Hays Eagles will host second annual Home Run Derby

HAYS – The Hays Larks were held to a season-low one run on
four hits Monday as they dropped their seconds straight, 5-1 to Junction
City.

Hays starter Hunter Parker matched Brigade starter Cade
Phelps through five shutout innings but Junction City did all of their damage in
the sixth inning. The Brigade scored all five of their runs against Trey Riggs
who lasted two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Parker did not factor into the decision. He allowed just one
hit in five innings with four strikeouts.

Phelps allowed one run in six innings with six strikeouts. 

Hays’ only run came in to bottom of the sixth on a bases
loaded walk for Palmer Hutchison.

Courtland Lawson and Grant Schmidt tallied the only hits in
the game for Hays. Lawson tripled and singled and Schmidt had a pair of
singles. 

The Larks travel to Colorado for six-game road trip starting
Thursday against the Roughriders.

⚾Larks offense held in check in loss to Junction City

BOSTON (AP) — Hunter Renfroe homered twice, the second to break a sixth-inning tie, as the Red Sox rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5. 

Kiké Hernández led off the bottom of the first with a home run for the second straight game, Bobby Dalbec also homered and Renfroe had a two-run shot in the fourth as Boston came back after falling behind 5-1. 

It was Renfroe’s 13th career multihomer game. 

The victory was Boston’s fourth straight, following a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees. 

It was also the team's major league-leading 26th come-from-behind win.

CONCORDIA - Cloud County men's cross country and track and field alumni Benard Keter has qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for team USA. Keter, who was a member of the 2013-14 Cloud County cross country and track and field teams, finished second this past weekend in the finals of the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the United States Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon by posting a time of 8:21.81 and will join Hillary Bor (8:21.34) and Mason Ferlic (8:22.05) as the three United States representatives in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. A native of Nakuru, Kenya, Keter was a First-Team NJCAA All-American in both cross country and half marathon in 2013 for CCCC by taking fifth in the NJCAA Cross Country Championships and National Runner-Up honors in the NJCAA Half Marathon Championships. Keter would then go on to a pair of All-American finishes in the 2013-14 NJCAA indoor track and field season by finishing National Runner-Up in the 3,000 meters and third in the 5,000 meters while setting Cloud County records in both events (the 5,000 meter-record still stands today). Capping off his lone year with the T-Birds, Keter would become an NJCAA National Champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2014 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships by running a time of 9:06.27 while also finishing as National Runner-Up in the 5,000 meters (14:37.00) with the 5,000 meter time serving as an outdoor track school-record that still stands today. Keter would go on to compete at Wayland Baptist University for one year before trasferring to Texas Tech University, winning an NAIA National Championship for the Pioneers in cross country in 2014 and National Runner-Up in 2015. On the track at WBU, Keter was a two-time National Champion in the 5,000 meters and 3,000 meter steeplechase before finishing third in the 3,000 meters in indoor track and the 10,000 meters in outdoor track. At his final stop in Lubbock, Texas, Keter would win multiple Big 12 Conference titles in both cross country and track and field on his way to a 10th place finish at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Keter still holds the 3,000 meter steeplechase record at both Wayland Baptist and Texas Tech. Following his years as a collegiate athlete, Keter would go on to join the United States Army and is currently a Unit Supply Specialist while running for the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. Cloud County alum Benard Keter to compete in Tokyo Olympics

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Five-time Pro Bowl receiver Demaryius Thomas announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday following a decade-long career.

“I'm just happy to say I'm done and it did me well,” Thomas said in&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/Broncos/status/1409533186346946566?s=20">a video on the Broncos' Twitter account.</a>

Thomas was part of the winningest four-year period in team history from 2012-15 with Peyton Manning at quarterback. The Denver Broncos went 55-17 during that span, winning two AFC titles and Super Bowl 50.

Manning said he never played with somebody as big, as strong and as fast as Thomas, who caught 445 passes for 6,249 yards and 46 touchdowns from 2012-15, including the playoffs.

Thomas' biggest catch, however came with Tim Tebow at quarterback in an AFC wild-card game on Jan. 8, 2012, when he hauled in a 80-yard touchdown pass on the first snap of overtime to beat Pittsburgh 29-23 in a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMVnLsODqqg">memorable moment</a>.

“I’ve never heard Empower Field at Mile High louder,” Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis said.

