MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Kansas State coach Jerome Tang grabbed a microphone and stood amid a sea of purple, moments after delirious fans had flooded the floor to celebrate the No. 13 Wildcats' 83-82 overtime win over second-ranked Kansas on Tuesday night.

“You have one court-storming,” the Wildcats' first-year coach told them over the din. “After this, we expect to win.”

Expectations are sure to soar in the Little Apple now.

After blowing a 14-point first-half lead, the Wildcats responded to every haymaker Kansas threw down the stretch. And when their game went to overtime, and players kept fouling out, Keyontae Johnson delivered for Kansas State, throwing down a go-ahead alley-oop dunk with 25 seconds left that ultimately proved to be the difference.

“In order to elevate," Johnson said later, “we have to beat teams like Kansas.”

Johnson and Desi Sills finished with 24 points apiece, and Nae'Qwan Tomlin had 15 points and 10 boards, as the Wildcats (16-2, 5-1 Big 12) bounced back from a blowout loss to TCU by beating the Jayhawks for the first time since Feb 5, 2019.

Jalen Wilson tried to take over in overtime for Kansas, converting a three-point play, knocking down a 3-pointer and making a pair of free throws for an 82-80 lead with just over a minute to go. But after Johnson made a free throw at the other end, Wilson missed a deep 3-pointer as the shot-clock expired to give the Wildcats another chance.

After a timeout, Markquis Nowell threw the lob that Johnson slammed down for an 83-82 advantage.

Kansas (16-2, 5-1) also called a timeout to set up its own finishing play, but normally sure-handed Dajuan Harris Jr. lost the ball in traffic, and the Jayhawks never got a chance to put up a potentially winning shot.

“If you told me we’d have the ball with a chance to win twice, that’s something I’d probably sell out for,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “That last possession is one possession I probably wish we could take back.”

Wilson played all 45 minutes and finished with a career-high 38 points for the Jayhawks. KJ Adams had 17 points and Gradey Dick had 16, though both of the key players were riding the bench at the finish after fouling out.

Both teams had chances to win in the final 30 seconds of regulation.

Kansas had possession first with 23 seconds to go and the game tied at 72, only to watch Harris lose control near the midcourt line — much like he did at the finish to overtime. The Wildcats grabbed the loose ball and pitched it ahead to Johnson, but the star forward missed a wild shot at the rim just before the buzzer sounded.

Johnson wouldn't miss when he got another winning chance in overtime.

It was the most anticipated Sunflower Showdown in years, drawing a capacity crowd that snaked around Bramlage Coliseum hours before tipoff as it waited to get in. and it was the less-regarded Wildcats rather than the defending national champions that demonstrated early poise and precision.

Kansas State made its first five 3-pointers and shot 52% from the field in the first half. It stuffed Wilson, the Big 12's top scorer, three times before he made a basket. And at one point, the Wildcats led by as many as 14 points.

“They were shooting lights-out,” Adams said.

Yet there's a reason the Jayhawks entered the night 29-5 in Bramlage Coliseum.

They always seem to deal with the pressure there.

Wilson finally got on track, scoring 12 in the first half, and Adams found success with floaters in the lane, pouring in 15 by the break. The Jayhawks eventually closed down the perimeter, forcing Kansas State to unsuccessfully drive to the basket, and they slowly trimmed away at their deficit, closing within 44-39 by halftime.

Despite foul trouble, the Jayhawks eventually made it all the way back, taking their first lead since the opening minutes at 59-57 with just under 8 minutes to go. But neither team was willing to give up down the stretch.

That's why 40 minutes wasn't enough to decide it.

“The great thing about basketball is we’ll have another game in two days, three days. We can't dwell on this,” Wilson said quietly. “We have another good team coming up and we’ll see them again. That's the beauty of the Big 12.”

Kansas hung around despite foul trouble, going 24 of 34 on free throws and shooting 6 of 29 from the 3-point arc. The Jayhawks did it by turning around early turnover trouble and effectively getting to the rim on offense, though they weren't able to do that given one last chance in overtime.

Kansas State relies heavily on Nowell to make things happen, particularly on offense, and his worst games have led to losses. He was held to 13 points by Butler and committed five turnovers against TCU. But despite scoring just four points against Kansas, he piled up seven assists with none more important than the last.

