Michael Winters- Kensington&nbsp;(53)&nbsp;

Michael Winters went to be with his beloved mother on November&nbsp;13th, 2025,&nbsp;at Hays Med Center with his sisters&nbsp;by his side. He was born August 7th, 1972,&nbsp;to William (Bill) and Ruth Winters in Vernal Utah. 

He grew up in Stockton where he&nbsp;meet&nbsp;the mother of his children and closest and dearest friend, Melanie&nbsp;Romey. Michael worked as the General Manger for the McDonald’s and Sonic all of Norton. He retired in 2020 after a&nbsp;fourth&nbsp;of July firework accident, that had&nbsp;burned&nbsp;most of his upper body. 

He is survived by Melanie and their children,&nbsp;Elijah Judd, Rhiannon Kathleen, and Adriana Ruth Winters all&nbsp;of&nbsp;Norton. 

His siblings&nbsp;Correna&nbsp;(Ray)&nbsp;Swaney, Robert (Kim) Winters all of Stockton. Angela (Mike Townley) Kuhlmann of&nbsp;Woodston, and his twin sister&nbsp;only five minutes younger Michelle (Michael)&nbsp;Williams&nbsp;of&nbsp;Watonga&nbsp;Oklahoma. 

He is&nbsp;proceeded&nbsp;in death by his parents, and oldest nephew Jesse&nbsp;Swaney&nbsp;and youngest niece Jackie Royer Kuhlmann. 

A Celebration of Life&nbsp;will be held later in Stockton.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rodney Dean Graber, 80, of Dallas,
Texas, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025,&nbsp;surrounded by his
family.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on May 3, 1945. Son of
Alvin and Elizabeth Graber, he grew up with his three sisters and a lifelong
curiosity about how things worked. Rodney loved using his hands to tinker,
invent, and bring his ideas to life, which nurtured his passion for
woodworking. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed running track and playing
basketball during his school years.

Rodney married Ann (Schmidtberger) on August 22, 1970, and together they had
three daughters.&nbsp;He spent most of his life working as a general contractor
and master carpenter in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp;
A talented craftsman, he was rarely without a project in progress. If something
could be&nbsp;built, Rodney would find a way to make it happen. He generously
shared his gifts with others, helping
turn countless dreams into reality.

Rodney’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He retired and moved to Dallas,
Texas, in 2015,&nbsp;to be near his children and grandchildren. “Papa” loved
being involved in their everyday lives and
supporting their activities. He also enjoyed carpentry, fishing, cooking,
playing cards,&nbsp;cheering on the KU Jayhawks, and never missing an
opportunity to make others laugh.&nbsp;He will forever be remembered for his
quick sense of humor, zest for life, and his big heart.

Rodney is survived by his children, Kristen Akers (William); Allison Cofer
(Brett); Rochelle&nbsp;Mayfield (Tim); his sister, Lavonne Dyck (Harvey); the
children’s mother, Ann Graber; and his seven grandchildren, Caden; Madeleine;
Lauren; Noah; Amanda; Michael; and Benjamin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Elizabeth Graber; and his
sisters, Lorene Kaufman and husband, Lawrence; and Lilah Bohn and husband,
Allen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at

Rosemary 'Rosie' Pfeifer, age 86, of Ellis passed away
peacefully on November 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on
November 11, 1939, in rural Ellis County to Fidelis and Adeline (Befort) Engel.
Rosemary graduated from Girls Catholic High in 1957.

On September 28, 1957, Rosemary married Ernest Pfeifer, Sr. in
Munjor, Kansas at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Together they
built their life raising their family on a farm north of Ellis Kansas. Ernest
preceded Rosemary in death in July 2025 after 67 years of marriage. Rosemary
was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member
of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella St. Gilbert Circle,
Ellis, Kansas.

