Blanche VonLintel, age 99, of Hays, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society, Hays. She was born July 10, 1921 in Ellis County, Kansas to Andrew and Adeline (Rupp) Rupp. She was married to Ben VonLintel who preceded her in death in 1985.

Blanche was a long time Hair Stylist owning her first salon at the age of 18 and continued her 50 year career until her retirement from Blanche's. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the daughters of Isabella. Blanche had a particular fondness for dogs.

She is survived by two sons, William VonLintel and wife Laura of Hays and John VonLintel and wife Robie of Florida; five grandchildren, Amy and Megan VonLintel, Ben and Nick VonLintel and Jacob VonLintel and wife Joanne of Hays; five great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Marq Rupp of Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dr. Thomas VonLintel; infant daughter, Gloria VonLintel; a grandson, J.T. VonLintel and brothers, Mike, Francis, Hank and Marvin Rupp.

Family services will be 11:30 AM Friday, October 2, 2020 at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Blanche VonLintel

Caterina “Rina” Amoruso was born in Naples, Italy on January 21, 1922 to John Giovanni and Carolina Amoruso. Rina spent many hard years growing up and surviving during WWII.

Rina married Jess Clarence Miller on July 11, 1945 in Naples, Italy. Rina was an Italian war bride.

After Rina and infant son David arrived in the USA on June 17, 1946, she took up residency as a farm wife in Bazine, KS alongside her husband Jess Clarence Miller.&nbsp; Rina found she loved farming and enjoyed “playing in the dirt” and helping things grow.&nbsp; Rina loved all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She also loved all those who lived around her both on the farm and in town. Rina and Jess taught their children and grandchildren to be good people and hard workers.

To the marriage of Jesse and Rina Miller was born David Richard Miller (Deceased) Virginia Fay Depperschmidt, and husband Leo, Edna Kay Ayres, Linda Lou Denning, Marlene Jean Winter and husband Roland, and Julie Jane Tejeda and husband Eddie.

Rina is preceded in death by her husband on January 27, 1998; her parents John and Caroline; brothers Benidetto Amoruso, Pasquale Amoruso, and Nicolo Amoruso; and her sister Nietta Delauro.&nbsp;

Rina is survived by the above mentioned; children and spouses. She was a loving Grandmother to Trina Coast, Lori Strasser, Jason Herl, Jared Herl (Megan), Jesse Denning (Jennifer), Molly Gauger (Josh), Rolland Winter, Joey Roth (Matt), Julianna Montgomery (Brian), and Megan Coleman (Jesse), Lana Kirkley (Martin).

Rina has many great grandchildren including CJ Coast, Kevin Coast, Kristina Herl, Connor Harrell, Cayden Harrell, Bailey Harrell, Saige Herl, Wyatt Herl, Maverick Herl, Morley Coleman, Hadley Coleman, Alexis Winter (Fiance Skyler Markham), Jake Montgomery, Joey Montgomery, Cameron Roth, Haley Roth, Melody Gauger.&nbsp;

Rina also has much love for her great-great grandchildren Araya Coast and Everette Winter, as well as many nieces and nephews and family.&nbsp;

Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hays. Pastor Rocco Mallardi will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crandall Cemetery in rural Bazine, Kansas.

Visitation will be Saturday 12:00 PM until service time at the church.

Rebecca Lynn Baer, 59, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.

Rebecca was born on August 08, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of William P. and Iva Darlene (Gordon) Baer.  She grew up in California and lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for most of her life before moving to Russell several years ago.  She worked for many years at the Russell Regional Hospital as a switchboard operator.  She was a longtime member of the Bible Baptist Church in Russell. 

 She is survived by her sons Jake Kossak of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Jeremy Kimmel of Russell, Kansas; sister Donna Donnell of Russell, Kansas; and eight grandchildren and her dog, Missy.

She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of life service will be held for Rebecca at a later date and cremation has been selected by the family.

John E. Connor, age 81, of Ellinwood, 
Kansas, died Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, 
Kansas. He was born July 18, 1939, in rural Barton County Kansas to 
Robert E. and Aurelia (Schugart) Connor.