“It was like it was yesterday,” Thomas said in the video the Broncos posted on their Twitter account celebrating his career. “Every time I see it, every time I watch it, I still get the chills because it was just crazy.”

The Broncos plan to celebrate Thomas' nine-year stint in Denver during their home opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 26. Thomas will serve as honorary captain and there will be a video tribute to his career.

“D.T. was the complete package as a wide receiver, growing into one of the very best at his position,” said Broncos president of football operations John Elway. "The combination of his size, speed, strength and athleticism was unmatched. Demaryius’ remarkable consistency and production were instrumental in our offense setting historic records and our team winning a lot of games, including two AFC championships and Super Bowl 50.

“Equally as impressive as his many catches, big plays and touchdowns was the fact he didn’t miss a game for nearly seven years in a row," Elway added. "You could always count on D.T. He belongs among the greatest players in Broncos history for what he’s meant to this organization on the field and out in the community. We appreciate everything Demaryius did for us and congratulate him on his retirement from the NFL.”

Thomas was selected 22nd overall in the 2010 draft out of Georgia Tech. After playing for the Broncos from 2010-18, he was traded to the Houston Texans and finished his career with the Jets in 2019.

Despite appearing on the injury report two dozen times with finger, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, neck, calf and hand injuries, Thomas played every possible game during his final seven seasons in Denver.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl five consecutive seasons, beginning in 2012 and finishing in 2016 with Trevor Siemian at quarterback following Manning's retirement a month after winning Super Bowl 50.

He tied a franchise record with 14 TD catches in 2013 as the leading scorer on the most prolific offense in league history, one that piled up a record 606 points. His best statistical season came a year later when he set career highs with 111 catches for 1,619 yards.

During his four seasons with Manning, Thomas topped 90 catches and 1,300 receiving yards each year, joining Hall of Famers Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice as the only receivers in NFL history to reach those marks in four consecutive seasons.

The only other Broncos to make five consecutive Pro Bowls were Hall of Famers Steve Atwater and Shannon Sharpe.

HAYS – One night after hitting
five home runs and scoring 21 runs in a blowout win over the Colorado Sox, the
Hays Larks couldn’t come up with the big hit and lost 6-3 Sunday night at Larks
Park.

The Sox (5-5 RMBL) scored a run
in the seventh inning to tie then added three in the eighth to take the lead as
they split the two-game series and split the season series with the Larks.

The Larks (12-3, 6-2 RMBL) n
scored a run in the first. Brady Evans doubled to left with one out then stole
third and scored on Cam Peherson’s sacrifice fly.

The Sox strung together three
straight hits with two outs in the second and scored two on Wyatt Yarmer’s
single to right to take a 2-1 lead.

Hays would get the lead back
with two in the sixth. Cortland Lawson, who homered twice and drove in four in
his debut Saturday night, singled with two outs which scored Grant Schmidt with
the tying run. Palmer Hutchison then followed with a single to left to drive in
Lawson.

The Sox took advantage of the
leadoff walk off the reliever Jackson Blue and scoring the tying run on a
Yarmer single to center. Yarmer would drive in his fourth run of the night on
an infield single to finish off the decisive three run eighth.

The Larks threatened in the ninth
with a one out single from pinch hitter Zach Henry and a two-out walk to Core
Jackson but Cade Brown grounded out to second to end the game.

Jackson Blue (0-1) allowed
three runs on three hits over 1 1/3 innings of relief and takes the loss. Luuk
ter Beek gave up one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Starting pitcher Wyatt Divis
allowed two runs on four hits with a career-high nine strikeouts and two walks
over the first six innings.

The Larks were held to seven
hits and had only one in the last three innings. They stranded 12 baserunners,
seven of them in scoring position.

The Larks close out their
seven-game homestand Monday night with a non-league game at 7:00 p.m. with the
Junction City Brigade.

⚾ Sox rally past Larks

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Joey Gallo homered again, Jordan Lyles pitched seven strong innings after getting bumped from the rotation for one start, and the Texas Rangers finished a three-game sweep with a 4-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

The last-place Rangers have won three consecutive games for the first time since sweeping Houston at home from May 21-23, which they followed with an 0-9 trip on the way to tying a franchise record with 16 straight road losses.

Texas is headed on the road again this time, a six-game trip that starts Tuesday at Oakland. The Rangers had a 3-19 slide after the sweep of Houston but now have won five of seven.

