Alice Wagoner

John Arthur Cederberg, 86, passed away September 16, 2020 at the Decatur
 County Hospital in Oberlin, KS. God took another good one home.


John was born the third child to John “Walter” and Edith (Glad) 
Cederberg on a hot day, July 11, 1934 in Oberlin, KS. He went to country
 school near their family farm in Rawlins County. John was very athletic
 and loved most sports. When he started high school, he moved to Oberlin
 and lived with his Aunt Sidna during the week. He loved baseball, 
football and basketball. After graduation, John went to Kansas State 
University. That fall he discovered wrestling and competed on the 
wrestling squad for K-State. He was drafted and entered into the Army in
 the fall of 1954. John proudly served his country and was stationed in 
Germany post-war. He played on several of the army’s ball teams while 
serving. His father needed surgery after two years, so John left the 
military and came home to farm. When he returned home, he was on active 
reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1962. 


John married Barbara Eckhardt in 1958 in Oberlin. To this union, two
 daughters were born, Janet and Cynthia. In 1969 John decided to 
continue his education, first commuting to Colby Community College, and 
then finally returned to Kansas State. John graduated with a bachelor’s 
degree in Agriculture in 1971. They returned to the farm near Herndon 
and John farmed and taught agriculture and industrial arts classes in 
Herndon. In 1975, John was set up on a blind date with Ardythe Slatt by 
his ex-sister-in-law Corky. They dated a couple of years with a weekly 
date for prime rib on Saturday night. They were married in McCook, NE 
July 16,1977, on a blistering hot day. Ardythe and the girls joined the 
family with all five girls in high/middle school. His life was filled 
with women and their many school activities. John retired from teaching 
in 1979 and farmed full time until he retired in 2007, when they moved 
to Oberlin. John enjoyed having his family at home. He looked forward to
 playing pinochle and pitch with family and friends. John was baptized 
on August 19, 1934 and his confirmation was on August 22, 1948. His 
devotion to Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin was great and he came to be
 known as the “Gummi Bear Man” to the grandkids and children at church. 
He always had a package in his pocket for any hungry child. John was 
diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 20 years ago and began the long battle.
 He moved into the Good Samaritan Society Home in Oberlin, January of 
2019. 


John is survived by his beloved wife, Ardythe, daughters, Janet 
Cederberg (Ward) Olson, Colorado Springs, CO; Cindy (Ron) Sattler, 
Herndon; stepdaughters: Diane (Don) Ruppert, McCook,  NE; Denise (Larry)
 Pettera, North Platte, NE; and Renae (Jim) Wolf, Pierre, SD; 
grandchildren: Tanner (Jolene) Pettera, Eric Sattler, Erin Pettera, Adam
 Ruppert, Dana (Chase) Juenemann, Derek (Bethany O’Neal) Ruppert, Chloe 
(Lucas) Brown, Dalton Pettera, Mariah (Taylor Klinitski) Olson, Christa 
(Eric) Trumbull, Jamie Wolf, Megan Ruppert, Cianna Olson;  9 
great-grandchildren: Arlo, Payton, Paycie, Parker, Jayda, Avril, Boston,
 Presley, and Tate; sister, Margorie (Charles) Lindgren; brother, James 
(Judy) Cederberg; sister-in-law, Mardelle Gocek; and brother-in-law, 
Merlin (Rosemary) Anderson.


John was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, stepson, David 
Slatt; sister, Pauline Mainson and her husband John, and brother-in-law,
 Walter Gocek.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 19, 
2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, Oberlin. The service will be live 
streamed on Pauls Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Burial with military 
honors will follow at Oberlin Cemetery at 11:15 am. Visitation will be 
12-7:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2020 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. 
Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may 
be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Good Samaritan Society, or the Golden

John Arthur Cederberg

Joseph P. “Joe” Werth, 84, Hays, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Via Christi Village.

He was born January 13, 1936 in Park, 
Kansas, the son Robert and Theresa (Werth) Werth. &nbsp;Joe was a graduate of
 Park High School in the class of 1953. On April 3, 1956 he was united 
in marriage to Agnes Kaiser at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, and
 they celebrated 64 years of marriage. &nbsp;He was retired from motel sales 
and operation and enjoyed his farm ground, landscaping, and woodworking,
 making cribs and changing tables for his great grandchildren. &nbsp;His 
memberships included Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Third 
Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984, and Fourth Degree Knights of 
Columbus Bishop Cunningham Assembly.