He grew up in Hoisington, Kansas, and was a 1957 graduate of Hoisington High School.

After high school, he entered The 
Oratory in Rock Hill, South Carolina. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Air 
Force and was stationed in the United States, Germany and Turkey. He 
received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Emporia State 
University. He lived in the Kansas City area for a number of years, and
 was a Social Service Worker and counselor, working with the youth. He 
then moved back to the Great Bend, Kansas area and retired from the 
Larned State Hospital. The last four years, he has been a resident at 
the Woodhaven Nursing Home in Ellinwood, Kansas.

Survivors include two sisters, Loretta
 Ulrey, Logan, KS; Barbara Lehning and husband, Mike, Logan, KS; two 
brothers-in-law, Leonard Ehrlich, Great Bend, KS; Reuben Flagor, 
Hoisington, KS.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents; two brothers, Robert Connor and Jim Connor; three sisters, 
Margaret Ehrlich, Jean Flagor and Mary Lou Komarek.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions a 
private graveside service and inurnment will be held at St. John’s 
Cemetery in Hoisington, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Woodhaven Nursing Home in&nbsp;care of the mortuary.

Max Ellis Brewer, 93, passed in peace on Sept. 28, 2020 from natural 
causes at Benton House of Lenexa. A private Celebration of Life service 
will be held at 10:30 am Oct. 9, 2020 at De Soto United Methodist 
Church, 8760 Kill Creek Rd., De Soto, KS. Rev. Jeff Prothro of De Soto 
UMC will be officiating. The service will be live streamed on Facebook. 
The Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, OK at a 
later date.

Max’s story began and ended in his beloved Kansas.  Max was born in 
Grant County, KS in the home of his parents (Eual and Mary Brewer) and 
grandparents (George and Carrie Brewer) on November 22, 1926.   He 
attended Pleasant View country school/Grange Hall thru 8th grade and in 
1944 graduated from Moscow High School. City girl meets country boy was 
the beginning of Max and Roberta’s love story. Max married Roberta 
Theimer on May 29, 1949 in Oklahoma City; they were married 68 years 
until Roberta’s death in 2018. 


Max farmed, then from 1951 to 1992 worked for Farmers Co-op in Moscow 
and Johnson, KS.  Max was the embodiment of a gentleman; kind, 
honorable, courteous, humble, strong and true to his word.   He was a 
productive citizen and active member of the Methodist church in every 
community he resided -Moscow, Johnson, Colby and Hays (he moved to 
Benton House of Lenexa in 2018).  Max had the ability to fix anything, 
was a devoted husband and father, becoming a grandparent was a life 
changing joy and that joy continued with his great grandchildren.  He 
taught us to love God and country, to be kind and grateful and was 
adamant we always conserve water.  He led by example believing in 
equality, hard work and helping others, especially children.  


Max is preceded in death by his wife Roberta, brothers Ralph and Gary 
Brewer and great-granddaughter Aliah Marie Bailey. Those left to cherish
 Max’s memory are daughters Kathie (David) Burnett, Corinth, TX; Kristie
 (Rich) Cox, De Soto, KS.; grandchildren, Leslie (Tyson) Schmidt, 
Olathe; Lindsey (Mitch) Bailey, Shawnee; Matthew and Amy Burnett, 
Oklahoma City, OK.; great grandchildren, Rylee, Kaden and Madison 
Schmidt; Quinn, Keira and Elias Bailey.  Sister Eula Boylan, Newton, 
KS.; sister-in-law Ruby Brewer, Ulysses, KS.; nieces and nephews.

Ness County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on June 22, 1954,&nbsp; in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the daughter of Charles and Sandra (Abbott) 
Wold.

She was a Certified Nurse's Aide and had worked at Cedar Village 
Nursing Home. Tracy had also worked at the Derrick Inn for a number of 
years. She was an avid bowler and had been on bowling teams most of her 
life. Tracy was also an active member of the Frank Stull Post 152, 
American Legion Auxiliary. She married Timothy Frank in Ness City Kansas
 in 2003.

