Anna Alvena (Brown) West, went to Heaven on September 28, 2025, to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Anna had resided at Via Christi Village, Hays, KS for the last 8 years. Anna was born on 07/10,1931 in Natoma KS. Anna’s mother passed away after the birth of Anna. Anna was primarily raised by Minnie and William Moorhead, who were her aunt and uncle. Anna was surrounded by her loving Father, sisters and brother. Anna graduated from Natoma High School. She attended one year of college at Salina Wesleyan. Anna returned home to Natoma and helped her father H.B. Brown at the family owned Natoma – Luray Independent. Anna also had a calling to help the elderly in Natoma KS.

 Anna was introduced to Clarence K. West in the summer of 1951 and married in November of that year in Natoma, KS. Anna and Clarence moved to Los Angeles California where they attended a Missions school to become missionaries to Mexico. After graduating from the Missions school, they moved to Colby KS and started a family. Orrin Burton West was born in 1954, and Lottie Elizabeth West was born in 1955. 

Anna and family continued to reside in Colby. Besides raising her children, helping Clarence and running her house Anna loved to play the piano, study the Bible and share God’s love with all the people that she met. After the children were raised, Anna started to work with Clarence as his assistant doing custodial work at the Grade school in Colby. After Clarence retired from the school, he and Anna began working at the Senior Center in Colby. It was at the Senior Center Anna and Clarence made many close relationships with the staff and members of the Center. Anna did help Clarene with his custodial duties, but she also assisted in making reservations for meals and rides to the Center. Anna and Clarence worked at the Center for over 15 years. They were honored by the Center as King and Queen in 1998. Anna was also Mrs. Claus for several years during the Christmas open house. 

Anna and Clarence enjoyed traveling to see their family and friends. They enjoyed hosting all of their friends at the Village Inn. Since Clarence’s passing in 2001, Anna has resided in Hays with her daughter and family. In 2015, Anna came to reside at Via Christi Village. While there Anna developed many, many friends with staff and residents. She loved to spell everyone’s name and any other word that sounded interesting to her. She loved to sing Home on the Range, and Christmas tunes. She was very loved and affectionately called Anna Banana by many of the staff.

 Anna attended New Life Center, Assembly of God for many years until she moved to Via Christi. She always would tell others that she loved them and would blow them kisses. Most importantly, Anna loved Jesus and would always find ways to tell everyone she met, about the love of Jesus and that we all need to love one another. She would always tell people around her that she loved them. Anna has always felt loved and supported by her family. She is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. 

Survivors include, Orrin West (Terri), Fargo North Dakota, Lottie Elizabeth (West) Porsi (Steve) of Hays, KS. Grandchildren Luke &amp; Kris Porsi of Soldotna, Alaska, Hollie (Porsi) McLaughlin (Omar) Olathe KS. Ben, Fargo N.D. Wendell and Anne of Minnesota. Great grandchildren, Izzy, Shiloh, C.K., Anna Joy, Shepard and Axel. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. Her brother Robert Brown, Sisters, Roberta Griffing and Della Crawford. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Via Christi Village Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow in the Natoma City Cemetery.

Anna Alvena (Brown) West

Zane Thomas Wickham, age 34 of Hays, Kansas died September 28,
2025, in Hays. He was born March 17, 1991, in Pratt, Kansas to Robert J. and
Linda Baalman Wickham.

Zane grew up in Hays and was a 2009 graduate of Hays High School
where he excelled in many sports, including wrestling, baseball, and football.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Zane was never one to stay
still, whether on his side by side, or his motorcycle, he was always on the go.

He worked in the oil field as a pumper for TransPac Oil and
enjoyed the morning solitude and beautiful sunrises that Kansas is famous for
each and every workday.

His son and daughter brought him immense joy, and he loved
spending time with them and supporting them in all their activities.

Zane is survived by his children: Laytyn and Layney; his parents:
Robert J. and Linda Wickham, all of Hays; sister: Carissa (Dexter) Pfeifer and
their children: Nora and Navy of Olathe, KS. Aunts and Uncles: Carrie (Jeff)
Sutton of Buhler, KS, Connie (Gerold) Linenberger, Mike (Gail) Wickham, all of
Hays, KS, Kathy (Dave) Harb of FL, Dennis Baalman of Monument, KS, Rick (Joyce)
Baalman of Grinnell, KS, Roger Baalman of Hays, and VC McPhail of Cimmaron, KS.
He is also survived by his grandfather: Robert E. Wickham of Hays. His extended

Andrew J. 'Andy' Kuhn Jr.,&nbsp;age
73, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the
University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.

