Hamel, went to her heavenly home on June 17, 2020. She was born on June 
2, 2020 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.	
 She is survived by her parents, Brandon and Lindsey Hamel of Damar; 
brothers, Rylan “Bubba” Hamel, Weston “Hambone” Hamel, and Layton “Bear”
 Hamel; maternal grandparents, Leo and Claudette Graham; paternal 
grandparents Larry Hamel and Lorie Hamel; great-grandparents, Alvin 
Hamel and Barbara Hamel; aunts and uncles, Eric and Shondra Haussermann

Averyn Leigh Hamel

James W. Mattke, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at 
Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; Jim was born 
July 20, 1933, on the family homestead near Ogallah, Kansas, to Paul 
Mattke and Gladys Pierce.

He graduated from Trego Community High School in 1951.&nbsp; Upon 
graduation, he enlisted in the United State Air Force. At age 20, he 
married Beverly Mae Sellers on May 23, 1954, in WaKeeney, KS.&nbsp; Jim and 
Bev then returned to Travis Air Force Base, California, where their 
first son, Scott D Mattke was born.&nbsp; Two weeks after his transfer to 
Nebraska, their daughter, Kathrine K. Mattke was born.&nbsp; The family moved
 to England for four years where their two youngest sons, Charles E 
Mattke and Steven L Mattke, were born.&nbsp; While in Europe they traveled to
 Holland, Scotland and France.&nbsp; They returned to the United States until
 1968 when Jim was transferred to Guam, USA, where they lived for three 
years and nine months.&nbsp; During their time on Guam, they were able to 
visit Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan and Okinawa.&nbsp; 
Jim was then transferred back to the United States retired from the 
United States Air Force in 1972.

After Jim’s retirement, they returned to WaKeeney, Kansas, where Jim 
was a partner in D. J. Flowers for several years.&nbsp; In 1980, they moved 
to West Plains, Missouri, where they enjoyed water skiing, wood working,
 horseback riding and showing Fox Trotting horses.&nbsp; After Bev passed 
away on June 20, 2003, Jim returned to WaKeeney in 2005.

Jim is survived by his three sons, Scott (Georgianna) of Wichita, KS,
 Chuck (Lori) of Ogallah, KS, Steve (Marjorie) of Augusta, KS; daughter,
 Kathrine Simonsen of Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Crystle Mattke 
(Tony Cady), Springfield, MO, Cory Mattke, Augusta, Ks, Susan (Dylan) 
Strawn, Wichita, KS; Casey (Kambi) Mattke, Savage, MN, Eve Simonsen, 
Leesville, SC, and Melia (Brandon) Washington, Spring, TX; eleven 
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. &nbsp;Also surviving are 
his brothers, Clifford of Independence, Mo and Frank (Nancy) of Andover,
 KS.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leo Mattke and Jourdan Mattke.

A memorial service with full military honors (hosted by the Kansas 
Veterans' Cemetery) will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020, 
at the WaKeeney Veterans’ Cemetery.&nbsp;

Wendeline “Wendy” Gerstner, age 99, of Collyer, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born April 8, 1921, in Shallow Water, Kansas, to Jacob and Marcianna (Rohleder) Gerstner.

Wendy was a graduate of Collyer High School.&nbsp; On November 7, 1942, he was united in marriage to Appolonia “Abby” Katzendorn, in San Diego, California.&nbsp; She passed away on June 1, 2002.&nbsp; They enjoyed 59 years of marriage together. They enjoyed going to polka dances for several years.&nbsp; He loved his family and friends and has left us with lots of great memories such as playing with his grandchildren and chasing them around the house when they were little.&nbsp; Anyone who knew Wendy can probably remember a story or joke that he told them at one time or another. He enjoyed anything related to farming or ranching and he loved to check the water for the cattle on his 4-wheeler.

He is survived by sons, Gene and wife Barbara of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Allen and wife Wava of Collyer; grandchildren, Wade, Nicole, Michael, Matt, Christopher, and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Rudy and wife Pam of Arizona; and a sister, Carolyn Klaus of Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Adolph, Alfred, and Joseph; and sisters, Evelyn, Josephine, Katherine, Mary and Euphrasine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30, Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Collyer.&nbsp; Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Peter, Kansas.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, at the funeral home in WaKeeney.&nbsp; A parish vigil service will follow at 7, also at the funeral home.

