Sandra Jolene “Sandie” Guthrie, 74, Hays, died Friday, September 11, 2026 at her home.
She was born October 9, 1951 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Joel Ernest and Evelyn Louise (Lyday) Guthrie. Sandie graduated from Centralia High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Murray State University in Kentucky. In 1971, she married Stephen Cosgriff in Kentucky, and they later divorced. Sandie was a department manager at Wal-Mart and she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She enjoyed listening to Beatles music, watching sports, and was an avid Atlanta Braves and KU basketball fan. Sandie sewed for her family and while her daughters were in school she was a PTA volunteer.
Survivors include her five daughters Jennifer Fields of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jessica Dierking and husband Mark of Ulysses, Stephanie Cosgriff of Lawrence, Shandra Cosgriff of Hays, and Juliann Cosgriff of Salina, and her grandchildren Lexsi, Garrett, Tristan, Corban, Joelynn, Oliver, Teddy, Riley, Keelan, Lilly, Jackson, Mela, River, Ashley, Evan, Justin, Brigham, Anny, Harmony, and Brighton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Lyndon.
