Loren Henry Dyke, 87, passed away November 2, 2020, at Hutchinson 
Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. He was born October 30, 1933, 
in Malvern, Iowa, to Dale D. &amp; Maxine (Boyer) Dyke. He married 
Marilyn Patricia Mueller May 27, 1956 at First United Methodist Church 
in Griswold, Iowa. She survives.

Loren was an active child and loved exploring the woods, fields, and 
streams that were all around the small farming community where he grew 
up. He suffered several life-threatening injuries and sicknesses in his 
youth, including a long siege with rheumatic fever, and possibly polio. 
At age six, he tripped right by the Methodist church and jammed the 
point of a wooden sword into his throat. Unbeknown to his parents, the 
tip had broken off inside the throat. Two weeks later, doctors in a 
Council Bluffs hospital removed that bloody piece of wood.

Along with his family, Loren was active in that same Methodist church
 during his early years. He enjoyed all sports and engaged vigorously in
 all of them. In conjunction with the WWII jobs program, his dad moved 
the family to Los Angeles in 1943 to work in the Howard Hughes shipyard 
and was assigned to work on the famous Spruce Goose. The family’s 
temporary housing was in a trailer park right across the street from MGM
 studios where Loren became acquainted and often played with members of 
the Our Gang, sometimes called The Little Rascals, including Froggie and
 Alfalfa. With Froggie and other boys, he climbed a high fence to sneak 
into those studios to watch the making of films.

The family returned to Iowa after the war and in 1947, Loren 
accompanied a Baptist preacher and his sons to Minneapolis to attend a 
Youth for Christ meeting in which a young evangelist named Billy Graham 
was the featured speaker. On one evening during that conference, Loren 
walked a long-tabernacle aisle to the front and committed his life to 
Jesus Christ.

Loren graduated from Chariton, Iowa High School in 1951 and enrolled 
in Peru State Teachers’ College in1952, and in l953, while the Korean 
War was on, was inducted into the Army. The war ended, and Loren spent 
most of his service time in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. While there, he had a
 life-changing encounter with Jesus while serving as a Chaplain’s 
Assistant at the base chapel.

Following discharge, back in Iowa, he accepted a role as counselor at
 a Methodist youth camp at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. It was 
there he met Marilyn Mueller of Griswold, Iowa. They both loved music, 
worked together in the camp’s music program, and became best friends. 
They were married on May 27, 1956, and became the parents of three 
children, Lorene, Daniel, and Jerry.

Loren taught school in southwest Iowa for five years, and during that
 time, the most spiritually transforming event of his and Marilyn’s 
lives occurred when the two of them attended a Christian Ashram in 
Salina, Kansas, a retreat movement founded by Dr. E. Stanley Jones. For 
Loren, a new intimacy with Jesus began. In 1962 he accepted a position 
as youth director at a Methodist church in Great Bend, Kansas, and in 
1963, he became director of the Kansas Ashram.

In 1964, Loren began a full-time faithbased, evangelistic ministry, 
largely connected with the Ashram movement, and for eight years, on 
several occasions had opportunity to work closely with Stanley Jones. 
Loren spoke at many retreats and meetings across the US, mostly around 
the eastern part of the country and during that time, established an 
organization named The King’s Team focused on revival in America and 
have been praying for revival in the US since June 1,1970.

Just before 1980, Loren and Marilyn became active in the Republican 
Party and in 1980, Loren became Barton county chairman for Ronald Reagan
 and was elected as an alternate delegate to the Republican National 
Convention in Detroit. As Loren and Marilyn became more involved with 
politics, the Lord gave them many opportunities to witness for Him and 
engage with numerous persons involved in governmental leadership at the 
state and national levels. At one point, they were able to meet Ronald 
Reagan and Loren was able to hold hands with Nancy Reagan and have a 
brief prayer with her.

Loren and Marilyn were scheduled to sing at the Kansas Day Banquet in
 Topeka in January of 1989, but on the way there, Loren had a heart 
attack which prevented their doing that. But in 1994, the couple had 
another opportunity to sing America the Beautiful at that same banquet 
of one-thousand persons, including governors, U.S. senators and 
legislators, all to the honor and glory of their dear Lord and Savior 
Jesus, and received a standing ovation. Later, while speaking with 
Senator Nancy Kassebaum in her Washington office, she told them that she
 was the first one on her feet following that song.

More than all of the things that Loren has been able to do throughout
 his life, the most important thing to him in all the world is his 
personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to tell everyone he
 meets about Jesus. In the end, his desire is that everyone who reads 
this obituary or hears about his life over the coming years is that they
 know Jesus (John 3:16).

