon Fellowship group in Orleans for 40 years. Dolores and Keith
devoted many hours helping those in need. &nbsp;They also loved to go antiquing and just
taking drives around the country side.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dolores’ true joy
was her family. She loved making their favorite foods and keeping up with all
their accomplishments. Dolores was also well known around the community for her
love of people. She was happiest when working around family and friends.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was proceeded
in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 65 years; two brothers: &nbsp;Max Allen and his wife Verlene; and Ted Allen
and his wife Marilyn; in-laws, Arlan and Norma (Poyser) Butterfield; and Harry
and Mary Lou (Poyser) Hopson.

Dolores Mae (Allen) Poyser

Fr. Charles Lee Steier, beloved priest and dedicated servant of the Diocese of Salina, passed away on September 22, 2024, in Hays, Kansas. He was born on March 26, 1947, in Belleville, Kansas, to Melvin and Mildred (Kalivoda) Steier. Charlie grew up on a farm near Haddam, Kansas, as the oldest child, with five brothers and two sisters.

Fr. Steier pursued his calling with deep commitment, studying at St. Mary College in St. Mary, Kentucky; Immaculate Conception Seminary in Conception, Missouri; and Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained on June 8, 1973, by Bishop Cyril Vogel at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas.

Beginning with his first assignment in 1973 and concluding with his most recent in 2024, Fr. Steier served in various parishes. He began his priestly ministry serving as parochial vicar from 1973 to 1977, first at St. John the Baptist in Beloit and later at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Hays. Beginning in 1977, he went on to lead numerous parishes as a pastor, including St. Joseph in St. Joseph; St. Isidore in Cuba; Saints Philip and James in Phillipsburg; St. Mary in Smith Center; St. Francis in Claudell; St. Bernard in Ellsworth; St. Ignatius in Kanopolis; St. Mary in Holyrood; St. Mary Queen of Angels in Russell; and St. Mary Help of Christians in Gorham. His service as a pastor concluded in 2024 at Christ the King Parish in WaKeeney and St. Michael Parish in Collyer.

Fr. Charlie also served as the State Chaplain for the Kansas Knights of Columbus, Diocesan Moderator, Vicarate Moderator, and was a member of the Catholic Charities Board for many years. He was also elected to the Priests Council and the Personnel Board.

Fr. Steier’s unwavering faith and pastoral care touched countless lives over his 50 years of ministry. Fr. Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to his communities.

He is survived by four brothers: John Steier of Canton, Texas; Ed Steier and his wife, Linda, of Wichita, Kansas; Dale Steier and his wife, Kim, of Greeley, Colorado; and Guy Steier and his wife, Julie, of Clyde, Kansas. He is also survived by two sisters: Rita Steier of Timpson, Texas, and Denise New and her husband, Mike, of Burlington, Colorado. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Kim Steier, of Arlington, Texas; many nieces, nephews, friends, and the many parishioners who cherished his guidance and leadership. Fr. Charles Steier will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry; and an infant sister, Sue Carlyn.

Visitation will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 412 N 9th St., WaKeeney, KS, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Parish Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, located at 415 S Windsor St., Russell, KS, on Friday, September 27, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with interment at 4:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Clara, KS (north of Clifton, KS).

Fr. Charles Lee Steier

Lillian Von Lintel, 104, Oakley, passed away in Garden City, on September 17, 2024, leaving behind a family
of four children, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and eight
great-great grandchildren.

Lillian was born on February 9, 1920, on her family farm southwest of
Oakley to George and Bertha (Katzenmeier) Ehrlich. She attended 12 years of
school in Oakley and graduated in 1938. 

After graduation she moved to Ada, Oklahoma, where she attended East
Central Beauty College and received a Manager-Operator License. She took the
State Board Exam in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed. On August 26, 1938,
Lillian married her high school&nbsp;
sweetheart, Leo Von Lintel. They spent many loving years together until
his death in 1989.

She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oakley. Her
deep faith, family, and friends were her life.

Lillian loved poetry and in her later years started to write poetry
herself. She had two poems published, one in 2001 and one in 2002. She also
enjoyed playing Bridge, dancing with her husband, camping, and riding bikes.
Her family always came first, and after Leo died, they had yearly fun-filled
family reunions in different states, including Kansas.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Bertha Ehrlich;
sisters Viola, Clara, and Inez; brothers Donald and Norman; her husband, Leo
Von Lintel; her daughter, Carol Lynne Fisher; and her grandson, Christopher Von
Lintel (son of Lonnie).

Survivors include Lonnie Von Lintel (Maria), Miami, Florida; Lauren
Heskett (Wayne), Wamego;

Lea Ann Scott (Jesse), Garden City; and Lucia Von Lintel (Marge), Cairo,
New York.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Immanuel

Lillian Von Lintel

George Duane Harris passed away on August 23, 2024, at his home in Stockton, KS. He was born on August 28, 1943, in Stafford, Kansas to George William and Edna Pearl (Flanders) Harris.

Duane joined the U.S. Air Force in 1965. He served as a Staff-Sergeant in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he married Gloria Goddard on October 11, 1969, in Stockton. The couple moved to Teaneck, New Jersey where he worked for Sears and Roebuck as a Credit Sales Manager. While in New Jersey they we blessed with their first child, Edna. In 1972 they moved to Stockton and Duane worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. Their family welcomed their second child, Crystal, a short time later. Their family was completed upon the birth of their third child, Kirtis. Duane later transferred to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Division of Water Resources, where he retired. He enjoyed helping his mother-in-law with farm work for many years in his free time and continued helping with the farm for the remainder of his life.

