Joyce E. Sanderson, age 75, of Goodland passed away Thursday, 
September 24, 2020.&nbsp; Joyce was born on December 13, 1944 to John and 
Vera (Tiede) Dallas in Edson, Kansas.&nbsp;

Joyce grew up in Edson and Goodland.&nbsp; She attended elementary school 
in Edson and graduated from Sherman County High School in 1962.&nbsp; She 
married Donald E. (Jack) Sanderson on November 3, 1962 in Goodland.&nbsp; To 
this union three children, Kenneth, Kevin and Kristie.&nbsp;

Joyce and Jack owned and operated Clawson Electric Auto Supply in 
Goodland until 2006.&nbsp; Joyce also worked at the City of Goodland for 15 
years.&nbsp; She was a selfless, kind woman, mother, friend, coworker, and 
grandma.&nbsp; She lived a full and abundant life.&nbsp; She always had a smile on
 her face, and eager to help anyone with anything.&nbsp; &nbsp;She blessed the 
lives of those that she touched.&nbsp; Joyce was a member of the First 
Christian Church of Goodland.&nbsp; She spent many years and excelled at 
National Bowling tournaments, a lifelong sister in Sigma Beta Phi 
Sorority.&nbsp; She was an avid swimmer and diver, enjoyed going to casinos, 
motorcycle riding, flowers and gardening and enjoyed Bingo.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and grandparents; and sisters, Mary Leoffler and Joan Dallas.&nbsp;

Joyce is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Tami) Sanderson and Kevin 
(Jenifer) Sanderson of Goodland; daughter, Kristie (Joran Jensen) of 
Kansas City, MO; sisters, Irene Wise of Denver, CO and Shirley (Larry 
Dean) Wise of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Spencer Baumert, Hannah, 
Blake, Heath, Taylor Sanderson; and many more family and friends.&nbsp;

Joyce E. (Dallas) Sanderson

Capuchin Father Bennett Colucci O.F.M. 
Cap., 89, victim of Covid-19 of Via Christi Village Care Center in Hays,
 Kansas, died Thursday,&nbsp; Sept. 24, 2020, just 28 days short of his 90th 
birthday, having tested positive for&nbsp; Covid-19 virus a few days earlier.

The youngest of the eight children of 
late Pasquale and Pasqualina (Citarelli) Colucci, Pasquale Jr., was born
 on October 22, 1930, in Hillsville, Pennsylvania.&nbsp;Early in childhood 
his parents died, and he was raised by his uncle and aunt, Frank and 
Nellie Colucci.&nbsp; He received the new name Bennett, when he joined the 
Capuchin Franciscan Order in 1951.&nbsp; Bennett studied for the priesthood 
at St. Fidelis Seminary and College in Herman, Pennsylvania, and 
Capuchin College in Washington, D.C., and was ordained a priest in 1957.

His first assignment was to the 
Capuchin Missions in Puerto Rico, where he ministered as associate 
pastor in Ponce, Utuado, Trujillo Alto, and Adjuntas, and then as 
director of a school for lay brothers and a retreat house in Adjuntas.&nbsp; 
In 1970, he moved to Colorado and served for four years as an associate 
pastor in Annunciation church in Denver.&nbsp; He then was on the staff of 
Denver’s Marycrest High School for 14 years while engaging in pastoral 
ministry at Clare Gardens.&nbsp; From 1986 till 1993 he was associate 
director and chaplain of Samaritan House for the homeless.&nbsp; Father 
served next in Kansas on the pastoral care team at Hays Medical Center, 
becoming its director in 2001.&nbsp; Retiring&nbsp;from public ministry in 2005, 
he took up residence at St. Fidelis Friary in Victoria, until his move 
to Via Christi Village in 2017.&nbsp; Father was the last member of his 
immediate family to die.

Reception of the Body and Morning 
Prayer will be celebrated at 8:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2020, 
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at The 
Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial will be in the 
Friar’s Plot at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.

Father Bennett P. Colucci

Betty Jean Shelton Austin, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2020, at her home in Scott City, Kansas.  She was born on January 3, 1929, in Glade, Kansas, the daughter of John Allen and Vernie McLaughlin Baker.  A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1979 moving from Guymon, Oklahoma, she was a retired secretary from HRC Feedyard and was the owner and operator of Kringle’s Kreations where she sent her Santa’s all over the world.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On November 8, 1946, she married Charles Shelton in Ness City, Kansas.  He passed away in March of 1979 in Guymon, Oklahoma.  On January 29, 1983, she married Robert Austin in Scott City, Kansas.  He passed away in November of 2002 in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include Her Six Children - Sherry &amp; Robert Brooks of Broomfield, Colorado, Nikki &amp; Alan Geier of Garden City, Kansas, Allen &amp; Patrice Shelton of Garden City, Kansas, Steve &amp; Lou Shelton of Scott City, Kansas, Craig &amp; Patty Shelton of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Elizabeth &amp; Gil Lewis of Scott City, Kansas, One Step Son - Mike &amp; Lynn Austin of Graham, Washington, Twenty-One Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, and Four Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Two Husbands, One Brother - Cecil Baker, and One Sister - Viola Benedict.

Memorial Services will be Friday, October 2, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Betty Jean Shelton Austin

Gladys Marie Allen, 107, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Redbud Village, Plainville, of COVID-19.

Gladys was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Plainville, to Wallace and Mae Anna (Cronin) Phillips.

On April 23, 1938, in Plainville she married her dance partner and best friend Thomas C. Allen, a printer and linotype operator at The Plainville Times. They rode a train through dust storms to honeymoon in Colorado.

Tom and Gladys were married 63 years before he died on Nov. 5, 2001.