Wendeline 'Wendy' Gerstner

Ellis Harper McClaren, 68, died Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Morton County Senior Living Community in Elkhart.

He was born January 16, 1952 at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in
 Greensburg, the son of Leto and Estella (West) McClaren. Ellis was 
raised in Mullinville where he enjoyed playing football and building 
friendships. He received his Bachelors from Fort Hays State University 
and was a teacher for a short time. He worked as a custodian at the Area
 Mental Health Center (now Compass Behavioral Health) in Dodge City for 
approximately 15 years.

Survivors include: his sister, Anna Hartnett, Pratt, niece, Sara 
Moore, nephew, Phillip McClaren and numerous close friends and 
co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Fred McClaren.

Private family services will be held. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.

Rodney Duane Snyder, 20, Edmond, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at La Crosse, Kansas.

Duane was born May 5, 2000, in Brighton, Colorado.&nbsp; He was a resident
 of Edmond, Kansas, for 6 years.&nbsp; A 2018 graduate of Logan High School, 
Logan, Kansas, he was a pilot car driver for C &amp; T Pilot Car 
Service, Arp, Texas.&nbsp; While traveling as a pilot car driver, Duane loved
 being able to visit new places, and exploring zoos and museums.

He enjoyed hanging with friends at the lake, and playing X-Box.

Survivors include:&nbsp; his parents, Brian and Patricia “Trish” Snyder, 
La Crosse, Kansas; one brother, Lloyd Snyder, Edmond, Kansas; his 
maternal grandparents, Rodney “Rod” and Karen Mays, Leoti, Kansas; and 
his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Snyder, Scott City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Darrell Snyder.

Penelope Lynn Nolan

JoAnn (Gallon) Hiss, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great 
grandmother, sister, and friend died May 7, 2020, at Woodhaven Care 
Center, Ellinwood. She was born December 27, 1927, in Great Bend, the 
daughter of Elmer P. and Edna V. (Almquist) Gallon. She married Elward 
J. Hiss, Jr., “Eldy” on October 26, 1947, at the First Presbyterian 
Church in Great Bend. He survives.

A lifetime resident of Great Bend, JoAnn was an active member of the 
First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women. JoAnn graduated from 
Great Bend High School in 1945. In her early years, she enjoyed 
employment as a bank teller and at Komarek Jewelers, later enjoying all 
aspects of family farm life. She was a past church school teacher and an
 elder of the church. She was a member of the Central Kansas Thread 
Benders Quilt Guild, Kansas Quilters Organization, American Quilter's 
Society, life member of the Barton County Historical Society and enjoyed
 wheat weaving. She was a volunteer with special interest in the 
American Red Cross Blood program, serving the program for over a quarter
 of a century.

JoAnn and her husband, Eldy, were high school sweethearts and were 
fortunate to be married for 72 years. They loved their family, friends, 
and traveling to see the wonderful world.

Survivors include, her husband, Eldy; two sons, Richard L. "Rick" 
Hiss and wife Tina, and Elward James Hiss, III "Jim" and wife Melinda; 
and a daughter, Sandra K. “Sandy” Hiss, all of Great Bend; four 
grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Peck of Salina, Bradley (Nikki) Hiss of 
Great Bend, E.J. Hiss of Kansas City, Mo., and Veronica Hiss of Wichita;
 and three great grandchildren, Adia Peck, Noah Peck and Tony Hiss. 
JoAnn was preceded in passing by a sister, Jean Vollmer.

Marian Aley Layher, 103, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Via Christi Village where she had lived for 2 years.

She was born on February 9, 1917 in 
Denver, CO to Daisy Gorham Aley and Hamilton W. Aley, the second 
daughter of three girls.&nbsp; She was raised in Colorado Springs, CO where 
her father owned a pharmacy.&nbsp; She graduated from the University of 
Colorado in Boulder, CO where she met her future husband, Robert “Bob” 
Layher.&nbsp; They were secretly married on September 3, 1941 (Bob’s 
birthday) because he had left the U.S. Navy to join the American 
Volunteer Group, “the Flying Tigers” and sailed to China.&nbsp; Marian 
remained living at home volunteering at the hospital and participating 
in other war-time activities.&nbsp; When Life Magazine decided to do a story 
on the Flying Tigers with a picture of Bob that said he had married a 
college coed, they had to hurriedly publish a wedding announcement in 
the Colorado Springs paper before the article appeared.&nbsp; They were 
married 65 years before he preceded her in death on November 17, 2006.