Survivors include his wife Agnes, of 
the home in Hays, a son; Stephen Werth and wife Mary of Paola, two 
daughters; Patricia Hafer and husband Roger of League City, TX and 
Jolene Werth of Overland Park, three brothers; Marcellus Werth and wife 
Saundra of Wichita, Marvin Werth of Wichita, and Jerry Werth of Aztec, 
NM, a sister; Irene Flax of Wright, a sister-in-law; Freida Werth of 
Wichita, six grandchildren; Lee Hafer, Justin Hafer, Tyler Werth and 
wife Nicole, Natalie Thiessen and husband Tyler, Andrew Werth, and 
William Werth, a step granddaughter; Jessica Blanc and husband Jordan, 
eight great grandchildren; Laine, Meryl, and Everett Werth, Kade, Avery,
 and Henry Thiessen, Archer Werth, and Marleigh Hafer, and two step 
great grandchildren; Ember and Stella Blanc.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, two brothers; Cyril and Edwin Werth, three sisters; Genevieve 
Weis, Hermina Weis, and Herlinda Small, and a granddaughter; Jennifer 
Hafer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary 
Catholic Church, with Fr. Nick Parker and Fr. Alvin Werth officiating. 
&nbsp;Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 
5:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all 
at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. The Bishop Cunningham Fourth 
Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5:30 pm until 
6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30 pm, followed by a combined Third 
and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Sunday at the

Joseph P. 'Joe' Werth

Loretta Marie Tyler, 71, died Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at her home in Dodge City.

She was born June 28, 1949 at Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of 
Herbert and Clara (Sharrock) Schale.&nbsp; On September 7, 1978 she married 
Rev. William “Bill” Tyler at Syracuse, Kansas.&nbsp; She moved to Dodge City 
in 2008, previously living in Cimarron and Tribune.&nbsp; She was a cook at 
Greeley County Long Term Care and worked at the Ampride both in 
Tribune.&nbsp; She helped Bill with his carpentry work as well as being a 
preacher’s wife.&nbsp; She collected dolls and was a dog breeder and enjoyed 
crocheting and quilting.&nbsp; She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls 
and her sense of humor.

She was a member of the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include: her son, Kenneth Tyler and wife Gwen, Holly, 
Colorado, her daughter, Kim Hensley, Dodge City; 2 step-sons, Arlin 
Tyler and wife Jeannie, Bethany, Oklahoma and Ardee Tyler and wife 
Penny, Arrow Rock, Missouri; a step-daughter, Tova Barnes and husband 
Dale, Syracuse, Kansas; close friend, Henry Brensing, Dodge City; 3 
brothers, Alvin Schale and wife Janie, Amarillo, Texas, Herbert Schale 
and wife Norma, Livingston, Texas and Joseph Schale and wife Shirley, 
Pratt, Kansas; 2 sisters, Shirley Eirhart, Lamar and Stella Parkison, 
Livingston; a grandson, Aaron Hensley and wife Amanda, 8 great

 Dodge City Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Justin Hayes officiating.&nbsp; 
Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Dodge. 
Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at
 Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

Sue Ellen Sonnenberg, 77, passed away on September 14, 2020, at the 
Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on 
December 5, 1942, in South Gate, California the daughter of Richard and 
Bernice (Ludwigston) Risley.

Lillian M. (Dreiling) Schumacher, age 87, of Victoria, Kansas, died Friday, September 11, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born June 14,&nbsp;1933, in Victoria, Kansas, to Leo J. and Albina&nbsp; (Jacobs) Dreiling.&nbsp; She married Leland H. Schumacher on November 5, 1962, in Victoria, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 2, 2014.

She was a homemaker, a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis and Daughters of Isabella all of Victoria.&nbsp; She grew up in the Catharine and Victoria area, and was a 1951 graduate of Girls Catholic High School.&nbsp; She made her home in Victoria until moving to St. John’s/Via Christi Village Care Center in 2013.&nbsp; Lillian enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, and traveling on many bus tours across the United States.&nbsp;

Lillian was often recognized for her many charitable efforts in and around the area. She was a recipient of the TMP-Marian 2014 Point of Light award for her commitment to catholic education. Her generosity to health care included Hays Medical Center Foundation, and the opening of the Lillian Schumacher Therapy Center at St. John’s/Via Christi Village Care Center.&nbsp;

