Mary H. Waugh

Mary H. Waugh, 89, died on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on June 29, 1931 at Dighton the daughter of Harry Oscar & Lulu May (Morgan) Glenn. She married Vernon Robert “Bob” Waugh on May 13, 1951 at Dighton. He died on November 19, 1984.

Mary graduated from Dighton High School in 1949 and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 1983 and her Master’s Degree in Fine Arts in 1985 from Fort Hays State University. She was an extremely talented artist and an avid reader and particularly enjoyed murder mysteries. She was an incredibly strong woman who was fiercely devoted to her family. She was a longtime dispatcher for the Lane County Sheriff Department. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Dighton and was active in the Arts Council and Lane County Historical Society.

She is survived by 7 Children- Vernon Robert “Bob” Waugh, Jr. of Russell, Sally Ann Waugh of Dighton, Jack Lee Waugh of Salina, Brian Lee Waugh, Sr. of Garden City, Veronica Rae Kennon of Chandler, Texas, Christina Marie (Mike) Kerls of Topeka and Amanda Rene (J.R.) Darcy of Spearville, 12 Grandchildren- Jerry Lee, Alexander Henry, Brian Lee, Jr., William Christopher, Hunter Paul, Trisha Ann, Brady Kincaid, Evan James, Harley Marie, Noah Ryan, Adler Madeline and Harrison Glenn and 3 Great-Grandchildren- Emma-Lee Athena, Avery James and Paislee Grace.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Daughter- Mary Louise Waugh, Brother- Oscar Glenn and Sister- Thelma Irene O’Neal.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Christian Church in Dighton with Pastor Steve Payne Officiating. The service can be viewed on the Garnand Funeral Home facebook page.