Rosemary is survived by her six children, sons, Ernie Pfeifer, Jr.
(Sherry), David Pfeifer (LuAnn), Jerry Pfeifer (Nancy), and Jim Pfeifer (Linda)
all of Ellis, Kansas and daughters, Christine Gist (Mike), Hays, Kansas and
Sandy Rome (James), Ellis, Kansas. Twelve grandchildren, Ernest Pfeifer,
III&nbsp;(Ann), Lynn Leiker (Landon), Jessica Klaus (Joe), Sarah Gist, Danielle
Flinn (Todd, Dylan Pfeifer, (friend, Brandi), Nicole Brown (Mitch), Scott
Pfeifer (fiancé, Hailey), Cole Pfeifer (Lanie), Lexie Hawkins (Avery), Derek
Pfeifer (Brooklyn), and Alyssa Rome; sixteen great-grandchildren; and sisters,
Therese Haas (Tom) and Sandy Wilson (Gary) both of Hays, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidelis and Adeline
Engel, sisters, Dorothy Mermis, Ruby Remy, Lorene (Renie) Kuhn, Benita (Petie)
Rohr, brother, Fidelis Engel Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at
10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 703 Monroe St., Ellis, Kansas. The

Marian Joyce Kleweno, 81,
passed away on November 13, 2025 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on November 19, 1943 in
Catherine, Kansas the daughter of Sam and Frieda (Meis) Delaney.

Marian was a homemaker. She
attended Brown Mackey College in 1961-1962. She also worked as the Postmaster
and at the ASCS office. She married Larry Kleweno on March 6, 1965, in Bazine,
Kansas. He passed away on October 14, 2020.

Survivors include her daughter,
Laura Kleweno of Ness City; son, Linn (Jennifer) Kleweno of Bazine; brother,
Dean Delaney of Ness City; sister-in-law, Dianne Delaney of Ness City; 2 granddaughters,
Taylor (Jarrett) Simon and Samantha Kleweno.&nbsp;
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Neal

Edna Marie Wolf-Billinger, 94, Hays, died Thursday, November
13, 2025 at HaysMed.

She was born November 4, 1931 on the family farm near
Munjor, the daughter of Alvis and Mary (Unrein) Jacobs.&nbsp; On August 22, 1950, she was united in
marriage to Marcellus Wolf in LaCrosse, and they celebrated 43 years of
marriage before he preceded in death on December 20, 1993.&nbsp; She then married Peter J. 'Pete' Billinger,
Jr. on April 12, 1996, in Russell, and they celebrated 28 years of marriage
before he preceded her in death on October 16, 2024.

Edna was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church,
loved doing various crafts including pottery, painting, and crocheting, and she
was a talented seamstress.&nbsp; She enjoyed bowling,
Bingo, and playing cards, but most of all, she was a wonderful grandma who
loved her family. 

Survivors include two sons Wesley Wolf and wife Carolyn of
Yoder and Terry Wolf of Antonino, her daughter Linda Thyfault of Hays, her
daughter-in-law Betty Wolf of Hays, two brothers Alvis Jacobs, Jr. and wife
Renee of Clovis, NM and Richard Wolf and wife Karleen of Russell, seven
grandchildren Katrina Schmidt (Eric), John Wolf (Wendy), Michelle Brannam
(Dustin), Christina Byler (Dustin), Jessica Schmeidler (Austin), Robin Hart
(Josh), and Renee Wolf (Chris Cole), 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands
Marcellus and Pete, her son Rick Wolf, her daughter-in-law Karen Wolf, one
brother Cecil Jacobs, three sisters, Alverna Kisner, Bernida Kisner, and
Delorse Leiker, and her grandson Kristopher Thyfault.

Edna Marie Wolf-Billinger

Herbert Henry 'Herb' Hachmeister,
93, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Rooks
County Hospital in Plainville, Kansas.&nbsp; 

Herb was born June 25, 1932 on
the family farm north of Natoma, Kansas.&nbsp;
He was one of six children born to Ferdinand W. and Bonita (Richards)
Hachmeister.&nbsp; He grew up in Natoma and
graduated from Natoma High School in 1952.

Herb was united in marriage to
JoAnn Bernritter on April 11, 1963.&nbsp; This
union was blessed with three children; Charlotte, Carol and Kathleen.&nbsp; They made their home in Natoma.&nbsp; JoAnn preceded him in death on November 16,
1987.&nbsp; Later in life, Herb was united in
marriage to Peggy Cooper on February 14, 1993.&nbsp;
They made their home in Natoma.&nbsp;
Peggy preceded him in death on December 14, 2011.

