Keith Allen Wilson of WaKeeney, KS was born March 15th, 1963, and passed away on June 7th at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, KS.

Keith was son to Carolyn Frances Wright and the late Robert Thorine 
Wilson, husband to Natalie Wilson, brother to Stacy Morris, Christopher 
Wilson and the late Bambi Wilson. Father to Andrew James Wilson, Joshua 
Fierek, Brianna Fierek and Shanna Martinez, and has joined his son Jacob
 in heaven. His memory will live on with his 10 grandchildren.

Keith was the life force and guide to his family. Keith spent the 
majority of his life living in Colorado before moving to WaKeeney, KS in
 2016 where he and Natalie decided to plant their retired roots.&nbsp;

In remembrance of Keith, we will be celebrating his life on July 3rd, 2021, at the Park in WaKeeney, KS at 11 AM.

A. Sharon Linder Mullen, age 85, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, 
at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on 
June 6, 1935, at the rural home of her paternal grandfather, Emil 
Linder, in Dickinson County, Kansas.&nbsp; Sharon was the oldest child of 
Albert and Mabel Burr Linder.&nbsp; She graduated from high school in May of 
1953 in Seibert, Colorado.

Sharon was married to Leonard L. Mullen in Raton, New Mexico on 
December 29, 1951.&nbsp; To this union were born three sons and one daughter,
 Rick, Kevin, Shane, and Kandice.&nbsp; They moved to Wichita county in March
 of 1956 where they resided to the present.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church where she 
had served as elder, deacon, and co-moderator of United Presbyterian 
Women and the 3 church team.

Sharon was a life member of McCowen Crouch #6952 VFW Auxiliary where 
she served as Chaplain&nbsp;and Secretary/Treasurer.&nbsp; She was a trustee in 
the 6th District Auxiliary and also a member of the Wichita County 
Health Center volunteers.

Sharon is survived by two sons; Rick &amp; Patty Mullen of 
Plainville, Kansas, Kevin &amp; Kathy Mullen of Leoti, Kansas, and one 
daughter, Kandice McCabe of Pueblo, Colorado, and a daughter-in-law, 
Cindy Mullen of Oakley, Kansas.&nbsp; Eight Grandchildren and Seventeen Great
 Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and one son, Shane Mullen.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at
 the First United Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Pastor 
Stephen Morefield presiding.&nbsp; Services will be streamed live on Facebook

Marlene Ann Robbins

Longtime Goodland, KS resident Mark Shane Peden, 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Goodland on May 24, 2021.

Mark was born on August 21, 1960, in Gothenburg, NE to Gordon and Vicki (Hoyt) Peden.&nbsp; He was one of three children.&nbsp; He attended school in Cozad, NE and graduated from Cozad High School in 1978. After graduating high school, he started farming, something that he truly loved, and continued to do so up until his death.

Some of his favorite hobbies were racing racecars, shooting guns, driving around and being a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his three children; John (Lexi Sims) Peden of Goodland, KS Taylor (John) Meitl of Jennings, KS and Jamie Peden of Tremonton, UT.&nbsp; He is also survived by his father Gordon Peden of Cozad, NE, his mother Vicki Peden of Kearney, NE, one brother Cody (Debra) Peden of Cozad, NE, a sister Teri (Tim) Schmeeckle of Gothenburg, NE, and four grandchildren.