Lillian was the last living sibling of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leo Francis Dreiling, John G. Dreiling, Thomas Dreiling; twin infant brothers, Virgil John and Frederick Joseph Dreiling; and four sisters, Anita Feltis, Irene Kippes, Shirley Gross, and one infant sister, Lillian Margaret Dreiling. Survivors include numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Basilica of St. Fidelis or TMP-Marian High School in care of the mortuary &nbsp;

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas. &nbsp;

Cinch Everette Barta, 2 weeks old, of Colby, KS, died Tuesday, September
 15, 2020. He was born August 26, 2020, in Colby, to Dillon and Ashley 
(Burton) Barta. Cinch was an amazing baby for the time his family had 
with him. He was such a laid-back baby and was the sweetest little boy 
ever. He was loved by all. 


Cinch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Linda Barta; 
great grandfather Grant Schnase and great grandmother Mary Gillming.

LeRoy L. Herrman, “Herrman the German," age 87, joined the Lord Tuesday, September 15, 2020, surrounded by his family at Via Christi in Hays, KS.&nbsp; LeRoy started his life on February 21, 1933, where he was born and raised in Liebenthal, KS. His parents were Reinhold and Emma (Wolf) Herrman.

LeRoy graduated from LaCrosse High School, where his love of music excelled. His second, but most important love, was Bernice (Basgall) whom he married on October 15, 1952, in Hays, KS. They were coming up on their 68th wedding anniversary.

After graduation, LeRoy joined the Marine Corp, where he played in the Marine Corp Band.&nbsp; After that, he came back to Hays in 1956, to start Herrman Electric with his favorite helper, “Bernice the Boss”.&nbsp; Around 1967, they started Shady Rest Campground, which eventually began the Camper &amp; RV Center in 1972. They were now selling RVs, doing electrical work, trucking, and harvesting.&nbsp; In 1981, Herrman the German and Bernice the Boss moved north of Interstate and started Great Plains Chrysler Ply-Dodge, along with the Camper and RV Center. LeRoy and Bernice eventually sold the dealership and moved the Camper and RV Center to its current location south of Hays on Old 40 Highway.

While building their business and raising a family, Brenda and Roger, LeRoy was also busy gathering his band, “The Herrmanettes”. The Herrmanettes consisted of LeRoy, his brothers, Artie, Ron and Vernon, son, Roger, nephew, Randy, and many other players over the years. The band played polka, rock, and country music all over Midwest Kansas, venturing into Colorado, for over 40 years. LeRoy met a lot of people during that time and helped them enjoy life to the fullest.

LeRoy and Bernice were very involved with Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where LeRoy was a member of the 4th Degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly of Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of American Legion Post #173 and V.F.W. Post 9076.&nbsp; LeRoy was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp and helped establish the local Marine Corp League. He was also a previous Pay Master and Commandant for the local Edwin Schumacher League #740, all of Hays, KS.

When he did not have a ‘gig’ for the weekend, it was camping, boating, and fishing with his family and friends. We will miss you tremendously!

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Herrman of the home; daughter, Brenda Marie Herrman-Morrissey, Hays, KS; son, Roger L. Herrman, Hays, KS; two grandchildren, Jacine Marie Morrissey and Spencer L. Leroy L. Herrman

Betty Lou Rundel (Christiansen), 85, was born in Colby, KS September 20,
 1934 and passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Swedish Medical 
Center, Denver, CO. Betty married John R. Rundel (Johnny) on April 17, 
1954 in Raton, NM. She was a homemaker, businesswoman and farmer. 


She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Rundel; son Robert (Bob)
 Rundel; her parents, Arley and Rosa (Dotie) Christiansen; brother, Baby
 Christiansen and brother-in-law Skip Runzel.


She is survived by her siblings, Bonnie (Christiansen) Biggs and husband
 Walt, of McDonald, Ken Christiansen and wife Janet, Brewster, Kay 
(Christiansen) Runzel, of St. Francis; children, John A. Rundel and wife
 Zita, of Trenton, NE, daughter-in-law Pam Rundel Arnold, of Farnum, NE,
 Chris Rundel and wife Clarris, of Topeka and Tom and wife Nancy, of 
Levant; grandchildren, James Rundel, Lenay Rundel Marteney and husband 
Justin, Wyatt Rundel, Brady Rundel, Tatym Rundel, Adam Rundel, Case 
Rundel and Colton Rundel; great-grandchildren, Brittan Marteney and