Andy was born on September 19, 1952, in Hays, Kansas, to Andrew and Clara Irene
(Hammerschmidt) Kuhn.&nbsp; On August 11, 1973, he married Wanda Dinkel of
Victoria, Kansas, and together they shared 52 wonderful years.

He grew up in Ellis, Kansas, and attended Thomas More Prep High School in
Hays, Kansas, graduating in 1971.&nbsp; He then graduated from North Central
Kansas Vo-Tech in Beloit, Kansas.

Throughout his career, Andy worked at King of the Road in Russell, Kansas,
Enersys and Heartland Building Center in Hays, Kansas, retiring in 2017.&nbsp;
He dedicated much of his life to serving his community, including leadership on
the St. Fidelis Parish Council in Victoria, Kansas, and helping with funeral
committee meals.&nbsp; He was also a proud member of the Victoria 3rd&nbsp;Degree
Knights of Columbus, and served as Grand Knight, a member of the 4th&nbsp;Degree
Assembly, and a volunteer at the Community Assistance Center in Hays.

During retirement, Andy and Wanda moved to Aurora, Colorado, to be closer to
their grandchildren.&nbsp; He treasured every moment spent taking them to
school and their activities, and he enjoyed walking his 'grand-dogs.'

Andy is survived by his wife, Wanda Kuhn; his daughter, Kristi Kuhn and
husband, Enrique Alvarez, Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren Ian and Nora
Alvarez, Denver, Colorado; his siblings, Norbert Kuhn, Hays, Kansas; Norman
Kuhn and wife, Kathy, Victoria, Kansas; Agneta Kuhn and Josita Dreiling, both
of Ellis, Kansas; and numerous nephews, nieces, and in-laws.

Andrew Joseph 'Andy' Kuhn

Scott William Heimann, 32, Hays, died Sunday, September 28,
2025 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 24, 1993 in Shawnee, the son of William
H. and Teresa M. (Becker) Heimann.&nbsp; He
was a graduate of TMP-Marian High School with the class of 2012 and attended the
University of Kansas.&nbsp; Scott was a
Sergeant with the Hays Police Department and served as a member of the Special
Situation Response Team, High-Tech Crime Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children
Task Force and the Honor Guard.&nbsp; He was
also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and an Eagle
Scout.&nbsp; On June 18, 2016, he was united
in marriage to Elizabeth Patricia “Beth” at St. Joseph Church.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was
very organized and constantly striving to do his best, especially as a husband
to Beth and a father to Victoria and Patrick.&nbsp;
He loved family bike rides, helping Beth around the house, and being a
dad.

Survivors include his wife Beth of Hays, his children
Victoria Sue and Patrick Jude Heimann of Hays, his parents Bill and Teresa
Heimann of Hays, two brothers Joseph Heimann and wife Megan and Jeffrey Heimann
and wife Brooklyn, all of Sheldon, Iowa, two sisters Natalie Brei and husband

Scott William Heimann

Timothy Francis Pechanec, born on December 19,
1954, in Great Bend, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, in
Olathe, Kansas. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished
brother, and loyal friend. Timothy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor,
and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Timothy graduated from Otis-Bison High School in
1972 and went on to attend Fort Hays State University, where he continued to
build the foundation for a long and successful career. He served as a Senior
Account Representative at Wausau, where he was known for his professionalism,
integrity, and the relationships he built over the years.

Tim was known for his easygoing personality and
infectious sense of humor. A lifelong jokester, he brought laughter to any room
and joy to all who knew him. Whether he was tinkering in his barn, manning the
grill, camping under the stars, boating on the water, or planning the next
family adventure, Timothy embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. He was an

On October 10, 1991, he married the love of his
life, Kimberley Jean (Rhodes) Pechanec, in Olathe, Kansas. Together they built
a life rich in love, laughter, and shared experiences. Timothy was immensely
proud of his family and found his greatest joy in being a husband, father, and
grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberley,
and their three daughters: Ashley (Benjamin) Clark, Amanda (Shae) Grosdidier,
and Amber (Jordan) Currier. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Maximus,
Victoria, River, Quinn, Dierks, Fletcher, Francis, and Flint. He also leaves
behind his brother, Greg Pechanec, and sister, Janet Palmer.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents,
Edward and Maye (West) Pechanec, whose love and guidance shaped the man he
became.