Mark Shane Peden

Curtis Lee Eicher, 86, of Colby, died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 
Citizens Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1935, on a farm north of 
Brewster to Harry and Lois (McArthur) Eicher. He attended the Prairie 
Gem School, and at 6 years old, he drove a pickup to school each morning
 containing the school’s water supply. He graduated from Brewster High 
School, where he drove the school bus starting his sophomore year. 
He followed his older sister to the University of Colorado in Boulder, 
but after a semester he was homesick and returned to Kansas. That fall, 
he joined the U.S. Army before being drafted and served two years at a 
base in Gary, Ind. After completing his service, he returned to Kansas 
State University, where he flunked ballroom dancing, but somehow 
convinced someone to substitute welding for an English requirement so 
that he could be awarded a bachelor’s degree in feed technology with an 
administration option. 
On Aug. 16, 1959, he married Beverly Sims. They returned to live on the 
farm in a house near his parents. He was elected to the Brewster School 
Board and was appointed to the board of the Goodland vocational 
technical school. 
He had planned to spend his life farming with his father but driving the
 tractor aggravated a previous back injury. After surgery, he looked for
 a less physically demanding career and wound up with a job interview 
for a position as bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. 
When he told the interviewer he had a background in agriculture and 
wanted to live and work in Northwest Kansas, he was hired on the spot. 
He considered bankers among the smartest people he knew, but he worked 
for FDIC during a 30-year period when many banks had to be closed. He 
spent his weeks traveling with fellow examiners, often eating tamales or
 other delicacies straight out of the can. On weekends, he returned home
 to Colby, where the world’s best cook awaited. 
After his retirement, he became a master gardener and an excellent cook 
himself. He was known to his grandchildren as HoHo and never failed to 
please them with his chicken enchiladas. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Eicher; and 
three sisters, Lillian Buckner, Edith Taylor and Esther Eicher. 
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of the home; a son, Eric Eicher, of
 Colby; a daughter, Erin (Randy) Mathews, of Colby; and grandchildren 
Sabrina and Lear Eicher and their mother, Vanessa, and Brady, Graham and
 Reece Mathews. 
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 
14, at the Colby United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the

Betty Ione (DeVore) Laubhan, 95, of Russell, Kansas, and formerly of 
Gage, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Russell Regional
 Hospital.

Betty was born January 29, 1926, in Russell County, Kansas.&nbsp; She was 
the youngest of six children born to Verne and Eva Grace (Brown) 
DeVore.&nbsp; She grew up and attended school in Gage Oklahoma and graduated 
from Gage High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Fred George Laubhan, Jr. on May 2, 
1948, in Canadian, Texas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters; 
Deborah and Jane.&nbsp; They made their home in Gage.&nbsp; Fred preceded her in 
death in March of 2004.&nbsp; Later that year Betty moved to the Russell 
area.

Betty was the Ellis County, Oklahoma Tag Agent for many years.&nbsp; She 
also was a secretary for Texaco and frequently helped Fred with his Dry 
Cleaning business.&nbsp; She was a member of the Church of Christ in Gage and
 in Russell.&nbsp; She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing 
Bridge with the local Bridge Club, doing jigsaw puzzles and attending 
her grandchildren’s events.&nbsp; She was a very social person that knew no 
stranger.

Betty’s surviving family include her two daughters, Deborah Greene 
(Stanley) of El Dorado, Kansas and Jane Carter (Jim) of Russell, Kansas;
 six grandchildren, Darcy Fowler, Jordan Carter, Julie Counts (Chad), 
Colette Greene, Mason Greene (Caitlin) and Brooke Hebert (Doug); and 
twelve great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; grandson 
Joey Carter, two brothers, Wayne DeVore and Keith DeVore; and three 
sisters, Hazel DeVore, Evelyn Fishgrab and Alene DeVore.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 15, 2021 
at the Gage Cemetery in Gage, Oklahoma.&nbsp; No visitation will be held.&nbsp;

Arlyn J. Schumacher of Victoria, age 82, died Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Ellis Nursing Home.&nbsp; He was born March 13, 1939, in Pfeifer to Wendelin and Anna (Schmidt) Schumacher.&nbsp; He married Clarita M. (Dreiling) on September 13, 1958, in Victoria.

He was a bricklayer for 50 years and owned and operated Arlyn Schumacher Masonry.

Arlyn grew up and attended grade school in Pfeifer, and attended Schoenchen High School, then was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays.&nbsp; He served 6 and ½ years in the Kansas National Guard, and was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis.&nbsp; He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting and fishing.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Clarita Schumacher, of the home; one daughter, Michele Unrein and husband Glen, Victoria, KS; three brothers, Laverne Schumacher and wife, Jane, Hays, KS; Dennis Schumacher and wife, Kathy, Hays, KS; Wendy Schumacher and wife, Carol, Hays, KS; four grandchildren, Audrey Lewis (Jesse); Cory Unrein (Tiffany); Amber Younger (Joel); and Courtney Unrein; nine great grandchildren, Braden Lewis; Keaton Lewis; Jaxon Lewis; Addilyn Lewis; Abby Bronson; Max Unrein; Kimber Younger; Emery Younger; and Jayce Younger.&nbsp;

Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kimberly Sue Schumacher; one sister, Twila Knight; and one infant brother, Vearl Joseph Schumacher.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating.&nbsp;

Vita Evelyn (Chinn) Stegman, age 91,&nbsp;of Hays, Kansas passed away on December 3, 2020, at her home.&nbsp; She was born on the family farm on March 10, 1929, to Maple and Cecil (Bobbit) Chinn.

