Dorothy M. Lang, 95, Catharine, died Friday, September 18, 2026 at Via Christi Village.
She was born February 13, 1931 in Catharine, the youngest child of Justus P. and Bertha (Staab) Walters. On October 18, 1949 she was united in marriage to Anthony F. “Tony” Lang, and they celebrated nearly 47 years of marraige before he preceded her in death on September 14, 1996. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, St. Catherine Christian Mothers Altar Society, St. John’s Auxiliary, Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, and the VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was a loving and devoted farmwife and homemaker, and she enjoyed making tons of noodles for many people and businesses.
Survivors include her sons Tom Lang and wife Joyce, Randy Lang and wife Jackie, her daughters Sharon Haas and husband John, Karen Jacobs and husband Ken, all of Hays, her grandchildren Jennifer Leiker (Wes), Denise Mulvenon (Curtis), Rachel Augustine (Ryan), Amber Lang, Ashley Buffington (Kyle), Justin Haas (Tammy), Darin Haas (Jamie), Eric Haas (Jessica), Cole Lang (Ashley), and Brandi Lang, 17 great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony, her brothers Florence, Paul, Baby Rudolf, Rupert, Romuald, Rudolph, Francis, Alfred, and Alexius Walters, her sisters Amelia Cole, Helen Steckline, Adelaide Dinkel, Bertie Lang, and Shirley Weigel, and two granddaughters Jessica Jacobs and Nicole Lang.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Fr. Earl Befort officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Thursday at the church in Catherine. A combined Daughters of Isabella and VFW Auxiliary Rosary will be at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30, all on Wednesday at the funeral home.
