PARK CITY – Hays High junior Sarah Zimmerman earned a second-place
finish at 109 pounds Thursday at the 5-6A state wrestling championship
tournament in Park City.

After pinning her way to the championship, and a 3-0 record Wednesday,
Zimmerman lost to Larissa Garcia from Wichita North by a third-period fall.

Zimmerman beat Garcia for the regional championship earlier
this month. She finished 29-5.

At 143 pounds Lexi Burton bounced all the way back from losing
here first match of the day on Wednesday to finish sixth. 

She won three consolation matches by fall before losing in
the in the consolation semifinals and the fifth place match. She finishes the
season 22-16.

Both Addison Otte at 120 pounds and Katie Gutierrez at 132
pounds lost in the consolation quarterfinals Thursday. 

Otte finished the tournament 2-2 and 18-15 on the season.

Gutierrez also finished 2-2 and was 18-13 to finish the
season. 

Hays collected 71 team points and finished fifth.

At the 4-1A state tournament in Salina TMP’s Claudine Stein finished
1-2 for the tournament.

She won her first match on Wednesday but lost in the
championship quarterfinals and again in the consolation wrestlebacks on Thursday.
She finished the year 20-19.

After going 1-1 on the first day she bounced back with
consolation bracket wins in the consolation cross-bracketing and quarterfinals
but lost in the consolation semifinals. She bounced back with a win in the fifth-place
match.

At 132 pounds Maleah Vine finished the tournament 2-2 and Abbigail
Heifner at 101 pounds also failed to medal.

Plainville’s Zoe Brown earned a sixth-place finish at 138
pounds. 

Brown dropped her first match of the tournament but then won
three straight consolation matches before losing in the consolation semifinals
and the fifth-place match.

At 120 pounds Caxton Smyth went 2-2 at the state tournament
and failed to medal.

Stockton’s Ashlyn Hahn earned a third-place finish at 115
pounds.

Hahn advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday before losing. In
consolation action she won her final two matches to secure a third-place
finish.

At 191 pounds Raven Long went 0-2 for the Tigers.

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State did its part to stay in the MIAA regular season championship picture on Wednesday by defeating Missouri Western at Gross Memorial Coliseum 56-42. The Tigers moved into a three-way tie for first place, after Central Oklahoma lost by one point at home. It all comes down to Saturday to see if there will be an outright champion, or a share of the title. FHSU is now 22-4 overall and 17-4 in the MIAA.

The Tigers used their usual tough defense coupled with limiting possessions to slow down the Griffons' offensive attack. The Tigers initially took the lead and trailed only once when Will Eames of Missouri Western broke a 7-7 tie with a bucket in the early going.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6468">Jared Vitztum</a>&nbsp;responded with one of his five 3-point field goals on the night to put the Tigers back on top and they never let go of the lead from that point. Neither team shot over 35 percent from the field in the first half and the Tigers battled to a 21-17 lead at halftime.

The Tigers pushed their lead to double figures seven times in the second half. The Griffons were able to get the lead down to six with 3:28 to play, but the Tigers responded with a quick 5-0 burst to get the lead back to 11. FHSU closed the game on 6-0 run to create the 14-point final margin, which turned out to be the biggest lead of the night. Vitztum finished with a big double-double on Senior Night with 21 points and 16 rebounds. He became the first player in FHSU men's program history to total at least 1,500 points and 900 rebounds when he secured his seventh rebound of the game. However, by pulling down 16 rebounds, he moved to second all-time in rebounds at FHSU now with 909, passing Mike Pauls (907). Barton Snow is at the top of the list with 980. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6460">Kaleb Hammeke</a>&nbsp;was the only other Tiger to score in double figures in the low-scoring contest. He had 14, so he combined with Vitztum to generate 62.5 percent of the team's points. Hammeke also dished out a team-best eight assists.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6462">Bjarni Jonsson</a>&nbsp;was the next-closest to double figures with seven points. Eames was the only Griffon to reach double figures in scoring with 13 points. Taye Fields had a team-best nine rebounds. There will be no more than two MIAA regular season men's champions, as Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri State will face each other in the regular season finale on Saturday at 3:30 pm inside Bearcat Arena in Maryville. Central Oklahoma will be hosting Missouri Southern, also at 3:30 pm. FHSU, Northwest Missouri State, and Central Oklahoma have all mathematically locked up being the top three seeds at the MIAA Tournament. Now it's just a matter of sorting out what each team will be.&nbsp;&nbsp;