Growing up, she learned to cut hair at her dad’s barber shop in Tipton, cherished a family trip to Estes Park, Colo., and was a whiz in physics at St. Boniface High School, Tipton.

As a mom, she enjoyed sewing all the clothes for her family and her daughters’ Barbies, as well as hand-making quilts for everyone. She closely followed the travels and adventures of her five children. She was very active with Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville, and enjoyed her friendships with the ladies in the Daughters of Isabella, the Guild, and her quilting circle.

Gladys loved flowers and especially pansies and lilacs. She liked root beer floats, browsing for hours for fabric and patterns, laughing, and caring for her grandchildren. She made the best lemon merengue pie of anybody.

Three of her favorite things to say were “Will you stay for supper?” “It’s so good to see you” and “Let’s don’t and say we did.”

Besides her husband, Tommy, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary E. Allen; her son-in-law, John M. Edmonds; a great-granddaughter, Caroline E. Smith; her brother and sister-in-law, Harry D. and Louise (Gardner) Phillips; and her sister and brother-in-law, Doris M. and Harlan Gilbert.

Survivors include two daughters, Sister Marcia Allen, Concordia; and Margaret Allen, Hays; and two sons, Michael Allen and wife, Paula, Douglas, Ga.; and John Allen and wife, June Knittel, Hays; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Following cremation, arrangements are pending.

Walter John Younker, age 91, of Antonino, Kansas, died Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on March 6, 1929, in Hyacinth, Kansas to John and Agnes (Spies) Younker.&nbsp; He married Mary (Dinkel) on August 22, 1949, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; Together they raised four children. &nbsp;

He started his career in the grocery store business after his graduation from the 8th grade, eventually becoming the store manager of Safeway in Russell, Kansas, and then IGA in Hays.&nbsp; His customers knew him as “Wally” then in 1969, he transitioned to a full-time farmer north of Antonino.&nbsp; He attended Star and Silverdale schools in rural Ellis County.&nbsp; During his retirement, he enjoyed meeting up with his Hays Sale Barn buddies weekly and tending to his cattle herd.&nbsp;

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Antonino.&nbsp; He served as President of the Ellis County Farm Bureau and was instrumental in the creation of Rural Water District Ellis County1C.

Survivors include his wife. Mary, of the home; two sons, David Younker, Hays, KS; Dale Younker and wife, Paula, Jetmore, KS; two daughters, Dianne DeGood and husband, Alan, Goddard, KS; Donna Myers and husband, Patrick, Lawrence, KS; one sister, Twila Griffin, Weatherford, OK; one sister-in-law, Rita Younker, Plainville, KS; six grandchildren, Kerrie Mayans (Jason), Melissa Opbroek (Aaron), Brandy Leon (Nick), and Julia Myers, Brad Younker (Jessica), and Brian Younker (Carmon); 13 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mayans, Madeline Mayans, Cecilia Mayans, Charlotte Mayans, Carlie Younker, Camryn Younker, Leyah Younker, Lyndi Younker, Cadynce Leon, McKenna Leon; Alex Mayans, Carter Opbroek, Paxton Leon.&nbsp;

Joyce Earllene Whipple, 78, passed away on September 23, 2020 at the 
Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on March 9, 1942 in 
Neosho Falls, Kansas the daughter of Earl and Idell (O'Dell) Harvey.

Private Family Funeral service will be on Monday, September 28, 2020,
 10:00 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Ness City.&nbsp; Burial in the 
Beeler Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness 
City, Kansas, from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2020 
with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Marion Virginia LaBarge, 86, Damar, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at
 Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born June 1, 1934, in 
Damar to Joseph and Lucille (Desmarteau) Morin. She married Delmar L. 
LaBarge on February 18, 1952, in Damar. 


Marion was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delmer, 
her sister, Phyllis, and her son, Larry. Survivors include three 
daughters, Debra A. Kiel (Curtis), Garden City, Judith M. LaBarge, 
Plainville and Marla M. McGann (Pete), Ellis; two brothers, Stanley 
Morin (Barbara), Plainville and Don Morin (Debbie), Iowa; four sisters: 
Janet Morin (Joe Brown) and Cynthia Thyfault (Gerald), both of Hays, 
Laura Knipp (Donald), Wichita and Saundra Altman (Phil), Logan; eight 
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. 
Marion will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her many 
relatives and friends.

Marion Virginia LaBarge

Mary Frances Wasinger, 76, Ellis, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born January 16, 1944 in Scott 
City, Kansas the third oldest of 19 children of Jack H. and Elizabeth J.
 “Betty” (Kerkoff) West.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Scott City High School 
and Dodge City Community College Nursing School.&nbsp; Mary was a nurse at 
Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.&nbsp; On February 8, 1964 
she was united in marriage to Dale W. Wasinger at Sacred Heart Cathedral
 in Dodge City, Kansas, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.&nbsp; She 
was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis.

In 1975 she moved to Ellis and became 
owner and funeral director alongside her husband, purchasing Johnson 
Funeral Chapel, which was built in 1956 by Weldon and Alberteen 
Johnson.&nbsp; It later became known as the Wasinger Funeral Chapel, a 
business she owned for 30 years.&nbsp; After her retirement she became a 
caregiver for the elderly people of her community who were like family 
to her.&nbsp; She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, cooking and baking, 
sewing, china painting, and quilting.&nbsp; Her family was of utmost 
importance to her, especially her grandsons.

