James Curtis Nease, 84, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Kansas Soldier’s Home, Fort Dodge, Kansas. He was a resident of Hays, Kansas for over 32 years.
He was born on February 12, 1937 the son of Shelley Austin and Helen Gwendolyn (Shearer) Nease. He was enlisted in the United State Army, United States Air Force, and the Kansas Army National Guard for a combined 20 years.
He served in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm 1990-1991 and as Past Post Commander at VFW Post 9076 in Hays, Kansas and VFW Post 7349 in Kinsley, Kansas.
On December 29, 1967 in Anchorage, Alaska he married Constance Davis. They were married 33 years and later divorced in 2001. Connie lives in Hays, Kansas.
Survivors include: his daughter, Susan Bartlett and husband Kirby, Bison, Kansas; two sons, Daniel Nease, McPherson, Kansas and Michael Nease and wife Wendy, Hays, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Kristen, Samuel, and Gabriel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Nease, and 6 sisters, Alma Robinson, Blanche Larson, Gladys Cripe, Virginia Coen, Barbara Cook, and Marilyn Lewis.
Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.
