Clarence Charles Pfeifer, age 91, of WaKeeney, KS,
formerly of St. Peter, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025,
at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.

Clarence was born on October 7, 1933, in St. Peter to Frank
J. and Catherine (Dinkel) Pfeifer.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army,
assigned to Charlie Battery, 9th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Missile Battalion
during the Cold War era. He was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, CA.
After completing his service, he returned home to St. Peter, where he spent
many years working alongside his father and brothers at Pfeifer Service
Station.

On May 7, 1958, Clarence married the love of his life,
Thelma Zerr, at the Catholic Church in Park, KS. They recently celebrated 67
wonderful years of marriage in May 2025.

Clarence loved his family deeply. He also loved farming and
spent many years working the land. He enjoyed visiting with customers at the
service station, always ready for a good conversation. He had a passion for
collecting antique tractors.

Clarence was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic
Church in St. Peter and later joined Christ the King Catholic Church in
WaKeeney. He was a proud member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and lived
out his faith with quiet strength and service.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma, and their children:
Arnold Pfeifer of Englewood, CO; Jeanetta McDonald of Hays, KS; Randall Pfeifer
(Michelle) of Hill City, KS; Leon Pfeifer (Beverly) of Hays; Terry Pfeifer of
Prague, OK; and Norman Pfeifer (Renee) of Littleton, CO.

He was a proud grandfather to Michael McDonald (Julie),
Tyler McDonald, Bre Patton (Jeff), Ryan Pfeifer (Kristen), Marcus Pfeifer
(Anissa), Eric Pfeifer (Kiley), Stephanie Black (Kevin), Adam Pfeifer (Brooke),
Kyle Pfeifer (Baylee), Timothy Pfeifer, and Derek Pfeifer. Clarence also leaves
behind 16 great-grandchildren; his brother, Lloyd Pfeifer (Linda); sisters,
Caroline Flax and Catherine Heier (Felix); sisters-in-law, Anna Pfeifer,
Alfreda Pfeifer, and Rosalie Pfeifer; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert
Pfeifer, Alvin Pfeifer, and Allen Pfeifer; and sisters, Helen Zimmerman and
Pauline Zerr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from
5:00–7:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N 12th St., WaKeeney, KS, with the
Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 412
N 9th St., WaKeeney, KS. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery
at WaKeeney at approximately 11:15 a.m. A small repast will be held at Christ
the King Parish Hall following the committal, where family and friends are
invite

Mary Ann Gebert, 83,&nbsp; of
Hays, Kansas, died Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Westview Health Care Center
in Derby, Kansas.

Mary Ann &nbsp;was born on
January 31, 1942 in Hays, Kansas, of Jacob and Angela (Leiker) Burgardt and
spent her childhood in Pfeifer, Kansas.&nbsp; She graduated from high school in
Hays. She lived in Prescott, Arizona for many years before returning to Hays,
Kansas where she lived until recently moving to Derby, Kansas. 

Throughout the years Mary Ann
worked in Customer Service and was a devoted senior companion. She enjoyed
doing photography, working word puzzles and going to church services. She loved
spending time with her family and friends and she loved the Lord. 

Survivors include her children
Leslie (Georgia) Pfannenstiel of Wichita, Loel Pfannenstiel of Wichita, Clarice
Hanes of Chino Valley, Arizona and son-in-law Wayne Hays of Ponca City,
Oklahoma; grandchildren Kalebb Rakyta, Dallas Pfannenstiel, Elizabeth Diamanti,
Andrew Elliott; great grandchildren Noen Dimante and Makayla Moore; also many
nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by
her parents, Jacob and Angela Burgardt; daughter Amy Hays; and brothers and
their wives Nick (Alberta) Arnold, Norman (Freida) Burgardt, Earl Burgardt,
James (Theona) Burgardt, and Edward Burgardt. 

A Celebration of Life will be
planned for a later date.

Michael 'Mike' Suppes, 72, Hays, died Friday, May 30, 2025 at Select
Specialty Hospital in Wichita.

He was born
September 2, 1952 in Great Bend, the son of Severin and Rose (Billinger)
Suppes.&nbsp; He was a member of St. Francis
of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor and the St. Francis Third Degree Knights of
Columbus.

As a child, when Mike wasn't bonding
with his brother by picking on their little sister, he was biting junkyard dogs
and running through his babysitter’s glass door leaving a scar on his
nose.&nbsp; When he was 12, he rode a train
from Livermore, California to Victoria, Kansas where he lived with his Grandpa
Billinger who taught him the colorful old-time sayings that we all knew and
loved.&nbsp; He spent the weekends on the farm
in Liebenthal with his grandparents on the Suppes side, getting in trouble with
his cousin Suzie for playing on the rope in the barn.