October 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Dengel &amp; Son Mortuary in Paola,

Timothy Francis Pechanec

Jerome 'Jerry' Francis Spiess, a man with at least nine lives and a laugh you could
never forget, passed away on September 24, 2025, at age 72. He lived simply,
fully, and always on his own terms—even when life had other plans.



Born May 21, 1953, in Hays, Kansas, to John and Eleanor Spiess, Jerry was a
lifelong Kansan and longtime resident of Russell. He was preceded in death by
his parents, John and Eleanor Spiess. 

He is survived by his three
children—Jason Spiess of Paradise, KS; Kelly Wellbrock and her husband Brett of
Salina, KS; and Melanie Dennis and her husband Travis of Springfield, MO—seven
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and four siblings: Sharon Cohoon, Carol
Weigel, Jim Spiess, and Joe Spiess.

Raised in a Catholic family, Jerry attended seminary high school in Victoria
and graduated from Thomas More Prep in Hays (Class of 1971). He later built a
career in the oilfields—where the work was tough, but never tougher than him.
After a life-changing accident, he got back up, reinvented himself, and earned
a computer science degree from Salina Tech. He proved that grit and curiosity
go hand in hand, especially when you move to the beat of your own drum.



Sharp, funny, and unconventional in all the best ways, Jerry made auctions his
playground. Predicting his negotiations was impossible—he could put together
deals that made you chuckle, scratch your head, or both. And if he scored
something, he was quick to offer you first pick. Selfless to the core, Jerry
was happiest giving things away—including his many boat conquests. Though no
one ever took him up on it, the offer always stood: “Need a boat? It’s a pretty
good deal!”



He bought and reinvented the local laundromat, where the whole family pitched
in and somehow found joy in the routine. He sponsored his kids’ softball team,
cheered from the sidelines, and proudly supported the Russell community and his
oilfield family. He also rang the church bells—a quiet role he carried with
pride.



When not working or bidding on treasures, Jerry loved fishing. He was always
proud to show off a secret fishing hole—usually with a twinkle in his eye and a
story to go with it. He believed the best things in life were simple, shared,
and slightly off the beaten path.



Jerry had a way of seeing life clearly—especially when others got tangled in
the details. When stress crept in, he’d strip things down to their simplest
truths. 'Money is just fancy paper,' he’d say with a grin, reminding you to
focus on what really matters. His wisdom was quiet but grounding—and he had a gift
for cutting through the noise and helping you reset, not with advice, but with
perspective.



Of all his accomplishments, Jerry took the most pride in his children. He never
missed a chance to brag about them or support them in his own unique way. His
grandchildren—and now great-grandchild—brought him that same joy.



More than anything, Jerry was resilient, fiercely himself, and endlessly
entertaining. His laugh—loud, genuine, contagious—was a gift to everyone who
knew him. Tough as they come, he showed us how to live fully, bend the rules a
little, and never, ever give up.



The family wishes to thank the Russell community for their support, friendship,
and kindness throughout the years.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, at
St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell, followed by a luncheon in
the parish hall. A private burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery
in Hays, where Jerry will rest beside his parents.

Jerome 'Jerry' Francis Spiess

Helen Caroline Deines, 90, peacefully passed away on
September 24, 2025, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long-Term Care in
WaKeeney, KS, just three days before her 91st birthday.

Helen was born on September 27, 1934, in Ellis, KS, to John
J. and Mary (Armbrister) Zachman. She was baptized on November 4, 1934, and
confirmed on April 10, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ellis, KS.
She attended Excelsior Grade School, rural Ellis (1940–1946), Washington
Elementary School in Ellis (1946–1948), and graduated from Ellis High School
with the Class of 1952.

On April 14, 1953, Helen was united in marriage to Donald E.
Deines at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ellis, KS. They resided on a farm
southeast of WaKeeney and shared 68 years of marriage until Donald’s passing on
May 25, 2021. Helen was first employed as a bookkeeper at Golden Belt Co-Op in
Ellis from May 1952 to April 1953. In December 1954, she began her lifelong
career at Trego WaKeeney State Bank, where she faithfully worked until her
retirement in December 2018.