Tracy is survived by her husband, Tim Frank of Ness City, a brother, 
Ron Kreitman of Columbus, NE; two sisters, Teresa Esquibel of 
Albuquerque and Phyllis Ficher of Brighton, Colorado; three daughters 
and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in 
death by her parents, Charles Wold and Sandra Kreitman; daughter, Angela
 Pride and two brothers, Charles and Dennis Wold.

Vigil service will be on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Tracy Julianna Frank, 66, passed away on September 29, 2020, at the

Monabelle Aileen “Monie” Smith, 85, La Crosse, Kansas, died Monday, 
September 28, 2020, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.

Monabelle was born January 29, 1935, in La Crosse, Kansas, the 
daughter of Fred and Alice (Farmer) Keast.&nbsp; She was a 29 year resident 
of La Crosse, Kansas, moving from Colorado.&nbsp; A 1953 graduate of 
Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas, she was a tax accountant 
before her retirement.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, and an originating member 
of Walnut Valley Senior Center, both of Rush Center, Kansas.&nbsp; Monabelle 
volunteered for over 20 years at A Second Chance in La Crosse, Kansas.

On April 15, 1953, she married Richard Smith at the Methodist Church, Rush Center, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death in 1998.

Survivors include:&nbsp; two daughters, Cheryl Nicks (Dean), Nickerson, 
Kansas, and Norma Smith, Hector, Arkansas; four grandchildren; eight 
great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and one brother, 
Robert Keast, Vallejo, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Kenneth Keast.

Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present 
time, this is a private, immediate family only, funeral and interment, 
with no visitation.&nbsp;

Gladys Marie Moore, 95, Hays, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born January 25, 1925 in

August 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Millard Moore at St. 
Joseph Church, and they celebrated 74 years of marriage.&nbsp; Her 
memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Altar 
Society, the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Good Hope 4-H Club.&nbsp;
 Gladys was a wonderful homemaker and farmwife who did canning, made 
homemade candy, baked bread, and enjoyed baking.&nbsp; She made everything a 
celebration, was hardworking, a good listener, had a fun sense of humor,
 and enjoyed traveling.&nbsp; She was a talented seamstress, embroidered, and
 most of all, loved her life, husband, and family.

Survivors include her husband Millard, 
of the home in Hays, two sons; Orville Moore and wife Janel and Alan 
Moore and wife Lori, all of Hays, four daughters; Gwen Staab and husband
 Norman of Overland Park, Jeanette Weigel and husband Bob of WaKeeney, 
Shirley Bollig of Hays, and Joyce Moore and partner Jill Collins of 
Overland Park, a brother; Ernie Meier of Hays, four sisters; Louise 
Staab of Hays, Berdy Herrman of Great Bend, Rosie Schmidt of Hays, and 
Leota Legleiter of Great Bend, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren,

Gladys Marie Moore

Janice Kay (Vernon) Hayes, 77, of Atwood, was born in Oberlin, KS, July 
11, 1943, and passed away September 28, 2020, at Rawlins County Health 
Center, with her three children by her side. Janice was 3rd of six 
children born to Glenn &amp; Florence (Hoppess) Vernon and grew up on a 
family farm east of Oberlin, KS, near Norcatur.  Janice attended school 
in Decatur County and married Richard Hayes on August 13, 1960.  To this
 union three children were born, Machelle, Rocky and Melissa.  The 
couple lived in Decatur County until they moved to Atwood in 1974, after
 purchasing The Atwood Sale Barn.  Janice loved cooking and ran the sale
 barn café for several years. 

 She will be remembered for her pies and 
cinnamon rolls made from scratch and her famous hot beef sandwiches.  
You never left her house without eating, whether you were hungry or not.
  Janice and Rich ran different cooking establishments together after 
selling the sale barn and served many citizens in Rawlins County their 
amazing food. Janice also enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, 
children and families along with friends later in life.  Her grandkids 
and great grandkids were her pride and joy along with her little dog 
Molly, who she missed desperately after her husband passed away and she 
moved to the nursing home in Atwood.


Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Hayes; 
two sisters, Barbara Kirkpatrick and Rhonda Hill; three brothers, 
Charles &amp; wife Millie Vernon, Voyle (Butch) Vernon, and Kevin 
Vernon; two nephews, Jimmy &amp; Terry Jones and two nieces, Julie

 Janice is survived by her three children and spouses, Machelle &amp;

Janice Kay (Vernon) Hayes

This is not an obituary but a story of my husband, my daddy, papa.