Kansas returns home to play No. 14 TCU on Saturday. Kansas State plays Texas Tech the same day.

🏀 Johnson alley-oop dunk in overtime lifts No. 13 K-State past No. 2 Kansas

SMITH CENTER – The TMP-Marian girls could not overcome a slow
start Tuesday as the Smith Center Lady Red came away with a 60-51 win in the
MCL tournament quarterfinals.

Smith Center outscored the Monarchs 11-2 to start the game
as they were able to pick apart the Monarchs press early. TMP closed within
five at 11-6 midway through the first quarter but Smith Center took a 10-point
lead into the second quarter at 19-9

The Monarchs again got it to six to open the second quarter thanks
to Graycen Shippers, who scored four of her career-high 16 points, helping the
Monarchs close the score to 19-13. But Smith Center answered right back. 

The Lady Red went on an 8-0 to build their largest lead of
the game at 14 at 27-13. They again led by 14 at 29-15 before the Monarchs
briefly closed within eight but TMP again trailed by 10 at halftime 33-23.

Smith Center built another 14 point lead to open the third
quarter at 37-23 and although TMP was able to get as close as eight at 37-29
they trailed by 11 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter TMP got as close as six with just
under 90 second to play but Smith Center made enough free throws down the
stretch for the 60-51 victory.

TMP’s Jaci VonLintel scored a game-high 17 points.

TMP will face Norton in the consolation semifinals on Thursday
at the Stockton High School.

🏀 Monday's high school results

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs had to rally from down double-figures
and a Kade Harris field goal in the final seconds lifted TMP to a 48-46 win
over Hoxie Monday in the MCL tournament quarterfinals at Al Billinger
Fieldhouse in Hays.

The TMP boys hosted Hoxie, for their second game against the
Indians in less than a week, and got off to slow start offensively. 

TMP (6-2, 3-0 MCL) made just one of the first seven field
goals, a Joey Mindrup three-pointer as Hoxie opened the game on a 9-3 run.

Dylan Werth was able to answer with five straight of his own
to cut the lead to just one at 9-8 but Hoxie took a 13-8 lead into the second quarter.

The Indians (6-4, 1-2 MCL) added a pair of free throws for a
15-8 lead. TMP was able to tie the game at 25 late in the first half but each
time the Monarchs were able to close the deficit Hoxie had an answer. That
included a pair of three pointers down the stretch from Brady Jones who gave
the Indians a 28-25 lead at halftime. He finished with five three pointers and
tied Miles Baalman for a game-high 21 points.

Hoxie extended their lead to a game-high 11 on a 9-1 run to
open the second half.

Facing their largest deficit of the game the Monarchs closed
the third quarter and opened the fourth on a 19-5 run to take a 44-42 lead.
During the stretch Harrison Lowe hit his second three pointer of the game and
Griffin Schumacher hit a pair of three pointers. 

But again, Hoxie came back to tie the game at 44 and then took
the lead with just under two minutes to play on a pair of Baalman free throws
at 46-44.

Werth tied the game at 46 with a layup inside with 90 seconds
to play and then after an empty offensive possession for Hoxie, TMP’s Kade
Harris knocked down a jumped from just inside the three-point line with 3.8
second to play putting TMP up 48-46. 

Hoxie’s inbound pass on the ensuing possession went out of
bounds and the Monarchs held on for the 48-46 victory.

TMP’s Dylan Werth finished with a team-high 15 points and 12
rebounds. 

TMP will play Russell in Friday semifinals in WaKeeney after
the seven-seed Broncos beat No. 2 seed Norton Monday.

The top-seed Hill City beat Oakley 59-44 and will play No. 4
Phillipsburg after they beat five-seed Trego Monday 44-40.

IRVING, Texas&nbsp;– Kansas sophomore KJ Adams has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week in a vote by a media panel which covers the league. It is the first conference weekly honor for the Austin, Texas, forward.

In the win 79-75 against Oklahoma on Jan. 10, Adams scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-13 (61.5%) shooting with six rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. It was Adams’ first 20-point game of his career. In the 62-60 win versus No. 14 Iowa State on Jan. 14, Adams made the game-winning shot with 10 seconds remaining. He ended the contest with 15 points on 6-of-9 (66.7%) shooting with six rebounds, an assist, steal and blocked shot. For the week, Adams averaged 18.5 points, six rebounds and shot 63.6 percent from the field.