Survivors include, his wife, Marilyn Dyke of the home; two sons, 
Daniel “Danny” L. Dyke of Boston, MA, and Jerry S. Dyke and wife Kathy 
of Pflugerville, TX; a daughter, Lorene “Lore” Meltzer and husband Paul 
of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Gayle Dyke; a brother-in-law, 
Elden Bickley; three grandchildren, Daniel Meyer and wife Rachel, 
Stephanie Meyer, and Jeffrey Dyke and wife Alyssa; and four great 
grandchildren, Isaiah Meyer, Luke Meyer, Selah Dyke, and Asher Dyke. He 
was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Dyke; and a 
sister, Theresa Bickley.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, 
November 5, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends
 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., 
Friday, November 6, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in 
Golden Belt Memorial Park. Memorials have been designated to the King’s 
Team, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Loren Henry Dyke

Lucille I. Stevenson, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2020, at Wedgewood South Assisted Living in Lubbock, Texas.  She was born on March 30, 1928, in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Paul Frederick and Esther Gladys Bjork Moser.  

Lucille graduated from Greeley County High School in 1946 and was a resident of Tribune, Kansas, until 1950 when she married Bobbie Ray Stevenson in Raton, New Mexico in 1950.  Soon after their marriage, they moved to Texas.  They resided and raised their family in Seagraves, Texas.  

Lucille worked for the Farm Service Agency for over 40 years starting at a young age in Kansas.  She worked the majority of her career serving the Farmers and Ranchers in Gaines County then became the office manager in Andrews County the last ten years of her service. During her employment she was and active member of Texas Association of County Office employees (TASCOE), the National Association of County Office Employees (NASCOE) and served as a director off and on for years. Following her retirement, they moved to San Angelo, Texas.   

Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi R Bowling of Midland Texas, Belinda R Davis of Lubbock Texas, one brother Marvin Moser of Tribune, Kansas, one sister Catherine Hamaker of Gage, Oklahoma, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Stevenson, son Brake R Stevenson, one sister Vera Woods and one brother Robert Moser.  

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with Jeri Farmer-Smith presiding.

Memorials in Lieu of Flowers may be written to the First Presbyterian Church or Greeley County EMT’s both of Tribune, Kansas in care of Price &amp; Sons Funeral Homes.

Burial will be in the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.

Elmer Joseph Younger, age 96, of Hays, Kansas, passed away, Saturday, October 31, 2020, in Hays. He was born March 11, 1924, in rural Ellis County, Kansas to Alois and Matilda (Hertel) Younger. On February 6, 1951, he married Lucille (Augustine). She preceded him in death on March 16, 1983. Elmer was a lifelong Farmer. He also was a furniture builder and did scroll saw work. He enjoyed family time with his daughter and grandchildren. He also enjoyed music and had played guitar in Angie’s Polka Band. He is survived by his daughter, Donna McDaniel and husband Richard of Memphis, Missouri; his grandson, Jeremy McDaniel and wife Cynthia of Memphis, Missouri as well as three great grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob and Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Younger; a brother, Marvin Younger and three sisters, Mildred Windholz, Albina Stecklein and Martina Kreutzer. Elmer Joseph Younger

Charles Edwin “Bud” Mumm, 89, of Atwood, died Sunday, November 1, 2020, 
at his home. He was born October 21, 1931, at the family farm near 
Selden, KS, to Gottfried and Sarah (McDonald) Mumm. 

Bud served in the 
United States Army, stationed in Heilbronn, Germany from 1954-55 and was
 a longtime member of the Herndon VFW. On October 20, 1979 he married 
Victoria “Vicky” Marintzer and they enjoyed 41 years together. He farmed
 and ranched with his four brothers on the homeplace near Selden and on a
 creek farm near Achilles, where he lived for 62 years. In his 
spare time, Bud enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends. He
 was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Herndon and a member of 
the Knights of Columbus. 
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Joseph Michael 
Mumm; brothers, Gottfried Bernard, Paul, Frederick “Fritz” and Hubert 
Mumm; sisters, Juliann Mumm, Anogene Rogers, Josephine Douglass, Eleanor
 Rogers, Alberta Ritter and Clara (Dick) Newton; nieces Alicia Hull and 
Mary Jane Smith. 
He is survived by his wife Vicky Mumm, of Atwood; children, Greg Mumm, 
of Ludell, Anita Mumm, of Salida, CO; siblings, Margaret “Marge” Roy, 
Dolores Raile, Clement (Patricia) Mumm, Joan “Judy” (Gordon) Smith and 
Kenneth Mumm and many nieces and nephews. 
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020, at St. Mary’s 
Assumption Catholic Church, in Herndon, KS, with visitation taking place
 from 9-10:00 a.m. and rosary at 10:00. Burial will take place in the 
church cemetery.