Herb
was a Farmer and Rancher in the Natoma area all of his life.&nbsp; He was also known for his ability to Sale
anything to anybody.&nbsp; He also raised
Exotic Animals for many years and loved sharing them with his family and the
local community.&nbsp; He was a lifetime
member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Natoma.&nbsp;
He served on the Church as a Trustee and Elder.&nbsp; He was a member of the Natoma City Council,
Township Board, Cemetery Board for the Lutheran Cemetery and was apart of the
Hereford Association Board.&nbsp; He enjoyed
supporting the US Veterans anytime he could, visiting the local elderly and
sick and helping anyone who needed help without hesitation.&nbsp; He was a caring man that loved bringing
smiles to his family and friends.

Herb’s

93, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Rooks
County Hospital in Plainville, Kansas.&nbsp; Herb was born June 25, 1932 on
the family farm north of Natoma, Kansas.&nbsp;
He was one of six children born to Ferdinand W. and Bonita (Richards)
Hachmeister.&nbsp; He grew up in Natoma and
graduated from Natoma High School in 1952.Herb was united in marriage to
JoAnn Bernritter on April 11, 1963.&nbsp; This
union was blessed with three children; Charlotte, Carol and Kathleen.&nbsp; They made their home in Natoma.&nbsp; JoAnn preceded him in death on November 16,
1987.&nbsp; Later in life, Herb was united in
marriage to Peggy Cooper on February 14, 1993.&nbsp;
They made their home in Natoma.&nbsp;
Peggy preceded him in death on December 14, 2011.Herb
was a Farmer and Rancher in the Natoma area all of his life.&nbsp; He was also known for his ability to Sale
anything to anybody.&nbsp; He also raised
Exotic Animals for many years and loved sharing them with his family and the
local community.&nbsp; He was a lifetime
member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Natoma.&nbsp;
He served on the Church as a Trustee and Elder.&nbsp; He was a member of the Natoma City Council,
Township Board, Cemetery Board for the Lutheran Cemetery and was apart of the
Hereford Association Board.&nbsp; He enjoyed
supporting the US Veterans anytime he could, visiting the local elderly and
sick and helping anyone who needed help without hesitation.&nbsp; He was a caring man that loved bringing
smiles to his family and friends.Herb’s
surviving family includes his daughters, Charlotte Luhman (Brian) of Natoma,

Herbert 'Herb' Henry Hachmeister

Randy Koerner, 79, Hays, died Thursday, November 13, 2205 at
his home surrounded by family.

He was born December 19, 1945 in Hays, the son of Joseph A.
and Bertha (Miller) Koerner.&nbsp; He
graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in 1963 and earned his electronics
certification from Wichita Technical Institute.&nbsp;
Randy was part owner of Horizon Appliance and Video, and was an
electronics technician and appliance serviceman.&nbsp; On July 7, 1979 he was united in marriage to
Wanda Oplinger in Jewell, Kansas, and they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church,
the St. Mary’s Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984 and the Bishop
Cunningham Fourth Degree Assembly #282.&nbsp;
Randy enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair and his garage was his
happy place.&nbsp; He was always willing to
help anybody in need and he loved spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Wanda of Hays, his sons Paul
Koerner and wife Kim of Hutchinson, Mitch Koerner and wife Sheena of Parker, CO
and Mike Koerner and wife Mindy of Parker, CO, his grandchildren, Mikayla,
Ashton, Sierra, Mariah, Nora, and Thomas Koerner, two sisters-in-law, Judy
Koerner of Hays and Maria Koerner of St. Louis, MO, and numerous nieces and
nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers,
Joe, Tom, and Skip Koerner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Don Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Monday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5:30 pm until 6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30, followed by a combined Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Monday at the funeral home.

John P. Clarke II, 68, Hays, died Tuesday, November 11, 2025
at HaysMed.

He was born May 17, 1957 in Hays, the son of John P. and
Barbara Jean (Leiker) Clarke.&nbsp; He graduated from Jetmore High School in
1975 and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University
of Kansas in 1979.&nbsp; On June 5, 1982 he was united in marriage to Jayne
Einsel in Greensburg, Kansas.&nbsp; John was a Certified Public Accountant who
began his banking career in 1983 with Emprise Bank in Hays.&nbsp; He served as
EVP and CFO for the bank until 2004.&nbsp; He was also on the Emprise Bank
Board of Directors from 1990-2004.