Whit Merrifield had an RBI single among three hits as the Royals lost their fifth straight on a 10-game trip that matches their longest of the season. Kansas City is 4-17 since a five-game winning streak that put the club three games over .500.

Lyles (3-5) allowed seven hits — all singles — and a run with no walks and four strikeouts in his longest outing this year.

He was coming off a long relief stint on Tuesday in what would have been his day to start. Lyles allowed two runs in six innings after replacement Taylor Hearn couldn't get out of the first inning.

Spencer Patton got Jorge Soler on an inning-ending double play in the eighth with two runners on, and Ian Kennedy struck out two in a seven-pitch ninth for his 13th save.

Kansas City matched a season high with three errors, two by third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez. His second miscue with two outs in the sixth allowed Eli White to score the second unearned run for Texas.

Rangers: OF/DH Willie Calhoun went on the injured list a day after his left forearm was broken when he was hit by a pitch. OF Jason Martin was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers didn't have more details on Calhoun, whose jaw was broken when he was hit by a pitch in spring training last year. ... Manager Chris Woodward said OF David Dahl (left rib cage injury) wasn't the choice to replace Calhoun because the club wasn't ready to end his minor league rehab assignment. Dahl has been out since May 26.

Royals: LHP Danny Duffy (4-3, 1.81 ERA) is set for the opener of a four-game series at Boston on Monday. Duffy, who has made eight starts, is coming off his first relief appearance of the season, a scoreless inning in the series opener against the Rangers. Duffy is 0-6 with a 7.26 ERA in eight starts against Boston.

Rangers: RHP Mike Foltynewicz (1-7, 5.40) is scheduled for the opener against the Athletics. Foltynewicz took a shutout into the seventh inning of a 5-3 win over the A's in his previous start. He allowed two runs in six-plus innings after giving up 16 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings in his previous three June starts.

HAYS - The Hays Larks hit five home runs and got a solid pitching performance from Jake Fitzgibbons in a 21-2 rout of the Colorado Sox in front of a large Larks Park crowd Saturday.

Grant Lung and Cortland Lawson both hit two homers and Sam Crowell added a grand slam as the Larks improve to 12-2 and 6-1 in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League.

Lawson, who arrived in Hays Friday night following Tennessee's appearance at the College World Series, hit a solo homer in his first at- bat in the second inning. He would add a two-run shot to kick start a seven-run fourth. Sam Crowell hit a grand slam to close out the scoring in the fourth.

Grant Lung hit the first of his two home runs to leadoff the third. He would also double later in in the inning as the Larks sent 14 to the plate and scored nine to build a 11-1 lead.&nbsp;

Lung added a two-run blast to right in the fifth to finish 5-for-5 with five RBIs and five runs scored.

Lawson had three hits and drove in four in his Larks debut.

Starting pitcher Jake Fitzgibbons (1-0) tied a season-high with eight strikeouts and picked up the win. The Tennessee freshman allowed two runs on five hits over five innings.

Jose Velazquez and Trevor Munsch both pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Kyle Gibson showed the Kansas City Royals what an anomaly his Opening Day start against them was, and just how good he has been for the Texas Rangers the rest of this season.

Joey Gallo sent balls nearly 900 feet with two big swings.

Gibson had a season-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings, Gallo hit two massive homers and the Rangers beat Kansas City 8-0 on Saturday, ending a more than month-long stretch without winning a series — or even consecutive games.

Gibson (6-0) allowed only three base runners, on consecutive singles and a walk to start the fifth, before getting out of that bases-loaded jam.

It was the 16th consecutive start for Gibson without a loss, including his 2020 finale before the first Opening Day start of his career April 1 at Kansas City, when he gave up five runs while recording only one out after the Rangers had scored five times in the top of the first. The Royals never crossed the plate this time.

“This guy has been dominant,” manager Chris Woodward said. “Outside of the game one, he’s been absolutely dominant.”

The veteran right-hander, whose ERA was 135.00 after the opener in Kansas City, now leads the American League at 2.00 after allowing only 15 earned runs over 89.2 innings in his last 14 starts.

“It probably showed up a little bit more in my mind after that fourth inning when Kiner made that great play,” Gibson said. “I guess I’m always kind of thinking about that. I don’t ever want to give up a hit, a run. Whenever you go to the lineup the first time, and especially once you get into the fifth, it starts to creep into your head.”

