Reta
Ann (Vacura) Barratt passed away Monday June 2, 2025 at Kearney Regional
Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 78.&nbsp; She was born
October 22, 1946 in Oberlin, Kansas to Frank and Margaret (Krizek) Vacura.

Reta
was raised on a farm in Custer Township, southeast of Oberlin.&nbsp; She
attended Dresden Consolidated School and graduated from Decatur Community High
School in 1964.

On
February 21, 1965 Reta married her high school sweetheart, Don Barratt, in
Oberlin.&nbsp; Together they raised three daughters and were blessed with two
grandchildren.

Reta
was a homemaker and dedicated farmers wife.&nbsp; She enjoyed time with family
and friends, gardening, baking, and listening to George Strait music. Reta was
a kind, generous woman who will always be remembered for her caring heart.

Survivors
include three daughters: Krystal Barratt of McCook, NE, Laci Larkins of Hays,
KS and Amber Barratt of Hays, KS; two grandchildren: Riley and Tayler; two
sisters: Marcella Capps of Tulsa, OK and Pat (Rod) Fringer of Oberlin, KS, in
addition to other relatives and friends.

She
was preceded in death by her husband, Don Barratt; parents: Frank and Margaret
Vacura; father-in-law: Robert Barratt; mother-in-law: Josephine (Fields)
Barratt; son-in-law: Jesse Larkins; and brother-in-law Allen Capps.

Funeral
service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home in
Oberlin, KS at 2:00PM.&nbsp; Visitation will be on Thursday, June 5, at the
funeral home from 1:00-7:00PM with family receiving guests from
5:00-7:00PM.&nbsp; Burial will be in Oberlin Cemetery.&nbsp; Memorial

Reta Ann (Vacura) Barratt 

Ida Mae (Hamel)
LeSage age 95, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Pinnacle Park
Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Salina, Kansas.

She was born on
January 26, 1930, on the family farm four miles north of Damar, Kansas to Alex and Elsie
(Thibault) Hamel and was the youngest of 16 sixteen children. Dr. Peterson, who
delivered Ida Mae later delivered three of her children, Mark, Alan and Denise.

At age six, Ida
Mae attended a country school near their farm for only one year.&nbsp; She then
rode the school bus to
Damar where she was taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph and graduated from
Damar High
School.&nbsp; She often recounted that, being the youngest in the family, she
was the target of many pranks,
especially from brothers Jack and Willie.

Her father, Alex,
died in January of 1940 before her tenth birthday, and the family (Elsie, Jack, Willie, and Ida
Mae) then moved to a house in Damar in 1941.&nbsp; Ida Mae often babysat for
her many nieces, nephews,
and cousins during her adolescent years.

Ida Mae met Dean
LeSage at a baseball game at Damar, and they soon discovered that they shared a birthday on
January 26.&nbsp; They were married on July 26, 1951, in Damar and settled on a
farm ten miles north of
Damar.&nbsp; Dean preceded her in death on May 17, 2014.&nbsp; They had seven
children.&nbsp;.

After retiring
from farming, Dean and Ida Mae moved to Hays in 1985 where she volunteered at the ARC Thrift
Shop for over 25 years.

While in Hays,
Ida Mae spent her free time visiting with friends, playing dominos, puzzling, weekly bingo and
making frequent trips to Walmart. She occasionally went on horse trail rides
with Dean. Ida Mae
especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and reminiscing with
lifelong friends.&nbsp; Her final three weeks were spent at the Pinnacle Park
Nursing Home in Salina.

Ida is survived
by her seven children: Mark LeSage and Sue, Stockton, KS; Alan LeSage and Nyla, Salina, KS;
Leon LeSage and Michelle, Pretty Prairie, KS; Les LeSage and Connie, Winchester, VA;
Denise Goetz and John, Wichita, KS; Renee Oliphant and Doug, Olathe, KS; Deanna LeSage,
Victoria, KS; and her sister-in-law, Antionette Hamel, Hill, City, KS; her grandchildren,
Tiffany LeSage; Jessica LeFort; Tyson LeSage; Preston LeSage; Parker LeSage;
Skye King; Matthew
Goetz; Maria Devaney; Scott Oliphant; Travis Oliphant; Nicole Oliphant; Sydney Ware; Sawyer
LeSage; and her 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded
in death by her husband Dean, her eleven brothers: Francis, Edmond, Albert, Arthur, Bernard,
Alphonse, Louis, Emery, Oliver, Jasper, and Wilfred, and her four sisters: Alma Waldron, Lucille
Thomie, Edna Haag, and Olive Hamel.

A Mass of
Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Saint Joseph
Catholic Church, 13th and
Ash, Hays, Kansas with Celebrant, Father Fred Gatschet. 

The burial will
be 1:30 P.M. Friday, at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at WaKeeney, Kansas.

A vigil service
and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.