Survivors include her husband Dale of 
the home in Ellis, two daughters; Cheryl (Leonard Jr.) Augustine and Kim
 M. Keithley, both of Ellis, two grandsons; Tanner Keithley of Ellis and
 Bryce Keithley of Hays, six brothers; Arthur J. West (Susie) of El 
Segundo, CA, Jack H. West (Shelley) of Vista, CA, David L. West of 
Vancouver, WA, Patrick West (Debbie) of Oceanside, CA, Louis P. West of 
Garden City, KS, and Terry J. West (Beverly) of Shallow Water, KS, and 
nine sisters; Margaret J. Ellison and Elizabeth J. Bradley, both of 
Wichita, KS, Martha Jonagan (Dale) of Ingalls, KS, Dorotha A. Reynolds 
of Dodge City, KS, Ruth J. West of Bakersfield, CA, Kathryn L. Church 
(Gary) of Kansas City, KS, Rebecca S. Morton (Stan) of Lawrence, KS, 
Barbara S. Betzold (Morris) of Hutchinson, KS, and Virginia L. Leonard 
(Mitch) of Dodge City, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Mike West and Gene West, and a sister; Carolyn Hinojosa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
11:00 am on Monday, September 28, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in 
Ellis, with Fr. Dana Clark officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Mt. Hope 
Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 with a vigil 
service at 7:00, all on Sunday at the church.&nbsp;

Mary F. Wasinger

Sylvia Marie Sauer, 85, died September 19, 2020, at her home near St. 
Peter, Kansas. Sylvia was born May 1, 1935, to Gottfried and Barbara 
(Billinger) Knoll on the family farm in Rural Graham County. She 
attended the Catholic Grade School in St. Peter and graduated from 
Morland High School in 1953.


April 26, 1954, Sylvia married Eugene Sauer at St. Anthony Church in
 St. Peter. To this union six children were born:  Kent, Howard, Donna, 
Arnold, Phillip, and Rhonda.


Throughout her life Sylvia wore many hats.  She was an active member
 of the Christian Mothers of St. Anthony Church in St. Peter. She wrote 
the St. Peter column which appeared in the Hill City Times for 37 years.
 Her poetry was published in 2015.  However, her greatest passion was 
her family of 67. Sylvia’s life partner jobs included many trips for 
parts and working on the farm driving tractors, trucks, attending car 
shows, and “shopping”.  She did enjoy an occasional beer with her family
 and friends especially after a hard day’s work. Gardening and raising 
her “German” blackberries occupied much of her time. She was a fantastic
 cook and a noodle making fanatic! Sylvia made quilts, baby quilts, and 
embroidered pieces for everyone, including many other family members and
 friends. Birthdays and anniversaries were always remembered with a 
phone call.


Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, five 
sisters and one grandson. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her 
husband, Eugene; her children: Kent (Linda) Sauer, Salina, Howard 
(Mischell) Sauer, Collyer, Donna (John) Sheckler, Newton, Arnold Sauer, 
Quinter, Phillip (Linda) Sauer, Assaria, and Rhonda (Greg) Beecher, Rose
 Hill;  sisters: Dorothy Sauer, Wichita and Barbara Solze, Colorado 
Springs; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and two great-great 
grandchildren. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by many people for her
 reply when asked, “How are you?” to which she always answered, “I’m 
wonderful! Tell all your friends.”

Eugene J. Suppes, 94, passed away September 23, 2020, at Woodhaven 
Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born on May 13, 1926, at Otis to Adam 
&amp; Mary (Herrman) Suppes. He married Alma Zimmerman on May 2, 1950, 
at Schoenchen. She survives.

Eugene was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic
 Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a faithful 
Christian role model. He was a member Knights of Columbus and the VFW, 
all of Great Bend. He was a World War II veteran and was stationed in 
Okinawa, Japan. He loved the Kansas City Royals, gardening, and reading 
his bible, but especially loved his grandchildren and dogs, Max and 
Molly.

Survivors include, his wife, Alma Suppes; his children, Shirley 
Philippi and husband Steve of Gilbert, Ariz., Ginger Herrman and husband
 Mark of Great Bend, Margie Bowsher and husband Mark of Richmond, Tex., 
Richard Suppes and wife Rhonda of Hutchinson, J.R. Suppes and wife 
Brenda of Great Bend, Bernie Suppes and wife Laura of St. John, Dale 
Suppes of Great Bend, Tammy Priest and husband Tim of Green Valley, 
Ariz., and Stacy Suppes and Jerry Dale of Derby; 22 grandchildren; 32 
great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two sister in laws,
 Mary Louise Suppes of Otis, and Elsie Suppes of Smith Center. He was 
preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lynda Garrett; five 
brothers, Tony and Agnes Suppes, Primus and Delores Suppes, Reinhold and
 Ruby Suppes, Clarence Suppes, and Julius Suppes; two sisters, Helen and
 Herbert Schuckman, and Ruth and Eddie Engel; and two great 
grandchildren, Bailiegh Kay Suppes and Bentley Lintz.

 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Knights of Columbus rosary and Vigil

Karen Keller Becker, 79, passed away September 23, 2020, at Almost 
Home, Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born September 11, 1941, in Great Bend, to 
Marion Eustace “M.E.” and Ulanda (Schartz) Marmie.&nbsp; Karen was a 1959 
graduate of Great Bend High School and continued her education at 
Emporia State Teacher’s College.&nbsp; Karen married Norman C. Keller October
 21, 1961, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Norman passed away January 5, 1999.&nbsp; She then
 married Wayne A. Becker May 4, 2001, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Wayne passed away 
November 5, 2008.