Helen became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in
WaKeeney on May 10, 1953. She taught Sunday School for 15 years, served as
co-sponsor of the Senior High Youth Group for four years, and sang in the
church choir. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, genealogy, dancing, and
playing cards, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family,
especially her son and daughter-in-law.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Christine) Deines of
Austin, TX; her sister, Martha Massier of Ellis, KS; her sister-in-law,
Adabelle Zachman of Ellis, KS; and her brother-in-law, Milton Dietz of Hays,
KS, who was married to her sister Dorthy. Helen will also be dearly missed by
her nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and by Don’s 'My Brenda.'

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Deines; her
parents, John J. and Mary Zachman; her brothers, Oscar, Ernest, Raymond, Infant
Wayne, Harry, and George Zachman; and her sisters, Anna Hamburg, Frieda
Allphin, and Dorothy Dietz.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from
5:00–7:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS. Funeral

William Theobald Wierman, age 85 of Hays, Kansas died Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Via Christi Village - Hays. He was born October 20, 1939 in McCracken, KS to William H. Wierman and Alvina G. (Bieker) Wierman. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During the course of his enlistment, he was stationed in Alaska and then finished his military service in the army reserves. He was united in marriage to Agnes Marie Schmidt on July 24, 1965 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays, KS.

Upon his discharge from the Army, he began work for Bieker Construction. He eventually started his own construction and remodeling business. His emphasis was on cabinets and finish carpentry. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 173. He was also a Director for the Prairie Acres Improvement District for 39 years.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Wierman of Hays, KS; daughters, Anne Schulte (Matthew) of Hays, KS and Amy Wierman of Lawrence, KS; a son, William G. Wierman (Tammy) of Hays, KS; grandchildren, Jenna Schulte (Rohn), Michael Schulte (Andreina), Emily Schulte, and Travis Wierman; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Cora Brantley, Emma and Olivia Schulte and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Stevenson and Clarice (Joe) Chism.

William Theobald Wierman

Ronald W. Bean, age 89, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on
September 22, 2025. He was born on August 15, 1936, in Anna, Illinois. After
graduating high school, Ron continued his education at Southern Illinois
University, earning his bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

On November 8, 1986, Ron was united in marriage to Ruth
(Tegtmeyer) Schmitz. They shared 30 wonderful years together before Ruth’s
passing on April 29, 2017. Through Ron’s work as an agricultural chemical sales
representative for Ciba Geigy, a career that spanned more than 40 years, he and
Ruth were able to travel and enjoy many destinations. Together, they also loved
visiting casinos, playing cards with family, and making memories with their
children and grandchildren.

Ron enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his lawn and
garden, which were his true passions. He was an avid Kansas City Royals fan and
looked forward to watching K-State football and basketball whenever he could.
Ron also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family.

Survivors include his brother, Deward Bean; children, Darrin
Schmitz (Jenny) of Shawnee, KS, Derrik Schmitz of Hays, KS, and Lisa Pease
(Joe) of Colorado Springs, CO; and grandchildren, Savannah and Elijah of Hays,
Zachariah of Shawnee, Britney of Wichita, and Ashley and Christopher of
Colorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his parents,
Herman and Nannie Bean; and his siblings, Sarah, Harold, and George.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from
9:30–10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2900 Hall St., Hays, KS 67601. A
funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Ben Houchen officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in McGinnis Cemetery, Anna, Illinois,
where Ron will be laid to rest beside his wife, Ruth.

Rudolph 'Rudy' Augustine Jr., age 86 of Hill City, Kansas passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 in Hill City. He was born April 1, 1939 in Ellis County, Kansas to Rudolph Sr. and Regina (Reitmayer) Augustine. He graduated from Ellis High School in 1958.

Rudy was a retired heavy Equipment Operator starting for Trego County and then moving on to and retiring with the Graham County Road and Bridge department. Rudy served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. In his retirement he enjoyed his coffee time with friends, often meeting twice a day. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hill City.