🏀 Tiger men defeat Griffons, tied for MIAA lead entering season finale

HAYS, Kan. - Sixth-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball erased a nine-point deficit over the final 12 minutes of regulation before beating Missouri Western in overtime on Senior Night, 78-69 (Feb. 23). The Tigers (24-3, 18-3 MIAA) now hold a half-game lead over Missouri Southern in first place in the MIAA standings, with the Lions to play Thursday before both teams wrap up the regular season on Saturday. Fort Hays State came away victorious for the 10th-consecutive time in overtime, while playing extra time for the first time in nearly two years. The Tigers outscored Missouri Western (20-7, 14-7 MIAA) by six in the fourth quarter and by nine in overtime to complete the come-from-behind win.

Despite hitting just 50 percent from the free-throw line over the first quarters, the Tigers were on point when it mattered most, hitting all eight of their attempts from the charity stripe over the final period of regulation and overtime.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6438">Olivia Hollenbeck</a>&nbsp;hit two with 3:15 on the clock in regulation to push the Tiger lead to four while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6437">Jaden Hobbs</a>&nbsp;buried 6-of-6 over the final 65 seconds of overtime to secure the victory.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The score was tied at 13-13 after one period after slow starts on both sides - Missouri Western hit just 27.8 percent from the floor (5-of-18), while the Tigers turned the ball over five times over the first 10 minutes.

Fort Hays State seemed to take control with an 11-0 run in the second quarter, including back-to-back buckets from Hollenbeck, but the Griffons closed the half with an 11-4 run to take a 29-28 lead into the locker room. The Tigers took a quick lead in the third quarter before the visitors pushed the lead to nine behind a 14-4 run. Hobbs kept the Tigers in it with a pair of 3-pointers just 76 seconds apart before MWSU took a 50-44 lead into the final quarter. Hollenbeck opened the frame with a layup off a pass from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6443">Katie Wagner</a>&nbsp;before Hobbs sank her third-consecutive triple, closing gap to one, 50-49.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6447">Lauren West</a>&nbsp;followed with a 3-pointer later in the period before hitting a jumper to tie things up at 58 with 5:54 to play.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6435">Cydney Bergmann</a>&nbsp;then gave the Tigers the lead with just over four minutes to play with a layup after a dish from Hollenbeck.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hollenbeck pushed the lead back to four with 68 seconds to play following a Griffon bucket, but Missouri Western scored the final four points of the game to send things to overtime. The Tigers called timeout with 18 seconds to go to draw up a play, but the attempt rattled out. The Griffons scored first in OT, but it was all Tigers after that. FHSU hit 4-of-5 from the floor in the extra period while limiting Missouri Western to 2-of-6 shooting and forcing three turnovers. West put the Tigers within one with a layup before&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6439">Whitney Randall</a>&nbsp;put them in front for good with a jumper. The senior playing in her final regular season home game added to the lead with a layup on the following possession before Hobbs finished things off by scoring the final eight points of the contest.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hobbs led the way with 22 points while dishing out seven assists, eclipsing both 1,000 points and 400 assists at FHSU&nbsp;and becoming the first Tiger in program history to reach both milestones. She is the 23rd player to score at least 1,000 points at Fort Hays State and the third with more than 400 assists. Hollenbeck added 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting alongside three assists, three steals, three blocks and a team-high seven rebounds, giving the Tigers multiple players with 20 or more points for the second time this season. Randall and West both had nine points, with Wagner chipping in eight points, six rebounds and five assists. Connie Clarke paced Missouri Western with 19 points and 14 rebounds, with Brionna Budgetts adding 17 points. Now with 1,329 career points, Randall's first basket helped her move into 10th place on the all-time scoring list at Fort Hays State. The Tigers hit 48.4 percent from the floor in the contest (30-of-62), moving to 17-0 this season with shooting better than 45 percent. The FHSU defense held Missouri Western to just 37.9 percent shooting (25-of-66) while forcing 18 turnovers. Fort Hays State reached 18 conference wins for the fifth time this season, a feat that has been accomplished just 13 times by an MIAA school since the Tigers joined the league in 2006 (UCM 3, once by five other schools). The win is head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1043">Tony Hobson</a>'s 306th victory at Fort Hays State, moving him into fourth place all-time amongst MIAA head coaches. Fort Hays State will look to clinch at least a share of the regular season MIAA Championship Saturday (Feb. 26) when the Tigers take on Northwest Missouri State in Maryville beginning at 1:30 p.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The senior playing in her final regular season home game added to the lead with a layup on the following possession before Hobbs finished things off by scoring the final eight points of the contest.&nbsp;&nbsp;Hobbs led the way with 22 points while dishing out seven assists, eclipsing both 1,000 points and 400 assists at FHSU&nbsp;and becoming the first Tiger in program history to reach both milestones. She is the 23rd player to score at least 1,000 points at Fort Hays State and the third with more than 400 assists. Hollenbeck added 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting alongside three assists, three steals, three blocks and a team-high seven rebounds, giving the Tigers multiple players with 20 or more points for the second time this season. Randall and West both had nine points, with Wagner chipping in eight points, six rebounds and five assists. Connie Clarke paced Missouri Western with 19 points and 14 rebounds, with Brionna Budgetts adding 17 points. Now with 1,329 career points, Randall's first basket helped her move into 10th place on the all-time scoring list at Fort Hays State. The Tigers hit 48.4 percent from the floor in the contest (30-of-62), moving to 17-0 this season with shooting better than 45 percent. The FHSU defense held Missouri Western to just 37.9 percent shooting (25-of-66) while forcing 18 turnovers. Fort Hays State reached 18 conference wins for the fifth time this season, a feat that has been accomplished just 13 times by an MIAA school since the Tigers joined the league in 2006 (UCM 3, once by five other schools). The win is head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1043">Tony Hobson</a>'s 306th victory at Fort Hays State, moving him into fourth place all-time amongst MIAA head coaches. 🏀 No. 6 Tiger women rally for OT win on Senior Night