While living in Stockton, he was actively involved in the community. He was a member of the Main Street Christian Church for many years and served as an elder and a board member. Later he transferred to the First Christian Church in Phillipsburg where he also served as an elder and board member. He was an active member of Stockton Lions Club until it disbanded after which he joined the Plainville Lions Club. He even served a term as District Governor with the Lions Club from 1989-1990. He also belonged to Gideons. As a dedicated citizen of Stockton, Duane was a key person in keeping the Stockton Food Pantry open and available for those in need until his health limited his participation.

Duane loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He especially enjoyed interacting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always got excited when one of them dropped by for a visit or when he was invited to any of their events. He always looked forward to his grandkids’ “Graduation Trips” where the grandkids got to go with them and do the planning and the driving. They were able to take trips to California, the Grand Canyon, PBR in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the Painted Dessert and Carlsbad Cavern, and even March Madness. He was determined to do these trips with all the grandkids. He was looking forward to two more such trips.

Cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks in football and basketball was a pastime he enjoyed with long-time friends Rocque Garcia and Dennis Bedore. They would often watch games together at home. They even took road trips to watch away games including Texas. Duane would watch just about any sport on TV, including golf.

Duane could be found in front of his own sewing machine piecing together quilt tops for his great-grandchildren and the little ones in church. Gloria was tasked with completing them. He usually had them piled up waiting for her to finish them.

Duane was a loving and devoted husband, and was blessed by three children, eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. All of whom will greatly miss his wisdom, love, and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Goodwin; sister, Sheryll White; and his twin sisters, Pauleen and Paulette Harris.

Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Gloria of the home in Stockton; children, Kirtis Harris (Kari) of Seward, NE, Edna Jenkins (Wayne) of Hill City, KS, and Crystal Kearns (Benjamin) of Phillipsburg, KS; eight grandchildren: Kassandra “Kasey” Grauerholz (Craig) of Kensington, KS, Caryssa McKinnon (John) of Linton, IN, Mary Benton (Brad) of Stockton, Andrew Johnson (fiancé Taylor) of LaCrosse, KS, Jacob Kearns of Phillipsburg, KS, Jarod Harris (Miranda) of Ann Harbor, MI, Krystyn Harris of High Point, NC, and George Jenkins Jr. of Hill City, KS; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Riffel (Jeanette) of Ness City; sister-in-law, Terrie Goddard of Salina, KS; ex son-in-law, Donald Johnson of LaCrosse, KS; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

George Duane Harris passed away on August 23, 2024, at his home in Stockton, KS. He was born on August 28, 1943, in Stafford, Kansas to George William and Edna Pearl (Flanders) Harris.Duane joined the U.S. Air Force in 1965. He served as a Staff-Sergeant in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he married Gloria Goddard on October 11, 1969, in Stockton. The couple moved to Teaneck, New Jersey where he worked for Sears and Roebuck as a Credit Sales Manager. While in New Jersey they we blessed with their first child, Edna. In 1972 they moved to Stockton and Duane worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. Their family welcomed their second child, Crystal, a short time later. Their family was completed upon the birth of their third child, Kirtis. Duane later transferred to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Division of Water Resources, where he retired. He enjoyed helping his mother-in-law with farm work for many years in his free time and continued helping with the farm for the remainder of his life.While living in Stockton, he was actively involved in the community. He was a member of the Main Street Christian Church for many years and served as an elder and a board member. Later he transferred to the First Christian Church in Phillipsburg where he also served as an elder and board member. He was an active member of Stockton Lions Club until it disbanded after which he joined the Plainville Lions Club. He even served a term as District Governor with the Lions Club from 1989-1990. He also belonged to Gideons. As a dedicated citizen of Stockton, Duane was a key person in keeping the Stockton Food Pantry open and available for those in need until his health limited his participation.Duane loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. George Duane Harris

Marion Gene Brooks, son of Frank Hobart Brooks and Minnie Leola Kesler Brooks, was born on October 14, 1928, on the family’s Gove County farm in the new house his father was building. He passed away on September 22, 2024, at the age of 95.

He graduated from Sunshine Grade School in rural Gove County, where he would walk three miles home from school with neighboring children when the weather was warm. Afterward, he began learning about farming. Later, he met Joyce Julianna Hammond while roller skating in WaKeeney. While dating, he learned that her birthday was October 13, one day before his, so they agreed to be married on October 15, 1950, at the Methodist Church in WaKeeney.

This union was blessed with four children: Gale Eugene, Charles (Chuck) Leon, Mark Franklin, and Rita Joyce.

As a teenager, Marion gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized. A member of the Dunkard Brethren Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer.

Marion enjoyed farming, painting, and constructing houses. He also worked for Midwest Products, Flex King Industries, and Quinstar for 29 years, and subsequently at the Swift Bullet Co. In his later years, he kept busy in his home shop, making various wooden gifts for family and friends.