Survivors include his daughter, Roxanne Zane of Wichita; brothers, Gilbert Augustine, Virgil (Ann) Augustine of Ellis, Richard (Dorothy), Arnold (Marilyn) of Hays and Darrell of Olathe; a sister, Irene Normandin of Olathe and a granddaughter, Angela Zinn and her children, Logan and Nolan Zinn.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Augustine; sisters, Betty J. (Robert) Weber, Shirley (Don) Leikam; sister-in-law, Janet Augustine and a brother-in-law, Louis Normandin.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Friday 9:00 AM until service time all at the church.

A combined parish vigil and rosary will be 7:00 PM Thursday at the church.

Bryce Charles Stephens, 77, of
Jennings, KS passed away September 18, 2025 at Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS. He
was born July 26, 1948 in Colby, KS to Andrew and Rosalia (Meitl) Stephens.

Bryce grew up in Allison Township and
was a 1966 graduate from Leoville High School. After high school he joined the
United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War era as a Helicopter Crew
Chief. When he returned, he attended Wichita State University where he received
an Associate of Science in Legal Assistant in 1979, a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in May of 1981, and then attended Washburn Law School for one year. Bryce
married Linda Davis on May 21, 1978 in Oklahoma. He was interested in
Biodynamic Agriculture, seed preservation, and bison ranching. You would often
find him reading, researching his family heritage and legacy, or fixing and
repairing machinery and equipment. He was an advocate for Lakota and Cheyenne
Native American Rights and Social Justice. Bryce was a member of the Organic
Crop Improvement Assn., Demeter Assn., Central Plains Organic Farmers Assn.,
Midwest Organic Producer, Decatur Coop, and Prairieland Electric. 

Bryce is survived by his wife, Linda;
children: Bryan and wife Katherine Stephens-Gerry, Roselin Lee, Crystal

Bryce Charles Stephens

Margaret Ada 'Meg' Zweifel, 88, of Great Bend, Kansas, and
formerly of Waldo, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the
Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Great Bend, Kansas. 

Meg was born October 21, 1936, to Reuben and Nellie (Roth)
Francis, in Lucas, Kansas. Meg was united in marriage to Wayne C. Zweifel at
her parents’ home in rural Lucas, Kansas, on February 6, 1955. This union was
blessed with five children: Steven Wayne, Sheila Jean, Sherry Kay, Shelly May
and Bradley Charles. 

Meg’s early years were spent on Rocktown Ranch farm, where
the Wilson Lake is now established. In 1955, she and her husband moved to a
farm in rural Waldo and built a new home there. She graduated from Lucas High
School in May of 1954 and then attended Northwest Kansas College at Hays,
Kansas. She belonged to the Paradise Dell FCE Club since 1960, the TOPS (Take
off pounds sensibly)# ks.874 and was a charter member and was a KOPS (Keep off
pounds sensibly) since 1998, where she held every officer position. She also
started the Russell Red Hot Hatters of Russell and the Lucas Post Rock Red Hat
Brats of the Red Hat Society. She so enjoyed Biking Across Kansas for 27 years,
which she loved very much and made some very dear friends. 

Meg devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and
homemaker to her growing family while her children were growing up. After her
children were in school, Meg went to work at the Russell County Courthouse for
five years, then was office manager at DSNWK. She then worked for several years
as Secretary/Bookkeeper at Smoky Hills Public Television Station in Bunker
Hill, Kansas, and was also a Tour Guide for Cheyanne Travel Agency of Great
Bend. After she retired, she accepted a part time position as a Loan Officer at
Rapid Cash in Russell where she worked for over 12 years until she was 83 and
retired again because of the COVID Pandemic. 

Meg was a long time member of the Amherst Methodist Church
in rural Waldo and was baptized in 1997. Meg enjoyed music and loved to sing
Hymns. She also enjoyed making homemade candies for Christmas to give away and
adored attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school programs. She
was always excited to see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
and so enjoyed the family get togethers, including the traditional cocoa and
biscuit breakfast and all the one-on-one trips with her grandchildren to their
Condo’s in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and the marvelous family vacations to
Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Silver Dollar City in Branson and Washington, D.C. plus
many other wonderful places. 

Meg helped her husband with farming and harvest by bringing
out sandwiches for the crew and her creative casseroles, occasionally driving a
truck when needed. She faced life, as well as her many health challenges, with
calm acceptance and desire to adjust to whatever new reality she faced – which
she did without complaining. 