The no-hit bid ended on Ryan O’Hearn’s leadoff single up to the middle to start the fifth. Kelvin Gutierrez then had an infield single before a walk to Jorge Soler. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Nate Lowe’s three hits included his first career triple in the majors as the Texas Rangers dominated their former All-Star Mike Minor and beat the Kansas City Royals 9-4 on Friday night.

Playing his 146th game in the big leagues, Lowe’s two-run triple highlighted a four-run fourth inning.

Rookie Jonah Heim matched career highs with three hits and two RBIs for Texas.

Dane Dunning (3-6) won for the first time since May 9, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. After allowing an RBI double to Carlos Santana that cut the Rangers’ lead to 4-2, Dunning stranded runners at second and third in the fifth when center fielder Adolis Garcia ran down Salvador Perez’s long flyball in front of the Texas bullpen in right-center.

Lowe’s slicing, opposite-field triple fell just in front of left fielder Hunter Dozier and rolled to the wall. Heim’s single completed the Rangers’ scoring in the fourth and he hit an RBI double in a five-run sixth.

Lowe is hitting .423 during a seven-game hitting streak after seeing his batting average drop from .289 on May 11 to .237 on June 11.

“Just getting back to being me,” Lowe said. “I went through a rough patch there, but that’s part of growing up, being a major league player and part of figuring out what I need to do to get better.”

Minor (6-5), an All-Star for the Rangers in 2019 who traded at the deadline in 2020, allowed a career-high nine earned runs in five-plus innings in his 197th career start. His 11 hits allowed tied a career high.

The Royals have lost three straight games and 15 of their last 19.

“Even when I made the pitches, they got hits,” Minor said. “That might have been one of my worst games statistically in my career.”

Royals manager Mike Matheny watched the 33-year-old Minor’s first three innings, allowing only two hits on 37 pitches, and, “I truly thought we were watching our first complete game of the season the way he was rolling.”

“We know Mike well. He was pretty good early on I felt like. Kind of got on that changeup. Got some big hits," Texas manager Chris Woodward said.

Whit Merrifield gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the third with a two-out triple to right-center that sailed just under the glove of a diving Garcia. The triple, Kansas City’s first hit of the game, came on an eight-pitch at-bat and extended Merrifield’s hitting streak to 11 games.

Royals LHP Danny Duffy, who last Wednesday made his first start since May 12 after recovering from a strained forearm, made his second relief appearance since 2016 and retired all three batters in the seventh with one strikeout.

Matheny said he still plans to start Duffy in the Royals’ next series at Boston, looking to get significant innings but not deep pitch counts.

scored six runs in the top of the 11th inning and beat the Hays Larks 11-5 Wednesday
night at Larks Park, snapping the Larks six-game win streak.

The Larks (11-2) commit eight errors and strand 13 baserunners.

The Collegians scored two runs
in each of the first two innings and built and early 4-0 lead. The Larks
rallied with two in the third on a Grant Schmidt two-run homer then three in the
fourth on a Brock Lummus two-run triple and wild pitch to take a 5-4 lead.

The Collegians tied the game
with a run in the sixth then took advantage of two errors then strung together
three-straight singles in the 11th.

⚾ Larks fall in extra innings to Boulder

NEW YORK (AP) — Aroldis Chapman bent over sharply and cursed at himself after blowing a save with a four-pitch bases-loaded walk and falling behind on an infield single.

Just 13 minutes later, the closer and the rest of the Yankees were all smiles. Gary Sánchez's tying home run off Greg Holland and Luke Voit's winning single that landed inches from the top of the left-field fence sent them running onto the field with yet another late come-from-behind win.

“I need to get in the weight room. These last two games I keep hitting the top of the wall,” Voit said with a chuckle after the Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5 Wednesday night in a game that see-sawed three times in the last two innings.

New York has won six of its last eight games, cutting a nine-game deficit in the AL East to 4 1/2 games behind first-place Boston ahead of the Yankees' first trip to Fenway Park this season. In five of the victories, the Yankees came from behind in the seventh inning or later.

New York came from behind three times Wednesday.

Ryan O'Hearn homered for the second straight day following his recall from the minors, putting Kansas City ahead with a two-run drive in the first off Michael King.

Clint Frazier tied the score in the fourth against Carlos Hernández with a two-run, opposite-field double off the base of the manual scoreboard in the right-field wall, which due to the coronavirus has not been used since 2019.