	Lauren “Chic” Paul Becker was born May 7, 1943 in Logan, Kansas to 
Leo Nicholas and Marguerite (Kelling) Becker. He fell asleep in death 
September 25, 2020. Chic had two older brothers known as “Top” Daryl 
Becker and “Tug” Myron Becker. A half-sister “Tink” Joy Cooper 
Swearingen. His twin sister Laurel Ann Becker died at the age of nine 
months. Chic was raised by his grandmother Lydia Kelling who spoiled him
 rotten. At just 12 years of age he went to work at the local market as a
 meat cutter until around the age of 15. He then went to help his Uncle 
Gene Noel on the farm until he graduated from Logan High School in 1962.
 His senior memory that plagued him was missing the game winning free 
throw at the State Basketball Championship his senior year. His 
grandchildren even knew that story.


	After graduation, he attended Kansas State University. Coming home 
one weekend to attend the dance at the Stockton county fair, he took 
notice of the cute Sherry Jo Cooper. He dumped his date and ran after 
Sherry Jo. They went to high school together, he even initiated her in 
her freshman year but didn’t truly notice her until he watched her do 
the Twist. He started to get nervous about this Cooper girl and got cold
 feet and ran away to join the Army. He served two years as a 
Topographical Surveyor in Japan, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands. He sent 
many letters to Sherry Jo and she to him. He quickly figured out what a 
terrible mistake he made by leaving her. He finished his duty and came 
home to marry his love May 14, 1966 in Logan, Kansas. 


	Chic and Sherry thereafter moved to Manhattan where he returned to 
Kansas State to earn his degree in Interior Design. To this day he was 
always designing, drawing or sketching his little projects out.


	They moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked as an interior 
designer at Homestead House. On April 15, 1969, Angela Marie came into 
their lives. Eight months later, on December 23, 1969 Darci Jo comes 
along. (You do the calculations.) We often joke to others that mama had 
two wombs. In April of 1972 Chic became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The 
truths he learned from the Bible shaped his life, their family and their
 friendships. 


	When the girls were 2 years old they decided to move back to Hill 
City to be closer to family, where they lived out on Bow Creek. He then 
went to work for Sherry Jo’s dad Chet, with Cooper’s Dirt Construction 
as a backhoe operator. This was the one job he truly loved. 


	On July 5, 1975 (Doomsday) daughter number three comes along, Dusti
 Renee’. Due to the oil crash in the 80’s, Cooper’s Dirt Construction 
was forced to shut down causing Chic to search for a new occupation. He 
became a hearing specialist and after much blood, sweat and tears he 
built from the ground up his own Precision Hearing business. He had 
offices in Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. He would spend hours designing
 ads for the newspapers and mail outs. He was well respected and loved 
by his patients. He gave it his all. In 2015, due to his failing health,
 he had to sell Precision Hearing. The last few years have been a 
struggle both financially and physically. But through it all, he 
maintained his positivity and even though he couldn’t do the things he 
loved such as golfing or working in the yard, he took great comfort in 
the scriptures. Especially 2 Corinthians 4:16, “We do not give up, but 
even if the man we are outside is wasting away, certainly the man we are
 inside is being renewed day to day.”


	He cherished his wife Sherry Jo, loved his children and adored his 
grandchildren with all his being. Most especially, he loved his heavenly
 father Jehovah. He often talked about God’s Kingdom as mentioned at 
Matthew 6:9,10 and the blessings it will bring to mankind on earth. One 
of those blessings or promises he was assured of was a resurrection of 
the dead to a paradise earth, in which God originally purposed for 
mankind at Acts 24:15 and John 5:28,29. Chic loved people and loved to 
help them in any way he could. Someone recently stated that “he was so 
generous he gave everyone a slice of his pie.” Which if you knew him 
well, you knew this to be true. 


	We look forward to the time we can welcome him back and hold him again – my husband, my daddy, my papa.