She was one of twelve born and raised on the Chinn family farm in Coats, Kansas.&nbsp; She married Tony Stegman from Pratt Kansas on January 6, 1948.&nbsp; Together they raised seven children.

Vita treasured her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; She loved to work in the yard and going to garage sales.&nbsp; She was faithful in reading the bible and trusting in God.&nbsp; She believed that there was good in everyone.

She is survived by her sisters Jean and Lila; her sons Joe Stegman (Bert); John Stegman (partner Margie); Anthony Stegman (Juanita); Steve Stegman; Mark Stegman (Sandy), and a daughter Judy Stegman; fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Linda Stegman, and several brothers and sisters.

Sharon L. Fleske passed away June 5, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

She was born January 27, 1950, on her dad’s birthday, in Pratt, 
Kansas to Harold Donald and Myrtillia Olive (Colclazier) Horner. A 
longtime area resident, she graduated from Greensburg High School in 
1968 and then attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri 
before transferring to Haviland Bible College. She worked many years at 
Larned State Hospital and also enjoyed serving with girls’ ministries in
 the Assemblies of God churches in Great Bend and Larned, Kansas.

Sharon married Larry Lee Fleske on January 14, 1989, on her mother’s birthday. Larry preceded her in death on February 20, 2015.

Survivors include: daughter, Amanda Frost, Great Bend; two beloved 
pets, Skippy and Grayson; two brothers, Donald (Diana) Horner, Mulvane, 
Kansas, Robert (Debbie) Horner, Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Rhonda 
Staats, Larned, Kansas, Dora (Larri) Gish, Aberdeen, Washington, Becky 
(Jeff) Wells, Americus, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, as well as 
great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; two sisters 
Kay Davis and Ann Callis; a niece, Toni Davis Ricke; and three great 
nieces, Taija Ricke, Jaiden Good, and Katelynne Bilyeu.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Encounter 
Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Dwight Dozier and Pastor Daryl Riffel 
presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 
2021 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 5:00 p.m. to
 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.

Frank B. Pechanec, age 98 years, of La Crosse, Kansas, passed away 
early on Monday morning, June 7, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health
 System – Hays Med Campus.&nbsp;&nbsp;Frank was born on November 18, 1922, at 
Timken, Kansas, to Bohumil F. “B.F.” and Rose Mary (Vsetecka) 
Pechanec.&nbsp;&nbsp;He grew up in the Timken area and attended Olney school 
district 65 until 8th grade and received his GED at age 67. Frank was 
united in marriage to Mary Ann Scheideman on June 11, 1957, at the 
Methodist Church, La Crosse Kansas. The couple farmed and ranched in 
Rush County and Lane County and in later years he worked in the 
insurance industry until his retirement at the age of 88.&nbsp;&nbsp;Frank was a 
former member of the Kansas Livestock Association and served on the 
Timken Rural Fire Department for many years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved gardening, 
woodworking, and had a passion for cattle and horses.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most of all, he 
was a truly great husband, dad, and grandfather.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Pechanec of La Crosse, Kansas; 
one son, Kurt (and wife, Laura) Pechanec of Nekoma, Kansas; one 
daughter, Pam (and husband, Sam) Rose of Gainesville, Texas; two 
granddaughters:&nbsp;&nbsp;Kristen Rose and Kassandra Pechanec; and&nbsp;one grandson, 
Garrett McCormick; one sister, Mary Urban, of La Crosse, Kansas; his 
children from a previous marriage:&nbsp;&nbsp;daughter, Faye Evans, of Derby, 
Kansas, and her sons, Wade and Troy Evans; son, Douglas Pechanec, of

 she was a leader. She helped on special projects for the client and the
 team. She helped agents in chats, helped make quizzes, she was 
brilliant and active, helpful and always ready to make someone smile. 
Even when she had bad days, she cared more about her friends than 
herself.