Betty led a busy life full of family, farming, animals and hard work. 
She took great pride in her poultry flock, winning Grand Champion many 
times at the Thomas County Free Fair. As a former 4-H’er, who had the 
Grand Champion Steer during her 4-H years, she instilled a love for 4-H 
and animals in her grandchildren and supported their efforts in raising 
and showing livestock. Many great memories are wrapped around Grandma 
Betty’s campsite during fair week. There were always plenty of snacks, a
 place to nap and water or pop for her grandchildren and their friends. 
She had a love for all animals, dogs, cats, poultry, sheep and cattle. 
Over the years she fed bottle lambs and bucket calves, and adopted 
several dogs and cats from vet clinics and animal shelters. She was well
 known as a “good feeder” of her animals who were all plump and happy.


Betty was also proud of her farm, and in earlier years did most of the 
farming herself after Johnny’s death in 1988. Once her sons and 
grandsons were able to do the farming, she kept a close watch and fixed 
many “field lunches” to keep them well fed. She also worked for Wal-Mart
 as a CSM from 1989 until 2006, even getting a chance to have coffee 
with Wal-Mart founder, Sam Walton.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17 from 5-7 pm, at 
Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. A graveside service will be held on Friday, 
September 18 at 11:00 am in Beulah Cemetery, Colby, KS. In lieu of 
flowers memorials are suggested to the Northwest Kansas Animal Shelter, 
Goodland, KS, Thomas County Historical Society or the Prairie Museum of

Eileen Jesse Roehl was born October 16, 1922, in Salina, Kansas, to Jesse
 R. and Irene (Morgan) Anderson. She transitioned from this life 
September 10, 2020, in Ness City, Kansas. Eileen married Sol Roehl May 
17, 1943, in Clovis, New Mexico. Three children were born to this union: 
 Sol L., Carol, and Jeannie. Eileen spent much of her married life as a 
homemaker. She had many jobs as she stayed home with her children. She 
took in ironing, made potato salad to sell at the local grocery, and 
babysat.


After Sol died in 1973, she took college classes and became a 
computer operator. When she retired from her computer job she began 
babysitting again. She dearly loved each child she cared for and thought
 of each of them as her own grandchild. As Eileen’s health began to 
fail, she moved to an assisted living home in Hutchinson and then to a 
long-term care facility in Ness City where she passed away.


Eileen was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse R. Anderson and 
Irene Marlin; husband; her daughter Carol and Carol’s husband Billy Gunn
 ; her two brothers Duane Anderson and Billy Marlin; She is survived by 
her son Sol “Butch” Roehl and his wife Joyce of Ness City; her daughter 
Jean Gisel of Clinton, Iowa;  eight grandchildren:  Sherry (Fred) 
Humbree, Larry (Tammy) Roehl, Terry Roehl, Shanda (Scott) Studt, Skye 
(Alan) Christiansen, Corie Novak, Ashley (Timothy) Woodward and Justin 
Gisel; fourteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Eileen Jesse Roehl

Betty F. (Wilkerson) Martindale was born on September 27, 1927, in Martinez, CA and passed from this world on August 20, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK.

She was the youngest of six children born to Earl Lavanda Wilkerson and Cella Arthesia Wilkerson (Gallagher).

She graduated from Alhambra High School in Martinez in 1945. In August of the same year, she married Arrell Dean Martindale, after his return from the war. They had six children over the next 17 years, traveling wherever the Army sent them. Retiring from the military in 1967, they moved permanently to Dean’s hometown of Phillipsburg, KS, where they lived until 2016 when poor health caused them to relocate.

Betty was a homemaker and her family meant everything to her. She worked part-time at the Mark V motel for 10 years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved music of all kinds, but especially enjoyed the old gospel hymns she was raised on.

She was preceded in death by Dean, her beloved husband of 71 years, her parents and five siblings, her daughter Chris, her grandson Justin, her granddaughter Stephanie, and son-in-law Alancy Price.

She leaves behind 5 children: D.J.(Joe) of Salina, KS, Dean, Jr. and wife Pam of Oklahoma City, Patrick and wife Jean of Oklahoma City, Nicki Price of Shawnee, KS, and Roy and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.&nbsp; The services will be streamed live on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Funeral-Service---Cemetery/Olliff-Boeve-Memorial-Chapel-158648587502325/">Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page</a>.&nbsp;

Retiring from the military in 1967, they moved permanently to Dean’s hometown of Phillipsburg, KS, where they lived until 2016 when poor health caused them to relocate.Betty was a homemaker and her family meant everything to her. She worked part-time at the Mark V motel for 10 years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Gary R. Grandy, 77, passed away September 14, 2020 at his home in Rozel.