After a year, Mike went back to
California where he earned a reputation for not liking bullies and for standing
up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. He was known by name as
someone not to be messed with.&nbsp; He then
joined the hippy movement in the San Francisco area where he expanded his mind
and his taste in clothes.&nbsp; He moved from
denim and slicked back hair to bell bottoms and love beads.&nbsp; He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the
Vietnam Era where he and his brother were stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington
State.&nbsp; After leaving the Army, he
ditched the barber and hit the road with his newfound love for Harley Davidson
motorcycles.&nbsp; During this period of open
road freedom and keg parties he met his future bride, Beatrice “Bea” Reeh.&nbsp; 

Mike and Bea were married a year
later, on June 17, 1978 in Victoria, and they quickly started the task of
making a home and family, welcoming their two children, Nick and Natalie.&nbsp; Mike loved his family and having children
around.&nbsp; For the next 20 years it was
dance classes, Cub Scouts, sporting events, coaching, fishing, hunting, and his
personal favorite, family camping trips.&nbsp;
Family was his love and way of life. 

After putting his two kids through
school, it wasn't long before he was gifted with his first grandchild and every
three years thereafter, he was gifted with another fishing buddy.&nbsp; With loving arms, he welcomed his four
grandchildren, Alexa, Adam, Eliana, and Gage.&nbsp;
He was again allowed to rinse and repeat the wonderful times of sports,
outdoors, and time spent with those he loved. 

Enjoying his retirement, Mike spent
the rest of his years in bibs, doing what he loved most: fishing, camping,
woodworking, and spending his time with loved ones.&nbsp; He will be missed.

Survivors
include his wife Bea of Hays, son, Nick Suppes (Amanda) of Wichita Falls, TX,
daughter, Natalie Suppes-Armbrister (Garrett Keil) of Hays, his brother, Joe
Suppes (Sunny) of Vernonia, OR, his sister, Marilyn Pfannenstiel and husband
Mike of Munjor, four grandchildren, Eliana Suppes, Gage Suppes, Alexa
Armbrister (Conner Staab), Adam Armbrister, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was
preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Adam Pfannenstiel.

Mass of
Christian Burial was on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic
Church in Munjor with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. &nbsp;Burial with
military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard followed in the church
cemetery.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or to Scout Troop #101.&nbsp; Condolences and memories of Mike may be left

Michael 'Mike' Suppes

Victor
Eugene Potter, 82, died peacefully at his home in Hill City surrounded by his
family. Victor was born to Victor Joy and Cleo Marna (Cross) Potter, July 7,
1942 at Imperial, Nebraska. The family lived on a farm west of Hayes Center,
Nebraska.

Victor was
the oldest of three brothers with Jerry in the middle and Dexter the youngest.
One can only imagine the mischief&nbsp; these
three could dream up. Of course, Victor many times was the instigator and Jerry
and Dexter were the ones that got into the most trouble.

Victor
attended the schools in Hayes Center and graduated from high school there. He
tried college for a semester, but decided it wasn’t for him and instead
enlisted in the United States Navy. This was where Victor would find his
calling.

He was
initially stationed in Pensacola, Florida, and later at the Norfolk Naval Air
Station in Virginia. It was there that Victor gained rank and status.&nbsp; He spent his entire career in Virginia, and
became Commander Master Chief, retiring in the late 1980’s. He had always loved
tinkering with cars and now had time to do just that.

So, he
opened his own&nbsp; business, “Vic’s Mobile
Maintenance” in Norfolk. It has been said, “The man could fix just about
anything and make anything run.”

In 2006,
Victor and his wife Cheryl moved to Hill City, Kansas to be closer to family.
Traveling with their RV, camping and especially fishing with the kids and
grandkids were so special to all.

Victor was
preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Jerry. He is survived by his
wife, Cheryl of Hill City; son Victor F. Potter and wife Eula of Alabama; three
daughters: Marna Wilson and husband Charles of Elizabeth, North Carolina; Vicki
Hauer of Camden, North Carolina; Stephanie Voss of Hill City;&nbsp; a brother Dexter Potter and his wife Claudia
of Hill City; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; nephews: Tony
Potter, Dale Potter and Kirk Potter; and nieces Julie Smith and Lisa Yost.

Victor Eugene Potter

Lawrence 'Larry' Joseph Von Lintel, 71, of Goodland, Kansas,
passed away on June 21, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,
Kansas.&nbsp;He was born on May 19, 1954, in Hays, Kansas, to Lawrence and
Theresa (Rohleder) Von Lintel.

Larry was raised on the family farm north of Quinter,
Kansas. Despite facing serious health challenges in his early years, he
remained positive and resilient throughout his life.