All five girls wrestlers from Hays are still in contention
after the first day of competition Wednesday at their respective state wrestling
tournaments.

Hays High’s Sarah Zimmerman pinned her way to the
championship match Wednesday at 109 pounds. 

Zimmerman (32-4) opened the tournament with a first-period
fall, in just 54 seconds, over Luisa Duewel of Shawnee Mission Northwest. In
her championship quarterfinals match Zimmerman record a first-period fall, in
just less than two minutes, in a win over Catherin Duong of Olathe North. It
took Zimmerman just one minute and 15 seconds to record her third pin, this time
over Ashley Alonso of Dodge City in the championship semifinals.

Zimmerman will face Larissa Garcia (41-4) of Wichita North in
the championship match Thursday evening. 

The three other Hays High wrestlers, Addison Otte, Katie
Gutierrez and Lexi Burton lost a match on day one but are still in contention. 

At 120 pounds Addison Otte recorded a second-period fall
over Katina Keosybounheuang but then lost by fall in championship quarter
finals to Jenna Knight from Bonner Springs. Otte (18-15) will face Ella Weber of
Shawnee Mission West in the consolation wrestle backs Thursday morning.

Both Katie Gutierrez at 132 pounds and Lexie Burton at 143
pounds stumbled out of the gate with first-round losses but bounced back with wins
in the consolation first round to avoid elimination.

Gutierrez (18-13) at 132 pounds lost by a third-period fall
against Kamahni Jackson from Sumner Academy. She followed that with a second-period
fall against Aubrianna Barnes of Olathe North. She will face Brynn Lowe from

Burton at 143 pounds lost a 2-1 decision in her first match

TMP’s Claudine Stein went 1-1 in her first state wrestling
tournament Thursday. 

Stein (19-16) opened with a second-period fall victory over
Linsay Witt of Wellsville. The followed that with a loss by first-period fall