He was born October 2, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Preston and Grace Olive Pfenninger Grandy.

A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Rozel United 
Methodist Church, where he served on many boards and as a youth leader. 
He was a member of the Rozel Lions Club and the Garfield American 
Legion. He served in the United States Navy, two terms on the 
conservation board, and the Pawnee County Fair Board. Gary was a farmer 
and had many hobbies: he liked making and collecting walking sticks, 
traveling, going to the lake, fishing trips, golfing, and spending time 
with his family and friends.&nbsp;

On November 6, 1966 he married Faye Hagewood at Trousdale, Kansas; she survives.

Survivors include: wife, Faye, Rozel; daughter, Tina (Todd) Hyburg, 
Lebanon, Connecticut; son, Crieg Grandy, Larned; six grandchildren, 
Kacey Grandy, Rachelle Hyburg, Jacob Hyburg, Kendra Grandy, Cody Hyburg,
 Jerimiah Hyburg; and two great grandchildren, Grayson Grandy, and 
Karcyn Grandy.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Grandy; his parents, and a brother, Darrell Grandy.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 
Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Berniece Ludlum and Pastor

Geraldine Marie “Gerri” (Brungardt) Enslinger, 83, passed away on September 11, 2020, in Lenexa, Kansas.

Gerri was born on November 7, 1936, in Victoria, Kansas, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt.&nbsp; She was a 1954 graduate of Hays High School.&nbsp; On September 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger in Hays, Kansas, and they were married for 62 years.

Survivors include her husband Cornelius Enslinger of Lenexa, Kansas; a daughter, Gloria Rohr and husband Neil of Morgan Hill, California;&nbsp; three sons, Darrell Enslinger of Olathe, Kansas; Dennis Enslinger and husband Tom Lore of Washington, D.C.; and Dean Enslinger and wife Chelsea of Overland Park, Kansas.&nbsp;

She has 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by five sisters: Doreen Wildeman of Grainfield, Kansas; Mae Suppes of Great Bend, Kansas; Helen Van Quaethem of Kansas City, Missouri; Mary Brungardt and Rose Brungardt, both of Overland Park, Kansas; and her brother Dale Brungardt and wife Thuong of Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Balthasar and Rosa (Frank) Brungardt, and John and Anna (Broekelman) Wellbrock; her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Brungardt; and brother-in-laws John Van Quaethem, Edward Suppes, and Francis Wildeman.

Gerri was a shipping clerk for A.P.S. Warehouse in Great Bend, Kansas. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella for 61 years, St. Patrick Altar Society, and the Central Kansas Thread Benders Quilt Club.

Longtime Goodland, KS, resident Pamela M. Cullen, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at her home in Goodland.

She was born on May 26, 1934, in Columbia County, Oregon, the daughter of Fred J. and Gladys M (Lamb) Larsen.&nbsp; She attended school through the 8th grade.&nbsp;

On May 1, 1977, she married Maurice M. Cullen in Elko County, Nevada.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and loved to garden and work in her yard which won her yard of the month.&nbsp; She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, three half-sisters and one half-brother.

She is survived by her three children Kurt Childress and Mark Childress of Goodland, KS and David Childress of Florida.&nbsp; She is also survived by four step children, one brother Charles Larsen of Scappoose, Oregon, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM MT with a Parish Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 PM at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland.

Pamela May (Larsen) Cullen

Littleton, Colorado, resident Gary D. Isabell passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, NE at the age of 64.

Gary was born July 12, 1956 in Denver, CO the son of Roy and Florence (Sardini) Isabell.&nbsp; Gary graduated from Kennedy Senior High School in Denver, Colorado in 1974. &nbsp;He started his railroad career shortly after.&nbsp;

Gary married the love of his life, Deanna Lynn Ingram, on June 19, 1976, in Long Island, KS. He spent his life devoted&nbsp;to his wife. They spent an amazing 44 years together.