Visitation will
be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, at the Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays

Ida Mae (Hamel) LeSage

Joanna Copeland, 83, of Manhattan,
Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025. She was born on October 9,
1941, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Howard and Florence Metheny.

She was united in marriage to
Jimmy on February 21st, 1960, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Joanna was a woman of many talents and an
unwavering devotion to her family. After graduating high school, she attended
beauty school and proudly opened her own beauty shop. Over the years, she
worked side by side with her husband, Jimmy Copeland, as a bookkeeper in the
parts stores, he owned and managed. She also worked as a bank teller and later
fulfilled a dream of owning her own bakery in Springfield, Missouri.&nbsp; Joanna’s heart was always with her family.
She loved baking treats for and with her children and grandchildren, sewing
beautiful quilts, working in her garden, and spending time camping and enjoying
the outdoors with loved ones. Her home was filled with warmth, delicious smells
from the kitchen, and the laughter of generations.

She is survived by her children,
Lana Copeland of Manhattan, KS; Jana (Kevin) Baker of Manhattan, KS; and James
(Angela) Copeland of La Salle, CO. She was a proud grandmother to Brent
(Kallie) Kolterman, Becky (Matt) Marsh, Brandon Baker, Ryan (Megan) Baker,
Alyssa King-Copeland, and Jacob (Emily) Copeland, and a cherished
great-grandmother to Jenna, Takara, Tarik, Jaden, Kalan, McKenzie, Kanton, and
Knox.

Joanna is also survived by her
siblings: Ruthie (Leonard) Steinle, Bonnie (Leonard) Boys, Frank (Jana)
Metheny, Jeanette (Scott) Wilke, and Annette (Chet) Look.

She was preceded in death by her
beloved husband, Jimmy Copeland; her parents, Howard and Florence Metheny; and
her grandson, Zachary James Copeland.

Joanna’s legacy of love,
creativity, and kindness will live on in all who knew her.

Lucille
Marjorie Prater, of Plainville, KS, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Hays, KS,
at the age of 98. She was born on February 4, 1927, to Carl and Barbara (Schauer)
Pfannkuch in the family farmhouse in Phillips County, Kansas.

Raised
during the Great Depression, Lucille learned the value of hard work at a young
age. Whether it was harvesting wheat with scissors, milking the family’s
famously temperamental cow before school, or helping at her parents' business
after classes, Lucille’s industrious spirit remained steadfast throughout her
life.

Lucille
graduated from Logan High School with the Class of 1946. She married Leman
Dwight Prater on December 14, 1947, in Hays, Kansas, beginning a loving union
that would last 40 years until Leman’s passing in 1988.

Lucille’s
career journey was as varied as it was impressive. She worked in local grocery
stores—where she first met Dwight—and became a familiar face as a checker in
both Logan and later C.O. Mammel’s in Plainville. She was also employed at
Travenol, sold Avon, assisted her husband in his State Farm office, and
eventually found her true calling in real estate. Lucille earned her Real
Estate Broker’s license and opened her own business, Quality Real Estate, in
Plainville, serving her community with care.

Despite
her many professional accomplishments, Lucille’s heart always belonged to her
family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren. She loved tending to her flowers, visiting with friends,
and making sure those around her felt loved and supported.

A life
defined by dedication to family, hard work, and quiet resilience, Lucille
leaves behind a legacy of love and service. She will be missed dearly and
remembered always.

She is
survived by her daughter, Dixie Prater Odum of Hays; son, Randy (Kim) Prater of
Plainville; grandchildren: Shane Odum of Parker, CO, Sarah Odum of Wood-Ridge,
NJ, Angie (John) Norton of Schoenchen, KS, Justin (Andee) Prater of Plainville;
step-grandchildren, Tristan (Carissa) Houser of Hays, Trever (Kaelyn) Houser of
Plainville, and Brianna (Dylan) Bloom of Wamego, KS; great-grandchildren,
Jackson Norton and Corbyn Marquess; and step-great-grandchildren: Brooks
Houser, Cole Anderson, and Cailyn Houser.

She is
preceded in death by her parents; husband; stillborn sister; infant brother
Erwin; sister, Maxine Zaltosky; and nephews, Craig and Ricky Zaltosky.

Church in Plainville. Burial will follow at the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation

Lucille Marjorie Prater

Delores Kerbaugh, 86 of Hill City, Kansas passed away at Dawson Place May
30, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.&nbsp; Delores was born December 16,
1938, in Ellis, Kansas to Adam and Anna (Flax) Geist.&nbsp; She attended grade
school in Ellis and at Prairie Home.&nbsp; Delores graduated from Hill City
High School with the class of 1957.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She married Rex Kerbaugh in Wakeeney, Kansas January 30, 1960.&nbsp;
Children quickly followed and by 1969 she was the proud mother of six
children.&nbsp; At one point Delores and Rex had four children aged three and
under!&nbsp; Rex passed away in 2019 shortly before celebrating their 60th
wedding anniversary.&nbsp; While raising their family they lived on a farm

for 30 years. &nbsp; She is still known for her vegetable soup, golden bricks
(grilled cheese sandwiches), and those awesome homemade cinnamon rolls! After
retiring Delores joined the Hospital Auxiliary - the Pink Ladies as she called
them.&nbsp; She helped with their luncheons, craft sales, and sitting at the
front desk at the hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Delores loved to do embroidery projects.&nbsp; The tablecloths, pillows,
pillowcases were given as gifts or sold at the Pink Lady craft table.&nbsp; Her
favorite items were her kitchen tea towels which she gave as gifts to all her
daughters and daughters-in-law, and every granddaughter.&nbsp; Even a grandson
requested a set when he got his own apartment which pleased
her.&nbsp;&nbsp;When stitching became difficult for her to do, she enjoyed
doing jigsaw puzzles which Anita made sure she had a supply to do.&nbsp; Only
300 pieces and you only did them once!&nbsp; She also enjoyed painting on her
tablet.

Delores moved into Dawson in November of 2024 right before Thanksgiving
when she could no longer be at home by herself with health issues.&nbsp; She
loved her time at Dawson.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed her friendship with
Doris Coddington. They spent time together watching her big screen TV and
visiting.&nbsp; You could hear them cheering on their Chiefs, KU Jayhawks, and
Royals or singing with Dannie O’Donnell.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rex; one son
Bernard; two infant great grandsons; and one sister Janet Sporing.&nbsp; She is
survived by five children: Kathy (Ross) Van Pelt of Salina, Kansas; Kenneth
(Geralynn) of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Karen (Tim) Pfeifer of Shawnee, Kansas; James
(Anita) of Hill City, KS; and Tracey (Tony) Herman of rural Hill City;
daughter-in-law Bonnie Kerbaugh; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with
number 13 due in July.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sisters Elaine Werth
of Wakenney, Kansas; Frieda Werth of Wichita, Kansas; brothers, Norman Geist
and Don Geist both of Wakeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; Delores’s love for her family and
her deep faith will be the things we remember and cherish.

A wake will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church, Hill City, Kansas at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service is Friday, June
6, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with burial
following in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Children quickly followed and by 1969 she was the proud mother of six
children.&nbsp; At one point Delores and Rex had four children aged three and
under!&nbsp; Rex passed away in 2019 shortly before celebrating their 60th
wedding anniversary.&nbsp; While raising their family they lived on a farm

Alma Jean Keller, 97, of Denver,
Colorado and former Russell, Kansas, resident died on Saturday, December 21,
2024, at the Woodland Estates Assisted Living in Denver.

Jean was born on January 22, 1927,
in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Clara (Koehler) Rostocil.&nbsp; She grew up on the family farm near Stockton,
Kansas and graduated from Stockton High School.&nbsp;
After high school she graduated with a bachelor's degree of education
from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She was
united in marriage to Paul Keller on December 30, 1954, in Russell,
Kansas.&nbsp; She worked as a Home Economics
teacher and Para for 47 years in Russell with the USD 407 School District.&nbsp; From this union Jean and Paul were blessed
with a daughter Dea Ann.&nbsp; She was a
longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Russell.&nbsp; She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma,
Russell County Fair Board, Round Robin, Russell Garden Club.&nbsp; She was a very proud supporter and campaign
worker for Bob Dole.&nbsp; She enjoyed making
quilts, gardening, playing bridge, reading and researching family history.&nbsp; 

Surviving family include her
daughter Dea Ann Roark and husband Clay of Denver, Colorado; 3 grandchildren
Brooke Woodward (Brett), Anna Madsen (David) and Andrew Friesen and 6 great
grandchildren Mindzie, Scarlett, Raef, Sydney, Sienna and Alexzy.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and

Church, Grinnell. They loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
Charlie could often be found driving around town and the surrounding area. This
was his way of keeping in touch with people. He was very community oriented and
enjoyed taking part in the Grinnell After Harvest Fest, golfing at the Cow
Paddy Golf Course, working with the local veterans’ groups and caring for the
Immaculate Conception Cemetery.&nbsp;

Charlie
was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anita and siblings, Frank, John,
Loyola Moos, Mildred Thummel, Floralee Rumback, Edwin, Bernard, Aloysius,

Charles Henry Huelsmann

Keith R. Goetz, age 75, passed away peacefully on May
31, 2025, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. Born on November 1,
1949, in Quinter, Kansas, Keith was the son of Wilbert and Irene (Lipp) Goetz.
He graduated from Park High School in 1967 and later answered the call to serve
his country as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War — a
role he was proud of for the rest of his life.

Keith was, through and through, a good ol’ Western Kansas
farm boy — the kind of man whose hands told a story of hard work, and whose
heart held fast to home, family, and tradition. A proud dairy farmer, Keith
found purpose and peace in the daily rhythm of milking cows and tending to the
land. It wasn’t just a job to him — it was a way of life, and he loved it
dearly.