Marion enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball and volleyball. He and Joyce traveled the world, visiting 35 countries. They especially appreciated river cruises and trips to the Holy Land. During retirement, they became "Winter Texans" in McAllen, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Eunice; sister, Leona Reed; and brother, Merlin Brooks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, and their children: Gale (Sherry), Chuck (Denise), Mark, and Rita (Mark Avila). His 13 grandchildren are Neysa (Steve Hodes), Rochelle (Jared Comfort), Taylor Brooks (Bonnie), Tauni (Nate Seyer), Melissa Whitaker, Melinda (Daniel Shinault), Bryon (Jessica Brooks), Bradley Brooks, Kristal (Garrett Werth), Jessica (Eric Jacques), Morgan (Mike Lawson), Andrew (Aaron Avila), and Matthew Avila.

His 32 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him “GGPa,” are Stevie, Peyton, Hudson, Kensington, Ocean, Indigo, Sapphire, Symphony, Midnight, Navy, Owen, Delaney, Avery, Makenna, Hannah, Caleb, Jaydon, Clara, Lexie, Kennedy, Sydney, Colt, Jordan, Bekah, Logan, Emery, Addilyn, Cooper, Colby, Evan, Cyrus, and Isla. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Paul (Terry Hammond) and Bill Reed, sister-in-law Janis Milwee, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, located at 901 South Main St., Quinter, KS, on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at Church of the Brethren, located at 700 Grant St., Quinter, KS, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with interment immediately following at Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter, KS.

Marion Gene Brooks

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of William Michael Schwarz, on September 19, 2024. Bill was beloved as a dad, grandpa, husband, brother, uncle and friend who positively touched the lives of everyone he met. His unexpected departure leaves a deep void in our hearts.

Bill was born on October 6, 1946, in Colby, Kansas; the second of Fred and Marie (Moellering) Schwarz’s five children. He enjoyed riding horses as he was raised on a farm outside Angelus, KS. While attending grade school in Angelus, a 4H chapter was available for a couple of years. Bill picked out one of his dad’s steers to raise. FLECK was so calm that he became a family pet, and Bill gave his siblings rides on his back. All three at the same time. Fleck was reserve grand champion at the county fair, and after the auction, tears flowed every time he saw cattle. He excelled in high school at St Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays, KS, where he was a top marksman on the school’s rifle team. Upon completion of high school, he helped build I-70 from Goodland to Russell, KS and joined the Kansas National Guard in Colby. He then became a mechanic for Hooker Chevy-Olds in Oakley, and soon met the love of his life, Linda Sidles. They were married on July 13, 1968, and lived in Oakley their entire married lives. Bill and Linda could be found at a lake fishing and camping most weekends, even after 6-day work schedules! They hosted many fish fries with their bountiful catches. Soon after their marriage, Bill joined Oakley’s Volunteer Fire Department which had recently added rural firefighting equipment. He was still a proud member after 55 years of service, possibly the longest in the department’s history!

Bill and Linda opened a BIG A parts store in 1985, switching to NAPA in 1999. They expanded services like making hydraulic hoses, turning brake rotors, and rebuilding alternators to better serve the community. Quality customer service included a bag of popcorn or a knife sharpening. They ran the store together until selling it in 2008. He continued working at NAPA for a few years after the sale. In retirement, Bill loved to help farmers at harvest time, hauling many loads of wheat and corn. He also helped check and service oil wells in the Oakley area up to the present time. He loved driving around the countryside, seeing wildlife, and how the crops were doing. Checking wells was a great way to do that.

After repairing a pickup which was traded in at Hooker’s and entering it at a truck and tractor pull at the county fair in 1979, he was smitten with a desire to build a competitive 4wd pulling pickup. He remembered towing a 62 Chevy with a blown engine off the highway which wasn’t worth fixing a few years before. He scrounged junk yards to find it and other parts, and since everything for his pulling pickup came from a junk yard except for the tires, he appropriately named his 62 Chevy the “Junk Yard Dog” and began pulling with it in 1980. He and the ‘Dog’ were season points champions more often than not and have been a crowd favorite ever since. Bill became a respected member and friend to all in the pulling circuit, always willing to help his fellow competitors, but keeping a few secrets that were learned the hard way! He rarely divulged his gear ratio, tire pressures, or that his engine developed over 1700 HP. How much more - we can only guess!! Be assured that everything on the Dog was legal because Bill’s code of honor would not allow anything else.

When God looked at Bill, we think He smiled, because what He saw was a person who put ‘other’s needs’ above his own ‘wants’, a person who ‘gave’ much more than he ‘took’, and one who respected others even if they didn’t share the same views. Bill cared deeply for his family, especially his 7 grandchildren, being their ‘go to’ sitter, and attended as many of their school and sporting events as possible – the seven grand’s events kept him busy! He loved them all as they were his greatest joy! He could be found at The Bluff most days since 1998 when Brian opened it and later when BJ took ownership - either eating - visiting - - - or fixing something. There were very few things that Bill couldn’t fix around a house, yard, equipment at a business or farm, or on a vehicle. He even modified his motor home/semi to run on recycled cooking oil! Thanks, BJ, for supplying fuel to get to his truck pulls.