Karen was a life time resident of the Great Bend area.&nbsp; Following her
 schooling she was employed as an administrative assistant for Central 
Kansas Electric Co-op.&nbsp; After she and Norman began their family, Karen 
was a homemaker, avid volunteer and active supporter in Norman's 
business, Keller Real Estate and Insurance. Karen was a member of Prince
 of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church.&nbsp; She was a founding 
member and served as President and board member for the Holy Family 
School Endowment.&nbsp; She spent countless hours volunteering for the church
 and school including being a member of Altar Society, Parish Pastoral 
committee and attending Adoration Chapel.&nbsp; Karen served her community as
 a board member for Golden Belt Community Concert and a member of the 
Great Bend Progress Club and Great Bend Area Panhellenic.&nbsp; Karen was 
incredibly social and loved gathering with friends and family.&nbsp; She had 
lifelong friendships from several bridge clubs and coffee and dinner 
groups.&nbsp; Above all she cherished her time with family, enjoying every 
event and special occasion.&nbsp; She will always be remembered for her 
bright smile, true kindness and incredible generosity.

Survivors include, two sons, Kevin Keller and wife Lori, and Jeff 
Keller and wife Kathie, all of Great Bend; a daughter, Kim Meeds and 
husband Blaine of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Grant Keller, 
Alyssa Keller, Sarah Keller, Neal Keller, Katie Meeds, Maggie Meeds and 
Claire Meeds; Two brothers, Dave Marmie and wife Sherri, and Jerry 
Marmie and wife Linda, and their respective families; Norman's sister 
Janice Becker and husband Jerry, and sister-in-law, Jerene Keller, and 
their respective families; Wayne's children Ricky Becker, Tammy Hayden, 
Teri Stephenson, and their respective families; Wayne's sisters, Linda 
Sisson, Jean Radke and Ann Engel, and their respective families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Norman and Wayne, 
Norman's brothers Marvin Keller and James Keller, and Wayne's son Rock 
Becker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 
2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore
 presiding.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation

 “Terry” Staab of Hays, Kansas, passed away on September 18,&nbsp;2020.&nbsp; Terry
 was born February 2, 1945, in Hays&nbsp;to Joseph and Rose Staab.

Terry
 was the youngest of 3 children.&nbsp; As a child, Terry loved to be 
outdoors, and always invented his own little toys, and ways to play. His
 spirit of invention started early in life.&nbsp; Terry always enjoyed 
playing “War” with the neighborhood kids.&nbsp; &nbsp;He then attended school at 
St. Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays KS.&nbsp; There he flourished as an 
athlete, and lettered in basketball, track, and football.

Terry
 married Betty Staab of Hays, KS in 1965.&nbsp; They loved traveling 
together, and having get togethers with friends and family. Together 
they had 4 children, and eventually made Wichita their home.&nbsp; &nbsp;Although 
Terry and Betty divorced after 25 years of marriage, they still remained
 very close.Terry worked at quite a few jobs in his life, but his most 
notable was for Moore Business Forms in Wichita.&nbsp; There, Terry became 
nationally recognized as their top salesman.&nbsp; He then transferred his 
family to the Dallas area with Moore in 1979.&nbsp; He eventually left his 
sales job, and worked with other different companies over the years.&nbsp; 
&nbsp;He was somewhat of an entrepreneur, and was always thinking of new 
things to do.&nbsp; Terry was especially resourceful, and never let an 
opportunity go by.&nbsp; He always adapted easily to change, and reinvented 
himself. He eventually landed in San Diego, and managed a restaurant for
 a number of years.&nbsp; One of his last jobs, was with a company that he 
started himself.&nbsp; Terry opened a residential treatment center for teens 
on the beaches of Mexico, along with his son Eric.&nbsp; His son Neal 
eventually joined as well. It was very successful during the years that 
it was open.

Terry
 has always been known as the life of the party.&nbsp; He loved joking 
around, performing magic tricks under the name Billy the Lizard, and 
cooking big meals for family, and friends.&nbsp; Wherever his life took him, 
one thing remained the same…his heart.&nbsp; He had a heart of gold, and 
loved giving gifts.&nbsp; He put so much love into his gift wrapping, and 
holiday decorating.&nbsp; Terry loved all of the holidays, and made sure that
 they were always very special.&nbsp; He was ALWAYS&nbsp; in the kitchen, and 
prided himself in serving up anything he thought of.&nbsp; He was an expert 
chef in everyone’s eyes.&nbsp; Terry was very proud of his German heritage, 
and always incorporated German foods when he could.&nbsp;Terry was loved by 
everyone he met, and will always be remembered for his witty spirit, and
 love for his family and friends.&nbsp; When his grandchildren were asked for
 a few words to describe him, they said crafty, generous, giving, 
caring, and funny.

 is survived by his 4 children, Lisa Staab of Hays, KS, Eric Staab of 
Arlington, TX, Mark Staab of Hays, KS, and Neal Staab and wife Melissa 
of Coppell, TX.&nbsp; Terry was loved by his 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob,&nbsp; 
Landon, Madison, Reagan, Andrew, James, and Emery. Siblings Nancy 
Schmidtberger and husband Marvin Schmidtberger of Pratt, KS, and Grace 
McGinnis of Hays, KS.&nbsp; Terry was blessed by, and loved his numerous 
nieces ,nephews, and cousins.&nbsp; Terry had multiple lifelong friends that 
were always by his side.&nbsp; Former spouse and mother of his children Betty
 Staab, and former spouse of Mark Staab, Cathy Klimka Staab.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Staab, and his brother-in-law Darrell McGinnis.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays, KS.

 will be on Tuesday, September 29th, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a 
combined rosary and parish vigil service at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s

Terrence 'Terry' Staab

Marie Elizabeth (Brenner) Brack was born September 8, 1927, on her 
family's farm in western Rush County, Kansas, to James Leo and Ina 
(Fitzgerald) Brenner. She attended country school Star District #30 for 
five years. Due to consolidation, she attended her remaining elementary 
years in McCracken, Kansas, and started high school there. As a result 
of gas and tire rationing during WWII she rode the school bus to 
Alexander High School, Alexander, Kansas, graduating in 1945. She 
continued her education at Central Business College in Denver, Colorado.
 Upon graduating, she returned to Rush County and obtained a bookkeeping
 job at the Humburg Store in La Crosse, Kansas.