He was a loyal member of the Grinnell VFW, and he often said
with a grin, “When I get to heaven, I can’t wait to play cards with Ray and
Wilbert.” He meant it. Keith loved playing cards — any card game, really — and
he was as sharp with a deck as he was with a Sudoku puzzle. His mind stayed
sharp, and his competitive spirit never dulled.

A true collector at heart, Keith amassed a legendary library
of VHS tapes and VCRs, favoring classic Westerns and comedies. He loved
unwinding with old favorites like Bonanza and Gunsmoke, and the
glow of a TV was often a backdrop to his evenings.

He was an avid sports fan — cheering on the Kansas City
Chiefs, K-State, and KU with loyal enthusiasm. Though he claimed not to care
for Nebraska sports, he talked about them often enough to raise a few eyebrows
and more than a few laughs.

Keith had a deep love for the land. He had a knack for
reading a field and was a regular at land auctions, often adding acres to his
holdings with the quiet confidence of a man who knew what he was doing. Fishing
was a passion he rarely had time for, but that didn’t stop him from practicing
his casts across the lawn with a nut tied to his line. He loved baseball in his
younger years and treasured horseback rides across the pastures when life
allowed.

Above all else, Keith will be remembered for his humble
spirit, his sense of humor, his love of the simple things, and his deep
devotion to his family, his faith, and his roots.

Keith is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Don
(Janice) Goetz, Cindy (Mark) Anderson, and Caroline Goetz; his nieces and
nephews, Kelly (Chris) Larson, Jacob Anderson, Jessica Goetz, Lyndsay (Luis)
Perez, and Andrew (Lee Ann) Goetz; as well as a host of extended family and
dear friends who will feel his absence deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Irene
Goetz.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main St., Quinter, with

Lee Allan Dellett, 87, Rush Center,
Kansas, died May 29, 2025 at The Good Samaritan Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born September 27, 1937, at Rush
Center, the son of Harold and Edna Dellett.&nbsp;


A lifelong resident of Rush Center, he
attended Rush Center Grade School and graduated from LaCrosse High School in
1955.&nbsp; Following graduation, he worked in
the oil fields for one year.&nbsp; Lee joined
the Army in 1957 and served until 1959.&nbsp;
Upon returning to the States, he was employed by the Farmer’s Coop until
his retirement 43 years later.

Lee married Marvel Krug on September 7,
1959, in Rush Center.&nbsp; To this union they were blessed with
three children.&nbsp; Lee was a lifetime
member of Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, where he served on various
committees.&nbsp; Lee was known for his sense
of humor and never met a stranger.&nbsp; Lee
was always available to help his friends and family whenever needed.

Lee is survived by his wife, Marvel, of
the home; one daughter Lesa Reifschneider and husband Tom of
Rush Center; two sons Gregg Dellett and husband Tim of Wichita and Jason
Dellett and wife Jessica of LaCrosse; three grandchildren Eric Reifschneider,
Hannah Dellett, Carson Dellett and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father,

Lee Allan Dellett

Phyllis Dee Wright, 88, of Alexander,
Kansas, passed on May 30, 2025, in Chanute, Ks. She was born March 9, 1937, to
Etta (Williams) and John Seltmann. &nbsp;A
graduate of Alexander High School’s class of 1955, Phyllis married her high
school sweetheart, Loren Wright on September 4 of the same year. Together, they
raised three children, Robin, Wanda and Bradley. 

Phyllis and Loren lived in
Hoisington after marriage for a short time before they returned to Alexander
when Loren started farming and Phyllis became a dedicated farmer’s
wife, embracing all that role entailed.
Her life’s work was on the
farm as she was an integral part of making their farming operation successful.
Her days entailed raising
their children, driving tractor, pulling anhydrous tanks, checking cattle,
providing meals, and other jobs as needed, as well as business manager
and bookkeeper. 

Outside their work on the
farm, Phyllis and Loren enjoyed traveling, often to Mexico and Panama. They
were members of the EAA, Experimental Aviation Association, Great Bend, and
enjoyed attending meetings and hosting at the farm. They even flew their
private plane to Alaska with this group. 

Phyllis was preceded in death
by her husband Loren and children Robin Misegadis and Bradley Wright.

She is survived by her daughter,
&nbsp;Wanda (John) Gard, son-in-law, Todd
Misegadis; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Misegadis, Jarren (Meredith) Gard
and Taylor (Devon) Crabree; great-grandchildren, Chellsea, Hailey, Emilia,
Lennox, Walker, Watson, Wells with another on the way; as well as two great-great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be from
9:30-10:30a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Janousek Funeral Home, 719 Pine St.,
La Crosse, KS 67548.

Graveside services will be
11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5 at Belle Prairie Cemetery, Aleander, Kansas.