	Chic is survived by his wife Sherry Jo. His three daughters and 
their spouses: Angela Marie Miller and Phillip Duane Miller, Darci Jo 
Wyatt, , Dusti Renee’ Bagley and Jeff Bagley; their eight grandchildren 
and their spouses: Madison Denae Wyatt Nelson and Tyler Nelson, Keaton 
Devon Wyatt, Maria Johnson Wyatt, Kaiden Dean Wyatt, Dallas James 
Miller, Shyann Marie Miller, Aspen Rose Bagley, Lauryn Avery Bagley, and
 Cooper Thomas Bagley. And many spiritual brothers and sisters too many

Lauren 'Chic' Paul Becker

Elsie (Weaver) Wells Stephens was born January 18th, 1925 in Paola, 
Kansas to David Everette Weaver and Emma Elizabeth (Mast) Weaver.  She 
passed away on September 29, 2020 at the Lane Co. Hospital in  Dighton 
KS. 

 Elsie attended kindergarten through high school in Paola, KS 
graduating with the class of 1943.  After graduation, she worked for 
superintendent of schools, W.L. Rambo in Paola for five years.  She and 
Winfred J. Wells were married on September 27th, 1947 at the Baptist 
church in Paola.  They lived in Norton for two years where Win trained 
with the Soil Conservation Service, moving to Dighton in 1950.  Win 
retired from the SCS in 1977.  He passed away Feb. 1, 1985.  Three 
children were born to this union:  Stephen Wynn (Judy), Cynthia Luanne 
(Sara) and Jeffry Lynn (Kelle.)  The Wells grandchildren are Moss, 
Oakley, Hunter, Jeremy, Bailey and Makenze.  Great grandchildren are 
Emma, Brenna and Shelby Wells, and Lorelei Everett.


On March 17th, 1990, Elsie married Gerald Stephens at the First 
Christian Church in Dighton.  She moved with Gerald to Los Gatos, 
California and lived there for 17 years until Gerald’s death April 27th,
 2007.  Elsie returned to Dighton leaving the family and friends she had
 known and loved for 17 years.  Gerald’s family had become her family.  
Son, Mark Stephens (Judi), daughter Dana Rowell (Ken) and grandchildren 
Nathan Primrose (Megan), Madison Rowell and great grandchildren, 
Benjamin and Riley Primrose.


Elsie was a member of the First Christian Church in Dighton.  She was a 
Sunday school teacher, choir member, and active in the Christian Women’s
 Fellowship.  She was secretary for three county agents, Kenneth Fromm, 
Les Frazier and Al Honeyman.  Serving lunch at Lincoln Primary for 15 
years with Doreen Bray were Elsie’s favorite years of employment.  She 
always valued the friendships made through those years.  Elsie was past 
President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 190, past President of 
the VFW Auxiliary, former member of the As You Like It Club, previous 
leader of 4-H and girl scouts, cub scout den mother, and the last of 12 
friends who belonged to the Sewing Club. One thing that Elsie valued 
deeply was being in relationship with others.  She wrote thousands of 
letters to family and friends, a lost art in today’s world.  


Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters:  Juanita, 
Eva, Lucille, Leah and Helen and great great granddaughter Rosalynd 
Anne.  Her nieces and nephews and their families were always special to 
her.  


Elsie was always so grateful for the love of family and Friends. 


Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM Friday at First Christian Church in 
Dighton with Pastor Steve Payne officiating.  Graveside Service will be 
at 11:00 AM Saturday at Louisburg Cemetery in Louisburg with Pastor 
Roger Hatfield officiating.  Memorials are suggested to First Christian 
Church or Lane County Hospital in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.

Elsie (Weaver) Wells Stephens

Robert “Bob” James Holt, 59, passed away peacefully in his home on 
March 16, 2020, surrounded by those he loved most dearly. He was born to
 John (Jack) &amp; Charlette Holt on October 6th, 1960, in Kansas City, 
MO and grew up in Great Bend, KS. In 1973 he met the love of his life, 
Tammy (Spray) Holt, who moved in across the street. On January 8th, 
1983, in Great Bend, Bob and Tammy got married after a decade of 
friendship.