INDIANAPOLIS - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team is again ranked first in the second release of the 2022 NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, distributed on Wednesday (Feb. 23) by the NCAA office. This week's rankings look fairly similar to the first release, with the same 10 programs recognized again this time around. The top four teams all stayed in the same place, with the bottom six moving around slightly. Harding fell from fifth to 10th after two losses, while Missouri Southern, Minnesota State-Mankato and Nebraska-Kearney all moved up two spots to fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Missouri Western, FHSU's opponent Wednesday evening, dipped two spots to eighth after taking a loss while Central Missouri jumped from 10th to ninth. The Tigers are one of five MIAA programs listed amongst the top 10 teams in the region at this point of the season. Fort Hays State and St. Cloud State are tied for the fewest losses in the region with three, but the Tigers defeated SCSU earlier this season in Hays. The Northern Sun has three teams ranked in the top six, while the Great American Conference has two teams in the rankings. Fort Hays State has the top performance indicator in the region and the second-best in-region RPI behind SWOSU. The Tigers and the rest of the MIAA programs, along with the teams from the Great American Conference, still have two more games to go in the regular season. The Northern Sun, on the other hand, will open its conference tournament tonight before crowning a champion next Tuesday (March 1). This year's NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship will be back to a full field of 64 teams made up of eight eight-team regionals. The top seed in each region will have the opportunity to host the first three rounds of the tournament (March 11-14) before the eight regional champions meet up in Birmingham, Ala. for the Elite Eight (March 21-25). In the Central Region, the conference tournament champions from the MIAA, NSIC and GAC receive an automatic bid with the rest of the field filled with the top five remaining teams at-large. 🏀 Tiger women remain atop Central Region rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball is ranked No. 7 in the second set of Central Region Rankings, released by the NCAA on February 23. FHSU moved down one spot in the rankings this week, trading spots with Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Tigers remain in good position for a potential berth to the NCAA Tournament with one week remaining in the regular season. Fort Hays State is among seven teams with five or less losses in the Central Region. Six of those seven are in the latest NABC Top 25 national rankings, including FHSU, which shows the strength of the Central Region on a national level. No other region can boast having that many teams with five or less losses among their region rankings. The Tigers were 18-4 against NCAA Division II competition as of Sunday (21-4 record overall). FHSU went 3-0 since the last time the regional committee convened, defeating Lincoln twice and Central Missouri. The Tigers continue to hold the sixth-best performance indicator in the Central Region and sixth-best region RPI. They also carry a better Division II in-region, overall record, and strength of schedule than Southeastern Oklahoma. However, there is still another set of rankings to come out next week before the Tigers start MIAA Tournament play and the formulas can still shift further as more games are played this week. The top three schools from the NSIC continue to rank 1-2-3 in the second edition of the rankings. Augustana remains No. 1, Upper Iowa No. 2, and Minnesota Duluth No. 3. Central Oklahoma swapped spots with Northwest Missouri State this week in the No. 4 and 5 positions. UCO defeated NWMSU in the only head-to-head regular season matchup between the teams this season. Oklahoma Baptist is the only other GAC school listed in the rankings aside from Southeastern Oklahoma State. PLAINVILLE – Both the TMP-Marian boys and girls basketball teams wrapped
up Mid-Continent League titles Tuesday night with a pair of big wins over the
Plainville Cardinals.

Girls: TMP 100, Plainville 20 The TMP Lady Monarchs made a season-high 13 3-pointer field
goals and five players scored in double-figures as they reached the century mark
in a 100-20 win over Plainville.

TMP (17-3, 10-1 MCL) seniors Emilee Lane and Sophia
Balthazor scored 12 first quarter points each as the Monarchs outscored the
Cardinals (0-20, 0-11 MCL) 37-2 in the first quarter.

Balthazor scored 12 more of her game-high 29 points in the
second quarter as the Monarchs pulled away for a 66-11 halftime lead.

The Monarchs outscored Plainville 34-9 in the second half on
their way to a 100-20 victory.

Sophia Balthazor led all scorers with a career-high 29
points. Emilee Lane finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jaci VonLintel
added 16 points and Brooke Koenigsman added a career-high 12 points.

With the win the Monarchs clinched a share of the MCL regular
season title with Smith Center and Phillipsburg. All three teams finished with
a 10-1 record.

This season marks the fourth time since TMP joined the MCL,
that they won both the MCL tournament and regular season title. It’s the first
time since 2018.

Boys: TMP 59, Plainville 39 The TMP boys opened the game on a 17-5 run and Dylan Werth
scored 24 points to lead the Monarchs to a 59-39 win Tuesday in Plainville. The
win secures the MCL regular season title for the Monarchs.

TMP (16-4, 10-0 MCL) got out to a quick start, scoring the
games first nine points. Kade Harris scored eight first quarter points helping the
Monarchs build a 12-point first quarter lead at 19-7. TMP led by 10 after one
quarter at 21-11.

Leading 27-16 early in the second quarter Plainville (8-13,
2-8 MCL) cut the lead to four at 27-23.

After a TMP timeout, Dylan Werth scored a layup and helped TMP
close the first half on a 6-2 run to put the Monarchs up 33-25 at halftime.

TMP used a 12-2 run to start the second half and rebuild a
double-digit lead in the third quarter. TMP led 47-35 through three quarters.

The Monarchs then outscored Plainville 12-4 in the fourth
quarter on their way to a 59-39 win.

Dylan Werth and Plainville’s Anders Dewey each scored 24
points.