Marian and Bob moved to Hays in 1947 
and again permanently in 1955 with their children.&nbsp; Her mother had 
persuaded two of her son-in-laws to manage her farmland located south of
 Gorham, KS.&nbsp; Marian was quite active in her community while busy 
raising three children.&nbsp; She was very involved in her church and taught 
Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church for over 20 years.&nbsp; She 
was a member of PEO Chapter EC for 59 years.&nbsp; At the age of 60 she took 
up tennis with a group of female friends and proved to be a formidable 
player.&nbsp; Marian loved to travel and she and her husband attended almost 
all the annual Flying Tiger reunions, taking many great trips overseas 
to the Far East and to Germany to visit relatives.&nbsp; She always offered a
 shoulder to lean and took time to listen to her many friends.&nbsp; She will
 be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Lynda 
LeVan of Overland Park, KS; her son Robert Layher and his wife Kim of 
Raymore, MO; two granddaughters, Heather &amp; husband Patrick Lewallen 
of Overland Park, KS and Kristin Layher of Pilot Point, TX; her sister, 
Rosemary Landon, Colorado Springs, CO; one great granddaughter Maggie 
Lewallen of Overland Park, KS and 4 nieces and 3 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, her son Ronald Layher and her sister Dorothy Mowry.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful 
neighbors, Donna Fleischacker and her husband Andreas Maheras, who were

JoAnn Frances Leiker died Saturday, June 13, 2020, in hospice near her family in Lake Worth, Florida.

She was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Ellis County to Alois and Rosa Ruder. She graduated from Marian High School in 1959.

She married John H. Leiker Sept. 17, 1960, in Hays. She worked in the Ellis County Courthouse for many years until the family moved to Denver in 1973, where she worked as an accountant.

She was a founding member of Spirit of Christ Catholic Community Church in Arvada. She was the life of the party and loved to travel the world.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, John; three daughters, Jacqualyne Leiker-Worters (Randy Worters); Janelle (Darrell) Downs; and Janine Leiker (Ed Harrison); and three grandchildren, Amber Worters, Jared Downs and Trina Downs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Merilda Dinges, Esther Ruder and Norine Nemecek; two brothers, Vernon Ruder and Victor Ruder; her in-laws, Henry S. and Regina Leiker, two brothers-in-law, Danny Leiker and Louis Mueggenberg, a sister-in-law, Janet Leiker; a neice, Chelly Schmidt; and a great-nephew, Jason Dinges and Mike Dinges.&nbsp;

There will be a celebration of JoAnn’s life announced by Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hays once it’s safe to travel again. &nbsp;

17, 2020 at Smith County Memorial Hospital. She previously resided on a 
farm in the Esbon, Kansas area.
 She was born September 1, 1928 on a farm near Otego, Kansas, to 
parents Charley and Elsie (Snyder) Underwood. She graduated from Esbon 
High School.
 Lorna worked at Southwestern Bell and after marriage spent time 
raising a family and worked hard helping on the farm. She enjoyed her 
grandchildren, bowling, playing bingo, gardening, cooking, and community
 activities in the farm area and later in Smith Center.
 She was thrilled to win a quarter playing bingo. During the holidays, she was the fastest at unwrapping gifts.
 She married Nolin Hajny on November 16, 1947. He survives in Smith 
Center, Kansas. Also surviving are their three children, Melvin Hajny 
and companion Helen Chancellor, Bruning, Nebraska; Sherry (Hajny) and 
husband Robert Young, Topeka, Kansas; Brad and wife Kathy Hajny, 
Jamestown, Kansas. Other survivors include seven grandchildren; two 
step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two 
step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Corrinne Johnson of Blair, 
Nebraska; and her brother Verle Underwood of Bellevue, Nebraska. 
Additional relatives, friends, and special friend, Pam Hajny, survive.
 Lorna is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Milton
 Underwood and his wife Arleta; Max Underwood; and Dale Underwood. Two 
sisters, Gayle Cole and her husband Junior; Charlotte Frank and her