Marie and Wilbur R. Brack were married on December 15, 1947 and 
preceded to move to rural Timken, Kansas, in eastern Rush County in 
August 1948. While there, James Lee, John Frederick and Janice Marie 
were born. In August of 1957 the family moved to Marie's family 
homestead near McCracken. Jay Dean was born there in January 1966. After
 58 1/2 years of marriage, Wilbur passed in June of 2006 and Marie moved
 to a&nbsp;home in La Crosse in August of that year.

Marie was an avid gardener and loved nurturing her flowers. She also 
loved to play cards, and she played to win. She spent many years working
 at the Rush County Historical Museum in La Crosse after moving to town.
 She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, where 
she quilted weekly with friends and spent endless hours sewing in her 
home for the church and her family. Marie also assisted with Sunday 
school and Vacation Bible School. She served as secretary for the 
Women's group of Hope Lutheran Church, the Alexander Senior Group, 
Alexander Alumni Association, the Brookdale Extension Unit, and the La 
Crosse Senior Center. She served her community in various ways, 
including election boards.

Marie is survived by her sister, Ruth Huffman, of Hutchinson, Kansas;
 children, James (Robbie) of Duncan Oklahoma, John (Shawn) of McCracken,
 Janice (John) Haney of Greensburg, Kansas, and Jay (Dawn) of 
Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, Penni Cannady, Tyler (Sarah) Brack, Taylor
 (Dustin) Moore, Dustin Brand, Shannon Brand all of Oklahoma, Holly 
(Glen) Hoyt of Wichita, Kansas, Ashley (Tyler) Schwindt of Otis, Kansas,
 and Jeanine (Richard) Hassiepen of Greensburg; and eighteen great 
grandchildren. Cash and Chandler Moore, Sylvie and Shea Brand, Zachary, 
Danny, Amber and Nicole Cannady, Cooper Brack and Gracie Garand, Austin,
 Aubrey, and Annaleise Hoyt, Zoey, Lily and Ruby Schwindt, and Brock and
 Sayre Hassiepen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur; and brother, Earl Brenner.

Graveside service will be Friday, September 25, 2020, at 10:30 A.M. 
at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney, Kansas, with Pastor Wayne 
Baldyga officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Kansas Veterans’ 
Cemetery, WaKeeney, Kansas.

Marie Elizabeth (Brenner) Brack

James W. “Jim” Thurman, 95, died September 22, 2020, at Almost Home, 
Great Bend, where he had been a resident for more than 6 years. Jim was 
born May 30, 1925 in Larned, KS, the only child of Clair W. and Bess&nbsp; 
(Hawkins) Thurman. He was raised in Rozel, KS where his parents owned a 
hardware store.&nbsp; His uncle and aunt, Ray and Hannah Hawkins, also lived 
in Rozel and were an important influence throughout his life.&nbsp;

Jim graduated from Rozel High School in May, 1943.&nbsp; Upon graduation, 
he enlisted in the Army and served as a mechanic in California, Texas, 
New Jersey, Kentucky and in Arles, France. His military service was 
later celebrated when he participated in an Honor Flight to Washington 
DC.&nbsp; After discharge, Jim began college at Fort Hays Kansas State 
College.

He married Darlene Nelson of Larned, KS on January 23, 1947 at the 
Nelson family farm west of Larned, while they both were attending 
college. He worked as a janitor in Picken Hall on campus and pitched for
 local town team baseball teams to help make money for their growing 
family. Jim graduated from Fort Hays in 1949 with a BS in Physical 
Education and Business Administration where he was president of his 
senior class. He was a high school teacher and coach and later 
bookkeeper and car salesman in Lyons, KS from 1949 to 1953.&nbsp; Jim and 
Darlene moved to Larned in early 1953 where he began work as a car 
salesman and bookkeeper for Barr Motor Company which later became Chance
 Motor Company.

In May 1958, Jim and his family moved to Great Bend where Jim changed
 careers and became an insurance salesman for Federated Insurance.&nbsp; He 
later joined Bruce Buehler Insurance Company which eventually became 
Thurman Morrison and Associates.&nbsp; He retired as an independent insurance
 agent in 2000, at age 75.

In 1963, Jim and Darlene bought a small cabin in Green Mountain 
Falls, CO.&nbsp; They loved their time in the mountains at the Sleepy Seven 
cabin, especially enjoying when Darlene’s sister and brother in law and 
their kids joined the Thurman family there.

Jim officiated both high school and collegiate football and 
basketball for 30 years, retiring in 1977.&nbsp; In 2001, he was inducted 
into the Kansas Collegiate Officials’ Hall of Fame. He served one term 
as president of the Kansas College Officials Association.

Jim became a licensed private pilot in the 1960’s and enjoyed flying 
for many years. He was known for flying low over the family home on 
Sheridan to let Darlene know (and probably the neighbors too!) that he’d
 be landing at the airport soon. His hobby in his later years was 
farming the Nelson and Thurman family land at Larned and Rozel with his 
son, Doug.&nbsp; Even after he couldn’t drive a tractor anymore, he loved 
nothing better than mowing the grass around the sheds and buildings.