Sheila Sue Teal, 75, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away at home
on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.&nbsp; She was
born on November 4, 1949 in Hays, Kansas to Clarence and Winifred (Rigby) Davis.&nbsp; She was a proud graduate of Hays High School
and Fort Hays State University, where she earned a BS degree in Library
Science.&nbsp; Later, she pursued further
education, obtaining a Mini Masters from the University of Missouri Kansas
City.&nbsp; Sheila was married twice, first to
Jan Weilert in Hays, Kansas, and later to Larry Teal in Wichita, Kansas.

Sheila spent 31 years of her career at Wolf Creek Nuclear
Operating Corporation, where she worked in various roles, ultimately becoming
the Supervisor of the Management Training Program.&nbsp; Throughout her life, Sheila called Hays,
Andover, and Olathe, Kansas, home.&nbsp; In
her spare time, she loved to stay active, enjoying exercise, tennis, shopping,
boating, and travel.&nbsp; She deeply
cherished her time spent with family and friends.&nbsp; Sheila will be remembered for her warmth,
kindness, and the love she shared with those around her.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Teal, children, Annette
(Andrew) Warburton of Murrieta, CA and Christopher (Amme) Weilert of Edmond,
OK, five grandchildren, Dominic Richmond, Jonathan Warburton, Flynn Weilert,
Crew Weilert, and Golden Weilert, and a sister, Patricia (Les) Morgan of
Topeka.

A celebration of life will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, June

Ernest “Ernie”
Adair Kroeger, age 91 of Hays, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at
Via Christi Village. He was born on October 4, 1933, in Ellis, Kansas to Katie
(Gashler) and Charles Kroeger. Ernest graduated from Ellis High School and on
August 21, 1954, he married Darlene Kroeger in St. Mary’s Church in Ellis.

Ernie’s career
included Ogallah and Penokee Co-op, owner of Ernie’s Pro Hardware, Enterprise,
American Electric and St. John’s Rest Home. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army,
an honorary Life Member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and a
4th Degree member of the Bishop Cunningham Assembly and did
missionary work at Saint Paul's church in Crown Point, New Mexico. Ernie
enjoyed watching Fort Hays basketball as a season ticket holder. He was an avid
puzzler, auction goer, and volunteered when needed.

Ernie is
survived by three daughters, Lynette Wasinger and husband Jerry of Hays,
LouWayne Davidson and husband Rick of Hays and Lori Newell and husband Galen of
Wichita. Grandchildren, Joel Wasinger and Blake Wasinger and wife Teresa, Ben,
Brett and Bryce Davidson, Chris Newell and wife Kara and Nicole Mannion and
husband Alex as well as his great grandchildren, Maddison and Matthew Wasinger,
Owen, Sadie, Kennedy and Hayden Newell, Brayden, Hadley and Avery Mannion.

He was preceded
in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and one sister.

Mass of
Christian burial will be Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas
of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 East 13th Street Hays, Kansas 67601. Recitation
of the Rosary will be at 10:00 AM prior to services at the church.&nbsp;

Phyllis Ann Lewis, 91, long-time
resident of Hill City, Kansas, died Wednesday May 21, 2025, at the Good
Samaritan Society, Hays, Kansas. She was born December 24, 1933, in Hays to
Henry M. and Fedora M. (Hamel) Berland.

Phyllis graduated from high school
in Palco, Kansas in 1951 and went on to earn a degree in Home Economics from
Fort Hays State College in 1955.

Phyllis married Harold V. Lewis
July 16, 1955, in Zurich, Kansas. Together they raised three children: Susan
Lorenzen, Mary Kay Davignon, and Steven Lewis. She was a proud and loving
grandmother to her six grandchildren: Sarah (Lorenzen) Kinney, Heather (Lorenzen)
Adams, Blake Davignon, Abby (Davignon) Mills, Cody Lewis, and Mackenzie (Lewis)
McCoy, and her 17 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis approached every role in
her life with enthusiasm and excellence. She worked as a bookkeeper for the
family business, Lewis Motor Company in Hill City, for many years. Alongside
two dear friends, she also co-founded The Flower Cottage, a local shop that
showcased her keen eye for design and style. A gifted seamstress, Phyllis
generously shared her talent by mentoring young people through 4-H and helping
create costumes for school and community theater productions. She inspired many
with her hands-on approach to teaching and her passion for creativity. Her
artistic flair extended to painting, and her work was often displayed in the
homes of family and friends. Phyllis also served as a substitute teacher at
local schools, touching the lives of countless students. She was known for her
warm hospitality, incredible cooking, and love of entertaining. She cherished
time spent with friends, especially over coffee or a game of Bridge, and she
was actively involved in local clubs and organizations. 

A devout member of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hill City, Phyllis was always ready to lend a
helping hand to those in need.

