Darrell Dean Tanner

Darrell Dean Tanner, 86, passed away December 16, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born January 17, 1934, in Wamego, the son of Clarence A. and Clara McKowen Tanner.  A longtime area resident.  He worked for Cooper feed, Ark Valley Implement, Pawnee Beef Builders, Delaney Implement and retired from USD#495 School District.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Larned.  In his early years he enjoyed rodeo and training horses.  He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.  His passion was outdoor gardening and meticulously maintaining his yard and lawn.  He was also an avid sports fan.

On August 10, 1957, he married Jean Berroth in Paxico.  She survives.

Other survivors include; four sons, Mike, Larned, Rick (Kathy) Topeka, Rob (Donna), Garden City, Brent (Denise), Manhattan and; a sister, Betty Volz, Dodge City and nine grandchildren, Emily (Connor), Katie, Whitney, Kara, Cooper, Parker (Tianna), Weston, Carson and Kaycee and two great grandchildren, Charlie and Kaiden.

He was preceded in death by; seven brothers, Wilbur, John, Harold, Ronald, Dale, Charles and Argel, four sisters, Mary Turner, Alice Brost, Lucille Frazier and Dorothy Judy, a grandson, David Tanner and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Tanner.

Private Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday December 21, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bernard Felix presiding.  Service will be viewable via facebook live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary.  Vigil service and rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary.  Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