One of the most improved players in college basketball, Adams leads Kansas with 65.1 shooting percentage in 2022-23. He is averaging 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game overall and 16.0 ppg and 4.5 rpg in Big 12 contests. On last season’s NCAA National Championship team, Adams averaged 1.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 37 games played.

Adams marks the fourth Big 12 weekly honor for a Jayhawk in 2022-23. Redshirt-junior forward Jalen Wilson was the Big 12 Player of the Week on Dec. 5, while freshman guard Gradey Dick has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice, on Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.

🏀 KU's KJ Adams named Big 12 Player of the Week

&nbsp;SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Twelve proposals were voted on during the Division
II business session on Saturday, January 14th, at the 2023 NCAA Convention in
San Antonio, Texas. 
Eight of the proposals were sponsored by the Division II Presidents Council and
four were membership-sponsored. For a proposal sponsored by the Division II membership
to be voted on at an NCAA Convention, it must have at least 15 active Division
II schools or two Division II conferences on behalf of 15 or more of their
active member schools as sponsors.&nbsp; 
The MIAA and its Commissioner, Mike Racy, sponsored three proposals during the
Division II business session: Proposal No. 2023-9, Proposal No. 2023-10, and
Proposal No. 2023-11. 
Two of the three proposals were passed and will go into effective at the
beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year. 
Proposal No. 2023-9 specified that a signed prospective student-athlete and a
student-athlete may participate in up to two hours per week of individual
workout-sessions with a member of the coaching staff beginning July 5th through
the start of the institution’s fall term, for a period up to three weeks,
provided the request for such assistance is initiation by a signed prospective
student-athlete or student-athlete. This proposal was opposed during the
Division II business session. 
Proposal No. 2023-10 was a football specific proposal with the intent to permit
a scrimmage against a four-year collegiate institution during spring practice
as one of the three permissible 11-on-11 scrimmages to occur on or after the
10th day of spring practice. Commission Racy’s proposal further specified that
participation in the scrimmage does not trigger use of a season of competition,
provided a student-athlete in question was academically eligible during the
segment in the same academic year that concluded with the NCAA Championship. This
proposal was passed with 70 percent of the vote in favor for change. 
Proposal No. 2023-11 was also football specific. It specified that a
student-athlete representing a Division II institution, in their initial year
of collegiate enrollment, may participate in up to three contests in a season
without using a season of competition. This proposal was passed with 92 percent
of the vote in favor of the change. 
“It is great to see legislative concepts initiated and developed by Division II
football coaches gain support and sponsorship by Division II conferences and
ultimately receive overwhelming approval by football schools on the convention
floor,” said Commissioner Racy. “This grassroots process is exactly how the
Division II legislative system is supposed to work and I am happy that the MIAA
could play a leadership role in enhancing the sport of football for our coaches
and student-athlete.”

MIAA proposals gain passage at NCAA meetings

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State overcame a sluggish offensive performance and 20-rebound differential to knock off Nebraska-Kearney 57-55. Kaleb Hammeke hit a layup with six seconds to play to give the Tigers the lead. The Lopers missed a 3-pointer at the horn to give FHSU the win.&nbsp;FHSU is now 12-5 overall and 7-4 in the MIAA. UNK drops to 3-13 overall, 1-9 in the MIAA.

The Lopers jumped out to an early 11-2 lead but the Tigers countered with a 15-2 run to build a 17-13 with a little over eight minutes to play in the first half. Their lead grew to five twice before UNK battled back to tie the game 28-28 at halftime. After the Lopers took back the lead over the first seven minutes of the second half, the Tigers responded with eight straight points from Traejon Davis to go up 38-35 with 12 minutes to play. Davis went 5-for-5 from the floor including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and scored 15 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Down six, brothers Kaleb and Lucas Hammeke helped the Tigers tie the game with a couple of clutch conventional 3-point plays.&nbsp;Kaleb had his at the 3:09 mark to cut the deficit to three. Lucas knotted the game up at 2:35. The Lopers hit a 3-pointer with just over two minutes remaining to take the lead back but the Tigers countered with four-straight points to go up one. Kaleb Hammeke hit&nbsp;another layup off an assist from Davis, then Bjarni Jonsson&nbsp;had a steal and a fast-break layup to put the Tigers up one. UNK hit another 3-pointer and took a two-point lead with a minute to go.