Bill is survived by sons Brian (Lexy) Schwarz of Salina (grandsons Brazyn and Boxtyn) and Bradley (Alisha) Schwarz of Oakley (grandchildren Adisyn, William, Jacob, Matthew, and Zachary), sister Mary Lou (Rick) Mastin of Hays, brother Larry (Ann) Schwarz of Fort Collins, CO, and sister Betty (Terry) Hockersmith of Oakley along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Freddie, parents Fred and Marie (Moellering) Schwarz and his wife Linda (Sidles) Schwarz.

Fulfilling Bill’s desire to be an organ donor, the life of a 62-year-old man has already been extended from a liver transplant. We are awaiting news of other recipients who will also benefit from the unselfish giving of William Michael Schwarz. Bill’s profound impact on others continues to leave a rich legacy.

Bill will be honored at the Homecoming Parade in Oakley on Friday afternoon, September 27th, 2024. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. William "Bill" Michael Schwarz

Jared Lee Rein, age 44 died at his home on September 19, 2024. He was born June 5, 1980, in Ness City, Kansas the son of Joel and Pamela (Munsch) Rein.

He is survived by his father, Joel Rein (Denise) of Hutchinson, a sister, Brandy Rein (Adonis, Evan, and Eryn) of Florida, and brothers, Rob Rein (Jessica, Jenna, Avre, and Brekin) of Wichita, Chad Lang (Jennifer and Jaden) of Manhattan and raised by mother, Roberta Rein of El Dorado. &nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela S. (Munsch) Rein and all four beloved grandparents.

He graduated from Lyons High School in 1999. &nbsp;Jared worked 22 years in the quality aerospace industry in Wichita. &nbsp;He loved sports, guns, all his dogs (Lexis, Rush, and Sapphire), his Camero and good food. &nbsp;His favorite teams are KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football.

A rosary will be held on Friday evening September 27th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. in Ness City and mass will be held on September 28th at 10:30 a.m. with inurnment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ness City.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart Church or school in Ness City, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church or school in Wichita, or any local animal rescue.

He was born June 5, 1980, in Ness City, Kansas the son of Joel and Pamela (Munsch) Rein.He is survived by his father, Joel Rein (Denise) of Hutchinson, a sister, Brandy Rein (Adonis, Evan, and Eryn) of Florida, and brothers, Rob Rein (Jessica, Jenna, Avre, and Brekin) of Wichita, Chad Lang (Jennifer and Jaden) of Manhattan and raised by mother, Roberta Rein of El Dorado. &nbsp;He is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela S. (Munsch) Rein and all four beloved grandparents.He graduated from Lyons High School in 1999. &nbsp;Jared worked 22 years in the quality aerospace industry in Wichita. &nbsp;He loved sports, guns, all his dogs (Lexis, Rush, and Sapphire), his Camero and good food. &nbsp;His favorite teams are KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football.A rosary will be held on Friday evening September 27th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. in Ness City and mass will be held on September 28th at 10:30 a.m. with inurnment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ness City.Memorial contributions may be given to the Sacred Heart Church or school in Ness City, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church or school in Wichita, or any local animal rescue.

Ronald D. Eckels, son of William and Ruth (Hetzel) Eckels, began his earthly journey April 23, 1939 in Trego County, Kansas and was called home on September 21, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was educated in Ness County and graduated from NCHS in 1957. He played football and enjoyed being in the band. After high school, Ron attended Hutchinson Community College, then joined the United States Navy in 1959. He served on the USS Forrestal and completed several Mediterranean tours. His service was extended until 1963 because of the Cuban Missile Crisis.&nbsp;

In June 1963, he married Jan Clouston of Ness City. To this union was born Joy Cooper (David) of Shawnee, Kansas, William Eckels (Kim) of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Eckels (Stacie) of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Melody Fisher (Nolan) of Holyrood, Kansas. Ron en­joyed his six granddaughters: Kathryn Cooper, Emily Eckels-David­son (Tim), MaKenzie Cooper, Grace Eckels, Kristen Eckels, and So­nora Fisher.&nbsp;

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Ron is sur­vived by his siblings, Kay Wasinger, Jerry Eckels (Ann), Linda Schneider (Don), and William Eckels (Connette), a brother-in-law, Jim Clouston, and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Kristen Eckels; a sister, Cary Gay Eckels; a brother-in-law, Wilbur Wasinger; and a niece, Lori Clouston.&nbsp;

From 1966 to 1992, Ron and Jan lived on the family farm where they raised their four children. Together, they enjoyed sports, Saddle Club, and 4-H. The house was always full of music! After the family moved to Ness City in 1992, Ron worked at USD 303 in Maintenance. Later on, he did carpentry work, remodeled houses, restored old pick­ups, and made numerous musical instruments. He also carved bears (and other animals as requested). He and Jan enjoyed going to area craft fairs with his creations. You will still see bears around Ness City that Ron carved.&nbsp;

Ron and Jan were members of the Praise Team for many years and sang in several area churches. There wasn’t a stringed instrument that Ron couldn’t play, and he sang for many weddings, funerals, and celebrations. He and Jan often sang for residents at Long Term Care.&nbsp;

He was a member of Ness City Methodist Church, The American Legion, Ness City Saddle Club and a 4-H Leader. He served 12 years as Commissioner of the First District of Ness County. Ron was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.&nbsp;

Because of health issues, Ron and Jan had recently moved to Wichita to be near family. Ron will be dearly missed by friends and family, but we know he is home now, happy, and probably building a beautiful place for the rest of us. We thank the Lord for helping us through this time. Victory is Ron’s!&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life for Ron will take place at a later date.&nbsp;

Mary Lois Parkhurst, 95, of
Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday September 22, 2024, at the Main Street Manor in
Russell, Kansas.

