Arlene M. Sharp

Norton resident Arlene M. Sharp passed away Tuesday,  July 20, 2021,  at the Logan Manor Nursing Home in Logan, KS at the age of 80.

She was born July 19, 1941, in Benkelman, Nebraska the daughter of Henry “Hank” and Helen (Louch) Bernard.

She was united in marriage to Jackie Kier.  To this union three children were born:  Mickie L., Timothy Lee, and Sherry Arlene.  The couple later divorced.  She then met and married George “Butch” B. Sharp, but they too were divorced.

Arlene went to Nursing School in Alliance Ne and graduated in 1969 with her LPN.  She worked in Benkelman, NE, Straton, NE, and Wray, CO.  She then worked at the Harmony Rehabilitation Center in Estes Park, CO.  She was a member of Al-Anon for 25 years.  She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing cards, riding horses and motorcycles, but spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Maxine Reynolds and LaVeta Howard; a borther Marlin Henry Bernard; and three grandchildren Henry Adam “Hanky” Kier, Tyler Casey Jones, and Chad Daniel Kier.

Arlene is survived by her sons Mick Kier and wife Melody of Clayton, KS, Tim Kier and wife Kim of Martinsville, Virginia; a daughter Sherry Jones and husband A.J. of Denison, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.  The family will conduct a memorial graveside service on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Clayton Cemetery, Clayton, KS with Pastor Ron Martin officiating.