Carlos Santana gave the Royals a 3-2 in the eighth with the first home run off Zack Britton since the 2019 AL Division Series, only for Rougned Odor to hit a two-run homer in the bottom half against Jake Brentz.

Chapman (5-2) converted his first 11 save chances but has blown three of his last eight. He allowed a one-out single to Michael A. Taylor and a two-out bloop single to Whit Merrifield that put runners at the corners.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone went to the mound, then returned to the dugout and ordered an intentional walk to Santana.

“Probably not really what Chapman wanted to do there,” Sánchez said.

Rookie Sebastian Rivero, a rookie who is 0 for 7 in his career and entered in the fourth inning after Salvador Pérez took a foul tip off his mask, came up with the bases loaded. Chapman threw a fastball in the dirt, then bounced a slider into Sánchez's chest protector and then another fastball that sent dust flying. Chapman fired a fastball about a foot outside for a four-pitch walk and screamed.

On the very next pitch, O'Hearn checked his swing and hit a slow roller to third, just beating DJ LeMahieu’s throw to first. When Chapman reached the dugout after Jarrod Dyson's inning-ending groundout, he slammed his glove.

Aaron Judge struck out for the fourth time leading off the bottom half against Greg Holland (2-3), who got his fifth save Tuesday night in the Royals' series-opening 6-5 win.

Sánchez lined a fastball into the left-field seats for his 12th homer, his seventh in his last 22 games.

“I pride myself in not making two-strike mistakes and that's what burned me with the first one," Holland said.

Giancarlo Stanton singled to right, pinch-runner Tyler Wade advanced on a wild pitch and up came Voit, who homered Tuesday in his return from the injured list but struck out three times Wednesday, stranding the bases loaded in the seventh.

Voit fouled off a pair of two-strike sliders and reached down for a curveball and turned it around at 105 mph, sending it 370 feet off the wall. Wade scored standing up with Voit's first game-ending hit in the majors and New York's sixth walk-off win this season.

“This is the type of win,” Voit said, “coming back twice and winning it in a big way, to get us back on a good hot streak and rolling into the second half of the season.”

Holland has blown four of nine save opportunities.

“That ball was supposed to be in the dirt,” Holland said. “I thought the pitch was pretty close to hitting the dirt, but it must not have been close enough.”

Kansas City walked 11 batters, its most since July 5, 2019, against Washington, and New York's most since April 9, 2017, at Baltimore. Danny Duffy lasted two innings and 42 pitches in his return from a left flexor strain that had sidelined him since May 12. Duffy walked three, as did Hernández. Scott Barlow and Brentz walked two apiece, and Josh Staumont one.

“Hopefully,” Boone said, “we can continue to carry this.”

Fans booed umpires when they checked King for banned foreign substances after the second inning.

Royals: Pérez took a foul tip off the mask on Duffy’s fifth pitch of the game, with LeMahieu leading off the first. The 31-year-old Pérez, a six-time All-Star, has played in all 72 games this season. Metheny said he had a headache from the mask jamming his chin but was negative for a concussion.

Yankees: 3B Gio Urshela did not play, a day after he was hit in the left shin by Jake Brentz's pitch. The shin was swollen and sore.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State track and field
student-athlete Ryan Stanley is a finalist for the 2021 MIAA Men's Spring
Student-Athlete of the Year Award, presented by Summit Pointe Financial Group.
The award is the MIAA's highest honor for student-athletes during the spring
sports season, given to one female and one male.

This award temporarily replaces the annual Ken B. Jones
Award, which normally recognizes the top female and top male student-athlete in
the MIAA for all seasons. However, since fall sports did not have an
opportunity to post accolades for this academic year, the MIAA COVID-19 Task
Force implemented student-athlete of the year honors for both the winter and
spring seasons with the nomination and selection process structured identically
to the Ken B. Jones Award. Whitney Randall of FHSU Women's Basketball was named
the MIAA Women's Winter Student-Athlete of the Year earlier in 2021.

The award combines the athletic, academic, and
campus/community service accomplishments of the individuals. The voting
committee, which includes administrators from all MIAA member schools, reviews
an individual's career academic accomplishments, along with their athletic
accomplishments and campus/community service from the 2020-21 year. Individuals
must be a junior or senior in athletic eligibility and have a GPA of at least 3.25.

Male Finalists for the Spring Student-Athlete of the Year
Award are Kizan David of Lincoln (track and field), Blake Freeman of
Northeastern State (baseball), Ryan Stanley of Fort Hays State (track and
field), Dusty Stroup of Central Missouri (baseball), and Levi Wyrick of
Pittsburg State (track and field).