Larry graduated from Quinter High School in 1972 and later
that year enrolled at Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School in Goodland.
He initially studied auto mechanics but soon found his calling in diesel
mechanics. While attending Vo-Tech, Larry began working at Goodland Greenline.
He later worked for Close Implement in Oakley and spent many years at Taylor
Implement in Hoxie, where he eventually retired. A loyal "John Deere
man" through and through, Larry took great pride in his work in the
agricultural equipment industry.

Known for his remarkable skill and passion for fixing
things, Larry was often found in his garage tinkering and keeping himself busy.
A dedicated and tireless worker, he was always ready to lend a helping hand—day
or night—never asking for anything in return and never complaining.

Family was everything to Larry, and he especially cherished
time spent with his grandchildren. He was known for his cheerful sayings,
including: “I’m fantastic!”, “Howdy Doody,” and “Toodle-oo.”

Larry was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus.

He married Debbie Horton in May of 1975. Together they had
three children: daughters,&nbsp;Mandi (Matt) Muller of Lawrence, KS, and Candi
(Russell) Owens of Edson, KS; and&nbsp;son, L.J. (Jessica) Von Lintel of
Goodland, KS.

In 1999, Larry married Debi Rarick in a civil ceremony
officiated by the justice of the peace in Hoxie, KS. Out of his deep love and
devotion to Debi, he chose to reaffirm their vows with a formal wedding
ceremony held on August 17, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church
in Goodland, KS.

Through this marriage, Larry gained three children:
daughters Elizabeth (Tom) Sykes of Wichita, KS, and Kari Bell of Hays, KS; and
son Robert (Amanda) Rarick of Tomball, TX.

He was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren: Jordin,
Addison, Blade, Joseph, Landin, Colt, Laney, Nya, Brallion, Leo, Payton, Nikki,
Conner, Ethan, and Eldon. He loved each of them deeply.

Larry is survived by his wife, Debi; his sisters, Kathy
(Jim) Blackwill of Quinter, KS, and Annette (Jerry) Reitmayer of Derby, KS;
brother, Bruce Von Lintel of Larned, KS; and sister-in-law, Mary Von Lintel,
Russel, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and
Theresa Von Lintel, and brother, Nick Von Lintel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00
- 7:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main St., Quinter, KS. A vigil
service and recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Wednesday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 202
Cottonwood St., Park, KS, with burial to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Kansas
Foundation of Hope or Masses in Larry’s honor.

Kansas.&nbsp;He was born on May 19, 1954, in Hays, Kansas, to Lawrence and
Theresa (Rohleder) Von Lintel.Larry was raised on the family farm north of Quinter,
Kansas. Despite facing serious health challenges in his early years, he
remained positive and resilient throughout his life.Larry graduated from Quinter High School in 1972 and later
that year enrolled at Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School in Goodland.
He initially studied auto mechanics but soon found his calling in diesel
mechanics. While attending Vo-Tech, Larry began working at Goodland Greenline.
He later worked for Close Implement in Oakley and spent many years at Taylor
Implement in Hoxie, where he eventually retired. A loyal "John Deere
man" through and through, Larry took great pride in his work in the
agricultural equipment industry.Known for his remarkable skill and passion for fixing
things, Larry was often found in his garage tinkering and keeping himself busy.
A dedicated and tireless worker, he was always ready to lend a helping hand—day
or night—never asking for anything in return and never complaining.Family was everything to Larry, and he especially cherished
time spent with his grandchildren. He was known for his cheerful sayings,
including: “I’m fantastic!”, “Howdy Doody,” and “Toodle-oo.”Larry was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus.He married Debbie Horton in May of 1975. Together they had
three children: daughters,&nbsp;Mandi (Matt) Muller of Lawrence, KS, and Candi
(Russell) Owens of Edson, KS; and&nbsp;son, L.J. (Jessica) Von Lintel of
Goodland, KS.In 1999, Larry married Debi Rarick in a civil ceremony
officiated by the justice of the peace in Hoxie, KS. Out of his deep love and
devotion to Debi, he chose to reaffirm their vows with a formal wedding
ceremony held on August 17, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church
in Goodland, KS.Through this marriage, Larry gained three children:
daughters Elizabeth (Tom) Sykes of Wichita, KS, and Kari Bell of Hays, KS; and
son Robert (Amanda) Rarick of Tomball, TX.He was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren: Jordin,
Addison, Blade, Joseph, Landin, Colt, Laney, Nya, Brallion, Leo, Payton, Nikki,
Conner, Ethan, and Eldon. He loved each of them deeply.Larry is survived by his wife, Debi; his sisters, Kathy
(Jim) Blackwill of Quinter, KS, and Annette (Jerry) Reitmayer of Derby, KS;
brother, Bruce Von Lintel of Larned, KS; and sister-in-law, Mary Von Lintel,
Russel, KS.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and
Theresa Von Lintel, and brother, Nick Von Lintel.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00

Marvin 'Curly' Leiker, 84, Hays, died Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home in Hays.