She was a member of the Rozel United Methodist Church, Daughters of 
the American Revolution, and South Central Stock Horse Association. She 
was a graduate of Friends University, Wichita. She was a loving dog mom 
to Otto, Cash, Lily, River and Oakley.

Survivors include: parents, Kevin and Lori Milch, Larned; three 
sisters, Amanda (Cory) Johnson, Rozel, Hayley (Tyler) Langton, Larned,

She has been a resident of Great Bend since 1982 coming from Jetmore.
 She attended River of Life Church. Bobbie worked in child care for over
 20 years. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles and garage sales, she especially 
loved working with children.

Survivors include a brother, Richard Elson and wife Nina Mae of Great
 Bend; a sister, Mary Anderson and husband Ronald of North Glen, Co.; 
three nieces and seven nephews; many great nieces and nephews; 1 great 
great niece, 1 great great nephew and one on the way. She was preceded 
in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Pennington and Betty 
Barnett; and a nephew, Preston Barnett.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial

lived with her husband Harold Compton for most of their lives. They had
 two children, Lee Allen and Robin Lea who both live in Arizona with 
their spouses. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister 
and brother.
 She had a very full life which began in Goodland, where she was born
 and raised. Sandi met the love of her life Harold. They were married 
May 29, 1954, in Goodland. They moved to Hill City December 20, 1956, 
where they raised their family. In addition to her own children, Sandi 
babysat in Hill City for many years. She took in ironing for others to 
lighten their load. She worked briefly at the Texaco station. Then 
Sandi moved on to a career she was the proudest of with the U.S. Postal 
Service beginning as a Mail Carrier in Hill City. She was promoted to 
the level of Postmaster for the town of Palco, retiring in 2003. Sandi 
was very involved with the Presbyterian Church in many ways from keeping
 books to anything else that was needed. She had other interests, as 
well.
 As a lady of many talents, she had an avid interest in sports, both 
playing softball and becoming the first female certified umpire for 
Kansas. With a husband who is a very active hunter and fisherman she 
happily joined him in those activities and loved it, whether hunting in 
Kansas or fishing in Alaska. Again, she was quick to help others by 
cleaning pheasants when asked. She also loved to go swimming with “her 
girls” in her later years. If someone asked, she was there to lend a 
hand always! Whether a ride to the doctor, grocery store, or anywhere 
else, she was there. 
 As she moves on with her angel wings to meet her family and friends 
who preceded her to heaven, she leaves behind four grandchildren – Wendy
 (Matthew), Alexa, Brian (Kaylin), Daniel (Anna); seven great 
grandchildren – Matt (Jayten), Austin, Anthony, Danica, Brysen, Bentley;
 one great-great-grandson – Brixton from her granddaughter Katelyn who 
preceded her to heaven. There are so many other family members she 
dearly loved who will miss her always.
 The family wants to thank the many who have stopped by with a hug or
 food, phoned to chat, and sent prayers and support. It was her wish 
for a quiet departure to meet those who await her; therefore a memorial 
service is not planned.

Robert Lee Daniels, 79, passed away May 26, 2021, at Woodhaven Care 
Center, Ellinwood. He was born July 21, 1941, at Plainville, to Elmer 
&amp; Atha (Thomas) Daniels. He married Lisa Johnson June 19, 1993.

Robert was a brick layer for Tim Clothier. He loved fishing, hunting,
 spending time with his family, listening to his oldies music and 
drinking bud light.

Survivors include, his wife, Lisa Daniels of the home; a daughter, 
Kena Daniels; two sons, Lavert Johnson and Stephan Johnson; 
stepchildren, Deandrea, Joy, Jamie and Victoria; a brother, Floyd 
Daniels; he was beloved by several grandchildren, great grandchildren 
and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his first wife,
 Tiny and their children, Troy, Tracy and Teresa. He was preceded in 
death by his parents; his brothers, Theodore, Tommie, and Kenneth; and 
his sisters, Katherine, Della Anne, Josephine, and Anna Mae.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, 
June 19, 2021, at the Families' Home, 2806 Williams St., Great Bend, KS 
67530. Memorials have been designated to the Robert Daniels Funeral

Donna Lee Diskau, age 90 of Riley, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on April 15, 1931 on a farm in Northern Riley County, the daughter of Paul and Myrtle (Simnitt) Specht.