Edna was born on December 23, 1925, in Milberger, Kansas, the 
daughter of George K. and Mary K. (Kraft) Steinert.&nbsp; She grew up in the 
Milberger and Russell County, Kansas, areas and attended school in 
Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to
 Raymond R. Tittel on September 14, 1943, in Milberger.&nbsp; Edna worked as a
 cook at Duckwalls, Keilie’s restaurant, and Vintage Place.&nbsp; She was a 
longtime member of the Milberger United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, V.F.W.
 Post #6240, McDonalds Coffee Club and Germans from Russia Club.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and cards, and watching the Price Is 
Right show.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family,

Surviving family include her daughter Sandy Wendt and husband Teven

Todd A. Eveleigh, 56, died May 20, 2020, at his home near Galatia, 
Kansas. He was born June 16, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of 
Robert and Lorrayne (Mills) Eveleigh. In 1981 Todd graduated from Great 
Bend High School.

On June 30, 1984, he married Margaret Hammeke in Great Bend, Kansas. 
To this union were born two children, Bobby and Katie. They later 
divorced.

Todd was a self-employed truck driver of Eveleigh Trucking. He was a 
member of Foundry United Methodist Church and BOCK, Bikers of Central 
Kansas. A motorcyclist enthusiast, Todd often wrote for Thunder Roads 
magazine. He loved hunting and was an amazing cook, especially known for
 his BBQ.

He is survived by his children; Bobby Eveleigh and wife Ploy of 
Melbourne, Florida, and Katie Nelson and husband Nick of Wilson; 
parents, Bob and Lorrayne Eveleigh of Great Bend; a sister, Michelle 
Eveleigh; three grandchildren, April Eveleigh, and Braden and Blaine 
Nelson; and his beloved dog, Tanker.

Per Todd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will
 be held at a later date once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

William Wilbur Pfeifer, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Brewster Health Center in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on May 6, 1927, in Greeley County, Kansas, the son of John J. And Elizabeth M. Deering Pfeifer. William enlisted in the US Navy shortly following his 17th birthday in 1944.&nbsp; The large number of Naval recruits at the time resulted in his being sent home to work on the farm subject to being recalled, which never occurred. On August 20, 1950, he married Mary A. Mitchell in Tribune, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives. William farmed, worked in the hay business with his brother-in-law, Leon Beedy, and worked at Collingwood Grain Elevators in Selkirk and Leoti most of his adult life, eventually managing the Leoti Collingwood facility.&nbsp; William liked working with his hands and spending time manicuring his yard. Upon retirement and moving to Topeka, he enjoyed helping his son and daughter-in-law with their many projects.&nbsp; His son was continually amazed at his Dad’s patience and ingenuity. Survivors Include his Wife - Mary A Pfeifer of Topeka, Kansas, One Son - Stanley &amp; Delberta Pfeifer of Topeka, Kansas, and Four Sisters - Helen Messersmith of Salina, Kansas, Theresa Beedy of Salina, Kansas, Alice Shafer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Lucille Mann of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his Parents, brothers Bernard, Edward and Clarence, sisters Sevrena Wimmer, Lorena Swanson and Arlene Lennox. Due to the current virus situation, Private Family Graveside services will be held at a later date and time. William farmed, worked in the hay business with his brother-in-law, Leon Beedy, and worked at Collingwood Grain Elevators in Selkirk and Leoti most of his adult life, eventually managing the Leoti Collingwood facility.&nbsp; William liked working with his hands and spending time manicuring his yard. Upon retirement and moving to Topeka, he enjoyed helping his son and daughter-in-law with their many projects.&nbsp; His son was continually amazed at his Dad’s patience and ingenuity. Survivors Include his Wife - Mary A Pfeifer of Topeka, Kansas, One Son - Stanley &amp; Delberta Pfeifer of Topeka, Kansas, and Four Sisters - Helen Messersmith of Salina, Kansas, Theresa Beedy of Salina, Kansas, Alice Shafer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Lucille Mann of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his Parents, brothers Bernard, Edward and Clarence, sisters Sevrena Wimmer, Lorena Swanson and Arlene Lennox. Due to the current virus situation, Private Family Graveside services will be held at a later date and time. Glade resident Mitch Klink passed away June 17, 2020, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 56. &nbsp; He was born February 2, 1964, in Phillipsburg, the son of Dean &amp; Bethel (Hilbrink) Klink.&nbsp;

Ruth Marie Hoard, passed away June 16, 2020, at Peppi’s Hospice 
House, Tucson, Ariz. Ruth was born June 29, 1928, at Hoisington, Kan., 
she was the daughter of Clifford and Ruth Shook. She married Donald 
Pound in 1951 and he passed away in 1968. She then married Richard Hoard
 in 1970 and he passed away in 1987.