He was born
September 6, 1940 in Hays the son of Ted and Sally (Haas) Leiker.&nbsp; He was ranch manager for Sweetwater Ranch for
40 years and it was there that memories were made and cherished with family and
friends.&nbsp; Curly lived and demonstrated
his strong faith and is well known for the metal sculptures, art, and mailboxes
distributed around the United States.&nbsp; He
has crafted hundreds of metal sculptures for gifts, and sold as a
business/hobby for sixty years.&nbsp; He was
featured in numerous magazines, newspaper articles, and gave demonstrations at
city meetings, churches, and schools.&nbsp; He
was honored to serve his country and be a veteran.

Curly is
survived by his wife Tamy, daughter Kenda Falley, son Tyson Leiker, his
grandchildren Braden and Kate Falley, Jadyn Falley, Cody and Cheyenne Gephart,
and Keaton Leiker, a great granddaughter Imelda, his sisters Mary Luecke and
Shirley (Ivan) Werth, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was
preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Stacy Albers-Leiker.

Curly was
laid to rest in St. Fidelis Cemetery in Victoria.&nbsp; There will be a graveside memorial service at

Ralph
Gilbert Basgall, 92, passed away on June 22, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas.

Ralph
was born in Dighton, Kansas, the oldest of thirteen kids born to Everett and
Euphrosena (Hartman) Basgall. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a crew
chief to a Two Star Major General—a role he took great pride in. After his
service, he spent 37 years working at Boeing before retiring in 1995.&nbsp;

Even
in retirement, Ralph never slowed down. He dedicated time to helping restore
the B-29 Superfortress “Doc,” loved tinkering with old cars, and enjoyed being
with his family.

He
is survived by a sister, Kathy and his brothers; Leroy (Charolette), Ronnie
(Pasty), Raymond (Kathy), and Tony (Loretta). His son Michael (Brenda) Basgall,
four grandchildren - Kayleigh (Austin) Agee, Bradyn (Brooke) Basgall, Lynsey
(Morgan) Gardner, and Corbyn Basgall. Along with five
great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He
was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers—Melvin, Virgil, Bobby,
Gerald, Harry, Daniel; a sister, Mary Jane.

A
vigil/rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with services Friday morning at

Knoll, age 90, a very well-known artist, sculptor, teacher, and a friend to
many passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Redbud Village Care Center
in Plainville, Kansas.

He was a former
Ellis County resident and lived his later years in Palco, Kansas. He was born
October 8, 1934, in Hays, Kansas, and was one of nine children in the family of
Adam and Barbara (Sander) Knoll.&nbsp;&nbsp; He married Mary (Desbien) in 1965
at Zurich, Kansas

Omer grew up in
Victoria, Kansas and was a 1952 graduate of Victoria High School, and was a
veteran of the US Army.

He earned a BS
and an MS in Art Education from Fort Hays State University and completed
undergraduate studies in architecture at Kansas State University and design,
photography and painting classes at the University of Kansas.&nbsp; He started
sculpture commissions as a graduate student.&nbsp; From 1965 to 1978, Knoll
served as an art instructor teaching drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, 2D
and 3D design, art history, art appreciation, art fundamentals and photography
at Iola and Allen County Community College.&nbsp; From 1978 to present he has
been a self-employed artist/sculptor, and he had a studio in Hays from 1978 to
1986.&nbsp; In 1986, he moved to Arizona but returned to Kansas in 1994 to live
in Palco.&nbsp; He was Fire Chief for the City of Palco for two years.

His vast
collection of sculptures includes famous Kansans, including Dr. Michael
DeBakey, philanthropist Dane G. Hansen, Senator Robert J. Dole, many of Knoll’s
family and friends, as well as a salute to his beloved Volga German heritage,
are included in his work.&nbsp; There are also paintings of iconic western
Kansas churches and structures.

Omer is
survived by his son, Anthony “Tony” Knoll, Phoenix, AZ; his brothers, Lester
Knoll, Victoria, KS; Larry Knoll, Denver, CO; his sister, Jane Knoll-Tenney and
husband, James, Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded
in death by his parents, Adam and Barbara; his wife, Mary; his brothers, Wayne; Carroll;
Devon; Terry and his sister, Iris.

A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at The
Basilica of Saint Fidelis, 900 Cathedral Ave., Victoria, Kansas with Celebrant,
Father Curtis Carlson O.F.M. Cap.

The family will
receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at the church.

Inurnment will
be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas with military honors by the

Roseann M. Billinger

Frank E. Mussemann, 100, of Hays, Kansas, and formerly of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.