Phyllis is survived by her
children: Susan Lorenzen and husband Larry, Anita, Iowa: Mary Kay Davignon and
husband, Mike of Bogue; and Steven Lewis and wife, Carey, of Hays; as well as
her six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by
her parents, her brother, Leroy Berland, of Hays; two sisters, Patricia Lietz,
of Wichita, and Diane Tesley-Saindon, of Phillipsburg, and a grandson, Matthew
Lorenzen.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30
a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church,
Hill City, Kansas with burial following at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Wakeeney,

Mae Allen, 95, of Edmond, OK, passed away surrounded by loved ones, on May 27,
2025, at The Veraden Senior Living Center in Edmond, OK.

She
was born on May 24, 1930, in Stockton, Kansas, to Carl and Hazel (Colburn)
Bray.&nbsp; Donna grew up in Stockton and
married Kenneth Carlton Wente, on April 16, 1950.&nbsp; Together, they owned and operated the Prairie
View Cabin Courts in Hill City, KS, and raised four boys: Ronald, Brent, Gary, and
Ken.&nbsp; After the passing of her husband,
she married Bernard Allen on April 14, 1976, and grew her family with two stepsons:
Roger and Lew Allen.

Donna’s
life was dedicated to her family and friends.&nbsp;
She worked many jobs to support her family, but she was best known for
her career as the Board Secretary and Treasurer at the Graham County USD 281
office.&nbsp; She loved traveling and was able
to visit 49 of the 50 states, missing only Alaska.&nbsp; She and Bernard loved the outdoors and spent
many summers enjoying the San De Cristo Mountain range in Southern
Colorado.&nbsp; After retiring, they moved
from Hill City to Bella Vista, Arkansas, to enjoy life in the Ozark mountains.&nbsp; Donna was always focused on family and made
it a point to get her four boys and their families together at least
annually.&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Donna
is survived by her children, Ronald (Debra) Wente of Hays, KS, Brent (Christina)
Wente of Bonner Springs, KS, Gary (Connie) Wente of San Saba, TX, Ken (Kathy)
Wente of Cudjoe Key, FL, step sons Roger (Pam) Allen of Salina, KS, and Lew (Jo
Beth) Allen of Athens, GA; ten grandchildren: Chris (Valerie) Wente, Jeff
(Jennie) Wente, Shawn Wente, Nicholas Wente, Cody (Kayla) Wente, Rick (Tracy)
Wente, Lisa (Harold) Jergenson, Garin (Amanda) Wente, Tanner (Amy) Wente, and Jessie
(Cole) Clark; three step grandchildren, Carrie, Paul (Tonya), Rachel; thirteen
great grandchildren: Grace, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Paige, Ava, Austin, Ashlyn, Brenna,
Paxton, Archer, Dierks, Livie, and Bonnie Bray; and several step great
grandchildren.

She
was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hazel; husbands Kenneth Wente
and Bernard Allen; brothers Robert and William; sisters, Marie McCue, Beulah
Koppes and Loras; two step grandsons, Robbie Allen and Luke Allen.

Donna
will be truly missed by all.&nbsp; She touched
so many lives, and her memories will never be forgotten.

A
service in her honor will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:30 am at the
Stinemetz Funeral Home in Hill City, KS with burial to immediately follow at
the Stockton Cemetery.

Donna Mae Allen

Kathleen
Margaret O’Neal was born the middle child of John Henry and Artie Holmwood
(Smith) Faber on October 13, 1931, on a farm north of Campbell, Nebraska. She
was baptized June 1, 1932. When she was small, the family moved to a farm in
Rawlins County, Kansas, where she grew up. She loved everything about the farm,
especially “the smell of fresh turned earth and just plain getting dusty, dirty
clear up to your elbows”. 

She
went to Pleasant View District 56 Rawlins County country school through 8th
grade and then attended Colby Community High School, boarding in town with the
Imhof family.

Kathleen
married James Smith in 1950 and to this union were born Michael (Mike), Amy,
and Nancy. They divorced.

She
married Donald (Joe) O’Neal March 24, 1966. To this union were born Joseph
(L.J.), Heidi and John B. 

Family
and friends were very dear to her. She enjoyed farming, square dancing, polkas,
bowling, embroidery and crochet handiwork, crafts, musicals, yard work,
gardening, and thinking outside the box to solve problems. She loved a good
joke and was a bit of a prankster. She was also open to adventure-letting the
kids hatch chicks, raise ducks, and even let John B build a half-pipe for
skateboarding in the yard. Silly songs and sayings were frequently heard and of
course plenty of snacks.

She
started a tradition of having Mexican food at Christmas, followed by a treasure
hunt and buckets of homemade cookies for everyone to take home. Another
tradition she started was giving bear hugs to the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren which were enjoyed up until her final days.

Going
to church and Bible study were important to her. She had a strong faith and saw
that her children were raised in the church also. She was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church and LWML.

Her
father was involved in the beginning of the Bird City Threshing Machine Show
and the family has continued the legacy. Kathleen was Threshing Machine Show
Queen in 2010.