Jim served the city of Great Bend as a councilman from 1982 to 1985 
and as mayor from 1985 to 1989.&nbsp; During that time, Great Bend became a 
Sister City of Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene were 
able to visit the German sister city when he was mayor.

Jim, Darlene and their family were charter members of Trinity United 
Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Lions Club and VFW, all 
of Great Bend.

Survivors include 5 children, Pamala Larsen (Tom Thompson) of 
Loveland, Colorado, Craig (Mary) Thurman of Overland Park, Kansas, 
Douglas (Judy) Thurman of Hays, Kansas, Denise Parker (Dan Pfannenstiel)
 of Dodge City, Kansas, and Marisa (Kevin) Struckhoff of Windsor, 
Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way; a 
sister-in-law, Gwyneth Frack, of Garden City, Kansas; 3 nieces and 1 
nephew.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his parents; his
 son-in-law, Randy Larsen; and great granddaughter, Finley Grace Taylor.

Visitation at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend will be held from 
Noon to 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2020.&nbsp; Jim’s children will be 
present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and request that masks be worn.&nbsp; 
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is having a private graveside 
service at the Great Bend Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Thompson presiding.
 Memorial donations can be made to Almost Home, Inc. or Trinity United 
Methodist Church, both of Great Bend, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 
Great Bend.

nothing better than mowing the grass around the sheds and buildings.Jim served the city of Great Bend as a councilman from 1982 to 1985 
and as mayor from 1985 to 1989.&nbsp; During that time, Great Bend became a 
Sister City of Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene were 
able to visit the German sister city when he was mayor.Jim, Darlene and their family were charter members of Trinity United 
Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Lions Club and VFW, all 
of Great Bend.Survivors include 5 children, Pamala Larsen (Tom Thompson) of 
Loveland, Colorado, Craig (Mary) Thurman of Overland Park, Kansas, 
Douglas (Judy) Thurman of Hays, Kansas, Denise Parker (Dan Pfannenstiel)
 of Dodge City, Kansas, and Marisa (Kevin) Struckhoff of Windsor, 
Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way; a 
sister-in-law, Gwyneth Frack, of Garden City, Kansas; 3 nieces and 1 
nephew.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his parents; his
 son-in-law, Randy Larsen; and great granddaughter, Finley Grace Taylor.Visitation at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend will be held from 
Noon to 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2020.&nbsp; Jim’s children will be 
present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and request that masks be worn.&nbsp;

Norman J. Ruder, age 85, of Hays, Kansas, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1935, in Zurich, Kansas, to Alfred R. and Agnes (Dinges) Ruder. On June 29, 1953, Norman married Susie Weigel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage. Susie preceded him in death on September 21, 2018.

Norman graduated from St Joseph Military Academy, Hays in 1952.  He started his oilfield career of 38 years working for Tret-O-Lite, Halliburton, and in 1959 started Service Acid, Inc. After retirement, Norman and Susie spent 25 years between their homes in Hays and Rio Verde, AZ. In Hays, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, on the Advisory Board of Directors of Bank IV, member of KIOGA, Ahearn member of Kansas State University, supporter of Fort Hays State University Athletics, and on the Board of Directors of Good Samaritan, Hays.

In Rio Verde, he was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Mission and choir. He was a Stephen Minister and took great pride in helping others. He was an active member of the Grand Canyon State Woodcarvers, Inc., Rio Verde Woodcarvers Club, and the Fountain Hills Community Chorus. He and Susie supported and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed volunteering at Andre House of Arizona. 

His marriage to his wife, Susie, was a joy to behold by all who witnessed their love for one another. He was very devoted to family and faith. He was a great dad and very proud grandpa. Norman took great joy in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending their sporting and personal achievement events. His favorite activities included fishing, hunting, camping, boating, traveling, choir, and woodcarving. He was an avid golfer at Smoky Hill Country Club, Rio Verde Country Club and Kissing Camels Country Club.  

He is survived by a son, Douglas Ruder and Terry Derr of Hays; two daughters, Linda Ruder and her husband Bruce Burkholder of Hays, Kathy Taylor and her husband Roger Taylor of Rio Vede, AZ; five grandchildren, Blythe Brown and her husband Mike of Victoria, KS, Breanne Nelson of Merriam, KS, Jamie Cornelsen and her husband Ryan of Gardner, KS, Ryan Taylor of Austin, TX, Kelsee Gordon and her husband Mike of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Norman also leaves behind a loving extended family that includes many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, a son, N.J. Ruder Jr. and a brother, Maurice Ruder.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 28, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary at 7:00 PM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Monday visitation will be at St. Joseph Church 10:30 AM until service time.

Barbara Kay (VonFeldt) Kisner, age 74, of Hays, Kansas, died Monday, September 21, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.&nbsp; She was born September 22, 1945, in Hays, Kansas, to William B. and Clara (Windholz) VonFeldt. &nbsp; She married Jon F. Kisner on September 4, 1970, in Victoria, Kansas, and have now celebrated 50 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker, a price coordinator at Foods Bonanza for 12 years until they closed, cooked at TMP-Marian High School, and worked at the HMC Cancer Center.

She grew up in Victoria, Kansas, and was a 1963 graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp; While living in Victoria, she was the children’s choir director at St. Fidelis Catholic Church for many years.&nbsp; Barbara and Jon lived to Hays since 1985 then moved to Texas for four years and again back to Hays in 2016. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas, and St. Fidelis Daughters of Isabella.&nbsp; Singing was an important part of Barbara’s life.&nbsp; She, along with Jon, sang for all occasions in Victoria for many years.&nbsp; Barbara enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home, and had a special touch for decorating for all the holidays.