He was born on December 7, 1924, in WaKeeney to Gerhard and Bessie (Krhut) Mussemann. Frank grew up in WaKeeney and on his 17th birthday in 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor marked the beginning of World War II. Answering the call to serve, he enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation. Frank trained as a pilot in Texas and continued his training in California, where he learned to land aircraft on carriers. When flying near home, he would often circle the family farm as a signal to his mother that he was safe. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to WaKeeney and joined his father in farming, raising cattle and growing a variety of crops.

On November 23, 1948, Frank married Nathalie E. Zeman in WaKeeney. Together they made their home and raised four children: Dennis, Christine, Sharla, and Julie.

Frank was a dedicated member of his community and church. He served as a longtime council member and treasurer of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was an 80-year member of the American Legion Post #197, served on the WaKeeney Coop Board of Directors, and was a WaKeeney Township Trustee. He enjoyed many years as a member of Big Creek Golf Course where he enjoyed many hours on the greens.

A true outdoorsman, Frank especially loved elk hunting trips in the Colorado mountains, where he would ride horseback and camp in tents for a true backcountry experience. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, and golfing, and found great joy in being active and outdoors.

Frank is survived by his children: Dennis (Lori) Mussemann of Wamego, KS, Christine (Gregory) Trogstad of WaKeeney, Sharla (David) Albers of Brownell, KS, and Julie Mussemann of Kapolei, HI; brother, Glenn (Carol) Mussemann of Carriere, MS; five grandchildren: Taylor (Melinda) Trogstad of Salina, KS, Bethany Trogstad of Prairie Village, KS, Seth (Jami) Albers of Voda, KS, Silas (Megan) Albers of Ransom, KS, and Hannah (Josh) Enslow of Hays, KS; and eleven great-grandchildren: Crew Trogstad, Nelson Murdock, Maura, Thaddeous and Lennox Albers; Zaddok, Everly, and Ensley Albers; Bryson, Hattie, and Joelle Enslow. He is remembered fondly by many special nieces, nephews, and his good friends at Brookdale.

He preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Bessie; wife, Nathalie; infant son, Charles; infant siblings, Elsie and Dale; sisters, Margaret Papes, Agnes Stradal, and Josephine Ziegler; son-in-law, Don Holden; and infant great-grandson, Maddox Albers.

Frank’s long life was one of service, strength, and quiet devotion to his family, community, and country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:30AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in WaKeeney. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday 9:30-10:30AM at the Church.

Frank E. Mussemann

Annette C. Sullivan, 60, a lifelong resident of Russell, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2025, in Salina, Kansas, following a health battle resulting from an accident in March 2024. Born on September 26, 1964, Annette lived a life defined by kindness, warmth, and a deep love for her community.

A proud graduate of Russell High School, Class of 1983, Annette remained devoted to her hometown throughout her life. She was a dedicated lifetime member of the Russell County Historical Society and, together with her beloved sister Theresa, worked to preserve the area’s rich heritage at the Oil Patch Museum. Annette also shared her passion for local life through her involvement in the Russell County Free Fair, where she served as an advisor and judge for the community entries.

Professionally, Annette worked in the retail industry, at DSNWK, Marvin’s Gardens, as a caretaker and as a babysitter for families and children—offering the same love and generosity she gave to everyone she met. Though she had no children of her own, her nurturing spirit touched countless families, including Paige and Nick Clenney of Russell.

Annette found joy in family, friends, gardening, cooking and baking—often bringing people together to enjoy good company and good times. She also had a deep love for animals, always sharing her home with their beloved dogs and cats. Her legacy of connection, generosity, and community spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Gerald B. Sullivan and Lauraine M. Sanders; her stepfather, Carl L. Weathers; and her partner, Randy Branting of Russell.

Annette is survived by her brother, Gerald “Jerry” Sullivan (Melissa) of Iuka; her sister, Theresa Sullivan of Russell; her nephew, Lucas Sullivan (Kasa) of Holcomb; niece and nephews Karson, Kyson, Kwynn, and Kraeton; her caretaker, Jayne (Dale) Casper of Gorham; her ex-husband, Tim Boxberger (Dylan Palma) of Russell; and a community that will forever cherish her memory. 

In her final months, Annette spent meaningful time with Theresa, including a special two-week visit over Christmas 2024—a memory her sister holds close to her heart.

Cremation has been chosen, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Ashly Nicole Frenzl, age 37, of
Kansas&nbsp; City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

She was born on December 16, 1987, in Hays, Kansas, to Michael W. and Jane M.
(Rajewski) Frenzl.

She was the director of accounting and compliance for United Country Real
Estate Company in Kansas City.&nbsp; Prior to moving to Kansas City, she worked
at Brungardt-Hower-Ward-Elliott &amp; Pfeifer; Golden Plains Credit Union; and
Fort Hays State University.