On May 19, 1949, she married Dean L. Diskau in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death April 27, 2002.  Donna and Dean were best friends and partners.  They enjoyed their yearly trips to Arizona during the winter months and bringing home some of the treasures found on their outings.

Donna was a homemaker and took care of the books for her husband’s construction company.  She was a board member for the Manhattan Public Library and enjoyed playing bridge and golf with “the girls” on a weekly basis.  Donna was active in the Riley PTA while her daughter was in grade school and was instrumental in starting the book rental program.  She loved to knit and was a very accomplished seamstress.



She is survived by her daughter, Constance (Connie) Diskau of Riley; two grandsons, Jarrod Wege Sr. and wife Jennifer of Manhattan and Robert A. Wege and wife Heather of Newton; four great grandchildren, Jarrod Wege Jr., Jenna Wege and James Wege of Manhattan and Lakin Wege of Newton; one sister, Beverly Sundgren and husband Eldon of Leonardville; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Specht of Topeka and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leland Specht; three sisters, Ila Simons, Kaye Blodgett and Shirley Higgins and three brothers-in-law, Walter Simon, Duane Higgins and Warren Blodgett.


Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Riley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leonardville Nursing Home and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.&nbsp;

unexpectedly at 27 years old on June 5th, 2021. She was born in Hays, 
Kansas, on March 30th, 1994, to Mark and Lesly Rupp. She was a graduate 
of Hays High School class of 2012. Kiley was a loving and caring person 
with a great sense of humor that loved making people laugh. She had a 
way about her that could light up your soul. Kiley had a great love for 
all animals - especially her fur babies, Miley, Bella, and Piper.

She was preceded in death by her 
father, Mark Rupp, her grandparents, Robert and Mary Alice Rupp and 
Kenneth and Helen Savage, and her beloved fur baby, Wendy. Kiley&nbsp;is 
survived by her caring soul mate, Brad Beyer, her mother, Lesly Rupp, 
her sister, Addie Rupp, niece, McKinnley Rupp and numerous aunts, 
uncles, cousins, and many great lifelong friends.

When you think of Kiley, celebrate the 
good memories you have of her and remember that life is fragile, short 
and should be lived to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all 
who knew and loved her.

Edward Lee “Ed” Frey, 84, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at St. Catherine
 Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born May 14, 1936 in Garden 
City, Kansas the son of Frank O. &amp; Charlene B. (Helsel) Frey. 
 Ed grew up on the family farm in Haskell County, Kansas. He 
graduated from Satanta High School in 1954. He then attended and 
graduated from Garden City Community College with an Associate’s in 
Science degree in 1956. Ed then earned his Bachelor of Science degree 
in Agriculture from Fort Hays State University in 1958. He then served 
in the United States Army, entering in 1959 at Fort Leonard Wood in 
Missouri and discharged in 1961 at Fort Carson, Colorado. He then 
served in the Army Reserves until 1965 when he was discharged in Omaha, 
Nebraska. 
 Following the service, Ed returned back to the family farm where he
 worked most of his life as a farmer and stockman. Having a passion for
 conservation, Ed was known for planting and growing trees. He loved 
forestry, building windbreaks, and planting fruit trees. In 2003 he was
 awarded by the Kansas Forest Service in Haskell County, Outstanding 
Forest Steward. In 2004, Ed also earned the Farmer and Rancher Wildlife
 Conservationist Award. Ed was also an avid H O train enthusiast. On 
June 7, 1987, he married Lorita J. Davis in Garden City, Kansas. They 
have lived in Garden City since the time of their marriage. Ed 
continued his farming and ranching career until his retirement in 1998. 
 Survivors include his wife Lorita J. Frey of the home; three 
sisters-in-law Carlene &amp; husband Curtis Bandt of Calhan, Colorado, 
Marylyn &amp; husband Kerry Gough of Scott City, Kansas, and Leanna 
&amp; husband Johnnie Nevin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; ten nieces 
and nephews Shane Holstead, Matthew &amp; wife Brook Roark, Michelle 
&amp; husband Brooks Crane, Allison Gough, Makenzie &amp; husband Brett 
Quintana, Rebecca Nevin, &amp; Martin Gough; and six great nieces and 
nephews Emillia Roark, Preston Crane, Audrey Roark, Ariana Crane, Evelyn
 Quintana, &amp; Wyatt Quintana. Ed is preceded in death by his 
parents.