Mary was born on February 01,
1929, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Carl W. and Olinda (Krug)
Kilian.&nbsp; She grew up in Russell and
graduated from Russell High School in 1948.&nbsp;
She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to James Lee Parkhurst
on April 03, 1949, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;
From this union Mary and James were blessed with four children Pam,
Daniel, Julie and Laura.&nbsp; 

Mary was an avid Bridge and
Canasta Player, she enjoyed playing golf, walking, knitting, crocheting, cross
stitching and sewing.&nbsp; She also liked
watching KU Basketball and loved spending time with her son and daughters, her
5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the United
Methodist Church in Pratt, Ks where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible
school.&nbsp; Most recently she renewed her
membership to her childhood church, The St. John Lutheran Church in Russell KS
where she was baptized and completed Confirmation in 1943.

She was also a lifetime member of
both the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW in Russell, Ks.&nbsp; She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and
Russell Community Theater in Russell.

She volunteered to deliver Meals
on Wheels and helped at the Russell County Food Pantry.&nbsp; 

She worked as an office and
catalog department clerk at JCPenney’s in Pratt and as an accounting clerk for
Woolwines Automotive Supply, also in Pratt.&nbsp;


She is survived by her four
children, daughter Pam Parkhurst of Wichita, Kansas; son Daniel Parkhurst of
Russell, Kansas; and daughters Julie Hamm and husband Mark of Moriarty, New
Mexico and Laura Coon and husband Jan of Spirit Lake, Iowa.; brother Richard
Kilian of Russell, Kansas and sister Karen Stafford and husband Jim of Phoenix,
Arizonia; 5 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband James, brother Frank Kilian and sister Doris Jones.

A memorial service to celebrate
Mary’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 27, 2024, at
the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Teri Sutherlin
officiating.&nbsp; Cremation has been selected
by the family and she will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt,
Kansas. &nbsp;Family will greet guests the day
of the service at the church.&nbsp; Memorials
may be given to the Main Street Manor and sent in care of the mortuary.

June Isabelle Loveridge, 97, peacefully entered eternal rest on
August 17th, 2024. June was born in Ellis, Kansas on June 24, 1927, to John and
Inez Lonnon. She was a graduate of Ellis High School and also attended and
graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Denver
Colorado.

On September 5, 1948, June married her husband of 60 years, Doyle
Loveridge at Ellis Methodist Church. They had their first child, Debra in 1951,
followed by Doug (1953), Glenn (1958) and James (1962). June and Doyle were
lifelong members of the Methodist Church, where June sang in the choir for 30
years. June and her family lived in Kansas, Missouri, Maryland and Colorado
before retiring in Port Isabelle, Texas for 27 years. During retirement, June
took up painting, golfing and became an active member of the community.

June was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was the
ultimate team player and would adjust to the situation, whether it was wingman
to her outgoing husband or as caretaker in his later years. She adored her
sister and 3 brothers growing up in Ellis and cherished the family holiday
gatherings. June was a kind, compassionate mother to her four children and will
be missed by all.

June was preceded in death by her husband Doyle, her sister Zoe
and her three brothers, Eugene, John and Merle. June is survived by her four
children: Debra (Terry), Doug (Linda), Glenn (Patty) and James (Joan), her 8
grandchildren: Isaac, Adrian (Laura), Monica (Bill), Bryan (Heidi), Mallory
(Alex), Andrew, Alyssa (Chase) and Claire and 5 great grandchildren.

June Isabelle Loveridge

Dorothy Emma (Schmidt) Almquist, 100, La Crosse, Kansas,
passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital,
Larned, Kansas.

Dorothy was born
March 1, 1924, in rural McCracken, Kansas, the daughter of John Frederick and
Mollie (Rein) Schmidt.&nbsp; Her parents died
when she was very young, and Dorothy and her brothers, Raymond John Schmidt,
and Paul Michael Schmidt, were raised by their grandmother, Susanna Schmidt, as
well as her Uncle Bill and Aunt Regina.&nbsp; Dorothy attended a one room schoolhouse known
as Brown School, District #2, north of Hargrave, from 1st through 8th
grade.&nbsp; Dorothy was the salutatorian of
the La Crosse Rural High School class of 1941.&nbsp;
She graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, Kansas, with
a secretarial degree, and was employed at Kansas Power Company, Great Bend,
Kansas, for four years.&nbsp; 

Dorothy’s adventurous
spirit led her to Portland, Oregon in 1946.&nbsp;
While there, she enjoyed her professional career as a legal secretary
and spending time outdoors snow skiing and going to the beach.&nbsp; She had 12 years of many fond memories of
enjoying life with friends.

During a visit back
home to Kansas, a reconnection with a childhood acquaintance turned into a
courtship.&nbsp; On November 8, 1958, she
married Arthur “Kenneth” Almquist at Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Oregon.&nbsp; They returned to Kansas where they made their
home for over 50 years before Kenneth’s death October 4, 2009.