Surviving family include: daughters, Sheila Hinman (Greg) of
Lewis, Kansas, Sherry Pruter (Dale) of Great Bend, Kansas, Shelly Post (Ron) of
Great Bend, Kansas; son, Bradley Zweifel (Beth) of Waldo, Kansas.
Grandchildren; Jeannie Grimme (Casey), Jeff Hinman (Maggie), Jessica Hinman
(Bryce Brown), Luke Pruter (Maggie), Audra Rostine (Eric), Holly Johnson
(Eric), Megan McGuire (Ross), Alisha Livingston (Mathew), Carol Joyce Ridgley
(C.J.) and Payton Zweifel; great grandchildren, Connor Grimme (Madison), Claire
Grimme, Kaiden, Kenzlie and Kooper Rostine, Sheridan and Clayton Johnson,
Hudson and Hazel Hinman, Amelia and Kaladin McGuire, Wesley, Lily and Eliza
Livingston; great-great granddaughter, Oakleigh Grimme and a great-great
grandson on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Meg was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, on April 2,
2021; son, Steven Wayne Zweifel on June 12, 1968, in a tractor accident; her
parents; sisters, Lillian Waugh and Janeice Hochman; and her
granddaughter-in-law, Abby Hinman. 

Celebration of Meg’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M.,
Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Luray Community Church in Luray, Kansas.
Burial will follow at the Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00
AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 26, 2025, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in
Russell, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A

Darrell Blosser, 86, Hays, died Saturday, September 20, 2025
at HaysMed.

He was born February 21, 1939 in Sterling, Illinois, the son
of Aquila Henry and Mabel A. (Frey) Blosser.&nbsp;
He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957 then gave two years of
service through the Mennonite Volunteer Service Program.&nbsp;&nbsp; On May 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to
Joyce E. Sommerfeld in Hesston, Kansas.&nbsp;
They moved to Hays in 1967 and were married 30 years before she preceded
him in death on December 18, 1992.&nbsp; On
May 3, 1993, he was united in marriage to Diana M. Robbins in Olathe.

Darrell was the manager of the ready-mix department at
Allied, Inc. and even in his retirement years continued to enjoy his job as a
bus driver for USD 489.&nbsp; He was a
longtime member of the Hays Nazarene Church where he started the bus ministry,
transporting children to and from Vacation Bible School, and with Joyce, was a
youth sponsor.&nbsp; He was a member of
Gideons International, North Oak Community Church, and loved singing with the
Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus, Inspirations Gospel Quartet, and most recently
with the 4given Quartet.&nbsp; He was a loyal
Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, liked model trains, playing fastpitch
softball, coaching high school fastpitch softball in Hesston, and listening to southern
Gospel and Barbershop music. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Diana of Hays, his daughter,
Valerie Juillerat and husband William of Larwill, IN, three sons, Lonnie
Blosser and wife Amy of Maysville, KY, Rick Blosser and wife Joni of
Hutchinson, and Jonathan Robbins and wife Autumn of Hays, his sister, Elaine
Stuckey and husband Jay of Fort Wayne, IN, 11 grandchildren, Brandon Blosser
and wife Megan, Nikki Blosser, Whitney White and husband Ryan, Courtney

Michael Edward Schmidt, of Wichita, KS, born March 4, 1973,
passed away on September 18, 2025.

Michael graduated from Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School in the
Class of 1991. He went on to attend Kansas State University and Friends
University, where he studied business. He spent 20 years with the Chicken Poop
company, where he used his knowledge of business to help market and grow the
company alongside his family. Michael loved his family deeply. He also
cherished the time he spent with his many lifelong friends, whom he considered
to be like family. In his free time, Michael enjoyed playing golf, traveling,
and being with the people he loved. He especially cherished his trips to Puerto
Vallarta. Michael lived a full and blessed life.

Michael is survived by his parents, Ken and Norma Schmidt;
his sister, Gretchen Connolly (Jeffrey); and his brothers, Eric Schmidt
(Jamie), Mark Schmidt (Kathy), and Kurt Schmidt (Jessica). He was a beloved
uncle to 10 nieces and nephews (one deceased) and 4 great-nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be held on Monday, September 29, at 9:30
a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, followed immediately by the Funeral
Mass at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the
St. Vincent de Paul Society at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 N.

Lorraine Kay (Hance) Newell, 81, of Webster, Kansas, departed this life on May 3, 2025, at Rooks County Health Center.