Gary had a love of fishing and hunting and spent many years going to&nbsp;the same locations with the same people instilling the love of hunting&nbsp;into his son and others as well. He would look forward to his annual hunting&nbsp;trip each year where he did all the grocery shopping and planned the meals.&nbsp;

Gary also took his family on many camping trips every year to many&nbsp;different locations across the United States. He planned the vacations around each&nbsp;family members interests and wishes. Vacations were special to Gary because he got to&nbsp;spend time with his family and experience many new things. He loved to find interesting and unique food items and bring them to his father in law to try.&nbsp;

He spent many days fishing with both of his children, his wife and eventually his grandchildren. After 42 years of service, Gary retired as an engineer in August of 2016.&nbsp; He spent most of his retirement summers in Kansas with his family where&nbsp;he loved the lake and the land.&nbsp;

Gary's grandchildren had a special place in his heart; from picking up his grandchildren from school in the "fast black car," placing his granddaughter’s picture in his work&nbsp;locker and telling everyone who it was and building her a garden bed; and to buying his grandson a small tractor to chase him&nbsp;in the yard while he mowed.&nbsp;

Gary loved his son in law as if he was his own son. He loved to sit and talk with his son in law about everything and nothing.&nbsp;


Gary had an enormous heart and was extremely generous. He would do anything&nbsp;for anyone who was in need. He spent this summer helping mow his father in laws yard and even the neighbor’s yard too. &nbsp;He was often known to visit lemonade stands of&nbsp;children in his neighborhood and give them $20 and not take the lemonade.

Gary had the habit of making a huge impact on the people around him. He would&nbsp;talk to everyone around him whether it was at the campground, work, or even at the store. He loved to sit and make conversation with anyone who happened to be&nbsp;around. Gary had a way of making that person feel important.

Gary is survived by his wife, Deanna and son Chris, both of Littleton, CO and daughter Teri Lingane and husband Justin of Denver, CO; two grandchildren Cody and Shelby; and a sister Kathy May of Rock Springs, WY.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in the Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, KS.

Gary D. Isabell

Marvin Lee Wright, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2020, at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on August 19, 1943, in Logan County, Kansas, the son of William Clifford and Margaret Idella Russell Wright. A lifetime resident of Scott County, Kansas, Marvin was a diesel mechanic at Long’s 96 Repair, feed yard maintenance worker at Fairleigh feed yard, and HRC Feed Yard. 

Marvin was a member of Turning Point Nazarene Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On November 5, 1966, Marvin married Vicki Cheryl Finkenbinder at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Scott City, Kansas, sons Terry &amp; Melissa Wright of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Jeff and Arnita Wright of Topeka, Kansas, one daughter, Kim and Don Dinkel of Ellis, Kansas, three sisters; Della Morgan of Healy, Kansas, Sue West of Scott City, Kansas, and Carolyn Hundertmark of Scott City, Kansas, and eight brothers; Dewey, Dan, Wilbur, Marion, Roy, Gary and Harold all of Scott City, Kansas and Galen Wright of Sublette, Kansas, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by His parents, Clifford and Idella Wright, four brothers; Harlan, Cleve, Milton, and Elvin; One sister; Velda Spencer. 

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. In the Scott County Cemetery with Terry &amp; Melissa Wright presiding.

Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Marvin was a member of Turning Point Nazarene Church in Scott City, Kansas.On November 5, 1966, Marvin married Vicki Cheryl Finkenbinder at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Scott City, Kansas.Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Scott City, Kansas, sons Terry &amp; Melissa Wright of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Jeff and Arnita Wright of Topeka, Kansas, one daughter, Kim and Don Dinkel of Ellis, Kansas, three sisters; Della Morgan of Healy, Kansas, Sue West of Scott City, Kansas, and Carolyn Hundertmark of Scott City, Kansas, and eight brothers; Dewey, Dan, Wilbur, Marion, Roy, Gary and Harold all of Scott City, Kansas and Galen Wright of Sublette, Kansas, and five grandchildren.He was preceded in death by His parents, Clifford and Idella Wright, four brothers; Harlan, Cleve, Milton, and Elvin; One sister; Velda Spencer. Marvin Lee Wright

Flossie George, 79, died on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton.  She was born on September 11, 1941 at Eminence, 
Missouri the daughter of Ivan Lee &amp; Flossie (Hall) Phillips.  She 
married Jerry H. George on April 4, 1964 at Eminence, Missouri.