Charles Edwin 'Bud' Mumm

Mark Alan Reiser, 50, passed away June 12, 2020, at his home in 
Independence, Mo. He was born March 28, 1970, at Great Bend, to Larry A.
 and Sue A. (Hamill) Reiser.

Mark, a resident of Independence, Mo., grew up in Great Bend before 
moving to Edmond, Okla., in 1987. He was a 1988 graduate of Edmond 
Memorial High School, Edmond, Okla., where he excelled in varsity 
Baseball. Mark, a previous terminal manager for Groendyke Transport, 
Inc. in St. Louis, was currently a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic 
Church, Independence, and Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include his mother, Sue A. Reiser; sister, Jennifer Reiser 
and partner Amy Fowler, Kansas City, Mo.; and one nephew and Godson, 
Ashton Reiser. He was preceded in passing by his father, Larry.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 7, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.

Darla Rene Scheer, 59, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Kearny 
County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. She was born October 2, 1961 in Dodge
 City, Kansas the daughter of Richard &amp; Jane (Tieben) Green. 
 Born in Dodge City, Kansas, Darla moved with her family to Garden 
City when she was in the 3rd grade. She attended Garden City schools 
and graduated from Garden City High School in 1980. Darla worked for 
many years as a bookkeeper at Mid-America Millwright Services. She 
enjoyed spending her time with her family and playing games and cards. 
 On November 30, 1985 she married Robert R. Scheer in Garden City, 
Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include two children Lyndsay 
&amp; husband Josh Plankenhorn of Garden City and Derek &amp; wife 
Kinlee Scheer of Lakin, Kansas; her mother Jane Nelson of Garden City, 
Kansas; her father Richard Green of Garden City, Kansas; three brothers

Darla Rene Scheer

Wesley John Turner of Quinter departed this world to be with his Lord &amp; Savior on October 16, 2020, at the age of 83, due to complications of Covid-19 after a short stay at the Gove County LTC.

Wes was born July 30, 1937 on a farm in rural Quinter, KS to Lee Marlin and Della Kathryn (Long) Turner. He attended Bloomfield Country School through 8th grade, graduated from Quinter High School in 1955, and went on to attend Fort Hays State University for two years before moving back to Quinter with his wife and children to raise his family.

He married his high school sweetheart Loretta Phlieger, also of Quinter, on September 24, 1955 at St. Michael’s Church in Collyer, KS. They celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage in September.&nbsp; Wes and Loretta owned and operated Turner’s Locker at 4th and Main for over 20 years, from the early 1960's to the late 1980’s. Wes was also a volunteer fireman and one of the eight original founders of the Quinter Ambulance Service in 1973.

Wes and Loretta joined Amway in 1977. They travelled extensively around the country as they built their new business and made many new friends along the way. In May 2001 they travelled to Odessa, Ukraine to visit the Black Sea villages of Loretta’s German ancestors, as well as touring through parts of Germany, France, Austria, and Italy.

Wes loved flying and earned his pilot’s license in the 1960’s. He enjoyed taking his children on short trips and flew occasionally to Arizona to visit friends and family. His outgoing, gregarious nature made him a popular visitor as he traveled throughout Western Kansas as an independent operator of the “Sausage Man” business.

Wes loved his family selflessly. He never met a stranger. He loved gardening, tinkering in his shop, and most of all music. As a child he grew up in a musical family in a time before television when church, hard work, visiting neighbors and music were the core of family life. He played numerous instruments, notably banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and guitar. All of his children were in the QHS band.

He is survived by his wife Loretta and seven children: Terry of Parker, CO, Kristy Gerhardt and husband Randy of Salina, KS, Karla Murray and husband Rick of Goodland, KS, Wayne of Tampa, FL, Tom of Aurora, CO, Steve and Rinnie of San Francisco, CA,&nbsp; Levi and wife Debra from Iola, TX; 5 grandchildren: Cassie Murray, Hailey Murray, Meghan Turner, Michael Turner, and Brogan Turner; and six great-grandchildren: Jayden, Brinley, Presley, Emberley, Ryker, and Brylee Jo. He is also survived by brother Max and wife Gladys of Burlington, KS; sister Louise Hisey of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. He was preceded in death by parents Lee and Della, sister Twila Yowell, and brother Roland.