Female finalists for the Spring Student-Athlete of the Year
Award are Ashlan Burton of Central Missouri (track and field), Sydni Hawkins of
Missouri Western (softball), Trace Mosby of Pittsburg State (track and field),
Virgi Scardanzan of Washburn (track and field), and Gail Young of Northeastern
State (softball). Mattie Rossi, an All-America performer in the heptathlon, was
Fort Hays State's female nomination for the award.

Ryan Stanley was the NCAA Division II National Champion
during the 2021 outdoor track and field season in the pole vault. He cleared a
new school record 17 feet, 2.75 inches to tie for first place. He then cleared
the height again to win a jump off for the national title against Trivett Jones
of Angelo State (Texas). In the process, Stanley produced his fourth
All-America performance at FHSU and his second this year after finishing fourth
nationally during the indoor season. He is now a two-time All-America performer
in the pole vault both indoor and outdoor. He is also a four-time USTFCCCA
All-Region performer going back to 2019. Stanley set new FHSU records in the
pole vault both outdoor and indoor (16 feet, 11.5 inches) in 2021. He is only
the second individual in school history to clear 17 feet.

Stanley has been near perfect in the classroom in three
years at FHSU, compiling a 3.97 GPA as a Management major. The Bennington,
Kansas native is a three-time recipient of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award and
a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Holding a perfect 4.0 GPA
over his first two years at FHSU, he twice received the MIAA Academic
Excellence Award. He also earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2021 for
securing All-MIAA honors and holding at least a 3.5 GPA. Stanley is also a
three-time recipient of the FHSU Athletics Academic Excellence Award and a
six-time member of the Dean's Honor Roll at FHSU.

Stanley has also been very active on campus and in the
community. He was the male recipient of the Cerv's FHSU Student-Athlete
Distinguished Leadership Award in 2021. Stanley joined three other FHSU
students to design "MeHe" a mobile phone app centered on maintaining
positive mental health. The group won the 2020 Kansas Startup competition at
FHSU with their presentation. He has also served as a senator for the Robbins
College of Business and Entrepreneurship for three years. During the 2021-22
academic year, Stanley will serve as the FHSU Student Body Vice President after
being voted into office in 2020-21. On top of that, Stanley has been an active
leadership team member of Christian Challenge at FHSU over three years,
participating in multiple community service projects. He served the community
and FHSU Alumni through work as a VIP Ambassador under the direction of FHSU
President Dr. Tisa Mason for two years. This summer, he is on staff with
Project Apprentice, a discipleship program in Lawrence, Kansas focused on
discipline, service, and community.

FHSU with their presentation. He has also served as a senator for the Robbins
College of Business and Entrepreneurship for three years. During the 2021-22
academic year, Stanley will serve as the FHSU Student Body Vice President after
being voted into office in 2020-21. On top of that, Stanley has been an active
leadership team member of Christian Challenge at FHSU over three years,
participating in multiple community service projects. He served the community
and FHSU Alumni through work as a VIP Ambassador under the direction of FHSU
President Dr. Tisa Mason for two years. This summer, he is on staff with
Project Apprentice, a discipleship program in Lawrence, Kansas focused on
discipline, service, and community.The winners of the 2021 Spring Student-Athlete of the Year
award will be announced on Tuesday, June 29.

ST. JOSEPH, MO. —After a temporary relocation to Kansas City last year due to COVID-19, the Kansas City Chiefs have announced that their Training Camp will return to Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph this July.

The camp will be open to fans again, as this marks the Chiefs' 11th year of training camp at Missouri Western.

"The energy and excitement of Training Camp will be another welcome sign that we are returning to normal. It will set the stage for an exciting and engaging fall semester," said Missouri Western president Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy in a release.

The Chiefs also announced dates and times for all practices, which start on Wednesday, July 28 and conclude on Wednesday, August 18.

Nearly all training camp practices will be free to the public. Missouri Western will charge a $5 admission fee on three practice days – July 30, July 31 and August 8. There will be a $5 parking fee each of those days, and cash will be accepted for that.

All training camp tickets must be reserved in advance through the Chiefs Kingdom Rewards program at www.chiefskingdomrewards.com. Due to heightened demand, attendance at daily practice will be limited to provide the best fan experience.