Kathleen
and husband Joe owned the J K Texaco gas station (first gas station on the
interstate exit 54) and the North Village Laundromat. In addition, she sold
Watkins products, was Post Master at the Levant post office and had other
various employments in the community.

She
is survived by three children, Nancy Arendt, L.J. (Melanie) O’Neal and Heidi
(Greg) Haffner; daughter-in-law Mary Smith; seven grandchildren, Matt
(Christina) Smith, Marcy (Randall) Neff, Kathleen Arendt, Lacy (Skyler) Brogan,
Traci (Justin) Soukup, Alex (Carson) McKenna and Andrew Haffner; 15
great-grandchildren, and step-children Steve O’Neal and Michelle Walsh.

She
was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jack; sister Dinah; husband Joe;
sons, Mike and John B; infant daughter Amy; son-in-law Marlin Arendt; and
grandson Christopher Arendt. 

When
asked an important lesson learned, she said “Don’t need everything this world
seems to think we need to be happy. If we just would care about people and not
“stuff” and know this is really not our home. We are just passing through.
We’re caretakers for God’s creation.”

“See
you around” with a circular motion was often her goodbye.

There
will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at Trinity
Lutheran Church, Colby. Following the service the family will receive friends
from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Colby American Legion with burial in the Faber

Kathleen Margaret O’Neal

Marsha
Ann Haines, 78, of Stockton, KS, passed away on May 26, 2025, at the Solomon
Valley Manor in Stockton. She was born on January 8, 1947, to Russell and Leta
(Veverka) Bouchey in Hays, KS. 

Marsha grew
up in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School in 1965. She continued
her education at Kansas State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in
Political Science, and later completed a master’s degree in Speech Pathology at
Fort Hays State University.

On
December 27, 1969, Marsha married the love of her life, Richard Lee “Tom”
Haines, at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Together they raised three
daughters, and her greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother, and
grandmother.

Marsha
dedicated her professional life to helping others as a speech pathologist,
serving students in the Stockton, Phillipsburg, and Palco school districts. She
had a kind and compassionate heart, always focused on the well-being of those
around her.

A woman
of many interests, Marsha loved quilting, knitting, card games, cooking, reading,
and cheering on her daughters and local athletes at community sports events.
She had a deep love for her family and especially cherished her time with her
grandchildren.

She was a
faithful member of the Stockton United Methodist Church and actively involved
in numerous organizations, including P.E.O., the VFW Auxiliary, FCE, and
4-H—both as a member in her youth and later as a dedicated leader for her
children.

Marsha is
survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Haines of Stockton; her
daughters: Richelle Haines of Olathe, KS, Marissa (Brett) Shelton of Homewood,
IL, and Melanie Haines (Larry Wilson) of Neosho, MO; and five cherished
grandchildren: Violet Wilson, Veverka Shelton, Ellie Wilson, Emmett Wilson, and
Ellora Shelton.

She was
preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Leta Bouchey.

A Funeral
Service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Stockton
Church of Restoration in Stockton. Burial will follow at the Stockton Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 4-8PM with the family receiving friends 6-7PM at
the funeral home in Stockton.

Coleen Dinkel, age 69 of Ellis, Kansas died Sunday, May 25, 2025
at the Good Samaritan Society - Ellis.

Coleen was born October 8,
1955, in Wakeeney, Kansas to Frank Schuster and Lorena (Malson) Schuster. She
graduated from Trego Community High School in 1973 and was united in marriage
to Fred Dinkel July 28, 1973.

Coleen stayed home and raised her three beautiful children. She
enjoyed cooking, cross stitching, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and
gambling, but most of all, spending time with her family. Coleen was also a
volunteer at the Ellis Thrift Store for over 10 years.

She is survived by her husband of almost 52 years; her children;
Tim (Bobbie) Dinkel; Jeff (Jessica) Dinkel, and Michelle (Matt) Murray, all of
Goodland, Kansas; grandchildren, James Dinkel, Kennedy Linin (Joel), Braden

Lynnette
“Lynnie” Eileen Bishop-Chard passed away on May 15, 2025, at her home in Palco,
KS, at the age of 68. She was born on July 12, 1956, to Carl A. and Lois Ruth
(Abitz) Bishop in Crete, Nebraska. She was married on March 11, 2000, to Randy
Lee Chard in Hill City, Kansas. 

She
was born in Crete, Nebraska and raised in Salina, Kansas. Lynnie graduated from
Salina South High School in 1974. She later became a proud and active member of
the Lutheran Association in Hill City, Kansas, where she found fellowship and
strength in her faith.

Lynnie
had a compassionate heart and dedicated much of her life to caring for others.
She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), an x-ray technician, and
served as the manager of Cookies Liquor—where she brought her strong work
ethic, humor, and warmth to all who knew her.

A
lover of animals and the simple joys in life, Lynnie found happiness in the
company of black and white cows, her beloved dogs and cats, and in tending her
garden. She enjoyed fishing on quiet afternoons and sharing drinks and laughter
with her friends.