Ashly was a member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church while living
in Hays.&nbsp; She was a 2006 graduate of T.M.P.-Marian High School, a graduate
of Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a
licensed C.P.A.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ashly was always for a new adventure.&nbsp; She loved to travel, dance, enjoyed
quilting, painting, going to music festivals, concerts, and spending time on
the beach with her friends. 

Ashly is survived by her parents, Michael Frenzl and Jane Rajewski, Hays, KS;
her sister, Amy Feldt and husband, Cory, Hays, KS; her grandmother, Edna
(Kolste) Frenzl, Hays, KS; her nieces, Ava and Olivia Feldt; her nephews, Jaxson
and Maddox Feldt; her little four-legged friend, Penelope; her special friend,
Ryan Holsman, Kansas City, MO; and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ashly Nicole Frenzl

Steven Lynn Engelhardt, 70, of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on June
15, 2025.

Steve was
born on January 31, 1955, in Norton, Kansas, to Charles “Archie” and Mildred
(Bantam) Engelhardt. He grew up in Long Island, Kansas, and graduated from
Northern Valley High School in 1973. He went on to attend Fort Hays State
University and later began working for the university’s Farm Crops Division,
where he dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring in 2010.

After his
retirement from the university, Steve moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, where he
worked for Hemisphere GNSS and later for Summit Truck Bodies. He officially
retired again in 2022—but true to form, returned to part-time work at
Hemisphere GNSS just a few months later, eventually wrapping up his time there
in April 2025.

Steve was
known for his hands-on spirit and his uncanny ability to fix or tinker with
just about anything. His favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle with
friends and taking in the beautiful Kansas countryside. He developed many close
friendships in Hiawatha and cherished the time spent with those who became like
family.

Above all,
Steve loved his family. He was a devoted father who was always there to listen
and offer sound advice. He took pride in passing his wisdom on to his children
and grandchildren and always had a “dad joke” at the ready. He was the kind of
grandpa who would drive long distances to attend a special event, no matter how
small, just to show he cared. He is survived by his daughter, Miranda Lynn
Engelhardt Abate, and her husband, Tim Abate, of Belton, Missouri; his son,
Devin Cole Engelhardt, and his wife, Brittany, of Peculiar, Missouri; and his
beloved grandchildren: Olyvia, Thomas, Gianna, Cale, and Adalynn. He is also
survived by his former wife, Patricia Englert of Belton, Missouri; his brother,
Delwyn Engelhardt and wife Diane of Temple, Texas; his sister, Colette Craig of
Topeka, Kansas and&nbsp;lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.&nbsp;He
was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral
services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Plumer-Gobber
Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Almena, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the service.

Melva Jo Dortland, 94, of Gorham,
Kansas, died on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays,
Kansas.&nbsp; 

Melva was born on November 03,
1930, in Luray, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin and Josephine (Shiroky)
Schurr.&nbsp; As a young girl she lived in
Luray and graduated from Luray High School before moving to Russell,
Kansas.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to
Herbert J. “Junior” Black on March 05, 1949, in Great Bend, Kansas, from this
union they were blessed with 4 children Cathy, Steve, Roger and Beverly.&nbsp; Herbert died on March 27, 1964, in a tragic
car accident.&nbsp; Melva found love again and
was united in marriage to Elmer Dortland on April 20, 1965, in Gorham, Kansas,
and from this union they were blessed with 2 children JoAnn and Darrell.&nbsp; Elmer preceded her in death on October 12,
2010.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of St.
Mary Catholic Church of Gorham.&nbsp; She was
very active in her church life.&nbsp; She was
a member of the Gorham parish council, the Daughters of Isabella, President of
the Salina Diocese Council of Catholic Women (SDCCW) and the first women in the
Gorham church to be a lecture and eucharistic minister.&nbsp; Her faith in God was incredible.

Later in life she enjoyed visiting
with family and friends, she loved to talk, watching news and sports on TV,
playing cards, doing puzzles, and her favorite getting Dairy Queen.&nbsp; Most of all she loved her family.&nbsp; She was a strong woman who was there to
support her family through every step of life.&nbsp;
She loved to cook, care, play, listen, and watch them.&nbsp; She was proud of her children and the their
families.

Surviving family includes her
daughter Cathy Jacobs (Steve) of Gorham, Kansas, son Roger Black (Trudy) of
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, daughter Beverly Driscoll of Hoisington, Kansas, daughter
JoAnn Kilian (Stuart) and son Darrell Dortland (Kayla) all of Gorham, Kansas;
brother George Schurr (Pat) and sister Donna Frederick all of Salina, Kansas
and sister Eva Jean Hackerott of Topeka, Kansas; 13 grandchildren Brenda
Slattery, Kevin Jacobs, Stacey McKenna, Kyle Jacobs, Jaime Liudahl, Sarah Rosa,
Ben Black, Chris and David Driscoll, Cameron Kilian, Joseph, Tiffany and
Camille Dortland and many great grandchildren.&nbsp;


She was preceded in death by her
parents, 2 husbands, son Steve Black, brother Richard Schurr and granddaughter

Charles grew up and attended school in Tribune, and lived in Parsons, Kansas, before moving to Hays&nbsp;in 1975, and was a client with the Reed Center and DSNWK.&nbsp; He worked in janitorial positions in Hays over the years.&nbsp; Charles enjoyed anything that was western, watching movies and sports, looking at cars, the DSNWK dances and road trips. 