Dorothy was baptized
and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Alexander, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a member of First Lutheran Church,
WELCA, Sixty Plus Club, and VFW Post #9076 Auxiliary, all of La Crosse.&nbsp; She was also involved in the election board,
blood bank, Rush County Food Bank, and delivered Meals on Wheels.&nbsp; 

Dorothy loved her
home and took great pride in taking care of it.&nbsp;
She made her home a treasured gathering place for friends and family.

Survivors
include:&nbsp; one son, Brent Almquist of
Clinton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Diane (Ken) Albin of Austin, Texas; three
grandchildren, Clay Almquist of Clinton, Oklahoma, Katherine (Quinlan) Albin
Koch of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Emma Albin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two great
grandchildren, Zayden Almquist and Zianna Almquist, both of Clinton, Oklahoma;
three nephews, Danny (Debbie) Schmidt, Greg (Dawn) Schmidt, Gary (Karen)
Schmidt, and their families; and cousin, Dave (Marietta) Wilson and family.

She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Sue Ann Almquist; her
daughter-in-law, Virginia Gail Almquist; one grandson, Charlie Dale Almquist;
two brothers and sister-in-law, Raymond John Schmidt, and Paul Michael Schmidt and
wife Jeanie; two nephews Dennis Schmidt and Donald Schmidt; and an infant
half-sister.

Visitation will be
Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Janousek
Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 5:00
P.M. to 7:00 P.M. 

Church visitation
will be Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at the First
Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will
be Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church, La
Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Phyllis Burdge officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the La Crosse City
Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

a secretarial degree, and was employed at Kansas Power Company, Great Bend,
Kansas, for four years.&nbsp; Dorothy’s adventurous
spirit led her to Portland, Oregon in 1946.&nbsp;
While there, she enjoyed her professional career as a legal secretary
and spending time outdoors snow skiing and going to the beach.&nbsp; She had 12 years of many fond memories of
enjoying life with friends.During a visit back
home to Kansas, a reconnection with a childhood acquaintance turned into a
courtship.&nbsp; On November 8, 1958, she
married Arthur “Kenneth” Almquist at Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Oregon.&nbsp; They returned to Kansas where they made their
home for over 50 years before Kenneth’s death October 4, 2009.Dorothy was baptized
and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Alexander, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a member of First Lutheran Church,
WELCA, Sixty Plus Club, and VFW Post #9076 Auxiliary, all of La Crosse.&nbsp; She was also involved in the election board,
blood bank, Rush County Food Bank, and delivered Meals on Wheels.&nbsp; Dorothy loved her
home and took great pride in taking care of it.&nbsp;
She made her home a treasured gathering place for friends and family.Survivors
include:&nbsp; one son, Brent Almquist of
Clinton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Diane (Ken) Albin of Austin, Texas; three
grandchildren, Clay Almquist of Clinton, Oklahoma, Katherine (Quinlan) Albin
Koch of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Emma Albin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two great
grandchildren, Zayden Almquist and Zianna Almquist, both of Clinton, Oklahoma;
three nephews, Danny (Debbie) Schmidt, Greg (Dawn) Schmidt, Gary (Karen)
Schmidt, and their families; and cousin, Dave (Marietta) Wilson and family.She was preceded in

Dorothy Emma (Schmidt) Almquist

It is with tremendously heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jay Dean Nickelson, 40, a beloved son, endearing husband, phenomenal father, and timeless friend. He departed this world September 19, 2024.

October 12, 1983, Jay was born to Oren and Diana (Keith) Nickelson in Hill City, Kansas. Even before he was old enough to walk, Jay was able to captivate the masses with his dimpled grin. He and his older brother, Jarrod, would eagerly explore the farm and embark on exploratory outings any chance they had, often causing their mother to panic. As Jay grew older, so intensified his ornery nature and sense of adventure. He would brave nature and spend hours playing outside, making friends with wildlife, including his childhood pet racoon, Sammy. Diana taught Jay to dance at an early age. This led to a love of dancing and many polka turns around the dance floor for years to come. Even at a young age, he was a favorite among his peers. He could talk anyone into joining his causes or nefarious shenanigans, convincing others by means of contagious grin and infectious laughter. He would share stories with classmates and friends about the farm, especially about his pets and the many rattlesnakes. He participated in little league wrestling and made it to the State Championship in 1996. He brought immeasurable joy to those around him, always finding ways to create fun and mischief, even in the most inappropriate places (just ask his schoolteachers).

Jay’s teenage years continued with laughter, adventure, and a love for life that never waned. He was also a great pole vaulter, earning second place at the Kansas State Track Meet his junior year of high school; unfortunately, his senior season was cut short when his pole broke, resulting in a broken ankle. Jay also exuded pride for his high school ride—a ’79 Bronco that he hoped to restore someday. Overall, Jay enjoyed being among friends and family. He often reminisced about the many fun ski trips he took. To be honest, most of the stories cannot be safely shared in a public setting today. However, these stories were always best told by Jay.

In 2002, Jay graduated from Hill City High School and went on to complete the Power Lineman program at Pratt Community College in 2004. He was then and remains today a favorite among the masses.

Jay shared a profound bond with both Diana and Oren, whom he lost in 2004. These relationships shaped his values, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a determination to live life to the fullest. His passion for farming and cattle was evident from an early age; he cherished the opportunity to build a farming and cattle operation alongside his mother on the very land that has been in the Keith family for generations. Jay and Diana had a special relationship not just as mother and son but as friends and business partners, up to the very end.