The brother tandem came up big for the Tigers once again as Kaleb found Lucas on a cut underneath the basket to tie the game. UNK missed a shot and it set up the late-game heroics for Kaleb. Kaleb Hammeke finished with 18 points to lead the Tigers, Davis added 15, and Lucas Hammeke came off the bench to score seven in the final 12 minutes. Darrian Nebeker led the Lopers with 14 points. Sean Evans and Winston Cook each added 12.&nbsp;

UP NEXT The Tigers head on the road this next week for their only meetings of the season with Washburn and Emporia State. The Tigers take on the Ichabods in Topeka on Wednesday night then the Hornets in Emporia on Sunday.

finish and three second place finishes and won the 2023 Girls Senior Prairie
Classic Saturday at the Hays High gym. The Indians scored 156 points, 57 more

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — KJ Adams scored in the paint, breaking a tie with under 12 seconds left and No. 2 Kansas held off No. 14 Iowa State 62-60 Saturday.

Iowa State had a last shot to win, but Caleb Grill's 3-point attempt caromed off the rim at the buzzer.

“I don’t know that this many close games helps you in the postseason," Kansas coach Bill Self said. “Close games help you because you put yourself under duress, but I would welcome anything that’s a win. We don’t go into any game thinking it’s going to be easy."

“Today was Iowa State, then we’re at K-State, ranked 11th, TCU, Baylor, Kentucky then K-State and Iowa State right after that. That’s a joke. There’s not going to be any (easy) games," he said.

The Jayhawks commemorated 125 years of Kansas basketball, with more than 160 former players, coaches and staff at Allen Fieldhouse. They saw it go down to the last second.

“Caleb pulled up for a tough shot and it didn't fall,” Iowa State coach TJ Otzelberger said

“Credit to them. They were able to make one more play in a really good game to come out for the victory,” he said.

Kansas (16-1, 5-0 Big 12) was led by Gradey Dick with 21 points. Jalen Wilson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Adams had 15 points.

Gabe Kalscheur scored 23 points for the Cyclones (13-3, 4-1). Osun Osunniyi chipped in 14.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to build more than a four-point lead in the second half. There were 12 lead changes in the second half alone.

Kansas took a 59-57 lead with just under two minutes remaining on a put-back by Wilson.

After an Iowa State miss, Kansas ran 25 seconds off the shot clock before putting up a contested 3-pointer. Several offensive rebounds resulted in Adams shooting two free throws with 1:03 left, and he made one for a three-point lead.

Kalscheur tied it with a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left. Adams then powered inside to put Kansas ahead.

“It just kind of played out. Thankfully I made the shot," Adams said.

“That was a high-level game,” Self said. “You saw two teams that enjoyed playing in a tight game like that in an atmosphere like that. No easy baskets. I wish we would have shot it better. But they're good."

“The building was great. To win with so many guys back for the reunion will definitely make tonight a lot more pleasant,” he said.

Kansas went on a 12-0 run to seize control early, but Iowa State rallied and closed to 29-28 at halftime. The Jayhawks took just 22 shots before the break and failed to get an offensive rebound in the first half.

Iowa State: The Cyclones should be a factor in the Big 12 race to the end. They can win on the road and Hilton Coliseum is one of the toughest venues in the conference.

Kansas: The Jayhawks always get their opponents' best shot, but it often doesn't matter. Head coach Bill Self still has as many conference titles as home losses in his 20 seasons at Kansas.

Iowa State: The Cyclones return home to face No. 10 Texas on Tuesday night.

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team rallied from a 13-point first half deficit Saturday vs. No. 19 Nebraska-Kearney but the Tigers come up one point short, losing 53-52 to the Lopers at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers (13-6, 8-3 MIAA) had a chance to win the game on their last possession but a Katie Wagner free throw line jumper fell short helping the Lopers (16-3, 9-2 MIAA) escape with their third-straight road win in Hays. For a third-straight game, Fort Hays State struggled out of the gate, scoring a season-low seven points in the first quarter on 3-of-11 shooting. Clary Donica knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter to spark the comeback. A 13-2 run closed the gap to two late in the quarter but the Lopers scored five of the final six points for a 32-26 halftime lead.