Edward Lee 'Ed' Frey

Kenneth LeRoy “Kenny” McCormick, 76, Hays, died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at HaysMed.

He was born August 5, 1944, in Wichita, 
Kansas, the third son of John P. and Armella (Leiker) McCormick.&nbsp; He 
graduated from Great Bend High School.&nbsp; On November 28, 1964, he was 
united in marriage to his high school girlfriend, Gloria Ann Scheck.&nbsp; 
She preceded him in death on November 15, 2015, after 51 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; Kenny managed a Phillips 66 station in Emporia, worked for 
his dad in construction, and for 30 years worked for Schult Homes in 
Plainville, retiring in 1998.&nbsp; Kenny and Gloria then moved to Hays and 
for a little more than three years Kenny worked part-time for the City 
of Hays.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 
the St. Mary’s Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984, and the 
Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; He was a 
jack-of-all-trades and handyman who would lend a helping hand when 
friends and family needed home maintenance and repairs.&nbsp; Kenny enjoyed 
woodworking, building, whittling, and tinkering with many projects.

Survivors include his son: Craig 
McCormick and wife Lisa of Wilmington, NC, three daughters:&nbsp; Candy Jones
 and Michelle Kirkpatrick of Plainville, and Dawn McCormick of Hays, a 
sister-in-law: Phyllis McCormick of Great Bend, five grandchildren: Cody
 Jones, Kyle Jones (Christy), Brennon Kirkpatrick (Ashley), Skyler 
McCormick, and Ryder McCormick, two great grandchildren: Lincoln and 
Colton Stipe, and two step-grandchildren: Lilianna and Brianna Griffith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria, and three brothers: Larry, Jerry, and DeWayne McCormick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic 
Church, with Fr. Nick Parker officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St. 
Joseph Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday
 and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel 
Funeral Home.&nbsp; The Bishop Cunningham Knights of Columbus will stand 
honor guard from 5:30 until 6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30, 
followed by a combined third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus 
rosary, all on Thursday at the funeral home.&nbsp;

 </figure>Kenneth LeRoy “Kenny” McCormick, 76, Hays, died Saturday, June 5, 2021, at HaysMed.He was born August 5, 1944, in Wichita, 
Kansas, the third son of John P. and Armella (Leiker) McCormick.&nbsp; He 
graduated from Great Bend High School.&nbsp; On November 28, 1964, he was 
united in marriage to his high school girlfriend, Gloria Ann Scheck.&nbsp; 
She preceded him in death on November 15, 2015, after 51 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; Kenny managed a Phillips 66 station in Emporia, worked for 
his dad in construction, and for 30 years worked for Schult Homes in 
Plainville, retiring in 1998.&nbsp; Kenny and Gloria then moved to Hays and 
for a little more than three years Kenny worked part-time for the City 
of Hays.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 
the St. Mary’s Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984, and the 
Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; He was a 
jack-of-all-trades and handyman who would lend a helping hand when 
friends and family needed home maintenance and repairs.&nbsp; Kenny enjoyed 
woodworking, building, whittling, and tinkering with many projects.Survivors include his son: Craig 
McCormick and wife Lisa of Wilmington, NC, three daughters:&nbsp; Candy Jones
 and Michelle Kirkpatrick of Plainville, and Dawn McCormick of Hays, a 
sister-in-law: Phyllis McCormick of Great Bend, five grandchildren: Cody
 Jones, Kyle Jones (Christy), Brennon Kirkpatrick (Ashley), Skyler 
McCormick, and Ryder McCormick, two great grandchildren: Lincoln and 
Colton Stipe, and two step-grandchildren: Lilianna and Brianna Griffith.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria, and three brothers: Larry, Jerry, and DeWayne McCormick.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic 
Church, with Fr. Nick Parker officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St. 
Joseph Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday
 and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel 
Funeral Home.&nbsp; The Bishop Cunningham Knights of Columbus will stand 
honor guard from 5:30 until 6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30, 
followed by a combined third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus 
rosary, all on Thursday at the funeral home.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to
 the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council #6984.&nbsp; Condolences and