In November 2004, John became a founding partner for Bank of
Hays and served the bank as a member of the Board of Directors and
President/CFO until his death.&nbsp; He served as a member of the Kansas
Bankers Association’s Bank Benefits Committee and served as a member of the
Board of Directors of Data Center, Inc., Hutchinson, Kansas, a full-service
core bank data processing provider to banks across the nation.&nbsp;

In 2024, John received the Nation Meyer Innovative Banker
award at the annual DCI Conference.&nbsp; He served on the Board of Directors
for the FHSU Foundation and continued to support FHSU by lending his banking
knowledge and experience as a guest speaker to many different FHSU
classes.&nbsp; He also served on the Board of Directors for Smoky Hill Country
Club.

John was an avid golfer who loved playing with his numerous
friends and family and was proud of his four hole-in-ones that he carded, one
with a broken toe.&nbsp; His ability to keep track of golf scores, handicaps,
and wagers for his group were always announced on the following tee box.&nbsp;
He was an avid KU fan, proudly owned one share of his beloved Green Bay Packers
and enjoyed playing blackjack with his dad, brothers, and his daughter.&nbsp;
John enjoyed keeping track of his weather station, was the family IT person,
and his granddaughter Rylee was his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife Jayne of Hays, daughter Paige
Clarke of Kansas City, MO, granddaughter Rylee Stewart, his father John Clarke
and wife Sabra Clarke of Ness City, his mother Barbara Clarke of Garden City,
brothers Robert 'Bob' Clarke (Diana) of Lancaster, CA, Jerry Clarke (Jane) of
Ness City, Jeff Clarke (Marjie) of Garden City, and Tad Clarke (Scott Hayes) of
Providence, RI, and numerous nieces, nephews, and golfing buddies.

He was preceded in death by niece, Danielle Clarke.

Trey E. Loftis, age 27, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on September 15, 1998 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Richard J. Loftis and Shawna Stewart McQuitty. A resident of Scott City, Kansas from 2000 to 2017, he moved to Commerce City, Colorado and worked in construction and landscaping.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include his one son - Atticus Littlehawk of Dodge City, Kansas, two daughters - Eden Loftis of Ellsworth, Minnesota, Rylee Loftis of Ellsworth, Minnesota, father - Richard Loftis of Scott City, Kansas, mother - Shawna McQuitty Wilder of Larned, Kansas, one brother - Alec Byrum of Katy, Texas, two sisters - Caitlin Robinson of Larned, Kansas, Terrin Stewart of Larned, Kansas, grandparents - Robert and Karen Blair of Scott City, Kansas, three aunts - Michelle and Travis Eggleston of Rose Hill, Kansas, Rachelle McQuitty of Texas, Janean Loftis of Great Bend, Kansas, one uncle - Ryan McQuitty of Texas, three nieces and seven nephews.

Trey E. Loftis

Donna Dee George (nee Wait) 83, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Hays Med in Hays, Kansas.

Donna was born on October 15, 1942, in Codell, Kansas, to Walter and Dorothy (John) Wait. She grew up in Natoma, Kansas, and graduated from Natoma High School.

She attended Fort Hays University and graduated with a degree in education. She met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to David Arthur George on August 8, 1964, in Natoma, Kansas. From this union, David and Donna were blessed with four children, DeeAnn, Dennis, Dustin, and Denton. Donna taught and coached in Randall, Kansas.

When David was drafted into the United States Army in 1966, she followed him to Germany until they returned stateside in 1967. Donna taught in Jewell, Kansas, until moving to Lebanon, Kansas, where she took a hiatus from teaching for a few years while raising their children. 

During these years, she also provided child care in her home. The family then moved to Beloit, Kansas, where Donna worked at a home for at-risk girls for a year. 

The next several years, they lived in Chanute, Kansas, where Donna substituted and taught sixth grade. In 1984, the family moved home to Natoma, Kansas, where Donna taught in Paradise and Natoma, teaching science and social studies until her retirement in 2005.

 She truly loved working with students and continued to substitute in local districts for many more years. Donna enjoyed reading, sewing, puzzles, and taking classes to keep her teaching certificate current and because she simply loved learning new skills. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She attended many sporting events, dance recitals, cattle shows, etc., over the years.