Flossie attended schools in Eminence and moved to St Louis to work in a 
factory.  After her marriage she moved to the family farm near 
Ellington, Missouri where she raised her family and later worked at the 
Paramount Cap Factory and a local diner.  In 1988 they moved to Salt 
Lake City, Utah for 5 years where she worked at the Flying J Truck Stop.
  They moved to Kearney, Nebraska for 23 years where she worked at the 
Buckle Store and moved to Gove 4 years ago.  She was a member of the 
First Baptist Church of Kearney, Nebraska and enjoyed cooking, 
crocheting, Elvis Presley music and attending her Grandchildren and 
Great-Grandchildren’s activities.


She is survived by her husband Jerry George, 3 Sons- Jeffrey W. (Elaine)
 George of Eureka, Missouri, John D. (Tricia) George of Ellington,

Elta Ileen (Detjen) Rall passed away September 13, 2020 at the age of 
87. She was born August 8, 1933 in Sheridan County Kansas to Albert and 
Ella (Hesterberg) Detjen. She married Elmer Rall April 9, 1961 at the 
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hoxie, Kansas. To this union three sons were 
born, Doug, David and Dennis.


Elta worked at many businesses in Hoxie including the Hoxie Grade 
School. She babysat for numerous children and also became an 
accomplished seamstress, patching jeans, making clothes for her children
 and sewing many quilts for her family members. Gardening was also a 
well-loved past time for her.


Elta is survived by sons Doug (Lisa), David (Sandy) and Dennis all 
of Hoxie; grandsons Clayton (Megan) of Tucson, Arizona and Taylor (Alex)
 of Hoxie; and two great granddaughters, Brandon of Tucson, Arizona and 
Crimsyn of Hoxie; sister Agnes Lewis of Colby and a host of nieces and 
nephews.


She was preceded in Death by her husband, Elmer Rall; parents, 
Albert and Ella; sister, Arleta Detjen; and brother-in-law, Larry Lewis.


Elta loved to be around her family especially her grandchildren and will be missed by all.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, 
10:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie, Kansas. Interment

Elta (Hesterberg) Rall

Barbara Lynn Dyatt was born September 5, 1938, and died peacefully on July 31, 2020 after a long illness.

Known as “Lynn”, she was a treasured sister, aunt, cousin, colleague,
 friend, and Irish music enthusiast. Lynn was born and raised on a wheat
 farm just outside of Goodland, Kansas. The daughter of Hugh M. Dyatt 
and Gladys “Tot” Ward Dyatt, she loved nothing better than working 
side-by-side with her dad in those golden wheat fields and playing with a
 succession of dogs that were inevitably by her side.

She attended grade school and high school in Goodland and received 
her B.A. and M.A. from Fort Hays State University. Following graduation,
 Lynn and her sister Donna began a commitment to teaching elementary 
children in Salina, Kansas. They then moved to Colorado Springs where 
each pursued other careers in business.&nbsp; They were each other’s best 
friends and loyal companions until Donna’s death. Even after her 
retirement Lynn was deeply involved in adult education and numerous 
civic activities in Colorado Springs.

For many years Lynn was an enthusiastic member of the Crystal Park 
community where she relished the quiet, the views, and the wildlife of 
her home at the top of the mountain. In the last few years of her life, 
Lynn lived in the Kissing Camels Community in Colorado Springs and 
became an active friend and neighbor with a quick wit and zest for 
anything fun. Lynn was an accomplished photographer whose photographs 
leave a lasting legacy of her love for the world around her and her 
family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing her tin whistle which
 she mastered very late in life and which led her to Ireland several 
times and to participate with several Irish music groups and 
enthusiasts.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Joyce Yeaton and Donna Dyatt.

She is survived by nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who 
treasured her friendship and her unending curiosity and good humor. Lynn
 and Donna were “adopted” members of the Reed family in Colorado Springs
 who were especially loving to Lynn during the last years. Lynn’s family
 is particularly grateful to the Reed family and Lynn’s many friends who
 were with her through her illness and in her final days.&nbsp;

A special thank you to the Healthcare Resort of Colorado Springs for 
their loving care of Lynn during her last year, and the staff of Pikes 
Peak Hospice for their comfort in her last hours.

Graveside services will be held in Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, Kansas at a later date.