His nephew Ray had this to say: “Wes’ laugh was infectious. His enthusiasm for music was endearing. His humility was his strength. His love for his family was evident. Wes was a good man.”

At this time, a private family service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Collyer, KS. with Fr. Charlie Steier as Celebrant. Graveside services are open to all and will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery at 11:30 am, Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Wesley John Turner

Eva Loree Holaday passed away at the age of 94 at the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care in Quinter, Kansas. She was born on September 28, 1926, on the farm in Sheridan County just north of the Saline River. She was the oldest child of George Earl and Mary (Hargitt) Maxwell. At the age of 5, she moved with her family to Weskan, Ransom then to Wallace, Kansas, and in 1935 they moved to the Maxwell home place north of Quinter.&nbsp;

She attended 1st grade in Weskan, 2nd and 3rd grade at Deines Rural School. She graduated from Quinter High School and Fort Hays State University.&nbsp;Loree was an elementary teacher for 13 years. She loved and was a friend of children all her life.&nbsp;

She married Raymond Holaday on August 13, 1959, and was a loving farmer’s wife and mother of Richard Holaday (Nyla), Oakley, James Holaday, Grinnell, Raymond Holaday (significant other Becky Butts), Grinnell, and Thomas Holaday (Patty), Garfield; Doris Sullivan (Paul), Memphis, TN.&nbsp;

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, the Gove Settlers F.C.E, and served on the Gove County American Cancer Board and Gove County 4H Council.&nbsp;

Loree is survived by brothers, Gordon Maxwell (Evelyn), Salina, Laverne Maxwell (Marlene), Quinter: sisters Anita Bray (William), Hawthorne, NV, and Luella Hadland, Dawson Creek, BC; grandchildren, Ricky Holaday (Andrea), Amanda Brown (Wilbert), Roxanne Head, Christina Blain (Derek) Rebecca Day, Heather Holaday (Jacob), Kaleb Holaday, Nicole Holaday; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on April 5, 2001, her parents Earl and Mary Maxwell, brother Leonard Maxwell and sister Mary Louise Sorenson.&nbsp;

Due to the current pandemic, a private, immediate family graveside service will be observed at the Grinnell Township Cemetery.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be determined at a convenient date in the future yet to be announced.&nbsp;

Carl L. Barnett, 68, of Colby, died Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Via 
Christi St. Francis, in Wichita, KS. He was born February 4, 1952, in 
Colby, to Floyd and Mildred (Hawkins) Barnett. 

Carl graduated from 
Golden Plains High School in 1970. On August 22, 1971 he married Betty 
Ann Dible, in Rexford, KS. Carl joined the National Guard in 1972 and 
served for 6 years. He was a farmer, had cattle and calves. Carl enjoyed
 having a school bus route and driving the activity bus for Golden 
Plains. He drove the bus for 39 years. He was a member of the Rexford 
American Legion. Carl enjoyed fishing, golfing, cards and his morning 
coffee group. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers basketball fan. Carl 
loved bus trips and traveling, especially to his grandchildren’s 
activities, which he never missed. 
Carl was preceded in death by his parents. 
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Colby; children, Jay (Kimberly) 
Barnett, of Colby and Jill (Scott) Ptacek, of Garden City, KS and 
grandchildren, Taylor and Brianna Barnett and Brooke and Chloe Ptacek.

Peggy Joan Culver, 84, died on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton. She was born on July 3, 1936, at Shields the 
daughter of Melvin A. Reed &amp; Estella (Toots) Torson. She married 
Jerry Culver on October 15, 1955, at Dighton. 
Peggy graduated from Dighton High School in 1954 and then Cosmetology 
School in Wichita. She started working for Blanche McKelvey before 
moving to Liberal for a short time, then opened Nu-Charm Beauty Salon in
 Dighton in 1960. In 1969, she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska,for 47 years 
where she had two beauty salons and also operated a beauty school. She 
had served on the State Boards of Cosmetology in both Kansas and Alaska.
 She had volunteered in Alaska by flying to the Nome and Bristol Bay 
areas, taking a dog sled to villages and doing hair for the native 
women, at times getting paid with fish. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, 
playing cards, her family activities and cooking Elephant Ears for 
family and guests. She moved back to Kansas in 2016 and lived in 
Cimarron for a short time before returning to Dighton. She was a member
 of the First Christian Church in Dighton. 
Peggy touched a lot of heads and hearts, she will forever be remembered and missed. 
She is survived by her Husband- Jerry Culver of Dighton, 2 Sons- Donald