Gavin Unrein scored 14 points and Kade Harris added 13
points for the Monarchs.

Werth and Jace Wentling each pulled down a game-high nine
rebounds.

With the win TMP claimed their second MCL title in three
years and their fifth overall. Its also the fourth time that TMP has won both
the MCL tournament and the regular season title.

🏀TMP girls secure share of MCL title; boys win it outright with wins at Plainville

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Ochai Agbaji scored 23 points and passed Wilt Chamberlain on Kansas’ career scoring list, leading the No. 5 Jayhawks to a 102-83 win over Kansas State on Tuesday night.

Agbaji, a 6-foot-5 senior guard, now has 1,444 points in 110 games, 26th on Kansas’ all-time list. He passed Chamberlain with his 13th point of the first half. Chamberlain had 1,433 points in 48 games.

Christian Braun scored 20 points, Jalen Wilson added 17 and Mitch Lightfoot 13 for Kansas (23-4, 12-2 Big 12), which posted its 16th straight win over K-State at home.

Kansas is 203-94 all-time against Kansas State. The 203 victories are the most by any school over any opponent in NCAA Division I history. Oregon State’s 193 wins over Oregon ranks second.

Markquis Nowell scored 20 points, Nijel Pack, Selton Miguel and Mike McGuirl each had 13, and Mark Smith added 11 for Kansas State (14-13, 6-9), which finished a point shy of its season-high.

Kansas maintained its 1½-game lead in the Big 12 Conference over Baylor and Texas Tech. The Jayhawks will face Baylor on Saturday in Waco, Texas.

Kansas, which had to overcome a 17-point deficit in the second half of their victory in Manhattan in January, didn’t have to mount any comeback Tuesday. The Jayhawks scored the first bucket of the second half and their lead never dipped into single digits.

The Jayhawks’ 102 points matched a season-high. They shot 64.1% (41 for 64) from the field.

K-State stayed close early with 3-point shooting, connecting on 3 of 7 early on, including two straight by McGuirl. But Kansas used a quick 6-0 run to take an 18-13 lead.

HAYS - Hays High wrapped up a four game homestand and celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday by hosting Dodge City.

Both the girls teams came in ranked 9th in their respective classes and both teams 3rd.&nbsp;

Girls #9-6A Dodge City 41 - #9-5A Hays 40

Hays held Dodge City without a first quarter field goal but could only build a 7-1 lead after the first eight minutes. Jersey Johnson got the Indians to a 3-0 lead on her first shot of the game.&nbsp;

Hays held a six point lead at 13-7 in the second quarter and an 18-13 advantage with two minutes before halftime. The Red Demons rattled off the final seven points of the half and scored with five second remaining to claim a 20-18 lead at halftime.

The Red Demons led the entire third quarter and built their advantage to 34-26 with five minutes remaining in the game. Hays had their offense comeback to live and went on a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 38-36 lead with 1:10 left.

Dodge City reclaimed the lead at 39-38 just fifteen seconds later. The teams traded turnovers and missed shots over the next five possessions before Molly Martin knocked down two free throws for a 40-39 advantage with 7.8 seconds left.&nbsp;

Dodge City went the length of the court and had the ball knocked out of bounds with just two second remaining and neither team having a timeout left. The Red Demons got the ball in and Camree Johnson provided the last of her game high 15 points to lift Dodge City to a 41-40 victory.

Hays seniors Aleyia Ruder and Jersey Johnson each scored nine to lead the Indians who shot a season high 53%.

The Indians fall to 12-7 and 4-3 in conference play. Dodge City improves to 16-3, 5-2.

Boys #3-6A Dodge City 43 - #3-5A Hays 59

Dodge City made five of their first six shots and pulled out to a 12-5 lead in the first quarter and led 12-7 heading into the second. The Red Demons grabbed another multi-possession lead at 16-11 with 5:21 left in the the first half. Hays controlled the remainder of the time. 

Hays made seven of their next eight shots and their only free throw of the quarter for a 16-0 run that covered 5:00. That run put Hays up 27-16 at halftime.

The Indians continued the run through the first minute of the third quarter and a 32-16 lead. Dodge City used the next seven minutes of the game clawing out of that hole. The Red Demons put on a 20-12 run that closed the Indian lead down to 44-36 at the end of the third quarter.

Dodge City drew within five at 44-39 before the Indians put the game away. Carson Kieffer scored seven straight points for the Indians which ignited a game ending 15-7 run for a 59-43 win.