She graduated from Victoria High School in 1946, and attended Fort 
Hays State College. Ruth has been a resident of Tucson for the past 35 
years. She was formally a secretary for CRA in Great Bend, Kan. Ruth was
 a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Order 
of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, and American Legion Argonne Post 180 
Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. Ruth loved gardening, cooking and talking.
 She most loved spending time with her family. Her favorite quote was “I
 wasn’t much, but I tried.”

Survivors include, daughters, Donna (R.C.) Williams of Great Bend, 
Kan., and Shannon (Ron) DeHaan of Pawnee Rock, Kan.; granddaughters, 
Tamyra (Chad) Fuller of David City, Neb., and Jana (Lonny) Cook of Great
 Bend, Kan.; grandsons, Shawn (Elisha) DeHaan of Spearman, Tex., and 
Ryan DeHaan and companion Shelly Peacock of Great Bend, Kan.; great 
grandchildren, Mack Fuller, Andrew Fuller, R.J. Cook, Darby King, Connor

Paul A. Bean, 86, passed away unexpectedly June 16, 2020, at Hays, 
Kansas. He was born January 31, 1934, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Jay W. 
&amp; Mildred (Scothorn) Bean. He married Norma Trent in Great Bend, 
Kansas, at the Presbyterian Church, April 19, 1957. To this marriage 
were two children, Gregory A. Bean and Paula L. (Bean) Schwartzkopf.

After being in the Army, he went to work for Dillons, retiring as 
manager. He opened a Yamaha motorcycle shop. Paul enjoyed life and going
 fishing with his nephew Daniel Trent, planting flowers and gardening, 
and going to casinos.

Survivors include, his daughter, Paula Schwartzkopf and companion Tim
 Newby; one grandson, Jay A. Schwartzkopf and companion Rebbecca Demel; 
two sister in laws, Karen Rader and Theresa Trent; his best friend and 
yellow lab, Henry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death
 by his parents, Jay and Mildred; his wife of 61 years, Norma; and a 
son, Greg Bean.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, there will be no 
viewing. Services are planned for a later date at Fort Dodge Veteran’s

Glenn James Dinkel, age 56, of Hays, Kansas died June 16, 2020, at his home in Hays.&nbsp; He was born March 2, 1964, in Hays, Kansas, to Donald J. and Rose Mary (Braun) Dinkel.

He married Jamie Lynn (Miller) on June 3, 2016 in Hays, Kansas.

He worked in the oil fields for over 30 years and was Production Foreman for Palomino Petroleum Inc. for a number of years.&nbsp; He also worked at Western Well Service, Clipper Energy, Express Well Service, X-Pert Service Tools. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria Knights of Columbus and the NRA.&nbsp; He grew up in Victoria and was a 1982 graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. &nbsp;

Murtonen of Katy, Texas. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; and a

Michael Lynn 'Mike' Legleiter

Lifelong Sharon Springs, KS resident Rodney J. Robben, 55, passed 
away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,
 KS.

He was born to Joseph O. and Daisy Fay Robben on March 14, 1965, in Cheyenne Wells, CO the youngest of 9 children.

He was united in marriage to Tamara Marie Bencken on January 4, 1986,&nbsp; making their home in Sharon Springs, KS.&nbsp; They were blessed with three 
children Tyrel Robben, Teika Arnold, Tess Woodruff.&nbsp;

Rodney was preceded in death by both parents Joe and Daisy Robben, 
brother Christie Joe and brother-in-laws Glenn Unruh and Ty Kallsen.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Tamara Robben; three children Tyrel 
(Jessica) Robben, Teika (Matt) Arnold, Tess (Kirk) Woodruff; three 
grandchildren, Gavin, Doc and Delilah; siblings Stanley and wife Rita, 
Penny and husband Jim, Trudy, Randy and wife Tammy, Bradley, Tracy, Joy 
and husband Eldon; many nieces, nephews and friends.