An avid motorcyclist, Jay was a proud member of the self-proclaimed SHOZNBOX gang, where he shared countless exhilarating rides and unforgettable memories with friends. Additionally, his commitment to community was showcased during his decade-long service on the Graham County Fair Board, where he helped create memories for many, particularly during the annual Tuff Trux events. He helped others in their time of need, and he brought people together – oftentimes through animated sarcastic storytelling and acts of kindness.

Jay was a wild one no one would ever settle down until he met the love of his life Whitney DuBois in late 2008. Jay and Whitney shared many fun memories with friends, bike trips to Sturgis and Colorado and countless weekends running wells, checking cows and country cruising. The two were married in a beautiful one-of-a-kind ceremony at the family farm June 6, 2015. Jay was full of charm, always quick to give loving compliments, and more than a few smart ass jokes to Whitney, always knowing how to make her smile.

Together they created a loving family. Jay was a wonderful father to their three beautiful children: daughters Kimber (7) and Remington (6), and son Gatlin Oren (2), Jay took immense pride in his children, always eager to share the values and traditions that shaped his own life. Teaching them the joys of country living, he instilled a strong work ethic that would guide them through their journeys. Every step of the way, Jay navigated life with humor and sarcasm; even at the most inappropriate times, he would delight those around him with jokes that only Jay could formulate.

Whether it was ranger rides to check cows, visiting friends that are more like family, or simply enjoying the beauty of the farm, he cherished every moment spent with his family. His legacy will live on in his children as they carry forward and practice his valuable lessons of hard work, resilience, and simple pleasures of rural life.

Although Jay never seemed to be in a hurry, as he always had time to converse with everyone, he was passionate about his work and was a true perfectionist at heart. Jay believed that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right.

This dedication to quality was evident in every aspect of his life, including his farming and cattle practices, every straight fence line on the cattle working barn he built in 2017, after visiting 10+ barns to get his plans just right, of course. Jay farm, the corrals he built and welded, and the amazing also ran a successful oil pumping business in Graham, Sheridan and Gove Counties. His quality work paying off with new wells being offered on his very last day.

His social nature drew people to him; he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His personality matched his one-in-a-million smile that was punctuated with dimples and glimmered with kindness. He lit up a room simply by being in it. His dimples often got him both in and out of trouble. Jay’s presence was always uplifting; his joy for life, appreciation for simplicity, and his love for family and friends made him one of a kind. There will never be another like Jay, but his actions and memory will inspire others to move and act as he did—with unwavering kindness, genuine character, and vibrant spirit.

Jay was preceded in death by his father Oren Dean Nickelson and his older brother Jarrod Nickelson, his father-in-law, Dave DuBois, and a niece Danielle DuBois. Jay is survived by his loving wife, Whitney; his three beautiful children, Kimber, Remington and Gatlin; and his mother, Diana Nickelson, all of Penokee; mother-in-law Tami DuBois, and Vance; nieces and nephews Corgan, Caine, Cope Nickelson, Abby, Madi, Aubrey, and Drew DuBois; Teigen, and Grayson DuBois. He is also survived by countless friends and family who were blessed to know him.

Jay took immense pride in the farm wanting the important events in his life on this sentimental ground. Following Jays’ wishes, he will be laid to rest in a private burial service in the pasture overlooking the farm that he had worked so hard for.

Jay Dean Nickelson

Lavesta Mae (Enslow) Binder, age 90, of Colby, Kansas, passed away on September 20,2024. She was born on July 26, 1934, in Lakin, Kansas. Lavesta was the youngest of six children born to Phil and Ruby (Wiatt) Enslow. Lavesta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took immense pride in her family.

Lavesta met the love of her life, Jim Binder, at the Kansas State Fair. She knew it was love at first sight. Jim and Lavesta were married October 9, 1955, and later made their permanent home in Colby KS. To this union five children were born, Roger Dale, Robert Allen, Ronald Wayne, Laura Ann and Lynette Marie. Jim and Lavesta were married 44 years before the Lord called Jim home.

Lavesta dedicated close to 50 years of her life to nursing. She earned her nursing diploma from Grace School of Nursing in Hutchinson, KS, in 1955 and worked at hospitals in Hutchinson, St. Thomas Hospital and Citizen's Medical Center in Colby. Lavesta's passion for caring for others was evident throughout her career.

Outside of her professional life, Lavesta had a variety of interests and hobbies. She enjoyed arts and crafts, particularly painting Santa Clauses, as well as sewing and quilting. Lavesta's creativity and talent shone through her artistic endeavors.

Lavesta was a devoted member of Colby United Methodist Church, where she found solace and community. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found comfort in her religious community.

Lavesta was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her son Roger; granddaughter Rebecca; her parents, Phil and Ruby Enslow; brothers, Roy Enslow, Leonard Enslow, Leslie Enslow and Dallas Enslow and sister Twila Woods.

