Evelyn Margaret (Echols) Davis

Evelyn Margaret (Echols) Davis, 97, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Evelyn was born September 28, 1923, in Frisco, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of John and Florence (Bedwell) Echols.  She grew up on a farm near Frisco, and attended country schools in the Stonewall and Ada, Oklahoma area.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Lloyd Davis on January 12, 1940, in Coalgate, Oklahoma.  This union was blessed with three children; Ruth Ann, Ron and Jim.  Lloyd worked for Halliburton and the family moved around following his work.  They lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1941 to 1943 when they moved to Chase, Kansas.  They also lived in Lyons, Pratt, Hays, and in 1967 moved to Russell to start Allied Cement.  Lloyd preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Russell.  She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling with Lloyd.  Her main focus in life was her family and taking care of her family.

Evelyn’s surviving family includes her daughter, Ruth Ann Hutson (Art) of Meridian, Idaho; two sons, Ronald Davis (Marilyn) of Russell, Kansas and Jim Davis (Lois) of Olathe, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church.  A Private Family Service will take place later Friday.  A Memorial has been established with Bible Baptist Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
