Mark Andrew Winger, 55, of Colby, died December 16, 2020, at his home.
He was born December 4, 1965, in Johnson, KS, to Richard and Marie
(Collings) Winger. Mark graduated from Stanton County High School in
1984 and then attended West Texas State University in Canyon, TX,
graduating in 1987. He went on to earn his Master’s in Agribusiness from
Kansas State University. Mark was the Chief Credit Officer at Farm
Credit of Western Kansas where he worked for 30 years.
On June 7, 1986, Mark married his high school sweetheart, Tonya Neilan.
Mark was a total family man, a loving husband, a proud father to his
three sons, and was adored by his four grandkids who called him “Pop.”
He loved attending his sons’ games and activities as they grew up and
now was so proud of the men they had become and the close bond they
shared. He loved reading, camping, and visiting historical and
aeronautical museums. He also loved to travel and explore the state of
Kansas as well as the world including trips to Africa and China and a
sailing trip to the Caribbean.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stacey L. Winger and father-in-law Leo Neilan.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya; sons, Chaz (Dakota) Winger, of
Oakley, KS; Zane Winger and Gage Winger, both of Colby; siblings,
Melodie (Don) Casey, Johnson, KS, Kim (Paul) Tucker, Johnson, KS, Susan
(Mike) Johnson, Garden City, KS and Jeff (Anita) Winger, Starkville, MS
and 4 grandchildren, Kobee, Easton, Archer and Mesa.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21,
2020, at Celebration Community Church in Colby. The services will also
be live streamed and archived on www.openspacessports.com. Memorials are
suggested to the Mark Winger Children’s College Fund at Farmers and
Merchants Bank, Prairie Museum of Art and History or the Stanton County