Darlene was born on November 14, 1941, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert and Maria Leoba (Riedel) Karlin.  She grew up in Catherine, Kansas, and moved to Victoria, Kansas, in 1955, and graduated from Victoria High School.  She met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Fredrick Adam Ernst on July 14, 1962, in Victoria, Kansas.  From this union Darlene and Fred were blessed with 3 sons Mark, Michael, and Matthew.  She worked in the kitchen at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays for several years.  Later she worked in the kitchen for USD 407 and Russell Regional Hospital.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and the Russell V.F.W. #6240 Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed making baby quilts, fishing, polka music, country music, dancing, doing the dishes, and watching KU Jayhawk basketball.  Most of all she enjoyed being a wife, mother, homemaker, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her sons Michael Ernst and wife Laurie of Russell, Kansas and Matthew Ernst and wife Sherri of Olathe, Kansas; 4 grandchildren Kelsey, Derek, Tyler and Ashlyn and 2 great grandchildren Kristopher and Ensley; brothers Darrell Karlin and wife Elsie, Francis Karlin, Larry Karlin, Tony Karlin and wife Wanda, Tom Karlin and wife Saundra; sisters Carol (Carrie) Klaus and Marilyn Wagner and husband Gary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred on March 25, 2020, and son Mark.  A graveside service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 05, 2020, at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, November 04, 2020, at the mortuary.  A memorial service may be held at a later date.  Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, oversees the funeral service arrangements.

Orville Leon Pruter, 84, died on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas.

Orville was born on November 17, 1935, at Natoma, Ks to Alvin and Yvonne (Goad) Pruter. He grew up on the family farm north of Natoma.  He graduated in the class of 1953, from Natoma High School.  On June 5, 1955,  he was united in marriage to Betty Zweifel at the Amherst EUB Church.  They had 5 sons and one daughter.  Orville worked in the oil fields, 14 years at Western Power and Light in Plainville, Kansas and he drove the activity bus for local school district. He was an avid farmer and worked for the County of Osborne Highway Department.  Orville and Betty were nominated to the Osborne County Hall of Fame in 2016.

He loved singing in the church choir, working with the county tourism and being with family and friends.

He was a member of the Osborne County tourism, Kansas Sampler Foundation, Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and a member of the Natoma Heritage Seekers.

He leaves behind wife Betty, of the home; children Gale (Teresa), Daryl (Lisa), Douglas (Dina), and Kevin (France’).  He has 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and very good friends.

Orville was preceded in death by father Alvin, Mother Yvonne, 2 brothers and daughter and one son.  He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service to celebrate Orville’s life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 05, 2020, at the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas. Wanda Jean (Stull) Braun, 92, of Hays, Kansas, and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, at the Via Christi Village in Hays.

Wanda was born June 30, 1928 in Palco, Kansas. She was the daughter of Azel and Thelma (Glasgow) Stull. She grew up in Palco and graduated from Palco High School in the Class of 1946. She then attended and graduated from the Crum’s Beauty School after high school.

Wanda was united in marriage to Edwin J. “Eddie” Braun on June 27, 1950, in Victoria. This union was blessed with seven children: Cindy, Kurt, Steven, Kathleen, James, Karen and Susan. They made their home in Plainville, Kansas until 1968 when they moved to Russell. Eddie preceded her in death on March 22, 2017.  Wanda was a Beautician, working out of her home in Plainville and then working with Gloria at Charme Beauty Shop in Russell. She also worked as the Secretary for St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Church Guild and the Salina Council of Catholic Women. She was a proud member of the “Church Building Committee” for St. Mary Queen of Angels Church She also belonged to the Russell V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and St. Mary’s Quilters. She was a proud member of the Russell Ladies Golf Association and shot a Hole-In-One in 2006. She was an active person that enjoyed KU basketball, Chiefs football, and Royals baseball, she loved quilting, bike rides, weekends at the lake, and attending aqua classes in Hays. She and Eddie traveled around the world with friends, and many miles to spend time with their children and grandchildren.

Wanda’s surviving family include her four daughters, Cindy Munsch (Harvey) of Hays, Kansas, Kathleen Hoss of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Karen Gutierrez (Mario) of Hays, Kansas and Susan Dreiling (Todd) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sons, Kurt Braun (Cindy) of Aurora, Colorado, Steven Braun (Sue) of Aurora, Colorado and James Braun of Surprise, Arizona (Jim lost his wife Sharon after her battle with cancer on May 25, 2020); 19 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eddie; brothers, Wendell Stull and Rex Stull; two grandsons, Travis Braun and Jeremiah Braun.