Survivors include her husband, Jon F. Kisner, of the home; one son, Curtis Kisner and wife, Michelle, Keller, TX; two daughters, Tonya Kisner, Leavenworth, KS; Simone Anderson and husband, Christian, Keller, TX; three granddaughters, Aubrianna Kisner, Cadence Anderson, Carmyn Anderson; one sister-in-law, Janell Newton and husband, Gary, Wichita, KS; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Karlin, Hays, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents. &nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas and inurnment will be at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

She was born February 23, 1955, in Larned; the daughter of Stanley and Geraldine (Hogan) Young.

She graduated from Kinsley High School in 1973, and Hutchinson Junior
 College in 1975, where she was a member and Captain of the Dragon Dolls
 dance team.&nbsp; In 1977, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home 
Economics and Education from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She later 
obtained a Masters of Science degree from Friends University.

Ann married Bruce Gatterman on August 5, 1978, in Kinsley, and they 
resided in Larned their entire married life.&nbsp; She was a longstanding 
member of her bridge club and Larned Ladies Golf.&nbsp; Ann was a volunteer 
for the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, and a founding 
member of the “Friday Night Fright Club”.&nbsp; She was a proud member of the
 Bronze National Leadership Circle of the Kansas State University Ahearn
 Fund.

Ann taught in the Fort Larned school district for 37 years, retiring 
in 2015, but continued to substitute teach up to the time of her death.&nbsp;
 She treasured her years spent in teaching and enjoyed watching former 
students progress through life.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Lindsay (Mitch) Walter, 
Wichita; son, Anthony “Tony” (Misha) Gatterman, Denver; 4 grandsons, 
Cal, Davis, and Archie Walter, and Beau Gatterman; sister, Susan Young, 
Bonner Springs; her “second mother” Norma Gatterman, Larned; nieces, 
Tessa (Eric) Schwarz, Melissa Bennett (Jon), Christina Gatterman, and a 
nephew Travis Young.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a Brother, Larry Young.

Her best times were with her husband, family and friends, going to 
events of her children and grandchildren, cooking, KSU football and 
basketball games, walking her 4-legged friend Sunny, and refereeing 
backyard squirrel hunting.

 3, 1979. He is survived by his daughter, Mandy Deiser of Pryor, OK; 
son, Benjamin “Butch” Deiser II of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Anthony, 
Ke’Andre, Gavin, Peyton, and Jaxon Miller, Dennis “Bubba” and Carter 
Deiser, Grace Betts, and Haley Pfiefer; mother, Ruby Deiser of 
Ellsworth; sisters, Darlene Deiser and Susie Stone both of Ellsworth; 
brothers, Raymond Deiser (Debbie) of Salina, KS and Tim Deiser (Ginny)

Benjamin 'Ben' William Deiser

Kenneth Dean McDaniel, 82, of Colby, formerly of Brewster, died Sunday, 
September 20, 2020, at Prairie Senior Living Complex, Colby. He was born
 April 18, 1938, in Goodland, KS, to Ralph and Evangeline (Coffee) 
McDaniel. Kenneth graduated from Brewster High School in 1957. On June 
15, 1957, at Pleasant Home Church, Brewster, KS, he married Colleen 
Joyce McDaniel. Kenneth was a lifelong farmer and was proud to work the 
family farm. He also raised cattle and pigs. Kenneth drove to Washington
 D.C in the Tractorcade. He was president of Pro Ag Inc., the first 
custom farming group in Northwest Kansas. Kenneth was part of a 
basketball league after high school. He was also a member of the 
Goodland Gun Club and the Goodland Elks Lodge. 


He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ariel Andrist.


Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Colby; children, Carla Sharp,
 Colby, Mike (Marie) McDaniel, Hoxie, Doug (Calli) McDaniel, Goodland 
and Leslie Weber, Seattle WA; grandchildren, Desiree Sharp, Jordan 
(Kendra) Sharp, Ellee McDaniel, Ethan McDaniel, Shanda (Trey) Barnett 
and Brandon Leth and great grandchildren, Shade and Lev Sharp and Lilly 
and Augustus Barnett.

 </figure>Kenneth Dean McDaniel, 82, of Colby, formerly of Brewster, died Sunday, 
September 20, 2020, at Prairie Senior Living Complex, Colby. He was born
 April 18, 1938, in Goodland, KS, to Ralph and Evangeline (Coffee) 
McDaniel. Kenneth graduated from Brewster High School in 1957. On June 
15, 1957, at Pleasant Home Church, Brewster, KS, he married Colleen 
Joyce McDaniel. Kenneth was a lifelong farmer and was proud to work the 
family farm. He also raised cattle and pigs. Kenneth drove to Washington
 D.C in the Tractorcade. He was president of Pro Ag Inc., the first 
custom farming group in Northwest Kansas. Kenneth was part of a 
basketball league after high school. He was also a member of the 
Goodland Gun Club and the Goodland Elks Lodge. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ariel Andrist.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Colby; children, Carla Sharp,
 Colby, Mike (Marie) McDaniel, Hoxie, Doug (Calli) McDaniel, Goodland 
and Leslie Weber, Seattle WA; grandchildren, Desiree Sharp, Jordan 
(Kendra) Sharp, Ellee McDaniel, Ethan McDaniel, Shanda (Trey) Barnett 
and Brandon Leth and great grandchildren, Shade and Lev Sharp and Lilly 
and Augustus Barnett.
A memorial service will take place to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 
2020 at Celebration Community Church, Colby. Memorials are suggested to

Kenneth Dean McDaniel

Diane Lynn Mowry, age 57, of Nickerson, Kansas passed away September 
18, 2020 at her home in Nickerson.&nbsp; She was born November 21, 1962 in 
Burlington, Colorado.&nbsp; The Daughter of James and Bernadine (Griess) 
Bateman.