Charles is survived by his brother-in-law, Mike Boese, Hays, KS; and his DSNWK family. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Mary Lou Boese. A

Brian Richard 'Doc' Reddig, 61,
died on Friday June 13, 2025, at his home in Gorham, Kansas, surrounded by his
family.

Doc was born on August 25, 1963,
in Russell, Kansas, the son of James Richard and Dianae Lynn (Karst)
Reddig.&nbsp; He grew up in Russell and
graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1981.&nbsp; He met, fell in love and was united in
marriage to Lea Anna Householter on August 25, 1984, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; From this union, Doc and Lea were blessed
with two sons Kane and Tad.&nbsp; Doc worked
in the oil industry and was owner and operator of Reddig Enterprises,
Lightening Well Service, Doc’s Well Service, Central Kansas Well Service,
MidKan and Doc’s Tree Service.&nbsp; He was a
longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell.&nbsp; Brian loved being outdoors, hunting Elk, Deer
and foul and fishing with his boys.&nbsp; Most
of all he enjoyed taking care of the family farm and spending his time with his
wife, sons, extended family and close friends.

Surviving family includes his wife
Lea of the home, son Tad D. Reddig (Mandy) of Russell, Kansas; brothers Scott
Reddig and wife Karen of Great Bend, Kansas and Stacey Reddig (Sharon) of
Oklahoma; sister Jennie Dandridge of Russell, Kansas; and stepbrothers Monty
Karst and Alan Tempelton both of Russell, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Jaydon
and Adrion.

He was preceded in death by his
parents and son Kane A. Reddig on September 06, 2013.

A celebration of Doc’s life will
be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist
Church in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Family will
greet guests the day of the service at the church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Russell City
Cemetery.&nbsp; Memorials may be given to
Trinity United Methodist Church and sent in care of the mortuary.&nbsp; Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell,

Brian Richard 'Doc' Reddig

Ruth Ann (Bemmels) Pruitt, 86, Hays, died Friday, April 18,
2025 at Hays Good Samaritan Society after many years of Multiple Sclerosis,
which contributed to her death. 

She was born May 28, 1938 in Boulder, Colorado, the daughter
of William and Esther (Powers) Bemmels.&nbsp;
On August 7, 1960, she was married to Roger A. Pruitt in Ottawa, Kansas.&nbsp; Ruth grew up in Ottawa and graduated from
Ottawa High School in 1956.&nbsp; She received
a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and education from Ottawa University
in 1960 and a Master’s Degree from Fort Hays State University in 1978.&nbsp; She taught mathematics in Altamont, Kansas at
Labette County Community High School, and in Jefferson County, Colorado and
Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She taught both part-time
and full-time in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Fort Hays
State University from 1976 until 1997 when she retired.

Ruth was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church
in Hays, having served on the Session and facilitated the Presbyterian Women’s
Bible study.&nbsp; She was also a member of
the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as Regent for six years
and Registrar for a total of more than six years.&nbsp; She enjoyed helping prospective members trace
their genealogy.&nbsp; While teaching, Ruth
belonged to the Kansas Association of Teachers of Mathematics.&nbsp; She also enjoyed playing Bridge with a group
of women.

Survivors include her husband Roger, her two sons, David
Pruitt and Douglas Pruitt and wife Amy Malone-Pruitt, six grandchildren,
Morgan, Daniel, Jennifer, Andrew, Helen, and Fiona Pruitt, and her brother
William Bemmels and wife Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her
daughter-in-law Nicola Pruitt.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 21,
2025 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christine Wagner
officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at 2:00
pm in Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit.&nbsp; The

Ruth Ann (Bemmels) Pruitt

Karen Marie Bell, 84, Stockton,
Kansas, passed away June 10, 2025, at the Rooks County Hospital in Plainville,
Kansas. She was born October 1, 1940, in Palco, Kansas to Forrest J. and Olive
Zeta (Desbien) Stull.

Karen
married James Bartos. To this union two daughters, Kim and Mona, were born. She
later married Elwyn Bell and to this union four sons were added to their
family: Michael, Rodney, Eric, and Shawn. Karen was an extremely dedicated
mother and grandma. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing all kinds of arts and
craft.