Due to COVID-19, to protect our most vulnerable, a private family Mass will be held with burial following at the St. Fidelis Cemetery in Victoria. No visitation is being held. To all who have known and loved her, Thank You! We will miss your presence! To all her grandchildren that will not be travelling in, “We love you”, a “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. Remember and Honor those in Nursing Care Facilities, they are lonely and need Connection.

Dighton. He was born on September 24, 1948 at Garden City the son of 
Alphonse &amp; Catherine (Polan) Kerschen. He married Nora Coberly on 
July 17, 1971 at Garden City. 
Thomas graduated from Leoti High School in 1948. He worked on the 
family farm before working at the butcher shop in Leoti and farming for 
area farmers. In 1981 he moved to Dighton and worked at Lane County 
Implement for 30 years. After retiring he once again helped area 
farmers. He was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church of Dighton and a
 life member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodcrafts, teaching 
his grandchildren woodworking and his family activities. 
He is survived by his Wife- Nora Kerschen, 2 Sons- William Kerschen of 
Offerle and Daniel Kerschen of Houston, Texas, Daughter- Victoria 
McIntyre of Selden, 4 Brothers- James Kerschen, Le Roy Kerschen, Joseph 
Kerschen all of Wichita, and Dale Kerschen of Denver, Colorado, 2 
Sisters- Lorena Forest and Mary Winters both of Wichita and 3 
Grandchildren.

Thomas P. Kerschen

Rosalie Wallace, 101, died on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton. She was born on June 20, 1919 in Scott County the 
daughter of John Wesley &amp; Gladys Emaline (Conner) Shull. She 
married W.F. (Bill) Wallace on April 27, 1941 at Sterling. He died on 
March 28, 1996. 
Rosalie began her early school at Grigsby (as it was known then) and 
continued her grade school years at Prairie Home school south of Amy. 
She then attended Lane County Community High School and Cosmetology 
school in Lincoln, Nebraska. After her marriage they made their home on
 the farm in Sutton Township in the Southwest corner of Lane County. 
She was a real farm women. She did the usual life work of a farmers 
wife including house keeping, helping with the livestock and the 
farming. She was a very knowledgeable women, never forgetting an 
incident that happened or a persons birthday. She knew and always 
remembered every birthday or date of every event she had been told and 
this kept her mind going. In July 2013 she had an accident and broke 
her leg and this confined her to the Lane County Long Term Care. 
She is survived by 2 Sister-In-Laws- Joyce Shull and Dora Mae Bowman, 
Brother-In-Law- Charley Montgomery, Special Friend- David Knoll and 
Nieces &amp; Nephews- Tammy (Steve) Rice, Dan (Rita) Shull, Mike Shull,

Virginia L. (Schoenfeld) Pratt

Robert E. “Bob” Button, 94, passed away Oct. 30, 2020, at River Bend 
Assisted Living, Great Bend.&nbsp; He was born September 17, 1926, in Great 
Bend to Dee E. and Grace B. (Dorshaffer) Button.&nbsp; He married Peggy L. 
Geil Jan. 6, 1952, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Peggy passed away Aug. 5, 1996.&nbsp; He 
later married Coralie J. (Niedens) Murphy April 21, 1999, in Great 
Bend.&nbsp; She survives.

Bob, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, was an area farmer and 
previously owned and operated Button Honda.&nbsp; He was an active member of 
Trinity Lutheran Church, holding many past offices, church chancel 
choir, Golden Belt Carvers Club, Kansas State Anthropological 
Association, Santa Fe Trail Association, Barton County Historical 
Society past president, Great Bend township treasurer, Shafer Art 
Gallery board member and Great Bend Public Library board member.&nbsp; Bob's 
love of history, artifact collecting and nature lapped over into his 
passion and skill in wood carving, being known for his intricate craft 
in creating decoys and Native American and historical figures. &nbsp;Many in 
which are displayed at the Barton County Historical Society Museum

Survivors include wife Coralie Button, of the home; two sons, Robert 
J. “Rob” Button and wife RoAnn of Great Bend, Randy E. Button and wife 
Renee of Great Bend; two daughters, Debra Sue Hill and husband Bill of 
Bountiful, Utah, and Judy K. VonFeldt and husband Jim of Larned; ten 
grandchildren and many great grandchildren; two sisters in law; Marilyn