Jace Linenberger led all scoring with 26 points and tied a career high with 16 rebounds. Linenberger moved to 900 career points and tied Roger Casey (1980) for 6th all-time. He passes Sean Finn (2000) and Wes Simoneau (1997). He also becomes the sixth player in school history with 900 career points and 400 rebounds, joining Bill Giles (1977), Roger Casey (1980), Justin Johnson (1990), Matt Stramel (2006), and Brady Werth (2015).

Carson Kieffer scored 15 points. He also became the career assists record holder by passing Marcus Watts' record of 368.&nbsp;

Hays also claimed their third consecutive Western Athletic Conference title. It is the first time the Indians have done so since the formation of the league in 1984.

🏀 HHS boys and girls, TMP girls in final KBCA rankings

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team rose in both of this week's national polls after a pair of road wins over the weekend. The Tigers will head into the final week of the regular season ranked sixth in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll and eighth in the D2SIDA Media Poll, both released Tuesday. This is the second time that the Tigers (23-3, 17-3 MIAA) have been slotted sixth in the coaches poll. FHSU sat in sixth earlier this month (Feb. 1) before going on the road to grab wins over Newman and Central Oklahoma. The Tigers are 10-2 all-time when ranked sixth in the coaches poll, including a 2-1 record this season. Fort Hays State is now 134-34 when ranked in the poll during the DII era. Glenville State, the lone undefeated team in Division II, held on to the top spot in the coaches poll for the fifth week in a row while Texas A&amp;M-Commerce rose one spot to first in the media poll. The Tigers are the only MIAA program recognized in this week's coaches poll, while Missouri Southern is in the receiving votes category in the media ranks. Looking around the region, the Tigers are joined in the top 25 by No. 13 Saint Cloud State and No. 19 Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Huskies from SCSU are just behind FHSU in the media poll in ninth, while Minnesota-Duluth is ranked 15th. Fort Hays State will wrap up its home schedule Wednesday (Feb. 23) with Senior Night when Missouri Western comes to town at 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers will head into the final week of the regular season ranked sixth in the WBCA DII Coaches Poll and eighth in the D2SIDA Media Poll, both released Tuesday. This is the second time that the Tigers (23-3, 17-3 MIAA) have been slotted sixth in the coaches poll. FHSU sat in sixth earlier this month (Feb. 1) before going on the road to grab wins over Newman and Central Oklahoma. The Tigers are 10-2 all-time when ranked sixth in the coaches poll, including a 2-1 record this season. Fort Hays State is now 134-34 when ranked in the poll during the DII era. Glenville State, the lone undefeated team in Division II, held on to the top spot in the coaches poll for the fifth week in a row while Texas A&amp;M-Commerce rose one spot to first in the media poll. The Tigers are the only MIAA program recognized in this week's coaches poll, while Missouri Southern is in the receiving votes category in the media ranks. Looking around the region, the Tigers are joined in the top 25 by No. 13 Saint Cloud State and No. 19 Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Huskies from SCSU are just behind FHSU in the media poll in ninth, while Minnesota-Duluth is ranked 15th. The men are 14th in this week's rankings, while the women moved up two spots to 19th in the latest list. The men accumulated 55.77 team points from 13 nationally-ranked performances.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6513">Ryan Stanley</a>&nbsp;is second in the pole vault with his school-record mark of 17-1.75, while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6484">Nolan Churchman's</a>&nbsp;record total of 5,304 in the heptathlon is sixth-best nationally. Senior Gavin Meyers continues to hold down the top spot at 220. Sophomore Harley Zimmerman is second at 132 and senior Gavin Nutting is sixth at 285. The three along with five other teammates will compete at the 5A State Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Hartman Arena in Park City.

Plainville has five ranked in 3-2-1A. Junior Cohen Kaiser is fourth at 106, senior Logan Normandin is third at 132, senior Ben Hansen sixth at 182, junior Kyle Werner third at 195 and senior Draxton Hovis sixth at 220.

Ellis has three ranked. Sophomore Mason Younger is second at 120, senior George Crawford fifth at 160 and senior Mason Gottschalk third at 182.

Trego senior Tanner Sells is ranked fifth at 152.

Hoxie, who won the Norton regional Saturday, is No. 1 again this week in the team rankings. Norton is second, Hill City third and Plainville fourth. Smith Center is eighth and Ellis ninth.

The 3-2-1A State Tournament begins Friday at Fort Hays State's Gross Memorial Coliseum.