UNK opened the second half on a 12-6 run, building the lead back to 12 before the Tigers answered with an 18-2 run over the next 11 minutes to build a four-point lead. Sydney Golladay tied the game with a layup before Emma Ruddle&nbsp;gave the Tigers their first lead at 5:43 in the fourth quarter with a jumper. The Lopers scored five-straight to regain a one-point lead with 2:15 to play. After a pair of empty possessions by both teams, Fort Hays State went back on top 52-51, with 32 seconds to go after a stick-back layup from Olivia Hollenbeck. Sarah Schmitt answered with a driving layup on the other end with eight seconds to play, giving the Nebraska-Omaha transfer a game-high 18 points and putting the Lopers in front by one. After the Tigers called a timeout to advance the ball Wagner's pull-up jumper from the free-throw line rattled in and out to give the Lopers the victory. It's the first time the Tigers lost back-to-back home games in the same season in 12 years.

FHSU finished the game shooting 35.1 percent from the floor (20-of-57), including 30.4 percent from inside the arc (14-of-46) and 54.5 percent from 3-point range (6-of-11). Both teams struggled from teh free throw line, FHSU went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) and UNK knocked down just 4-of-12 (33.3 percent). The Lopers outrebounded the Tigers, 40-30. The Tiger defense forced the Lopers into a season-high 17 turnovers, with FHSU scoring 15 points off those Loper miscues. The Tigers turned the ball over just 10 times on the day after racking up five turnovers in the first quarter. Donica led the Tigers with 12 points, while Wagner added 11 points and six rebounds. Hollenbeck grabbed a team-high nine rebounds alongside eight points.

UP NEXT The Tigers will hit the road next week to battle Washburn in Topeka, Kan. on Wednesday before traveling to Emporia, Kan. to take on the Hornets on Sunday.&nbsp;&nbsp;

STOCKTON – The TMP-Marian Monarchs girls outscored Hill City 22-0 to
open the game and never trailed on their way to a 49-15 win over the Ringnecks
Saturday in the first MCL tournament feather-bracket game of the day at
Stockton Grade School.

Julianna Baalman hit her first three-pointer of the season
off the opening tip putting TMP up 3-0. 

After a Jaci VonLintel field goal Hannah Garcia added a
three-pointer of her own for an 8-0 TMP lead. 

The Monarchs run continued as they led 18-0 at the end of
the first quarter and 22-0 before Hill City got on the scoreboard with 5:25 to
play in the first half. 

TMP led 33-6 at the end of the first half.

Hill City cut the TMP lead to 35-10 to start the third
quarter but TMP answered with an 11-2 run to end the third quarter and led
46-12.

TMP, with a running clock to end the game picked up the 49-15
victory.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Eddie Lampkin Jr. slammed both of his hands on the court after a layup during TCU's early go-ahead run, doing his best to work the home fans into more of a frenzy. All of his inside baskets helped, too.

Lampkin scored a season-high 17 points, including back-to-back layups on passes from Mike Miles Jr. in another big burst, and the 17th-ranked Horned Frogs beat No. 11 Kansas State 82-68 on Saturday to end the Wildcats' nine-game winning streak.

“I've been telling them I've been open. Now they're trusting me,” the 6-foot-11, 263-pound Lampkin said of his teammates. “They're trusting me better, and my confidence is getting better every game.”

Emanuel Miller scored 23 points and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=35446148">Miles had 13 points with 11 assists</a>&nbsp;for the Frogs (14-3, 3-2 Big 12), who were coming off back-to-back losses after an 11-game winning streak of their own. Damion Baugh added 11 points.

“I wasn't making shots early, so you've got to do something else to affect the game,” said Miles, who entered as the Big 12's second-leading scorer at 19.5 points a game.

Kansas State (15-2, 4-1) had gone from unranked to the verge of the top 10 after winning three consecutive games against Top 25 teams. The Wildcats beat Oklahoma State in their first home game as a ranked team in four years on Tuesday, then jumped out to a 11-6 lead in their first road game before Lampkin and TCU took over.