Surviving family include daughter DeeAnn Heaton and husband Darren of Cuba, Missouri, sons Dennis George and wife Amy of Hays, Kansas, Dustin George and wife Carmen of Natoma, Kansas and Denton George and wife Jennifer of Phillipsburg, Kansas, seven grandkids Hannah Shaw and husband Cody of Rolla, Missouri, Tyler Heaton and wife Haley of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Haley Vajnar and husband Conrad, Emily George, Avry George, and Derek George all of Hays, Kansas, Erika Edwards and husband Hayden of Elkmont, Alabama and 3 great grandkids Wyatt Shaw, Mary May Vajnar, and Leo Vajnar. Brother Lynn Wait and wife Patti Wait of Frankfort, Kansas, sisters Marilyn Beeman and husband Billy of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Deeanna Baumgartner of Junction City, Kansas, and Jackie Baumgartner of Phillipsburg, Kansas. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David George, and parents, Walter and Dorothy Wait.

Cremation was selected by the family, and a memorial service to celebrate Donna’s life will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Paradise Gymnasium in Paradise, Kansas.

Family will greet guests on the day of the funeral service. Memorials may be given to the Lions Scholarship Fund and sent to the mortuary.

Roger Pruter, 85, Hays, died Saturday, November 8, 2025 at HaysMed.

He was born September 29, 1940 in Hays, the son of Otto and Ella May (Stockton) Pruter. Roger graduated from Paradise High School with the class of 1958, then he attended college in Hutchinson for a year before transferring to Fort Hays Kansas State College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts in 1963. 

Roger managed college cafeterias in many states including Wyoming and Louisiana, worked in sales, and served in the National Guard. 

On April 26, 1964 he was united in marriage to Janet “Jan” Wickham at the Church of the Nazarene in Hays, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage. 

For 28 years, Roger and Jan lived in Colorado. Roger loved the mountains, traveling with Jan in their Airstream, and planning rallies while president of the Colorado Airstream Club. He was a member of North Oak Community Church and enjoyed growing in faith and fellowship with his Tuesday morning men’s group.

Roger had a wonderful sense of humor and was a people person who had a gift for remembering names, interests, and preferences of those whom he encountered. He sought out those in need and helped them in simple ways filled with great kindness. 

He was proud to be from Paradise, organized many town reunions, and assumed the role of community curator. Roger made many photo albums for his family, enjoyed gardening, and when losing the use of his left arm, he took on the challenge of building his own raised garden beds. Most of all, Roger loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Jan of Hays, son Wade Pruter of Wichita, daughter RaJan Pruter of Colorado Springs, CO, his sister, Nina Brewsaugh and husband Carl of Oklahoma City, OK, and three grandchildren, Caden Prescott of Colorado Springs, CO, Genna Pruter and fiancé Caden Pfeifer of Russell, and Avery Pruter of Wichita.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at North Oak Community Church with Pastor Josh Gelatt and Pastor Abraham Marintzer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time on Saturday at the church. 

Private family inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to North Oak Community Church or to Paradise Valley Grace Church.

Phillipsburg resident, Royce Ratliff, passed away on November 4, 2025, peacefully at home, at the age of 78.

Royce Eugene Ratliff was born on June 2, 1947, in Smith Center, Kansas, to his parents, Wayne and Pearl (Gutzman) Ratliff.

Royce was united in marriage to Connie (Olson) Ratliff on September 15, 1968, at the First Christian Church in Smith Center, Kansas.

Royce is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Pearl Ratliff, brothers Dean and Brian Ratliff, and sisters Diane Kern and Coleen Gale.

Survivors include wife Connie Ratliff of the home, sons Troy Ratliff of Wichita, Kansas, Travis Ratliff and wife Jennifer of Greeley, Colorado, Tracy Ratliff of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Amy Rose and husband Mike of Agra, Kansas, and Annie Russell and husband Bob of Phillipsburg, Kansas, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Richard “Rich” Rupp, 70, Buckeye, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November 7, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born November 22, 1954, in Hays, the son of Melvin and Rose Mary (Binder) Rupp. On May 29, 1982, he was united in marriage to Rose (Schoenberger) Brungardt, and they moved to Arizona in 1985. Early in life, Richard worked in the construction industry, and for 20 years, until his retirement, he worked for the Department of Corrections where he was an officer for armed medical transport.