Geil Jan. 6, 1952, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Peggy passed away Aug. 5, 1996.&nbsp; He 
later married Coralie J. (Niedens) Murphy April 21, 1999, in Great 
Bend.&nbsp; She survives.Bob, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, was an area farmer and 
previously owned and operated Button Honda.&nbsp; He was an active member of 
Trinity Lutheran Church, holding many past offices, church chancel 
choir, Golden Belt Carvers Club, Kansas State Anthropological 
Association, Santa Fe Trail Association, Barton County Historical 
Society past president, Great Bend township treasurer, Shafer Art 
Gallery board member and Great Bend Public Library board member.&nbsp; Bob's 
love of history, artifact collecting and nature lapped over into his 
passion and skill in wood carving, being known for his intricate craft 
in creating decoys and Native American and historical figures. &nbsp;Many in 
which are displayed at the Barton County Historical Society MuseumSurvivors include wife Coralie Button, of the home; two sons, Robert 
J. “Rob” Button and wife RoAnn of Great Bend, Randy E. Button and wife

Verline M. Sander, age 66, of Boonville, Missouri, a former Victoria, Kansas, resident&nbsp;died Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Lakeview Care Center in Boonville,&nbsp;Missouri.&nbsp; She was born on May 11, 1954, in Hays, Kansas to Saturin Anton “Tony” and Pauline (Herman) Sander.&nbsp;

She attended the Anderson School of Hope in Victoria, Kansas, for many years until it closed.&nbsp; Verline spent her pastime playing with her doll collection.&nbsp; She and her mother moved to Boonville, Missouri, in 2005 to be close to Joe and Mona, and their families.

Survivors include one brother, Joe Sander and wife, Mona, Boonville, MO;&nbsp; and four nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at10:00 A.M. Monday, November 2, 2020, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Sister Edith Marie Hauser, 93, died October 30, 2020, in the 
Dominican Sisters’ convent infirmary, Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born January

pronounced vows in 1946.&nbsp; Sister Edith Marie ministered as an educator,

Howard Lewis “Arkie” McNair, 80, McCracken, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

Arkie was born November 29, 1939, in Moro, Arkansas, the son of Homer
 McNair, Sr. and Jessamine (Shelton) McNair.&nbsp; He was a resident of 
McCracken, Kansas, since 2003, moving from Thornton, Colorado.&nbsp; He 
worked in cable maintenance for the telephone industry before his 
retirement.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

On December 31, 1965, he married Diana F. Ochs at Fort Worth, Texas.&nbsp;

Survivors include:&nbsp; his wife, Diana F. McNair, McCracken, Kansas; two
 sons, Travis McNair (Alice), Franktown, Colorado, and Curtis McNair 
(Kelly), Thornton, Colorado; four grandchildren, Melanie McNair, 
Thornton, Colorado, Jesse McNair (Blythe), Parker, Colorado, Kristen 
McNair, Thornton, Colorado, and Tyler McNair, Highlands Ranch, Colorado;
 and one sister, Patsy Edgin, Marianna, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Travis McNair,
 Jr.; seven brothers, Cecil McNair, Homer McNair, Jr., Ernest McNair, 
James McNair, Henry McNair, Leroy McNair; and Roger McNair; and&nbsp; four

Howard Lewis 'Arkie' McNair

Evelyn Marie Griffiths, 92, passed away October 29, 2020. She was 
born October 4, 1928, in Long Island, Kansas to Henry and Hattie (Van 
Kooten) Erickson. 

Evelyn grew up in Long Island and graduated from Long 
Island High School in 1946. She attended Brown Mackie Business College 
in Salina and later worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Indianola, 
Nebraska. On June 10, 1949, she married Bernard Griffiths. Evelyn and 
Bernard raised their two sons in Long Island and were proud owners of 
the Commercial State Bank there for many years.

Evelyn loved to travel and enjoyed trips with friends and family 
throughout the United States and Europe. Evelyn's home was always open 
for family gatherings and holidays and, later in life, she regularly 
hosted aunts, uncles, sister, brother, cousins, sons and friends for 
Friday morning coffee and sweets. A grand time was always had by all as 
they reminisced about family and discussed the future of America. Evelyn
 was always fond of her five grandchildren, and made sure to reward them
 for every good report card they showed her. Evelyn was an active 
volunteer in the Long Island community and devoted her time to the Long 
Island Library and Community Center. She was baptized and a Life Member 
of the Luctor Christian Reformed Church.

Evelyn is survived by: her sons, Douglas (Karen) Griffiths of Norton 
and Scott (Robbie) Griffiths of Long Island; four grandchildren Tara 
Griffiths of Milford,Ne., John (Kenzie) Griffiths of Norton, Joel 
(Hillary) Griffiths of Overland Park, and Henry (Meredith) Griffiths of 
Long Island; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; 
sister Ilene Johnson; brother Norman Erickson; eight nieces and nephews;
 and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, 
Bernard, infant daughter Pamela, sister in law Rose Erickson and brother
 in law Paul Johnson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 
2020, in the Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, KS with Reverend Shawn

Evelyn Marie Griffiths

Mark Alan Jarvis passed away on October 27, 2020 at the Rooks County 
Health Center in Plainville, KS, at the age of 70. 