Lynnie’s
generous spirit, love for nature, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all
who had the pleasure of knowing her.

survived by her husband, Randy Chard, of Palco, Kansas; daughter, Shawna Scates,
of Salina, Kansas; step-daughter, Billie Covington, of Phillipsburg, Kansas; sister,

Lynnette 'Lynnie' Eileen Bishop-Chard

Sister Mary Catherine Grief, baptized Mary Martha,
and formerly known as Sister Catherine Labouré,
died peacefully May 19, 2025, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, WI.

Mary Martha was born in Oak Park, IL, on September
5, 1931, to Ernest Leo and Evelyn Ann Mieling Grief.&nbsp; From an early age, she felt a call to be a
religious sister. Meeting the Sisters of St. Agnes while attending Immaculate
Conception High School in Elmhurst, IL, deepened her desire to pursue religious
life. In September 1950, one year after her high school graduation, Mary Martha
entered St. Agnes Convent.&nbsp; She made her
first profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes as Sister
Catherine Labouré on August 15, 1953, in Fond
du Lac, WI. Sister legally changed her name to Mary Catherine years later,
combining her given and religious names.

Throughout her years in ministry, Sister Mary
Catherine lived in a variety of settings, caring for the physical, social, and
spiritual needs of people as a registered nurse, as a nursing instructor, and
as a pastoral minister. Sister Mary Catherine received a BS in Nursing and
Nursing Education from Marian College, Fond du Lac, WI. She earned her MS in
Nursing from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. She began her healing
ministry by serving as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac
(1956–1961). In 1961 she became a nursing instructor at St. Agnes School of
Nursing, Fond du Lac, and continued in this role at Marian College, Fond du Lac
(1964–1969). In 1969, Sister moved to Kansas to serve as the Director of the
LPN Program, Instructor of Maternal and Infant Health, and Nurse Educator at
Colby Community College (1969–1978). 

Following her years in Colby, she spent time in

drawn from active nursing to serve the spiritual needs of children, youth, and
adults. In 1981, she accepted the position as youth minister at Sacred Heart
Parish in Colby, KS. For the next thirty years she found great joy as a
pastoral associate, social worker and hospice care provider in parishes,
prisons, and social service agencies in Kansas, North Carolina, and Florida.
Beloved among these experiences, were the seventeen years she served as
Coordinator of Ministry to the Sick and Homebound at St. Joseph Parish, Hays, KS.&nbsp;

Sister Mary Catherine returned to Fond du Lac in
2011, lived at the CSA motherhouse, and volunteered at St. Francis Home. In
April 2019, Sister joined the CSA retirement community at Nazareth Court and
Center, Fond du Lac. As her health declined, she became a resident of St.
Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her death. 

Sister Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her
parents, her sister Madeline Ann Grief, and her beloved brother and
sister-in-law Leo and Maris Grief.

Sister is survived by her nieces, nephews, their
families, and by the Sisters of St. Agnes with whom she lived, prayed, and
ministered.

Services for Sister Mary Catherine will be held on
Friday, May 30, 2025.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30
p.m. at Nazareth Court and Center, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac, WI. 

The Liturgy of Christian
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond
du Lac, WI, with Fr. Thomas Zelinski, OFM Cap., presiding. Burial will take
place at St. Joseph Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI, at a time to be
determined following cremation.

and formerly known as Sister Catherine Labouré,
died peacefully May 19, 2025, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, WI.Mary Martha was born in Oak Park, IL, on September
5, 1931, to Ernest Leo and Evelyn Ann Mieling Grief.&nbsp; From an early age, she felt a call to be a
religious sister. Meeting the Sisters of St. Agnes while attending Immaculate
Conception High School in Elmhurst, IL, deepened her desire to pursue religious
life. In September 1950, one year after her high school graduation, Mary Martha
entered St. Agnes Convent.&nbsp; She made her
first profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes as Sister
Catherine Labouré on August 15, 1953, in Fond
du Lac, WI. Sister legally changed her name to Mary Catherine years later,
combining her given and religious names.Throughout her years in ministry, Sister Mary
Catherine lived in a variety of settings, caring for the physical, social, and
spiritual needs of people as a registered nurse, as a nursing instructor, and
as a pastoral minister. Sister Mary Catherine received a BS in Nursing and
Nursing Education from Marian College, Fond du Lac, WI. She earned her MS in
Nursing from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. She began her healing
ministry by serving as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac
(1956–1961). In 1961 she became a nursing instructor at St. Agnes School of
Nursing, Fond du Lac, and continued in this role at Marian College, Fond du Lac
(1964–1969). In 1969, Sister moved to Kansas to serve as the Director of the
LPN Program, Instructor of Maternal and Infant Health, and Nurse Educator at
Colby Community College (1969–1978). Following her years in Colby, she spent time in