After graduating high school from WCHS, Rodney, also lovingly known 
as Totler, worked for the family farm as a rancher and farmer, where his
 philosophy was, “You don’t stop farming cuz it might rain.”&nbsp; He often 
referred to himself as a Kansas Plowboy.&nbsp; As a lifelong cowboy, he had a
 passion to work with livestock.&nbsp; He took great pride in sharing his 
knowledge and wisdom with his kids, nieces and nephews.&nbsp; During his 
years of ranching and farming, he also took pleasure in hauling cattle 
for Short &amp; Son.&nbsp; In March of 2019 he began a new career that he 
enjoyed very much with Plains Mountain Truck and Equipment.

Rodney was a simple hardworking man and family was the most important
 thing to him.&nbsp; Becoming a grandfather was a major highlight in his 
life.&nbsp; He always had the best advice and looked at things with an 
unbiased perspective.&nbsp; Rodney was a man of action and few words. “You do
 whatcha gotta do and just get it done.”&nbsp; He was lighthearted with an 
inviting smile and didn’t know a stranger.&nbsp; His love for cartoons and

away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,
 KS.He was born to Joseph O. and Daisy Fay Robben on March 14, 1965, in Cheyenne Wells, CO the youngest of 9 children.He was united in marriage to Tamara Marie Bencken on January 4, 1986,&nbsp; making their home in Sharon Springs, KS.&nbsp; They were blessed with three 
children Tyrel Robben, Teika Arnold, Tess Woodruff.&nbsp;Rodney was preceded in death by both parents Joe and Daisy Robben, 
brother Christie Joe and brother-in-laws Glenn Unruh and Ty Kallsen.&nbsp;He is survived by his wife Tamara Robben; three children Tyrel 
(Jessica) Robben, Teika (Matt) Arnold, Tess (Kirk) Woodruff; three 
grandchildren, Gavin, Doc and Delilah; siblings Stanley and wife Rita, 
Penny and husband Jim, Trudy, Randy and wife Tammy, Bradley, Tracy, Joy 
and husband Eldon; many nieces, nephews and friends.After graduating high school from WCHS, Rodney, also lovingly known 
as Totler, worked for the family farm as a rancher and farmer, where his
 philosophy was, “You don’t stop farming cuz it might rain.”&nbsp; He often 
referred to himself as a Kansas Plowboy.&nbsp; As a lifelong cowboy, he had a
 passion to work with livestock.&nbsp; He took great pride in sharing his 
knowledge and wisdom with his kids, nieces and nephews.&nbsp; During his 
years of ranching and farming, he also took pleasure in hauling cattle 
for Short &amp; Son.&nbsp; In March of 2019 he began a new career that he 
enjoyed very much with Plains Mountain Truck and Equipment.Rodney was a simple hardworking man and family was the most important
 thing to him.&nbsp; Becoming a grandfather was a major highlight in his 
life.&nbsp; He always had the best advice and looked at things with an 
unbiased perspective.&nbsp; Rodney was a man of action and few words. “You do
 whatcha gotta do and just get it done.”&nbsp; He was lighthearted with an 
inviting smile and didn’t know a stranger.&nbsp; His love for cartoons and 
silly songs, along with his mischievous sense of humor brought delight