Diane grew up in Burlington where she worked during the summer on the
 farm of Gene Davis.&nbsp; At age 15 Diane and her family moved to Goodland.&nbsp;
 Being the selfless caregiver that she was she left school after her 
sophomore year to care for her father.&nbsp; She went back to finish high 
school and received her GED in 1981.&nbsp; She attended Fort Hays State 
University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1996
 and went on to receive her Masters Degree in Counseling from Fort Hays 
State University in 1999.&nbsp; She worked at the Norton Prison as a Staff 
Professional Counselor.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was a Dedicated member of Christ Bible 
Church in Nickerson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She Married the love of her life, Kenneth M. Mowery on November 3, 1984.&nbsp;&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.

Survivors &nbsp;include: sons, Kenny (Michelle) Mowery, Ross Mowery, 
Scott( Abby) Mowery; grandsons, Vincent and Elias Mowery; brothers, 
Ricky Colby and Tom Colby; sisters,&nbsp; Barb Fromholtz, Linda Feldt and 
Tina Johnson; aunt’s, Judy Bateman, Retta Hare; uncle, Dale Bateman; her
 best friend of over 40 years, Don Wilken; and many other family members
 and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in Death by her parents; husband; uncle, John Bateman; aunt, Ruby Phiefer; and sister, Marlene&nbsp;&nbsp;Colby.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Diane Lynn Mowry

Carol&nbsp;Haberman, age 66, of Hays, Kansas
 passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at her home. She was born 
January 19, 1954 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Robert Gene and&nbsp;Vada 
Marie (Erickson) McDonald, and grew up&nbsp;in Logan, where she attended 
school graduating in 1972.&nbsp; Carol married Douglas Scott&nbsp;Haberman&nbsp;on 
August 28, 1990 in Hays,&nbsp;and&nbsp;recently celebrated their 30th wedding 
anniversarytogether.

Carol enjoyed camping, traveling, and 
was an avid reader.&nbsp;Carol was a true “people person”, delighting in 
spending time with family and literally dozens of friends. She had an 
ability of making everyone feel welcome;&nbsp;a truly natural gift of 
hospitality.&nbsp;Her nieces and nephews&nbsp;treasure&nbsp;timespent with Aunt Carol. 
She found a special place in every heart&nbsp;that crossed her path.&nbsp;Her warm
 smile and gentle spirit endeared her to all.&nbsp;

Carol&nbsp;was&nbsp;an&nbsp;dedicated&nbsp;supporter of the United Way,&nbsp;and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)&nbsp;for children.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas 
of Hays; two brothers:&nbsp; Linn (Pam) McDonald of&nbsp;Logan, Jim McDonald of 
Logan; one sister:&nbsp; Mary (Ron) Dole of Hill City, together with numerous
 nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents,sister in
 law Crystal McDonald, one niece and one nephew.

Carol Haberman

Doris Irene Slavik, daughter of William and Lavoe (Morgan) Trump, was 
born July 15, 1928.  She was born at her parents' home three and a half 
miles northeast of Kensington, Kansas.  She passed away Saturday, 
September 12, 2020, at Sun Porch of Smith County at the age of 92.


She had no memory of her mother as Lavoe departed this life after a 
brief illness when Doris was only 14 months old.  She was lovingly 
raised by her aunt and uncle, Helen (Trump) and George Davis who lived 
two miles southeast of Kensington.  Her father was also very involved 
with her care and was a major part of her life.  Doris also kept in 
close contact with her grandparents, Michael and Margaret Trump of 
Kensington and Tom and Mabel Morgan of Littleton, Colorado.

Doris received her education in the rural school and high school of Kensington. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She married Elvyn Slavik on July 5, 1946. They farmed for a short 
time near Kirwin, Kansas, and were blessed with a daughter, Elaine, in 
1948. The family moved to Diagonal, Iowa, for a period of time before 
returning to Kansas where they farmed with Doris's father.
Throughout her lifetime Doris was a homemaker and a caregiver. She 
enjoyed cooking and was always trying new recipes. For many years she 
was co-chairman of one of the circle groups at the United Church of 
Kensington that prepared and served meals for the community.
She enjoyed fishing, knitting, playing cards and board games, and 
watching television. Doris and Elvyn went to many dances, and playing 
croquet was a favorite activity for the family. She and Elvyn belonged 
to a pinochle card club for couples, and Doris was also a member of a 
ladies' card club. In addition, she spent many afternoons at the 
Kensington Senior Center playing cards with her friends.
Doris so enjoyed her grandchildren, Bryan Jon and Alana Michelle. 
She and Elvyn made many trips to Marysville, Kansas so they could attend
 basketball games, dance recitals, musicals, and graduations as they 
were always very supportive of their grandchildren and loved being there
 to attend their events and were always proud of their achievements.
She will be remembered for being spunky and spirited, generous to 
her family, honest, and having integrity. Her family will always think 
of her as the “caregiver” as she was still taking care of Elvyn when he 
was 99 years old as they both still lived at home. Doris will be missed
 by her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Larry) Pfeifer, two 
grandchildren, Bryan Pfeifer and Alana (Jeremy) Fries, and other 
relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Lavoe Trump, 
her aunt and uncle, Helen and George Davis, her cousin, Ray Davis, and 
her husband, Elvyn Slavik.
When the family would leave or when saying good-bye on the phone, 
she would always say, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around