Keyontae Johnson had 18 for the Wildcats, who trailed by as many as 25 points midway through the second half before a late surge when Markquis Nowell scored 14 of his 16 points in the final 5 1/2 minutes. Nowell was coming four consecutive 20-point games.

“Panic about what?” first-year Wildcats coach Jerome Tang said, responding to a question postgame. “I don’t know our record, but I know we have two losses. There’s nothing to panic about. I’ve got a veteran group. I’ve got a bunch of winners in a locker room, both on the staff and on the team. And this is the Big 12.”

Lampkin had back-to-back layups on passes from Miles during TCU’s second 13-2 run before halftime. He took an inbound pass from Miles, who then stole the ball from Nowell and was in the lane when he made a leaping no-look pass to Lampkin for another layup to make 32-21.

It was during their earlier 13-2 run, which took the Frogs from a five-point deficit to leading for good, when Lampkin followed his layup with his hand-banging on the floor. He finished 6-of-7 shooting with a dunk and five layups.

Kansas State: The Wildcats shot 43.1% (28 of 65), but had 20 turnovers, including seven by Johnson and six by Nowell — both season highs. K-State was down 22 and Nowell had only two points before a 3-pointer with 5 1/2 minutes left that he followed with two quick layups.

TCU: The Frogs played their fourth consecutive Top 25 opponent, and split those games. The two losses were by a combined six points, 69-67 at home to Iowa State before they blew an 18-point lead in a 79-75 loss at No. 10 Texas.

TCU outscored the Wildcats 32-13 on fast-break points, some of that while turning K-State’s turnovers into 26 points.

“We really got to the aggressiveness and the team defense going and that’s where we got the turnovers and the transition once again,” TCU coach Jamie Dixon said. “It’s kind of fun when you spend all summer working on something you want to get better and it comes to fruition.”

Kansas State won't move into the top 10 for the first time since March 2013, but the Wildcats will still be solidly ranked in the new poll Monday. The Frogs were unchanged after a loss last week, and may be that way again when they will be ranked for the seventh consecutive poll.

Kansas State hosts second-ranked defending national champion Kansas on Tuesday night.

TCU is on road twice next week, at West Virginia on Wednesday before playing at Kansas on Saturday.

The Tigers enter at 11-5 overall, 6-4 in the MIAA, while the Lopers are 3-12 overall, 1-8 in the MIAA. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m., which follows the women's contest at 2 p.m. The Tigers are looking to bounce back from a road loss at Missouri Western on Tuesday. The result pushed the Tigers down into fifth place in the MIAA standings, currently tied with Northeastern State. FHSU is one of five teams in the MIAA with 11 or more wins overall and also one of five currently six or more games above .500 overall. Fort Hays State seeks a fourth straight win over Nebraska-Kearney. The Tigers swept the regular season series between the teams last year by scores of 64-46 in Hays and 71-56 in Kearney. The Tigers won the latter of two meetings during the 2020-21 season, 79-68 in Hays, which started their current three-game streak against the Lopers. FHSU leads the all-time series by 30 games, 84-54, which includes a strong 58-12 advantage in Hays. Fort Hays State now leads NCAA Division II in scoring defense at 57.6 points allowed per game. The Tigers have held nine of 16 opponents this season inside of 60 points. Indiana (Pa.), the nation's top ranked team and still undefeated, slipped to second allowing 57.9 points per game. The MIAA has seven schools that sit among the top 25 in scoring defense at this point as Central Oklahoma and Northwest Missouri State join FHSU among the top 10. Fort Hays State is also among the top 10 in Division II for field goal percentage defense (39.1 percent), joining Central Oklahoma (37.3 percent) and Emporia State (38.8 percent). Fort Hays State reached 650 wins inside Gross Memorial Coliseum, now in its 50th&nbsp;season of basketball, in the win over Pittsburg State last Saturday. FHSU is 650-126 all-time inside the coliseum, holding a staggering .838 win percentage in the venue. The coliseum opened prior to the 1973-74 season. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/kaleb-hammeke/6897">Kaleb Hammeke</a>&nbsp;leads the Tigers in scoring at 16.0 points per game and ranks seventh in the MIAA.