She was born at home on the family farm in Webster on April 24, 1944, to Raymond and Christine Hance, and graduated from Webster High School in 1962. She married Gary Newell on October 20, 1962, and from this union, they had four daughters. They later divorced. Lorraine had a love of nature and animals! As a child, she had a pet deer, Judy, whom they fished out of the creek as a fawn, and a pet raccoon named Petey.

She enjoyed many activities and hobbies throughout her life. She was an artist and painted black and white portraits into color, and was an avid quilter and seamstress. She was passionate about restoring antiques, curling up with a good book, cooking for her family, hosting family gatherings, and telling stories about “the good ole’ days.” She loved all types of music and dancing, and would randomly break out and do “the Twist” when the mood struck her. She loved working in her flower beds, gardening, and putting up food “for a rainy day.” She never passed up a garage sale, thrift store, or antique shop.

Lorraine never knew a stranger. If you were fortunate enough to end up on her doorstep, you would be greeted with spirited conversation and would never leave with an empty stomach.

Lorraine was a hard worker. In her early years as a farmer’s wife, it was not uncommon to find her bottle-feeding litters of pigs, dogs, bunnies, kittens, or any other animal that needed a mom.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and nurturer. She wore many hats in her later years, including roofing for Schult Homes, working the line at Travenol, cooking at the Graham County Hospital and Stockton Grade School, serving as a CMA at Larned State Hospital, and working as an in-home health Aide.

She is survived by her children, Monica (Chuck) Bebb, Lenora, Michelle (Kelly) Dreiling, Hill City, Desiree (Terry) Double, Plainville, and Deena (Terry) Paxson, Hill City; twin sister Lyndal Fetterolf, Pawnee Rock; brother John Hance, Stockton; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Christine Hance; her brothers, Charles and Steve Hance; her grandson, Patrick Reilly; her nephew, Charles Velz; and her sons-in-law, Chuck Bebb and Terry Paxson.

Marjorie Dawn 'Margie' Knoll, 78, Hays, died Monday, September 22,
2025 at HaysMed.

She was born September 15, 1947 in Hoxie, the daughter and
youngest of five children of Roland Henry and Esther Amelia Martha (Schlicher)
Weber.&nbsp; She graduated from Hoxie High
School in 1965 then attended Fort Hays State University where she earned a
Bachelor’s Degree in German and Library Science and a certification in French.&nbsp; On July 6, 1969 she was united in marriage to
Leo B. Knoll, Jr. in Hoxie, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.&nbsp; Margie taught German at Hays High School
until her twin children were born, then she stayed home to raise her
family.&nbsp; She later worked ten years for
the Division of Employment, then was a Senior Administrative Assistant at FHSU,
retiring in 2017.

Margie was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s
Mission League, and the Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as the volunteer
training specialist and secretary for the local branch training.&nbsp; She was a loving wife and mother, enjoyed creating
various crafts, was an amazing cook, and was known for her baked goods,
especially her sugar cookies and cakes.

Survivors include her husband Leo of Hays, her children Karl Knoll
of Independence, Missouri and Katrina Woelk and husband Daron of Russell, three
grandchildren, Chase Woelk (Carley), Aubrey Larson, and Bryant Woelk (Darian),
three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Mike and
Robert Lee Weber, and two sisters, Patricia Weber and Sharon Waters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on
Friday, September 26, 2025 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel
Hiesterman officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Mt. Allen Cemetery.
&nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday at Hays Memorial

Joyce
Eileen (Riedel) Richardson, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on September 6,
2025 in Arvada, CO.

Joyce grew up in Ellis, KS and is the
second eldest of ten children born to Edward and Bertha (Flax) Riedel. Joyce
attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and was a 1968 graduate from Ellis High
School.

Joyce enjoyed tending to her yard
and her beautiful flowers, keeping her lawn pristine at her family home. Joyce
had an impeccable work ethic whether at home or in her place of employment in
the check and printing industry. She was a master of frugality. Estate sales,
garage sales and thrifting were among her favorite pastimes. If she could find
a new or nearly-new, inexpensive item, either for herself or others, she would!
Family members would often ask her to keep a watchful eye out for a special item
for them; so very proud when she could present them with the item they
requested.

Most of all, Joyce loved and was devoted
to her children and grandchildren. She was always determined to provide
everything they needed but certainly not everything they wanted, thankfully!
Nothing made her happier than to see her children and grandchildren thrive.