Bob was a 1979 graduate of Great Bend High School and earned his B.S.
 in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1983, where
 he was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. After college, Bob 
&amp; Tammy moved to Omaha, NE where he took a job as an estimator for 
AC&amp;S Construction.

In 1985 he was offered a job at Venture Corporation, and the young 
couple were excited to move back to their hometown of Great Bend. During
 his 30 years at Venture he was active on several committees with the 
Kansas Contractors Association. Bob served as Venture Corporation’s 
Secretary &amp; Estimator until his retirement in May of 2015. His 
involvement included; Action Auction (Chairman, 1998-2006), Public 
Relations (1998), Kansas Good Roads (Director), Convention Committee 
(1999-2015), Legislative Committee (2001-2015), Education Foundation 
(2008-2015), Summer Fest (Chairman, 2010-2013) and Flexible Paving 
Division (Chairman, 2012). Outside of his work involvement, he was a 
member of; CKMC Board of Directors, Past President and member of St. 
Patrick’s School Board, Prince of Peace Parish, having served on the 
Property Commission, and Board of Directors of Lakota HOA (Winter Park, 
CO).

His passions in life were his faith, family, friends, golf, KU 
basketball, and Polaris off-roading throughout the Rocky Mountains and 
Moab. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he refused to lose his 
passion for life. Through his fight, he acted as a living example of how
 important our brief time is on this earth. He continued to establish 
and build relationships, leaving lasting impressions on those whose 
paths’ he crossed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, and their three sons: 
Brett (Leslie) Holt &amp; his granddaughter Landreigh, Brad (Jordan) 
Holt, and Allan Holt. Also, his mother, Charlette Holt and 4 siblings: 
John (Suzy) Holt, Beth (Paul) Jantsch, Tom (Mindy) Holt, and Mary (Vic) 
Adamle. As well has his mother-in-law, Doris Spray, and two 
brothers-in-law, Kip (Kelly) Spray and Chris (Julie) Spray. Bob was also
 an amazing uncle to his 16 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death 
by his father, John (Jack) Holt, his father-in-law, Orville (Butch) 
Spray.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at 
St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore 
presiding.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North.&nbsp; A 
Rosary will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Bryant Funeral 
Home. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Fund at Golden Belt

Robert 'Bob' James Holt

Lidwina "Lydia" Denning was the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Wasinger) Richmeier. She was born April 26, 1921, in St. Peter, Kansas, and passed away peacefully at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on September 29, 2020, at the age of 99.

Lydia attended the St. Peter Grade School.  On June 17, 1941, she married George Denning in St. Peter.  They made their home in Wakeeney and Logan, Kansas, before moving to Norton in 1968.  Lydia was a homemaker where she and George enjoyed raising their family of four children.  Lydia was also proud of her accomplishment in obtaining her GED.  Her loving husband, George, passed away July 20, 2007.  Lydia continued to live in their home before moving to the Bieber apartments and later moved into the Andbe Home.

Lydia was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and in the ladies auxiliary.  She also was a gifted quilter.

Survivors include:  four children, JoAnn Durbin, Hazel Park, Michigan; Francis (Sherry) Denning, Salina, Kansas; Steve Denning, Red Hill, New Mexico; and Cindy (Steve) Shinners, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Richmeier, Denver, Colorado; Gerald Richmeier, Grand Junction, Colorado; Ronald Richmeier, Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Armella Ashworth, Kansas City, Kansas; and Frances Nimz, Wakeeney, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

Joseph F. “Joe” Zollinger, age 77, of Hays, Kansas died Monday, September 28, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born January 5, 1943, in Laverne, Oklahoma, to Claude and Mildred (Mitchell) Zollinger. He married Euleta (Grice) on May 18, 1962, at Arnett, Oklahoma.&nbsp;