Lavesta is survived by and will be deeply missed, by her children, Robert (Cindy) Binder, Ron (Tera) Binder, Laura (Troy) Bosserman, and Lynette (Bo) Downs and daughter-in-law Robin Binder. She was a cherished grandmother/great grandmother to Kally Binder, Anna (Adam) McAsey and children Aiden and Adelyn, Eric Binder and JJ Schutz, Donnie Binder, Heather Binder and children Jaxsyn and Connor, Shelly Binder, Wiatt (Margret) Binder and children Finn and Rose, Jonathan (Nastasja) Bosserman and daughter Hattie, Tom (Rianon) Franklin and children Bruce and Maverick, Kathe Franklin (Chris Puentes) and children Sophia and Rey, Malea (William) Barrett and children Mason, Rosaleigh, Christian and Thomas. Lavesta Mae (Enslow) Binder

Karen Kay (LeRoy) Westhusin passed away on September 21, 2024, at Redbud Village in Plainville, KS, at the age of 60. She was born on October 21, 1963, to Kenneth Ray and Orpha Alice (Witt) LeRoy in Great Bend, KS. Karen married Fred R. Westhusin on December 29, 1995, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. They were blessed with two children: Isaac and Kathryn.

Karen grew up on a farm by Hudson, KS. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1982. She then attended Barton Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.

From a young age, Karen’s passion for flowers blossomed during a floral class in high school, sparking a lifelong dream of owning a flower shop. She brought that dream to life by crafting her own wedding flowers. Karen was skilled in various crafts, including knitting and crocheting, often creating heartfelt gifts for family and friends.

An active volunteer, Karen dedicated her time to the local food pantry, blood drives, and funeral dinners, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. She also served as past member of the DOI and was a member of the Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary.

Outside her professional and volunteer endeavors, Karen cherished moments spent camping, attending the Rooks County Fair where her children showcased their animals, and traveling to visit family. She had a special tradition of baking and mailing sugar cookies to her nieces and nephews on Valentine’s Day and holidays, spreading sweetness and love.

Karen leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Karen is survived by her husband, Fred of Natoma, KS; children, Isaac and Kathryn Westhusin both of Plainville; brother, Mike (Jessie) LeRoy of St. John, KS; sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Hinde of Windsor, CO and Kristy (Mark) Moore of Shawnee, KS; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Tillie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Orpha LeRoy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10:30AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Visitation will be on Wednesday, 6-8PM with a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7PM at the Church.

Karen was skilled in various crafts, including knitting and crocheting, often creating heartfelt gifts for family and friends.An active volunteer, Karen dedicated her time to the local food pantry, blood drives, and funeral dinners, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. She also served as past member of the DOI and was a member of the Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary.Outside her professional and volunteer endeavors, Karen cherished moments spent camping, attending the Rooks County Fair where her children showcased their animals, and traveling to visit family. She had a special tradition of baking and mailing sugar cookies to her nieces and nephews on Valentine’s Day and holidays, spreading sweetness and love.Karen leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.Karen is survived by her husband, Fred of Natoma, KS; children, Isaac and Kathryn Westhusin both of Plainville; brother, Mike (Jessie) LeRoy of St. John, KS; sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Hinde of Windsor, CO and Kristy (Mark) Moore of Shawnee, KS; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Tillie.She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Orpha LeRoy.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10:30AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Janet Juneil Holmes McDowell, daughter of Erma Twila Burgess Holmes and Garth Macy Holmes was born on November 23, 1935 in rural Smith Center. Janet departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2024 at the age of 88 years at Smith Center Health and Rehabilitation.

Janet grew up on the family farm south of Smith Center, Kansas, surrounded by three siblings making for a lively household. As third of four stair stepdaughters, Janet was active in the many household chores of the day. While living on the farm, Janet often recalled walking over the hill to school. Janet then stayed in town during the weekdays to attend high school.

Janet met the love of her life at a local dance. Janet married Duane Alvin ‘John’ McDowell on August 1, 1954. They made their home in Smith Center and later purchased the farm of Chris and Mary Frydendall north of Bellaire. They raised their four children: Lana, Lori, Lance and Lia.

Janet was active in her church; the Smith Center Congregational Church, as Sunday School teacher and choir member. Janet was also active in Custer Bible Study and ladies groups including playing bridge weekly and bowling. Later in life, Janet enjoyed singing with the Lebanon Music Club. While raising her family, she also traveled with John as he coached the Lebanon Women’s Softball team building lifelong relationships with these women as the entire family traveled and participated.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved John, grandchildren Trevor and Travis Wells and his son in law Randall LaDow. Left to cherish Janet’s memory are children Lana Wells (Stephen), Lori LaDow, Lance McDowell (Theresa), Lia Post (Daryl), grandchildren Trent Wells (Keren), Taryn Peterson (CJ), (Annette Wells), Dana Sinauleni (Boykin), Derik LaDow (Elise), Darcy LaDow, Jacqueline McDowell Dues, Mariah McDowell, Jonathon Cole McDowell (Shelby), Andre Cale McDowell, Ryan Post (Lisa), Lacy Muller (Max), Jay Post (Lycan), and 24 great-grandchildren and a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Phillipsburg resident, Bernettia “Bert” Follis passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 92.

She was born August 27, 1932 in Kirwin, KS the daughter of Jess W. and Myrtle E. (Power) Sherling.

Follis. &nbsp;He survives.Other survivors include a daughter Menta Macy and husband Don of Owatonna, MN; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 6 great great granddaughters.Cremation was planned. &nbsp;A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