He was born on August
 3, 1950 in Lamar, MO to Olan and Marie Jarvis. Mark attended the Lamar 
School District and graduated with the Class of 1968. After graduating, 
Mark joined the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. After 
being honorably discharged from the military, Mark began his career as a
 Corrections Officer and worked for the Stockton Correctional Facility 
for 30 years.
 Upon Mark’s retirement from the correctional facility, he stayed 
busy with contract freight hauling, appliance repairs, and installing 
Dish TV. Mark was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #8873 in Stockton 
and was also a lifetime member of the NRA. 
 Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Shelley Dempsey and 
husband Erin of Blue Springs, MO; sister, Connie Moore of Joplin, MO; 
and three grandchildren as well as some nieces and nephews.
 Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Olan and Marie; brother, Ernest Jarvis; and sister, Mary Hurrell.

Ervin L. Kuhlman, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital - Long Term Care, WaKeeney, KS. 
 Ervin was born May 25, 1934, in rural Smith County, KS, the son of 
Louis H. and Emma (Grauerholz) Kuhlmann.&nbsp; He married Florence M. Lohman 
on June 4, 1954, at St. John Lutheran Church, Athol, KS, to this union 
they were blessed with four children, Connie, Marsha, Chris and 
Michelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence and a son Chris. 
 Ervin &nbsp;is survived by three daughters, Connie (Keven) Strutt of Hays, 
Marsha (Andy) Oldham of WaKeeney, Michelle Reichard of Lansing; daughter
 in law, Wendy Kuhlman of Oberlin; a brother Arthur Kuhlmann of Athol, a
 sister Marlene Kuhlmann of Kensington; eight grandchildren, Shawn 
Strutt and friend Alicia Pfeffer, Brian Strutt, Joshua (Taner) Nixon,

Pastor Bob Sinclair officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be held on Sunday, 
November 1, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral 
Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center.&nbsp; Burial will be in St. John 
Lutheran Church Cemetery, Athol with military honors.&nbsp;

 </figure>Ervin L. Kuhlman, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital - Long Term Care, WaKeeney, KS. 
 Ervin was born May 25, 1934, in rural Smith County, KS, the son of 
Louis H. and Emma (Grauerholz) Kuhlmann.&nbsp; He married Florence M. Lohman 
on June 4, 1954, at St. John Lutheran Church, Athol, KS, to this union 
they were blessed with four children, Connie, Marsha, Chris and 
Michelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence and a son Chris. 
 Ervin &nbsp;is survived by three daughters, Connie (Keven) Strutt of Hays, 
Marsha (Andy) Oldham of WaKeeney, Michelle Reichard of Lansing; daughter
 in law, Wendy Kuhlman of Oberlin; a brother Arthur Kuhlmann of Athol, a
 sister Marlene Kuhlmann of Kensington; eight grandchildren, Shawn 
Strutt and friend Alicia Pfeffer, Brian Strutt, Joshua (Taner) Nixon, 
Jack Farr, Antonio and Dillon Kuhlman, and Matthew Reichard; and ten 
great grandchildren, Paige Strutt, Damian, Devon, Jackson and Melissa

Tiffany Renee (Basgall) Kyer, age 46, 
of Little Rock, AR, formerly of Schoenchen, KS passed away on Thursday, 
October 22, 2020. She was born November 24, 1973, in Hays, KS to Pam 
(Dinges) Basgall and Theodore Basgall. She graduated from Hays High in 
1992.

Tiffany was a loving mother to her 
children who meant the world to her. She was a community volunteer who 
enjoyed gardening, nature walks, being outdoors and she loved Tom Petty.

She is survived by her parents, Ted 
Basgall of Hays and Pam (Dinges) Basgall and LaVerne J. Dreiling of 
Schoenchen; two sons, Gavin and Cannon Kyer of Little Rock; a brother, 
Brad Basgall and wife April of Hays and their children, Emma, Braxton 
and Ella.

She was preceded in death by her 
maternal grandparents, Isidore and Loretta Dinges and her paternal 
grandparents, Clarence and Regina Basgall as well as an uncle, LeRoy 
Herrman.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM 
Friday, October 30, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen. 
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time with a rosary service at 10:30 AM all at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gavin and Cannon Kyer Education Fund.