Joe taught high school Speech/Drama/Debate for 18 years at Stanton County High School in Johnson, Kansas. He entertained students by “keeping an eye” on them and with his many stories and jokes. He grew up in Laverne, and was a 1961 graduate of Laverne High School.&nbsp; He received his Master’s Degree in Education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma.&nbsp; He lived in Oklahoma, Colorado and Kansas and moved to Hays from Coldwater in 2004.&nbsp; He enjoyed reading and collecting treasures from garage sales and auctions.&nbsp; He loved his family and spending time with them. &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Euleta Zollinger, of the home; one son, Bryan Zollinger, Hays, KS; one daughter, Amy Wasinger and husband, Todd, Antonino, Ks; three granddaughters, Kylee Childs (Jeff), Marisa Wasinger, Niyah Zollinger; one great granddaughter, Kezlee Pfannenstiel; three brothers, Veldon Zollinger &amp; Wilda, Crescent, OK; Junior Zollinger and Donna, Woodward, OK; Rocky Zollinger, Crescent, OK; one sister, Shirley Grunewald, Crescent, OK; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Zollinger, Laverne, OK.

Phillipsburg resident Dale L. Henry passed away Monday, September 
28, 2020, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 
82.

Dale was born February 4, 1938, in Greensburg, Indiana the son of Walter J. and Eva (Shoopman) Henry.&nbsp; He was an US Army veteran.

Survivors include his four girls, Peggy Littrell and husband Gary, 
Vicky Lind and husband Steve, Jeannette Patterson all of Phillipsburg 
and Nancy Muck and husband Terry of Gaylord; 8 grandchildren; 17 great 
grandchildren; and two brothers, Jessie Henry and wife Kay of 
Zephyrhills, Fl and Alvin Henry and wife Virginia of Sealy, Tx.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 in
 the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.&nbsp; Services will be 
streamed live on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Funeral-Service---Cemetery/Olliff-Boeve-Memorial-Chapel-158648587502325/">Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook Page</a>.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Lavonne Arlyss Baker, daughter of John and Anna (Miller) Ehm was born February 15, 1930, on a farm north of Gretna in Phillips County, Kansas.&nbsp; She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the age of 90.

She married Wayne Baker, June 6, 1948, at Calvary Baptist Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 2011, and a son, Rodney in 2001.

She is survived by her children Roger Baker, Terri Baker, and Deb Robinson all of Phillipsburg, and Sherri Baker of Agra; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister Melba Bentz of Foley, AL; brother Arlen Ehm of Phillipsburg.

At Lavonne's request, there will a private family graveside service at the Pleasant View Cemetery near Gretna, KS in Phillips County, KS.

Lavonne Arlyss Baker

Doris Josephine Winslow, age 73, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Antonino, Kansas, to Reinhold and Josephine (Kuhn) Herrman. She married David Winslow on September 26, 1998. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2009.

Love. If one had to boil Doris’s life down to one word, it’s love.&nbsp; She loved her boys.&nbsp; So much.&nbsp; She loved to see them succeed.&nbsp; She loved to see them try and struggle and eventually conquer new things.&nbsp; She loved to see her boys love and support each other.&nbsp; She loved her parents and siblings and nieces and nephews.&nbsp; When she was younger, she loved going to work every day.&nbsp; She was the type to teach by example, and no matter the lesson or task or thing, love was always the underlying element.

Doris had epic battles with mental illness for much of her life.&nbsp; Through courage and her love of her family, her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren, she found the strength to endure and overcome those hurdles.

Doris loved three husbands in her life.&nbsp; Jim and she had three sons: Dan, Rick, and Scott.&nbsp; Marrying Tom gave Doris the opportunity to share her love with stepsons Brad and Curt.&nbsp; Then marrying David gave one more stepson Chris.&nbsp; Doris loved all of her sons and stepsons equally and completely.&nbsp; She always strived to teach them life lessons and most of all, to forgive and to love. &nbsp;

Watching her boys play sports in school brought great joy to Doris, and that joy stayed throughout her life watching the boys cheer on their favorite sports teams.&nbsp; The Royals were on TV at Doris’ house a great many nights!

Doris’s favorite activity was to have friends and family over for dinner.&nbsp; She was an excellent cook and hosted countless parties filled with family, laughter, and double-deck-pinochle in the house at 1300 Eisenhower.&nbsp; The house was big enough for family to stay overnight in the spare bedroom, kids to play endless games of ping-pong downstairs, and just enough space outside to cook on the grill.&nbsp; Those were the best of times for Doris.&nbsp; She adored taking the boys camping at Wilson Lake.&nbsp; Doris greatly enjoyed listening to David play his guitar and recite the poetry he wrote.&nbsp; Doris could not get enough time on the phone with her boys, and it was impossible for her to ever say no to her grandchildren.