Joyce is survived by her children; Br.
Conrad (Brent) Richardson, fbp of St. Paul, MN, Blake Richardson of Arvada, CO,
and Brittany (Richardson) Knight and husband, Justin, of Northglenn, CO, and
also her grandchildren; Emily, Isaiah and Ava.

Joyce is also survived by her

Morford, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025. Born on February
18, 1936, in Norton, Kansas, Edwin was a devoted family man who led a life
defined by hard work and a love for the open water, where he found freedom and
joy gliding across the water on his jet skis.

Edwin was
deeply passionate about his family, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to caring
for those he loved. His adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors were
evident in many ways, especially through his time spent on the water.

He retired
from Bett's Rainbow Baking Company in 1998.

&nbsp;He
is survived by his children:&nbsp;Guy Morford (Karina), Penny Lindell (Victor),
Lee Morford (Brandi), Amy Miller (Jest), Julie Burgess (Jake)&nbsp; 

&nbsp;Edwin’s
legacy continues through his 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who
were a great source of pride and joy in his life.

&nbsp;He
was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tottie Mae Morford and Melvin
Morford; his brothers, Francis and Lloyd Morford; his sister, Melva Wilcox; his
ex-wife, Beverly Morford; and his daughter, Faye Lyn Morford.

Good Samaritan's in Hays. He was born on June 19, 1950, to Elmer and Ida (Galliart) Casper. He married Katherine J. 'Kathy' Wiebe on April 23, 1994, and they shared the last 31 years together
in a happy and loving marriage, she survives.

Gerald worked in road construction and served as superintendent of KDOT for 40 years. He was
known for his strong work ethic, as well as his love
of golf, gardening and watching sports.

Survivors include
his three sons:
Richard Casper, Chris
(Jenny) Casper, and Scott (Amy) Casper;
his father, Elmer Casper; his sister, Trina (Leon) Feil;
five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and in-laws, Helen

Marcelyn Kay 'Marcy' Allenbaugh, 86, Hays, died Saturday,
September 20, 2025 at HaysMed.

She was born September 5, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the
daughter of Ned and Maxine (McCallian) Feaster.&nbsp; She graduated from
Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California with the class of 1958, and on
December 3, 1960 she was united in marriage to John “Dale” Allenbaugh in
Norwalk.&nbsp; They were married nearly 50 years before he preceded her in
death on October 6, 2010.&nbsp; Marcy was an administrator at A-1 Scaffold
Mfg., a homemaker, and her memberships included Celebration Community Church,
P.E.O., Red Hat Society, and a charter member of Norwalk Community
Church.&nbsp; 

Marcy enjoyed flowers, gardening, cardinals, and painting
porcelain art.&nbsp; She was a devout Christian, a woman of strength and
generosity, and the beautiful matriarch of her family.&nbsp; Her love extended
to each generation as she attended her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s
activities and sporting events, no matter the weather.&nbsp; Her delicious
cooking was enjoyed by all at the family holiday and birthday gatherings she
hosted. 

Survivors include her partner Jim Roberts of Hays, her three
daughters, Jenny Allenbaugh and wife Donna Scott, Cheryl Herman and husband
Mark, and Roberta Molstad, all of Hays, her daughter-in-law Dereama Allenbaugh
of Hays, two brothers, George Feaster and wife Becky of Mansfield, TX and Ned
Feaster, Jr. and wife Marilin of Cedar Hill, TN, 12 grandchildren, Lindsay
Urban (Brett), Ashley Bott (Jamey), Ashlee Haines (Jake), Chandra Allenbaugh
(Brian Dube), Devin Ermoian and Taylor Ermoian, Olivia Herman, Dixon Allenbaugh
(Sarah Hull), Andrew, Jenny, Isaac, and Angelina Molstad, 11 great
grandchildren, Payton Garrison (Lauren), Dawson and Brennon Garrison, Blythe
Urban, Delaney, Anderson, and McCallian Bott, Lewis, Mac, Levi, and Morgan
Haines, and five great-great grandchildren, Myles, Theo, Emrynn, Linkyn, and
Wesley Garrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale,
son Dwight Allenbaugh, grandson Wesley Allenbaugh, and an infant granddaughter
Cassandra Allenbaugh.&nbsp;
