
Eloise J. Smith, 86, passed away November 5, 2020 while residing at Whispering Pines in Norton, Kansas. She was born December 27, 1933 in Oberlin, KS to Gilbert and Adelia (Holmdahl) Anderson.
Eloise was raised
in rural Oberlin and a DCHS graduate. After graduation, she attended
Denver Business School. On August 31, 1952, she married Leland N. Smith
at the Lund Covenant Church. They raised two children, Marie and Wesley.
Leland and Eloise celebrated 67 years of marriage before Leland’s
passing in 2019.
Eloise worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, and a School Board Clerk.
She was a member of the Oberlin Covenant church and the Zeta Nu Club. In
her free time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading and
nature rides around the farm.
Eloise is survived by daughter, Marie Stapleton and her husband,
John; son, Wesley Smith; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Lisa Johnson and
her husband Gary, and Jason Warren, and great-granddaughter, Nichole
Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Adelia
Anderson; sister, Phyllis Klich and her husband Jim; brother-in-law,
Clayton Smith; sisters-in-law, Melba Hartley, Theodora May Reber and her
husband Johnny.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 9, 2020
at the Oberlin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 1:00pm
Monday, November 9, 2020 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin.