There is a rumor that no one has ever witnessed her boys arguing or fighting.&nbsp; Ever.&nbsp; And that’s a testament to the abundance of love Doris taught and felt for those close to her.&nbsp; Her love will endure, but she will be missed.

She is survived by three sons, Dan Kohl and wife Tina of Schoenchen, Kansas, Rick Kohl and wife Kelly of Moundridge, Kansas and Scott Kohl of St. George, Kansas; two brothers, Les Herrman of Hays and Leon Herrman of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Carol Danielson of Great Bend and Linda Mayberry of Great Bend. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Russ, Faith, Trevor and Collin Kohl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Cyril, Frank, Roy, Donny and J.R. Herrman and a sister, Edna Rohr.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Antonino, Kansas.

Visitation will be Wednesday 6 PM - 8 PM with a combined rosary and vigil at 7 PM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Thursday visitation will be 9 AM - 9:30 AM at the funeral chapel.

Doris J. Winslow

Phyllis Ann Rueschhoff, 79, Hays, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born January 16, 1941 on the 
family farm northeast of Grinnell, the oldest of seven children of 
Stephen and Betty (Halbleib) Broeckelman.&nbsp; In 1959 she graduated from 
Grinnell High School, and then attended one year of college at Marymount
 College in Salina.&nbsp; On July 9, 1960, Phyllis was united in marriage to 
Day Rueschhoff and to their union they had five children; Stephanie, 
Melanie, Deb, Darren, and Dayna.&nbsp; They were married 35 years before he 
preceded her in death on May 18, 1996.&nbsp; &nbsp;Phyllis was a full-time 
homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning.&nbsp; Later, she taught piano 
lessons as well as worked as a florist and seamstress.&nbsp; While living in 
Angelus she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul Altar 
Society, Daughters of Isabella.&nbsp; After moving to Hays in 2001, she 
became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son; Darren 
Rueschhoff (Angel) of Hays, her four daughters; Stephanie Matteson 
(Brad) of Inkster, ND, Melanie Moeder of Hays, Deb Bickford of Olathe, 
and Dayna Krannawitter (Brian) of Lincoln, NE, 12 grandchildren; Ashley 
Renfrow (Dakota), Andy Moeder (Whitney), Trey Moeder (Alyssa), Skylin 
Day (Dustin), Keyston Moeder, Lauren Bickford (fiancé Frank Fuentes), 
Connor Bickford, Tyler Rueschhoff, Jace Rueschhoff, Abby Rueschhoff, 
Taryn Rueschhoff, and Cole Krannawitter, nine great grandchildren; 
Dayson, Ryalin, Mayci, Brooke, Lydia, Gage, Kinslee, Kori, and Karsyn, a
 brother; Lee Broeckelman (Barb) of Grinnell, three sisters; Joan 
Ostmeyer (Rick) of Hays, Lois Stafford (Don) of Hays, and Barb Dayvault 
of Sacramento, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, her husband Day, a grandson; Jerad Bickford, and two sisters; 
Edith Broeckelman and Judy Brull.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:30 am on Friday, October 2, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church in 
Angelus, with Fr. Luke Thielen officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St. 
Paul Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday 
at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hays and from 9:30 am until 
10:30 on Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Angelus.&nbsp; A vigil service
 and rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Phyllis A. Rueschhoff

Vernon L. Windholz, age 85, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. He was born October 20, 1934, in Ellis to Rudolph and Catherine (Beer) Windholz. He was a graduate of Ellis High School. He married Bernice Poto, who preceded him in death.

Vernon was a cook most of his working life primarily at the Golden Ox for over twenty years. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Korea. Vernon was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Ellis VFW.

He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Windholz of Ellis; three sisters,Kathy Wolf of Ellis, Roseann Billinger of Hays and Goldie Dinkel of Ellis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