A man of quiet strength, devotion, and unwavering love, Richard loved deeply, worked faithfully, and cherished his family above all else. He found joy in life’s everyday moments, gardening, home projects, and sharing laughter with those he loved. Richard leaves behind a legacy of love that continues to bloom in the lives of his family. He will be forever remembered and held closely in the hearts of those who deeply loved him.

Survivors include his wife Rose Rupp of Buckeye, AZ, his children Michelle Noel of Panama City, FL, Vincent Brungardt of Phoenix, AZ, and Pamela Mather (Nick) of Glendale, AZ, his grandchildren, Heather Lincoln (Jack) of Savanna, GA, Daniel Noel (fiancé Natalie) of San Antonio, TX, Ashley Noel of Panama City, FL, Brandon Brungardt (Leigh) of Fort Stewart, GA, Krystal McNealy (Devon Grulke) of Tonopah, AZ, and Nicholas Brungardt of Tolleson, AZ, his great grandchildren, Weston McNealy, Riley and Zoey Brungardt, and Kade Noel, his brothers, Joe, David, and Louie Rupp, all of Hays, and Vernon Rupp of San Antonio, TX, and his sister, Rosalie Schmeidler (Allen) of Hays.

Richard 'Rich' Rupp

Sherry Fisher, 71, of Ellis, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at HaysMed.

Sherry was born in Hays to Robert and Alma Armbrister and grew up in Ellis. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1971 and married Norbert Fisher, in 1973 at Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis.

Sherry spent over 30 years working as a case worker at the Hays SRS office, where she was known for her dedication to helping others.

She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and serving on the church council over the years. Sherry also stayed active with the Ellis High School Alumni Association.In her free time, Sherry loved to crochet, sew, and cross-stitch. 

She was a big fan of puzzles, word searches, and card games, and she was always baking something sweet for family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren—spoiling them every chance she got.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Norbert, of the home; her two daughters, Renee Fisher of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Melissa Fisher and her children Lainey, Oliver and Evie of Denver,; her brother, Rick Armbrister of Salina; and her sisters, Dixie Armbrister and Michelle Armbrister of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Melanie Armbrister.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th St., Ellis.

Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.

Sherry Fisher

Donna Steele Cooper, born March 27, 1942, in Granite, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home in Hays, Kansas.

In her 83 years, Donna touched many lives with her curiosity, pedagogy, and contagious enthusiasm for nature. She was a much cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Mike; her sons, Chris and Mark, and their respective spouses, Cathryn and Jane; her sister Ruth; and Chris and Cathryn’s daughters, Maddy and Ansley.

Donna and Mike attended high school together in Chickasha, Oklahoma, but found their love for one another during their college years. They married in 1964, moving to Hays, Kansas, in 1967, where they made a wonderful home, raising their two sons, and enjoying a long, devoted, and loving marriage.

With an always curious mind, Donna excelled at all she attempted, receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology from Oklahoma College for Women, and was later offered scholarships at Baylor University and Kansas University Medical School, ultimately choosing to pursue a master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. Throughout her subsequent teaching career, she won multiple awards, including the Kansas Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.

Donna was a highly regarded member of the Hays community, having taught biology at Hays High School for 44 years, the longest tenure of any Hays High School teacher to date. Under her skilled guidance, the girls tennis team brought the first and only State Tennis Championship to Hays High School. Donna’s passion for teaching and the environment was profound. She could frequently be found in her garden, or carefully cultivated outdoor classroom, and relished joining her students to wade in the creeks of Ellis County and explore the prairie in pursuit of all manner of flora and fauna. No reptile was too elusive, grass too non-descript, nor bird too common to escape Donna’s attention, and this enthusiastic dedication to understanding every facet of the natural world was contagious, leaving countless students and friends with a deep love and respect for nature and the environment.

Donna was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2024 and faced the realities of the disease with her trademark perseverance, stubbornly pushing on through every new challenge. Her passing leaves a large hole in the lives of her family, her many friends, and her former students, to whom she was such a source of inspiration. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Hays First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Susan Murithi officiating. 

Burial will follow in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hays Symphony Guild, Hays Arts Council, the Community Assistance Center, First Call for Help, or to Hays First United Methodist Church, all of which were causes that Donna cared deeply about.

John Walter Gill

Aaron Pflaum, age 50, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Salina Regional Medical Center.