Karen
is preceded in death by her parents Olive and Forrest; her husbands, James
Bartos and Elwyn Bell; her two sisters, Margie Roberts and Delora Teasley; and
her son Eric.

Survivors
of Karen include: two daughters Kim and Darren Schneider of Gorham, Kansas and
Mona Chase of Wakeeney; three sons: Michael and Jeanette Bell of Kirkland,
Washington, Rodney and Carolina Bell of Peoria, Arizona, and Shawn Bell and
Michelle Marguardt of Show Low, Arizona; eight grandchildren; twelve great
grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Karen will be truly missed by
all who loved her. She touched so many lives and memories of her will be
cherished forever.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Stinemetz

Harold L. ‘Harry’ Leiker, 82, Hays, died Thursday, June 12,
2025 at HaysMed.

He was born November 14, 1942 in Hays, the son of Carl S.
and Helen (Schmidt) Leiker.&nbsp; He was
graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy with the class of 1960, then he proudly
served in the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1963 and was stationed in Germany during
that time.&nbsp; He owned and operated Harry’s
Heating and Air Conditioning and did sheet metal work.&nbsp; On April 24, 1965, he was united in marriage to
Carolyn Marsh at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, and they celebrated 60
years of marriage.&nbsp; Harry was a member of
the Eagle’s Lodge and the Hays American Legion Post #173.&nbsp; Harry was a car enthusiast who enjoyed new
and classic cars, was a stickler for a well-manicured lawn, was a proud member
of the McDonald’s Coffee Crew, and relished visiting with his friends.&nbsp; He and Carolyn spent 32 years in Longmont,
Colorado, moving back to Hays in 2017 due to his health.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, of the home in Hays, two
sons, Loren Leiker (Linda) of Hays and Troy Leiker of Longmont, CO, a daughter,
Karen Zurfluh (Steve Gentry) of Frederick, CO, two brothers, Earl J. Leiker
(Mary Ann) of Hays, and Carl Leiker (Donna) of Texhoma, TX, five grandchildren,
Brandon Leiker (Kristina), Marissa Schumacher (Luke), Bailee Carroll (Jordan),
Brynn Leiker, and Tanner Zurfluh (Mackenzie), one great grandson due in
September, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Merlyn
Leiker (Phyllis), an infant brother Johnny Leiker, sisters, Betty Ann Walter
(Leo Walter, Jr.), and Janet Dreiling, an infant sister Mary Leiker, a daughter-in-law

Harold L. ‘Harry’ Leiker

Wesley, the oldest son of Elvin and Florence (Johnson) Tuttle, was born August
24, 1950, in Hays, KS. He gained his wings on June 8, 2025. Our hearts are
broken but also joyful knowing he is in the loving arms of Jesus and family.

As a child, he lived with his parents until the age of 10,
then moved to Topeka for special care. At 21, he moved to DSNWK in Hays, where
he lived in a group home setting for most of his adult life. In December 2019,
he moved to Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care Facility to be closer to
family. He always called Quinter his “hometown.” Later, he became a resident of
Logan County Senior Living until his passing. The family is grateful for all
the love and care he received at these locations.

Wesley enjoyed many things in life, especially MUSIC.
He had a natural rhythm, keeping beat with his foot, hand, slinky, and
sometimes even playing a recorder to his favorites: Christmas music (played
year-round), Johnny Cash, and Elvis. A few of Wesley’s favorites included
dollar bills—which he preferred over big bills—strawberry malts, riding in a
pickup pulling a trailer, riding his three-wheel bike down the driveway to get
the mail, and giving his nieces and nephews rides in the basket or pulling his
cart behind. When opening a card with money, he would exclaim, “Money, Money,
Money!”

He carried numerous pictures in his wallet, so many that it
would bulge. He always looked forward to coming home for holidays and his
birthday; on the trip back to Hays, he would already be talking about his next
visit home. Wesley’s sense of humor and teasing could put a smile on anyone’s
face. He had many favorite sayings that will be treasured.

He helped us appreciate people with disabilities by teaching
us to look at their strengths. He touched many hearts and will be missed;
however, we know that even though he lived his life here with a disability, he
now lives in heaven free.

Preceding Wesley in death are his beloved parents, Elvin and
Florence; brother, Lester; and nephew, Lloyd. Survivors include his sister,
Lesa (Ron) Ochs; sister-in-law, Mary Tuttle (Terry Cox); nieces and nephews and
their children: Tyler Tuttle &amp; daughter Journie; Renee Tuttle &amp; son
McCoy; Dwayne Tuttle &amp; sons Asher &amp; Archer; Ryan (Tiff) Ochs &amp;
children Rylee &amp; Ryder; Shawna Ochs (Dallas Goetz) &amp; daughter Wrenley.
Many other extended family members are also grieving Wesley’s passing.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, at
2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 700 Grant St., Quinter, KS.