Joyce (Bohl) French, age 76, of Salina, Kansas, went to be with the 
Lord our Savior on September 12, 2020 in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; She was 
born August 12, 1944 to Harvey and Joy (Devalt) Bohl in Elkhart, 
Kansas.&nbsp; She grew up and went to school in Walsh, Colorado.&nbsp;

Joyce was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, 
Kanss.&nbsp; She loved God and loved telling her grandkids Bible stories.&nbsp; 
She enjoyed teaching preschool Sunday school classes, serving in the 
church nursery, traveling to see family, reading and dearly loved 
spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death are her parents, grandparents and sister, Loretta Dunnam.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Larry) Ostrander of Hastings,

Joyce (Bohl) French

Patricia May (O’Toole) Nichol of Utica, KS passed away 12 days before her 91st birthday on September 12, 2020, at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, KS.

Patricia was born on September 24, 1929, to Albert O’Toole and Bessie 
(Larrabee) O’Toole at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays, KS. An only child, 
she grew up on the family farm in Southern Trego County and graduated 
from WaKeeney / Trego Community High School in 1947. From there, life 
took Patricia to Fort Hays Kansas State College where she was the second
 of four generations to earn a degree from there. While there, she was a
 member of the Tri-Sigma Sorority, was the Panhellenic Council 
President, and was chosen the 1951 Reveille Yearbook Queen by Bing 
Crosby.&nbsp; In addition to earning her Bachelor of Science in Education, 
she met a tall, handsome gentleman from Palco, KS. It was said that many
 young Fort Hays gentlemen had hopes of winning Patricia’s heart, but 
when Donald Lee Nichol came into the room, everyone knew that they no 
longer had a shot, because she only had eyes for him.

from WaKeeney / Trego Community High School in 1947. From there, life 
took Patricia to Fort Hays Kansas State College where she was the second
 of four generations to earn a degree from there. While there, she was a
 member of the Tri-Sigma Sorority, was the Panhellenic Council 
President, and was chosen the 1951 Reveille Yearbook Queen by Bing 
Crosby.&nbsp; In addition to earning her Bachelor of Science in Education, 
she met a tall, handsome gentleman from Palco, KS. It was said that many
 young Fort Hays gentlemen had hopes of winning Patricia’s heart, but 
when Donald Lee Nichol came into the room, everyone knew that they no 
longer had a shot, because she only had eyes for him.After graduation, Donald left for Korea and Patricia began her 
teaching career at Osborne High School. A student from that time 
recalls, that while standing on the stage as a new teacher, Miss 
O’Toole’s introduction to students drew whistles from the high school 
boys.&nbsp;After teaching in Osborne for a year, Patricia moved to Ness City 
where she taught and was later joined by her future husband, Donald.On June 5, 1954, Donald and Patricia were married at the WaKeeney 
Presbyterian Church. In 1960, Albert Lee was born and Lynette Ann 
followed in 1964.Together they made their home, living on the same family farm in 
which Patricia had grown-up, living near her parents and her uncles’ 
families. They experienced ups and downs as all couples do, but Patricia
 continued her career, teaching English, directing plays, and acting as a
 librarian. She will be long remembered for making her students brownies
 and the many other ways she went above and beyond for her students. In 
addition to being a full-time teacher and mom, Patricia was also a 
pillar of the communities that she loved.She was a faithful member of the Arnold United Methodist Church, 
United Methodist Women, and the Fort Hays State University Alumni 
Association. She loved to research her family genealogy and especially 
enjoyed the annual summer gathering when everyone came together to enjoy
 ice cream and share new information. She made two trips to Ireland, one
 of which she met her cousins and visited the original O’Toole family 
farm. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved Fort Hays State 
football and basketball, Kansas State football, Kansas basketball, the 
Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.Patricia’s pride and joy were her entire family, but especially her children and grandchildren.Patricia is survived by a son, Albert Lee Nichol and his wife 
Caroline. Their children: Jeremiah, Jessica, Jacob, Caleb, Joshua, and 
Hannah.A daughter, Lynette and her children, Madeline and AnnaBelle and many other cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald.Celebrating a Life Well Lived, Patricia’s service will be held, 
Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Ransom / Western Plains High School 
gymnasium in Ransom, KS at 10:00 a.m. Services will be livestreamed 
online on Fitzgerald Funeral Home Facebook page. Viewing will be on 
Friday, September 18, 2020, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. – 
9:00 p.m. Those attending are asked to respect masking and social 
distancing guidelines. Burial will follow at the WaKeeney City Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Arnold United Methodist Church or the Western Plains School District.Memories and words of support may be left for the family by signing the guestbook page.