Aaron was born on April 11, 1975, in Hays, Kansas, to Joe and Vicki (Furnas) Pflaum. He was a 1993 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University.

A lifelong salesman, Aaron began his career in automotive sales at a young age. He was a gifted and trusted professional, known for his honesty, integrity, and the loyal customers who returned to him for generations.

An avid outdoorsman, Aaron enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends—especially fishing with his son, Blake, and dad, Joe. Aaron was so proud of his children and always enjoyed watching his girls do gymnastics and cheer. Aaron was a great cook who enjoyed grilling and carrying on the tradition of a family fish fry.

Aaron is survived by his significant other, Stacy Budig; his children, Brittany Pflaum of Hays, Brooke (Tucker) Johnson of Topeka, and Blake Pflaum of Hays; and their mother, Tera Herrman. He is also survived by his mother, Vicki Pflaum of Hays; his sister, Lindsay (Jamie) Hart and their son, Braxton, of Hays; and his grandmother, Norma Furnas of Falls City, Nebraska, along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Pflaum; his grandfather, Clyde Furnas; and his grandparents, Al and Leola Pflaum; his uncle and Godfather, Gale Furnas; his cousin, Adam Furnas; and his uncle, Kenny Pflaum.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 305 West Seventh St., Hays, Kansas, with Pastor Troy Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be dedicated to Brooke, Brittany, and Blake in loving memory of their father, Aaron Pflaum.  </figure>Aaron Pflaum, age 50, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Salina Regional Medical Center.Aaron was born on April 11, 1975, in Hays, Kansas, to Joe and Vicki (Furnas) Pflaum. He was a 1993 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University.A lifelong salesman, Aaron began his career in automotive sales at a young age. He was a gifted and trusted professional, known for his honesty, integrity, and the loyal customers who returned to him for generations.An avid outdoorsman, Aaron enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends—especially fishing with his son, Blake, and dad, Joe. Aaron was so proud of his children and always enjoyed watching his girls do gymnastics and cheer. Aaron was a great cook who enjoyed grilling and carrying on the tradition of a family fish fry.Aaron is survived by his significant other, Stacy Budig; his children, Brittany Pflaum of Hays, Brooke (Tucker) Johnson of Topeka, and Blake Pflaum of Hays; and their mother, Tera Herrman. He is also survived by his mother, Vicki Pflaum of Hays; his sister, Lindsay (Jamie) Hart and their son, Braxton, of Hays; and his grandmother, Norma Furnas of Falls City, Nebraska, along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Pflaum; his grandfather, Clyde Furnas; and his grandparents, Al and Leola Pflaum; his uncle and Godfather, Gale Furnas; his cousin, Adam Furnas; and his uncle, Kenny Pflaum.Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 305 West Seventh St., Hays, Kansas, with Pastor Troy Miller officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be dedicated to Brooke, Brittany, and Blake in loving memory of their father, Aaron Pflaum. Gilbert Joseph Augustine, age 91, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at HaysMed. He was born July 2, 1934, on the family farm in rural Ellis, Kansas to Rudolph and Regina (Reitmeyer) Augustine. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1954. On October 12,1954 he married Janet Lucille Ptaschek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2021.

Gilbert was a lifelong farmer and a custodian for USD 388 for 33 years. He served in the National Guard. In his spare time, he enjoyed morning coffee breaks with his friends, playing cards especially pinochle, casino trips and vacationing with Janet and family. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ellis 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Gilbert was a man who loved his family and had a strong work ethic and Catholic faith.

He is survived by three sons, Gregory Augustine and wife Pamela of Ellis, Gordon Augustine and wife Geri of Ellis and Wayne Augustine and wife Lori of Glen Elder, Kansas; four daughters, Elaine Weber of WaKeeney, Kansas, Deborah LaBarge and husband Martin of Ellis, Sandy Waldschmidt and husband Pete of Ellis, and Brenda Hutchison and husband Terry of Hays; his brothers, Vergil (Ann) Augustine of Ellis, Richard (Dorothy) Augustine of Hays, Arnold (Marilyn) Augustine of Hays and Darrell Augustine of Olathe; a sister, Irene Normandin of Olathe; 32 grandchildren, Adam Augustine (Gianna), Staci Hauschild, Wendy Waterson (David); Bill Weber Jr. (Tiffany), Mike Weber (Christine), Jason Weber, Kim Schmidtberger (Corey), Marty LaBarge (Rhonda), Matthew LaBarge (Alaina), Chris LaBarge (Jana), Jenny Schartz (Jake), Justin LaBarge (Rachel), Mindy Hazen, P.J. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; son-in-law, Bill Weber Sr.; brothers, Alvin and Rudolph Jr.; sisters, Infant Dorothy, Betty J. (Robert) Weber, Shirley (Don) Leikam; and a brother-in-law, Louis Normandin; grandson, Jeffrey Browning; great grandchildren, Peyton Weber, Jonah Schmidtberger, and Bramdon Augustine; and great-great grandson, Noah Browning.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Fr. Dana Clark officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time all at the church.