Rodney J. Robben

Richard V. Ohmart, MD, FAAFP, 84, of Oakley, died Thursday, June 11, 
2020, at the Logan County Hospital. He was born May 29, 1936, in 
McPherson, KS, to Verle and Fern (Heckman) Ohmart. He was a long time 
Oakley physician and enjoyed photography. 
After completing high school in Scott City, Dick enrolled in the 
University of Kansas and received a bachelor’s degree in 1958, with 
majors in English and chemistry. He played in the KU band for three 
years. While there he was selected to Phi Beta Kappa, chosen a member of
 Phi Lambda Upsilon, the chemistry honor society and received Honors in 
English. During his senior year at KU he also married his high school 
sweetheart, Carol Socolofsky on April 19, 1958. 
In the fall of 1958 Dick entered medical school, also at the University 
of Kansas, graduating in June 1962. Dick and Carol, along with their two
 boys, Dale and Dean, moved to Wichita where Dr. Ohmart interned at 
Wesley Medical Center. In June 1963, the family moved to Oakley, Kansas,
 and joined practice with James Marchbanks. M.D. Susan, their third 
child, was born shortly after they arrived in Oakley. Dr. Ohmart 
practiced in Oakley until his retirement in 2001. 
He was a member of the Kansas Medical Society, the Kansas Academy of 
Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.
 He has been president of the Northwest Kansas Medical Society. He was a
 preceptor and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Practice at the 
University of Kansas Medical School until his retirement. He was a 
Clinical Preceptor for The Wichita State University Physician Assistant 
program until his retirement. 
In Oakley Dr. Ohmart has been scoutmaster, a member of the school board,
 Medical Director of the Logan County EMS service and District Coroner. 
He has been a board member of the Kansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield 
insurance company and a board member of the High Plains Mental Health 
Center. In 1992 the hospital administrator and Dr. Ohmart founded the 
New Frontiers Health Services and was medical director until his 
retirement. From 1996 until his retirement Dr. Ohmart was Director of 
Medical Education, Northwest Region, University of Kansas Medical 
School. 
Dick was an avid amateur photographer. He could often be seen at local 
activities taking pictures. He had some of them printed and his patients
 enjoyed his local activity pictures that were in his exam rooms. He 
also hung scenic pictures that he took in his office. Some of those are 
on display at the Logan County Hospital. 
Dr. Ohmart was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honorary 
society. He was chosen Rural Practitioner of the Year in 1999 by the 
National Rural Health Association. In 2000 the Kansas Academy of Family 
Practice selected Dr. Ohmart as Family Physician of the year. 
Dick fell on the ice in January 2001, sustaining a subdural hematoma. 
Following a flight to Denver surgery to remove the hematoma was 
successful. The next morning Dr. Ohmart suffered a stroke. After 
spending six months in a hospital Carol took him home to an apartment in
 Denver for rehabilitation. Two years after his stroke Dr. Ohmart and 
Carol published a book about their experiences as When I Died, An 
Amazing Adventure. 
In 2004 he and Carol built a house in Fulshear, TX where they would 
spend the colder months. They were dedicated to their grandchildren and 
this winter/summer schedule often depended on their activities. 
In 2011 he published The Education of an Old Doc, The Story of my 
Practice in a Wilderness. He’s also contributed to medical magazines, 
had articles in the local paper, written on his own Website 
(OldDocOhmart.com), and a Facebook Group page Education of an Old Doc 
(https://www.facebook.com/groups/196486377090052). There is also a 
collection of his works at the American Association of Family Physicians
 Center for the History of Family Medicine in Leawood, KS. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Ohmart and son-in-law Mike Bloom. 
Richard is survived by his wife Carol; children, Dale (Minette) Ohmart, 
Dean Ohmart (Susan Jenkins) and Susan Bloom; grandchildren Joel Nicholas
 Ohmart, Kira Jasmine Ohmart, Charlie Bloom (Jessica Cook), Roderick 
Bloom and John Bloom, great grandchild, Carrie Mikaela Bloom, brother 
Harold (Carol) Ohmart, and sister-in-law Caroline Ohmart.

Rebecca "Becky" Stonebraker, 81, loving wife, mother, grandmother, 
great grandmother, sister, friend, and teacher passed away June 15, 2020
 at Brookdale Senior Living in Great Bend. She was born December 30, 
1938. Growing up on the family farm with her siblings and loving 
parents, Dude and Dot Hannan, was a favorite memory. Becky was proud to 
be a Hannan and looked forward to the family reunion every year.

Becky was married to Byron "Buddy” Stonebraker 61 years.&nbsp; Buddy 
preceded her in death May 24, 2020. She was a dedicated and caring 
teacher for over thirty years at Riley Elementary School and Park 
Elementary School. Trips to Colorado, hiking, reading, and spending time
 with family were favorite pastimes.

Survivors include, daughter, Cathryn Stos and husband Melvin; and 
son, David Stonebraker and wife Deb; granddaughters, Megan (Joe) Roop 
and Kristen (David) McAdams; great grandchildren, Cathryn Dailey, 
Beatrice Dailey, and Fynn Roop; siblings, Rodney Hannan, Audrey 
McMullen, Frankie Graham, and Vic Hannan. She was preceded in death by 
her parents; husband, Byron Stonebraker; and sisters, Mary Hannan Patee 
and Cledery Lewis.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be 
announced by family. Memorials are suggested to Park Elementary School, 
in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