A combined parish vigil and Knights of Columbus rosary service will be on Thursday at 7:00 PM with the Ellis 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard.

G. 'Shorty' Geist Jr, age 75, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Monday, November
3, 2025, at his home.&nbsp; He was born on December 14, 1950, in Hays, Kansas
to Joseph and Virginia (Klaus) Geist Sr.&nbsp; He married Deborah A.
(Zimmerman) and later separated.

Shorty worked in the Ellis and Russell counties oil fields for 20 years then
went to Fort Hays State University and was a custodian at Sternberg Museum for
20 years.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Hays High School, a veteran of the U S
Army, and he enjoyed fishing.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his children, Chad Geist, Hays, KS; Wayne Geist, Hays, KS;
Dawn Geist, Hays, KS; his grandchildren, Madison Geist; Caleb Alcala; Jayden
Stramel; Ethan Alcala; Hannah Alcala; Paxton Driskill; his great granddaughter,
Oakly Geist; his sister, Nancy Seib and her husband, Mike, Hays, KS, his
sister-in-law, Susan Geist, Hays, KS.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Virginia; his former

Delores D.
Lockhart, 70, of Oakley, died Monday, November 3, 2025. She was born October
19, 1955, in Quinter, KS, to Victor and Esmaria 'Esta' (Wolf) Schmidtberger.
Delores grew up on the family farm near Grainfield and graduated from Wheatland
High School in 1973. 

She married
Eugene Baalmann on November 23, 1973, and made their home in Oakley. The couple
had two boys who, especially after Gene’s passing, kept her on her toes.
Delores was a dedicated employee and always took pride in her work. After high
school she took a job at C.D. Clark &amp; Sons, working in the parts department
and later moved to the office where she learned accounting. She remained there
until 1991 when she went to work at Hoxie Implement, where she stayed for 25
years. She was employed at American Implement in Colby at the time of her
death. She also did the accounting for Cross Country Trucking and Baalmann
Mortuary. Along with accounting, she was a notary and had her insurance
license. After Gene’s passing in 1996, Delores met Daniel Lockhart and they
were married in August 2002. 

She never met a
stranger and remembered everyone! She enjoyed socializing at her weekly ladies
bowling league and one of the highlights of her year was bartending with Danny
at the annual St. Joesph School Winter Blast. This led to them bartending many
weddings, which she was always thrilled to do. She was known for her huge
garden, which she took great pride in. She loved giving the produce away to
coworkers, family, and St. Joseph School. What she didn’t give away she enjoyed
canning, cooking and baking with. She also loved playing cards, going to her
grandchildren’s events and spending time with family. Delores was a member of
St. Joseph Church, where she served on the Finance Council and was part of the
Altar Society.

She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene Baalmann and infant brother
Mark Alan. 

Delores is
survived by her husband Danny; sons, David (Julie), of Louisburg, KS and Jason
(Shane) of Colby, KS; grandchildren, Kylie, Carson, Connor, Liam, Elan and
Audra; step-children, Ryan (Amanda) Lockhart and Elizabeth (Ethan) DeVader;
nine step- grandchildren; siblings, Sylvia (Terry) Krannawitter, Lela Cooksey,
Doris Schmidtberger-Baker, Leroy (Pam) Schmidtberger, Joe (Jennifer)
Schmidtberger, Delmar (Linda) Schmidtberger, Arnold (Kathy) Schmidtberger,
Alvera (Gary) Bruggeman, and Vicki (Sean) Timiney; and numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins. 

Visitation is
5-7:00 p.m. with Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at St. Joseph
